Christopher Harris (3:01 PM)
Hi, everyone. Welcome to ESPN.com's Monday Night Football coverage. We'll start it off with an hour of fantasy, and then get to tonight's game. Let's get it started.....
Guy with a Question
Felix Jones on the rise with Romo out?
Christopher Harris (3:02 PM)
Yeah, GWQ, I think he is. Now, let's not go crazy: he's still not a starting fantasy RB every week. But provided the hamstring that limited Jones yesterday isn't going to hinder him for next week or two, I think Jones winds up being a flex play when the Cowboys face easier defenses, as they should this week against St. Louis.
Ryan STL
With Romo out who would you go with: Schaub, delhomme or Cassel?
Christopher Harris (3:05 PM)
Hi, Ryan. Yeah, Romo's injury, as broken by ESPN.com's own Michael Smith, is devastating: he's got a broken pinkie, and should miss a month. If I had to choose from among those guys, I'd probably go with Schaub over Delhomme for the rest of the year (Cassel really wouldn't figure into the equation). Romo owners will also be wondering about Brad Johnson; I think Johnson is probably with the add if you've got an open roster spot, but I can't see starting him until we know whether the Cowboys will be able to throw it deep with Johnson at the helm. I tend to think they won't.
Paul, NY
What's the word on Scheffler? I'm carrying Zach Miller as well currently and would really like to drop a TE.
Christopher Harris (3:07 PM)
Hi, Paul. The good news is that Scheffler has told reporters that he doesn't have a sports hernia, and that the injury that sidelined him yesterday is a groin. If that's really true, then there's a chance he could play as soon as Monday night (next week) against the Patriots.
Jeremy (Orlando, FL)
I have Warner to cover me at QB following his bye, but who is a good sleeper this week in place of Romo?
Christopher Harris (3:08 PM)
Hi, Jeremy. Obviously, it completely depends who's available. In deeper leagues, you might take a look at Gus Frerotte as a one-week guy. Despite the fact that the Lions really pushed him around Sunday, he still approached 300 yards passing, and he goes against a Bears secondary that is down to one healthy corner next week. I like him as a bye-week fill-in, though obviously only in deeper leagues.
Tim (Detroit)
Can I start Colston this week and feel good about it? I am 1-4-1 and in trouble of making the playoffs
Christopher Harris (3:10 PM)
Hi, Tim. Given that the game is six days away, I can't make you any promises. But the Saints were reportedly really close to letting Colston play yesterday, but privately believed they could beat the Raiders without him. Guess they were right. The New Orleans papers this morning were pretty positive about Colston practicing this week, and if he practices, he'll probably play.
John (FL)
With Warner and Garrard on bye I have Bulger filling in. Is he worth a roster spot after the other guys get off their byes?
Christopher Harris (3:11 PM)
Hi, John. What you're asking, I guess, is whether I have Bulger rated behind Warner and Garrard on my season-end list. And I do. So yeah, if you need the roster spot (and it's not a two-QB league), you could probably drop Bulger.
Brad (Nanuet, NY)
Ithaca is GORGEOUS! OK, now that I have that out of the way: Slaton & Chambers for Stephen Jackson. Thoughts? Would you keep Hester or Walter then to be WR #4 (bench behind Megatron, Fitz & Roddy Rody Piper)? Thanks!
Christopher Harris (3:14 PM)
Hi, Brad. Indeed, I am a Cornell alum, though I haven't been back since 2000. And I graduated quite a bit before then. I am very old. *Sigh*. Anyway, I like that deal pretty well. Jackson is going to get a ton of touches, for sure, and while the defensive lines he runs against aren't all going to be as banged-up as the Redskins' was yesterday, he should produce some good games. Slaton is a nice story and definitely has value, but Ahman Green actually looked very good for the second straight week, and is stealing touches. Also, never underestimate the wear-down factor for a rookie rusher by season's end. I like the trade, though it's not a no-brainer. (My rule of thumb: try to get the best player in any fantasy football trade.) And if I had to choose between Walter and Hester, right now it's Walter.
chris-ct
Buy low on Adrian? Been offered Peterson in a trade..I give up Addai and Jennings, get Holt and Peterson......I have Turner and MJD at RB(we start 3) and Fitzgerald, Ward, and S.Moss at WR(we start 3). Do it?
Christopher Harris (3:17 PM)
Hi, Chris. I absolutely think it's a good time to buy low on such a great talent. He fumbled twice yesterday and didn't do his fantasy owners any favors, but let's face it: he's still pretty good, and the big armageddon of his possible injuries hasn't come about. Would I do this particular deal? Well, if Addai is hurt badly, then yes. But I would hate to give up Jennings right now -- you could make the argument he's the best fantasy WR out there. So I think I'd hold off on this particular deal, though I don't hate the idea of getting AP while he's down.
YOOOUUUK!!!
With Romo ailing, would you start Steve Smith (Car)over TO next week?
Christopher Harris (3:18 PM)
Well, I haven't done my weekly rankings yet, and they won't come out until Wednesday. But Carolina has New Orleans next week, and that's a shaky secondary, for sure. So I anticipate that yes, I'll have Smith rated higher. Owens is still going to be a fantasy play, but again, I don't think he's got a lot of deep balls in him over the next month.
gt (ohio)
Here's a trade involving players you love. Lets face it alright B.Marshall hasn't been putting up #1 wr results of late. With that being said, should I trade him for M.Colston and C.Johnson?
Christopher Harris (3:19 PM)
Hi, GT. Yeah, Marshall hasn't produced that much, but yesterday he was really close to another touchdown before a bad fumble near the goal line. I'm not giving up on him yet, and while you're right, I do love Colston, I think Chad Johnson is verging on fantasy worthlessness, so I still think you might be getting the short end of this particular stick. The real question is: would I trade Marshall straight up for Colston? And while I like both players very much, I still think I'd rather have Marshall.
Grant (Seattle)
Braylon or J lewis tonight?
Christopher Harris (3:21 PM)
Ew. I don't like either option against the Giants, Grant. I think in a total vacuum, not knowing about your current situation, I might actually go with Edwards. He has the higher upside, I'd say, but I worry that the Browns might give up on the rush rather easily tonight. So I guess I'm talking myself into Edwards, but I'm not happy about it.
Randy (Chicago, IL)
Need a one week replacement for Philly DEF, would you go with Miami vs. BAL, San Diego @ BUF, Houston vs. DET, or Washington vs. CLE? And who would you drop: Branch, Crayton, Fred Taylor, or Fargas?
Christopher Harris (3:23 PM)
Hi, Randy. I think I actually like the Dolphins best of this option. I just taped my "D Up" segment for our Fantasy Focus Football show later this week, and the three defenses I recommended, in order, were the Jets, Dolphins and Texans (this is a segment aimed at trying to identify decent bye-week options). I like the Jets against a run-oriented Raiders team, because New York is stopping the run well. And Miami, too: they're susceptible to the pass, but I don't fear Baltimore's pass game. In theory, the Texans should be better on D, but they only have 7 sacks and 7 turnovers in 5 games....
Christopher Harris (3:23 PM)
Oh, and I guess I'd probably drop Branch, considering Matt Hasselbeck could be out for a while.
Farooq (Los Angeles)
12T KEEPER: I have Hasselbeck & JTO'Sully. Should I trade Berrian & Coles for McNabb? I start 2RB, 3WR, 1Flex... Also Got: Jennings, Wayne, Welker, Engram, Ronnie B, Forte, Graham, Hightower. Would I be giving too much? Thanks Chris!
Christopher Harris (3:25 PM)
Hi, Farooq. It looks like you're pretty stacked at WR. I think you're probably giving up too much, in a vacuum, for a quarterback (and an injury-prone one at that), but your league doesn't exist in a vacuum. If there's QB scarcity in your league, then I guess you don't have a choice but to overpay. McNabb is easily a top-10 option at his position, and you could argue that he's top-five. If you aren't going to start either of those guys, I'd rather get Drew Brees. But if you can't get Brees, McNabb isn't a bad option, just so you know you're overpaying.
Jeff(Westerly-RI)
Would you trade MJD for Westbrook in a vacuum?
Christopher Harris (3:26 PM)
Hi, Jeff. That would be a balls-to-the-wall move, but I like it. I don't trust MJD to be big the entire season; he's obviously been very inconsistent, and took advantage of an easy match-up Sunday. The Jags have a few more easy games after their bye, but eventually the schedule toughens up. And meantime, there's a chance Westbrook comes back as soon as Week 8, and if that's true, while you're assuming a bunch more risk, I think he's by far the superior player right now.
John, nyc
I went out on a limb last week and started Kurt Warner against a depleted Cowboys secondary over Peyton Manning against the brutal Ravens D. Yeah, I almost cried after Peyton remembered that he's one of the best QBs ever, and Kurt remembered he was old. So is Peyton back? Do you see elite numbers (say, top 3 QB) from him for the rest of the way? Is there any scenario where I should start Warner?
Christopher Harris (3:30 PM)
Hi, John. Well, I maybe aided you in that decision, so oops, sorry about that. That said, even though Warner's actual play was very spotty (he really got crunched by the Cowboys), he did turn in his fifth-straight multiple-TD game. I don't know what to make of Manning's resurgence yet. It turned out that the Ravens secondary was awful, especially the third-stringer running opposite Chris McAlister (though McAlister got toasted but good, too). I'm going to say that Peyton *is* a top-five QB the rest of the way, but I think I'm still going to have Warner rated a notch or two higher than him right now. Probably my Big Rotowski QB rankings (which come out tomorrow) will look like this: Brees, Warner, Cutler, Manning. But clearly, Manning has some real upward mobility there.
Christopher Harris (3:31 PM)
(Which is to say, if you've got Warner *and* Manning, yes, I can see you playing Warner sometimes, based on matchups.)
Manny Being Manny
Are more people going to watch playoff baseball than NYG and SFO?
Christopher Harris (3:32 PM)
Hm. If the Boston/Tampa game was in prime time, then I'd say probably yes. But I'm not sure the Phillies/Dodgers has captured the public's imagination. I think it'll be close, unless the Giants blow out the Browns (which could, let's face it, happen).
Chris-LA
With all the talent on the Saints offense, what do you think will happen to the rest of their season? They could easily be 4-1...possibly 5-0.
Christopher Harris (3:34 PM)
Hi, Chris. You're right, if Martin Gramatica hadn't been their kicker, they could have a couple more wins, easy. They've done a good job the past couple weeks against the run, and that's even without Sedrick Ellis, who's out with knee surgery. But I have to think that a passing team with a good offensive line is going to have a field day against that secondary, which doesn't even have rookie Tracy Porter anymore. Any of a number of clubs will score a *whole* bunch of points against New Orleans, whereupon the offense will have to be perfect. I also worry that the lack of a consistent interior running game will hurt, eventually. For the moment, though, they appear to at least be a top-10 team in the entire league, albeit one with weaknesses.
Ace (Pittsburgh, PA)
Being a big team player, Graham played fullback, so you have to give him credit. But, as a his fantasy owner, what do I do with him?? (I have Forte, SJax, Hightower)
Christopher Harris (3:35 PM)
Hi, Ace. Yeah, that was a serious bummer for Earnest Graham owners, though he did salvage his fantasy day with a short touchdown. The good news is that today Jon Gruden said leaving Graham at fullback for the entire season (to block for Warrick Dunn) isn't an option by any stretch, and if he has to, Gruden will convert one of his tight ends to fullback. Dunn has been and will continue to be a drain on Graham's fantasy value, which is tough, but I don't think you're going to have to worry about Graham as a blocker all season.
Christopher Harris (The REAL TMR)
I sat Reggie Wayne and started Brandon Marshal Larry Fitz and Michael Turner as the flex. Should I wait till after turner plays oakland and sell? I can't let wayne be on the bench anymore.
Christopher Harris (3:39 PM)
I hear you: Turner has been awesome every time the Falcons have played a shakier rush defense, and bottled up every time the team has played a good rush defense. The Bears did a number on him yesterday, and I actually don't like his schedule much going forward: Philly, the Raiders and the Saints (after Atlanta's bye) all have good run defenses. I think he's a sell-high, though you'd need to get a *stud* to justify it, because even in a low-points effort yesterday, Turner got 25 carries. That kind of production doesn't happen for all backs. As for Wayne, yeah, of course, he's a must-start every week, but as I just said, realize that he won't have such weak corners to run against every week. (He was matched up for much of the game on third-stringer Frank Walker.)
Rich (NJ)
Romo owner. What do you think of a deal where I trade Romo and Jacobs and get Eli and Westbrook?
Christopher Harris (3:40 PM)
Hi, Rich. I'd probably do that. I like Westbrook more than Jacobs even with his injuries; it's not like Jacobs couldn't get hurt tonight, right? And there's no question in my mind that Eli for 11 more games is worth more than Romo for 6 or 7. Of course, when push comes to shove at fantasy playoff time, that doesn't mean I won't have Romo ranked higher in, say, Week 15. But Eli would clearly be likelier to *get* you to your fantasy playoffs, given that he'll be playing.
Rocco (Orlando)
Berrian is on waivers. I would need to drop Welker or Mushin to pick him up. Who would you rather have the rest of the year - Berrian, Welker or Mushin? Thanks!
Christopher Harris (3:42 PM)
Hi, Rocco. I like Welker best of this group, and it's not close. After that, I probably would pick Berrian over Muhammad. That's not an utter no-brainer. But Berrian does look like the primary guy on the Vikings, especially with Sidney Rice continuing to miss time, while Muhammad's obviously going to be second fiddle to Steve Smith. Moose may outpoint Berrian a few weeks over the course of the year, but my guess is Berrian will have the overall advantage.
DGA
Looking ahead to next week...am I crazy to think about benching Forte against the Vikings in favor of Stewart (vs. NO) or Sammy Morris (vs. Denver)? Essentially, has Forte's performance so far elevated him to the level that he's a must start regardless of matchup?
Christopher Harris (3:45 PM)
Hi, DGA. I haven't done my weekly matchups, as I mentioned, but your larger question is a very interesting one. Is Forte a must-start no matter what? I kind of think he is. The Minny defense is going to force Kyle Orton to beat them, but this year, I think he's actually got a chance to do so. And Forte gets his 20 carries per game, come rain or shine. For your team in particular, watch out for Stewart's matchup: the Saints have stiffened considerably against the run, and seem likelier to be beaten via the air....
Bobby Engram (Seattle)
Should anyone start me without Hasselback at QB?
Christopher Harris (3:46 PM)
Good question. In a 16-team league, I actually did start Engram this weekend, and suffice it to say: that was not the best idea. When the Hawks go back to the drawing board, they're going to realize how dumb it is not to get Engram more involved, but yeah, I think you'd have to be in a *pretty* deep league to think about starting Bobby until we see him do something with either Charlie Frye or (more likely, if his calf is OK) Seneca Wallace.
Chris (Orlando)
Chad Johnson follow up. You said you think he's on the verge of a break out. He is worth keeping over Harrison. I only have room for one. Is Shaub worth picking off the waiver wire, Romo owner, more than Brad Johnson or Bulger.
Christopher Harris (3:48 PM)
Hi, Chris. Actually, that was probably my incoherent typing. (Not, um, the first time it's ever happened.) What I actually meant to say is that with Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm, I see Johnson as nearly worthless, and I wouldn't be starting him right now. I don't say he's not going to score at all the rest of the season or anything, but I just think the odds are, he's going to be quiet most weeks. I would rather have Harrison.
Kellen-TN
You say you need to get a stud back for Turner...would Westbrook qualify?
Christopher Harris (3:50 PM)
HI, Kellen. Well, I think that's the kind of deal you could probably get done with a nervous Westbrook owner. I think we can all probably agree that without his injury troubles, Westbrook is a more valuable fantasy player than Turner. So what enters the equation is how sure you are that Westbrook will come back and be himself. I think he will be. Philly has a bye this week. I think he'll get healthy. Does he play Week 8? Not sure. But thereafter? I think you'll get him soon. So while it would take stones, my tentative opinion is that doing it is the kind of move that wins championships.
Justin (Portland)
My defense has a bye this week. Who should I pick up - Seattle, Indy, Houston, or Miami?
Christopher Harris (3:51 PM)
Hi, Justin. Forgive the shortish answer, but scroll up in the transcript to see my thoughts on bye-week defenses in Week 7. Of the units you mention, I like Miami best, and Houston second-best.
Random hot chick (South Dakota)
I love you, will you marry me? Will forte hit his rookie wall soon? Will he at all? Who should I target in a trade?
Christopher Harris (3:53 PM)
Wow. I think I'm going to have to pass on the marriage proposal, though visits to Bristol are always encouraged. As for Forte -- it's a good point. As I mentioned earlier with Slaton, the rookie wall is a real phenomenon. I think there's a chance he does tail off, though to be honest, much of his fantasy goodness so far this year has been based around Chicago using him so much. It's not like his YPC is phenomenal or anything. He gets lots of carries, and lots of catches. Assuming that doesn't change, I guess I think his rookie wall won't be as disastrous as some others.
gt (ohio)
C.Johnson I meant to say earlier was Megatron. Does that change your answer for a B.Marshall for M.Colston and Megatron trade?
