The Morning Buzz: Monday, September 15
![]() |
On Monday, we have a special guest joining us for the chat when Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley stops by to chat.
With Utley's team-best .290 batting average leading the way, the Phillies are tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for the NL wild card and just one game behind the New York Mets in the NL East race. The 29-year-old has finished in the top 10 in NL MVP voting the last two seasons. He has been selected to the last three All-Star games, while winning two Silver Slugger awards.
Utley is teaming with Michael Strahan to give away the ultimate "High Performance Experience," including a 40-inch HDTV, autographed footballs and baseballs. The sweepstakes is in conjunction with Vaseline MEN, a new line of lotions for men. For more information, go to StrongerSkin.com
It's The Morning Buzz, where you never know what subjects we'll hit. But you know you won't be able to turn away, because you never know what's coming next. This show is all about you, SportsNation. It's your morning water cooler. Talk about what you want -- Buzz will take your lead. So settle in and enjoy!
Buzzmaster (7:47 PM)
Wow, crazy weekend of college and pro football, eh? I wish I could properly share my excitement at this state of affairs with you, but that will have to wait until our usual time of 10 AM ET, right here with me, Buzz!
Buzzmaster (9:29 AM)
We'll also have Chase Utley stopping by right at 10!
Buzzmaster (9:55 AM)
Gooooood morning!
Buzzmaster (9:55 AM)
We're getting started early today. We've got Chase Utley coming up!
Buzzmaster (9:56 AM)
Here's Chase!
Joe (Glassboro, NJ)
I was at last night's game, I gotta ask...How do you guys do it in September like this? AMAZING!
Chase Utley (9:57 AM)
It seems like the past three years we've had late runs in September. It does make it very exciting. We seem to play well at the end of the year. I wish I had an answer for why, but we do play well. With 12 to go we have to win as many as possible.
Mike (Ohio)
Do you all ever give Ryan any crap about his strikeouts?
Chase Utley (9:58 AM)
As long as he continues to hit home runs, he won't hear a word from me.
Christian (High Point, NC)
Hi Chase! Obligatory Jimmy Buffett question: how often do you hear 'Mr. Utley!', and does it drive you nuts?
Chase Utley (9:58 AM)
I don't hear Mr. Utley very often and I like it that way.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
From a Cubs fan THANK YOU for beating the Brewers. I hope you make the playoffs.
Raymond (Baltimore)
Chase (appropriately named), what has been the teams mindset during this rally?
Chase Utley (10:00 AM)
This team has a bunch of guys with a lot of character, a lot of heart, a lot of will to win. We know that we need to win as many games as possible to make the playoffs. Our pitching has been great and we've had some timely hits.
tom* (parkville, md)
What's the biggest advantage of Citizen's Bank Park over The Vet?
Chase Utley (10:00 AM)
I didn't have that much experience in The Vet, I probably played only 20 games there. But obviously being brand new is an advantage. Being clean is an advantage. And as a hitter, there's not a better place than Citizen's.
Nate (Madison)
Chase, I'm a Brewers fan, why'd you have to do it? Ughhh (sigh), this sucks.
Chase Utley (10:01 AM)
Sorry Nate. We want to make the playoffs extremely bad.
Mike (Ohio)
Were you in on the Kyle Kendrick spring training prank? That was absolutely hilarious
Chase Utley (10:01 AM)
That was hilarious. But I was not in on it.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
It's 10 AM, why are you awake?
Chase Utley (10:02 AM)
That's a good question. Well, because I'm doing this interview, that's why. I normally wake up around 10. That's my normal routine.
David: (Philadelphia, PA)
Chase, what are your thoughts of the fans of Philadelphia?
Chase Utley (10:03 AM)
I've enjoyed the fans here in Philly. They're diehard sports fans. It makes it fun coming to the park every day, knowing the fans are going to be in the game. Obviously, the more positive support the better.
Pete (NC)
On average, how many cheesesteaks do you eat a week?
Chase Utley (10:03 AM)
I averaged one chicken cheesesteak sandwich per week.
Chase Utley (10:04 AM)
The Phillies have a nutritionist and she doesn't like cheesesteaks.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
If you're gonna join us in the MB we have to ask this question. Do you like Pop-Tarts and if so what is your favorite flavor?
Chase Utley (10:04 AM)
I used to eat pop tarts. Strawberry was my flavor. For breakfast, eggs and pancakes works for me.
Kevin (Brooklyn,NY)
Hey Chase. Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced to date?
