John Seibel (2:00 PM)
greetings, 'nation and welcome to the machine. which nfl can make the biggest statement this weekend?
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Will Alabam beat LSU big sat.?
John Seibel (2:06 PM)
you have to listen to today's show. at 5-eastern, i'm going to lay out how we may have a top-10 bloodbath, and alabama is on the list. can lsu win? there's absolutely no doubt they can. listen at 5, and you'll hear my pitch.
Joey Porter
I already made the biggest statement. The league is hypocritical for allowing Matt Jones to play while they're fining guys like me for even breathing
John Seibel (2:09 PM)
i understand why the league hesitated on acting on Matt Jones. since roger goodell took over as commish, they've allowed the judicial system work itself out before acting themself. i do, however, think the jaguars have been a monumental failure for not de-activating him. look what the steelers did with santonio holmes, and that was for pot. jones gets the club's get-out-of-jail-free card for COKE! that's pitiful.
JBG (Scranton, PA)
I think the Giants and Titans can make the biggest statements this weekend. Both have the best records in the NFL and neither is getting the credit they deserve.
John Seibel (2:17 PM)
the titans are getting respect from the "experts" but none from the people. once they lose their 1st-game, the bandwagon will cry out, "told you they weren't that good." i'm not convinced the titans will be the afc's best by the end of december or january for that matter. a win in chicago this weekend won't do a thing for the public's perception of the titans.
Samson (east LA)
Daunte Culpepper can make the biggest statement this weekend. IF he can play well and lead the Lions to victory, he can tell the rest of the NFL 'I told you so.'
John Seibel (2:18 PM)
i know the jaguars have been a huge disappointment, but there is LITTLE chance they will lose to the lions. there's no way a jack del rio team will lose back-to-back games this late in the season to winless teams.
Bruce (CT)
How do you feel about playing games in London?
John Seibel (2:21 PM)
can't stand them. the field is horrendous and the wear and tear of travel on the teams is unfair. if the league feels the need to play over seas, play in japan. i don't like that idea a lot, but it's much better there than clueless europe.
JBG (Scranton, PA)
Fair enough on the Titans. Would a Minnesota win over the Packers make the statement that the Vikes will be in this race until the end?
John Seibel (2:21 PM)
i think they will be in the race anyway. 9-wins will win the nfc north.
samson (east LA)
Arent the Jags notorious for playing down to their competition's level? Isnt that a reflection of their coach? Let's face it, the Jags are in turmoil and Mr. Del Rio isnt nearly the coach some people think he is.
John Seibel (2:23 PM)
del rio is a big reason why i liked this team so much this year. i could not be more disappointed in them. he's not on the hot-seat, but if they lose this week in detroit, that seat will start to get warm and rightly so.
Mike Peterson (Jacksonville)
John, I'm sorry man! I won't talk back anymore! Please let me back on the team!
John Seibel (2:25 PM)
that situation is turning into a joke. peterson should have kept his trap shut like coach said, but to send him home wednesday as well? that's petty.
JBG (Scranton, PA)
OK John which is the worst division in the NFL: AFC West, NFC West or NFC North?
John Seibel (2:26 PM)
afc west. there isn't 1-good team right now in that division. at least the nfc west has the cardinals. yes, i said it.... the cardinals. they are legitimately good. i know the packers are 4-4, but if there's such a thing as a GOOD 4-4 team, they are it.
Jerry (STAMP IT, GA)
So, Seibel...just how much of an enigma are the Colts?
John Seibel (2:29 PM)
wrapped up in a conundrum.... i think the colts issues are clear, actually. peyton is NOT healthy. he's missing an awful lot of passes by leaving them high. that's a clear sign the left knee is not right, and he's hesitant to plant that left foot.
Steve (Syracuse, NY)
Why not believe in the titans? They are BUILT for the winter months! They run the ball and play D---the two things that transition year round.
John Seibel (2:30 PM)
i love their D. i love their running game, but come january, all teams are good. good teams tend to be able to shut down 1-dimension of the other team's offense. can the titans throw the ball and win? i'm not comfortable with that yet. i like what kerry collins has done in the huddle in the wake of the vince young soap opera, but the passing game has yet to carry the day.
Jerry (STAMP IT, GA)
John, we all know you hate Saban (and likely the SEC in general), but how in the world can you possibly think Alabama can lose to LSU? LSU doesn't have an offense, and last I checked, you usually need one of those to win.
John Seibel (2:33 PM)
reality check... i don't hate the sec. i don't hate nick saban. i'm amazed by that conference actually, and i just don't care for saban as a human. he's an unbelievable coach. i do see a way for lsu to win. college players are effected by motivation much more than professional players. college players can be motivated to a level and raise their games to a high level. we've seen this a lot. les miles is one of the top-5 motivators in college. he'll have the tigers amped. add in the point the university wants to prove TO saban, there's a chance. more on this coming at 5-eastern on espn radio.
John Seibel (2:33 PM)
well done, people. see you at 4-eastern (noon in ophir, alaska) on espn radio and espnradio.com.later, 'nation.