Christopher Harris (3:55 PM)
Oh, hit GT. Sorry, I misinterpreted. So now you're getting Colston and Calvin Johnson for Marshall. Phew. Those are some big-time talents. I do like Calvin a lot, but again, he's in a terrible QB situation. Marshall is the higher-rated player here, though Colston/Johnson are each likely to be in my top 15. Let me put it this way: if you are absolutely without a second WR right now, then this deal is a no-brainer. As I said earlier, I hate giving up the best player in a fantasy football deal, because this is a game of stars. But yeah, I mean, it's hard to ignore a fantasy receiving tandem of Colston and Megatron. They'll get you some points every week...
Tom (WI)
A Romo owner needs a QB, he has Jennings, would Campbell and Cotchery for Jennings be a fair trade?
Christopher Harris (3:57 PM)
Hi, Tom. Yeah, I think it's fair on its face, because the Romo owner is a bit desperate, but I'd rather be the one getting Jennings in that deal. As I've said seemingly ad nauseum (sorry about that) in this chat, getting the best player in a fantasy football deal is a good thing. I like Cotchery an awful lot, but Jennings is verging on the top five among receivers. Campbell, meantime, just doesn't throw the ball down the field, which really caps his upside. I think it's a fair deal if the other owners values Campbell highly enough to start, but as I say, I'd rather be the one getting Jennings.
Christopher Harris (3:57 PM)
All right, gang. I need to get out of here pretty much right at 4, so the rest of the Monday Night Football chat festivities can continue. So let's do one more:
Ryan (Denver)
Need a roster spot and have to drop either Addai, Rhodes, McGahee, or Matt Jones in PPR league. Which one would you let go?
Christopher Harris (3:59 PM)
Hi, Ryan. That's a tough one. Addai's injury isn't supposed to be devastating, but one never knows, and clearly if Rhodes is the starter, he'll be worth considering each week. I guess Matt Jones is the right answer, just because he's not always going to be the top receiving option in Jacksonville, but you know, I have an alternate suggestion for you. Could you possibly trade McGahee? I'm pretty down on him right now: he came out in the third quarter yesterday, and I haven't heard if he's hurt badly, but either way, it doesn't seem as though he's a top option or even has that job full time right now. Maybe package McGahee and Matt Jones and get a better receiver or back?
Christopher Harris (4:00 PM)
All right, everyone. Thanks very much for coming, and make sure to stay tuned, because there's lots more chatting coming up in advance of the Giants/Browns game tonight. Sorry not to be able to get to all of your questions, and I promise to do better the next time. I really appreciate all the interest, and I know without your attention, I wouldn't get to do this great job. So thank you very much. Talk with you next week.
Buzzmaster (4:00 PM)
Gary Horton is up next!
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:06 PM)
Two things are striking me right now: 1) I have never been more surprised on a weekly basis at the outcome of games. It just seems like we have no clue to what a lot of these teams are. Just when we thgink we have a handle on a team's identity we are totally surprised. 2) I am also surprised with how many of these games are going down to the wire and decided in the last minute. I have never seen a year where we just do not have a lot of elite teams. The ones that were supposed to be elite are struggling to stay in the race. If you like parity, this is you year.
Michael (Honolulu, Hawaii)
Since the Browns are my hometown team, I usually defend them, however, they are 1-3 entering tonight's game with the Giants, why is the coaching staff staying with Anderson? Why not start Quinn? I mean, he could not do any worse than Anderson has...right?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:09 PM)
Well the most popular guy in town is always the backup QB. I have watched Anderson a lot on film and he has struggled this year, and he does not look very calm in the pocket, but I think it is very difficult to put a QB into this situation who has no game experience, and especially in front of this Gaints D on MNF. Having said that I think we may seen Quinn some time tonight if Aderson struggles early and the game gets ugly. But while Quinn may become a very good QB, you can see how hard it is for young guys like Joe Flacco and JaMArcus Russell...although we also have Matt Ryan who is playing very well.
Steve (Syracuse)
Are the Titans still the favorite in the south? Or should they be worried about Indy's ressurgence? How do you see the Titan D matching up with them?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:11 PM)
I think the AFC South is an excellent division. I think Indy, Ten, and Jacksonville are all viable playoff teams. I think the Colts looked like the Colts for the first time yesterday. They had great tming on offense and their D flew around and made playoff. But I do not think they are out of the woods yet, as they will have to face some physical teams. And while the Titans are not the most talented team in the league they have a clear recipe for success which is run the football, make plays on D and do not ask your QB to win games. It is simple, but sound, and I think because of their style they will be in the race til the end and they will not have losing streaks like some teams.
Alex (New York)
Any way Winslow plays tonight?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:13 PM)
I do not think so. The shame of it is, with Stallworth is back tonight, it could have been the first time all season they would have been able to spread the field with their offensive weapons. They need a huge dose of Jamal Lewis tonight to keep the ball out of Eli Manning's hands.
Grant (Seattle)
Do you see Gonzalez or Roy Williams going anywhere before the deadline?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:15 PM)
There are a lot of rumors about Gonzalez, and some think he could end up in NY and I do think the Chiefs are trying to accomodate his wish of playing for a contender.
Brodie (Dallas)
What do the Cowboys do now? Are there any QBs that they could trade for?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:18 PM)
Getting a guy that does not know your sytem is not the answer. I think they will be okay with Brad Johnson if they can protect him. But if he gets hit as much as romo did yesterday it will be a real problem. We will see Marion Barber finally carry the load 25 times a game which is a good recipe for success.
Larry Johnson (KC)
Am I getting moved before the deadline? My team stinks
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:19 PM)
No I think you are stuck Larry.
Marc (Malden, MA)
I think yesterday's loss can be a wakeup call for the Redskins, they now realize they need to be great every week. Am I being way too hopeful?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:21 PM)
I am really surprised at how poorly they played yesterday, very sloppy. One of the positives things coming into the game was how sound they had been, but that was not the case yesterday. I do not think they have won enough to be cocky, but the mistakes they made yesterday can be coreected, like fumbling etc. But that is such a tough division that you do not have the luxury of having a lot of peaks and valleys.
Alex (San Diego)
What are your thoughts on the 49ers? Are they becoming a legit football team like some analysts say? They have been playing well against some good teams
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:24 PM)
I think they are respectable now and on any given week they can play with anyone. And I like their aggressive defense, especially MLB Patrick Willis. But I just do not trust them on offense. Although they seem to be trying to get the ball to Frank Gore and be balanced, they are still a group with minumum pass prtoection schemes with Mike Martz and JT O'Sullivan is taking a ton of hits...which is the price you pay as a QB under Martz. They are in a winable division, so I guess anything can happen. Certainly they are no longer an embarrassment
Jon (Mad-town)
Is Kyle Orton a quality NFL QB? He's been erratic, but at times looks sensational.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:27 PM)
Well yesterday really confused me because he looked like he was making great progress and the offense he was running was not dummied down...but he did not play well yesterday and maybe that is what we will see for the rest of the year, some roller coaster games. I think orton has the physical tools to be a decent QB. He has good accuracy and touch on his passes and he seems to play with some confidence.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:28 PM)
I am really enjoying watching the Giants this year. For a defending Super Bowl champ, it seems like we just do not talk about them a lot and at this point they look almost unbeatable in every area and having said that the Browns will probably upset them tonight...just seems to be the way it goes this year. But the Giants are fun to watch because they seem capable of winning any style of game, which bodes well for them this season.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:08 PM)
Let's talk some MNF- WOW what a weekend !
Garrett (Fargo)
Any thoughts on the Lions/Viks game? The lions got jobbed by that late PI call.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:09 PM)
Garrett, They should have won that game but tell the Chargers about some bad calls ! It's really unfortunate but it happens.
DGA
Where do you think Albert Haynesworth ends up next year? He's probably the best defender in the NFL right now, and is absolutely unblockable when he wants to be. Do you agree that the Titans should break the bank to make sure he stays in Nashville?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:10 PM)
DGA, Yes they should break the bank but I'm not sure they'll do it. They tend to be somewhat conservative when it comes to overpaying players. There is no question that they are a differnent defense whrn he is in there.
Rob (Wrigleyville)
Plax v. Jacobs tonight....who gets more points? Thanks!!
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:12 PM)
Rob, I would have to take Jacobs in that situation but both do well.
Jackson (grayslake IL)
Without Romo the Cowboys are actually better off. We need to get Barber more carries anyway.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:14 PM)
Jackson, Make no question that the BOYS are better with Romo and yes they will likely get the ball to Barber more (especially that jones is injured). Look for defenses to stack the LOS and make Johnson beat them.
Marc (NY)
Can you quickly explain why that was not a running into/roughing the kicker at the end of the Dallas Arizona game?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:15 PM)
Marc, If a player get a piece of the ball at all there can be no roughing the kicker. He can drill him (if he hits the ball first) and it's not roughing or running into the kicker.
Spivey (Atl)
What are your thoughts on the Falcons, M. Ryan and HC Mike Smith ?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:18 PM)
Spivey, I like what the Falcons are doing. Hardnosed ground attack , not giving Ryan too much in his rookie season and solid defense for the most part. Both Ryan and Smith are exceeding expectations in 2008.
SprungOnSports (Long Island)
What do the Browns have to do tonight to pull off the big upset?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:21 PM)
SprungOn sports, They have ti start with stopping the run and be able to establish a ground attack. They are clearly over matched but the Cleveland fans are great and can make a difference if they are close in the second half. Also they need to make something happen in the kicking game . They have talent and can score points or at least work with a short field for D.A. to work with.
Brad (Cleveland)
I thought this was a MNF chat! Why can't Derek Anderson get an illness and stay in the hospital, so Quinn and Winslow can be on the field? Why do the football gods hate Cleveland?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:24 PM)
Brad, Now don't you know there are no football GODS. Yes you have had some bad luck this year but it's not just D.A. that's playing poorly. Your off season acqusitions haven't panned out and that's as glasring a problem as any.
DGA
Before the season, I thought Mike Ditka had lost his mind when he picked Titans over the Giants in the Super Bowl (and I'm a Titans fan). Now, he's looking like a genius. Are these the teams to beat in there respective conferences?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:26 PM)
DGA, Right now you would have to say they are but As much as I like what the Titans are doing there doesn't seem to be enough fire power offensively to get to the big dance. As for the G-men , well until some one knocks them off the mountain they are the team to beat (don't see them standing when the smoke clears either)
Roy Williams (Detroit, MI)
Any chance the Cowboys or Titans make a deal for me?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:30 PM)
Roy, Both clubs would be smart to at least take a look at that possibility. you could help both teams but the LIONS can't ask too much for you.
Tim (Hickory, NC)
Are the Jaguars better than the Broncos, or did the loss of their #2 and #3 WR, #1 RB, and #1 TE make the offense look more ordinary than it really is?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:32 PM)
Tim, I don't see the Jags having more talent but Shanahan may have got out coached in this one. Plus with all those turnovers it's hard to judge but I would have picked the Broncos before the game.
Justin (PA)
Do you think the Eagles will continue to play like they did of the fourth quater of yesterdays game for now on?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:34 PM)
Justin, The Eagles were opportunistic last weekend but they need to do that to have a chance without Westbrook in the line up
Pete (Texas)
What match up tonight intrigues you the most?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:36 PM)
Pete, Watch Joe Thomas and Kiwanuka go at it. Great match up to watch.
John (Cleveland)
Does Brady Quinn give the Browns a better chance of winning now?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:38 PM)
John, I would say if the Browns loose tonight they need to make the switch and look towards next season. It maybe too big a hole to dig out off ,but to answer your question NO. D.A. is the Browns best shot right now. WOW they gave him a ton of money to give up on him so quickly.
Younger (Los Angeles, CA)
Hey Ken, got a MNF question for you. Can you explain why every MNF game this year has been so offense heavy? Out of the 6 MNF games played there hasn't been 1 game under 43 points.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:41 PM)
Younger, I'm not sure why that has happened but doesn't believe there is any conspiracy involved. It does make it interesting.
Younger (Los Angeles, CA)
Also can you please give your prediction for tonight's game?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:43 PM)
Younger, I believe the Browns are in a "Desperate " Mode and this will be a good contest. This going to be any ones game down the stretch but somehow the G-men win by more than a field goal.
Doug (Seattle)
Do you think the poor performance of the Seahawks secondary this season will cause the front office to change their mind about Mora being HC next year? He is the secondary coach after all.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:46 PM)
Doug, If the Seahawks don't play well I'm sure there will be second thoughts on Mora but they may make a change in the front office rather than get rid of Mora. They lack personnel.
NYG FAN
Will tonights game be a blow out ? or is worth watching
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:48 PM)
NYG, Wath this game it's should be a good match up. Cleveland has under achieved and could click at anytime.
Mike (Toledo)
I am a huge Browns fan and so of course this season has been a disappointment for me. In your opinion, would you say that the Browns are underachieving or are they a victim of bad injuries at the worst time. Lastly, can you give me any word on how Sean Jones and Joe J. are doing and if they are coming back soon?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:51 PM)
Mike, All of the above but they also made some poor off season decisions that haven't panned out. The GM rolled the dice and it hasn't worked out well for the Browns fans. Not sure of the status of Sean or Joe.
Ashton(Houston,TX)
any thoughts on how jamal lewis will do in tonights game and for the rest of the season?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:55 PM)
Ashton, Lewis needs to have a solid game tonight for Cleveland to have a chance. The line doesn't appear t be playing very well this year after having an excellent season in 2007. Offensive line coach Steve Marshall is an excellent coach (I know first hand) but the results haven't been good thus far.
Jason (Denver)
Will there be peace between Al Davis and coach Cable? Or can the Comissioner step in and say something to end this madness?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:57 PM)
Jason, I feel for RAIDER NATION, but I don't see it happening.
John (NY)
Ken ..predictions on tonights stats for eli and J lewis?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:58 PM)
Eli will throw for two scores , no picks (250 yards) Lewis get his touches but less than 80 yards
Steve (Milwaukee)
Who is the best team in the NFC North if the Packers get healthy on defense?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (6:00 PM)
Steve , That's a big if , but IF the Packers get healthy they maybe the best of the Bunch but this is going to be a tight division.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (6:01 PM)
Fella's it's been great ,talk to next week. Ken
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:01 PM)
Good evening, all -- it's the defending champs (and playing very much like it!) versus a disappointing Browns team that really needs to right the ship, but quick. They face a very stern test against a Giants team playing very aggressively on both sides of the ball. I am ready to talk MNF, yesterday's crazy games, and whatever else is on your mind!
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:01 PM)
Aaron (San Diego)
Will Braylon Edwards find the end zone tonight?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:02 PM)
If he can find the ball, quite possibly -- ridiculous talent, but those drops have to be infuriating.
Help in Memphis
Which kicker will start for NY tonight? I am down by one point and need to know...
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:02 PM)
BTW, last I heard is that Carney will be kicking for the G-Men tonight.
Steven (NJ)
Will the Gmen kick butt or will this game be a close one?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:03 PM)
Heh - after yesterday 's wackiness, I'm not inclined to give any team a walk in the park. I think the Browns will view this as a statement game and give the Giants a tough one.
Francisco NaRvaez (Miami)
Do you see Derek Anderson returning to his 07 form?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:04 PM)
Receiver health has been an issue, as has been that offensive line. Im really surprised as how the line has underperformed to date. LOVE Joe Thomas. Not sure what's going on.
David (Boston)
Hey Doug, who do you like the rest of the year: Dwayne Bowe or Eddie Royal?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:04 PM)
Royal. Better situation.
Jim Zorn (Washington, DC)
Am I asking to much to get Tony Gonzo, Torry Holt, and Thomas Jones for Clinton Portis?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:05 PM)
Jim, as well as you've done this year, I think even you would be hard-pressed to pull THAT off. Besides, Dr. Do'Itch Big is the mainstay of your offense right now.
Walter
Are the pats going to look at qb help at the trade deadline??
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:06 PM)
My sense is that they like Cassel -- at least that's what I've heard from that notoriosly talkative New England front office -- and they'll go with him. Running back and cornerback are just as big on the problem scale right now.
Jon E
Who should I start in fantasy, Burress or Edwards? Isnt Edwards due to have a big game?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:07 PM)
Plax. No question. Go with the security blanket.
Chris (NY)
Doug, give us a score prediction for tonight's game. After all the trash Cleveland's Defense has talked, do you see the Giants Offense sending a huge message?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:08 PM)
I know this -- that NYG offensive line is spectacular right now, and we all know how good their defensive line is. I have a feeling it will be close, but the Giants are simply too physical. Say, G-Men 27, Brownies 17.
Jerry Reese ( East Rutherford, NJ):
With Kevin Boss producing such low numbers this season should I be willing to spend a 5th round draft pick for Tony Gonzalez this year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:09 PM)
Jerry, if you can get Gonzo for a fifth, you should run, not walk, to call Carl Peterson and get that thing done.
jimmy (dc)
How much does Romo's injury effect the likes of Witten, Crayton, Barber, TO and Felix. With Johnson at the helm, I think Witten's value increases. Your thoughts?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:10 PM)
Witten, Barber, Felix Jones increase. Any hot routes. Brad Johnson is a tested veteran, but he's about as mobile as a slab of granite.
brian (gainesville, fl)
Do you know who the kicker for Giants is tonight?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:10 PM)
Last I heard is Carney.
Tony (Brooklyn, NY)
Doug, how do we reconcile the numbers telling us that the Giants had a less than 1% chance of winning the Super Bowl going into the Tampa game, to where they are now? Is this an unprecedented turnaround, statistically? Thanks!
