We have a Monday Night Football marathon chat leading into Monday's game! We'll have fantasy experts stopping by as well as our group from Football Outsiders and Scouts Inc.! It all starts at 3 p.m. ET on Monday!
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:01 PM)
Good afternoon, everyone! Glad to be kicking off the chat once again today. Let's get right to your questions ...
Jason (St. Louis)
Is there any clarity in the Willie Parker shoulder saga?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:03 PM)
Clarity? No. But as Stephania Bell points out today in her injury blog, even if Parker does have a labral tear, as has been reported, he could play through it, but Mewelde Moore should remain on a roster, because one hit could knock Parker out.
Corey (Eugene)
Tony Romo... Thoughts?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:05 PM)
My thought is that if Romo returns this week, as expected, that he should be starting in fantasy.
Brian(Oshkosh, WI)
Will McGahee start next week and is LT ever going to get in the endzone again this year???
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:06 PM)
Gotta say yes, and yes. But the matchup for McGahee next week vs. the Giants isn't nearly as appealing as yesterday's. And Tomlinson truly looks more like his old self, so I think he'll finish the season strong.
Vic (Kailua, HI)
Who do you like better in a league where all TDs are 6 pts: Warner or Cutler?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:07 PM)
Gotta go with Warner, if for no other reason than the fact he's got 2+ TDs in 15 of his past 16 games.
Rich(Alexandria)
Hey Ears! Can I get your take on my situation for tonight?I'm up by 2 points. My opponent has Warner, I've got Gore. What are my chances to get the win?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:08 PM)
Rich, your best chances rely on Warner getting picked off a couple times and Gore finding the end zone a couple times. Just root for Hightower to score on the ground!
Dave (CA)
Is Colston finally safe to start again? Lee Evans is killing me.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:09 PM)
No question about it. The Saints will continue to sling the ball all over the place, and Colston's the team's best receiver. I like him much more than Evans the rest of the way.
Tom (FL)
Who do you think I should start tonight, Frank Gore or Tim Hightower?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:12 PM)
I like Gore more, Tom. He has 8 TDs in his past 5 games vs. Arizona.
Dennis (MO)
What's with the case of the disappearing Faulk? Will he slide further into oblivion, and just what is the NE runningback situation going forward?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:14 PM)
Well, you never know for sure what Belichick and Co. will do, but Green-Ellis certainly showed he could carry the load, and since the Pats led basically the whole time, they were able to ground it out. They prefer to use Faulk as a change of pace and a receiver, and it wasn't as necessary to do that yesterday. Since I'm not convinced Morris or Jordan will be back on Thursday, I expect Green-Ellis to get the majority of touches again.
Steve (NM)
Keith-great job last week-you saved my team!Got rejected for a MJD for Gates trade. Is MJD for Gonzales too much? I need a TE (have Olsen) and can give up a RB. It's a PPR keeper league.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:16 PM)
Glad things worked out, Steve. If you truly can afford to get rid of a RB, then Gonzalez is obviously a nice, consistent upgrade from Olsen, so with no more byes left, it makes sense, knowing what I know about your roster.
Bill(NJ)
Thoughts on Steven Jackson? Worth buying low for possible playoff run (Seattle and San Fran) or worried about the injury?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:17 PM)
I'm a little concerned, at least for the short term, but if you don't have to overpay for a banged-up Jackson, and you're in good enough shape that you can win without him should he have to miss another week or two, then he's definitely a decent guy to target.
Chase (Las Vegas)
Hey Keith....can you answer a quick question for me before i head out to the Wynn....Is Flacco worth a start at QB from here on out in leagues that give 6 pts for TDs?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:19 PM)
Flacco is still only a matchups play in my opinion. He's been great at limiting mistakes the past month or so, but still isn't a high scorer overall ... and he's got some more difficult matchups coming up (NYG, PHI) the next two weeks.
Dave (CA)
Is it possible to see McGahee?s performance yesterday as anything more than a fluke? One week he?s inactive, the next he gets zero carries and then he goes off. Would you rather have him or Jamal Lewis for the rest of the year?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:22 PM)
I don't think it was fluky. I think the team just wasn't comfortable with playing a less-than-100% McGahee vs. Cleveland, a team they likely felt they could run against with Rice and/or McClain (which they did). McGahee will be the streakier guy, with more upside the rest of the way. Lewis is the more steady option, with no real threat from anyone to steal his carries. I'd rather have the more sure thing, so I'd go with Lewis in a close one.
Tom (Calif)
How much does a short week (Thursday Games) play into your lineup decisions? With 26 carries, do you play 30 year old T Jones Thurs at NE or go with the much fresher Addai in Houston?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:26 PM)
That's a great question. I don't expect Jones to have a great night against the Pats, since they are decent against the run, while Houston is not. And while Addai hasn't been able to carry the ball more than 17 times in a game this season, his past 3 efforts (all very poor ones) have come against decent run defenses (BAL, NE, PIT), so I think Addai should outperform Jones this week.
Miles (Duck Key, FL)
Is Marshawn Lynch still a legit starter? he has been letting me down and I am thinking of giving Ray Rice and/or DeAngleo Williams the call from now on...
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:28 PM)
It'd be hard to argue with Williams over Lynch, since both are getting a similar number of carries and Williams is doing more with them. That being said, you might actually want to start them both this week against two terrible run defenses (DET and CLE).
Tim (Latrobe, PA)
Thanks for the Goose Egg Berrian! For week 11 - PPR League: Berrian (@ TB), or Braylon (@BUF...on MNF on ESPN and ESPNHD)??? Thx.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:30 PM)
I'd go with Edwards in that one, since the Bucs pass D is pretty tough, and I would expect the Browns to attempt to get Edwards the ball more this week, after just one catch in Quinn's first start.
Dave (CA)
Does Deuce have any value for a non Bush owner once Reggie returns?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:31 PM)
I'm generally not high on Deuce in fantasy simply because the Saints haven't committed to the run this season and he just isn't the weapon he once was. So once Bush returns, I certainly don't like McAllister in fantasy.
Tom (PA)
Is Portis and Forte enought to carry me into the playoffs? I have SJax and then lost Torain to injuries. Not much on the wire these days and I'm wondering if I need to get desperate for a reliable 3rd RB.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:33 PM)
Obviously, an injury to either Portis or Forte would do you in right now, so it's not a bad idea to find someone just in case. That being said, if they DO stay healthy, you're golden. Two very solid starting RBs, including an absolute stud in Portis. Bet you're glad the Week 10 bye is over now.
Adam (WI)
Just got offered this trade: Addai and Chambers for Roy Williams.. Jump all over this? Or does Roy have a big second half when Romo comes back?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:35 PM)
I'd get on that deal, even if Addai isn't the same back he was last year. The Colts upcoming schedule is very RB-friendly (HOU, SD, CLE, CIN) and while Williams could have a big game here and there, since Romo will spread it around, I like the Addai/Chambers side much more.
Michael (GA)
C'mon Keith, let's not answer soft ball questions like the Addai/Chambers for Williams deal. Everyone knows the Addai side is light year better. Answer a tough question. Any concern the Titans rest Chris Johnson if/when the clinch homefield? They already have a 3 game lead in that race, and w/ CJ being a rookie and their best weapon, do they ease off him? I was offered Andre Johnson straight up? Non PPR, 4 point bonus 100 yard receving game.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:37 PM)
Definitely something to think about, and Chris Johnson has likely reached his peak value-wise, so if you need the WR help, Andre Johnson is very solid, regardless of whether his QB is Rosenfels or Schaub.
Jake(Florida)
Need RB help pick one of these guys from the wavier wire Ricky, Rhodes, Norwood, Young?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:40 PM)
It really depends on whether you plan on starting him every week, or if you just want depth, Jake.Since none are guaranteed to start anytime soon (Young would if he were healthy, but he's definitely not 100%), I think Rhodes is most likely to have a big game if Addai were to go down again.Williams will get touches and so will Norwood, each week ... so if you want guaranteed points (albeit possibly minimal), they are better choices. Very tough call.
Justin (Queens, NY)
Tip of the iceberg for Keller? I used him as a bye fill in for Cooley, but now I'm considering starting him...Farve says he's an incredible talent and will have a lot more 100yd games upcoming.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:42 PM)
Talented? No question. But this was really his first big game, despite all the praise Favre has heaped upon him throughout the season. Don't hesitate ... hang with Cooley.
Chris (Saratoga Springs)
Keith, don't you think Mewelde has earned the job in Pittsburg? Parker just needs to take a back seat since he can't seem to stay healthy...
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:43 PM)
I'm not sure if he's earned the job, since Parker has also been very good when he's healthy. But I think that even if/when Parker's back on the field as a starter, Moore deserves (and I think, will get) his touches. It would take some pressure off of Parker and help keep him fresher anyway.
Mike (Aliso Viejo, CA)
Keith, due to injuries I keep picking up QB's to back up Cutler (no worthy RB's or WR's on the waiver wire). I have Ryan, Orton, and Thigpen. Can you rank them for me (trying to make a trade for a backup RB)?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:45 PM)
Well, Ryan actually has a pretty favorable schedule the next 3-4 weeks, while Orton's coming off of injury so you'll have to find an owner who wants what Orton WAS doing before he got hurt. Thigpen is 3rd, although he's been very strong the past few games, so he could bring you a backup RB in a deal, especially if you sell that Thigpen goes up against the Saints pass D this week. Try that angle and good luck!
Dan (Philadelphia)
I?m getting tired of Cotchery and Avery?s disappointing performances as of late. I have Romo and Matt Ryan at QB already but Thigpen is available. Would I be well advised to drop one of my aforementioned WRs since I have Boldin, Hines Ward, Lance Moore, Walter and Roddy White on my roster (10 team non-PPR)?Thanks!
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:47 PM)
Yeah, I think Avery's going to be streaky at best anyway, so I'd drop him and at least you'd have a 3rd QB, just in case you need to use one of them as trade bait to help yourself elsewhere. You've already got two stud WRs in Boldin and White, who you have to start every week anyway.
Tim (MD)
PORTIS MIGHT MISS WEEK 11!!! Better handcuff for Portis owners: Alexander or Cartwright?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:50 PM)
If he does miss, I'd have to say Alexander, simply because he's the better goal-line option.
Frank (NJ)
Barber for Turner fair trade,i get Turner, like his playoff schedule?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:53 PM)
Definitely like Atlanta's upcoming schedule overall more than Dallas' ... and yeah, it's a fair deal. Barber will be helped by the return of Romo, though. Don't forget that element.
I AM TRADING FOR PORTIS WHAT SHOULD I DO
Trade. I GetPortis I Give: Cutler, Forte, DmC. I have Warner at qb so im good there. I only need Cutler for injury backup. I am trying to get ready for playoffs. Do I do it?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:54 PM)
Well, Portis' health is certainly a concern, considering all you're giving up. And Warner hasn't played 16 games since 2001, so if you were to do that trade, you should make sure to find a QB who can help (or at least pick up Leinart, since his weapons are so good). His current health status would give me some pause, though.
Chris (Cleveland)
Keith, Do you think Roethlisberger regains his Fantasy prowess this year. I have Delhomme as a backup and these two are making me nervous for the playoffs?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:56 PM)
I can see why you're nervous, Chris. Big Ben simply isn't healthy and he's tough enough to play through it, but you can tell he's just not right by watching him. And Delhomme was horrendous yesterday. He's always been a bit streaky, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to see if a better QB is available via trade in your league.