Chase Utley (10:05 AM)
When Dontrelle Willis was here with the Marlins, he was tough. And the closer for the Rockies, Brian Fuentes is pretty tough as well.
David Newark, DE
Pat came up big last night. Do you think he's starting to turn on?
Chase Utley (10:06 AM)
Yeah. Pat's an important part of our lineup. He's a big right handed bat right in the middle. The more success he has, the more success we'll have as a team. Pat has the capability of doing a lot of damage by himself.
Mike (Belvidere, IL)
Which stadiums are "must-sees" for big baseball fans?
Chase Utley (10:07 AM)
Well, not being biased, coming here to watch a game at Citizen's is nice. Going to Wrigley has to be good for a fan, as well as Fenway. Probably those three.
Pete (NC)
As an alum, how did you take UCLA's 59-0 thrashing this weekend?
Chase Utley (10:07 AM)
Not too well. I didn't get a chance to watch too much of the game. I watched the highlights and it was tough to watch.
Danny: (Philly, PA)
As a team do you guys get more energized for a meaningful series ... i.e. this 4 gamer against the brew crew?
Chase Utley (10:08 AM)
To be honest with you, I think we have a focused team and we have the same mindset no matter who we're playing, which I think is the right mindset to have.
Rob (Portland, OR)
Chase, what's your opinion of instant replay in baseball?
Chase Utley (10:09 AM)
I'm all for instant replay, only for home runs - fair, foul, over the fence. I'm definitely in favor of that. I think technology is so good these days. The parks can be tough to judge at times, so having the technology in place will help.
Mike (Ohio)
How do you feel about MLB players in the Olympics? Would you have played if given the chance?
Chase Utley (10:10 AM)
I would play in the Olympics. Representing your country would be an honor. The only problem is that it's in the middle of the MLB season, so I think it would be difficult to do, but I would do it.
Gary (Phoenix)
Hey Chase what are you up to today?
Chase Utley (10:12 AM)
Actually, I want to tell you a little bit about Vaseline for Men, the new men's skin care line that's come out. I was never much of a lotion user growing up, but now I've realized that taking care of your skin is extremely important, especially with all of the travel and weather changes we go through. What I like about Vaseline for Men is that it absorbs into your skin within 15 seconds. That's important to me, so I don't feel like I'm greasy. You can go on StrongerSkin.com to see me and Michael Strahan in a video clip. You can also see our training workouts, plus you can win some prizes.
Buzzmaster (10:13 AM)
Thanks Chase!
Ed Hotchuli (Avoiding San Diego)
I want to send a special shotout to Mike in Houston for that wonderful gift he sent me ... don't worry, I had your back.
Tombstone (Ohio)
RIP Buckeye season 8/30/08 - 9/13/08.
Scott (St. Louis)
The next two weeks are my fantasy leagues World Series. Bring it home for me!
Jason (Baltimore)
That call in the SD/Den game did not cost SD the game, their failure to make a stop on not one, but two plays immediately following cost them the game. That bad call did not give SD permission to allow both a TD AND 3 pt conversion. Feel free to make a play SD. After that call, SD STILL had the lead. Bad defense cost them the game. Sell me on, giving up 39 points and crying about the refs.
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
Now back to the craptastic morning chat called The Morning Buzz
Buzzmaster (10:15 AM)
Is it that good?
evan (fort lauderdale)
I was so excited watching that broncos game yesterday, that i was thinking about throwing couches in celebration
Broncos Fan (lucky town)
I hate that the Broncos had to win that game because of a terrible call. I don't hate it as much as watching the Broncos lose though.
rob Philly
Go Chase, thats all! Go Chase
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Good morning, folks. Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Keith (Chicago)
yo Buzz - do me a favor and tell Herbie that he owes TerpNation an apology for picking Cal by 3 TD's! Great win for Ralph and the boys.
Buzzmaster (10:16 AM)
Me thinks that Herbie may have missed that one, by juuuuuuuuuuuuuust a little bit.
Eric (Hackettstown Nj)
Amazing buzz. Reading this chat was amazing. The usual gang of chatters were absent and sports chat occurred. There are a lot of people who tune into the chat and probably exit early when they see the usual dominate with the usual
evan (fort lauderdale)
i cant wait to hear about if beanie played, the buckeyes would have won...whah whah whah buckeye fan
Nate (Madison)
Aaron Rodgers, hmmmm, looks like maybe the GM knew what he was doing.
Sean (Philly)
I like craptastical.
