Mark Garrow (10:31 AM)
Good morning everyone..Let's get the partaaayyyyy started!
Jake ( Ft.Worth, TX )
Mark got a few questions for the all knowing NASCAR guy ! pick one out of 31,20,48 - - - pick two out of 1,9,8,6 - - - pick one out of 10 and 44. My friends say your the with the inside info. Thanks again !
Mark Garrow (10:33 AM)
Jake..I think 20 can outrun 48 today..but how do you bet against 48, who's averaging a fourth place finish in the first six Chase races...8 and 6 are the picks in the other category..that is more clear cut...and then go with the 44...he's very good and 10 is struggling.
Big Dog MI
Here I go again 48 or 99 Pick two of the four 18,16,88,41. Last but not the least 44 or 10 which I hope has AJ behind the wheel. Also is the number 8 running the next two weeks?? Thanks
Mark Garrow (10:34 AM)
Today is go wtih 99...18 and 16 are the picks in category two..but 88 is really good too..44 is easy pick over 10...and yes Martin is in the 8 car next week at Texas.
BOWLES: WICHITA FALLS, TX
WHAT LOOKS BETTER? 48,99,16,1,5 OR 48,99,17,8,1
Mark Garrow (10:35 AM)
Both teams feel pretty solid..but I think the second one scores a little better...
Ken (Hendersonville, NC)
Mark: From looking at the practice speeds today, it looks like Edwards and Harvick may be he class of the field. I only have 1 trade left per week in the TSN game and need your opinion. Would you trade Gordon for Edwards (already have Harvick, Tony and Jimmie) or would you trade Jammie Mac for either Vickers, Ragan or Martin or stay the same with Gordon and Jammie Mac? I am strongly thinking about using Martin since he is racing the rest of the year, but he doesn?t look that strong today and his last 2 finished at Atlanta are 22nd and 43rd. When considering your answer please consider I only have one trade left per race.
Mark Garrow (10:38 AM)
Edwards is a potential winner..Gordon is top-10 material...Jamie Mac for Martin or Ragan would be an improvement too..Martin will not run Phoenix so consider that..The place to do is where you think you need the most improvement. Edwards should be good for the rest of the season...All Roush cars in pretty good shape so maybe McMurray doesn't hurt you that bad.
shredd103 (Buffalo,NY)
Hey Guru,I'm Weighing out a few options.Which team do you like best? a)48,16,20,5,10 b)48,31,16,5,10 or c)48,16,6,8,10. Is Allmendinger a good budget buy this week? If not who is?Thanks for all the help!
Mark Garrow (10:40 AM)
Get rid of the 10 on any team..among my budget picks the best are 44,15,41, and 21..anything with the 10 in it today will cost you big time..48,16,6, and 8 probably your best foursome..
Paperboy (Buffalo, NY)
Guru I need your help the Paperboy has to deliver! I need a win this week. which team is better? 1. 99,18,24,8,21 or 2. 99,29,17,8,15
Mark Garrow (10:41 AM)
I like the 15 a little bit better than 21..but Elliott is safer play to get to the end of the race trouble free..best foursome is 99,29,17, and 8.
Ed (Petersburg, WV)
Hey Guru, could you please give me several drivers in your "second tier" to really watch out for at the race in Atlanta? I'm not sure how I want to structure my team yet, so any more in depth info on second tier drivers would be appreciated.
Mark Garrow (10:42 AM)
Second tier drivers today 29,31,07,2,24,8,1,6,19
Kevin St Clair Shores,MI
Mark need 1. 48 or 20. need 2. 5,6,18,43. Need 1. 10 or 44. I can use j.j 3 more times, but I think now is the time to use him while he is on a hot streak.
Mark Garrow (10:43 AM)
20 has a shot to outrun 48, but don't know how you can trade Johnson, who may not win but he's going to finish somewhere near the top..18 and 6..44..
TIN CUP (SV, CA)
Hi, MG!Like many of us back at Infinion (Thank you, Matt Kenseth) I dropped Biffle and Ragan last week and am paying for it (literally) with my lineup strategies this week going forward. So, a little help with these teams, if you please. Thanks as always and good luck!48, 16, 8, 6, 1048, 16, 17, 6, 1048, 24, (17 or 8 or 6), 83, 1048, 24, 16, 9, 1048, 99, 24, 26, 10
Mark Garrow (10:45 AM)
Again Tin Cup..any team with the 10 on it today I'm pretty confident won't be happy...So I really think you need to re-think your choices.
