Join the chat to ask Scott about anything you like, whether it's sports, radio, TV, his golf handicap, anything! It all begins at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday! Get your questions in now...
ESPNRadio.com (12:30 PM)
Scott is coming to you live from Albany, NY. He's almost ready for your questions!
Scott Van Pelt (12:31 PM)
Hey everyone...I'm busy keeping Tirico in check...but start firing away!
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Scott, Who is your fav. sports anchor?
Scott Van Pelt (12:33 PM)
Neil Everett. Because I'm taller than him...and he's Neil Everett.
Lauren (Chicago)
Do you think the college coaches, if united, could push back on the NCAA for a playoff system?
Scott Van Pelt (12:34 PM)
No...the coaches have no say. No vote. No nothing. It's about the university presidents and conference commissioners.
Steven (NJ)
Are you and Tirico good buddies?
Scott Van Pelt (12:34 PM)
Mike hates me and I tolerate him begrudgingly.
Mike Tirico (12:35 PM)
I actually text Scott once in a while to make him feel like I like him.
John (Dallas)
Albany NY, did you get lost on the way to work?
Scott Van Pelt (12:35 PM)
Yes...one wrong turn and it all went wrong.
Jake (Syracuse)
Van Peezie, Do you think the Jets will win the AFC East?
Scott Van Pelt (12:36 PM)
No. I just can't buy them as the best team in the division. I think New England wins in the end.
Dan (Nashville)
Why is Penn St still considered a boring Big 10 offense by most people. They average more yards per game than any SEC team, and score more than anyone other than Florida and The Big 12.
Scott Van Pelt (12:37 PM)
Well...they scored 10 against Ohio State. Oklahoma State scored 28 in 5 minutes against Nebraska. I think the biggest drawback for Penn State at the moment is the perception that the Big Ten is weak and I don't know how much more you can milk out of an early season win over Oregon State before they were any good. ---That said...I really believe they are a good football team.
rerun (su)
love the jimmy rollins commercial. great work. do you write those yourself? where do the ideas come from?
Scott Van Pelt (12:38 PM)
Wieden & Kennedy writes the ads, but the majority of the Jimmy Rollins spot was the two of us making it up as we went along.
Tom (Harrisburg PA)
Better tv character Carl or Meatwad? My money's on meatwad myself you cant beat his conversations with shake. Although I will conceide that the foreigner belt may be the coolest thing I've ever seen.
Scott Van Pelt (12:39 PM)
That's a slugfest. Sober, maybe Carl. In an altered state, Meatwad starts to make more sense.
Russell, Fayetteville, North Carolina
Shouldn't College Gameday be in College Park for the Maryland vs. North Carolina game 11/15 being that the winner will likely take their division and go to Tampa?
Scott Van Pelt (12:41 PM)
Everyone in the studio is laughing...but there is some actual discussion that they could go there. But, it's Atlantic vs. Coastal...and the truth is...no one besides you and me are interested in Maryland Football.
Steve (NY)
why does it look like your studio is in a basement? You work at ESPN, they can't get you a better studio?
Scott Van Pelt (12:41 PM)
No, they are too busy providing perks to Mike & Mike.
Dan (buffalo, NY0
Scott, what should fans expect from Quinn tonight? Was it the right move by Savage, err, I mean Crennel?
Scott Van Pelt (12:43 PM)
I don't know think he's been put in a very good position. Because if Cleveland is looking for a savior, they should go to a church or a temple...or wherever they worship. I honestly don't think he'll make a difference. But Mike just told me he thinks he'll be good.
Tim (Austin)
Coach Gundy's "I'm a Man" rant came last year after beating Texas Tech, could you ask him if he has an encore planned?
Scott Van Pelt (12:43 PM)
I think his team had the encore planned all year. They're men. And they've shown it basically every Saturday this year.
David Cincinnati OH
I'm sure you get this a couple times a year, but, any relation to Bradley?
Scott Van Pelt (12:44 PM)
Brad, Alex, Bo, Lucy, Linus. None are kin. I love the word "kin".
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
So the Raiders cut D'Angelo Hall. Have they become the New York Knicks of the NFL?
Scott Van Pelt (12:45 PM)
If by that you mean a "collector of names" then yes. If by that you mean a "once proud franchise that is now doo-doo and averages a coach a year"...then yes.
ESPNRadio.com (12:46 PM)
Scott has to step away for a minute to tape an interview with OK State HC Mike Gundy. In the mean time, the show staff is here to answer any "behind the scenes" or "personal" questions about Scott.
Dustin (New Hampshire)
Scott, you rule! Seriously, you do great work.
David (Columbus, OH)
So, how long will SVP be in the restroom?
