Brendan Roberts (2:59 PM)
Good afternoon, everyone! Hope Week 10 treated you well. Let's get rolling ... the big news of the day: Tatum Bell signing with the Broncos.
Brendan Roberts (2:59 PM)
Oh wait, I said big news. Never mind.
Greg (Houston)
There's a lot being written about Mark Bradley doing so well because he's drawing single coverage from defenses. Does he have more value going forward than someone like the slumping Avery?
Brendan Roberts (3:00 PM)
Good thought, but I'd have to say no. With either of those guys, you're looking for lightning in a bottle. And Avery's "lightning" figures to be "more fierce" than Bradley's.
Jimmy McNulty (B-More)
What's your take on Greg Jennings for the rest of the season? He and Rodgers don't seem to have the same chemistry as they had earlier in the season.
Brendan Roberts (3:01 PM)
I think Jennings is just drawing more attention, which is why the Pack have been throwing to the backs and Driver more (and other receivers). I still think he should kept around, not traded, and started weekly. Sitll plenty of TD upside there.
Sublexion (Not Torn Labrum)
Is Willie Parker a good start this week? Or should I pencil in MeMo to go again?
Brendan Roberts (3:02 PM)
It's sounding like Parker will go, and something tells me he has a little fire in his belly after being called out by a few media outlets because of his injuries. And if he plays, he'll get a better percentage of the touches. You want to start A Steelers back, and I'd make it Parker (unless something changes this week).
Scott (Atlanta)
Any chance Larry Johnson can produce at a high level once he is back?
Brendan Roberts (3:03 PM)
I think he can. Not sure why everyone has written him off. The Chiefs have some favorable matchups down the road, LJ is motivated (and no longer suspended), he has fresh legs, and he'll get a good percentage of the RB touches. I say he's a good start, beginning in Week 11 (versus the Saints).
Toby Mac (Englewood, CO)
Pick one: Fargas, Hillis, Tatum Bell?
Brendan Roberts (3:04 PM)
Fargas.
Adam (Chicago)
Time to cut the losses with Braylon and play a guy like Driver or A Bryant on a weekly basis?
Brendan Roberts (3:05 PM)
Nah, I'd stick with Braylon. He's had a bad season, but I watched that Browns game (like many of you) and am intrigued by what Brady Quinn might do for the offense/passing game. Right now he appears to favor Winslow, but at least if the team is scoring more, Braylow, a good red-zone target, will see his value rise.
Billy (Jacksonville, FL)
Is Steve Slaton a good start this week and the rest of the season(PPR League)?
Brendan Roberts (3:06 PM)
Yeah, I'd say so. He's still explosive, but he'll just get a couple fewer touches. Kubiak said he was just trying to rest him a little more last week. But when it comes down to it, he'll get the meaningful touches, not Green, and that includes along the goal line.
Dave (CA)
Speaking of Bradley, would you drop Holt to pick him up?
Brendan Roberts (3:07 PM)
Nah, I wouldn't. But I would drop Holt in a number of other different scenarios.
Brian (pittsburgh)
Best play this week: Thigpen, Big Ben, or Delhomme? All have great matchups. Rest of the season: These three plus Hasselbeck?
Brendan Roberts (3:09 PM)
I still don't trust Thigpen or Hass (even though the latter might return this week), so it comes down to Ben and Jake. And I'd say Jake because: a) He's healthy; and b) He has a more favorable sked (including DET this week). I think last week's dud was fluky.
TOM (NY)
Whats your feelings on tatum bell going forward? Will he be the starter in denver by next week?
Brendan Roberts (3:10 PM)
I just can't see that. I mean, you never know with Shanahan, but ol' Mike didn't like him the first time around, and Bell has proven he can't handle the job by himself. I think he's part of the mix, but not start-worthy. I think he kinda fills the Andre Hall role in Denver.
Ryan: (miami, FL)
Can you rank these D's for this week and the rest of the year? Jets, Eagles, Vikes Thanks!
Brendan Roberts (3:11 PM)
I really like to believe in the Eagles' D, but I just see them giving up too many yards/big plays. Too bad because the team can really get after ya. I'd choose the Vikes, followed by the Jets, although I'm not crazy about any of 'em.