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:12 PM)
Tony, it's a very good question. I don't think we've been shy at FO in admitting that the Giants have confounded our numbers. They're playing at an alarmingly high quality, and it's a good case when we say that you have to match the scouting eye with the stats. Unprecedented turnaround? Perhaps.
Tony (Brooklyn, NY)
How much should the Giants give up for Asomugha if he's attainable? Can they afford him cap-wise? What would be his impact replacing Webster relative to Gonzalez replacing Boss? Thanks!
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:13 PM)
I think the Raiders will franchise him again if they can't get a deal done, but I think Nnamdi is the best CB in football. His impact would be huge anywhere because he's taking part of the field away and he's as close as there is to a shutdown corner in the NFL right now.
Jdawg (C-town)
What are your thoughts on Phil Savage? Hes drafted Braylon, J-Thomas, Cribbs all Pro Bowlers and every FA that comes to town he signs. But the results on the field are not reflecting well on him, is it him or the coaching?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:14 PM)
Injuries, partly. He has a big job when he took it. Remember that it took two tries to get the O-line right, and it may be the same with the defensive line. Not entirely sure about the coaching, but my sense is that Savage is not the problem here.
Jelmer (St. Cloud MN)
Who is the biggest disappointment this season?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:15 PM)
The 1-4 Seahawks? Thats a shocker to me...
Troy(MN)
Best waiver wire QB for week 7-- BJohnson, Orton, Collins?Next 4 weeks?(Til'Romo's wittle pinkie winkie heals)
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:16 PM)
See...I really want to say Orton...argh. I'd say Orton versus Collins and let the schedule be your guide.
Rob (Wrigleyville)
Not a MNF question but still.....What is up with McGahee? Is he hurt? Did they pull him because they were getting spanked? I can't find anything on him. Thanks!!
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:18 PM)
There was supposedly an injury ( I know no more than that about it) and the score did dictate the personnel. Probably 50/50.
Zach NY
Is Carson Palmer droppable? Did he have his elbow examined?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:18 PM)
He's out against Pittsburgh, according to what I heard.
Dave (San Francisco, Ca)
What do you think Brandon Jacobs will do tonight? I'm down by 16 have have Jacobs starting, do I have a chance?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:19 PM)
Cleveland's run defense is better than their pass defense, but Jacobs is a real load to bring down. If he gets past the front four, anything's possible.
Bryan (DC)
What is with the Rams lack of using Brian Leonard? At Rutgers he ran the ball but also had the ability to catch out of the backfield. But it seems the Rams can never get him out there. What is the deal??
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:21 PM)
Leonard was placed on IR (shoulder)
Walter
Do u like Jeff Garcia as the bucs qb
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:22 PM)
Absolutely -- I've been a big Garcia fan for a long time. I like mobile quarterbacks with good sense on reads and he fits the bill. He's better than Griese in that situation, I believe.
Steve (Dallas)
Do I take solace in the fact that Randy Moss was targeted 10 times, or do I panic that he doesn't have an NFL QB throwing the ball to him?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:23 PM)
I thin that you and Randy are going to have to reconcile yourselves to the fact that 60-yard go routes are now out of the question.
Adam (Akron Ohio)
Will we see Brady tonite? His style could help the defence out a little by keeping them off the field.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:24 PM)
IMO, if Quinn is in there, they relly want to see what he can do under pressure. The Giants are not the team I'd use to trot out a different quarterback.
Justin (Bossier)
With the surprises in the NFC, especially the South, do you think the Saints will make the playoffs?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:25 PM)
Yes, I do (had them going to the SB in FO's preseason predix) but losing Tracy Porter is a problem unless Jason David can stop being the Jason David he was last year. They really need Sedrick, too. Defense is always the issue. Brees is my NFL MVP at this point.
Ric (Jersey)
Fantasy Trade Question. I have a player in my league who badly needs a new QB (he has Palmer and Hasselback) I told I would give him Tomlinson, Orton & Holmes for Barber and White. Do you think this is a good trade or should I try and get something better. He has great wr depth (Randy moss, evans, white, bowe, holt) and also has clinton portis and edge. Should I ask for Portis instead? Maybe put muhammad or breaston instead of Holmes?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:26 PM)
Barber's probably a good play with Romo out, though Portis may get more carries. If you could swing Portis/White, that'd be good. Also on Hasselbeck -- Mike Holmgren said today in his PC that Hass probably won't play against Tampa Bay. Back soreness affecting the knee problwm.
Andy (NYC)
How likely is it that the Bills trade for Tony Gonz?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:27 PM)
I think they're the best fit.
Steven (NJ)
Do you think Justin Tuck is becoming one of the better defensive players in the league?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:28 PM)
I think he's already there/. There isn't a defensive player in the NFL who can be so disruptive inside and outside. He's amazing.
Greensboro, NC
Which kicker for the Giants is starting tonight? Cause I can still win my Fantasy Game?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:29 PM)
Last I heard, it's Carney
Michael (chapel hill)
Doug - If you were playing in a TD-Only Fantasy league and just lost Romo for the next three games, who would you prefer to fill that void: Favre, Schaub, Orton or Matt Ryan.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:29 PM)
Probably Favre, though Ryan has really, really impressed me and I just wanted the chance to say that.
JP (Bean Town, MA)
Quinn needs to start if Anderson fails to do anything tonight. While Anderson had a nice '07, that was one season. We have seen plenty of guys ho have break out years, and you never here of them again. They basically invented 2 first round picks on Quinn, and they need to get him in there, to get a better evaluation of who they have. If they lose tonight, they are 1-4, and still have a pretty rough schedule moving forward. A loss tonight, at least in my opinion, would really end Cleveland's season early. Either way, Quinn is the starter in 09, why not get him some action in still somewhat meaningfull games??
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:31 PM)
Well, as I said before, it would be a great test if they do put Quinn in there. This Giants' pass rush has lost nothing despite Strahan and Umenyiora out of the picture.
Steven (NJ)
Which player would you want T.O,Plaxico, or Ocho Cinco? they all cause problems.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:32 PM)
Plaxico. Ocho has flown too close to the sun and I don't know if Johnson will have enough time to get the ball to TO on those routes.
Tony (Brooklyn, NY)
Speaking of stats vs. scouting, how does the Giants o-line do what they do w/ only one outstanding player (Snee) and so-so blocking from the TE? Is it the FB? Or is it just that none of them are worse than middling and they've been working together for years?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:34 PM)
Line continuity is HUGE, Tony. More than talent. If you have five guys who are better than average and are used to working together, you're in better shape than with a line of all-stars that was hastily assembled. The Giants' line is in great sync - -that was obvious in the long Jacobs run against Seattle when the slide went right and the guards went left. That was textbook.
Adam (Akron, Ohio)
What are the chances the Browns experience deja-vu with pulling DA in the first quarter and trading him tomorrow before the deadline?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:35 PM)
Adam, whatever you may think of DA, he's in a different stratosphere than Frye. Not a knock on Frye per se, but vertain guys just get the timing of the NFL game, and others don't.
Chris (TX)
Is there any posible justification for owning Maroney right now? I know I'm probably anchoring, but I just think he's too talented to stay stuck behind Morris and Faulk once he's healthy.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:36 PM)
My opinion would be no. I don't see enough power from him, he runs too upright which always bugs me from an injury perspective, and there isn't enough shake-and-bake from a non-power guy, The NE back that has impressed me most has been Faulk -- he seems to make the play more often when needed.
Chris (Phoenix)
Did you see Fitzgerald yesterday? that guy is sick! is he the best WR in football?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:37 PM)
Yes and yes.
Ed, VA
HELP! I need to score 28 points tonight. I'm starting Burress, but can't decide between Toomer and Edwards.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:38 PM)
With that margin, I'd say take a flyer on Edwards and cross your fingers.
Thomas (Bay Area, CA)
Kurt Warner has a bye next week. Who should I start next week? Brad Johnson or Matt Schaub?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:39 PM)
Schaub against Detroit? Boo-Yah!
adam (ky)
Second that question...Start Braylon Edwards or Amani Toomer tonight?
Brady Quinn (Cleveland Ohio)
I want to play tonite. What do I have to do to replace the statistially worst QB in the NFL?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:40 PM)
Not sure exactly, but keep the chinstrap buckled up.
JP (Bean Town, MA)
Sorry Chris and Doug, but you're crazy if you think Fitz is the best WR in fotoball. Great? Yes. But I think you have to put guys like Andre, and Wayne ahead of him. Just my opinion though.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:40 PM)
I'd have to go with Fitz overall. Speed, routes, moves, vertical (!!!) -- he's got the most of the most.
Reed (PHILLY)
I have Portis, Willie Parker, Deangelo Williams(17th Round Pick Have to keep him as I get him in 14th Round next Year) and Pittman. Do you Consider dropping Pittman to Pick up Betts? Nno One is speaking of the best RB in the League's Handcuff. This is assuming Betts is not out for a long period of time. By The Way, I can Start 3 RB's
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:41 PM)
I don't know enough about Betts' injury situation to say. Pittman is a pretty safe bet, though.
Steven (Tallahassee Florida)
I know its a long shot, but what are the chances of Brandon Jacobs scoring less than 6 points? I've already chalked this week up as a loss, but a guy can dream can't he?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:42 PM)
Steven, you need to have a heart-to-heart with Shaun Rogers. If Jacobs gets in the open field, it's bad for any defense.
Eli Manning (New York)
I'm down 22 points tonight and i have myself playing. I think i need to throw for 3 tds and 300 yrds, is that possible????
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:42 PM)
Yes, but shouldn't you be warming up right now?
Mo (Miami)
Does Desean Jackson still have value with Kevin Curtis returning?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:43 PM)
Sure. More or less depending on Westbrook (which is the crux of the biscuit as they say -- where BW goes, so goes that offense)
Jack (Philly)
Who will have a bigger impact when they come back off injury? Curtis or Colston?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:44 PM)
Colston. Brees has been holding that offense together with his own excellence, but Colston has more receptions in his first two seasons than anyone in NFL history. Talk about your go-to guys...
Will (Seattle)
I just got offered Randy Moss for Bernard Berrian, a pick that people laughed at when I chose him. Do I make this trade?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:45 PM)
You know, htats a tough one. I want to see if Moss will start to quit on the shorter routes now that the offense isn't tailored to suit him. I'd probably make the deal, but not with total confidence.
Paul (Denver)
Have you ever witnessed a game like the Bears/Falcons yesterday? Also, do you think the clock started a tad late during the squib kick?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:46 PM)
Not sure on the clock, but that was the craziest game I've seen since Dennis Green claimed that the Bears "are who we thought they were!"
John (Cincinnati)
Any chance Martin Rucker gets playing time if K2 doesn't play tonight? Would you take a chance and start him over Heiden?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:47 PM)
Cleveland media saying that Rucker still limited by injury was the last report I read.
Michael (Houston)
Who is the kicker for NY tonight?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:47 PM)
Carney, I believe.
Jack (San Francisco)
2-4 after winning just my second game this week. I'm considering trading LDT for a solid RB and WR to get a little depth and let someone else (with a better record) roll with the LDT punches. Do you like Thomas Jones and Berrian for LDT? (my thinking: Jets look recommitted to Jones and he has a supersoft schedule; Berrian looks like legit #1 with Frerote).
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:48 PM)
I'd keep LT. I think he'll regain his ability to cut or find a way around it. Never been a big Jones fan.
Karen (Help!!)
Doug..what are my chances tonight? I need 4 tds comb. from eli and plax and need J Lewis to et shut out?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:49 PM)
As Jerry Jones would say, you're walking a high wire without a net, but anythng's possible.
John Carney (NY)
Has a Kicker ever been mentioned as much as me in this Q&A? This might propell my career to an entire new level.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:49 PM)
John, you've become ubiquitous.
Tony (Brooklyn, NY)
How much of an ogre was Emmitt Smith for taking the balls so many times w/o falling apart? Is it any less impressive in terms early 90s competition?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:51 PM)
I was talking to someone about emmitt yesterday -- I thought he was more reliant on his like than someone like B. Sanders, but far less than someone like Shaun Aleander. A great back, but I'd put Payton and Sanders above him.
John (NB Canada)
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians. GO RAYS!!! Don't care who's kicking for Giants tonight, it's a kicker and I played one yesterday but was wondering what you'd do with this. Drafted Warner to back up Romo in my league. Was looking real good until the most famous pinkie in Fantasy story. Now Warner is on a bye so gotta pick up another QB. I've decided one week stop gap is Schaub. However to pick up a third QB I gotta drop someone, and my choices are Warner (my new starter) Romo (not likely) or one of the following. Thomas Jones, Chris JOhnson, or Calvin Johnson or Marvin Harrison. Those are my four pine riders so far this year. Thanks man and great chat
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:52 PM)
I really like Chris Johnson. Probably Calvin to drop.
Sally (LA)
Hello from windy California! Will Lee Evans ever not get double teamed?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:53 PM)
Perhaps if they play Seattle, who appear to run a single high safety no matter what.
Derek Anderson (In a corner)
How scared should I be of the Dog Pound beating me up tonight??
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:53 PM)
Not much, but beware of falling plastic bottles.
Nic (San Jose)
Fantasy trade question here: Bress, Ryan Grant, Cotchery For Schuab, Barber, Roddy White/ Colston, do I make the deal?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:53 PM)
Yes and take Colston
mike
What's your prediction for tonight's game? how does 34-17 Giants sound?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:54 PM)
I would say 27-17 G-Men.
cardrifter
will the seahawks ever get on track
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:55 PM)
Not this year. They need to get bigger n the D-line and in the secondary. I think there's a fundamental disconnect in that front office between the size of their defense and the power sets the NFL is going toward.
Grant (Seattle)
Please reaffirm my decision to trade Reggie Bush for Brandon Marshall after week 3! Time will show it to be a good trade right?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:55 PM)
Yes, though I have a higher opinion of Bush than most.
Braylon Edwards (Cleveland)
Who's got it worse...me, or my buddy Randy Moss?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:56 PM)
Your buddy Moss. All you need to do is to hold on to the ball!
Mike (Chicago)
5 end of game victories yesterday. Has there ever been a crazier week in the NFL?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:57 PM)
Not that I have seen, Mike. I watched the CHI-ATL game and that was just mesmerizing. The DVR will be worn out in the Farrar household this week!
Randy (Baltimore)
What is Matt Ryan's value in a keeper league?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:57 PM)
Love him. Really impressed with what he's doing already.
Indiana Jones (A Secret Location)
I have the hidden treasure to give one Brown player the power to win tonight. Who should I give it too?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:57 PM)
Jamal Lewis.
P. Savage (Berea, OH)
If the season gets to the point where the Browns switch QBs then wouldn't it make sense to dump Romeo Crennel at the same time? He's gone with a bad season anyway and there's no reason to subject Quinn to Romeo's coin flipping. That's a move I should make, right?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:58 PM)
I think that you and Romeo need to have along talk at the end of the season. We're not sure about the overall direction here on the outside, Phil.
TC (New York City)
Will Burress have a big game tonight after serving the suspension?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (6:58 PM)
I think so.
JP (Bean Town, MA)
Right now, we have tons of rookies realy doing well: Matty Ice, Chris Johnson, Forte, DeSeasn, etc. etc. Who is your ROY right now? Personalyl, I would go with Ryan...
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (7:00 PM)
I had Chris Johnson until yesterday. Matt Ryan will be duking it out with him. Forte has workload concerns. DeSean maybe, though it's a tough class as you said.
Jason (Glendale, AZ)
Would you be willing to sell "high" on Jones-Drew if Romo was your only QB and someone offered Schaub and Bobby Engram for MJD?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (7:01 PM)
Jason, I'm not sure how Hasselbeck's doing. He's probably out the TB game and who knows about more. This obviously affects Engram. I'd avoid Seattle right now.
Randy Moss (Boston)
Stop being so down on me, Doug! Do you have anything positive to say about me? I'm not chopped liver.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (7:01 PM)
No, but you're kind of a diva.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (7:01 PM)
Time for me to ease out of here and hand it over to Doug Kretz of Scouts, Inc. Thanks for your great questions, and be sure to check out FootballOutsiders.com, as well as our work on ESPN.com!
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (7:01 PM)
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:02 PM)
Thanks Doug.. OK, lets talk about this game, tonight. Runaway win for NYG? or a close game? Some great games, yesterday, weren't there...
Steven (NJ)
Which nfl coach is on the biggest hot seat?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:05 PM)
Without a doubt, Rod Marinelli.. There will be a new Prez/GM after the season and he will likely want his "own guy" in place to coach that team.. After Rod, I'd go with Marvin Lewis and Brad Childress. A dark horse could be Mora, in Seattle as the GM could end up in hot water, after the season and Mora was hired by Ruskell. If Holmgren convinces the owner that there is not much in the cupboard and it's Ruskell's fault there could be some changes up there, as well.
Lionel (Toledo, OH)
Can you explain to me how Romeo Crennel still has a job this season? Shouldn't any movement to Quinn as the QB also accompany separation from the head coach as well?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:07 PM)
Lionel.. I like Romeo.. It's not his fault that some of the off season trades haven't worked out and they have been hit by some injuries. I like the QB, to a point, but thought he had a career year last year and the struggles he is seeing this year are not that much of a surprise. Not sure if Quinn is ready, yet. Some scouts I talked to thought he wasn't a first round pick, some even thought he should have been a second day guy.