Greg (San Antonio)
Come on Keith... these people have terrible grammar! What kind of RB would you expect to get for Randy Moss?? I need help behind Portis.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:59 PM)
Well, Moss only has 4 TDs this season, so his value isn't anywhere near what we expected. That being said, there are always people who are blown away by the name and you might be able to get a No. 1-type back, depending on your leaguemates. Throw his name out there and see what offers you get back, and hope for the name to have nice value.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (4:01 PM)
OK, time for me to go into victory formation, pack it in and let Gary Horton take it from here. Thanks for the questions (and always for calling me out!). It's a good time every week. Have a great week, everyone!
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:03 PM)
Hello!
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:05 PM)
I think we are really starting to see who the elite teams are in this league now. I don't think there is any question that the Giants and Titans are a cut above the rest. Something that is really fascinating to me ... before the season started we all thought the elite teams were in the AFC and the NFL looked watered down. Now, as we are in the second half, I can't believe how many quality teams there are in the NFC. There are going to be some really good teams that don't make the playoffs. The AFC has been a disappointment in my mind.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Mr. Horton: Have you ever seen an NFL punt unit quite as bad as the Vikings? As a fan, it drives me INSANE.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:07 PM)
No. Their special teams have been horrible. It's surprising. Childress is a real detail coach that leaves no stone unturned. But yet they continue to look like a team that is sloppy without attention to detail.
Nizar (Emerson, NJ)
Hey Gary. Do you like the Giants make a repeat trip to the Super Bowl ? How?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:08 PM)
It's not going to be easy, but I think they are the most complete team in the NFL. What I love about them is they can play any style neccessary in any kind of weather. I think they will continue to win in the trenches. In my mind, they have the best OL and DL in the NFL. That allows them to control games. I think they pay such attention to detail that you just don't catch them with a lot of off days and they are not going to do things to beat themselves.
Titans1 (Tn)
Which team is better Titans or the Giants.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:11 PM)
I think the Giants are probably better because they are more explosive. They have more big play potential. And they have been there. They will never see a situation that they are not ready for. However, the Titans also have a portable gameplan. As we saw yesterday, if you want to stop their run game and make Collins beat you, he can. We know their defense will play well every week. They just haven't been in as many pressure situations as the Giants. But maybe that is good. They haven't seen the pressure as much, so maybe it won't affect them. I love the mental makeup of these two teams. They are so well coached and fundamentally sound. It's hard to see either one having a really bad day. Both are capable of winning when they don't play their best game.
chris (TEXAS)
who is going to win tonight? shootout? cards 31-17?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:13 PM)
I think the Cards will win and I think they will win comfortably. I really like the balance I'm seeing now. Rookie RB Tim Hightower looks like the real deal with really good explosiveness. I now see offensive balance and not just a one-dimensional passing game. They will attack the 49ers offense and as usual, Martz won't protect his QB and hurried throws will lead to INTs by Shaun Hill. This is a statement game on a big stage for the Cardinals and I think they fully realize that winning would give them a lead in the division but winning convincingly would show people they are for real.
Adam (Philly)
The Eagles dominated the NFC east in the early 2000s, now they cant buy a win against thier division. It seems like their division foes have built thier teams specifically to beat the Eagles. For example, the Eagles have a quick small dline, so the Giants, Cowboys, and Redskins just run the ball down thier throat every game. Is it time for a drastic change in Philly?? McNabb? Reid? Bring back Spags???
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:15 PM)
I think Philly's gameplan for success has worked well. It's just the other teams have decided they play in cold weather so they are going to be physical, grind it out offenses. Philly is lousy in short yardage and goaline situations. The lack of a true FB really hurts them. If their goaline package was bettera and could convert on third and short, they would have 3 more wins right now. Westbrook is great but he is not going to pound it out between the tackles near the goaline. It's a glaring weakness that they must overcome but doesn't look like they can do it now.
Chuck (TC)
What IS it with Mike Martz? I mean, yeah, he has a mean offense, but he does get QBs pummled. You would think such a "great offensive mind" would try and work that one kink out.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:17 PM)
I think he makes a conscious decision most weeks that he is going to run everybody possible out into routes to give his QB at least 4-5 options. The tradeoff is that there is marginal pass protection. If a defense blitzes, esp. off the edge, there is nobody to pick it up. It really looks to me like Martz sacrifices his QBs to make those cute offensive plays. It just doesn't look like an offense that has a chance to be consistent week in and week out.
Mike (Ohio)
With wins over New England and Pittsburgh, is Indy's playoff train officially gathering steam?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:19 PM)
I think the Colts will be competitive every week but their problems are still there. I don't see them picking up a lot of steam and all of a sudden becoming the powerhouse they were. I think they are a good team with some good weeks and bad weeks. They will have to fight to make it to the playoffs as a wild card which I think they can do. But their lack of size and physical style could hurt them late in the season.
Brandon (KC)
Will Herm Edwards keep his job once the season is over? Can KC win anymore games this season?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:21 PM)
It's hard to say because Herm is well liked by the front office and the Chiefs are really trying to sell the fact that they are rebuilding through the draft and therefore it's not Herm's fault they are losing. But I often wonder if he's not tired of it all and how badly does he want to stay and rebuild? They are not very close to be competitive. If they are trying to do it with young players, it could be 2-3 years. As good as the KC fans are, how much patience do they have?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Are you surprised at how well Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco have done to this point?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:22 PM)
I am somewhat suprised because while I liked them both in the draft, I wasn't sure they had enough parts around them to be successful. Flacco has a great defense and he doesn't really have to win every game for Baltimore to be successful. But Ryan has carried this Atlanta team on his back and he looks like a guy who has been playing for 10 years. He has real poise and not only does he carry them on the field, but he has become the face of the organization off the field. He seems to embrace that role.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:22 PM)

Justin (Los Angeles)
Do you think it is possible that the Lions could lose more games this season than the Pistons??
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:24 PM)
I look at their schedule and I think they could go 0-16. The Pistons would have to win about 65 games, right? My guess is the Pistons will have more losses than the Lions, but they are also a much better team.
Matt (Chicago)
I can't figure out why everyone is saying today that if you make Kerry Collins beat you he can...Don't people know ANYONE can throw on the Bears and their league worst pass defense??
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:26 PM)
If you look at his career, he has a lot of production over a long period of time. While he has had some rough spots, he can still throw it. I actually watched all of his passes this morning in the film room and not only was he accurate with good velocity, but he also was hitting his receivers out of their breaks. He anticipates when they are going to seperate and the ball is in the air throwing into a space where you don't see anyone until the last second. Those receivers have to love the fact they can catch the ball in stride which sets up lots of yards after the catch.
Jim(CA)
Are the Packers going to put it together in time to make the playoffs and do you think Mike McCarthy is making poor decisions at critical moments in games?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:28 PM)
I'm really disappointed with the Packers. They just don't have consistency on either side of the ball. Rodgers has played OK but I'm disappointed in the run game with Grant and the run defense which was so good a year ago. The DL is not close to what it was in '07. This just doesn't seem to be a team with a real identity. I just don't know what they can hang their hat on week in and week out. They look like a 8-8 team to me right now. But in the NFC North, who knows.
Jason (NYC)
Hi Gary, Can the Giants win it all with limited production from Burress. It looks as though Manning doesn't go his way as often because of the rolled coverage and not wanting to force things. Thoughts?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:30 PM)
Yes, I do. Their run game is so strong and the defense is so good. However, I think as we get deeper into the season and as the run game dominates, defenses will be forced to load up so much in the box that Burress is going to get good one on one matchups on the outside without safety help. While he may not get a ton of catches, he will get several big throws that could be the difference in some games. My guess is his catches from here to the SB are more about quality than quantity.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
A QB that hadn't had a start since H.S. and an undrafted RB now starting at tailback. Like him or not, Bill Belichick is the best coach in the game, isn't he?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:32 PM)
That's very difficult to argue against. They keep finding guys to plug in. With the Pats it is all about the system than the player. What I respect about them is they know more than any other team their own strengths and weaknesses and they adapt their gameplan to fit those specific skills. They just don't put guys in position to fail. They will adjust each week based on what they see in their opponents and I think they are the most thorough staff in the NFL when they get to Sunday.
Terry (Charlotte)
How far can Carolina go with that inconsistent excuse for a QB in Delhomme??
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:33 PM)
I think Delhomme is not as inconsistent as you think. He had a horrible day against the Raiders, yes, but I think the Panthers are very comfortable with him. His leadership skills may be better than his physical skills. But their style of play, he can be successful and carry this team farther than you think. If for some reason they lose and get knocked out of the playoffs, I'm not sure you can lay it all on him.
Chris (Saratoga Springs)
Gary, just a hunch but, do you think there is a problem with Peyton's arm? He looks like he has lost some zip in his passes, the pass to Wayne(tip) and the two potential td's to Harrison were clearly under thrown. I've watched all his games and it just looks like his arm is a little tired.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:35 PM)
That's a very interesting question. I've had several discussions with people who have said the same thing, that he may be hiding an injury. I don't see the same velocity when he needs to get the ball in a tight spot. I do think Harrison is slowing down which may lead us to believe some of those throws aren't very good. But nothing is coming out of the Colts in terms of an injury. But I agree, he doesn't quite look like the Peyton we have seen in the past. The touch is good, decisions are good, but I just don't see the same zip on the ball.
Craig (Norwich, CT)
Who has the advantage going into Thursday's game, New England or the Jets?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:37 PM)
I think the Pats just because they have won for so long in these types of games. They know exactly what they have in Cassel. They may not have the explosivemeness as the Jets but playing at home will help them. They could force Farve into some mistakes. I'm just not sure, as great as Favre is, that he can pick apart a Belichick defense. Ironically, I would probably say the Jets have more firepower on both sides of the ball but I'm not sure they know how to win in Foxboro.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:38 PM)
In closing, I think tonight's game is more interesting than some may think. This could be a real coming out party for the Cardinals. Their first great chance to show people how good they are and that they are here to stay. They can make a statement in front of a national audience. They have a very exciting offense and it will be fun to watch them play with emotion at home. Thanks for your questions!
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:42 PM)
Ken Moll is coming up next at 5 ET so keep your questions coming!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (4:59 PM)
Doug here, filling in for Ken Moll - who is flying home after being gone for the weekend. Lets keep this MNF chat going strong..
Jordan (Madison, WI)
Do you think its time for the Pack to relieve Mike McCarthy of his play calling duties?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:00 PM)
No.. No one knows the offense like McCarthy does and he has a good relationship with Rodgers and understands his strengths and weaknesses better than most. They just need to do a better job of executing on offense. It's the players, baby..
chris (TX)
Oh great, its Ken Moll time! This guy is the worst. Gotta be a baseball/hockey analyst or something...dude makes no sense.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:01 PM)
You have some issues with Mr. Moll?? He has a lot of experience in football, both as a college coach as well as an NFL scout.. He knows the game.
dave (philly)
andy reid needs to get fired ASAP!!! Thoughts???
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:04 PM)
I have a lot of respect for both Reid and DC Jim Johnson.. they are both excellent coaches.. Sometimes what is needed is a change of environment. Andy has had a lot on his plate the past couple of years and may need to get away from the game for a year, or two.. Immediately?? No, it rarely does any good to fire a coach (especially a good one) in the middle of the season. Let him finish this season out and see how it goes.