ESPNRadio.com (12:48 PM)
He really is taping an interview...but if you want to know the truth he's pretty fast. Usually leaves for the restroom right before we start a segment...and magically appears in time.
Alec (Cincinnati)
When do we get to see some new commercials?
ESPNRadio.com (12:49 PM)
Scott actually just taped one yesterday...if you were listening to yesterday's show you may know a little about it. However...it's supposed to be a secret...you'll see it soon enough.
JD (Maryland)
WE WANT AMANDA, WE WANT AMANDA
Amanda (12:49 PM)
Oh I'm here. We're all here!
Mark (NYC)
Thin, New York style pizza, or deep dish, Chicago style?
ESPNRadio.com (12:50 PM)
Shaun votes thin crust...Amanda says thick crust. Dr. Phil says Chicago style.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Is SVP's office as messy as his show site?
ESPNRadio.com (12:51 PM)
Yes...it's worse actually. He shares an office with Neil (we think) and we imagine you can't find anything. Full of shirts, ties, and all sorts of....you know...
Swish (McCoole, Maryland)
Where is the fat little Coach Mangino look a like Scott. Hearing you laugh made me want to see that kid!!!
ESPNRadio.com (12:52 PM)
We can't find the person who actually took the picture. We need their permission so we can post it on Scott's site. Go find them for us!
Tom (Harrisburg)
Lunch in 5 minutes do I go for pizza, burger or cheesesteak?
ESPNRadio.com (12:52 PM)
Chinese. Scott's favorite.
JD (Maryland)
Amanda, I'm going to penn state next week for the game any suggestions on where to go after the game
ESPNRadio.com (12:52 PM)
Wrong Amanda...she's on ESPNU right now. I know...confusing.
Scott Van Pelt (12:53 PM)
I'm back!!!
Scott Van Pelt (12:54 PM)
By the way...New York style pizza. Mike says Chicago.
JD (Maryland)
Van Peez, you coming down for the Maryland Florida State game?
Scott Van Pelt (12:54 PM)
Looking that way yes....I was there for Wake after they got beat by Virginia...real fan.
John (Dallas)
Anyone watching TruBlood?
Scott Van Pelt (12:55 PM)
I haven't seen it...I keep catching it halfway through and never watch. Should I?
Lauren (Chicago)
Scott- Can the knicks make the playoffs with all this drama already?
Scott Van Pelt (12:55 PM)
East is better this year...I don't see it.
Bob(Lowell)
Wow, chats, interviews, commercials...how do you feel about siglehandedly keeping ESPN afloat?
Scott Van Pelt (12:56 PM)
According to Mike...this chat may be our undoing as a network.
Clif (Sioux Falls,SD)
scott what chance do you really think dallas has to even make wildcard?
Scott Van Pelt (12:57 PM)
Romo makes them a completely different team and they look like they have more problems than just him at the moment. I'm not sure 10-6 is good enough this year.
Nate (Madison)
How do you rank the following: The Wire, The Sopranos, Entourage.
Scott Van Pelt (12:57 PM)
Early Sopranos is tough to beat. I think the Wire is better than all of them. Entourage is like a cookie...a little cookie. You eat it, it's good, and you're done with it.
Cosmo (Anytown, USA)
Yes, watch True Blood. Great story line, lots of action, lots of skin.
mitch (mississippi gulf coast)
why is mike never on the web cam during the show?
Scott Van Pelt (12:58 PM)
He's invisible.
Matt (OKC, OK)
how many years do i have to wait for the Thunder to make the playoffs?
Scott Van Pelt (12:59 PM)
Not as long as you had to wait to get a pro team. I just hope the fans stick with them.
Scott Van Pelt (12:59 PM)
I'm leaving....I'm going to eat. Thanks for chatting!
ESPNRadio.com (1:00 PM)
Thanks for chatting today guys! Keep chatting on ESPNRadio.com (click Tirico & Van Pelt) during the show. They'll be speaking with Peter Gammons, Mike Gundy, Gary Williams, and Jon Barry.
nate (jackson, wi)
what is your favorite city in the country to visit and why?
Justin (Chicago)
Why do some people hate lob wedges?
Cosmo (Anytown, USA)
How are the Giants a 3-point underdog to the Eagles? Makes no sense to me.
Swish (McCoole, Maryland)
Scott seriously just post fat kid Mangino...i want to see it so bad!!!!!!
JD (Maryland)
LONG LIVE TIRICO!!!!
Richard (Baltimore, MD)
The wire is prob the best show ever on TV. With ATHF a close second lol
Kenny (Roanoke, VA)
Everyone is harping on Dallas getting Romo back and I know it is big, but I think Kosier, Newman and Felix Jones may be just as big.