Tory (Minneapolis)
Does anyone else but me think Turner and R. Browns best fantasy days are behind them this year? All their carries are getting vultured, I traded them both this week. What do you think?
Brendan Roberts (3:13 PM)
You are not alone. In fact, I think you're in the minority. I'm a huge fan of Norwood going way back, and I think the Falcs are starting to like him, too. He deserves at least a good share of those touches there. Meanwhile, defenses are figuring out how to stop the Wildcat. Read a good feature story about how to defense that (can't remember where), and it's basically by just forcing Brown to throw it. When he lines up at QB, you load up ...
Michael Turner (Atlanta)
My boy Jerious is making me a bit nervous the rest of the year. Will I still put up big fantasy numbers or will he keep stealing my thunder?
Brendan Roberts (3:13 PM)
I choose "stolen thunder."
Wes (Atlanta)
I was hurting badly at running back behind LT (had Deuce, Pittman and LJ) so I traded LT and Hines Ward for Lynch and Michael Turner. Did I give up too much?
Brendan Roberts (3:14 PM)
I think you did, but this is fantasy football, so you never know. Either way, what's done is done.
Ryan, St Louis
Felix and V Jackson for Jennings, too much to give up to a Barber owner?
Brendan Roberts (3:14 PM)
Nah, I think it's close enough to justify.
Spencer (E.L.)
Would you guys start T. ROMO this week?
Brendan Roberts (3:15 PM)
Obviously depends on the other options, but I sure would (and will, in a few leagues). The Skins' D is tough, but Romo is already back practicing and reportedly is really rarin' to go. I'll bet he's prepared to do well, and has the weapons to succeed. Yup, I'm starting him unless I have another solid option (which is unlikely, considering where Romo was drafted in many leagues).
BenJarvus Green-Ellis (MA)
Who will get more yards this week, me or Sammy Morris?
Brendan Roberts (3:16 PM)
Still not sure if Sammy will play, but if he does, I'd say Morris.
Steven Jackson (St Louis)
Will I play anytime soon, and will I be effective when I come back?
Brendan Roberts (3:17 PM)
Early reports have it at, in my estimation, a 60-40 chance leaning toward Jackson playing. Hardly a sure thing, of course, but if he does play, I'd start him against the Niners.
Joe (Chicago - total injured line-up)
I need some help with my starts this week. Please!!!!!!! I'm barely holding on to a playoff spot. Would you play Romo or Ryan (love the match-up and I'm not sure how Romo will do after a month off). Plus please pick 2 from T Jones, FWP, R Bush, BJGE, M Moore. Thursday and the uncertainty of injuries are making it hard for me to set my line-up! Thanks!
Brendan Roberts (3:19 PM)
I was afraid somebody would ask me whether I'd go Romo or Ryan. I do like Romo, but that Ryan matchup is tough to pass up, no matter who you're comparing him to. It'd twist my gut, but I'd start Ryan there. And I'd also go with Jones and Fast Willie, without knowing Bush's status. I mean, it's looking like Reggie will return, but I have my doubts, and I'm not sure how effective and how much work he'll get from the get-go. I'd plan on Parker.
Kudos
Can I just give a shout out to the Fantasy MVP for the year....Anquan Boldin (leading reciever in FP's despite a major facial fracture)-Thank you for helping me dominate my 2 leagues!--What a BEAST.
Brendan Roberts (3:20 PM)
Yeah, the time missed (not his fault, of course) hurts his "MVP status," and he was drafted fairly high, but he certainly has been WAY better than I expected.
Lendale (Nashville)
My owner wants to package me and my boy A. Bryant for S. Smith and J. Norwood. Is he crazy??
Brendan Roberts (3:20 PM)
I like the Norwood-Steve Smith side of that better.
Dwight Schrute (Scranton, PA)
Hey Brendan, you scared of this question or what?? Rank the following WRs for the rest of the year in a PPR League: Avery, Camarillo, Bradley, J Morgan, Ginn... THANKS!
