Alex: (Sewanee, Tennessee)
Bill, the Broncos' secondary is pretty weak. Aside from Champ Bailey, I feel like they really have no one who can stop the pass. Yes, I am including Dre' Bly in that category. What do you think our chances of going out and picking up another corner are? Fakhir Brown is now on the market, and he was a starting-caliber corner. I don't really know much about who is out there, but I'm sure there is an upgrade on Karl Paymah. If we do not go out and pick up another corner, I feel like Jack WIlliams needs to get some field time on defense. Your thoughts?
Bill Williamson (2:03 PM)
Look for Jack Williams to get some playing time soon. He reminds many at Dove Valley of Darrent Williams because he plays bigger than he is and he is a ball hawk.
Jordan (Los Angeles, Ca)
Whats up Bill? Do you think we will have two teams come out of the AFC West for the Playoffs this year?
Bill Williamson (2:05 PM)
At this point, it looks very promising that both the Chargers and the Broncos will make the playoffs. But it is early.
Randy (Grove, OK)
I know we're only 3 games into a long season but can you see anything to be optimistic about in Kansas City?
Bill Williamson (2:05 PM)
2010.
PT (Franklin, NC)
What are the odds that Kiffin is done after this week, assuming they lose to the Chargers?
Bill Williamson (2:06 PM)
I'd say pretty good but this thing has been hovering for almost two weeks and nothing has happened.
Josiah(MA)
Is Brandon Marshall the best wr in the game?
Bill Williamson (2:07 PM)
Vry soon, yes. He is a monster.
Schon (Walnut Creek, CA)
Relatively quiet move but the Raiders signed Ben Troupe last weekend. I remember him being herald as a great young tight end. Any chance he will give anything to the Raiders this season?
Bill Williamson (2:08 PM)
Yes, I think he will be in the mix with Miller. he cna also block in the run game. He's a decent pickup.
Vinnie (NYC)
Bill, if you had to choose the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string Pro-Bowl QB's right now for each conference, who would they be?
Bill Williamson (2:09 PM)
Wow, it's ealry but why not. AFC: Cutler, Rivers, Trent Edwards NFC Romo, Manning, McNabb
David (Chesapeake, VA)
hey bill , what do you think the out come will be in the packers-bucks game this sunday?
Bill Williamson (2:10 PM)
Packers
Steve (Buffalo, NY)
Do you think Millen is headed west to Oakland?
Bill Williamson (2:10 PM)
It wouldn't be a shock, if down the road, he surfaces with Al. The two remain close.
Jessica (Mount Joy, PA)
Will they start using Jarvis Moss as a linebacker if they use the 3-4 defense more often? Jarvis hasnt really panned out at DE and maybe they see him as a rushing OLB in a 3-4
Bill Williamson (2:11 PM)
Let's see if they continue the 3-4. But it's not a bad idea. They have to get Moss going somehow.
Todd (South Dakota)
Should the Broncos trade a draft pick now for a pass rusher?
Bill Williamson (2:12 PM)
Who's out there that would be available?
Jake (VA Beach)
Do you know where S Holmes' breakout year is hiding?
Bill Williamson (2:12 PM)
Call the Pittsburgh police on that one.
Travis, SLC
Will San Diego come back and give Denver a run for their money for the division?
Bill Williamson (2:13 PM)
Yes, without a doubt, It could can down to the Dc. 28 regular season finale in San Dieog for the division crown.
PT (Franklin, NC)
Do you think Johnnie Lee Higgins should replace Ronald Curry in the Raiders starting WR corps?
Bill Williamson (2:13 PM)
Or Walker. Give Higgins some more playing time.
Chris (Bakersfield,CA)
Bill what do you think of the Broncos running a hybrid 4-3 and 3-4 defense during the game, like they did in the second half of the saints game.
Bill Williamson (2:14 PM)
It was just a diffrent look. It will be interesting to see if they stick with it.
Vinnie (NYC)
Bill, assuming the Browns are found responsible for gouging McGahee's eyes, what do you think an appropriate punishment should be?