Tom (Chicago)
Moll rocks! How about a fantasy question: Trade MJD for Chris Johnson in a PPR league?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:05 PM)
Don't know what a PPR league is.. However I do think Johnson will be really strong as he finishes out this season. The success they had with their passing attack this past weekend will soften up opponent's run defense.
Ryan
aaron rodgers didnt have a good game yesterday. you could say that the safeties he took cost us the game. do you think green bay can come back and win the division?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:09 PM)
Yes, they can.. However it is now out of their own hands. The have to rely on Chicago faltering and watch out for a revitalized Minnesota team.. I have a feeling that only one team is going to come out of the NFC North, so they will have to win it outright to make it to the playoffs..
not all wisconsin ppl talk as Scott Van Pelt says we do (Madison
What's up Doug? What do you think the Green Bay Packers need to do in order to become dominant again on offense? We can't run because McCarthy shys away from it all the time? Or do we become a pass-oriented team like last season with Favre utilizing the best wide receiving core in the league?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:11 PM)
The Pack needs a Jacobs type of ball carrier.. Grant is looking like a one year wonder and they need a big, buldozer type of running back that can move the pile in November and December (and the footing is slippery).. Their O line is built more for pass protection than power running.. It will take a while to change over to a run oriented team.
Bud B. (Chicago)
Dude, how do you not know what a PPR league is. You're on a fantasy football website. Moll rocks!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:13 PM)
Dude? Dude??? Bud, this is a monday night football chat room. Fantasy leagues was from 3-4 east coast time.
Mark (NJ)
Which of these WRs will have a decent week: T.O. , Antonio Bryant, Kevin Curtis, Donnie Avery, or Eddie Royal?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:16 PM)
I'd put it between Curtis and Avery and give the nod to Curtis going up against a weak secondary in Cincy..
J Krev (Milwaukee, WI)
Lots of Wisco talk today! Love it! Hey Doug - who will put up better numbers the rest of the way between Brandon Marshall and Andre Johnson? Both have tasty schedules, but should be we concerned about Sage throwing to Andre? Or Eddie Royal stealing targets or Denver weather? Thanks!Oh, and I think Ryan Grant is a great RB. McCarthy and Rodgers refuse to commit to the run!! Thoughts?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:19 PM)
I like Johnson.. Yes, I'm concerned about Sage, but Johnson can make a bad throw look good. I like Grant, but don't see him as being great..He needs a strong passing game to take some of the pressure off of his ground game.
Mark (NJ)
I know its still early in the season but how likely do you think it is for us to have a Giants - Titans Super Bowl?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:20 PM)
Still early but that is my pick, at this point.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:21 PM)
Their line is no smaller than Indy's.. They just need their players to do a better job of tackling in space and limiting the ball carrier's options when it comes to finding running lanes.. The players need to make plays!
Fresh Wes (Los Angeles)
Do you think there will be more underclassmen declaring for the draft due to rumors of an NBA-like rookie salary slot system? This could hurt teams like the Cowboys who traded a lot of picks for WR Roy Williams.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:23 PM)
That is a concern in the NFL (as well as college coaches).. I really don't think it will have that much of an effect. There are only 32 picks per round and even though most players have a higher estimation of their own skills they have a better chance of getting a big contract if they grow, mature and become better players through five years in college.
Pete NY
Speaking of Roy Williams, do you think the tandem of him and TO will help the Cowboys get back on track with the return of Romo?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:25 PM)
We will definately see an increase of their downfield passing when Romo returns and RW will take some of the attention away from TO which should make both of them more dangerous.
Pete NY
Ravens @ Giants this week... How do you see the game playing out?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:26 PM)
Ravens will struggle to score and NYG will keep pounding the rock with their three headed monster.. Baltimore will slow down the Gmen's ground game but not enough to win the game.
David B (NY)
Mr Kretz...it's the Super Bowl, 2 minutes to go, your team is down 5. What QB do you want to lead your team on the last drive?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:27 PM)
Is Brady healthy, again?? If not, I'd take Favre..
hondo (oakland)
is there a bigger train wreck than the Raiders?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:28 PM)
The Washington Huskies (although I'm not sure the Huskies couldn't beat the Raiders).
Bob (Chicago)
Whats up with my Bears pass D? Is it fixable? I sure am missing Ron Rivera right now.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:31 PM)
Not enough of a pass rush. They need to blitz Urlacher and Briggs more often..
randy (alaska)
broncos or chargers in the west?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:32 PM)
I like the Chargers.. I think Rivera will get the D blitzing and making plays.
Mike (Phoenix)
You'd take Favre? What year is it?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:32 PM)
I know.. He's ancient - but he still has some magic in him, especially late in games.
Steve PA
What do You think the chances are that Gore will get at leat 2 TDs tonight,as well as over 120 total yds.?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:33 PM)
Neither will happen
Zack (South Carolina)
Will the Carolina Panthers make it to the super bowl this year?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:34 PM)
Not the way they played yesterday.. No, I see them loosing in the second round.
Paul (Denver)
Blitzing Briggs and Urlacher won't fix that mess. Lovie and Babich are too stubborn to blitz safeties and cornerbacks. Way too predictable!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:35 PM)
No question they need to bring a DB now and then, too.. But the sacks need to come from those two..
Eric (NC)
Any chance Drew stanton starts in Detroit next week?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:37 PM)
I'd like to see it happen but I don't see it.. they spent way too much money bringing in Culpepper and have to stick with him for the rest of this season.
Gifford Ocean NJ
I have a trade for you. I Get: Portis. I Give: Cutler Forte Darren McFadden. I will be keeping Cutler for injury insurance since I have Warner. Have you seen anything with your scouts eye? Hows Portis with his knee. Do I do this?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:39 PM)
I'd take Portis.. He is a warrior.. Zorn knows that his ground game has to work in order to take pressure off the pass rush..
Tony (Chicago)
What's up with Santonio Holmes? Is it time to drop him for someone like Walter or Rashied Davis, Toomer or Ginn
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:39 PM)
I like Ginn for the rest of this season. He is coming on strong.
Jacob Taylor (Mi)
Hey heres my prediction, and i am not even a Lions fan. Come thanksgiving, the Lions will beat the Undefeated Titans, so the lions will recieve their first win and the Titans their first loss
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:39 PM)
WOW
George (Chicago)
Why bring in Culpepper when you're a defeated team? Shouldn't Detroit look to develop Stanton for the future? Culpepper isn't going to win you division titles.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:40 PM)
It was a desperate move by people that are trying to save their jobs for next year.
Spencer Belyea (Toronto, Ontario)
Should Kerry Collins be thought of as a MVP candidate?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:40 PM)
Not based on one game.. No, it's either Portis or Haynesworth (my choice).
Justin (Queens)
Douggie Fresh...what's up? The Jets D has look pretty good the last few weeks. We know the Offense can score points and they have a plus special teams unit/coach. Do you feel they've improved enough (and will continue to)to be legitimate playoff contenders?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:42 PM)
Mangini (and D coordinator Bob Sutton) finally have guys that fit their scheme (3-4 defense) and they are learing to play together. they are gelling at just the right time - good chance to make it..
Bryan (New Orleans, LA)
Do the Saints have any shot at the playoffs?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:43 PM)
Slim and none after this past weekend..
Jon Long Beach, CA
Need help...would you start Jones-Drew vs. Tennesee or would you reccomend I pick up a free agent like Ricky Williams against oakland or Norwood against atlanta ?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:44 PM)
Don't go with Jones-Drew against Haynesworth and co. I'd go with Williams against Oakland
Trent (Cleveland)
How impressed are you with the Giants running game? Ahmad Bradshaw would be RB1 on a lot of teams....
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:45 PM)
Best top 3 running back stable in the league, bar none..
matt (San Francisco)
Whats the deal with Tennessee,..they have Kerry Collins in as starting QB still? What happend to Vince Young?I remember reading all about his injuries, but I guess he also was having some mental problems on and off the field..but what happend since then? I havent heard anything!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:47 PM)
The deal is that they are 9-0 with Collins at QB.. Especially after this past weekend, why would they bench Collins?? Yes, Young could be having a hard time handling the pressure of the NFL and he needs to sit back and learn.
Matt (Miami)
Does Hill step in and do a good job for SF tonight? If he's the best they got, how come he didn't begin the season as the starter?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:47 PM)
He's the best of a weak QB corps..
Jack (Richmond Hill)
Am I crazy to think the Jets match up pretty well with the Titans (looking forward to week 12)? I think the Jets, with a stifling run defense and unherelded secondary, can take them down. Your thoughts?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:49 PM)
I think it will be a great match-up. In fact I will be handling that one next week.. I think, in the end, it will come down to home field advantage for Tenn..
Mike(Utica,NY)
Matt Ryan for MVP if he leads Atlanta to a 11-5 records and throws for over 20 TD's and 3,500 yards.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:49 PM)
I love the way Ryan is playing.. But at this point he is not carrying the team like Portis does in DC or Haynesworth does in Tenn..
Jason (Omaha)
Help me Doug! Looks like Clinton Portis is only 50/50 for Sunday with a bone bruise/ankle sprain. I need a RB - best I have to chose from are Kevin Smith, C. Benson, or J. Fargas
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:52 PM)
Ouch.. Not much to choose from.. I believe Portis will play in that important match-up against Dallas.. However if you need to make a change I'd go with Smith
Mangini (a-ohh)
How about Jenkins for MVP? or D-MVP at least... or is Haynesworth that much of a beast?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:53 PM)
Haynesworth is forcing opposing offensive coordinators to game plan him.. He can plug up the middle as well as rush the passer..
Don (St Louis)
Isn't it a bit unfair that the NFC East is so stacked? Dallas has a winning record yet is in last place!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:55 PM)
It goes in cycles..
Tony (Brooklyn, NY)
Ravens are the toughest team for the Giants on the schedule. Stop the run better than PIT and don't have an offensive line that the Giants can abuse. Also, Ray Rice is a bad matchup and Aaron Ross is going to be picked on. Just my thoughts.
Will (St Louis)
Is St Louis that bad or is it just the coaching staff?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:57 PM)
Bad drafts the past few years..
Matt (California)
Chris Johnson Rookie of the year? Any thoughts?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:57 PM)
he'd be a good pick if Ryan (Atlanta) wasn't playing so well..
Can't wait for kickoff (Canada)
Hi! What kind of stats do you expect from Hightower tonight? Full load or time share duty?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:58 PM)
Primary ball carrier.. Should get over 100 yards..
Will J (Portland, OR)
Any word on when Hasslebeck will return for Seattle?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:59 PM)
One more week from what I hear..
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (5:59 PM)
Time is up.. Thanks for the questions.. I'll be back in an hour..
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:01 PM)
Hey kids. Are you ready for awesome? And by awesome, of course, I mean the SF-ARI tilt tonight.
Brian(WI)
Which would be a better pick-up the rest of the season between Ricky Williams and Justin Fargas?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:02 PM)
That's a tough one. I'm going to go with Fargas since I think there's a better chance that he gets the rock on a game-by-game basis than Williams does. You wouldn't know it from last week, though...
