Chat with the Fire's Jon Busch

This season, Busch has established himself as a stalwart in goal, starting every game for the Fire while going 11-8-5, which includes a .83 Goals Against Average. He spent much of last season as a reserve, however, managed to impress in his three starts. Busch has also earned caps with U.S. National team.
Send in your questions now and join Buschon Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET!

Jon Busch (3:03 PM)
Welcome to the chat!
Brett Lashbrook (5th Ave, NY)
Yo Jon!Why aren't more goalkeepers wearing pants during games? Props to your style.
Jon Busch (3:04 PM)
Well I only wear pants in training or on turf, the rest of the time I wear shorts. I think it's an old school thing.
Oreo (South Bronx)
Please comment on the recent CONCACAF Champions League losses by MLS Teams.
Jon Busch (3:06 PM)
Not to take away from the teams, it shows that the MLS needs to either lengthen its season and allow teams to focus on the competition or they need to make the rosters bigger. As you saw with New england, with the amount of injuries they had, they could not field the right team, and it makes our league look poor.
Alan (San Diego, CA)
Hey Jon, do you think Cuauhtemoc Blanco is going to leave next year to go back to play in Mexico? Also are you read fot MLS Prime Time Thursday vs LA Galaxy?
Jon Busch (3:07 PM)
In regards to Blanco I have no idea what those plans are. Only he knows. As far as the Thursday game, we are definitely ready to go and we know how important it is for us to get 3 points after the losses that we have had.
McLovin, Tampa Bay, FL.
What's poppin Jon,Big fan! Do you think the Fire will win it all this year? I don't.--Crew fan.
Jon Busch (3:09 PM)
You know what? I think if we are playing our best, which we have done at certain points than I think we have enough to win it. We need to be more consistent down the stretch. But if we are playing at our best, I think we have a good opportunity to do it. Thanks for the support.
David (Albany, NY)
Jon, home town props. Give me some insight as to how Brian McBride has influenced the team.
Jon Busch (3:10 PM)
Brian has been great since he got here. He is a true professional. His experience and leadership on and off the field has been invaluable. he has fit right in with the team and become just one of the boys.
Oreo (Bronx NY)
Who is the best locker room personality on the team?
Jon Busch (3:12 PM)
We have a couple interesting characters. I would put Blanco at the top of the list. He does not hold anything back in the locker room.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Do you like to watch any other sports?
Jon Busch (3:13 PM)
Yeah I am huge hockey fan. I played growing up through high school in New York. I love to weatch games, and I am going to watch the Blackhawks play the Blue Jackets tonight. When hockey season starts I am very happy man.
Cruz (Cambridge, MA)
Hey Jon,Have you been keeping tracking of your recrd breaking year? You're on pace to beat several records!
Jon Busch (3:14 PM)
I vaguely know about it, although the PR department keeps us up on it. But the only thing I keep track of are wins and losses. My only focus at this time are the wins. I would rather win more games and win more championships.
Skeeter (Va. Beach)
How do you feel your teams response will be after last weeks game? Good luck by-the-way...
Jon Busch (3:16 PM)
Thanks. I think we are going to be just fine. If that was the first game all seaosn where we did not show up to play on defense and we were very upset and nothing needed to be said. we know we played poorly. Every team goes through a spell like that and now it is about us getting out of it. That was our firdst game giving up more than 2 goals and it stung us and we felt like we let ourselves down. But we'll be fine and we are going to try and tighten things up this week.
Sam Pugsley (NY)
If you were the commissioner for a day what changes would you make in the MLS?
Jon Busch (3:17 PM)
I think I would give myself a raise, jk. I think one of the things we need to do is be more like the A League and allow each team their pot of money and let them do what they want with it and let them make their own decisions.
Jon Busch (3:18 PM)
Thanks everyone for the questions and I look forward to doing it again!