Ryan (San Diego)
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Props to Scott Van Pelt for brining up a Office Space reference on Friday nights SportsCenter.
Tom (STL)
Go Chase! Hes the man.
Mike (Belvidere, IL)
I just talked to CC Sabathia...he thinks Zambrano's no-no is BS.
Pete (NC)
Can't believe Kevin (Manassas) hasn't shown up yet. Big game for Big Z last night!
Sean (Philly)
Buzz, did Lady Buzz tell you how Matt Damon feels about Palin as a possible VP?
Buzzmaster (10:17 AM)
We don't talk politics at the BuzzMansion.
Ben (Charlotte)
Two things: 1. As an alumnus of tOSU, I am embarrassed by the performance of the football team. 2. I watched 102 Minutes That Changed America, and it was one of the most powerful things I have seen in quite some time.
Buzzmaster (10:18 AM)
I didn't. Know why? It was yet another day when my satelitte went out. And after having it come back, it went out again this weekend. I'm LOVING it.
Sean (Philly)
In case you wanted to know...Actor Matt Damon says the selection of Sarah Palin as the Republican nominee for vice president in the United States could end up "like a really bad Disney movie" if John McCain wins the November presidential election.
evan (fort lauderdale)
funny how the cubbies get to play in milwaukee....holy home game and sellout crowd
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Is there a worse feeling than having two female friends pick apart all your flaws while you're in the room?
Neal (Philly)
Thanks for bringing in Chase, Buzz. I'll try not to make fun of you today as your reward.
Rick (Tampa,FL)
Thanks for having Chace Buzz. As an official for about 30 years I feel bad for mr. Hochuli, Blown calls is an officials worst nightmare, im sure he did not sleep very well last night. By the way morning nation and Buzz.
Brian (Madison, WI)
I'm not sure it can get any lower for the Brewers. Their 4 game lead in the wild card disappears in 4 days at the hand of the Phillies and then Big Los throws a no-no in their homepark while they are on the road. Ouch.
Buzzmaster (10:19 AM)
Yeah, you must be feeling pretty conflicted right now Brian Boo-Boo.
Christian (High Point, NC)
Somebody send a Whaaaaaambulance over to Bristol, we have a man named Buzzmaster who is suffering mightily.
Dear Astros Management
You couldn't have asked MLB to move the games somewhere down South ? Is Minute Maid the only baseball field in the Southern US ? Maybe thought about NM, AZ, LA, OK, MS, AL, NV
tom* (parkville, md)
I'm amazed at how my Detroit Lions can consistantly find a fresh piece of my heart to crush.
evan (fort lauderdale)
i call shennigans buzz!!!! didnt you vote for mayor McCheese?
Mark(HOF City )
Goooooood Moooorning!!! I am back and ready to go! My Chiefs suck, my Royals can only beat the Indians add my Hogs postponed their Alamo! All in all, not a bad weekend.
Mike (Belvidere, IL)
Astro fans can get mad at the Cubs and MLB all they want...but their owner is really to blame. He drug his feet hoping to keep the home game. He should have made alternative arrangements a week ago.
Robert (Raleigh NC)
So I got a first degree burn on my right leg that is 9 X 4 inches this weekend. Hope everyone had as good as weekend as me (sarcasm).
Buzzmaster (10:21 AM)
Did you get burned by the dryer in the laundry room? Get distracted folding all those white sheets and old blankets?
Nate (Madison)
Ryan Braun said it best. It can only go one way and if it doesn't soon they're basically done. He called them out after the Sox series and they bounced back in a big way. Can only hope they do it again.
Jonathan Winston Salem, NC
Dear ESPN,I am upset that you guys did not post my question for Chase! No disrespect to the poster but "What are you doing today" is a stupid post! I asked if Charlie Manuel getting ejected a lot this year helps or hurts the team...you guys are lame I thought we were going to talk about sports
Buzzmaster (10:22 AM)
Well, that was just silly of you.
Jeff (Iowa)
At the risk of ticking off Eric from Hacketttown NJ, good Morning, Buzz.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
Riots are hell in the joint, huh Robert.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
No physical damage here, but I came to find out in the length of the Colts game that I know absolutely nothing about anything.
Neal (Philly)
Sorry to hear you burned yourself making license plates, Robert.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
I caught the 1st 5 minutes of SNL after the USC v OSU game and Tina Fey was funny as Sarah Palin.
Brian (Madison, WI)
How am I feeling conflicted Lady Buzz? I own a Carlos Zambrano jersey.