MIKE
Enough talk about unworthy rookies of the year, no one has made a bigger impact on their team than DeSean Jackson. Say what you want about Matt Ryan, without Turner, he's nobody. Jackson is the reason why the eagles are competitive this year. Rookie WR's tend to take time to break into the NFL, he has done nothing but prove that theory wrong. Please tell me you agree?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:03 PM)
Um, what? Really? The dude who spiked the ball before he got into the end zone? I mean, Jackson's helped that offense, but if you think Jackson's really the Rookie of the Year, you might be an owner of Paddy's.
Will J (Portland, OR)
Bill, I realize you never know how a team will turnout when schedule games, but common sense would've told me that putting Arizona v. San Fran on MNF, wasn't a good choice.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:04 PM)
I assume that the scheduling of ARI-SF as the Monday night tilt was an attempt to combat West Coast bias. In all seriousness, this should be a fun game. Both teams have offenses that can dial it up and secondaries that can falter.
Mike(Utica,NY)
Is Eddie Royal going to be the next Terry Glenn(Big rookie year, then average career) or Steve Smith?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:06 PM)
It depends. Does he get to draw single coverage across from Brandon Marshall like Smith did across from Muhsin Muhammad at first? I think Royal will be a very fine wide receiver, although he looks better considering that he's in single coverage on almost every play.
dave miami
who's better in the short-term and for the long run, shaun hill or tyler thigpen?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:07 PM)
Thigpen. Hill doesn't get to keep the 49ers job after this season ends unless he establishes a totally new level of ability. No one might get out alive in San Francisco after this season ends.
Roel Torres (Somerville, MA)
What will it take for Al Davis to turn the Raiders' fortunes around?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:07 PM)
Trust.
Luc(Lebanon, Indiana)
will Hightower have a good game tonight?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:08 PM)
Should be pretty good. The 49ers rush defense is decent, but they're also likely going to be behind and Hightower should get plenty of chances to run out the clock. Maybe something like 22-90-1?
brandon (santa barbara,CA)
Looking ahead towards my playoffs (weeks 14,15,16), would it be better to trade Andre Johnson for Frank Gore, Matt Forte, or Thomas Jones. Or would it be better to keep him?? My RB are Joseph Addai and Tim Hightower and WR are Anquan Boldin/Santonio Holmes/Dwayne Bowe/Eddie Royal.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:09 PM)
C'mon Brandon, I just wrote a column about this stuff last week! Check out Football Outsiders Fantasy Matchups every Thursday on ESPN Fantasy Football. I don't think any of those guys are fair value for Johnson.
Roel Torres (Somerville, MA)
Trust? Uh, who is he supposed to trust? An how will that improve things?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:10 PM)
Anyone. He needs to find someone who he trusts to run the franchise and let them do it. It will improve things because they could not possibly be worse.
Mike(Utica,NY)
Is Matt Ryan the best Rookie QB you have ever seen? Do you think he could get a Probowl invite this year?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:11 PM)
Nah. Philip Rivers was better (albeit not as a "true" rookie). Ryan's stuck in a conference with a lot of great quarterbacks, but I think he deserves to at least be in the Pro Bowl running.
Casey (Delaware)
For week 11, my QB choices are Jason Campbell vs. the Cowboys, Sage Rosenfels vs. the Colts, and Joe Flacco vs. the Giants. Which of these guys is the lesser evil?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:12 PM)
Campbell. Dallas' secondary isn't great, although getting Newman back admittedly helps some.
Mike (Utica,NY)
I figured being Mike from Utica would help! Should I trade away Portis now for C Johnson and L white?? I would have to give up S Holmes as well. Thanks
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:13 PM)
Eh. I know there are rumors about Portis having a sprained knee, but I don't think acquiring Johnson and White is a good move -- you can't play them both. I dealt Portis last week, so I can't say that I don't at least like the idea.
Erik (Omaha)
Evening Bill! Might need an emergency backup for Portis this weekend, who is better, Ray Rice, Kevin Jones, J. Lewis, J. Fargas or C. Benson. Need to pick one up off the wire, just in case
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:14 PM)
I'd do Lewis against Buffalo.
Geoff W (Kansas City, MO)
What do you make of Tyler Thigpen in Kansas City?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:15 PM)
Doing surprisingly well. The offense is pretty limited, and I don't think he's their future quarterback or anything, but he's at least keeping them in games. Also, I know I say this every week but: If you ask the same question ten times a minute, I guarantee you I won't answer it. Save yourself the clicks.
RedBird (Az)
Cardinals? Superbowl?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:16 PM)
After the Giants last year, anything is possible.
Mike (Utica,NY)
Thanks for answering! Any chance you tell me who you traded for?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:17 PM)
I dealt Portis and Houshmandzadeh for Lee Evans and Ronnie Brown. It's pretty speculative.
Tom (Indy)
Who has the better night? Josh Morgan or Isaac Bruce?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:18 PM)
I like Ike.
Shawn (Sacramento, Ca)
Better chance to comeback strong this week, Lynch or Slaton?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:19 PM)
Lynch. Houston seems insistent that Slaton will split time with the decaying corpse of Ahman Green for reasons uknown.
Grant (Indy)
Is there any defensive player better than Charles Woodson right now? He has shut down T.O., Wayne, and Jennings that I can think of off the top of my head.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:19 PM)
Nnamdi Asomugha blows Charles Woodson away. It's not even close.
John Fullerton, CA
Hey Bill, love the footballoutsiders columns, you guys are helpful. Question have to start one player D-Jack against cincinatti, Ocho Cinco home against philly, or Vincent Jackson playing @ pittsburgh...what do you think ? I'm thinking of taking a roll of the dice and take the talent in Ocho Cinco
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:20 PM)
I like Jackson against Cincy there, actually. That secondary is awful.
brooding
no matter what i do, my belts are just never studded enough and my shirts never have witty enough sayings on them. could you point me to an alternative to hot topic?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:21 PM)
There should be a cliff you can jump off of somewhere near you.Kids, don't let your counterculture blow up.
Matt Brentwood CA
Does Torry Holt, despite his awful fantasy #'s, warrant a start next week at SF?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:22 PM)
I dunno. He should draw a good amount of Nate Clements, which will hinder him, but I think he's a decent WR2 in some leagues. Depends on who your other options are, I guess.
Jake (wheeling wv)
do you think the 49ers should choose a QB with their 1st round draft pick?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:23 PM)
That worked out so well last time, right? I would say that if they can find a quarterback with a great Lewin Career Forecast in the first round, I'd grab him.
MIKE
Hey Bill, no I don't own Paddys, but its hard for me to believe that Jackson isn't getting the love he deserves. People in the media rave about other rookies like Eddie Royal, chris yawn-son (because he bores me to death), matt 40, these guys are good but not as dynamic as Jackson. Jackson gives you a legitimate threat in special teams, catching the ball, as well as running the ball. Oh yea he does this at 5'9 and under 2 bills. A little respect is all Im asking for without bringing up petty mistakes.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:25 PM)
A petty mistake is when you forget to do the dishes or something, not when you almost cost your team a touchdown.I don't get why Chris Johnson bores you to death. He's one of the most entertaining players in the league to watch and way more valuable to his team than Jackson. Jackson's probably a little behind Royal.
Jay in Houston
What's your thoughts on Addai going forward?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:25 PM)
It'd be a welcome change from him going backward.
Ryan (AZ)
Will the Cowboys make the playoffs? If so how far will they go?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:25 PM)
Cowboys go 10-6, miss playoffs on tiebreaker.
MJ (Chicago)
Da Bears covered Da Pass something Da Awful. Poor coaching in my mind. Too stuck on that Cover Two and too stubborn to adjust. Titans did, Bears did not. Ballgame. Any of these guys droppable now: Holt, Santonio, Schaub, Deuce, S. Morris -FOR- Brady Quinn, Kevin Walter, Ricky Williams, Norwood? Thanks guys.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:27 PM)
I dunno. Bears run a lot less Cover-2 than they used to. They were lining up their corners in man coverage and stuffin the box and the Titans were throwing slants, which they wouldn't be throwing against the Cover-2.I think you can drop Schaub, Deuce, and Morris, although I wouldn't pick up any of those guys except maybe -- maybe -- Brady.
Ed Turtle (Ohio)
I live in Ohio and root for the Raiders and I might be engaged. Is there any hope for me?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:28 PM)
Have you considered pretending to be the witness to a crime and joining the Witness Protection Program?
kyle (OR)
keeper league...i've got injured brady, orton and schaub. now i need a new quarterback rest of the year. thigpen, rosenfels, flacco, or edwards?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:29 PM)
Thigpen's got the best schedule and the best hold on his job. I'd say him. Edwards is right behind him in both senses.
vinh(VIETNAM)
we love our nfl in vietnam...got a trade question...i read your portis trade..guess you might approve of this one...im giving barber and plaxico for L.T. and lee evans...good trade for me you think? thanks
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:30 PM)
Awesome, Vinh. I think that's a decent trade -- the Giants appear to be phasing Burress out of their lineup to an extent, and Evans has a much better schedule to work against. You're buying low on LT, but we can all dream that he'll get better.
Jesse (Cleveland, OH)
What is your view on this, if two owners make a deal, there is no collusion going on, the owners barely know each other, but the other teams in the league find the deal unfair, should they veto it because they find the deal unfair. I am a third place team, and I dealt a 3rd to last place team, Ryan Grant, Deuce, his handcuff in Ray Rice, and Chris Chambers for Andre Johnson and Tony Scheffler. The league vetoed it. Should I move on or did I get the bad end of the stick?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:31 PM)
That's not a particularly awful trade. I cant' fathom why the other team would do it, but it's not terrible.
mike San Francisco
Hello. What happened to Chris Chambers yesterday? No catches? It killed me this week.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:32 PM)
I promised I wouldn't say any mean things about Chris Chambers this year.
Phil Rippa (Alexandria, VA)
If we use the National League voting criteria, does that make JaMarcus Russell eligible for NFL ROTY?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:33 PM)
What, are you bitter that like Lastings Milledge didn't win NL ROY or something?
timbo (honolulu)
whats up with Steve Slaton's 7 yards yesterday?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:33 PM)
Baltimore defense + Kubiak desire to split carries.
zac
Chiefs question. I love the 2pt conversion attempt to win the game yesterday. However, the play that was called was horrible! Yeah we didnt make it and all my boys are talkin smack on the attempt instead of tryin to send the game into OT. Does it really matter when your 1-7. Thoughts?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:35 PM)
OK. I'm 100% with you on this one Zac. What do you think is more likely to work?A) Trying to score from the two-yard line with all the momentum from a long driveB) Hoping to get the ball back on the coin toss and driving the length of the field for a field goal OR driving for another touchdownC) Trying to stop the fourth-best offense in the league who's already scored four times on you.I think A) is the path of least resistance.
Jake Delhomme (North Carolina)
How the hell do we still win. I go 7 for 27 and throw 4 picks. Are my panthers that good or are the Raiders that bad. And should my fantasy owners be worried?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:35 PM)
He threw at Nnamdi Asomugha and angered the football gods. It's his own fault. A week of penance and he'll be fine.
Don (Michigan)
Does the loss of Adalius Thomas change the Pats gameplan as far as ball control is concerned?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:36 PM)
Hmmm... good question. I think they're going to still have to run the same offensive scheme because they don't really have a choice -- the playbook, while expanding, has already been significantly pared down for Cassel. My biggest concern now is who they use in pass coverage. Mayo can't do everything.
