WHY IS STEWART NOT GONNA HAVE A CHANCETO WIN THE CHASE
Jayski (12:56 PM)
Doubtful, it not so much the points he has to make up, but he needs all seven drivers in front of him to do bad so he can leap frog all of them. If Stewart won all 4 remaining races and led the most laps, he would end up with 6515 points and would need Johnson to finish each of the remaining 4 races no better then 17th, for Biffle and Burton, no better the 6th and so on. Johnson is averaging a 4th place finish in the chase, Biffle an 8th, Stewart is averaging 16.2 and has one top 5, the win at Talladega.

Thank you for your service... The wife and I both have 41 years combined AF. I can't get anything out of the 41 team when I visit their shop. They say no new drivers have come through the door and they are meeting "off campus." Any chance Scotty Riggs goes there? I know Scott's spotter has interviewed at Penske and DEI, but not at Ganasi.
Jayski (12:57 PM)
Have heard little about the #41 team except they have a sponsor in Target. Looks like crew chief Donnie Wingo is headed to Roush's #26 team and McMurray. Drivers I have heard rumored to the #41 ride include Allmendinger, Riggs, Mayfield, Yeley and Carpentier and knowing Ganassi he has some other drivers in mind we have not heard rumored there. Folks I know within the team, say they have no idea what Chip is gonna do, Target has a huge say in this. Plus if Ganassi merges or sells the team, all bets are off.

Jay,Do you know where Derrike Cope is housing his race teams at? I know he use to live in Huntersville and maybe still does. I'd like to go visit.
Jayski (12:58 PM)
Have no idea where his shop is or where is working on his teams, have no contact info about the team
Gary (Phoenix)
Are we witnessing one of the best runs we've ever seen in NASCAR In JJ?
Jayski (1:00 PM)
best since Cale in the late 70's and Gordon in the late 90's
Mel (Houston TX)
Any word on whether Johnson has signed the lifetime deal yet with Hendrick? Silly season (2009 edition) is just around the corner.
Jayski (1:05 PM)
have not heard anything since he, Chad and Lowe's signed up thru 2010, so he'll be out of any silly season mix until sometime in 2010
Will (Denver)
What stops JJ from winning this whole thing?
Jayski (1:06 PM)
bad motors, wrecks, quits the sport, etc
Glenn (NJ)
If Jimmie wins this, should he be ranked in the top 10, top 5 of drivers all-time?
Jayski (1:07 PM)
i guess so if you are in to rankings, but i'd say he pretty much is in the top 10 by now
Jake (orlando, FL)
If there were to be a DEI Petty merger, being that both organizations are committed to their own manufacturer, would they become Chevy or Dodge?
Jayski (1:08 PM)
most rumors seem to point toward it going to Chevy, much depends on if Dodge leave the sport or merges with Chevy/GM. DEI/Petty merger seems a little odd to me, but weirder things have happened
Paul (Pa.)
How poorly would Jimmie have to do in the next four races to lose the title?
Jayski (1:12 PM)
he is averaging a 4th now, if he does that, nothing Biffle can do for Johnson to lose it. Biffle, Burton or Edwards would have to really do well and Johnson would need to have a few runs in the 20's to lose it
Rickey (Chicago)
How tough of a time will Stewart have next year in being both driver and owner?
Jayski (1:12 PM)
Think he will do fine, he is co-owner and the past owners are in place, plus he is hiring folks to run it, he should do just fine
BB (Mpls)
Hearing anything about Gordon making changes to team for next year?...specifically car chief or Latarte? Is this year the start of a gradual decline to the end of his career ala DW?
Jayski (1:16 PM)
Have heard no changes past the paint scheme, Gordon has shown nothing but support for Steve Letarte. Gordon is only 37, Earnhardt was 42 and 43 when he won his last two championships, DW was 38 when he won his last one
Jake (orlando, FL)
Do you think DEI would be the majority owner in the case of a merger?
Jayski (1:16 PM)
no idea how it would work, if it really happens
JD (Boston)
With all chasers starting up front- there is little opportunity for a major shakeup at a track like Martinsville (unless theres a crash) do you think there should be alternative qualifying rules to shake up the field more?
Jayski (1:18 PM)
all of them starting up front, limits trouble for sure, they have has dozens of different formats, no idea which would would be best, I just adapt to the rules, do not worry bout them, but would like to see Sat qualifying if Friday is a wash out, 9 cancels in 32 races is too many
Chad (Cascade,MD)
Jeff going to win this weekend?
Jayski (1:19 PM)
Both Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton have a good shot to win, they both run well at AMS, Jeff Green has no chance at all
Pete C (Newark DE)
Barring a total meltdowna by JJ, is the Chase pretty much over with another top 10 finish in the next two races.
Jayski (1:20 PM)
ok
Pete C (Newark DE)
Does Jeff Burton have a chance to steal the chase point lead from JJ. Or is the car just not good enough to catch the Lowes 48?
Jayski (1:21 PM)
sure does, if Johnson finishes 43rd and Burton wins, Burton leaves Atlanta with a 9 point lead
jake (orlando, FL)
Do you know any of the drivers or are you more focused on just information?
Jayski (1:22 PM)
i have met many of the drivers and I am focused on information and posting what I find and hear
Brian (Swartz Creek)
Im thinking no we are not, might have to resort to the early years of Richard tty for a better run then JJ.
Jayski (1:27 PM)
na, just have to look at Gordon in the late 90's, Dale Sr in 86,87,90,91, DW from 81-85 and Cale was the man 76-79
JD (Boston)
NASCAR is not looking at reducing field sizes, but what chance is there any of the series has trouble filling fields with sponsor issues on the horizon?
Jayski (1:28 PM)
doubt they will have any problems getting 43 to all the races, if all these teams merge, the car count will be close to the same, smaller teams will come back if they see a chance of making the field
Pete C (Newark DE)
Jay, what does Kyle Busch do from here? Ending the season on such a down note can't be good going into next season, with Smoke gone will there be more focus on the #18 car at Gibbs?
Jayski (1:31 PM)
He had a tough Chase, he'll do fine in 2009, stuff happens. Have heard of no problems on the team and he feels he has a lot to prove, he had a bad chase in 2006 finished last in it and bounced back last year just fine
RYR
Any news on Yates sponsorship?
Jayski (1:31 PM)
nope
Jayski (1:32 PM)
well, time is up and no more questions, have a great week and lets hope for a good race at AMS