Mike(Utica,NY)
Would you rank Barry Sanders over Emmitt Smith like Doug did. Barry would either get you 0 yards or a 50 yard run. Emmitt was more consistant than Sanders.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:08 PM)
Emmitt had a much better line in front of him. Barry coud turn a five yard loss into a 60 yard TD run. I like Barry better.
GM (Washington)
Is Braylon Edwards actually a good football player or did he just trick us all last year?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:09 PM)
Braylon is a good FB player. He made Anderson into a good QB, last year. This year, he is dropping some passes but I think he'll recover.
Rob (Chicago)
NFC North is up for grabs, who do you think will finish on top?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:10 PM)
Rob, I like Chicago.. Best QB in the division and maybe the best D.. (Minnesota may be in the mix).
SPARTY (Denver)
Will Shanahan ever return to the SuperBowl with the Broncos with Jay Cutler as his QB?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:12 PM)
I'll put it this way.. Cutler will make it to the SB, in Denver. Will Shanny be the head coach? Not so sure. He has made some ??? decisions in free agency and the Broncos need new blood, both on the sidelines and on the field, defensively.
Stu (Green Bay)
Say it ain't so, Doug! Kyle Orton a better QB than Aaron Rodgers?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:13 PM)
It's close, but I think Kyle is just what the Bears need and is actually playing better than Aaron is, right now.
Jordan (Scottsdale, AZ)
Will the Cardinals run the table at home?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:14 PM)
No.. NYG and MIN, yet, at home? They will be lucky to win one of those games, much less both of them.
Greg (Savannah, GA)
With the NFc South emerging as one of the best conferences in the NFl, who do you think will come out on top?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:16 PM)
I know you want me to say Atlanta.. And I love the things Dimitroff did in the off season and the way Smitty is coaching, but they are still a year, or two away. I like Tampa Bay, at this point. Their defense is playing lights out.
Lionel (Toledo, OH)
You like Romeo... or you like Romeo as a head coach?? Injuries and personnel are one thing. Botching every two minute drill/timeout and kicking FGs when they need TDs is something entirely different. I just don't think Romeo is cut out to be a head coach. It's year 4, not year 1.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:17 PM)
Don't have time to go through each and every decision you don't like, but yes I like him as a head coach. Remember we don't all know everything that goes into all those decisions.. The players respond to him and play hard for him. That's huge for a head coach.
Mike(Utica,NY)
Is Matt Ryan the closest QB similar to Peyton Manning when coming into the league?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:18 PM)
He reminds me more of Brady.. No one has come into the league and known the playbook like Manning did in his first year. He is a freak, mentally..
Joe (Pittsburgh)
Hello Doug, Love your work. What do you think the Steelers record will end up after they get through with the hardest schedule in NFL history to go through? I am saying 11-5. Am I dreaming?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:20 PM)
Joe.. Thanks.. I can see 11 wins. Their defense plays lights out and Big Ben finds ways to win. The players play hard for the head coach.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I know those in the media love to hype up and discuss controversial statements by athletes. Do you really believe any player on the Giants is either distracted or bothered by Plax's comments regarding the suspension? (i mean to the point of affecting play)
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:22 PM)
The players don't pay much attention to all of that stuff.. They are focused on the game and their own responsibilities.
Skeeter (NC backwoods)
better night... J Lewis or Plax?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:22 PM)
Plax
Johnny (Fairbanks, Alaska)
Do you believe, even after all of St. Louis' struggles that they could come into Big D next week and possibly pulll out a win with all of the Cowboys' injuries
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:24 PM)
Working on that game, today. I can see St. Louis pulling off an upset. Dallas will have to limit their passing game with Johnson behind the QB and their cornerbacks are giving up too much, especially the underneath passes..
Steiny (NYC)
Do you think Favre finally has the Jets offense under control?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:24 PM)
I'd say he has about 80% of the O down, at this point.
Andy Columbus
why give anderson a huge contract when he really did ok last year and has done nothing this year, and you have quin on the bench? any thoughts
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:26 PM)
They kind of backed themselves into a corner, last year. They had to do right by Anderson after the season he had, yet they had a lot of money invested in Quinn. Now they are paying for it. I see Quinn starting soon, unless Anderson plays lights out tonight (unlikely)..
Chris (Austin)
Doug, Thanks for your time. I think it is time to trade Michael Turner, where do you think he will rank going forward among running backs? What type of value do you think I should take for him this week?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:28 PM)
Chris, I'm not a fantasy league guy, so I don't know those kind of values. What I CAN tell you is that Turner should continue to produce for Atlanta. This past game will put defenses on alert that Atlanta, and Ryan, can throw the ball and win games. This should take some of the attention off of Turner. Smitty (and Mike Mularkey) will still feed Turner the ball, first and pass second.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Jamal Lewis seems like more of a downhill runner that needs time to get going before he can get loose. Against the Giants front four is there any reason to think he can do much tonight??
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:31 PM)
I don't see a big game from Lewis for two reasons. Cleveland will be playing catch-up football (passing) and the G men do such a good job of getting fits up front and blitzing to make it difficult for a RB to get started.
Dave
the browns should play Brady Quinn
mike
giants win 44-10
kurt (chi, il)
am i the only one who thinks ronnie brown is overrated? offering him up for l. fitz...have portis, b.jacobs, r.bush as backs in a ppr league...thanks
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:34 PM)
I can see defenses figuring out how to stop the "Wildcat" offense and limiting Brown's effectiveness. It does present new things to worry about but from a run standpoing, gut it also limits the passing game.
Kyle
Soon as D.A. throws a INT the brady chants are going to start.
Dave
The Browns should trade D.A.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:35 PM)
Not sure how much they could get for him, at this point. Teams already know about his limitations (no scramble threat, ? ability to handle pressure).
Mike (NY)
Haven't heard much today about Tony G, just interested in the topic. What do you see going into tomorrow with this?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:36 PM)
I would not be surprised to see a last second trade. The Chiefs are holding out for the best offer.
Joe (Centeral Ohio)
browns win close in a gamming winning feild goal by awesome dawson like atlanta UPSET ALERT
Jason (Glendale, AZ)
Any more news on the McGahee injury from yesterday?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:38 PM)
Sounds like he was just banged up, not injured.
ross
michael turner is the best back in the league thisyear
Kyle
The browns should have traded Anderson at the end of last year while his 'stock' was still high enough to get a decent trade for him.
joe (Pittsburgh)
Doug, From what I hear locally Parker is 50-50 for Sunday. Do you think not having parker there will force the Steelers to throw more? Thanks
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:43 PM)
No, they will run Moore and Davenport, if Parker can't play. Cincy can't stop the run and it's always more difficult to pass when you are the visiting team.
Doug
What do you think the odds will be of Brady Quinn getting in before the end of the Giants Game?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:44 PM)
I think he'll play. The G men will put a ton of pressure on the pocket and the Browns will need a more mobile QB that can throw from outside the pocket.
Matt; Auburn, Indiana
Can't go wrong with Quinn. Give him a shot!!!!
jb [massillon]
will coach pull anderson tonight if team start sinking
andrew(virginia)
hey how will the redskins end up?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:45 PM)
Eight, or nine wins. I thought they were a paper lion and this past weekend is a preview of the rest of the season,.
Josh
Yes ii want to see Quinn get in... Anderson been "trying" to be an NFL starter... almost too much... Quinn alittle more accurate.. alittle more smarter and better mood than Anderson.
Grant (Seattle)
What is the chance that Kurt Warner and Big Ben both play a full season? I know you're not a fantasy guy but should I hang on to both considering the injury risk or trade one?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:46 PM)
Slim.. Neither one is exceptionally mobile and not many QBs play in every game anymore..
Steve (Phoenix, AZ)
Have the Giants announced their starting kicker yet?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:47 PM)
Not that I have heard. Not unusual for Coughlin to play it close to the vest.
Ben (Lansing, MI)
Winslow - Winslow - Winslow - Winslow - Winslow - Winslow. Will he play tonight? I'm tired of hearing 500 people ask if Quinn is going to sniff the field...
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:48 PM)
I'd be shocked if he plays tonight. He was in the hospital for four nights, I believe.
Larry(philadelphia)
If I know the eagles can't cover a TE and the other teams know the eagles can't cover a TE, why haven't the eagles figured it out yet?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:49 PM)
Oh, they can cover a TE. It's just that they throw so much at the O line with their blitz package which generally leaves a big hole for the TE to sit in. If Johnson blitzed less the TE wouldn't be open as often.. I'd rather he kept on blitzing, it seems to be working for them.
Browns Fan in Tennessee
Do you think Cleveland's defense will improve any time soon?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:52 PM)
They ARE improving (granted slowly) but their pass coverage, on the back end, is better but they need to develop a better pass rush, up front.
Brandon Jacobs
The SIM posted on ESPN has me rushing 16 times for 31 yards... REALLY? SERIOUSLY????
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:52 PM)
Don't see it.. I see a big night for you, against the Browns.
Mark, Arlington texas
Drew Bledsoe fell against the G-Men on MNF 2 years ago, and Tony Romo was born. Derek Anderson follows suit tonight, falling against the G-Men, and Brady Quinn will be born.
Drew, Burlington, VT
What can we expect from Trent Edwards against the Chargers this week?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:54 PM)
A big game (if he plays). Don't know how he is feeling, these days, but if he's not 100% I could see JP starting as the Bills should be able to win, either way, against the Chiefs.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:56 PM)
My bad.. I was thinking the Bills were playing KC.. Same answer, though. With the big pass rush SD can bring, it may be best to protect Edwards for another week.
Josh Ft Wayne,In
boss to have more of a fantasy impact tonight more than edwards? I hope!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:57 PM)
I'm not a fantasy league guy. However I do believe Boss will have more production, than Edwards. Cleveland will struggle trying to find time to hit Edwards for any long balls..
eric (winston-salem NC)
i think the giants will kill the browns 32-10
Bobby V (NYC)
Pick 1 to hang on to for the remainder of the season (gotta drop 2): Le'ron McCalin, Kevin Curtis, Ryan Torain
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (7:59 PM)
Is this the place? Am I in the right room? Are we talking Browns? Giants? Romo's itty bitty pinkie?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:59 PM)
Curtis is supposed to be ready to return and when he does he will be a major part of Phily's passing game.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:02 PM)
Ready to grab the ball and run as soon as you are ready to handoff, Doug. Unless this is the Wildcat and you want to fake it to me and keep running.
andy
which kicker is starting for giants i need to know for fantasy thank you please help
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:03 PM)
I will look as I chat but I cannot find it right now. It seems like the question of the night
Grant (Seattle)
The Giants looked unreal last week. Are the champs that good or are my Hawks that bad?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:05 PM)
Both. The Seahawks have major problems that go beyond the receiver injuries. Obviously, losing Hasselbeck for any period of time is a major blow when your backup can't throw the ball 30 yards without launching it like a weather balloon.
ian (nj)
tynes is inactive
aris
carney
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:06 PM)
I don't have confirmation on those yet. Did ESPN TV say anything official?
Scott (Alexandria, VA)
Will Shockey play for New Orleans this weekend? What kind of impact can we expect from him for the remainder of the season?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:07 PM)
I don't know Shockey's status. When he returns, his biggest impact may be as a blocker. The Saints have so many weapons that Shockey may just be another guy in the pattern. It's not like their passing game is struggling right now.
John Carney (NY)
Looks like it is the most important day of my career...There has not been so much interest in an NFL Kicker since...?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:08 PM)
...Vanderjagt started running his mouth 5 years ago.
Jon - Louisville, KY
Tynes is inactive. Rotoworld.com
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:09 PM)
Nice. I was just there 15 minutes ago and must have missed it.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
The Sting with Redford and Newman is on AMC...is there a better con man movie than that??
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:09 PM)
The Usual Suspects is great, but I think the Kaiser Soze ending is telegraphed a bit.
Austin, TX
I am up one point in fantasy. He has J. Lewis and I have G-Men D. My chances?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:10 PM)
I love the Giants defense if you get points for sacks and turnovers. If you are hoping for a defensive TD, that is so much more of a crap shoot.
Martin Gramatica (Tampa, FL)
since i hurt myself while taking a victory prance
Grant (Seattle)
PS on the Hawks: What happened to our D? I thought we had one of the best linebacker groups in football!
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:10 PM)
The linebackers are good. The secondary is a bigger problem.
Patrick (MN)
I think Primal Fear is a classic with a superb Ed Norton
Dan (New Jersey)
Do the Giants have a glaring weaknes right now? What would you point to as their weakest area?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:12 PM)
They don't have a glaring weakness. I don't see that many overwhelming strengths either, not since they lost some bodies on the D-line. The running game is very strong, overall defense is strong, the passing game is better than I thought it would be. I guess this season, not having a serious weakness is the best strength you can have.
Nick
Do you feel that the pats would still be undefeated if brady had not been hurt?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:14 PM)
They wouldn't have lost the Dolphins game. The secondary is still a big problem in New England, and I think the Chargers would have won last night/
Terry (ATL)
Mike, what are the chances Brady plays a significant role in this game?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:15 PM)
I don't see it happening.
Dan (Boston)
BLOCKBUSTER DEAL HELP!!! Which side would you rather have: Marion Barber, Andre Johnson, and Donald Driver...or...Vincent Jackson, Steve Breaston, Larry Johnson, and Lendale White?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:16 PM)
OK, to get this guy off my back so he stops posting 20 timesL Gimmee Barber and company. I don't want LJ, and I am really worried about LenDale's 3-inch touchdowns drying up.
attention to kickers.....
How about that guy that kicked the ball with a flat front shoe. Wasn't he missing toes or something..that is still nuts!
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:17 PM)
Yep, Tom Dempsey had half a foot. The NFL changed the rules so guys like him couldn't use special shoes. Because what kind of story would a one-footed kicker make? Oh, wait, a tremendous one. Thanks NFL.
Dan (Boston)
THANK YOU MIKE
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Tanier, stop disrespecting the Fins. They put up 38 on the Pats D. Would the game have been closer, definately, but the Fins would have pulled it off.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:19 PM)
That game started with a Cassel sack and turnover early. It was one of those snowball games. I think the timbre of the game would have been very different. You have to remember that routs start because a team falls behind and has to pass-pass-pass. Imagine how different that one might have been if the snowball never started rolling.
Jason (Glendale, AZ)
Tell Dan in Boston he's in my next league if he takes the V. Jackson side of that deal!
phoenix jones
is there anywhere online i can watch the game at or at least hear playbyplay?
Jerett
Is there a way to watch the game to night on the net?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:20 PM)
People ask every week. I have no idea. I know nothing about the Internet. I don't think ESPN has put the tech in place to do this. But if someone knows something else let me know.
mike (caledonia, MI)
wow, Lions are 0-5. Last year they started 5-2. They can't be this bad...can they????
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:21 PM)
Yep. That's what happens when you part with several half-decent players, replace them with old Buccaneers backups, fire your OC and replace him with some guy who runs a 1960s system, and let a nitwit run your organization for a decade.
Patrick (MN)
Mike, is dropping a Jason Cambell in favor of a Matt Ryan a wise move?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:22 PM)
Oooh, I don't know. You are really buying high on Ryan.
J
IS IT JUST ME...OR IS ESPN BLACKED OUT?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:22 PM)
Just you. I am looking at Braylon Edwards right now... Hey, they do have numbers on their helmets. What is that about?
Chaz- Brooklyn NY
Mike, who do you think has the edge right now in the AFC East?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:24 PM)
The Giants. They are building a margin for error. They will get the Cowboys without Romo, which is a big help. They win tonight and next week and they can afford to trip once or twice and not lose too much ground.
Jason (Glendale, AZ)
Let me stump for you . . . You can watch the game via the ESPN Gamecast. I watch it at work all the time (shhh, don't tell). It is about 10 seconds behind the game. Pair that up with the local ESPN Radio affiliate in your area for the audio and whala!
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:26 PM)
If I get fired in 5 minutes for posting that, I will find you.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:26 PM)
If I get fired in 5 minutes for posting that, I will find you.
Non-Patriots Fans (Everywhere)
Look out folks. Pro Football Outsiders, I mean Patriots Fans Only is here.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:27 PM)
Cute. I Ever So LOver the Patriots. Tra la la la la. I Love-Love-Love them, which is why I am sitting in a room that is painted green in a house that's about 3000 yards from the Linc. But thank you for trolling.
Ty (Texas)
the numbers are part of the 50's uniforms a lot of changes since then huh
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:28 PM)
Yeah, those Browns are fashion forward. I like the basics, though.
brad (WI)
what is wrong with the browns this year? thought they were suppose to be good
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:29 PM)
Really an overrated team last year. They had very few injuries, so everything ran smoothly all year, which never happens in the NFL. Look at some of the unusual games they won: the Boink field goal against the Ravens, they won a close sleet and rain game in their somewhere -- and you see how close they came to being just another team.
matt (michigan)
patriots suck they can't win a game without tom brady
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:30 PM)
They've won three.