Xavier Ruger
Are the officials really blowing that many more important calls this year? Or are we starting to get too big an advantage on them with all the tv angles. As a San Diego fan, I can name 3 game changing calls including last night.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:37 PM)
I think it's maybe a couple more calls than normal, but they seem to all be against the Chargers. You poor guys are getting jobbed.
MJ (Chicago)
Last point on my Bears and I'll shut up: they left more routes open than just slants. Out patterns and sideline passes were getting open (not always thrown to by Collins, but guys were open) all day too. Just think Lovie was too dead-set on stuffing the run, which worked tremendously well, and if it wasn't scheme (I think it was) than it was personnel (could be...Mike Brown not as strong in coverage). Orton returning next week for the showdown at Lambeau, or will it be Tryandcompleteapass Rex?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:38 PM)
I think the Bears were willing to challenge Collins to throw those outs. I think Orton makes it back next week. His injury wasn't as bad as it appeared, and quarterbacks can play on bum ankles.
Mike(Utica,NY)
Is Asomugha the best corner in the league?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:38 PM)
I don't think it's even particularly close.
Matt (Tampa)
I own got Westbrook as my #1 back in one league and being offered him for a legit WR in another league... do you think he will be good down the stretch or is he pulling an LT kind-of year?!
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:39 PM)
I wouldn't count on huge numbers. He's hurting, they're missing Shawn Andrews, and they have a tough schedule.
Dan (NYC)
This just in....apparently, the Jets signed Ty Law. Good move? Does Law have anything left in the tank to coin an old Parcells saying?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:40 PM)
Interesting. I think -- and I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist on this one -- maybe they sign Law to keep him away from New England.
Jesse (Cleveland, OH)
The reason the owner did it was because his RBs are Willis McGahee, a banged up Earnest Graham, and Leon Washington. And despite AJ being great, he has won 3 games this year. I offered him essentially three starters for his one and his back-up TE.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:40 PM)
Well, there's the context.
Mike Singletary (Phoenix ARIZONA)
Who do you think i should send to the showers early tonight?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:40 PM)
Jonas Jennings.
Paul (MN)
why wont Eli throw Plax the football, im sure there are more frustrated fantasy plax owners out there
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:41 PM)
Eli Manning doesn't care about fantasy football owners. Or babies.Plax doesn't practice and he's being ostracized by his entire team at the moment. Not a good environment. Plus, Eli likes throwing to Smith.
Dan (NYC)
You might be onto something Bill, but does Law improve the Jets D?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:42 PM)
Not really. I think it's pretty astounding that Justin Miller can't even get on the field and they're signing Law, though.
Brian (Denver)
Does Arizona cover the spread tonight (-10)?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:43 PM)
Ooh. I'm going to say...yes.
Jimmy McNulty (B-More)
Is my hometown team going to win the division?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:43 PM)
Yes, although it's going to be close.
Don(Michigan)
I was surprised the Pats didn't try to go after DeAngelo Hall to shore up their secondary, do you think that would have been a positive move?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:44 PM)
They did go after him. Hall wanted to play close to home, and DC is closer to Virginia than Mass.
Josh (California)
Does Tony Romo coming back automatically make dallas a playoff team again?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:45 PM)
A playoff-caliber team, maybe, but I don't know if they can catch up at this point. There's also no guarantee that Romo comes back at 100%.
Paul (MN)
Vikings, Packers, or Bears. who has the nfc north??
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:46 PM)
Is "Not the Lions" an acceptable answer? No?I'll say Green Bay.
Clay (Midlothian, VA)
Do you think Hightower will really produce in the NFL or was last weeks game a fluke?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:47 PM)
He'll be a fine NFL running back. He has an excellent Speed Score, albeit one generated from a Pro Day number as opposed to the Combine.
Gregoriah!
I think you could make a case that Brees is the best QB in the league. What do the saints have to do to build a winning team around him?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:47 PM)
Fix the secondary. And on the cheap, since they're capped out.
Samuel (Yorba Linda, CA)
Hey Bill Barnwell. Last week I asked you what the Dolphins should do with the Wildcat. You said they should only use it 1-2 times a game. Was yesterday's success due to poor Seahawk defense or new wrinkles?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:48 PM)
Poor defense, unless one of the new wrinkles of the Wildcat was a boring machine that allowed Ricky Williams to run 60+ yards without having to break a tackle.
Joshua (Santa Clarita, CA)
Who is the least terrible team in the AFC West?Do you think its possible that the team who wins the division has a 8-8 record or worse?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:49 PM)
San Diego, and I could definitely see them winning the division at 8-8. In which case, whatever team finishes last in the NFC East should ransack their offices and pose in their jerseys.
John (ND)
Do you see Derek Anderson getting moved? Where?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:51 PM)
He'll be a free agent after the year and get to choose his next destination. The issue is that there aren't a lot of teams who need a quarterback. The only teams likely to be looking for a starter after this season are Kansas City, Minnesota, maybe Detroit, and San Francisco. He's not a good fit for Minnesota, so if he wants to start, it's going to be for a bad team.Sleeper move: He goes to New England to back up Brady and step in when Brady isn't ready at the beginning of the season.
Paul (MN)
Vikings should go after Anderson. They need someone there. Frerrote will not last much longer with his social security set to kick in
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:52 PM)
They need someone, true, but Anderson's an inaccurate quarterback with a big arm. They need someone who's accurate and can make the West Coast throws reliably. That would've been Pennington, but alas, they didn't grab him.
Janet (Milton, Delaware)
For next week, could you please pick two of these three: Addai, Magahee or Green-Ellis. Thanks!
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:53 PM)
Addai and Green-Ellis. Definitely.
John (Miami)
Ted Ginn Jr has been pretty impressive the last few weeks. Do you think this kid will ever live up to his #9 pick status?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:53 PM)
Honestly, not really. He's going to be a good deep threat, but his ceiling is #2 receiver on a good team. That's not what you want your #9 pick to turn into.
Joshua (Santa Clarita, CA)
Do you think that any college team in the nation can beat an NFL Team?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:54 PM)
Depends, do you consider the Lions an NFL team?In all seriousness, no. If you took any of the guys on the Lions, they would be stars in college. You can't say the same thing about guys in the pros.
Don(Michigan)
Then where does Cassel go in that scenario?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:55 PM)
San Francisco to start.
Mike (Ohio)
What on earth did Willis McGahee mean when he said this: "They took our bye week, so we had to come out there and show 'em that they can throw obstacles at us and we'll just try to overcome them."
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:55 PM)
Maybe he meant they were Hurricane Ike?
Andrew(nm)
is Demarcus Ware the best outside linebacker in the league
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:57 PM)
That's tough. I would say yes, probably, but I think Shawne Merriman was better in 2006 than Ware is now. Maybe Merriman comes back that good, maybe he doesn't.I think Lance Briggs is in that discussion, as is Michael Boley and Derrick Johnson.
Morris (Pittsburg)
mjd for rogers...fair trade?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:58 PM)
Nah man, Charles Rogers is out of the league and Shaun Rogers isn't that great an IDP guy.
Joshua (Santa Clarita, CA)
Who should be the #1 draft pick? Why?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:59 PM)
Should? Geez. How about this: Matt Stafford will be the first pick. It'll be either Kansas City or Detroit.
Nathan (MN)
I thought Anderson got a new deal? NFL Network reports they will try and trade him by March 15, 09 or else he gets a 5 mil bonus.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:59 PM)
They'll cut him before he sees that bonus. Cleveland has no trade leverage since every team in the league knows that they can't pay him that bonus.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:59 PM)
Alright everyone -- thanks for the questions and enjoy the game tonight.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:01 PM)
OK folks back to football chat (not fantasy league).. This game coud end up being a more entertaining game than most give it credit for..
Bryant (CA)
Are Braylon and Ocho Cinco going to make comebacks?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:02 PM)
I have more faith in Edwards making a comeback than Ocho Flunko..
Joe Crawford (Kansas)
Does Tyler Thigpen remind you of a Rich Gannon type of QB
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:02 PM)
I can see that comparison.. but it may be premature, at this point.
Matt (New York)
What do you believe the final score could be tonight?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:05 PM)
Arizona 31 - SF 17
Nathan (MN)
Do you think Matt Leinart is learning as much from sitting as Aaron Rodgers or angry because he isn't playing?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:06 PM)
I think he is learning.. Whisenhunt is not going to put up with a pouting or angry backup..
Don(Michigan)
How much of an impact will Steve Breaston have on tonights game?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:08 PM)
I think he will have a huge impact.. SF has two quality cover corners who will be trying to lock down Fitzgerald and Boldin which can leave a lot of open room for Breaston for the leftovers..
John (Westchester)
The Buffalo Bills have possibly been proven as the biggest frauds in the NFL (They cannot beat anyone with a winning record) - with that said, in comes the Browns and their internal "quitting" issues....I say they beat Buffalo Sunday night - your thoughts???
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:09 PM)
Impossible
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:10 PM)
Actually, Cleveland COULD beat the Bills but it would have to be on Monday night.. I don't see that happening, in Buffalo, though.. What could be the deciding factor could be special teams.. Buffalo has the best and Cleveland may have the best return specialist in the NFL..
Bruce (CT)
is brady quinn the future for the browns?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:11 PM)
Yes, it is looking like it.. They are going to have to live or die with him..
bo (wausau wi)
the pass that grossman got itersepted was not really an interseption because that player step out of bounds
Samuel (CA)
Is the NFC officially the better conference now?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:14 PM)
No, I'd take Tennessee, Pitt, NE over NYG, Carolina and Arizona.. The NFC may be better at the middle and bottom, but I don't see it, at the top..
phillyphan
why didnt andy reed try a pass agenst the giants who are known to have a good run defense.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:16 PM)
He did.. 36 passes compared to 21 runs..
Kevin (Houston, Tx)
Who do you like better for the rest of the year: Gore or Chris Johnson? Thanks.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:17 PM)
I'd go with Johnson.. He is staying healthy, thanks in part to sharing the load.
Don(Michigan)
I have a nominee for Coach Singletarys nickname..."The Stare".. we had The Scowl" in Pittsburgh why not..
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:18 PM)
I thought you had "the chin" in Pitt..
Tom ( topeka)
Is NE that good or are they just a product of a schedule in which they play the AFC West and the NFC west
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:18 PM)
They are good.. Best coaching in the NFL and coaching accoounts for a lot.
Don(Michigan)
How much of an impact will the weather have on determining who goes to the playoffs this year?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:19 PM)
minimal.. It's the players, baby!!
Bill Cowher (Retired for now)
I thought it was The Spit
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:19 PM)
lol
George ( Minnesota )
How many combined points do you think tonight's game will end up? I see it as high scoring. If it low scoring, I see San Francisco actually close. If it is a shootout, Arizona wins. Your thoughts???
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:20 PM)
41 points.
Vinnie (NYC)
Is Eli a great QB or is he protected by a great offensive line?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:20 PM)
Combination of the two.. Remember he had the same O line 2-3 years ago.. Plus his O line has been healthy all year which is a big plus..
Randy (Baltimore)
don't they go hand in hand
Mike (Toledo)
Doug, where do the Browns go from here? Being a Browns fan is real tough right now. Thank god for LeBron.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:22 PM)
I think they may make a big run for Cowher, but Bill wants total control and that may be hard for Savage to give up.. Also look to Iowa (Ferentz).
Michael ( Arizona )
I am having a bad feeling Gore will get the job done... Please assure me my Cards win?!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:22 PM)
Gore will get some yards but Arizona will win the game.