Brendan Roberts (3:21 PM)
Typical Dwight Schrute, you purple belt pro! I'd probably go like this: Ginn, Avery, Morgan, Camarillo, Bradley.
Real Quick 1-Word Answer
Shiancoe or Dustin Keller for the rest of the year?
Brendan Roberts (3:22 PM)
I'd say Shiancoe.
Ricky (Dallas, TX)
Portis is really beat up and has a tough playoff schedule. Given this, would you rather have Gore over him moving forward?
Brendan Roberts (3:23 PM)
Great question, Ricky. Really forcing me to think and go against the grain. First of all, Portis is wearing down, and he reportedly is only 50-50 this week. Gore, meanwhile, is really clicking along. Believe it or not, as of right now, I'd go with Gore.
Michael (RI)
With Tyler Thigpen playing fairly well, will Dwayne Bowe's fantasy value increase?
Brendan Roberts (3:24 PM)
Nah, Thigpen appears to like to spread it around. I think it was Croyle who liked Bowe a lot. Bowe will continue to be inconsistent.
Gregg (Memphis)
How concerned should I be with Lee Evans recent play? Will he bounce back in the upcoming weeks?
Brendan Roberts (3:25 PM)
I think he'll turn into Lee Evans circa 2007. Inside of you, you had to believe that the Evans you saw in the first half wasn't for real. He'll have his moments/games, and you probably should continue to start him, but I think the inconsistency we've seen the past few weeks is more what to expect from him.
Mark (Toronto)
how valuable will ricky williams be for the rest of the year? he had a big game this past week and the dolphins have some nice matchups the rest of the way
Brendan Roberts (3:26 PM)
I like Ricky; unfortunately, I think this week's performance was a fluke. I just can't see him being start-worthy in non-bye weeks unless I'm really hurting at the position.
brian (de)
Drop Earnest Graham to pick up Larry Johnson? With Grahams injury and timeshare and Johnsons upside I have to do it right?
Brendan Roberts (3:27 PM)
Oh, my. Tough call. Hmm, my confidence in this selection isn't high, but I'd have to say LJ. (Hold your boos.) Graham probably will play this week, but so will Warrick and maybe even Cadillac. LJ should get a lot of work.
Steve(Ma)
WHITTEN or WINSLOW this week? Also need 2. Randy Moss. Plax, Bowe, or Royal? 1/2ppr Thanks
Brendan Roberts (3:28 PM)
I'd say Winslow. I think he's in for a big second half with Quinn at QB. Receivers: Moss, for sure, and probably Royal. Yes, Royal. Figures to get the most targets, especially given Denver's running struggles, and should do fine in a (half-)PPR league.
Matt (Baltimore)
Brendan, when (or if) will the league suspend the players for using the illegeal substances (M. Jones, the three saints and the two williams' from Min)
Brendan Roberts (3:29 PM)
It's looking like late November. Jones might be earlier, but still hearing just "late November" for the other guys. The league wouldn't want them to be out in the final weeks, but their reviews aren't complete yet.
Ryan: (miami, FL)
What's Westbrook's value this week and going forward? He has one bad week against one of the top ranked rushing D's and now he's being ranked 7th against Cincinnati? Cincinnati! MeMo got 3 TD's over them!
Brendan Roberts (3:31 PM)
Yeah, a lot of grumbling about Westy. He has averaged 3.2 yards per carry or less in five of the past six games. Or something like that. But you're right. When your back is hurting, you need only rub a little Bengals on it. B-West is a money start this week, and going forward. His struggles of late were just a "market correction" after the first few weeks.
Derrick (FL)
Good Afternoon Brendan, In a tough QB spot this week, who do you recommend? Flacco, Garrard, or Gus?
Brendan Roberts (3:32 PM)
Yeah, that's a tough one. If Mason were fully healthy, I'd say Flacco, but he's not. I'd go with Garrard at home instead.
Jeff (MA)
Witten or Clark in PPR?
Brendan Roberts (3:32 PM)
I'd say Witten there.
Randy (cT)
Hey Brendan! OK...so pick, Lynch/CLE (Do I trust him to get back to basics and be solid against them) or trust C Johnson/JAX just had a bad day and now will be even more effective cause teams will need to respect the TEN pass more ya think?. Need a win to solidify my playoff birth. I have Gore going as my other RB. Thanks for your continued help.