Bill Williamson (2:14 PM)
A short suspension.
kevin (casper wyoming)
will the broncos have at least three sacks this weekend vs the cheifs
Bill Williamson (2:15 PM)
This is the game you would think they'd come alive. The Chiefs have allowed 11 sacks in three games.
Tim (Independence, MO)
A lot of attention is focused on the poor play of the Chiefs offense, but most expected the offense to struggle. The defense was expected to be a unit that could at least work towards keeping the team in games, but through the first 3 games, the Chiefs' defense has been bad. Have you heard any talk about why the Chiefs defense, now in Herm's 3rd year, is so disappointing?
Bill Williamson (2:17 PM)
It's just so young in key spots. There is talent there. Give it a little time although I now watching them give up 38 to a rookie quarterbakc is frustrating.
fred(detroit, Mi)
Whats your predications for the broncos this year? How far they go in the playoffs?
Bill Williamson (2:17 PM)
It all depends on if the defense can get it together.
Dave (Danville, CA)
Do you think any team will give the Chiefs and offer for Tony Gonzalez, and if so, who are possibilities? I see the Shockey deal as a fair equivalent to measure a deal for Gonzalez.
Bill Williamson (2:19 PM)
Gonzalez is several years older than Shockey so the value wouldn't be the same. I see this being an issue in the offseason. I'd be surpirsed fi Gonzalez is traded during this season.
Thompson Seattle
Honest question...What do you think about the nex Raiders staff? it's HC James Lofton, OC Paul Hackett and OL Coach Keith Rowen...do you think they can do better than Kiffin, Knapp and Cable?. Lofton seems to lead well, Hackett is a bright guy and Rowen is a proven 20 year veteran...
Bill Williamson (2:21 PM)
Yeah they are good but Kiffin's staff isn't bad. Cable is very good. remember, this team has played hard in the past couple of weeks. I don't think the staff is the issue.
Tom (Hackensack)
How about LJ...could you see him going anywhere? he could be huge for other teams...
Bill Williamson (2:21 PM)
Johnsonis another player who could be on his way out after the season in Kansas City.
Jim (Washington DC)
AFC West is boring stop talking only about them... Show the NFC BEAST respect!!!!!
Bill Williamson (2:22 PM)
Sorry for talking the AFC West in an AFC West chat. What were we thinking?
Juan (Santa Fe, NM)
With the uncomfortable situation in Oakland, is there any possible way that Commisioner Roger Godell could somehow intervene? Al Davis is running this team into the ground.
Bill Williamson (2:24 PM)
Here's my thought on that: Goodell got invovled in the Brett Favre saga this summer, why can't he get involsed with this issue in Oakland?
John (Sacramento, Ca)
Al Davis. Do you think he reads all the negative artical written about him, and the fan support for Kiffin. Will he ever wake up and realize that his antics are what is making things difficult for his team to get on the right track? That he is the only thing that has remained the same in these years of failure?
Bill Williamson (2:25 PM)
Al Davis is a very aware, sharp person. He knows everything that is going on.
Ben (New York City)
What difference could Ian Scott make for the Chargers' D-line? They just signed him.
Bill Williamson (2:25 PM)
He's just a backup at this point.
Dave (Chicago, IL)
What's happened to Elvis Dumervil? He was supposed to be a monster in the pass rush coming into the season. He has 0 sacks through 3 games.
Bill Williamson (2:26 PM)
He has a hand injury that is badly hampering him.
Ben (New York City)
Does the loss of Tom Nalen hurt the Broncos? Or was he way past his prime anyway?
Bill Williamson (2:26 PM)
Nalen is a great player but he is nearing the end if he hasn't already. The team is happy with Casey Wiegmann.
Eric (San Diego)
Do you think LT will get back to form soon?
Bill Williamson (2:28 PM)
It may be a couple more weeks before he is feeling 100 percent but give LT credit for playing through the injury.
Don(Omaha)
Ryan Torrain...cant wait till this kid gets back..its unreal that Denver's O could actually get better than they already are..thoughts?
Bill Williamson (2:29 PM)
The Broncos are very excited abotu what he can bring to the offense in the seond half of the season. He is targeting Oct. 20 at New England for his return date.