Jon (Mo)
Who should I start next week Cutler or Ryan?? oh and should I start Ginn Jr., M.Jenkins, or D. Mason
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:23 PM)
Cutler.. Jenkins
Jon (Mo)
I think denver should fire shanny and go after bill cowher!!
Mike(Philly)
How many td passes do you think warner will have?? and to what wideouts
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:24 PM)
three 2-LF, 1-Breaston
Cameron (Charlotte)
Do you think the Panthers will make the playoffs?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:24 PM)
Yes, but they have to do better than they did against the Raiders..
Albert Einstein (Graveyard)
You predicted 31+17 and I might be dead but I believe that equals 48 not 41.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:25 PM)
Your not dead!! Good catch.. 48 points.
John (Miami)
Do you think people would still consider Ted Ginn a bust if he had a stronger armed quarterback? When I go watch their games it seems like the kid is running open downfield constantly.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:27 PM)
Actually I think he is shedding the bust label.. He is improving this year and I think he's on the verge of a major breakout..
Jon (Mo)
Doug need one more answer: who do you start Giants D against Ravens or the Panthers D against Lions
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:29 PM)
Panthers D against a non-existant O in Detroit..
Rick (LA)
no superbowl for the stillers if big ben isnt 100%?
Einstein again,
Your English is worse than your math(your not dead???)
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:30 PM)
I majored in football, not English (geesh, you're souding like my wife, the teacher)..
Vinnie (NYC)
Doug, why does it seem like Eli is never looking Plaxico's way anymore?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:30 PM)
He's looking at the guys that are consistent.. Guys that practice the way they play on Sunday..
Brian (WI)
Is Calvin Johnson going to have a good game this week against Carolina or will the quarterback positin slow Megatron down?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:32 PM)
Not enough going for him at the QB position.. Tough to have a big game in Carolina.
Rick (LA)
hey enstein, wait your turn, about the stillers Doug....?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:33 PM)
They need Willie Parker back !!
Don(Michigan)
Is the Arizona defense the most overlooked in the NFL because of their potent offense?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:33 PM)
Good observation.. Their O gets all the attention while their defense does all the work..
Mike (Toledo)
Doug I am sorry to ask a fantasy question but I have a very weird question. I have the following Running backs, B. Jacobs, Chris Johnson, Slaton, Barber, and Thomas Jones. Now i know this is a great problem to have but should I trade any of these guys, or should I just keep them and take the best that each week provides?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:34 PM)
I don't know much about fantasy leagues but I wouldn't let any of those running backs free..
Jon (MO)
Warner for MVP or at least a pro bowl!!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:35 PM)
Pro Bowl, probably.. MVP??? No - look to Portis or Haynesworth.
John (Miami)
looking back...was Jake Long worth the #1 overall pick?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:37 PM)
No question.. You have no idea how difficult it is to get a franchise left tackle (ask Washington- Samuels, Seattle - Jones, NYG - Diehl, among other teams)..
Pat ( Coronado)
Hypothetical question, as bad as the cowboys have looked in the past 3 games, let´s just say that Romo comes back and they win out with Romo being the key to the turnaround, could you see him being the MVP If that were the case?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:38 PM)
Nope.. He has missed too many games.. (and wasn't playing like an MVP before he got hurt).
Jon ( Mo)
I don't get all the hype around portis!! I also think if Cutler gets the broncos to the playoffs he deserves some kind of award
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:40 PM)
Lets start with 2nd in the league with 995 yards, 5th with 4.9 per carry and is one of the best at blitz pick-up...
Jessica Simpson (Dallas)
You just watch. My Romo will come back better than ever and still be able to hit 3 point baskets!
Hypercane
How many yards will Anquan Bolden get tonight
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:40 PM)
75-100 yards..
John (Miami)
Would the Jets have been doing better or worse with Chad Pennington at QB?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:42 PM)
Worse.. He is a better fit in Miami.. Mangini wants to be able to take more shots downfield and Pennington simply lacks the arm..
Dick Jackson (Billington)
Do you see the Lions rebuilding anytime soon?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:44 PM)
As soon as they get a real football person running the team.. They have a couple good building blocks, just need a QB, O line, D line.. LOLActually look at Atlanta.. It can be done with the right person making the calls..
Vinnie (NYC)
This might seem ridiculous, but Tyler Thigpen appears to be a phenominal athlete and a pretty smart player... any chance he becomes the Chiefs true #1 QB next season?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:45 PM)
He's making a good run for the spot, now.. Yes, I'd say it could easily happen.. When I was in Seattle Dave Kreig was about to be cut when he was forced to play and the rest was history (not a great player but did a great job for our team)..
Don(Michigan)
Biggest surprise in the NFL so far ...my vote is Miami..not only for their record but also for their offensive playbook
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:46 PM)
Good choice.. Atlanta could be another one..
rob
who is 49ers qb tonight?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:51 PM)
From what I hear Hill
Chioke Hassan Baltimore,Md
Dear DougCould you see the league fining Mike Singletary for droping his pants?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:51 PM)
No, that was in private
Jason (Atlanta, GA)
Hey Doug I was wondering why free agents like Rod Coleman, Kimo Van Ohlehoffen, Keith Traylor, Ian Gold, and Warrick Holdman haven't been signed by any NFL Teams this year?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:52 PM)
Age.. Not worth what it would cost to sign them.
Rick (LA)
is alex smith the next ryan leaf?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:52 PM)
No.. Totally different character types.. Smith is a team player that can succeed in the right system.
Yung L (GA)
Is the AFC west the worst division in football?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:53 PM)
You could make an argument for the NFC West (after Arizona who is there?)
Mike, NY
Are the Bills really this bad?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:55 PM)
No, they just weren't as good as people thought they were after week 7.. they will still win some games but not enough to make the playoffs.. Strong D and excellent special teams.. Still need work on O..
Cole (Tn)
Is Addai going to be in a 50/50 time share with D. Rhodes the rest of the way or will he take advantage of the soft schedule that is looming?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:56 PM)
As he continues to become more healthy Addai will get an increasing amount of carries.
Bryan P Sunnyvale, CA
There are lots of good players in today's game? But can you tell me the ones that will stand on tonight on MNF?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:58 PM)
Warner to throw for a lot of yards at home..
Steve (Lancaster)
how good is Benjarvus Green-Ellis? I believe better than Maroney who was their first pick a few years ago
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (8:00 PM)
Not as talented but will run tougher..
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (8:00 PM)
Out of time.. Enjoy the game tonight..
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:02 PM)
Good evening, everyone -- let's keep the football talk going. What's on your minds?
James (FL)
Draft question .... Does Michael Oher (OT, Ole Miss) make sense for the Bengals who will most likely have a top 5 pick going into next years draft?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:02 PM)
Sure -- I'd imagine you'll see his name tied to Cincy's on quite a few mocks.
Don(Michigan)
Will Arizona be able to play at the level they are playing at right now when visiting places like NE and Pitt in the next few weeks? We know what the weather can be like in those areas this time of year.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:03 PM)
Don, that's the million-dollar question. We know that Arizona has a great offense, and that they're combustible at home, but they have to learn to win under adversity consistently to be taken seriously at the next level.
Steve PA.
What Numbers do You think Gore will have tonight?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:04 PM)
15 carries, 75 yards. 5 catches, 65 yards.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:05 PM)
Note to John -- loading up on the question over and over assures that we won't answer it. Kay?
Scott (WV)
Who is the better WR for the 2nd half ... D. Bowe or E. Royal?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:05 PM)
Royal. Love that kid. Very impressive. There are things about Marshall that worry me, but I think Royal has the potential to be a very special player in that offense.
aaron (maurepas)
will the saints make the playoffs
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:06 PM)
Tough one. Losing McKenzie and Porter for the year really kills their secondary. They needed massive improvement there to make any kind of real run. Plus, the division is tougher than anyone thought. Right now, I'd have to say no.
Randy (Baltimore)
Who is the last rookie QB to play as well as Ryan? Did Peyton play this well as a rookie?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:08 PM)
No he didn't, Randy. Ryan has unusual poise and ability for a rookie. The most impressive thing about him to me i his ability to throw long, across his body, with accuracy. That huge throw late against CHI was but one example. He's got a great situation and a nice target in Roddy White.
Cedric the Entertainer (Paducah, KY)
Darren McFadden or Cedric Benson.. Who will be more valuable during the rest of the season including Fantasy playoffs?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:08 PM)
Erm...McFadden if he can stay healthy at all. Benson just scares me.
Randy (Baltimore)
Do you think the Ravens can continue their offensive production the next few weeks against tough NFC East opponents?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:10 PM)
Yeah, with Flacco improving and Ray RIce emerging they have some balance there. The question is what kind of targets Flacco will have. Right now, I'd have to give them the division. Both BAL and PIT have outstanding defenses, but Flacco isn't getting sacked 40 times a game.
Will (St. Louis, MO)
Over/under on Boldin tonight: 100 Yards 2TDShaun Hill: 200 yards 2TD INT
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:10 PM)
Over on Boldin, under on Hill.
Hunter (Memphis)
R. Bush seemed to be putting together his most successful season to date before the injury. How long do you think it will take him to be fully healthy?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:11 PM)
Payton said that he was hopeful for this week, but I'd say he'll be there for the final quarter of the season.
Steve (Lancaster)
Lions remaining schedule: @ CAR, TB, TEN, MIN, @ IND, NO, and @ GB...do they have a legite shot at a win this season??
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:12 PM)
The Lions do not have a legit shot at a win. One of the teams facing the lions might suffer a historic faceplant and give up a game, but this team is just awful.
Dan (Los Angeles)
Would Urban Meyer succeed as an NFL coach? What college coach is most likely to be a head man in the NFL this time next year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:14 PM)
Kirk ferentz has been the next big name for a long time. Thing aabout college coaches is that they're used to having really unbalanced schedules, things goiing their way, parity really isn't an issue -- there are so many example of college coaches crapping out in the NFL. I think teams are much, much better off hiring from the pool of talanted NFL assistants. That's no slight on Meyer, just the way it seems to be.
GshawnJohnson
Doug -If Lebron James entered the NFL instead of the NBA draft, with no college football experience, where would he be picked? It's a fun debate among friends: I can't imagine it would be anywhere after #1 overall... 6-8, 270 pounds, 4.4 40...
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:15 PM)
Remember that Usain Bolt debate? Bold would be a late second-day pick for sheer athleticism, but that's about it. Maybe LeBron gets a look for his vertical as a receiver, but it's like Tyson used to say -- "Everybody has a plan until they get hit."
Andrew(tx)
what percentage do the cowboys have of making the playoffs now that everybody is back
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:16 PM)
I think everything depends on the health of Clinton Portis. Workload is a concern, or it should be.
Jeremy (MS)
Who is the more productive back over the next 7 weeks .... J. Addai or M. Lynch?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:17 PM)
Healty Addai. I don't know what's up with Lynch, but there seem to be some systemic problems, as if everyone's not on the same page.
Don(Michigan)
Lions problem has always been the inability to build a franchise from the lines out... they have always drafted the QB,WR and RB with their highest picks and ignored the O and D lines.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:17 PM)
THANK you! Why are the Dolphins better? From the lines out. Why are the Falcons better? yep.
Randy (Baltimore)
Does Portis play for the Cowboys now???