Art (Myrtle Beach)
Mark you do a great job. I need help. Pick 1 - 99 or 18. Pick 2 - 2-5-6-41 Pick 1 - 10(AJ)-77-21-78-96 Thanks
Mark Garrow (10:46 AM)
99...2 and 6...21
Joey Logano (Sol-town, USA)
How come "rain drops keep fallin' on my head"?
Mark Garrow (10:47 AM)
What's the matter "Sliced Bread"...a little soggy?
willburr (california)
Hey Mark! Who do you like at AMS? The 24 or the 20? And if you had to, pick two out of these four: 6, 8, 16, 88. Thanks for the great work!
Mark Garrow (10:47 AM)
20...16 and 88..
Incognito (The Garage!)
Thanks for all of the help Guru! Feel like I need to get back on the Roush wagon. Which team do you like: 48-16-17-8-10 or 48-99-17-8-01 ? Got 48 locked in at original chase price.
Mark Garrow (10:49 AM)
I'd say you're second team is a little bit better..but I might consider Bill Elliott for 01..
Bill, DE
Hey Mark, Denny Hamlin looked decent in practice, but hasn't historically done much here - what are his chances for a Top 8? Please rank the following: 83, 44,8,9,84,15. Thanks.
Mark Garrow (10:50 AM)
Hamlin's not happy with the balance of his car so I'm not sure he has a very good chance to finish top-8...10th to 15th maybe..8,44,83,15,9,84
Jim (Baltimore)
The 2 actually looked pretty good in practice on Saturday. Couple that with a pretty good run at Lowe's and the fact that his last 4 finishes here are 111,8,11, and 14. Any chance he runs top 10 today or is it just not Busch's year and we are better off staying away?
Mark Garrow (10:51 AM)
No, I think Kurt Busch is a good choice today to run top-10..especially for the SCC with a price under 18.
Mike ( Buffalo)
Everybody looked loose loose loose in practice yesterday. What drivers does this benefit and whom do we stay away from (I want someone who can bring it home in one piece) from the following....99,18,88,6,31,2. Thanks Mark
Mark Garrow (10:52 AM)
Loose race car certainly plays to the strength of 99 and 18...all six of the drivers you listed though are no worse than top-10 potential.
Mike Provo, UT
OK Mark, so far so good this year. But this one is hard. Which team? 48-17-24-6-5, or 48-99-24-5-44 or 48-18-24-1-5?
Mark Garrow (10:54 AM)
Tough call..but slight edge to the first team.48 and 17 potential top-five..24 potential top-10 as well as 6..5 is top-15...but have got to tell you it was tough call over the second team because the 44 is so good.
Joe Knoxville TN
Hey Guru Help at race and need to make pics long distance 48-11-17-1-44 or 99-18-17-2-44 Which you like better....
Mark Garrow (10:55 AM)
I like that second team all five could run top-10..Not sure how good 11 can run so that's what turned me off team one..plus the 2 should outrun the 1.
JAG (Plainview, MN)
Guru Garrow... I need to know the two strongest cars outta this line-up: 9,18,6 and 8? Thanks, JAG
Mark Garrow (10:57 AM)
18 is definitely one..9 is so-so..so he's out..8 and 6 pretty close..I'll lean towards the 8 because he's run top-10 here so many times.
Jeff Burton (Garage)
Hey Mark You gonna give ma any luv today?
Mark Garrow (10:58 AM)
We go way back man..I always give you at least a little love...I can see you running top-10..but just don't see top-five dude.
Stacy, Canyon Lake, tx
Good Morning Mr Mark,,, How do you think the supension will affect MR Vickers
Mark Garrow (10:58 AM)
It can't help and that makes him a big question mark today.
Mark Garrow (10:59 AM)
Okay..since I have to broadcast the race today on PRN, hope you can listen, so I can't go overtime like I normally do so I'm going to take a minute and post crew chief notes now.
Mark Garrow (11:00 AM)
RCR, Scott Miller, Crew Chief Jeff Burton...He says 90% of the field is scratching their ontrying to make their cars drive more "sensibly"...He said the right front tire is a littlebetter than what they had in the spring, but cars still don't drive all that good...Thinksthey can run top-10.
