Is Manny Ramirez worth $25 million dollars a year for six years (according to Scott Boras, how much Manny wants)? He takes 25-50 good swings a year and thats worth it? He cries about injuries he never tries to get fixed, his attitude and his arrogance are reasons players hate him, it just seems like overall he is not worth it. You have guys sitting out their either in free agency or up for a trade that could be better players for teams due to their all around effort (Matt Holliday, Milton Bradley, Prince Fielder) and if you can afford that kind of a contract for Manny why can't you afford it for anyone else?
Steve Levy (6:36 PM)
hello people...lets crank this chat up...ben, first of all, no baseball player is worth 25 million per season but some desperate team will pay him that, the question is, for how many seasons...personally, i cant get past the stunt manny pulled in boston...but that's just me...
Do you like fotball or wipeout better?
Steve Levy (6:41 PM)
football...no john anderson

What did you do when you first started working at ESPN? What colleges does ESPN look at for employment?
Steve Levy (6:43 PM)
when i started here 15 years ago there was no espn 2 or espnews...i started right on sportscenter...back then the late show was only 30 minutes, amazing that it's 90 minutes quite often now...as far as the college question, not sure espn looks at specific colleges...they look at college graduates who want to work at espn
Steve Levy (6:46 PM)
technical difficulties people, hang in there, i'm not exactly the computer type
Sir, Please tell the people in charge of the TOP 10 plays to STOP putting dunks on the top 10 plays. Everyone in the NBA can dunk. There is nothing special about a dunk. thanks
Steve Levy (6:48 PM)
preaching to the choir there...we fight that fight every night...balance is a good thing...sometime i argue on air for a chest pass or set shot to make top plays but it never happens...

what college degree do you need to become a sport center anchor?
Steve Levy (6:50 PM)
no one here has ever asked to see my degree, so while some courses may help its really about your tape and what you can do on the air if you really want to be an anchor...
Will S. (Bristol, CT (doing your job in the future))
Steve, we haven't seen you in any new "This is SC" commercials lately. Anything in the works? Do you feel slighted? As you were in tons of them years past.
Steve Levy (6:52 PM)
for most of us, its just whoever happens to be in the building at the right time...some of my colleagues will come in on thier day off to shoot those spots...van pelts in all of them because he's great at it...anderson and i just taped one the other day with albert pujols...
Steve, how did it feel to televise one of the one of the longest NHL games which was the 1996 game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals that went four overtimes.
Steve Levy (6:54 PM)
slept really well that night...felt like i was going to have a heart attack for 6 straight hours...it was intense...and very cool to be a part of ...
was that a real fight with the pa announcer this morning on sportcenter or was it planned?

Do you tink the Titans will survive the NFl season un-deafeated?

How do you feel when you are delivering highlights or a story on an athlete you don't neccessarily like? Is that challenging at all?
Steve Levy (6:58 PM)
really not that difficult that all...have to be impartial, that's part of being a pro...truth of it is, cant really think of any pro athletes i truly dislike...might dislike their team from my childhood days but that's a different story...

Mr. Levy: I heard your bit on Lincecum, the Cy Young winner from the National League, and the comment on his dress. Were you really disparaging his choice of a stocking cap instead of baseball hat with a team or corporate sponsor? Or did the jacket he was wearing upset your image of professional athlete? Shouldn't be a big deal, but just know every time one of you talking heads can't seem to reconcile an athlete who lives a little bit outside of the robotic kind of expectation the "business" of sport holds for them, (and I'm not talking about the absurd theatre that guys like T.O. stage or the immaturity of John Daly) I come closer to canceling my cable and cutting off your many opportunities to deliver me to your corporate masters. Thanks for reading.
Steve Levy (7:00 PM)
we were really referring to his youthful appearance and his "wooo hooo"