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:18 PM)
No, but if he goes down, that changes the balance of the division pretty drastically.
Kevin (Atlanta, Ga)
Breaston, Bruce, or J. Morgan tonight?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:18 PM)
Breaston. Hill was a nice story against Seattle, but my mom could go 10 for 15 against that secondary.
Chris (Avon,CO)
hey doug, output tonight for Frank Gore? over under 100 rushing?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:19 PM)
Under 100 rushing, about 140-150 total.
Travis (Atlanta, GA)
Im down by 22 points in my fantasy matchup. I've got Larry Fitz and Hightower going tonight. My opponent is done. Do I get the win? (10yrds = 1 point, all tds =6)
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:19 PM)
I'd say you've got a pretty good shot. This is a good oportunity to mention that Hightower first impressed me and others at FO inthe preseason -- great lateral agility for a back his size. Very impressive so far.
Eric (Chicago)
Doug, why don't the Lions go after Parcells after he's done in Miami, or will that put both feet in the grave for him?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:20 PM)
He's not done. He's just started building yet another great team from the ground up.
scott-philly
hey doug, output tonight for hightower? over under 100 ruhing?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:21 PM)
Depends on the SF defense. If they roll coverage on Fitz and focus on Boldin, play a lot of that 5-2-4, Hightower could very well cut loose.
Wes (Palm Coast, FL)
did you notice AD took his helmet off twice yesterday (after the 3rd and short before he fumbled on 4th, and after he scored the winning TD)...isn't that a 15 yd penalty still? it didn't fall off on the TD, he got on his knees with it on, then it came off after he ducked his head...
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:22 PM)
Wes, I was going to say somehting about officiating consistency this year, but I just received a memo from the NFL and my pockets are a little light...
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:22 PM)
Seriously, the Comp. Committee needs to address some things this offseson. More than ever it seems as if every crew is calling a different game.
Steve (Honolulu, HI)
Not much talk here about the shake up at QB for the 49ers tonight. Is Shaun Hill going to help, or are the Cards ready for him? No doubt the 49ers will have to throw a lot to stay in this game.....
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:24 PM)
Thing about Hill, or any other QB in Martz's system, is that everything is quick-quick-quick. Quick release, quick drop, quick read. Your blocking back is runing a wheel route and your four wideouts are all hustling downfield. Nobody to chip. Get rid of the ball!
Randy (Baltimore)
Why does it seem like ever made a big deal about the 2 pt conversion for the Chiefs, but no one mentioned the botched XP earlier in the game?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:25 PM)
I'd like to know why nobody's making a big deal about the ridiculous PI call on Clinton Hart that set the Chiefs up for that TD.
Randy (Baltimore)
Any chance Vernon Davis gets more involved with Hill at QB? MD Terp connection?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:26 PM)
You have to wonder what they're going to do with him -- major investment and amazing physical skills but just bad technique -- sloppy routes, quits on balls. He'd be a game-changer if someone could get into his head.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Shaun Hill is a game manager. He doesn't turn it over. They won't win this game thru the air, they need the ground game to do that. All will need to do is convert on 3rd and long.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:28 PM)
Yes, but the point will be to avoid third-and-long at all costs. Martz is a lot better with second-and-short, which is why he'll try stuff downfield.
Will (St. Louis, MO)
Will the loss of Adalius Thomas diminish NE's run stopping abillity? If so, would you start T. Jones over Westbrook, Lynch or J. Lewis this week?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:29 PM)
To a point, but Westbrook is playing the Bengals. Shoe money tonight!
John (Miami)
What do you think the Dolphins #1 need in the offseason is? I was sure it would be CB but the last 4 games Goodman/Allen have been lights out.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:31 PM)
I'd bet they'll be looking hard at a nose tackle. Ferguson is outstanding, but he's also 33. Parcells will always get his lines in order first and foremost.
charlie (elkton,md)
with Giants 8-1 in first for the NFC east, Redskins 6-3, Cowboy's and Eagles each 5-4 both tired for last, will they bounce back or just stay at 3rd and 4th in the divison?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:32 PM)
Cowboys a better chance than Eagles. Coaching and short yardage issues are stopping the Eagles from succeeding.
GshawnJohnson
Doug come on man! Lebron was a great HS WR. They say Peterson woulda been a top pick out of HS if it was legal, and he doesn't have close to Lebron's specs.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:33 PM)
Anyone hypothetically picking a player straight out of high school should be fired immediately, though I imagine you could have piqued Matt Millen's interest for a while...
Mark (Tampa, FL)
How effective will Marion Barber be for the rest of the season considering they have games against the Redskins, Ravens, Giants, Eagles, and Steelers.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:34 PM)
Having Felix Jones back will really help. Barber's a beast, but having that other style of player made a huge difference in that offense.
Wes (Palm Coast, FL)
any clue what the ruling was on Rodgers 1st safety? there was a reciever in the area, ESPN said it was an illegal forward pass...but it went to a reciever...does it have to get to the line? if that's the case wouldn't it be an intentional grounding (or is this back to the no comment on refs?)?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:36 PM)
Wes, I haven't had time to really go after the research on that one -- my impression was that the Illegal forward Pass call would be correct, but I've read all kinds of stuff about it. The NFL needs to avoid waiting until Wednesday on stuff like this.
Will (St. Louis, MO)
Who is more dropable at this point? Chambers or M. Harrison?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:36 PM)
Harrison. Watching him last night was sad. A great player who's really starting to drag.
Noam (NY)
What's the deal with the jets ty law signing?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:37 PM)
Decent depth and a "nyah, nyah, nyah" at the Pats, who need CB depth as well.
ndncloud9
Do the minnesota vikings have a chance to make the playoffs or is going .500 more realistic?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:38 PM)
Love their defensive line, obviously the backs, Sindey Rice has great potential, but I don't see this team doing a thing until they get a legit QB and quite possibly a change of scenery at HC.
Don(Michigan)
The Stare will eventually get it done in SF but it might take 3 years, will the owners allow for that?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:40 PM)
If he wins, yes. If he doesn't, no. it's not complex. All the motiivational stuff means little without wins.
Shac (Indiana , Pa)
who wins the rb showdown tonight ...Hightower or Gore ?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:40 PM)
Hightower. This kid is really impressive.
Scott (Fairfax, VA)
I am a replacement owner in a keeper league. I am stacked at QB with Cutler and Rodgers. I have a horrible WR crew (Housh, Ocho Cinco, K. Walter). Which one of my QBs should I trade, and who can I look to target in return. Another replacement owner has Anderson and Young as his qbs, and has Roddy White. I offered him Rodgers for White straight up - will he accept/should I offer Cutler instead?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:41 PM)
If you can get Rodgers for White straight up and you have Cutler -- yeah. Ryan and White are stellar and Rodgers' pass pro is starting to look really bad.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:42 PM)
Rossum with a great block there. Gone!
Chris (TX)
Ok seriously who is stupid enough to drop Tom Brady in a keepers league? I snatched him up and called that guy a fool straight up. Now i got Warner, Cutler and Brady now aint that a 3 headed Monster to have to deal with next year.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:43 PM)
If Warner comes back and there are no further infection issues with Brady -- not trying to be a downer but QBs are finicky career creatures. Even the best ones.
charlie
Who has a more of a chance winning rookie of the year, matt forte' or DeSean Jackson?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:44 PM)
Mat tForte has a good chance of finishing third, and Jackson fourth, behind Matt Ryan and Chris Johnson in that order.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:44 PM)
Love the deep cross to breaston - the Cards remind me of the 90s Vikings. Who do you stop?
rob (jersey)
Is Jamal Charles worth the pickup - My RB's are well bad (Dunn, Addai, Slaton)
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:45 PM)
I like Charles. we'll have to see how that KC offense shakes out. They're running a little bit of spread stuff now.
ndncloud9 (Thief River Falls, MN)
If the Lions get the number 1 pick in the Draft can a franchise QB turn them around and is there 1 in the draft next year??
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:46 PM)
Honestly, there are so many other issues with the Lions, they need to start with some sort of protection for whatever QB they get. I think they'd be better off parlaying those picks into a bunch of position guys.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:47 PM)
And there's Mr. Hightower! He's gonna hit ya!
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
What do the Cards do with Boldan after this year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:48 PM)
He's proven a lot, coming back from the facial injury. They need continuity on that offense. On the other side, how much cap space do you blow on two receivers?
brian, ma
who would be the backup for portis if he goes down?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:49 PM)
Rock Cartwright/Shaun Alexander. Hope for Cartwright.
RICK ORANGE COVE
HOW DID THE 9ERS SCORE?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:49 PM)
Rossum return.
Tim
Do the Lions spend on FA or do they stay cheap?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:50 PM)
They got some picks from the Cowboys in a fleece deal -- they need to start there. Teams are built through the draft and enhanced in free agency.
charlie
steelers or titans on the afc side of the super bowl. panthers or gaint for nfc
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:51 PM)
Titans-Giants wouldn't surprise me, though the Ravens have me thinking.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
As a Redskin fan, The Rock has been my favorite player since he was drafted. It amazes me each year that they keep him on the team. The skins are usually quick to get rid of the No-Names on the team....cough cough...Pierce...cough cough...
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:51 PM)
A longtime FO mantra: FREE ROCK CARTWRIGHT!!! We want to see more of the Rock. We smell what the Rock's cokkin' (Okay, I'll stop now...)
Eagle (Long Beach, CA)
Right now i absolutely love my team except for one person, Marshawn Lynch. I know he's a very good player but looking at his past few contests and his injury, I do not really want to start him. I'm really hesitating with this guy because he's playing a kansas city defense next week. I currently have deangelo williams, tim hightower, justin fargas as my other running backs. Would it be best to keep him or trade him?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:53 PM)
Lynch has a lot of talent, but there seems to be some kind of discionnect there. He'll have cutbacks and not take them, or but back when there are seams outside. Not sure if it's a vision issue or what. Hightower's a good guy to have right now.
Don(Michigan)
Does Chicago stay with Orten and Grossman or maybe go after Cassel or Andersen?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:54 PM)
Orton for sure. I think Grossman is auditioning for his next team.
ndncloud9 (Thief River Falls, MN)
other than our QB situation in minnesota, what other positions should the vikings look at to help themselves out?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:55 PM)
Receiver. Secondary.
Brandon (NJ)
is larry johnson the next priest holmes(fantasy irrelevant) and jamal charles the next lj (fantasy boom)?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:55 PM)
I don't know if anyone's a boom on that team.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Is there any possible way the Titans let Haynesworth go next year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:56 PM)
Hard to say. Mike reinfeldt has some very fixed ideas on player value (he was behind the Hutchingon transition tag thing in Seattls), though he might get overruled if he wants to underbid.
Mo (NY)
Any possible way that the raiders let Nnamdi Asomugha leave after this year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:57 PM)
No. Not even the Raiders are that crazy.
Justin (Lapeer, MI)
Do the lions try and deal Jon Kitna in the offseason and stick with daunte, orlovsky, and stanton or do they keep him and do something with another?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:57 PM)
Kitna and the Lions are done.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Is Chicago deserving of the dumbest team award for staying with Grossman for so long? Wasn't it Orton that won all the regular season games and started the playoffs before Sexy Rexy got in the superbowl?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:58 PM)
It's hard to judge, really. You have to balance between the time it takes a quarterback to develop, the tools you give him, and the eventual reality that it just isn't working. If they were still convinced about Grossman NOW, that award would be legit.