Michael (Colorado Springs,CO)
Who is more calm under pressure, Jay Cutler or Phillip Rivers?
Bill Williamson (2:29 PM)
They are both pretty poised.
Mike(Dallas)
The Cowboys have left at least 17 points on the board in their first three games with red zone picks and fumbles. With that said if they eliminate the turnovers can their offense be as potent as the '07 Patriots?
Bill Williamson (2:30 PM)
That 2007 New England offense was pretty potent but Dallas has some great pieces.
James (San Diego)
You covered the Broncos, so give it to me straight: How big of a jerk is Mike Shanahan?
Bill Williamson (2:31 PM)
All I can do to judge folks is how they treat me and Mike Shanahan has always been good to me.
Alex (Durango, CO)
Bill, do you see any chance of an upset this weekend in the AFC West? Or are Denver and SD just on a different level than the Chiefs and Raiders?
Bill Williamson (2:32 PM)
The Raiders can be tough to handle at home. That's no gimmee for the Chargers.
Brendan (Baltimore)
Speaking of Nalen, how good are his chances of becoming the third Bronco in the Hall? 5 pro bowls, couple of super bowl rings, countless 1000 yard seasons. The only thing the guy never did was get a good haircut!
Bill Williamson (2:33 PM)
Shannon Sharpe will be the third Bronco next year. I think Nalen belongs but he will have a long wait, I think.
Matt (New York)
Who wins KC or USC if they played a game?
Bill Williamson (2:34 PM)
Depends on the coin toss in overtime.
Josh Phoenix,Az
Prediction For San Diego's Regular Season Record?
Bill Williamson (2:34 PM)
11-5
David (Espanola, NM)
What's the deal with JaMarcus Russell? His last two starts have been pitiful and only one play, an 84 yard pass to Johnnie Lee Higgins padded his stats. Do you think Kiffin is mis-using him?
Bill Williamson (2:35 PM)
Kiffin is protecting him for sure. He is slowly bringing him along. Russell throw just three passes in the second half at Buffalo.
Ed Hochuli
11-5? not if i can do something about it...
Bill Williamson (2:36 PM)
I have a feeling you may not get the chance.
Josh Denver
Bill are you related to Will Billiamson?
Bill Williamson (2:36 PM)
Distant cousin.
James (San Diego)
Can Chargers recover and make a deep playoff run? Or is their Defense beyond repair?
Bill Williamson (2:37 PM)
If the Chargers can continue the strong pass rush from Monday night they will be just fine.
Mark (Denver)
how good are the 2 Ryan's playing so far this year on the Bronco O line? are you surprised?
Bill Williamson (2:38 PM)
They are doing great, Yes, it's a surprise that two first-time staretrs have ben so dominant.
Brandon (Bellevue, WA)
Gonzo, best TE in the history of the league?
Bill Williamson (2:38 PM)
No question, yes.
joe(tampa)
has the broncos caught up with the chargers in talent?
Bill Williamson (2:38 PM)
Not quite yet.
Ben (Denton, Tx)
Bill, what are the chances that the way things are going in Detroit, they trade a player like Roy Williams to the Cowboys for a draft pick or 2 and start rebuilding? I know Roy has expressed a desire to play in Dallas, and Jerry has never been shy when it comes to pulling the trigger on a blockbuster deal like this?
Bill Williamson (2:40 PM)
You may be on to something, Ben. Dallas would be deadly with Roy Williams.
Zac (Denver)
Why hasn't Eddie Royal been returning kickoffs this season? Wasn't his speed and returning ability the reason we drafted him in the second round?
Bill Williamson (2:41 PM)
They are keeping him to be a starting receiver and a punt returner. They like Ande Hall as a kick returner.
Steve (sd)
Gonzo is not the best! what about Kellen Winslow and Gate
Bill Williamson (2:43 PM)
Hard to argue with the NFL's all-time leader in touchdowns, receptions and yardage for tight ends. He is 50 yards shy of breaking the yargade record and he alreayd owns the rceptions and TD records. How can that be argued?
Vinnie (NYC)
Bill, do you miss Philip Rivers taunting the opposing teams' crowds?