Buzzmaster (10:23 AM)
Easy there.
Jack (NB Canada)
2-named poster strikes again, when will these guys ever learn?
BJ (Carmel, NY)
Two name theory going once...going twice...
Matt (IN)
That's a personal foul against Jonathan for whining
Sean (Philly)
BOOOOOOOOooooooooo
Tim (Iowa)
You wanna feel sorry for someone. George Steinbrenner. Spend over 200 million for a fourth place finish. And to add insult. Nobody cares
Matt (IN)
Hahahaha..owning a Z jersey matters? BOOOOOOOOOOOO
Greg (Boston)
So I did the NY stadium swing this weekend to say goodbye, Yankees stadium is a dump with despondent fans and Shea was pleasantly surprising...And i saw the port o John Liz used to live in
Nivek (Manassas)
I can't believe Big-Z got a no hitter. Don't worry though, the curse will still hit the Cubs in the playoffs. Boo Cubbies.
Buzzmaster (10:24 AM)
Sort of clever. But shouldn't your location be Sassanam?
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
Buzz I am upset that you didn't post my question to Chase Utley about which was his favorite exit on the Jersey Turnpike.
Tom (Chicago)
Well, after watching stuff about the new Wall Street crisis, it's official: I'm moving to Canada.
Jeremy (Boston)
I caught all of SNL, (on DVR)....boy has SNL gone downhill. I didn't find a single scetch funny. And I don't blame Michael Phelps....who is writing that pure Pulse.
Buzzmaster (10:25 AM)
I didn't get to see it, because, yes that's right again, my satelitte and therefore my DVR wasn't working. Don't worry, I'll continue to moan about it.
Jeff (Iowa)
Buzz, I am actually chatting while on vacation. How lame is that? Oh, and my vacation consists of a rather lengthy honey-do list. It's one of those take it before you lose deals.
Matt (IN)
How long did it take you to type out 'Sassanam' Buzz?
Reid (Tenn)
there is a reason they call him big z....FAT
The Vikings (Kicking Field Goals)
What happens if you cross the ball over that line at the end of the field? It's only two points right, field goals are so much better.
Denny's Spokesman (Denny's Headquarters)
Thanks to Big Z to pitch a no hitter. Obviously his Grand Slams he eats every morning lead to this. So if you want to sucseed in life. Eat Denny's GRAND SLAMS
Godish (Chicago)
Stupid Bears. I'll call into a sports radio show and tell them how to fix the Bears because I know all.
Robert (Raleigh NC)
Two name poster theory doesn't apply to Jonathan. There is town in NC called Winston Salem. A small university named Wake Forest is there.
Vince ( NYC )
University of Phoenix Football > ITT TECH Football > Syracuse Football
Buzz (Bristol)
I want my MTV.
Nate (Madison)
Tom, if a certain old man wins the bid for the White House I'll be joining you. I'm thinking Toronto.
Neal (Philly)
Buzz needs to stop with the bitter beer face. Whoops, sorry.
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
You sure it's not an oversized paperplate on your roof?
evan (fort lauderdale)
i'm sure nbc will repeat that episode at least 3 times in the next 12 months
Nate (Madison)
Buzz how many games did you watch this weekend? Oh, wait, your dish is out. Nevermind.
Jeff (Iowa)
You got the stupid Bears part right, Godish.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
I leave for New Orleans tomorrow! Whew Hoooo. 1 day at the zoo with my 2 year old 1/2 day with his B-day party and the rest of the time either drunk, gambling at Harrah's, or playing golf. Or a combination of the 3.
Jarsal (Rhode Island)
I was at Yankee stadium earlier this summer, saw the yanks come back from 1 down in the bottom of the ninth to win, it was one of the best sports related experiences of my life. Although I will say I enjoyed going to Fenway too.
Internet Whiner Guy (Here)
Buzz, you whine all the time! We must be brothers!
Clinton (Indianapolis)
You got a problem with fat people, Reid?
Christian (High Point, NC)
Chad is a model parent.
Pete (NC)
People still watch SNL?
Robert (Raleigh NC)
There is a 90% chance Chad's child will be my cellmate.
Charlie Weis (crutches)
Surgery can wait.
Bob(Lowell, Ma)
Buzz, when do you have time to watch TV anyway? Arn't you looking for a new house?
Buzzmaster (10:30 AM)
Yes, but you can't exactly be looking for houses at 10 at night.