CowboyFanboy
Can the Cowboys win without Romo?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:31 PM)
They can beat the Rams,. If TO doesn't go boom, I give them a split against the Bucs and Giants. They will be very happy to go 2-1 in the next three weeks.
mike (caledonia, MI)
Hmmm... Let's see.... The Lions are 0-5, U of M is 2-4 coming off a loss to Toledo (???), The Pistons choke every year in the East Finals, The Tigers had all the hype in the world and still suck
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:32 PM)
You are making me feel better about life here in Philadelphia, where the Phillies are surprisingly good and college hoops season brings 6 fun teams to root for, 1 of which is usually good.
Dan Orlovsky (Detroit)
So Mike...how stupid was it for me to just run right out of the end zone?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:33 PM)
Dan, you are a Game Manager.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
don't forget your mayor is in jail, too. booo detroit.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:34 PM)
We can send Detroit members of the Street family if they need more crooked politicians.
L dot G dot (Paintsville, KY)
Philly college basketball is WEAK! Thomas Jones: Who can I get for him after his massive performance?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:35 PM)
Depends on how impressed your fellow owners are by short touchdowns. If he is your RB3 I would go in search of receiver help while his stock is high.
William Clay Ford Jr (Detroit)
Yeah, but at least the US auto industry is going gangbusters. Oh wait...
Justin (Colorado)
did anyone else notice the game clock started a second and a half too late on the ryan pass to jenkins with one second left in the CHI V. ATL Game or is that just me?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:35 PM)
Didn't notice, Justin.
Chris(Texas)
How long can the Titans stay unbeaten?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:36 PM)
October 27th...here come the Colts.
jon kitna (michigan)
lions 10-6 i promise it
Marc (Tallahassee)
Can Tebow still win the Hiesman this year and what do you think the Buccaneers chances of making it to the Super Bowl?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:40 PM)
Two totally unrelated questions! I haven't followed the Heisman race, so I don't know. I can tell you what I think of Tebow as an NFL prospect (not a good one.) The Bucs can be scary if they develop an offense with any big play potential. I see the offense seizing up in the weeks to come, though, if they don't find a guy who can really scare defenses 25 yards downfield.
Steve (Syracuse)
I think the Titans D will have something to say about that prediction Mike....
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:41 PM)
They have a very good D. But guess who is back? And guess what he did to the Ravens D yesterday ...
Ty (Texas)
Mike Do you consdider Eli Manning to be in the upper echlon on QB's now?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:42 PM)
Always a tough question. Top half? Yes. Top tier? I don't know where a tier starts or ends. He is in a place with Big Ben, Rivers in my mind: young guys who can win, do a lot of things well, but still have holes in their games.
Richard- Roxboro NC
Have I seen Tony G has a Chief for the last time?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:44 PM)
I would be shocked if some contender didn't spend a 3rd rounder on him. The Eagles should get him. If the Cardinals are serious about this playoff run, get him. He could help the Giants, lots of other teams.
Steve (Syracuse)
Mike- the ravens were beat up from Tennessee the week prior. Needless to say its going to be a much better MNF game then the previous few...
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:44 PM)
The Ravens were beat up.Still a pretty convincing win. We will see how the Colts look ater Green Bay.
don Pittsburgh
Tony K just said that Eli Manning is better than big Ben. Do they drink before the game?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:45 PM)
It is not a ridiculous assertion. Eli doesn't get sacked 8 times per week, 4 because the line stinks and 4 because he refuses to dump the ball into the flat.
vick (fort worth (texas))
i hear all the talk about the giants offensive line being the best in the league now. there line is better than the patriots or the chargers all of a sudden. how is that?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:47 PM)
The Broncos, shockingly, may have the best OL in football right now, even with a rookie starting and Nalen hurt. The Giants are top 5. The Patriots o-line is a Brady-caused mirage to a degree, like the Colts line. The Chargers line was awesome 2 years ago but slipped last year. Line play can change even when personnel doesn't. You are talking about guys who need perfect technique and excellent timing. Those things can slip if the coaching changes, if conditioning falters, etc.
Mike(Utica,NY)
Manning has a career qb rating of 75 while Ben has a qb over 90. Eli is closer to being the next Joe Namath than the next great QB.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:49 PM)
Rating doesn't account for sacks, a huge part of the game, and the QB is as responsible for sacks as his line. Eli doesn't miss starts. I am not arguing Eli over Ben, just pointing out that the argument is close.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
I drink before the games... Does that make my posts less valid? Or wait, would they be valid even if I hadn't been drinking? hmmm, I'm gonna have to get back to you on that one...
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:50 PM)
I dunno. Matt Millen didn't drink, but he was a moron. Tomorrow you will be sober. Millen will still be fired.
vick (fort worth (texas))
is jason witten the best tight end in the nfl.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:50 PM)
Maybe. He's a good blocker, and no one is better at finding seams.
BOB (CANADA)
I THINK ELI MANNING IS BETTER THAN HIS BROTHER.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
As much as I dislike Eli, he is better than Big Ben. Geez, I think I'm gonna puke after saying that...
Jerry (UT)
QB rating has to be the most worthless stat of all sports. It's also a worhtless arguement.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:52 PM)
Worthless arguments can be fun. QB Rating has its merits, but it is very flawed and hides it's flaws with weird decimals that make it look technical. Stop by www.footballoutsiders.com and check out DYAR, a much more accurate QB stat,
vick (fort worth (texas))
big ben and eli both has won a super bowl so they are both capable of winning the big game.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:53 PM)
... and by extention, they (and Trent Dilfer) are better than Dan Marino, Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly! I kid, I kid, but that whole "win the big game" stuff is pretty silly.
Rich (Pittsburgh)
Part of the reason we have hard time thinking Eli is better than Ben, is that Roethlisberger always looks heroic on the field while Eli is more systematic.
Nick
Big Ben chokes in big games, Eli takes an underdog status and performs. I don't like Eli or big ben but I think Roethlisberger is seriously overrated. Look at his superbowl performance.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:55 PM)
See? One man's meat, another's poison, or something. Ben somehow choked though he won the SB, Eli gets an assist from Samuel dropping an interception and ... That's what happens when we judge players on a few plays from one game. You get these nowhere arguments about "clutch play"
Jeffy T Kasson, MN
Mike, what are your thoughts on the Vikings making the playoffs?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:57 PM)
I think it will be hard for the NFC North to produce a Wild Card, and I don't see them winning the division. The EJ Henderson injury is bigger than people think. Frerote is pretty awful. Seeing AP get the fumbles isn't a good sign.
Rich (Pittsburgh)
Do you think the Roethlisberger, Manning, Rivers class was the best since 83?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:57 PM)
Yep ... another reason I lump them together!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Mike...how would you like to tackle Brandon Jacobs?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:58 PM)
Look, Eli threw a pick! I weigh almost as much as Jacobs. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad ...
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
YES! My reverse curse worked against Eli! I rule the world! I'm clutch baby...just clutch...
Philip, Columbus, Ohio
For the love of God, enough of the Browns Bashing - Jaws, you of all people know how enthusiastic and loyal football fans in Ohio are - I still remember you from YSU, that's why I have always been a fan of yours.. I am very disappointed in the broadcast - sound is now off and am listening to the Browns network - I didn't think I was tuned into the Giants Broadcast System.
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (8:59 PM)
You know Jaws calls them as he sees them. There hasn't been a lot of positive Browns film for him to watch. Last Question ...
Mike(Utica,NY)
Do you think Romo is an upper tier QB or just an average QB playing with great offensive talents around him?
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (9:03 PM)
Again with tiers! he really is an exceptional talent. The "young Favre" comparisons fit in many ways, because Favre was a gambler who threw tons of touchdowns, turned it over, lost in the playoffs for a variety of reasons. Romo is one of those galvanizing players, like Eli, like Reggie Bush, that fans have an urge to bash (or overrate) because they are Ground Zero for the hype machine. All 3 are very good players, all 3 get a disproportionate share of hype. If I was building my team around one of them, it might be Romo because of his talent, experience, ability to fit in a variety of systems. But I would have his girlfriend deported
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (9:04 PM)
OK, kids, time to watch some football. Check out Football Outsiders for in-depth analysis. See you all in a few weeks!
Buzzmaster (9:05 PM)
Great stuff from Mike and all our MNF chatters. All righty, SportsNation. Do we actually have a game here?
Jason (Glendale, AZ)
His girlfriend could be "deported" to my house!
Buzzmaster (9:05 PM)
I should have tuned in sooner, apparently.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
3....2.....1......BUZZZZZZZZZZ!
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
the wildcat formation, the official NFL sign of desperation.
CG (Waco)
The Browns are driving down the field like it's no problem. They just need to score TDs here instead of FGs.
Buzzmaster (9:06 PM)
I think it's the numbers on the helmets. They were just confused the first five weeks.
Matt (Cleveland,OH)
The Browns came to play tonight. Looks like the bye week refreshed this team.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
come one Gmen embarass the Clowns!
Steve (Syracuse)
Wildcat is the new West Coast offense, sooner or later everyone will run a variation of it.
Buzzmaster (9:07 PM)
Not relevant to the game at hand, but I can't help wondering when someone tries to use the all-out spread offense in the NFL?
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Awwww already people complaining about the wildcat? Seriously? IT WORKS! Get over it. You are probably the same people that said the Shotgun formation was gimmicky, or the 3-4 defense would never work... Just enjoy the innovation of football...
Buzzmaster (9:08 PM)
Whoa there, I'm not completely sold on the forward pass just yet.
Jeffy T Kasson, MN
Is this a pee wee game...those helmets are ridiculous
Eric (Springfield,MA)
With those helmets the Browns are wearing I think they have to go home to the playgrown with them....
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
look, if allie friggin sherman could figure out how to stop the wildcat, im sure spagnulo can too.
Steve (Syracuse)
Eh buzz I dont htink the spread would work, the defenses have too good of speed to match up with it. The wildcat works because there are so many options you can go from it.
Buzzmaster (9:09 PM)
Browns can't afford to throw away points like that missed FG.
john
Wildcat is more like the running QB, it'll be hot for a while, but eventually will fade away for what works best on a regular basis
Jeffy T Kasson, MN
BUZZ: what is that auto-refresh site, im sick of manually doing it. GO VIKINGS!
Buzzmaster (9:10 PM)
http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/index
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
But when you say Football do you mean Soccer?
Buzzmaster (9:11 PM)
Forget the Wildcat; the Browns are breaking out the 4-3-3
Dan (Willoughby, Ohio)
Browns looking alot better than a 1 - 3 team. this might break them outta their shell
Rob (Boston)
Browns are doing whatever they want offensively...well, except score touchdowns. They just need to keep their defense off the field so they can stay rested and they'll stay in this game.
Steve (Syracuse)
Eh that FG was one of those calls where later in the game Browns fans might be regretting.
Aaron (ATL)
Miami seems to be getting the most credit for using the Wildcat-hog-w/e, but did they use it first this season? I wan to say, that Jerious Norwood was lined up behind center really early on in the season, but Im not sure.
Buzzmaster (9:12 PM)
And with the way Matt Ryan is playing, we can't even make a quarterback joke out of that. Where is Joey Harrington when you need him?
Steve (Syracuse)
ATL used to use crazy formations like that all the time when they had Vick...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
If the Giants dont turn it over they are going to be hard to stop
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Dude, the Browns lined up in the 5-2-4 and the Giants were so confused, they had to call a timeout...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
super quick frist quarter....wow
Jim
Does anyone know the song that was on after a commercial a little while ago?
Buzzmaster (9:13 PM)
Viva Viagra?
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
playing a sad song on his piano, i think.
Tom (Chicago)
I'm sure direct snaps to the RB have been done before, but I don't think you've seen it where the RB has had so many different options.
Mike Caddo Mills, Texas
What else are they going to have on the Browns helmet, a little brown spot? I like them the way they are.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
The Dolphins are just the first team to use it more than once or twice a game. That's why everyone has been wildcat crazy...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
The wildcat is different than a RB direct snap, the LT lines up on the right side, so essentially you have 2 tackles on one side. If they are big guys like the Fins have, they can run the reverse to Ricky effectively. Or keep it and run up the middle when they bite on the fake reverse.
Dan (Willoughby, Ohio)
browns keep doing what their doing right now, i think we might have ourselves a ball position battle all night
Buzzmaster (9:14 PM)
Giants are trying to make them pay, driving inside the 20.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
im pretty sure super tecmo bowl had a direct snap to thurmon thomas.
Steve (Syracuse)
There's that NYG Running game...
Ben (Potomac, MD)
I think the Ravens my try the all spread with Flacco. It worked yesterday. It may help that offense
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
As long as they don't kick to reggie bush they will be ok, oh wait.....
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Thurman was unstoppable, it was like pop corn bursting when they tried to gang tackle him.
Eric (Springfield,MA)
The giants throw too much RUN THE BALL !
Dan (Willoughby, Ohio)
i think the key to our run defense is to choke off both corners and force them to keep it inside. we got the big bodies necessary to handle it...
Dan (New Jersey)
Derrick Ward with a big run. Is it hard to gameplan for 3 different running styles?
Steve (Syracuse)
Flacco looked AWFUL yesterday, against a banged up Colts defense there was just nothing good to say about Flacco in that game.
Brandon (NY)
The Giants should put in Super Mario Manningham, hes way to good to leave on the bench!
Buzzmaster (9:17 PM)
Brandon Jacobs with a finesse run for the TD.
Dan (Willoughby, Ohio)
nevermind about going inside
Buzzmaster (9:17 PM)
I've got to say, that was Bo Jackson-esque.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
that was too easy...i luv it
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Brandon Jacobs just tip toe-ed!
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Geez...Jacobs is a beast...Nice TD...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
its just the start of the rout
Kev (Providence)
He tip toed all over the browns like the browns said he would haha
tbone
bring back kosar
don (pittsburgh)
I can't fathom why they picked a Monday Night primetime game to weaqr those helmets
Buzzmaster (9:18 PM)
Whoever Jacobs just demolished may need the number as a reminder of who he is.
chris (brooklyn)
beautiful powerful run and good blocking that gave jacobs a nice lane
CG (Waco)
There's the difference between these two teams. Giants keep a drive going and the Browns' drive stalling.
Jay (San Diego)
Brandon Jacobs is bigger than the entire Cleveland D Line. Why don't the Giants just give him the ball so I can win in Fantasy this week! Tony can't you do something???
Ben (Potomac, MD)
The Browns need to come out throwing
Alex (Ohio)
Brandon Jacobs just ran over the Browns
Steve (Syracuse)
No one thought the browns had a D---they just proved everyone right.
Vin Dago (Moorestown, NJ)
Where is M.Dean Perry when you need him?
Buzzmaster (9:20 PM)
Hanging out with Tommy Vardell
Steve (Syracuse)
Browns are good between the 20s, the GMen can execute inside the 20...thats the difference between a contender and a pretender.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
seriously, if you told me brandon jacobs eats babies, i'd believe you. that's right, i'm saying brandon jacobs eats people.
Jay (NY)
First thing I see on this page was Buzz asking about Viagra. Is Jose Canseco in this chat?
Ryan
Who has the ball right now?
Buzzmaster (9:21 PM)
Browns taking over after the NYG TD.
Ben (Potomac, MD)
If the Browns have a losing season, will Crenell be on the hot seat?
Buzzmaster (9:21 PM)
What do you all think? Is Crennel to blame here, or were the Browns just overrated entering the season?
Dan (Willoughby, Ohio)
Someone needs to tell everyone in Cleveland why Brady Quinn is still on the bench. ITS TIME
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
The Browns have Offensive Dysfunction. Or O.D. Maybe they can make a pill for that?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Crennel does get some blame but does anyone really believe things would be much different with another coach....injuries and schedule do not help
Ben (Potomac, MD)
I think the latter
Tom (Chicago)
The Browns were probably overrated, especially because they have D issues. But the offense has been worse than last year, and part of that has to be coaching.
Buzzmaster (9:23 PM)
They're hanging in tonight at least. Big play to Braylon Edwards, but now can they punch it in?
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
They were totally over-rated going into the season, but they are also horribly coached. Earlier in the game, a safety showed his blitz with over 10 seconds left on the play clock. Eli checked out of the play and ran at the blitz and gained 5 yards. You just can't do things like that...
Dan (Willoughby, Ohio)
Clock management is all i got to say. Romeo is to blame in some instances but not all of them
Braylon Edwards (Cleveland)
Waiting....waiting...waiting...
Ben (Potomac, MD)
Great Throw, A little behind Edwards
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
Quinn doesnt make that throw...
Kev (Providence)
Wow
CG (Waco)
If the Browns don't score here.....
Steve (Syracuse)
how did Braylon not get in on that? He was like 5-10 feet ahead of Ross...
Steve (Syracuse)
Once again- incompetence, having to take a time out after a big play shows the turmoil on the team...
Ben (Potomac, MD)
JAMAL LEWIS to the gut
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Put in Ken Dorsey! He is a winner! Actually, I just say this cause I lost a 10 dollar bet thinking he was out of the league already...
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
maybe braylon has lewis on his fantasy team
John H (Livingston, NJ)
I can't believe ross fell down
Vin Dago (Moorestown, NJ)
Inside the RED ZONE = 3 for thre Browns
Brandon (NY)
Heyyy, what did I say? "Throw it to Braylon, and let him do what he does best, punish the opponents!" Thats my boy, thats the reciever I remember watching on tv during his days at Michigan! Go Blue!!!!!
Buzzmaster (9:26 PM)
Michigan, definitely one of the better teams in the MAC.
