Cannon is the captain of the Gears of War professional gaming team, Infinity. "Genetix" and Infinity are the 2007 Gears of War National Champions and look to win back-to-back titles next month in the 2008 MLG Championships in Las Vegas. A talented and consistent competitor, Genetix has won five competitions in two seasons and is considered one of the most aggressive players on the circuit.

We've Genetix!
Tyler Holaric (Hudson, Illinois)
Does your team actually practice much outside of events?
Genetix (4:00 PM)
Usually we play a few hours every day, regardless of the event. We want to keep our skills fresh.
Dominic: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Whats your favorite weapon?
Genetix (4:00 PM)
My favorite weapon is probably the shotgun. There is no better feeling than beating someone one on one in a shotgun fight.
Joe, Ohio
In your opinion, how has the game changed since the beginning of Gears to now? What teams have emerged and what teams have diminished?
Genetix (4:01 PM)
When Gears first came out it was more of a individual skills based game. But now that players have gotten better, it's turned more into a teamwork based game.
Minneapolis Minnesota
How do you play so many hours a day?
Genetix (4:02 PM)
It varies. After each event, I usually take about 2 weeks off. As the events get closer, probably 5-6 hours a day. But normally, about 2-3 hours per day.
Joaquin, Mississipi
Someone that told me you would be playing Rainbow Six 2. Is that true?
Genetix (4:02 PM)
Yes, I would. I have a long history in the Rainbow series. If I were not playing Gears, I would definitely be playing Rainbow.
Tyler(Lancaster, Pennsylvania)
Is there anything in GOW that people do that makes you angry or do you just accept that people simply use the features that the game provides.
Genetix (4:03 PM)
Nothing really gets me angry. If it's in the game, and people use it, really doesn't get me mad. It's people that use glitches and stuff that would get me mad.
WaXeD187
How did you start out gaming? What was your first game, and was you as good at it as you are on Gears? What was your first Gears Of War team?
Genetix (4:04 PM)
When I was 5 ot 6, I got Nintendo 64 for Christmas. The first competitive game I played was the Rainbow series on Game Battles.
Brad Lampman Fonthill Ontario
when did you realize that you had a good chance of going pro in gears?
Genetix (4:05 PM)
When I first started playing, I wasn't really taking it that serious. Then my team started winning online tournaments. Then MLG Meadowlands wasn't that far from me, so we played and we finished third. That's when I realized I could do well in this.
Ryan Marcus Boca Raton, FL
What was your most exciting moment in Gears, whether during the early gamebattles, or online tournaments, or at MLG?
Genetix (4:06 PM)
Probably winning the MLG national championships last season. To win an event that big is a huge accomplishment and only a few people can do that.
Henry (Buffalo)
What is it like being a pro and having alot of publicity around you?
Genetix (4:07 PM)
It's sort of surreal at first. I used to play games for the fun of it. now it's taken to another level and I have fans. I love the fans. It just takes it to another atmosphere.
John, Rochester NY
How do you feel to the fact that Gears of War has taken a back seat to Halo 3 on the Circuit?
Genetix (4:08 PM)
It doesn't really bother me. Halo 3 is clearly the bigger game. We just have to stick with Gears and maybe one day we can have a community as big as Gears is now.
Matt, Madison Wisconsin
What are Infinity's plans for Gears 2?
Genetix (4:08 PM)
As of now, we're looking to come into national championships and take it by storm and move right into Gears 2. Hopefully we can have the same type of success in Gears 2.
Jake (Philly)
Outside of gaming what do you like to do?
Genetix (4:09 PM)
Lately, I've been spending a lot of time with my girlfriend and stuff with school. but I'm definitely a big sports guy. I am definitely looking forward to the World Series with the Phillies in it.
Joe, NY
What's it like winning a tournament? What was it like winning Dallas?
Genetix (4:10 PM)
Any time you win an MLG event, it's amazing. The feeling is amazing. Winning Dallas was great. The fans were against us. We had the roster change right before the event, so it was amazing winning the event.
Tanner Evansville, Indiana
After Vegas, will you be dropping your career in Gears of War for a chance to be a professional Saint's Row 2 player?
Genetix (4:11 PM)
Probably not. Even though I do like playing Saint's Row, I don't think it has much of a competitive future.
Bobby Boucher louisiana
What do you think your chances are of winning now that fragD has their main roster in vegas and that you only beat retalliation because prison choked
Genetix (4:12 PM)
I am still very confident in my team. I think they'll be a tougher team than in Dallas, but we matched up pretty well against them in Toronto, and I think if we play our game we can beat them pretty convincingly.
Genetix (4:12 PM)
Thanks for all the support. We'll look to be good in Vegas for everyone.