Brendan Roberts (3:33 PM)
Playoff birth?! Your first one?! Kidding, kidding. I'd probably have to go with Johnson, although I like both guys this week. You can't go wrong.
Scott (Austin)
Rapid fire: Drop Avery for which WW RB? Norwood, Morris, Dunn, Fargas
Brendan Roberts (3:34 PM)
Norwood. I believe he could slip in as a nice flex player when the matchup is right.
Chris-CT
Tough question here in a deep league!! BenJarvus Green-Ellis or Tatum Bell for the rest of the season? Is Green-Ellis just keeping the seast warm until Morris/Jordan/Faulk get healthy? Don't you like the potential of Bell in that offense where all defenses will play them pass first? It is a completely different O since Bell was there the first time, right?
Brendan Roberts (3:35 PM)
A completely different O ... but the same ol' Tatum Bell. Well, this time the same ol' unemployed Bell. I think his upside is limited, no matter the situation. And that's why I'd choose BenJarvus.
Tylor (south dakota)
Drop Fargas for LJ ? I think LJ will be a better option when he comes back because of KC's passing game coming around..what do you think ? My other RB..SJax, Grant, Bush, M. Moore. Thanks !!
Brendan Roberts (3:35 PM)
Yup, do it up! Looking like LJ will play this week in New Orleans.
Kirk (NYC)
Help! I am stuck at Flex and am unsure whether to start Fargas or Fred Taylor!!
Brendan Roberts (3:35 PM)
In that case, I'd probably say Fargas this week.
Ben (NY)
TRADE QUESTION: Two weeks ago I traded Boldin, Mewelde and FWP for Westbrook, my other wr's are Wayne, Jennings and Royal. I thought i made a great move dealing from a strength now im starting to think it might have a been a colossal mistake, What do you think?
Brendan Roberts (3:36 PM)
Well, trading for Westbrook wasn't bad, and sounds like the guys you traded were OK, but you should have gotten a second guy back from him. Don't forget to add to deals to get all you can, even if they're lesser guys. You never know how they can help.
Wes Welker (MA)
I have 66 receptions this season. Will you please tell the numbskull who drafted me to not start Colston over me going forward in a PPR league! Thx.
Brendan Roberts (3:37 PM)
All work and no Wes Welker make Brendan a dull boy. All work and no Wes Welker make Brendan a dull boy ...
Mark (Chicago)
Brendan, is Warrick Dunn worth a no. 1 waiver spot? We don't play by ESPN rules, so players only go on waivers when they are dropped by another team.
Brendan Roberts (3:38 PM)
So if I'm reading you correctly, there really isn't much to choose from on the waiver wire, right? If that's the case, pick up Dunn. With Graham's knee hurting, you at least have some upside there.
Nathan, MN
rivers(Pit) or ryan(den)?
Brendan Roberts (3:39 PM)
Another tough one. What the hay ... Ryan. I think the Steelers will knock Rivers around this week.
Kim Deal (CA)
Looking a head a bit, I've got a solid team but I'd like to pick up a QB to backup McNabb. Of the ususal suspects (all the rookies, Big Ben, Delhomme, etc...), who might you consider picking up?
Brendan Roberts (3:39 PM)
Delhomme.
Doug (Charlotte)
Am I overpaying to get Addai for Jennings and M. Moore? I'm thinking Addai would be worth adding for the stretch run.
Brendan Roberts (3:40 PM)
Yes. I honestly believe Dominic Rhodes has worked his way into the Colts' RB situation when all is normal. As in, I think it's now a platoon. He's the better receiver, and if you saw that game Sunday, he was clearly the better back.
Kai (Karlsruhe, Germany)
How much does Mewelde Moore hurt Joseph Addais value ... this week and the rest of the season? Addai is still a must start with the Colts upcoming cupcake schedule, right?
Brendan Roberts (3:41 PM)
Just addressed that one (with Rhodes, not Moore). I think Rhodes is part of the picture, but Addai still should start during those aforementioned "cupcake" matchups.