Ben (Potomac, MD)
Steve--The Throw was behind Edwards
Buzzmaster (9:26 PM)
Browns miss out on the pass interference on a tipped pass.
BKG Cleveland
Boom I think I just heard a bomb go off
Buzzmaster (9:27 PM)
I believe that was the dynamite.
Buzzmaster (9:27 PM)
And Lewis punches it in for the TD.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Browns 2nd rushing td of the season?
Ben (Potomac, MD)
JUST AS I SAID
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Did the Browns just score a TD? Are they playing the Bengals again???
Dan (Willoughby, Ohio)
TOUCHDOWN! Thats the Jamal we need
Steve (Syracuse)
Not as flashy as BJacobs, but just as effective, TD Browns.
don (pittsburgh)
thats giving Michigan alot of credit BUZZ
Joe (Upstate NY)
Braylon Edwards is killing me. I need 23 pts from him to win this week. Why couldn't he score on that???
John H (Livingston, NJ)
I had a feeling the Browns would give a good effort tonight.
Minnesota Vikings (Mn)
Where is ED Hoculi tonight?
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
Your in rough shape if you are still starting edwards
Jay (NY)
Braylon has over 100 yards already and he's killing you? What are you in a TD league?
Steve (Syracuse)
Looking over the vegas lines for next week so he can hedge his bets on where he is going to blow his next call.
Brandon (NY)
Hey Buzz, that was a low blow. That hit me below the belt. Once RR gets his players that fit the system, Michigan will be good. Michigan will be back. I guarentee this, the heisman winners in the next 4 years, starting in 2009, will be Sam McGuffie, Sam McGuffie, Sam McGuffie and Tate Forcier...And the Browns have the lead. C'mon Browns, I cant have the Giants HC get points for a win!
Buzzmaster (9:31 PM)
A Browns fan and a Michigan fan? Let me guess, you're voting for Bob Barr, too?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Can't believe Ross caught up to him, good speed, bad coverage.
Steve (Syracuse)
Uh oh...I just got a call from Commish GERdel (thanks Pacman) and seems as though im getting fined for my previous comments....
Parker
commercial!
Buzzmaster (9:32 PM)
Yeah, we do seem to have hit a commercial-heavy patch.
Buzzmaster (9:33 PM)
But who couldn't use a DR leaf blower?
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Boooooooooo Buzz!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Don't worry, Steve, you will get reinstated to MNF Marathon.
Brandon (NY)
I am by no means a Browns fan. I want them to win, so I dont lose my fantasy game. I am a Texans fan! Matt Schaub+Andre Johnson=the best QB and WR tandem in the NFL!
Parker
there has seriously been like 6 commercial breaks in the past 15 min
Mike (Lexington, KY)
the nFL does love their commercials
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
on the bright side, i have a DR leaf vac on the way.
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
Cmon Plaxico.. I need 2 points to win this week... AND on a side note... who else is sick of these GEICO Commercials??
Max (Iowa)
I think so thats why the baseball game is on though
Jerry Eastwood (Haslett, MI )
Hey Buzz, Phillies are winning 2-1 in the top of the fourth
Steve (Syracuse)
Man, I was thinking this past sunday...I pay over 300 bucks a year for Sunday Ticket...you'd think I would not have to sit through all them commercials...
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
I'm voting for Ross Perot...
Buzzmaster (9:34 PM)
Braylon Edwards is voting for Aaron Ross.
Jay (NY)
Drew Brees and Marques Colston would like to meet you Brandon. Oh and here's a healthy Tony Romo and TO.
CG (Waco)
I'm sick of all commercials. It seems like they purposely put more in the game to get people upset.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
This is one of the few sports where they can plug in commercials and come back without missing a beat. It's amazing how well they time it.
John H (Livingston, NJ)
They should just do away with commercials, I want 4 solid hours of football on monday nights.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
btw, I broke my pinky earlier this year. Just hope Romo doesn't have to have a pin inserted into his hand. It takes a bit longer to heal. And is quite painful...
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
And JEFFY T is a Fantasy champ.. THANK YOU PLAX....ugh flag...
Steve (Syracuse)
There is that browns coverage we all know and love...
Buzzmaster (9:35 PM)
Block in the back brings it back
Mike (Lexington, KY)
what gets me is the commercial then one play and then another commercial...they NFL does it all the time
Steve (Syracuse)
On a side note...last week it seemed as though we were headed for winter here in the Cuse...today it was 80...gotta love cusetown weather.
Parker
ya thats what i was talking about, commercial 1 play commercial, kick off commercial, play, commercial
Steve (Syracuse)
Dont worry buzz, Gmen can just do it again.
Buzzmaster (9:37 PM)
They did ... the penalty, that is. Holding this time.
John H (Livingston, NJ)
gotta love global warming
Jay (NY)
You people need to learn how to condition yourself for the commercials. Drink 5 for each commercial. You'll start wanting them to come by the 3rd quarter.
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
same here in MN 80's all weekend....
Ian,England
We got two channels showing this game - one showing commercials and the other not - guess which one i'm watching!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
that wasnt holding it was tackling
Brandon (NY)
How long until college basketball starts and it starts to snow again? Nothing like a weekend of college basketball, college football and NFL...
Buzzmaster (9:38 PM)
Good lord, there are a lot of people on an NFL sideline during games.
Steve (Syracuse)
Not so much John...calling for 40s again this weekend haha
Private Mac (Fort Drum, NY)
yay browns! I have browns season tickets. my girl is there. im stuck in fort drum. *sigh. I dont have a tv either. *tears.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
I knew there was something I liked about England...
Steve (Syracuse)
Gotta pay player's salaries somehow Buzz...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Giants penalties were a big factor on that drive
Buzzmaster (9:39 PM)
They can't even get the punt away without a flag.
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
I'm on the sideline right now.... I'm the guy holding the TIM COUCH for MVP sign!
don (pittsburgh)
hey, was that pumpkinhead?
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
How gross is that pumpkin mask?
Punt-O-Meter (Cleveland Brown Stadium)
Finally we got our 1st punt!!
Jay (NY)
Cmon buzz each team needs their own manicurist in case someone breaks a nail. Part of the game.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
psssh, that UFO defense is just a gimmick...
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
hey private mac. At least when you end up in IRAQ AFN network broadcasts 4 games at a time... better then in the states!
Buzzmaster (9:41 PM)
Yes, that seems like it's almost worth it ... wait, no it doesn't.
Jay (NY)
More flags in this game than a normal Nascar parking lot. Ba Dum Bum
Steve (Syracuse)
WOW---no commercial? What is this?!
John H (Livingston, NJ)
Giants better stop dragging their feet(ross, cough cough) or we might be in for an upset
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I was waiting for a punt-o-meter appearence!
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
I want to see more punts. That's the whole reason I watch MNF!
Tim (New Jersey)
I grew up just North of Syracuse on the lake Steve. I don't miss the 150 inches of snow at all.
Steve (Syracuse)
Watch the UFO defense start to be used against the wildcat offense haha
Zach (Short HIlls, NJ)
So I don't get the TV until 10 (damn non-Giants fans at school) - what's the deal with the penalties? And did the Browns really score a touchdown? Really?
Buzzmaster (9:42 PM)
Rough series for the Giants, and yes.
Jay (NY)
Yeah I'm pretty sure I'd rather go to ESPN Zone instead of Iraq. Now if you're telling me we opened one there...we have a decision to make.
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Buzz, I can tell that your delighted I'm here.
Steve (Syracuse)
Ah Timmy, I have lived here all my life...I actually like it through January...after the holidays though it is just miserable and cold...thats when i hate it.
Buzzmaster (9:43 PM)
At least you have that trip to a bowl game to look forward to ...
Steve (Syracuse)
Zach---the game has basically been play flag commercial...play flag...commercial...rinse repeat.
Buzzmaster (9:44 PM)
Browns pick up the first down. Nice night for Braylon Edwards so far.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I went to the ESPN Zone in Vegas a month ago, you have to spend 10 bucks minimum, per person, an hour to watch the game... which isn't too bad considering the prices are high, but geez!
John H (Livingston, NJ)
I'm getting sick of these quick slant routes to edwards.
Steve (Syracuse)
Buzz- I was actually just talking to a buddy the other day----they should make a bowl for the 2 worse teams in the FBS...SU could then have something to strive for...
Buzzmaster (9:45 PM)
I think it should be like the EPL -- three worst teams get relegated to Div I-AA.
Kellen
Whrere has this team come from. This is not the same browns' team from the first quarter of the season.
Steve (Syracuse)
How about a quick slant to Heiden? That better?
Brandon (NY)
Yeah, hes having a great night. And it just so happens to be the week that I bench him in fantasy. It didnt cost me, as Stevie Breaston had a great game yesterday!
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
Braylon Edwards might actually be worthy of his 1sd round fantasy status after tonight
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Boo Buzz!
tommytristin
why are there no cheerleaders on monday night football
don (pittsburgh)
Anderson has almost 200 yards with 4:00 to go in the half? Am i missing something?
Buzzmaster (9:47 PM)
Not unless you're in the Giants secondary.
Jay (NY)
I want to be in your league if Edwards was a first round pick.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
at least we dont have to hear about Quinn all night
Jaime ( San Bruno, CA )
- The giants are the best team in the NFL. - This is Monday Night Football. Two reasons why the Browns are all of a sudden, playing better.
Steve (Syracuse)
This is who everyone thought the browns were before the season. Also- I feel as though this is who I thought the GMen secondary is. Without a pass rush they are quite uneffective.
Kellen
No Cheerleaders in Cleveland Tommy
Alex (Ohio)
Derek Anderson is terrible
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
because neither the giants or browns have cheerleaders.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
They would rather make us watch commercials than cheerleaders...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
DA has been unusally accurate thus far...can he keep it up in the 2nd half
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
The Browns don't have cheerleaders...no wonder they can't win anything.
Steve (Syracuse)
The Browns D has been the biggest surprise to me...and IMO isnt getting enough credit for not breaking tonight.
Buzzmaster (9:49 PM)
Nice hit by the Giants CB, unfortunately it was on his teammate.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
oh for the love of pete stop them on 3rd down already.
Connor (pittsburgh)
a team with cheerleaders only has them to get the attention off their terrible play
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
They would rather show a close up of the DAWG POUND then skantily clad woman
Buzzmaster (9:49 PM)
TD Browns!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
OMG DA IS GOOD AGAIN?!
Steve (Syracuse)
Something called a Steptoe just burned that Gmen secondary..
John H (Livingston, NJ)
Here's a fun fact, the Giants had cheerleaders for one season in the 1950's
Steve (Syracuse)
And...then something called a Darnell Denkins scored a TD...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
this just keeps getting interestinger and interestinger
CG (Waco)
Unbelieveable!! Will the Eagles be the only NFC East team to win this weekend?
Kellen
Kellen Who????
Brandon (NY)
Haha, I may not have to listen to Giants fans gloating tomorrow after all...
Joe
Who is Dinkins?
Buzzmaster (9:51 PM)
Wasn't he the mayor of NYC?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Kellen did you just question your existence?
Fairweather Browns Fans (All over this place)
Anderson stinks!!! We want Brady!! Oh wait...Go Anderson!!!
don (pittsburgh)
that was a hek of a pass
Steve (Syracuse)
I think we are just seeing the weakness of the Gmen D to be honest...DA isnt this good, Gmen arent this bad...its a little bit of both..
Connor (pittsburgh)
It is unbelievable that if giants lose Tenneesse will be the only undefeated team, no one thought that
Joe
Wow these Browns sure know how to use nobodies!
Buzzmaster (9:52 PM)
It takes years of practice.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
DA to Quinn....keep holding that clipboard
Steve (Syracuse)
IMO, Browns win here...Eagles are right back in the converstation. Dallas is facing a 1-4 stretch if they are without Romo and Felix, Washington is back down to earth, and the Gmen look beatable.
Buzzmaster (9:52 PM)
In fairness, the Giants looked pretty darn good every week until now.
Zach (Short HIlls, NJ)
Wow. I need to get on a TV. What is going on? Somebody tell me the Gamecast is terribly wrong...
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
If the Browns keep scoring more points than the Giants, they'll win.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
the secondary may not be the best but those passes from DA are on the money
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
No one thought the Titans would be this good because we all thought Vince Young would be starting..
Steve (Syracuse)
Eh Giants struggled against the Bengals...dont forget that Buzz...
Alex (Ohio)
Giants will still win........I think everyone knows it too.
Kellen
Dinkins, Heiden who needs Winslow, Guess he can keep his "undisclosed illness"
Jay (NY)
You know who is good at using nobodies? Buzz.
Joe
Wow. Brandon Jacobs and Braylon Edwards have already won me my fantasy matchup.
Matt (IN)
That's a big BOOOOOOOOO to Zach Rastall for trying to be like John Madden. Don't you have school tomorrow Zach? Get to bed!
Joe
I have to say I was getting worried about Braylon Edwards
Brett (NE)
Coughlin just called. Needs a replacement for Aaron Ross, any takers?
Ogre (Adams College)
Fantasy football is for NERDS!!!
Connor (pittsburgh)
Browns win and suddenly the Steelers could be the best team in either the AFC or NFC because the Titans have yet to play any one, Dallas isn't looking good and washington just lost this week
daniel
titians defense has been good for the last three years. they are just starting to reach their potential.
Steve (Syracuse)
Wonder if this is the Shockey effect on Cleveland. KW Jr. is an outspoken voice in that lockerroom, wonder if his elimination has calmed this browns team.
Buzzmaster (9:55 PM)
GIants run a play, flag comes in.
Buzzmaster (9:56 PM)
Ooh, but it's on the Browns.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
if the giants limit the penalties they will be fine
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
lol that Ogre comment was the best of the night!! The real irony though is that Ogre became a nerd...
Buzzmaster (9:56 PM)
Giants move into FG range with 1:25 left.
Steve (Syracuse)
Flag flag, play commercial...flag flag...play....Oops time for a commercial...
Joe
Where did Jacobs go?? Why are they using Ward every run?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
the Cleveland D is not good enough to stop the GMEN on their own
don (pittsburgh)
can't wait for the Ben vs Eli matchup 2 weeks from now
CG (Waco)
Here come the GMen. I thought Eli was gonna get hammered again.
Joe
Uh-oh another big-play Steve Smith
Mike (Lexington, KY)
this is too easy
Steve (Syracuse)
I cant wait for the Collins Manning matchup 2 weeks from today.
Jay (NY)
Brendan may have been the first person in any Buzz chat that used the word irony correctly.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
yell at'the hand...it's the hand's fault.
Steve (Syracuse)
I retract my statement about the Browns D I made earlier.
Kellen
now this looks like the browns we are used to.
Buzzmaster (9:59 PM)
3rd and 10 coming, edge of FG range right now.
Jay (NY)
Manny with the game tying RBI!
Buzzmaster (9:59 PM)
Fumble! But a flag down.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
is there a mountain near cleveland where that guy lives?
Buzzmaster (10:00 PM)
Illegal contact on the Browns. That's a killer.
don (pittsburgh)
ouch that one hurt
Steve (Syracuse)
Flag...yay
Mike (Lexington, KY)
LOL flag LOL
Steve (Syracuse)
I LOVE ME SOME FLAGS.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
wow, that penalty is like sticking your balls in a bear trap...
Buzzmaster (10:00 PM)
I'm going to go ahead and assume you're talking about footballs.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Eli, you're so lucky!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
thats Manny being ummmm good
Steve (Syracuse)
Whats up with refs single handedly changing these games the past few weeks. Sometimes you have to just let them play.
Jay (NY)
I don't know what to watch! There's football, baseball, family guy and Samantha Who is on. I mean what's a guy to do?
Buzzmaster (10:01 PM)
I don't know, but I know it doesn't involve Samantha Who.
Connor (pittsburgh)
the player of the game tonight so far is the flag
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
If you combined the 31 NFL starting QBs that aren't Brett Favre together, they won't even come close to equaling Favre!
John H (Livingston, NJ)
Wow Jay.....just wow
Steve (Syracuse)
we had our flag...time for the commercial.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
3-2 dodgas
Joe
It better be a fumble.
Kellen
who is samantha who
Buzzmaster (10:02 PM)
Why ask why?
dennis
'who cares about baseball
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Jay, for the sake of your manhood, I'd hope you choose MNF...
Jay (NY)
Oh please let the Phillies lose. That'll make my night.
Ed Hochuli (finally getting one right)
That's a personal foul against Jay in NY. 15 yards for something that's just wrong. Samantha who? Repeat 4th down.
Tim (Charlotte)
Crennel should be fired for having such a penalty ridden team
Steve (Syracuse)
I was just looking on CNN, and there is a video of a guy eating 45 slices of pizza in 10 mins...good god what has happened to society.
Buzzmaster (10:04 PM)
Can he stop the run? The Browns could use him.
Steve (Syracuse)
Phillies Rays would be the WORST RATED sports event...ever...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Big drive by Manning and the Giants...a TD would be huge
Joe
Isolated example, Tim.
Tom (Chicago)
Personal foul? I'm pretty sure that's a match penalty against Jay. He shouldn't be allowed to post again.
Buzzmaster (10:05 PM)
TD Plaxico
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Pass.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Plax is back....what a deflater for the Clowns
Steve (Syracuse)
Burress wide open.