Kevin (Manassas)
Big Z and the Cubs returned to action last night, and it is safe to say that Big Z is back after throwing a no hitter. Big Z was dominant, and I bet Brewers fans loved that he did it in Miller Park while the Brewers were busy blowing their wildcard lead to the Phillies. The Cubs will win again tonight with Ted Lilly on the mound. Congrats Big Z! Go Cubbies!
Nick (NJ)
I told my gf (who works on Wall Street) about a week ago that Lehman is going under and she responded by saying "no way, you have no idea what your talking about".
John (Small Town Indiana)
As for the 2 point try, it was brilliant. He knew the Broncos defense couldnt stop anyone, so he had to go for the win. If it had gone to overtime and they lost the flip, they would of lost the game.
Tarvaris Jackson (in hiding)
I wonder if it's safe to come out now.
Nate (MN)
BB Chat: I have Dan winning. Buzz?
Buzzmaster (10:32 AM)
If they vote on game play and not personal issues, he should win.
Pete (NC)
The stars must be aligning just right bc the Panthers and the Heels are both 2-0.
Ben (Charlotte)
Buzz, you should get Chad from Million Dollar Listing to help you with your new house, except it would just be a $20k listing.
Paul (Bird Island Mn)
Yeah but if the people in the house are asleep it makes it easier to look around.
Steve (NJ)
Buzz, that's called 'casing the joint', as Robert could tell you.
Rick (Tampa,FL)
Buzz, my wife is exspecting birth of our first child next week. Can I/her get a congrats sir.
Buzzmaster (10:32 AM)
Congrats. Now don't go messing this one up.
Bob(Lowell, Ma)
Just spend Sunday afternoon going to open houses and sit in the living room and watch their tv.
Buzzmaster (10:32 AM)
Good point.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
So Nick's girlfriend is a meter maid who is assigned to Wall Street. Good to know.
Buzzmaster (10:33 AM)
Can you ever park on Wall Street anymore?
wammer122 (CA.)
CHARGERS LOSE TO HERCULES , I SAW THE HOLY ROLLER. NOW I'VE SEEN EVERYTHING. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS WAS ALLOWED IN TODAY'S N.F.L.
Buzzmaster (10:33 AM)
Translation?
Robert (Raleigh NC)
Dan should win. I think he's got Renny, Keisha, Michelle and Libra. I think the only def. no's he has is April and Ollie.
evan (fort lauderdale)
congrats rick!!! will your child ever wear a referee onesie?
Sean (Philly)
I got outside this morning, hop in the car, and notice Lady Sean's tire is flat. So I change it, and the spare is flat as well...it was a fun morning.
Brian (Madison, WI)
Kevin's aware that the Cubs don't play tonight right? They play in about 3.5 hours.
Nate (Madison)
So the price of oil drops again, refineries didn't get flooded, hurricanes haven't damaged our pipelines or platforms nearly as bad as they thought they might have, yet gas prices still shot up. Starting to get ridiculous. Well it's never stopped being ridiculous, so I guess it just got more ridiculous.
Buzzmaster (10:35 AM)
Is it just me or does it seem like every time a hurricane passes through the gulf oil prices go up, because there might be some damage. And once the hurricane passes, we hear about how they weren't damaged as much as they thought and prices are supposed to go down.
evan (fort lauderdale)
gas shot up about 25 cents a gallon from last friday to today over here
Theo ( Phila)
Had direct tv free strz weekend. Saw Pirates of the Carribean dead man curse, four times. I need toget out more often
Confused (Home)
We need Ray Gordon Reed to translate wammer122.
Craig (you know)
good for you chad, good for you
Matt (IN)
I think the translation is that RGR is a Chargers fan
Kate (Boston)
Matt Cassell = Tom Brady. Of course I'm kidding, but I can't help but laugh a little about this one. Most Jets fans that I read comments from were putting this one in the W column all week and gloating that the division was theirs.
Jack (NB Canada)
ONB?
Buzzmaster (10:36 AM)
Sure, let's take a look.
one (los angeles)
solution are victories that build are morals.Triumph recongize are strengths to carry on
Harrison Antognioni (Colchester, VT)
Are the Broncos a ligitimate threat to make the post season?
Billy McLaurin (Goldsboro,NC)
Do u think Peterson will get NFl MVP this year if not who will
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
I would like to congratulate Carlos Zambrano on a great no-hitter last night at Miller Park. Even though I'm a diehard Brewer fan, I can't not congratulate him. Go Marinette Marines! I AM OUTTA HERE!
maughty ma (oklahoma)
when the patriots make it to the playoffs with cassel do you put in brady or leave cassel
Mell Stokes (Mt. Olive, NC)
How much will OSU's crushing defeat against the Trojans affect the rest of their season
Buzzmaster (10:37 AM)
And that's it.