Lonnie (Dallas)
Should I trade LJ and Housh for TO? I have Chris Johnson, FWP and Westbrook. Thanks!
Brendan Roberts (3:42 PM)
No way. You might believe Owens bounces back, and I'm with ya, but the 'Boys' playoff sked is vicious, and that's too much to give up for just TO. Heck, I might even like Housh more right now. TO's trade value should be recognized as low.
Lance.CA
OK to drop Marvin Harrison now?
Brendan Roberts (3:43 PM)
Hemm, Hawww. The Colts still say he'll continue to start, and he DID get chances to score (he just blew 'em) Sunday. But I can't give you a good reason not to drop Marvin.
Kevin Boss (NY)
Am I the real deal or what?? Jeremy who?? LOL!!!
Brendan Roberts (3:44 PM)
Not sure you're the real deal. But I do believe in the Jeremy who part! Shockey looks like a bust, and now his ankle is hurting again.
John, nyc
Just received Gore in a trade, and have SJax, Fast Willie, and Thomas Jones to fill one last spot. Considering injuries, who would you go with this week? Also, T Jones for Braylon, who wins?
Brendan Roberts (3:44 PM)
I like Jones more there ... nice job getting Gore. This week? Even with a tough matchup, I'd still have to say the hot Jones.
That Guy
Can we have the obligatory "Tatum Bell packed Rudi Johnson's bags and headed back to Denver this morning" joke? I think its kind of necessary at this point...
Brendan Roberts (3:45 PM)
I chuckled enough to post it here.
Ryan (Rochester)
Is it safe to trust M. Jones another week, or would you put Welker, Bryant, and Coles ahead of him? PPR League...
Brendan Roberts (3:46 PM)
I'd probably put at least Welker and Coles ahead of him regardless of whether he plays. Especially in a PPR league ... Welker is a horse.
Brendan Roberts (3:46 PM)
(I mean, not literally ... he's more like one of those miniature horses.)
Macho Man Randy Savage
How about T Jones for Colston?
Brendan Roberts (3:46 PM)
I like Jones better.
Mark (San Diego)
Hey Brendan, NEED YOUR HELP BADLY!!!!! I need 2 starters and a flex out of these RBS with good matchups. Westbrook(CIN), R.Brown(OAK), D.Williams(KC), C.Johnson(JAX).
Brendan Roberts (3:47 PM)
Oh, tough ones. I believe DeAngelo faces the Lions, not the Chiefs ... and I'd take him, Westy and C.Johnson.
Dan (Philadelphia)
Westbrook is an auto-start but do I insert Lynch or Hightower into the second slot? Hightower?s match-up against the Seattle rush defense is quite tempting. Also Pitt (vs SD) or Carolina (vs Det) D? Pitt is superior but can you pass up a shot at multiple Culpepper picks? Thanks!
Brendan Roberts (3:49 PM)
I was not impressed with Hightower last night. He was pressured in the backfield a lot, and looked a little worn-down late in the game. I'd say Lynch for the second slot. And I'd definitely say Carolina for the second slot. You nailed it with Daunte/Stanton!
Matthew Berry (ESPN)
Brendan, Trade Help Please!!!! A)Gore/Gage B)Hightower/Berrian Thank you
Brendan Roberts (3:49 PM)
Gore/Gage.
Geoff (Newport Beach, CA)
Hey Brendan, do I give Marvin Harrison one more shot at WR #3 vs. HOU, or do I bench him for an upside play such as Koren Robinson vs. AZ??
Brendan Roberts (3:50 PM)
So, basically, it's between Harrison and Koren? In that case, I'd say Marvin.
Jay (IN)
Trade Megatron for Lynch? Can Calvin keep up this trend of catching 2 balls for ridiculous yardage?
Brendan Roberts (3:51 PM)
I think he adds a few more catches to the mix, especially when strong-armed Daunte establishes himself. That said, their value is much the same, and I could see trading him for Marshawn.
Kyle, OHIO
PLEASE help Brendan!!! I"m begging. I was sent the following trade offer. I give Winslow & Cotchery and I get Slaton. I also have Cooley so I would be OK at TE still. What do you think? Should I see if he'll take Cooley instead of Winslow??