Brandon (Ridgecrest)
Plaxico!!!!!! Ring up the points baby!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I CALLED IT. MANNING TO PLAX! Wow, how obvious was that!
Mr. P (Munster, IN)
It's Joey Chestnut eating all that pizza, what do you expect? He is the Coney Island Champion!
CG (Waco)
Another fade route TD. I love watching those.
Steve (Syracuse)
Must say- has been a better game than i expected coming in.
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
There you go Plaxico: earn that paycheck..
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
that's more like it...gmen gmen big blue big blue
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
hmmm, gotta avoid 5 more points from Eli, Boss, and J. Lewis... I think I've lost...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Brendan pats self on back
Buzzmaster (10:06 PM)
14 seconds left. Plenty of time to score. Just ask the Bears.
Ellis Hobbs (watching the game)
I know how that DB feels
Joe
Mr.P I don't think anyone knows that.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I have to Mike, I'm the Miss Cleo of Pro-Football
Buzzmaster (10:07 PM)
You're a fraud who advertises on late-night tv?
Joe (Upstate NY)
Come on Browns...As an Eagle fan, a giants loss and its a perfect week of football
Ed Hochuli (getting another one right)
That's a personal foul..excessive celebration against Brendan. Penalty will be enforced on the kickoff
Mike (Lexington, KY)
squibber
John H (Livingston, NJ)
Is it just me or does eli have knack for last minute drives for touchdowns, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
Mike (Lexington, KY)
LOL Brendan...thats good
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
look, joey chestnut is a national hero.
chris (brooklyn)
i really hate that stupid pooch kick it only gives the opposing teams better feild position just look at the alanta game yesterday
Adam (LA)
the giants should have Aaron Ross play 25 yards off Edwards for this play
Steve (Syracuse)
DA needs to dial one up to Bray right here...they cant sit on the ball...
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
And they squib kick. Can we officially say that is the dumbest thing in football? You would think with the amount of times it HASN'T worked, coaches would stop. Yet people complain about the Wildcat?
Buzzmaster (10:08 PM)
Squib kick into the prevent defense. That's the dumbest thing in football.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Eli has been huge in the 2 minute ooffense John...big games too
Steve (Syracuse)
HEiden did a good job dropping that one...that was a dumb move.
Jay (NY)
Did you know that there are 257 exact matches for Ray Gordon Reid in Google. Yeah me neither.
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Buzz, you're fired.
Steve (Syracuse)
Why did DA just run the same play twice?
Joe
Ya but they did it to prevent Norwood from takin it to the house.
Buzzmaster (10:09 PM)
All right, 17-14 Browns at the half. See you back here for the third quarter!
Buzzmaster (10:24 PM)
And we're off and running in the second half.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Let's go Buzz! Football to watch!
Ron Ft Lauderdale, FL
These Browns are for real, Anderson is the QB for now. Brady Quinn will have to sit and watch how its done.
Buzzmaster (10:25 PM)
Eli Manning hits someone in stride, but he's wearing a Browns uniform.
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CG (Waco)
That was a nice pass....to the wrong team.
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
ah..the eli of old...my favorite....
Steve (Syracuse)
How long before New Yorkers are calling for David Carr?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
commercial anyone...that was quick
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Manning might have just reneged on that upper echelon QB label.
Buzzmaster (10:26 PM)
What's the consensus out there on Eli?
Eli Manning (Cleveland)
Well that had an undesirable effect. Never fear, I'll show no emotion and it's like it never happened.
John H (Livingston, NJ)
Manning has to work on his deep ball, thats the only part of his game thats still a little iffy.
Ron Ft Lauderdale, FL
Another pick off, The old Ely is showing up with interceptions.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Eli is good....top 5 no - top 10 probably
Joe (Upstate NY)
How can you say that Eli is a better QB than Peyton and claim to know anything about football?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Eli is still an above average QB, I'd take him over DA anyday.
Buzzmaster (10:27 PM)
Above average isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.
Mike (Ohio)
Eli is fine. Wow, he overthrew one. Plax probably ran the wrong route. Think Neil O'Donnell in that SB and then Andre Hastings throwing him under the bus when Hastings ran the wrong route
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
i miss the eli post game loss inerviews when they ripp him to shreds about looking like he doesnt care.... will be a nice morning refresher on espn
Steve (Syracuse)
I have been waiting for Eli to fall back down to earth...too early to say, but this could be the begining of it.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
The CB loctated the ball much better than Burress on that throw. Everyone will put all the blame on Eli but Burress needs to take some of the blame too for not finding the ball and at the very least preventing an INT.
Tom (Chicago)
I'd put Eli in the tier below Manning and Brady, with guys like Big Ben, and Romo.
Buzzmaster (10:28 PM)
Trickeration gets the Browns inside the 10!
Steve (Syracuse)
Browns look like they want it more.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I'm not praising him, he's an above average game manager. Which is what the Giants want, they have a running game and a D, if Eli doesn't lose it for them they win.
Jay (NY)
Tom where's Brees in all of this? I'd like to put him with Manning and Brady if you don't mind.
Ron Ft Lauderdale, FL
The Browns are kicking Gmen Butt!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
the receiver was holding
Dan (Willoughby)
WOO-HOO! JEROME HARRISON. he guarantees at least one 20+ play per game
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
that Eli is no Gus frerrote...he has a lot to learn..
Corey (Chicago)
Browns Are Definitely Exectuting, But Giants Look Outta Wack
Buzzmaster (10:29 PM)
Testing out your shift key?
Corey Webster
Did anyone else see that hold on me on the sideline? I don't know exactly what happened, but somebody grabbed my back and I'm pretty sure it was illegal...
Vince
This is unbelievable
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Eli has been much better under the pressure of the playoffs than his brother has been.
Buzzmaster (10:30 PM)
Shenanigans.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
That Eli is no Joe Flacco!!! Oh wait....
Connor (Pittsburgh)
HOME RUN CASEY BLAKE DODGERS GO UP 4-3
Buzzmaster (10:30 PM)
Browns stall and have to go for the FG.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
If Daunte Stallworth was Joe Flacco tall he would have caught that...
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
What's the difference between Derek Anderson and Tony Romo? Romo has been mediocre with a few big plays for more years than D.A....
Shiban (Akron,Ohio)
i don't thnk the browns will be putting cousin on burress anymore... everytime they have its turned out bad.. put wright on em
Mike (Lexington, KY)
good game plan for the Browns...quick passes eliminate the pass rush
Buzzmaster (10:31 PM)
They'll work on catching them in the second half of the season.
Jay (NY)
Give Zach a break, last year was the first playoffs he's probably seen. He's like 6 years old.
Joe Flacco (Baltimore, MD)
Alright, guys, I get it. I've been watching Chat Marathon and this has to stop. And I when I say I'm a good football player I don't mean SOCCER!
Buzzmaster (10:33 PM)
A computer and a desire to succeed is all you need. Well, I've got half of that.
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
Very good game for Monday Night football not a blow-out like most people expected.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I think someone has a man crush on Flacco
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Super Bowl XLIII: Texans vs. Rams
Jay (NY)
Joe Flacco is definitely a 2 name poster.
Adam (LA)
This has been a great year for MNF, every game was entertaining
Jeffy T (Kasson, MN)
superbowl never: browns vs cowboys
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Jay, good call.
Joe (Upstate NY)
You can't say anything bad about Mr. Flacco. He comes from a 1 AA college and was thrown into a starting role in the NFL before the season started. Flacco will be a very good QB in a couple year, give him time to adjust. He's not playing for the Blue Hens anymore.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
will the giants offense stop themselves with penalties or a turnover this drive
Buzzmaster (10:36 PM)
We hadn't had a good commerical break in a few minutes.
Josh (Indy)
Where is this silly poll that says Eli is better than Peyton? I need to vote in defiance of it's ridiculousness.
Buzzmaster (10:36 PM)
That would be the front of the site.
John Madden (On the Road)
The object of the game is to score more points than the other team and that is just what the Browns are doing. They are exicuting their game plan and therefore and therefore beating the Giants by 6 in front of this hostile crowd in Cleveland
Alex (Boston)
WHY WONT MY POSTS GO THROUGH!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
you gotta like the High Life commercials
Jay (NY)
All I know is that Joe Flacco threw for only 168 against Hofstra in college. Hofstra. The defense rests without even needing the Chewbacca defense.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I still can't believe they took a Morissey song and turned it into a Football Commercial...
Derek (Baton Rouge)
Where is the poll that says Drew Brees is the best QB in the league?
Buzzmaster (10:38 PM)
Somewhere near you in Louisiana.
Josh (Indy)
Ah, I must be blind. Much obliged.
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Never said Eli was better than Peyton, I said Eli has been better in the pressure of the playoffs.
Buzzmaster (10:38 PM)
I said shenanigans.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
move da chains
Buzzmaster (10:38 PM)
Eli with his Colt McCoy impersonation.
aaron NY
nicee run
Buzzmaster (10:39 PM)
Jacobs keeps the chains moving.
Mr. P (Munster, IN)
Brandon Jacobs is an animal
Jack(PA)
Anyone think that Cleveland will be able to keep this up?
Jay (NY)
Drew Brees is the best QB just for his This Is New Orleans! pregame thing he does.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
This is Chewbacca, what is a 8 foot tall wookie doing on a planet full of 3 foot tall ewoks? It does not make sense!
Joe (Upsate NY)
What's that place with the mozzarella sticks and the goofy stuff on the wall???
Buzzmaster (10:40 PM)
Bennigans?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Would anyone let Brandon Jacobs run over them for 100 dollars?
Buzzmaster (10:41 PM)
Are you kidding? Half of Giants Stadium would pay 100 dollars to be run over.
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
Did the Browns use a magic marker to put the numbers on the helmets?
Jay (NY)
Brandon Jacobs should be in the Legion of Doom he's such an Animal.
aaron NY
Jacobs is a giant!
John H (Livingston, NJ)
I didn't know Eli could run
Jay (NY)
I'd do if for 100 Pounds, that's like a million dollars.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
JT O'Sullivans?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
No, Shenanigans, aww come on Buzz, never seen Super Troopers?
Buzzmaster (10:41 PM)
Its meow awhile.
Danny (Traverse City,MICH)
Nice Sack!
Jeffy T (Kasson, Mn)
any eli goes down, in a pile of self pity
Mike (Lexington, KY)
the giants are just teasing the Browns
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Buzz, just retire already.
John H (Livingston, NJ)
Farva: Shenanigans!
Punt-O-Meter (Cleveland Brown Stadium)
Finally punt number 2.
Alex (Boston)
for $100? yes, yes i would
Mike (Lexington, KY)
5-3 dodgas
Joe
This is why power backs are better than speed backs. Reggie Bush should be a Wide Reciever.
CG (Waco)
The way the economy is now just about everyone would get ran over for $100.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Would you do it for a Klondike bar?
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
This game lacks punts.
Jeffy T (Kasson, Mn)
reggie bush is as much of a running back as colsten was a TE 3 years ago
BJ (Dallas)
They are harping on the fact that Romo broke his finger and will be out for 4 weeks. But another possible problem is that I heard that our punter Mat McBriar broke his foot on that blocked punt and will be out for the year. That is a defensive loss. Heck I think his average is around 45 yards per kick.
Buzzmaster (10:44 PM)
Normally I'd rule that irrelevant, but it was about a punter ...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
you would have more than $100 in medical bills
Joe (Upstate NY)
Everyone loves Klondike bars...
Vince NYC
Who false starts AT HOME??
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
This game lacks flags, o wait no it doesn't
Buzzmaster (10:45 PM)
Flags, this game's contribution to renewable resources.
Ron Ft Lauderdale FL
Way too many penalties tonight
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Buzz, are you saving up for a stairway to heaven?
Josh (Indy)
A belated thanks to yahoo for listing Colston eligible at TE that one year. Helped me win.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
how was that an infraction
Jay (NY)
That punter comment made my nose bleed. Definitely blew up some brain cells.
Non-Cowboys Fans (All over the US)
So what!!! We don't care!!! They stink!
Ryan
who,, really wants to watch punts anyway?? punts are NOT exciting
Buzzmaster (10:46 PM)
You must be new here.
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
That was a fake Zach Rastall. I never posting anything about lack of flags.
Kellen
Romeo has to keep the pressure on with the same play calling and hope anderson doens't blow it. they can't go conservative.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Ryan wasn't here for the Steelers-Ravens game.. the most puntastic game of the year...
Ron Ft Lauderdale FL
What is that, 7 offsides flags on the Browns so far?
BJ (Dallas)
Oops sorry... thought you guys knew about football.
Buzzmaster (10:48 PM)
Yes, because nothing screams football knowledge like the backup punter for a team that isn't playing tonight. Bravo.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
BJ sounds bitter that Brad Johnson is their starting QB...
Joe (Upstate NY)
How about we throw the ball to Braylon here.
CG (Waco)
Have the Giants had a sack yet in this game? I'm kinda shocked that the Browns O-line is holding up and handling their business tonight.
Josh (Indy)
Shut up Cowboys fan.
Marcie (Pittsburgh, PA)
It seems like I should have started braylon over plex.
Fake Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Quite often I make more sense than the real Zach.
rob
the browns are playing smash mouth
Bob
what the heck kinda throw was that
Alex (Boston)
braylon stinks
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I have to give DA some credit, that pass was ill advised, but it was really well thrown... almost catchable.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
YES, ANOTHER FALSE START FOR THE HOME TEAM!
Buzzmaster (10:50 PM)
At least he committed to it.
Tim
imagine that, another false start
Ron Ft Lauderdale FL
Now they have 7 penalties, oh boy talk about shooting your foot
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Where's our Flag-o-meter?
Buzzmaster (10:51 PM)
It broke, like the national debt clock.
Danny (Traverse City,MICH)
Anderson looking like the Anderson of 07'
Buzzmaster (10:51 PM)
Big plays for the Browns on this drive, eating up clock.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
well someone should be committed
shaun
where is the giants defense? oh yeah sundays on fox we need a big BLUE stop
Paul NYC
Was hoping to get Braylon in a buy-low situation and he of course goes off tonight. Is Thomas Jones and Wes Welker a good offer to get him?
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
Kellen Who? Look out for your job Winslow.
Joe (Upstate NY)
Winslow must be getting worried about losing his starting spot
Buzzmaster (10:52 PM)
Should they just start using a graphic for when there isn't a flag on a play?
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
who eats the clock with a 6-point lead in the 3rd quarter?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I heard about that, Buzz, but thank god they are making a bigger debt clock, one that goes to Quadrillion dollars! A new spending level our gov't can reach for!
Danny (Traverse City,MICH)
Cleveland was a lock tonight
Alex (Boston)
8 flags
William (Denver)
Paul that offer would be horrible, wake up man
Matt (Cleveland, OH)
O-line isnt bad, so im not surprised at a lack of sacks... injuries are killing us this year though
Joe
I think we have a TE controvery in Cleveland
Josh (Indy)
I'm positively terrible at the streak for cash thing.
Jay (NY)
Paul obviously thinks Buzz is that guy who thinks Anne Hathaway is hotter than Megan Fox.
Buzzmaster (10:54 PM)
Big third down.
Alan
there is the braylon I know and love.. drop
Buzzmaster (10:54 PM)
Do you go for it here, if it's 4th and 1?
Ed Hochuli (right yet again tonight)
That's a personal foul against Matt in Cleveland for using 'we' in talking about an event he is not involved with. 15 yards.
Buzzmaster (10:55 PM)
Won't matter, first down on the spot.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
or firstt down
John (Cloquet, MN)
That last tackle pushed the Browns to a first down.
Joseph (Stillwater Ok)
Dez Bryant! Why is he not getting noticed more! He is a great reciever and play maker
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
Go for it guys, OOPS another penalty
Jay (NY)
Why don't they just start at 1st and 15 instead? Save us some time.
Danny (Traverse City,MICH)
Ive never seen such a good possesion with so many penalties
Mike (Lexington, KY)
3 points may be enough
Derrick (Detroit)
I wish I could watch the game, but at least this play-by-play is very helpfull
chris (brooklyn)
when are they going to find out to cover the underneath route or do something don't blitz if clevland is constantly going three step drop
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Fundamentals, perhaps the most over used word in football.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
How does a team have this many false starts at home?
John H (Livingston, NJ)
yellow is officialy my least favorite color
Buzzmaster (10:57 PM)
But the Browns keep moving it. Nice 135 yard drive.
McDonald (Alabama)
flag here, flag there, every where a flag flag
John (Cloquet, MN)
Anderson is going to throw for 300 yards on this drive alone.
Buzzmaster (10:58 PM)
End of the third quarter, still 20-14 Browns.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
All these flags are giving DA a lot of practice.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Crennels staff has a better game plan than Coughlin staff tonight
kellen (hurt, Ohio)
seriously... that's what has been wrong with the browns... they need to start 1st and 20
Randall (Nashville)
The refs are going to have to ice down their shoulders after this game!
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
465 yards for the Browns, 250 yards worth of penalties
Matt( Austin, Tx)
How many yards have the Browns gotten on this drive...I mean they move 7 yards forward and then 5 or 10 back in penalties just to make it back up again. So total it has to be over 100
Danny (Traverse City,MICH)
Cleveland Browns is like a good version of the Detroit Lions!!
Buzzmaster (11:00 PM)
That made my head hurt.
Bob (Pittsburgh)
What happened to the Giants defense? No sacks, no turnovers.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
There I go again talking about commercials again..