Nate (Madison)
Exactly, what happened to raising prices WHEN the damage occurs. I think I might try this gimmick at work. I want a raise because I'm predicting I might be more productive in the future.
Mark(HOF City )
As I have said over and over, oil company execs are one of the lowest forms of soul-less, vile and despicable human beings on earth. Second only to the spine-less, worthles and blind politicians who allow them to run over the American people at their whim.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Oil has dropped because the refineries have 0 demand for it since they are shut down. Gas goes up because the refineries aren't making gas until the power comes back on. Duh!
Jeff (Iowa)
The Wammer was good in The Natural.
Carl (Lansing, MI)
Did any other cities have this weird run on gas on Friday afternoon with lines around the block at gas stations?
Christian (High Point, NC)
Hurricanes cause oil prices to go up because they threaten the oil platforms in the Gulf, not the refineries. Gas prices go up because the refineries are threatened.
Matt (IN)
It was 3.65 here for regular unleaded on Thursday. 4.29 yesterday
Oil Man (Everywhere)
Very clever, dork.
Nate (MN)
Keishas really angry at Dan for using her to get a vote. Shes definetely going to vote for memphis but I think Dan has ollie jerry and renny which would leave april to vote dan also.
Buzzmaster (10:38 AM)
Dan doesn't have Ollie.
Ryan (San Diego)
I feel as if Ed Hochuli came to my house and assaulted me. I will never be the same again
Kevin (Manassas)
I would also like to congratulate Jim Zorn on getting his first win as a head coach. Jason Campbell and the offense looked much better this week, and this is the first win of many for Zorn. Go Skins!
Al Davis (Death Star)
Buzz, I'm going to fire you.
Buzzmaster (10:39 AM)
You have to find me first and since you clearly are incapable of finding competent, talented people, I feel safe.
Charlton Heston (Heaven's NRA)
I'm causing all these hurricanes to make you people realize that gun's don't kill people, hurricanes do!
Mark(HOF City)
Gas prices go up because they CAN! That is all you need to know.
Larry (Omaha)
If you don't have the oil coming out of the Gulf and into the refinery, you can't make gasoline, and prices go up because the demand is great and the supply is short. Nate, don't they teach economics in Wisconsin?
Paul (Bird Island Mn)
My car runs on my own self satifaction so I don't have a this problem.
James (Boston, MA)
Kate, please do us Pats fans a favor and SHUT UP!! We do not need any more bad Karma...
Christian (High Point, NC)
Actually, Buzz, wouldn't that mean you weren't safe?
Buzzmaster (10:41 AM)
Oh yeah, good point.
Steve (NJ)
Buzz just made me spit coffee. Competent and talented?
Tom (PA)
Did Buzz just call himself competent and talented? Those type of people get paid more than 20K, you need to do something about that Buzz.
Lane Kiffen
Thanks for kicking me while I'm down, Buzz. You stink yourself.
Nate (Madison)
I hope Al Davis fires Kiffen. I think Kiffen has a bright future as a coach and doesn't deserve to be wasting away in Oakland under that guy.
Jeremy (Boston)
Larry, gas goes up because of the perception that is going to happen, and that allows it to happen cause people accept it.
Bob(Lowell, Ma)
Mark(HOF City), could you be a little clearer on your feelings for oil execs and which HOF city are you from?
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
Blood oil? There's always supply
Nate (Madison)
Larry, do you really believe that? I mean, you really think it's because the supply is that short it has to dump up 20 to 30 cents because the refineries were shut down for three days?
Robert (Raleigh NC)
Buzz I think you have talent. I mean its a hard day of work sitting at ESPN studio all day in a chair at a computer chatting with people and talking with celebs and athletes. Really, its honest work that I'm sure our forefathers would be proud of.
Mike (Belvidere, IL)
Well, its 20K plus tips right Buzz?
Matt Millen (Detroit)
When will Al Davis call me?
Neal (Philly)
Al Davis wants to bring back John Madden.
Steve (NJ)
Personally, I thought the Jets were actually going to be a good team...more's the fool I, I suppose.
tom* (parkville, md)
Gas goes up because vapors rise.