Mark Garrow (11:01 AM)
Joe Gibbs Racing, Steve Addington, Crew Chief Kyle Busch...They thought that after happy hourthey had top-five car. Things we'll see same type of race as we did the last time with thecars getting really loose at the end of a long run...He would rank the Gibbs car 18-20-11..Tony is pretty happy with his car but Hamlin not happy with the balance of his Toyota...Thoughtthree other top cars today are 99-17-2...
Mark Garrow (11:01 AM)
Penske Racing, Pat Tryson, Crew Chief Kurt Busch...He thinks they are potential top-10..Thought they were not super fast at the beginning of a run but 20 laps into the run they were prettygood..He thought the 12 was in decent shape and Hornish wasn't bad either and this is where hehad a pretty good run earlier this year.
Mark Garrow (11:01 AM)
Wood Brothers, Lennie Wood, Co-owner Bill Elliott...He thinks they can run 15th to 20th today. It's a brand new car and Bill thinks its running pretty well...He says crew chief David Hyderhas done a good job getting their cars closer to what everybody else is running..Thinks the 99,48 and 18 are best cars today.
Mark Garrow (11:01 AM)
RCR, Todd Berrier, Crew Chief Kevin Harvick...He's very happy with their car...After tryingsomething different chassis-wise at Charlotte, they have gone back to what they ran here inthe spring...Thinks they are top-10 again like the spring and likes the 99,17,16,20 and 44.
Mark Garrow (11:02 AM)
Ganassi Racing, Donnie Wingo, Crew Chief Reed Sorenson...He thinks they are going to be okay, but they are fighting to get more grip...Made some small changes and thinks they might be ableto get to 15th...Said that teammate Montoya very fast at the start of a run , but was strugglinga little bit towards the end...He liked the 99 and 17.
Mark Garrow (11:02 AM)
Yates Racing, Cully Barraclough, Crew Chief David Gilliland...Cully said David believes the car felt okay and is pretty decent. The car is losing grip through the run and they are preparing for that as they learned from the spring race here. They have a 20th to 25th place car going into the race with the goal of finishing in the top 15. Travis Kvpial is in the same situation even though he was one of the drivers who did the tire test hereat Atlanta. The tire Travis liked in the test was not the one Goodyear broughtthis weekend. His favorites are the 99, 18, 31, and 20. He says look for guys who can drive a very loose racecar well.
Mark Garrow (11:02 AM)
Petty Enterprises, Jeff Meandering, Crew Chief Bobby Labonte...Labonte was 40th in happy hour practice but Jeff says the car will runbetter in the race. He thinks they are a top 20 car going into the racewith 10th to 15th potential. His favorites are the Roush cars and JimmieJohnson.
Mark Garrow (11:02 AM)
DEI, Tony Gibson, Crew Chief Mark Martin...Gibson believes they havea top five car as Martin is very happy with the 8 car. Look for Martin to runthe low line all day as that is where their car is the fastest. Paul Menard wassecond in happy hour and Gibson says he is for real. While the 15 is not a winning car Gibson thinks he could wind up in the top 10. Menard ran his first race here and came home 8th. Martin Truex Junior should be okay and has top 10 potential. Regan Smith is fair and has a top 20 car. Gibsons favoritesare the 99 and 20 with the 15 and 6 as his top darkhorses.
Mark Garrow (11:02 AM)
Gillett-Evernham Motorsports, Kenny Francis, Crew Chief Kasey Kahne...Francis is not too sure how good a car they have but would say they are betweena top 15 and top 20 to start as they averaged 17th on the lap-tracker chart. Kaseysaid the car was very loose and Francis is not sure how to help it. However, he isnot too worried about it as Kasey has a good feel for this track. AJ Allmendinger isstruggling quite a bit. We also talked with Rodney Childers, Crew Chief for ElliottSadler who was a bit more optimistic about the 19 car. Sadlers car is not loosebut a bit tight in the middle of the corners. Still, Childers feels like they have a potential top 10 car as Sadler likes this track a lot.
Mark Garrow (11:03 AM)
Hendrick Motorsports, Tony Eury Jr, Crew Chief Dale Earnhardt Jr...Tony wasvery confident that they have a top five car. Dale Jr will run the high line all day andis very happy with his car. Eury believes Jimmie Johnson also has a top five careven though they had been struggling a little in practice...as near the end of happy hourthey seemed to have found a combination that worked well. Jeff Gordon is fighting a loose condition and they are making some minor changes this morning but Eury saysthey have a top 10 car. Casey Mears is decent as his car is loose as well, but Mearslikes a tight car and enjoys sawing on the wheel to make it turn. Even so, Eury saysMears is a top 15 car going in. Tonys favorites are the 99, 88, 48 and he thought the 29 would be good but could not say for sure.