Brendan Roberts (3:52 PM)
Yeah, I'd see if he'd take Cooley instead. He just might. If not, in your case, I'd still do it. Try to maybe get a throw-in, even if it's his (new) backup tight end, just to have someone better than what's on the waiver wire, but I'd still do it.
The Receiver Formerly Known as Plax
Do you consider Ginn or Camarillo to take my spot for some matchup plays through the end of the year? I don't have the easiest schedule from here on out.
Brendan Roberts (3:52 PM)
Yes, good point (on the MIA sked). But I still like Ginn more as a matchups play.
IVE BEEN SITTING HERE FOR 50 MINUTES ANSWER MY QUESTION
Trade. I Get: Portis I give up: Forte Cutler. I have warner at qb so i only need cut for injury insurance. I am tryn to get ready for playoffs.
Brendan Roberts (3:54 PM)
Easy there, I don't usually respond to beligerence. I wouldn't do that. Portis is hurting and might not be the same back from here on out. I'd at least ask for someone else in return. It's close, but maybe he'll add in another useable player?
Austin (Maryland)
PICK A SIDE: Big Ben/Frank Gore or Matt Ryan/Michael Turner????
Brendan Roberts (3:54 PM)
Darned close, but I like the Gore side, mostly because of Gore.
Dazed and getting more confused by the minute
Trade??? I want to move a back for either Steve Smith or Wayne. I have Brown, T Jones, Deangelo and Forte available. What do you suggest I try offer? Thanks
Brendan Roberts (3:55 PM)
Those guys are likely in high demand by their owners. It'd probably take a hot Jones or DeAngelo to do it. And he might just do that ... as long as you can afford to lose a starting back.
Westbrook Owner
Better Waiver Wire pick up Buckhalter, Rhodes or Benson?
Brendan Roberts (3:56 PM)
Hmm, definitely not Correll. Given their sked, I'd probably say Rhodes. He's playing a lot and could be start-worthy in a number of weeks. It's close, though; Benson is tempting, given his workload.
Scott (OH)
Hail Mary Brendan! Pick one QB and one RB from the following waiver choices: Quinn, Garcia, Culpepper and Rhodes or Felix Jones?
Brendan Roberts (3:57 PM)
Sure thing, Scott. Brady Quinn (why not?) and Rhodes.
Now you've done it.......Catering to the obnoxious
Thigpen, Pennington or Quinn for this week? I know, terrible, but I have no other choice unless Orton plays.
Brendan Roberts (3:58 PM)
Oakland actually has a decent pass D ... I'd probably take Thigpen, who might get into a shootout in New Orleans and has decent receiving weapons.
Hurry.....my boss is coming
Big Ben or Chad?
Brendan Roberts (3:58 PM)
(Big Ben.)
Jordan (Peoria)
Brendan, is it just me or is Grant getting better? He is still not the stud of last year but against some tough defenses he has been running well.
Brendan Roberts (3:59 PM)
It's not just you. I have been writing about him the past several weeks and have noted that his hammy is finally healed, he is getting more work than in the first half, has fresher legs than most, and the Pack have some nice matchups coming up. The guy is money for the second half, in my eyes. ... Two more, folks.
polite young person
Mr. Roberts, who do you like best from this group of talented TEs: Winslow, Boss, Daniels, Witten?? PPR league. Thank you very much
Brendan Roberts (4:00 PM)
Look at the politeness! Close, but believe it or not, I like Winslow the best. I think, honestly, he could be the most productive tight end in the second half. Who's with me!!!!????
Andrew (NJ)
Rest of the season, Breaston or Avery?
Brendan Roberts (4:01 PM)
Breaston. That guy looks like someone special to me. If it weren't for him being No. 3, which might lead to the occasional bogey from him, I think he could be a top-15 WR. I seriously do.
Brendan Roberts (4:02 PM)
All righty, folks. Have to cut it here. Only 1,767 questions in an hour this week! Ha, ha. Best of luck to y'all in Week 11; go get another W as you head to the playoffs!