Matt (Philly)
Maryland or VT? ...SVP, thanks for visiting Maryland's Journalism School a few years back!
Kenny (Roanoke, VA)
Once the offense starts clicking and not going three and out every drive the defense will look much more daunting than they have the last three games.
Cody (Indiana)
This is in regards to the poll on the homepage. How come no one mentions a six team playoff? Just like the NFL, top two seeds get byes. There's 5
ron (seattle)
life on mars is a trip show
rerun (su)
don't leave out Always Sunny in Philadelphia...great show. instant classic.
Kenny (Roanoke, VA)
Go Hokies!!
Rob (NY)
Where did you get the picture of SVP that's on this page? From hist 1st yr ESPN ID?
Jon (terp alum) (Boulder, CO)
No more Wire and no more Sopranos there is really nothing left to watch except maybe Entourage and Mad Men
Tom (Golden, CO)
With the Western Conference being as competitive as it is. How do you see The Nuggets doing with there recent acquisition of Chauncey Billups?
Richard (Baltimore, MD)
what up SVP? Terps in the building. on to more serious matters what do you think of the reported Manny deal?
Alec (Cincinnati)
If the Bearcats beat the Mountaineers in Morgantown can we then start to talk about them?
Tom (Golden, CO)
With the AFC West being a conference being in complete chaos, who do you expect to come forward and step up in being the conference champion?
Tim (Tampa, FL)
I seem to be less than convinced that Pete Carroll's recent comments have any weight. I'm a USC fan, but I don't think he's doing himself any favors with voters. Should he have just kept his beak shut, so to speak?
Ryan (Albany, NY)
Hey Scotty, I hear your here in the ALB today, Rock solid my friend. All i want, is someone to tell the world that it isnt the PLAYERS who play for the Raiders fault that they are an abstract disaster. its all ownership and the front office...please someone defend my beloved Raiders its not their fault!
Bob Wood (Cleveland, OH)
Scott, I am a die hard cleveland browns fan. Why are they burning the coach down for making this move? We have suffered to long with Anderson's bottom the the league stats. We need a spark and just maybe Brady will give us that. Thanks love the show
DB (Vermont)
Since you're all the way up in Albany, why don't you pop over to VT and say hello on your way home? Now then, on to serious matters: those BK commercials with those folk singers singing about schroom and swiss burgers...love them or hate them?
Lee Bruister (Melbourne, Florida)
Scott, Your partner just asked who should be paid the most, right after you talked about the Pittsburgh QB being runover all the time. Just curious, but does Peyton Manning, (exclude this year) and Tom Brady get paid nearly as much as "big Ben"? Maybe that's why he gets killed?? Because the other guys allow their teams to pay other players, i.e. Offensive Linemen, like Jeff Saturday, etc. I dont know how much they make, just a thought.
Michael (Vancouver, Vanada)
Packers/Vikings huge game. Who takes this one?
John (Dallas)
Scott, you are no longer following the yellow brick road.
Michael (Vancouver, Canada)
I can bet Texas Tech 15/1 to win BCS, any value there or are they going to get beat by OU in a couple weeks?
Ryan (DC)
Anderson is not your only problem. Your recievers don't understand the poisition, which is "Catch the Ball"
Mike Peterson (Jacksonville)
Scott, wait!! I didn't mean to talk back! Please let me play this weekend!
Chris Stone (Sherrill, NY)
Why isn't anyone talking about the New York Giants, I think you could rank them up as one of the greatest teams. They have so many weapons and their defense is just redonkulous
Jason (Minneapolis)
Do you think Jerry Jones will take a run at Ex-Raider DHall?
Lauren (Chicago)
Last time I checked ROmo doesn't play defense - how do they get those wins???
Cody (Indiana)
This is in regards to the poll on the homepage. How come no one mentions a six team playoff? Just like the NFL, top two seeds get byes. There's 5
Jake (Syracuse)
J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS
Adam (Chicago, IL)
Weak!
Casey (Oxford)
SVP, Need a side on your Terps and VT(-3) tonight along with TCU(-2) @ Utah. Didnt win on my scratch off lottery tickets so how about some Thursday night football!!
Adam (Martin, TN)
SVP, Do you think 1 loss team from the SEC will make it into the National Championship game?
Dan (Long Branch, NJ)
Heyward Bey vs. Macho Harris tonight. This is a matchup of 2 first rounders going tonight. It's gonna be great. Any truth to the rumor that Lane Stadium is going to be blasting "Round and Round" by RATT tonight instead of Enter Sandman? lol. GO TERPS!
Ryan (Albany, NY)
Van Pelt! Where in the ALB are you at!? I will being you Diet Coke...oh yes, i will!
ESPNRadio.com (2:01 PM)