Buzzmaster (11:00 PM)
TD to Edwards
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
i call shennanigans on the cerberus costume.
CG (Waco)
Wow Edwards is killing the secondary tonight.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Was that Ross on the fall again? Yes it was.... he's hurt.
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
How bout them Browns! If not for all the penalties they would have got to the endzone sooner!
Joe
I would be a whole lot more excited if BE hadn't already won me my fantasy matchup
Mark (CT)
The Giants are showing the 8-8 team they really are... Their Defense is going to give up half a thousand yards.
Buzzmaster (11:02 PM)
Or a tenth of 5,000 yards?
Vince NYC
don't want to give ross an excuse...
Tim (Seattle)
Buzzmaster, would you drop Holt to get Calvin Johnson? Or do you still believe in the guy who had the same stats every year?
Buzzmaster (11:03 PM)
You're talking to the wrong guy. Chris Warren anchored my last fantasy lineup.
Joe (Upstate NY)
THANK YOU BRAYLON!!! That's 26 pts and a victory. Gotta love the 5 bonus points for over 150 yds receiving.
Joel (Iowa)
So much for the NFC East this week.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
it always comes down to fantasy points
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
DA is smiling.... he might have saved his job tonight...
Tom (Chicago)
Looks like my benching of Braylon Edwards has woken him up this week.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Tim I dropped holt in the 2nd week, what are you doing?
Vince NYC
wow espn was salivating at the opportunity to show that interview of B. Edwards
Jon
Horrible game planning and play calling by the Giants.....
Lame
8:16 off the clock.... nice
Joe
Wow. Edwards has more fantasy points this game than the whole season.
Josh (Indy)
How is Calvin Johnson still on waivers? I want to play in your crappy league.
John (Cloquet, MN)
Drop Holt as fast as you can if Megatron is still available in your league.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
at least there is no BCS in the NFL...a few losses are manageable
Buzzmaster (11:04 PM)
Sadly, the Lions wouldn't even get an invite to the Motor City Bowl if there was.
Fairweather Browns Fans (all over here)
Brady who?!?! We don't know why we drafted that guy. Go Anderson!!!!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Polamalu and LT commercial... I love commercials.
chris (brooklyn)
someone please tell me the time of possession i am sure the browns have atleast a 10-15 min adv idk the exact #s though
Jay (NY)
How do you possibly drop Megatron? He even forms like Voltron. Definitely a favorite of the Wu Tang Clan.
Mark (CT)
The Giants defense has not forced a change of possession, when was the last time that happened in an NFL game... Anyone know?
Buzzmaster (11:05 PM)
Quick, someone break out the Elias beacon!
June (Kentucky)
Wouldn't be so fast to drop Holt, look at Braylon...
Kellen (hurt, Ohio)
28:27 to 16:38
John (Cloquet, MN)
That Nike commercial was awesome!!
Buzzmaster (11:06 PM)
Giants crafty in trying to give Manning more room to work with by bobbling the kickoff.
nick(NY)
What are the giants doing
Mike (Lexington, KY)
down with commercials....that is what the clicker is for
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Bradshaw got Reynolds'd... which is getting tackled before the 20 yard line. Named after a friend who tried to make too much happen on kick returns.
Jay (NY)
By the way, I've sent posts in about rappers, samanth woo, baseball, the economy and the Legion of Doom. I'm the most well rounded person alive.
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
Lets see if Eli can make this interesting and bring them down for 6 points
Rob (Storrs)
Coughlin has that look like he's goin to cry like last season.
Vince NYC
Look up the last time the giants lost to the Browns... Its been a LONG TIME
Joe
Long TD run coming up. Just watch
Buzzmaster (11:08 PM)
Yeah, you really don't want to get your blitz picked up by Brandon Jacobs.
Buzzmaster (11:08 PM)
Or maybe you do ... facemask on Jacobs.
Kellen (hurt, Ohio)
yes that's it, down by 13 and lets run after we picked apart the secondary all game.
CG (Waco)
Face mask on the offense?
Buzzmaster (11:09 PM)
3rd and 4 coming for the Giants.
Kellen (hurt, Ohio)
cg does that surprise you in this game???
Joe
Imagine Brandon Jacobs when he played in High Shcool
Buzzmaster (11:09 PM)
Picked up by Steve Smith.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Facemask was on 79, not Jacobs.
Buzzmaster (11:10 PM)
You sure? Jacobs definitely got a hand full of mask.
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
Why don't they Run the Beast Jacobs?
Ed (Minnesota)
What the heck? Steve Smith is on fire tonight! Is Eli desperate to make safe passes?
John H (Livingston, NJ)
i think i might pick smith up for my fantasy team
Joe
Think about it. Jacobs could play OL, TE, RB, LB, DT, or DE
Vince NYC
facemask was on jacobs.. 27
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I think he might have hurt a few kids.
Buzzmaster (11:11 PM)
Giants are moving, but the clock keeps ticking away.
Ron Ft Lauderdale FL
Oh Thats Why!
Amner
don't forget the giants have been down more points against much better teams!! is not over yet
archer
NYG defense is getting pushed around too much tonight. seems they are playing super soft....... buzzmaster, NYG or TBB D/ST for the rest of the year?
Kellen (hurt, Ohio)
big 3rd down
Mike (Lexington, KY)
but can Jacobs punt
Bob (Pittsburgh)
Eli has the best "oh no I'm getting sacked" face.
Buzzmaster (11:12 PM)
Plaxico picks up the first down this time.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
How did he hold onto that...?
Vince NYC
I think he may have ate a few kids.. how else does a man get to that kinda size...
Josh (Indy)
What was that with Braylon and Plax?
Kellen (hurt, Ohio)
A. why is cousins still on Plax, B. Why isn't eli throwing to him non stop/.
John (Cloquet, MN)
The only thing that the Giants are missing in this game is for somebody to catch a pass on top of their helmet.
Joe
Let's see the Giants run the Wildcat....with Jacobs!
Buzzmaster (11:13 PM)
He's a one-man wishbone.
Buzzmaster (11:13 PM)
Ward chewing up yards now, down inside the 20.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
plenty of time left
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
lol Safety Blitz failed.
John H (Livingston, NJ)
Now this is more like it
Mike (Lexington, KY)
the giants are now interested
Joe
Ward. Palleeeeeeeez
Buzzmaster (11:14 PM)
This would have been a nice drive in the first quarter. Now, I'm not so sure a seven minute drive is ideal.
jason
what a wild weekend
Joe
I think that was the only funny thing tonight, buzz
Buzzmaster (11:14 PM)
Especially when it's picked off and run back for a TD ...
Buzzmaster (11:14 PM)
Wow
Vince NYC
Game Over
Josh (Indy)
Bad eli is back.
CG (Waco)
That's the ball game.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Eli blows it
Kellen (hurt, ohio)
What DID I SAY BUZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Peyton Manning (watching)
Wow, even I can tackle better than that
Bob (Pittsburgh)
It's over!
Kellen (hurt, ohio)
I called Pick six...!!!!!!!!!!
CG (Waco)
That's the ball game. Ending it with the Primetime dance.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
huge play
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
ANOTHER PICK OH BOY WHAT A GAME!
Jacob Ray NC
Wow what a game by the Browns.
Buzzmaster (11:16 PM)
Bigger upset: Browns over Giants or Rams over Redskins?
Pete (NC)
I love watching the mighty NFC East lose to the Rams, Cardinals, and Browns. Yeah, they're the cream of the crop alright.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
It doesn't matter how good you are or how good your opponent is, if you turn the ball over as much as the Giants have then you're not going to win.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
This may be a good teaching tool for Coughlin...
Shenanigans Guy (Here)
I call shenanigans on Kellen.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Eli Manning had to have one of those games where he completely bombs. He's like the Danny DeVito if Peyton Manning was Arnold Schwarznegger in the movie Twins. He got the short end of the genetic stick.
Joe (Upstate NY)
So...how are the results of that poll coming along now? Clowns that said Eli is better than Peyton.
John (Calgary, CN)
Best team in the league? How about OVER RATED. Way to go Giants
Josh (Indy)
Rams, no question.
Kellen (hurt, ohio)
Browns over Giants.... Monday night season and many jobs on the brink.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
i think tonight is a bigger upset...Redskins are still suspect to me
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
rams over redskins, we all know the browns have the offense, but the rams are just awful
Buzzmaster (11:18 PM)
And Braylon converts the 2-pointer for a 21 point lead.
Jacob Ray (NC)
I would have to say the Rams over Skins because we all knew that the Browns had it in them but they never proved till tonight. (Go NFC South)
Shane Victorino (rounding the bases)
Buzz, dude...its tied at 5 now
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Victorino 2 run homer again
Eli Manning (Cleveland)
Wow, when I'm bad, I'm REALLY bad, aren't I...
Alex (Ohio)
You're telling me that Peyton never had a bad game?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Braylon Edwards... making up for the first qtr of the season.
Biff Tannen (Hill Valley)
I could have told you the Browns were going to beat the Giants tonight. I just checked my Sports Almanac.
CowboyFan4Eva
This has been a very unpredictable football season so far. But this game takes the cake. An undefeated team losing to a team who has only won one game so far
Ron Ft Lauderdale FL
This Game is a Bigger Win than the Rams
Buzzmaster (11:19 PM)
So does this end the Brady Quinn talk for the rest of the season?
Suits (Bristol)
And y'all were questioning 3 Browns games on MNF?
Davidson, NC
Here we go Clevelandddd... here we go!!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Oh come on Alex, he has had bad games, like the loss to San Diego last year, 6 ints... but he still kept it close.
Josh (Indy)
Victory!!! The Flying Hawaiian!!
Bob (Pittsburgh)
This loss isn't really Eli's fault. The Giants D stopped NO ONE.
Tom (Chicago)
Peyton has had plenty of bad games. Especially in big games in college, which is why he didn't win the Heisman.
John (Cloquet, MN)
Buzz, the ESPN game cast and this chat is faster than my TV. Your post about the 2 point conversion appeared before it happened on my screen.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Brady Quinn will still be called for when DA does bad next week.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I think Crennell and DA had an "in your face" game tonight
Jay (NY)
Ummm no. Once he has another bad game, we'll hear about Quinn again. Of all people not to realize our short term memories, it should be you.
Buzzmaster (11:21 PM)
Wait, what were we talking about?
CG (Waco)
I haven't been to the beginning of this chat marathon but I bet there were like 100 questions about why Brady Quinn wasn't starting this game. I bet that as soon as the Browns lose again the Brady Quinn questions will come back.
Toya(Lake worth, FL)
It'll be a miracle if the GIANTS make a comeback...I stayed up to see them win not lose...
Buzzmaster (11:21 PM)
Giants still running ...
Ron (Ft Lauderdale, FL)
All of the Quinn lovers need to step back Anderson is for real
Fairweather Browns Fans (Still here)
We love DA!!!! Until he screws up again!!! Quick, anyone have any milk bones?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
CG, are they Wacko for Flacco in Waco?
Aaron (d-town)
go to sleep toya it aint happenin
Joe
Why isn't Jacobs still running?
Buzzmaster (11:23 PM)
Ward's been more effective between the 20s tonight.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
The Giants offense has been pretty good but INT's are killers
Colin (New York, NY)
Manning hasn't looked this bad since the vikings last year. This is absurd. But our defense has looked even worse this game.
Joe
Ward again!!!!!!!!!
Sami
Ny Giants wow they are done
Pete (NC)
Bigger gain on the day: Dow Jones stock or DA's?
Josh (Indy)
Anderson is only "for real" insomuchas he's alive. He is not a quality NFL QB.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
fairweather brown fan seems like a bitter giant fan in disguise.
Joe (Upstate NY)
I knew i stashed DA on my bench for some reason...Do I sell Braylon after this week?
Ross G
This is crazy. They need to be brought back down. Nice scheme by browns though
Buzzmaster (11:24 PM)
How do you nearly get a delay of game down 21?
Patrck (Pittsburgh)
Clearly, this was a trap game for the G-men. Hopefully PGH won't make the same mistake.
jason
i dont know what to say
Justin (Ohio)
Most Browns fans like DA fine but were questioning whether or not he was worth $24 million in the offseason. A reasonable question if you ask me.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Mohawked Shaun Rodgers scares the crap out of me.
Jay (NY)
Both the Dow Jones and DA's gains will be shortlived and will have a terrible downturn by next week.
Buzzmaster (11:25 PM)
7-5 Phillies
Josh (Indy)
Pinch hit HR for Mr. Professional, Matt Stairs.
Matt Stairs (rounding the bases)
7-5 now Buzz. I just CRUSHED one
CG (Waco)
Waco is wakko Brendan but not for Flacco from what I see here.
Steve Spagnoulo
Hey, everyone just checking in to see what the score is in the Giants game.. Yeah.. I stayed home tonight. It was parent teacher night.
Kellen (Hurt, OH)
CG cleveland is the backup Qb bandwagon capitol of the world, Couch behind detmer, holcomb behind couch, frye behind garcia and dilfer, anderson behind frye, and now quinn behind anderson.
Pete (NC)
The Saw V trailer just said "the game has just begun." no, the game was over when eli threw the ball.
Ed (Mountainside, NJ)
Anyone noticed how uninterested Burress has been tonite? He has given up on a number of routes, and did not fight to prevent the first pick. Is he rusty, or pissed off?
Cody (OH)
Even with 10+ penalties, the browns only enemy is themselves!! Go browns, finish it out!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Kellen, for the most profound Browns/irrelevent comment of the night.
Jay (NY)
What...the....I swear I hate the Phillies so much.
Buzzmaster (11:27 PM)
Do the Giants even onside kick if they score here? Not much sense of urgency.
Tom (Chicago)
Ed, Burress is always like that.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Manning's an idiot. Two straight passes for a total of one yard. He would have been better off throwing them both into the ground to save time. All he's done is waste time off the clock.
Tony (Akron,OH)
With the way he's dominated all year and especially tonight, is Joe Thomas the best offensive tackle in the NFL??
Buzzmaster (11:28 PM)
Not that it matters when they don't score.
Jacob Ray (NC)
After this weekend which is better NFC South or NFC East?
Buzzmaster (11:28 PM)
Fair question. What say you?
Peyton Manning (watching)
Yep, looks like I'm the only Manning who can pull off a comeback from 3 scores down. Done it twice actually.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
East easily...so they had a bad weekend
Alex (Ohio)
What are the Giants doing? Running the ball on downs 1-3 in the redzone watching the clock tick down
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Washington beat the Saints. I think that's the only head to head matchup between NFC South teams so it's hard to say.
Tom (Chicago)
I'd say the East. Do any of the teams in the South really seems like SB contenders?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Buzz, did you just turn into Bill O'reilly with that What Say You? comment?
Hugh St. Augustine
what the heck is happening to the NFC east??? they all look terrible this week. Dont count the Philly win in SF as a good win, they shoul;d have stomped them.....so again...WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE NFC EAST, go cards.
Adam (LA)
How about the AFC South
New York Sports
Well, this weekend is a total wash - the Eagles gain a game on the Giants and the Phillies look poised to go to the Super Bowl, absolutely terrible.
Pete (NC)
my (biased) answer is nfc south.
Tyler NY
Man we sucked tonight and this league now is wide open oh well
kent (texas)
giants will be ok.. no team has ever been completly undefeated.. just ask the giants
Buzzmaster (11:31 PM)
And by no team, you mean the 72 Dolphins.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
You have to give the Browns credit...they came to play tonight...good execution and game plan
chris (brooklyn)
browns punched the giants in the mouth now the giants got to move on from this and punch back next week vs San Fran
CG (Waco)
I still the two wild cards are coming from the NFC East so I think they're better than the NFC South (this coming from a Falcons fan).
Buzzmaster (11:32 PM)
Jamal Lewis pounds for a first down, and that should do it.
Ed (Mountainside, NJ)
Truly horrible clock management. Eli certainly registered his opinion: "Let's get this thing over with right now"
Alex (Ohio)
Why are the browns fans chanting "OVERRATED"? When they are the team that is OVERRATED.
Mercury Morris (undefeated Pop.1)
Way to represent Buzz.
Jeff B. - Shameless Homer for the Cowboys
Thank you, Cleveland!!!!!!!!!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
OMG clock managment complaints...they were down 21 points....puhleeez
Joe (Upstate NY)
Thank you Browns, Rams, Cardinals. You have know let my Eagles back into the NFC East race.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Buzz...who plays next MNF game
Buzzmaster (11:35 PM)
That's the Broncos at the Patriots.
Jay (NY)
Wait..are we talking about clock management problems without mentioning Herm Edwards? I mean I know he has nothing to do with this game but pay some respect to the master.
Josh (Indy)
Matt Stairs has 28 career stolen bases. Now that's a shocker.
Ed (Mountainside, NJ)
No, Mike, they were down 2 scores before the pick 6. Pay attention.
Buzzmaster (11:36 PM)
And time for the victory formation in Cleveland.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Shirts with random triangles!
Kevin, Fort Bragg NC
The real winners tonight are the Eagles. All three NFC East Teams lost to lesser teams, and the Eagles picked up a much needed game.
Aaron (d-town)
GO BRONCOS!!
Jim Mora (nowhere)
I like Triangles
Buzzmaster (11:37 PM)
All right, we'll see you back here next week!