Mark Garrow (11:03 AM)
Michael Waltrip Racing, Ryan Pemberton, Crew Chief David Reutimann. The 44 of David Reutimann is good today. Ryan feels like they can have a top 10 run today. Other Crew Chiefs said that the 44 could be a dark horse today. They were very good in happy hour yesterday. The 55 of Michael Waltrip is not too strong, and Marcos Ambrose, the third MWR teammate, is in a learning mode today trying to get seat time for next year. Ryan Pemberton said the 99, 48, 07, 88 and 42 look good for today.

Bill Davis Racing, Tommy Baldwin Jr., Crew Chief Dave Blaney. The 22 car is horrible today. They have struggled all weekend. Tommy said that if they finish, a top 25 would be a welcome gift. The 99 and 44 look good for today.
Mark Garrow (11:03 AM)
Roush Fenway Racing, Jimmy Fennig, Crew Chief for David Ragan. In happy hour yesterday, the 6 car was a little free. Jimmy is making sure that they build enough adjustability in the car for 500 miles. He feels that they are good for a top 10 finish. The other Roush Fenway cars are strong as well, with the 99 and 16 leading the way. The 17 and 26 should be strong as well. Jimmy also said that the 48 of Jimmie Johnson and the 43 of Bobby Labonte look good as well.
Mark Garrow (11:07 AM)
Am readjusting my top picks and second tier...My top six picks...99,18,17,16,48, and 20.Next tier..88,8,29,31,24,2,1,6,19,07..Best budget picks...44,5,21,15, and 41 and these guys are ranked in order.
Linda Billings, MT
Which to take? 17 or 29?44 or 26?thanks Mark
Mark Garrow (11:08 AM)
29 is good, but I think 17 is a little better..and I'll take the 44 over 26.
Gumby (ATL)
Going to be at the race to see how great the drivers you help me pick do in person! Based on practice / crew chatter / your pure genius - rank these guys: 99, 48, 18, 6, 1, 5, 44, Allmendingerthanks Guru
Mark Garrow (11:09 AM)
99,18,48,6,44,1,5...all should be in pretty good shape.
Rob (Marietta, GA)
Good morning Mark!My questions this week:I need to pick 2 of 6, 8 and 18. Also I won't be able to use 8 or 18 again for the rest of the year if I go with them this week.10 or 47?
Mark Garrow (11:10 AM)
18 and 8..but you can use the 6 for either one and not be hurt too bad..as for 10 and 47 ..remember the commercials on drug use? Just say no!...but if you have to..10 should be a little bit better.
BUTTERNUTTS Lenoir NC
Guru-ski,You got any insight towards some of these prima-donna's Atlanta attitudes (one's who have drama in their life or are whining lately). For example is the the 2 capable of putting his "getting out of his contract status" on hold enough to have a good run? Can the 18 quit whining enough to come to the track with a positive attitude? What can we expect?
Mark Garrow (11:11 AM)
2 will run top-10..18 can run top-five..both should be in pretty good shape today...20 could run top-five today and is a little bit better than 11.
Mark Garrow (11:11 AM)

Rob (Marietta, GA)
How does the 42 look? Great average speed but not a lot of laps run.
Mark Garrow (11:12 AM)
I think his teammate Sorenson will run a little better today than he will and has a cheaper price.

Mark, thanks for all you do! What are your thoughts on the 24, 88, and 20 today? They didn't look so well in practice. What do you think? Thanks!
Mark Garrow (11:15 AM)
20 and 88 have a shot to run top-five..24 is more like a top-10.
pj in duluth,mn
please rank these budget picks, 2,5,19,41
Mark Garrow (11:16 AM)
I'd do it just like you had it..2,5,19, and 41..and believe it or not..no real bow wow in the group..but 2 is clearly the best of the bunch.
trey (raleigh,nc)
Which pair should I go with? (99 and 2) or (20 and 8)
Mark Garrow (11:17 AM)
Close call..but 99 winner with 2 top-10..over 20 top-five and 8 top-10...
losing in MN
current team 42,5,83,26,24,6,20,88 any suggestions for improvement
Mark Garrow (11:18 AM)
you should be able to improve by dropping 42, 83, and 26..think along those lines in improving those picks becasue 88,20,6.24 and 5 are pretty solid..