Dan (Bridgewater, NJ)
The Mets are slipping!!! This is your shot. Who's the leader in the clubhouse that motivates everyone come the end of the season?
Sean (Philly)
Buzz, the oil price goes when there is a chance that oil production will be affected. This is because of trading in oil futures. The US is thinking about banning this practice, which may help.
Nate (Madison)
I blame ESPN and the Syracuse Orange mascot for gas prices.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
20k plus steak tips would be a pretty sweet job.
Larry (Omaha)
Nate, do you believe a soda at 7-11 is really worth 99 cents, because there's about 5 cents of stuff init. Yet, you pay it. It's all supply and demand.
Nate (Madison)
How many trials has OJ had? I mean it's starting to be an everyday occurance to the point I don't even care or read the articles.
Steve (MA via East Hartford)
I like how oil drops from $150 a barrel to $100 a barrel, but gas drops from $4.09 to $3.69.
The Suits (Bristol)
Congrats, Buzz. We've given you a raise, you will now work in the laundry in addition to your restroom cleaning. We're paying you $0.19 an hour now. Consider yourself blessed.
ted (dc)
where is chase utley?
Buzzmaster (10:45 AM)
Ya missed him.
Mike (Belvidere, IL)
That's why when I go to 7-11 I always chug 15-20 glasses of soda before walking out. I'm a bit jittery afterwards, but better than letting the man get paid.
Jessica Simpson (Dallas)
I can't wait to see my Cowboys beat the Eagles by 1 run. Go Cowboys!!
Ben (Charlotte)
My friend's dad is a big wig in the oil business, so we made my friend by all the beer at the bar on Saturday.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Buzz actually makes $9.615 an hr to equal his $20K a year salary.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
Supply and demand=great MB topic
Jarsal (Rhode Island)
I like how the Giants looked this week, I think that they'll be 4-0 after week 5, and make the playoffs as a wild card. Oh yeah, and I drive a 35+ MPG car, so should all of you, much cheaper to buy, and to supply with gas.
Jessica Simpson (Dallas)
My Romo will hit 2 homeruns tonight...write it down...hehe
Pete (Ny )
Jessica, don't your mean Romoboys
Mark(HOF City )
I have no respect for any executive in an industry that can report record profits while the people generating those profits have to choose between fuel and food. In times of crisis, you do not make excessive, disgusting profits. And, it is the HOF city in NE Ohio. The football one.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
So chad keeps a calculator handy. Or he is Rain Man.
Ben (Charlotte)
If we could get some supply and demand graphs this chat would be one for the ages.
Tony Romo (Dallas)
In football you win by strokes, not runs. Right guys?
Rick (Tampa,FL)
Rays and Cubs in WS...
evan (fort lauderdale)
well ben, at least u had free beer while watching your buckeyes get beat down
Chad (Savannah, GA)
You know what is always in supply and demand. Women.
evan (fort lauderdale)
i beleive pop tarts are a perfectly inelastic item. Buzz would pay any price for em
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
He wears a big wig?
Tom (PA)
Actually since the Suits never let Buzz leave at night or take off weekends and holidays he makes $2.2831 an hour.
Steve (MA via East Hartford)
$9.615 an hour? That's not even $50 a week for Buzz!
Steve (NJ)
Girlfriend's mother and I got into an argument about mice SAturday: she claimed they don't have spines. My girlfriend, the science teacher, backed her up. And I'm marrying into this family?
Sean (Philly)
Actually, since Buzz only works an hour a day, 5 days a week, he makes close to $77 an hour.
Nick L
Romo can date my ex-wife.......trust me, no matter how hot, it will get old after a year, and then she has nothing to offer.
Godish (Chicago)
The Dish is participating in a focus group tonight and the subject is NBC's The Office. He's getting paid to discuss The Office. I have one today for beer. Whose focus group is better?
BJ (Carmel, NY)
If your choosing between fuel and food, than maybe you could have both if you did without TV...do you hate the Cable Execs?
evan (fort lauderdale)
in back to the future, the cubs did sweep a team from fla in the ws
The Suits (Bristol)
You idiots have it all wrong. Buzz hardly works, that's why he makes $0.19 an hour. Meanwhile we pay The Pulse $65,000 a day
Steve (MA via East Hartford)
They both think mice are a bunch of cowards?
Rick (Tampa,FL)
where is this chat going, wait a min, 10:51 AM ET ( LLLLUUUUNNNNCCCCHHHH )
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Lunch: I don't even remember what I brought. Having a really bad day.