Bill Williamson (2:44 PM)
It was always fun to watch, right?
Nick (Montreal)
Bill, what are the chances that the Broncos make a trade before the deadline to improve their defense and what player(s) do you think could be acquired?
Bill Williamson (2:45 PM)
Depends on who is out there.
Homer (Chicago)
Bill, I gotta diasgree with ranking Cutler above Rivers. Do you really think by season's end that Peyton will be excluded from the AFC Pro Bowl team?
Bill Williamson (2:47 PM)
At this point, Cutler has better numbers. But they are both early MVP candidates.
ray gordon reid jacksonville fla 32266
QUESTION TO BILL WILLIAMSON AT 2.45 PM HI BILL WHO PLAY IN PLACE OF PLAXICO VS SEATTLE NEXT SUNDAY
Bill Williamson (2:47 PM)
I think the Giants are planning to play Domenik Hixon.
Keek (CO)
Who is Casey Weigmanns backup at Center now?
Bill Williamson (2:48 PM)
He's the starter with Nalen out for the year.
Greg (Kansas)
Bill, Did Carlton Powell see any snaps in training camp and if he did were you impressed or is he a work in progress.
Bill Williamson (2:48 PM)
He's injured.
Brandon (Indianapolis)
Colts fans are the biggest fairweather fans in the NFL. Do you agree?
Bill Williamson (2:50 PM)
All I know about Colts fans is they booed Brandon Stokley last year when he came back with Denver. The Colts cut the guy and he was booed by the hometown fans. Brandon Stokley was a great Colt and he is as good of a guy as you ever want to meet. That was shocking.
Ryan (San Diego)
Cutler has better numbers than Rivers? WHAT!?!? Rivers is tops in the NFL in qb rating, tds, yards per attempt, 3rd down rating and 3rd down conversions of 7 yards or more. There is absolutely no way Cutler has better numbers dude...cmon
Bill Williamson (2:53 PM)
Guess I was going by yardage and completion percentage. Ryan, settle down, bro. I love your guy Rivers. He's an MVP candidate. Enjoy it.
Brandon (Greensboro)
Hey Bill, Why can't Russell find Zach Miller... is it Miller or Russell? I really think that getting Miller involved would help the QB develop. What do you think?
Bill Williamson (2:55 PM)
Miller is a huge weapon. They have to figure out a way to get him loose.
Jason (Iowa)
Bill, is there any bigger lock this week than Denver over KC?
Bill Williamson (2:55 PM)
New England over Miami last week.
Almar (San Jose,CA)
Was it the Raiders defense or the lackluster play of the offense that lost it for them in Buffalo last week?
Bill Williamson (2:56 PM)
It was a total team breakdown in the fourth quarter.
Ryan (San Diego)
Sorry man, but i'm not a fan of Cutler at all and I think he's way overhyped when compared to Rivers
Bill Williamson (2:57 PM)
It's cool, dude. But they are both very, very good.
The Violator (Oakland)
FIRE AL! KEEP KIFFIN! WOO!!! GO RAIDERS!!!
Bill Williamson (2:57 PM)
Is this the The World Famous Violator?
Chris (Santa Barbara)
Bill which side of the fence are you on with Denver? Really good or really lucky? Because with the SD travesty and the N.O. no call I'm selling stock on the really lucky!
Bill Williamson (2:58 PM)
That offense isn't lucky, but yes, Denver has been lucky. That won't last all season but if the great offense does, Denver will be in good shape.
Morgan ( Oceanside, Ca)
Bill...Anything that the Chargers can do to bolster the pass rush? Is the loss of Merriman, injuries, defensive play calling? Monday night was better, but still not on par with the last couple of years...
Bill Williamson (2:59 PM)
Just hope that Jyles Tucker can continue to develop.
Alex (Durango, CO)
How about quick score predictions on the AFC West games this week so we can hassle you if you are wrong...and not acknowledge it when you are right.
Bill Williamson (3:00 PM)
Sounds like a win-win I can't pass up.
Bill Williamson (3:01 PM)
Hey guys, great times. Talk to you next Thursday. Enjoy Week 4 BW.