Who's going to finish better today... the 44 or 5?
Mark Garrow (11:19 AM)
I think that will be the 44..He's really good..Mears won't be a slug because he should finish top-15..but Reutimann is really stout.
Lee(detroit, MI)
all seeing and all knowing guru, please pick the best out of these 3 groups if you can. 48 or 99? 15 or 44? and 2 of these here 4: ragan, Biff, Kyle Busch and Jr. I am thinking 99-18-88-44 myself, how about you?
Mark Garrow (11:20 AM)
99..44..Bif and Busch..88 is really good and won't hurt you if you decide to go that way.

Good morning Mark--I think I have a great team today, just wonder what you think. 20--11--24--17--19--Have a great day!!!!
Mark Garrow (11:24 AM)
That's a different direction than most people would go..but on paper that's not bad..19 and 24 have to come through for you..but I've also got to be honest 11 scares me a little bit today.
Greg (Des Moines, IA)
Hey Guru! Which team do you like better today...99,29,17,8,44 or 20,29,17,2,8? Thanks!
Mark Garrow (11:25 AM)
I'd go with the first team..tipping point is that 99 is lock top-five and potential winner..but there's no one on either team that doesn't have a shot to finish a minimum top-10.
Robert (cheyenne)
Thanks for the chat GURU! On crew chief comments said that the 15...... ok, seriously, the 15 has a shot for the win???! Is this some pillow talk???
Mark Garrow (11:27 AM)
We put down what they say..can 15 win? No. Can he run top-15? Yes...tough deal for me when it comes to Menard is that sometimes he has a way of finding trouble..which is why I rate 21 a little safer pick at the bottom than the 15..Awesome Bill will race a little more conservatively.
Jimmie Fan (Rochester, NY)
Hi Guru, do you think Kyle Busch is mentally prepared to do well today?
Mark Garrow (11:27 AM)
No...maybe rushing or misunderstood but 17 is way better than 26.
Mike, Memphis
Gu--- 20 with the 8 or 18 with the 1 to round out the 48,17, and 44?
Mark Garrow (11:28 AM)
20 and 8 feels a little safer to me...other set won't hurt you too bad though.
Travis(MN)
good morning mr. guru, who would you say is better between biffle and the 88 today? I can only use one of these guys one more time, so which one looks better in your opinion, thanks a lot!
Mark Garrow (11:29 AM)
I think the 16 is a little better..and Junior should be good at Texas next week.
pj in duluth,mn
Is Ambrose worth the gamble to get a fourth big gun on my team?
Mark Garrow (11:29 AM)
I don't see it.
Miyagi (Cali)
What do you see from Hornish today? Is 7 or 01 a better play?
Mark Garrow (11:30 AM)
Among those three, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but 77 is probably the play with the most upside..
Carl Edwards
If not me then who?
Mark Garrow (11:30 AM)
No one man...you're the man two days in a row..at two different tracks...in two different states..
scott
whos better this week 18 or 88
Mark Garrow (11:31 AM)
I like the 18 a little better because Kyle loves a loose race car and the cars are going to get real loose today.
Henry:Chase City,Va.
What up Halloween Guru.I am in Yahoo and can only use a driver Nine times a year I need One 48 7/9 or 99 8/9 I need Two 6 4/9,9 7/9,18 6/9 or 88 7/9 and C Group 28 or44 and If I didn't use 88 today which other two tracks would be best to use him
Mark Garrow (11:32 AM)
99..a great way to go out..then 18 and 88 or 6..forget about Kahne...44
yzergod, Durango, CO
Hi-ho Guru... Kahne, Labonte, or Ragan and why?
Mark Garrow (11:34 AM)
Thanks for bringing up Labonte...He should have been listed on my budget picks today..At 17.8 he could finish top-15..but I'd rank Ragan above 43 and Kahne..Ragan has a shot at a top-10.
Mike (LA)
Mark - ignore the last question , 8 and 21 or 2 and 44? thanks
Mark Garrow (11:34 AM)

Mark Garrow (11:38 AM)
17 is the safer pick..he's outperformed Tony in three of last four Atlanta races.

Team two feels a little bit stronger to me..01 is scary though..think about the 21 instead.