Prince (Pittsburgh)
Lunch: Undecided
tom* (parkville, md)
Amebamice
Jeff (Iowa)
I'm guessing a burger and fries at the golf course for lunch.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
The wife is off of work today so lunch will be whereever she wants to go except sushi. Never eat sushi on a Monday. Trust me on this one.
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
Lunch: probably fast food, although I did have a brownie and a donut a few minutes ago
Nate (Madison)
Going to Subway today, when I go to the cell phone store to get my number switched to my old phone because my new one just basically died.
Mike (Ohio)
McRibs are back. Heaven.
Patrick (Louisville)
Heck of a wind storm. No power, so its eating out for lunch! Car parked behind and in front of mine got totalled. I'm one lucky guy today.
Mike (Belvidere, IL)
Lunch...day 1 of the gym and eating healthy. So I'll be having something not greasy, aka something that doesn't taste good.
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
I've never felt more lost during TMB until today...I have no idea what went on here today.
Steve (NJ)
lunch: turkey sammich and a bottle of H2O. possibly a fit of crying over my lack of sustenance
Paul (Bird Island Mn)
Steve you should have killed a mouse and skined it in front of them.
Christian (High Point, NC)
Still have a couple mushroom sausages left from last week, having one today.
Bob(Lowell, Ma)
Clinton, at your age it's not unusual to forget. Hopefully it something you don't have to chew much.
Neal (Philly)
Alzheimer's is starting to set in for Clinton.
Brian (Madison, WI)
Might have to rock a McRib for lunch today and have find a phone charger because apparently mine got up and walked away sometime this weekend.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Humble Pie for everyone at OSU for lunch.
Tom (PA)
Patrick, that makes you look guilty...if you are destroying other peoples cars you shouldn't leave yours un harmed right next to them.
Prince (Pittsburgh)
Almost forgot: Cleveland Sucks!
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
Mushroom sausages from last week doesn't sound very safe
Matt (IN)
Yeah, skin the mouse then hold it up and say 'SHENANIGANS!'
Jeff (Iowa)
Buzz, I better get to my list so I can go play golf later. Have a good Monday, everyone, and if I don't check in tomorrow, it's because I've found something better to do. Peace out.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
Fact: jellymice do not have spines
Mike (Belvidere, IL)
I think Chase being here messed the whole hour up. Usually the schedule goes as follows: 9:02-9:10 - people complaining about Buzz being late; 9:10-9:50 - complete nonsense; 9:50-10:00 lunch chat
Pete (NC)
Am I the only one who takes leftovers home? My buddy left half his pizza at the bar yesterday.
Patrick (Louisville)
I caused oak trees to crash across the road? I'm slightly more powerful than I thought!
Tom (PA)
Dallas Sucks! E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES! They will be exposing the overrated Cowgirls tonight. Birds 34 Girls 16
Sean (Philly)
I just cut open a Mickey doll, and it did not have a spine.
Nate (Madison)
53 degrees right now. Ughhh, where did summer go.
Mark(HOF City )
Did I see Humble Pie?? With Peter Framton and live and the Filmore??? Been there, done that.
Steve (NJ)
I prefer days like today where the nonsense is incomplete. It feels more right.
Rick (Tampa,FL)
Im with Nate on this one, going with eat fresh today, have a good rest of your Monday nation and Buzz. See ya on the other side.
Neal (Philly)
I don't usually have leftovers.
Mike (Belvidere, IL)
Depends on the leftovers...pizza, absolutely. Lot of times its better the next day.
Sean (Philly)
Here's to hoping that Tom does not have to eat crow for lunch tomorrow.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Sean just annouced that he defaced a Disney product on a Disney owned entity. Is that a banable offense?
Buzzmaster (10:59 AM)
Well, he had to buy the product. Now his product is destroyed and therefore has to go and buy another product. Thanks, Sean, for helping pay my 20K.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
See ya, guys. Have a good rest of your Monday.
Raven (Treet)
Nevermore, Buzz...nevermore
Chris (illadelphia)
It's not the gas you're buying that's funding terrorism, it's the carbonated beverages. Wise up people
Ben (Charlotte)
I think Sean deserves a pat on his back (with a spine).
Buzzmaster (11:02 AM)
Thanks for stopping by everyone. Be sure to check out our Monday Night Football chat this afternoon. Until tomorrow, stay classy, ya hear?
Christian (High Point, NC)
Everyone have a good Monday. Or else.
Bob(Lowell, Ma)
Mighty Mouse has a spine.