Daunte Culpepper (Motor City)
Do i have a job next year, if i the NFC South does not kill me in the next three weeks?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:59 PM)
If you want one, I believe you signed a two-year deal with the Lions. This year is to get the playbook together. Next year is to run all three plays!
Don(Michigan)
Speaking of cash flow, do you think the current economic conditions have a detrimental affect on some teams more than others?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (9:00 PM)
Without question, The Buffaloes and Jacksonvilles of the league are way behind the Cowboys and Redskins when it comes to overall revenue. it's not going to be any easier now.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (9:00 PM)
Gotta love Breaston's speed -- he was a real jet as a returner at Michigan.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (9:01 PM)
Thanks for all the great questions, everyone. I must now bid you adieu and hand you over to your Buzzmaster. Take care and God bless.
Buzzmaster (9:06 PM)
Sorry about that, I was too engrossed in this thrilling game.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Where is the Buzzinator?
Buzzmaster (9:07 PM)
Or maybe that should be too into this gross game. Either way works!
MT (CA)
Anyone start the punt count already? =p
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Awesome punt!!
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Hmmm, Buzz must be stuffing his face with a late night pop tart...
Joe
I've been missing your jokes Buzz. I really have.
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Noooooooooooooooooooooo! Not Buzz!
Jay (NY)
I'd wash your hands after you hand over the chat. Buzz doesn't wash.
Buzzmaster (9:07 PM)
But unlike some coaches I could name, I keep my pants on at halftime.
Steve (Syracuse)
Monday Night PUNTS
Ryan (NOLA)
The Buzzinator is just a cheap Whizzinator at best
Pete (NC)
I'm chatting with two gloves on, Kurt Warner style.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
I about fell asleep. The 25 cent wings are wearing on me. Either that or the pitcher I drank...hmmm, I'll be debating that one for awhile...
Joe
Sure about that one, Buzz?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
That's pretty funny Ryan, I had a good conversation about the Whizzinator a week ago.
Buzzmaster (9:09 PM)
You lead a full life, Brendan.
Brandon (NJ)
wow my cardinals D pickup is looking great so far :(
Buzzmaster (9:09 PM)
Is that our first offical doink of the night? Nice hands.
Steve (Syracuse)
Why is Monday Night Football where good offenses go to die?
Buzzmaster (9:09 PM)
Quick tip: Stop blocking the cornerback when the pass gets to you.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Hey, I know we're big Punt-enthusiasts, did anyone else see Andy Lee's stat: 4,968 punt yards last season. Most in NFL history. Does that not show how much the Niners sucked last year?
Pete (NC)
For those of you keeping score, that's 2 punts so far.
Jay (NY)
This is gonna be a dangerous chat since a lot of us are off tomorrow....let the alcohol flow...
Buzzmaster (9:10 PM)
We're off tomorrow?
Steve (Syracuse)
Brandon- I had NYJ D, then thought "better" of it on saturday and dropped it for Miami...
Joe
Why does Monday night always have to be about as interesting as the Toyota commercials?
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
I can't believe I can actually hear the crowd at a Cardinals game. What did they do pre-game to get them so excited? Wait, do I really want that question answered?
Buzzmaster (9:11 PM)
Four words: Earlybird special at Denny's. Or is early bird two words?
Shadow
Yeah, we're off tomorrow - It's Veteran's Day
Steve (Syracuse)
Ah- also Mondy Night Commercial!
Steiny (NYC)
The Niners should ine up Michael Robinson at QB more. In fact he is probally a better QB then Hill.
Pete (NC)
Yeah Jay, banks are closed. The stock market is not. Thus I am at work.
Brandon (NJ)
First challenge of coaching career
Brandon (NJ)
Steve- why do we torture ourselves like this?
Josh (Olympia, WA)
The question is did he have more punt yards than total team offense?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Steve, that sucks. Welp, that's all I've got to say about that.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Wait, people are off work tomorrow? I bet I still drink more than they do...pansies...
Steve (Syracuse)
phht- We dont get Vet's day off...Vets should get the day off---no one else...
Jay (NY)
It's Vetinarian Day have some respect Buzz
MT (CA)
I think early bird is two words...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Buzz, funny you should bring up the Denny's early bird special. I had an interesting conversation about that.
Buzzmaster (9:13 PM)
Let me guess, two and a half months ago?
Buzzmaster (9:13 PM)
And another punt. It must be Monday.
Jay (NY)
I would not bet against someone from Alabama in a drinking contest.
Buzzmaster (9:14 PM)
I will not stand for anyone suggesting that's because there aren't any brain cells to kill. Won't stand for it, you hear?
Steiny (NYC)
The Dolphins should be paid because every team in the NFL stole their idea of the wild cat formation.
David (Dublin, OH)
The wildcat formation is known as the single wing offense and was utilized by coach Keith Piper of Div. III school Denison University in the 70s and 80s . I played for that team
Pete (NC)
No Buzz, it's because they have nothing to live for, duh.
John (NC)
Mark this 49'ers fans, Allan Rossum will have more kick return yards than the 49'ers total offense tonight,
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
4162 yards of total offense for the niners last year, compared to the 4,900 punt yards... that sums it up
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
it's one word, unless we're talking about the beloved mcdonalds breakfast mascot. i think earlywynn may be one word as well.
Buzzmaster (9:16 PM)
How about QuinnEarly?
Tim
Ahh tip pass that's the Kurt I remember from the Giants years!
MT (CA)
1st quarter about done with 5 total 1st downs between the 2 teams...
Josh (Olympia, WA)
WOW! The NFL is taking Div III school play books. Time to take from NAIA. Still can be effective.
Paul (Lorain, OH)
That was genuinely interesting David in Dublin. Awesome.
Buzzmaster (9:16 PM)
Yeah, don't let that kind of thing catch on around here. Being interesting and all.
Tim
Lookslike they have Warner frazzled!
Don(Michigan)
Nerves showing for Zona early
Shadow
John - I'd agree, based on past performance... but it's be good to see the 49rs finally get in gear. I'm in this for a good game... not a blow-out
Joe
Punt #4 already!
Jay (NY)
I'm upset that I'm Irish and had no clue that Dublin is in Ohio.
Steve-OH (NorCal)
Looking pretty good for the ole' Niners.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
That information would have been even more interesting if he was from Dublin, Ireland...
Joe
A good game on Monday, shadow? Clearly you don't have ESPN
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
and slightly less interesting if it was from dublin, georgia.
Buzzmaster (9:19 PM)
Wow, a first down run to close the quarter. Maybe there's hope for this game!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Dublin, Ohio, founded in 1904 by the germans
Jay (NY)
Next you're going to tell me the Blarney Stone is in West Virginia.
David (Dublin, OH)
I'm tyelling you that is the wildcat is known as the single wing....an old formation from the 30s and 40s
Buzzmaster (9:20 PM)
For those interested in all things single wing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_wing
Don(Michigan)
So much for a blowout or a shootout..
Smithers (CA)
If the 49ers win, the rams still have a chance at the division!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I tuned in to see a new and improved Cardinal team and the old Cardinals showed up....
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Who stole the 49ers jerseys and is now playing on the field.
Brandon (NJ)
wasn't this game in mexico two years ago?
Patrick (Louisville)
Anyone wish they took the under in the Streak?
Pete (NC)
Wait David, first you said 70s and 80s. Shenanigans!
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
uh oh, I just broke a string on my guitar...How am I supposed to pick up trashy girls now!??!?!
Ray Guy
If I were still playing, I'd be the MNF MVP
Buzzmaster (9:22 PM)
TD or offensive interference?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
What a catch by MOrgan
Buzzmaster (9:23 PM)
Holding on the defense, TD stands. And it wasn't even a special teams one!
Paul (Lorain, OH)
Wow great catch.
Steiny (NYC)
Josh Morgan is a BEAST.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
zoinkers
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Wow. Shaun Hill might be pretty good. he's played solid before, makes me wonder why they benched him over the other QBs in Niner land.
MT (CA)
I can't believe Hill is SF's starting qb...
Pete (NC)
I took the over. Never thought it'd be due to the Niners.
Don(Michigan)
Shocker in the making?
MT (CA)
Well, there you go, he did something finally.
Tim
OK I nominate Singletary for COY.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Shaun Hill hasn't lost a game as a starter. Are we seeing a changing of the guard for the 9ers.
Buzzmaster (9:24 PM)
I love the instant history of a MNF chat.
Joe
Everyone always says that someone is a beast when they make One big play
Patrick ( Louisville )
By great catch, do you mean great almost drop?
Buzzmaster (9:24 PM)
And the inevitable backlash ...
Mark (MI)
Seriously, Cards fans can't be surprised by this. How many times have we watched this happen?
Brad (Iowa)
Kurt Warner is still a Hall of Famer....The Cards will be back in this after the upcoming drive
Dan (Fayetteville, AR)
Tony!Wildcat is the creation of Gus Malzahn, while he was high school coach in Springdale, AR. Took the Wildcat to Arkansas for one year, then on to his position as Asst Coach / OC at Tulsa. The rest is history in the making
James
They need Denny Green back in Arizona so after this game he can say. "They are who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook"
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Thats a very glass is half empty look at it Patrick.
Matt Leinart (Bored)
Buzz dude...should I just fade into bolivian?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
No, Shaun Hill played solid last year. 3 games, 5-1 int ratio. Sure it was at the end of the season, but that is way better than what Alex Smith did up to that point.
MT (CA)
Warner's going to start chucking it all over throwing ints...
Pete (NC)
Wait a second. This is the Arizona Cardinals. Why are we so surprised they're losing?
Tim
Sorry I've seen Kurt before when he played for the Giants and he's Fazzled!
Buzzmaster (9:26 PM)
Are they related to the Fraggles?
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
The 49ers will win this game if they will go on with this impresive defense against Warner...
Brandon (NJ)
Leinert, great SC spelling
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Bolivia is a wonderful country I've heard. Just stay away from Evo Morales and the coke lords.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
The 49ers broke my heart in 1982 and 1989....and yes I still hold a grudge
Jay (NY)
What's an Alex Smith?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Kurt Warner is not HOF material. That requires a consistent career, which he hasn't had.
Joe
Come on Kurt! I need 22 fantasy points from you!
Brad (Iowa)
Warner - Threading the Needle again...
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
PepperJack loves him some Fraggle Rock!
Buzzmaster (9:28 PM)
Long completion for the Cardinals, moving deep in SF territory now.
Don(Michigan)
Breaston !1
Patrick ( Louisville )
Wow
Robert (NCarolina)
Just got here...14-3??? What magic powers does Singletary's naked behind have?
Brad (Iowa)
Brendan - Kurt has the MVPs, the Rings , The Numbers..... How in the heck isnt he a HOF QB?
Buzzmaster (9:28 PM)
All right, while we wait to see if the Cardinals punch it in, how about it. Warner HOF?
Buzzmaster (9:28 PM)
I say no.
Jay (NY)
Kurt Warner is a MVB, most valuable bagger.
Ryan (NOLA)
But Warner has had a consistent hair style and that should count for something, right?
Buzzmaster (9:29 PM)
And by wait for the TD ... Boldin trots in for the score.
Brad (Iowa)
TD - WARNER... HOF - END OF STORY
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
Noooooooo
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Boldin is MONEY
Brandon (NJ)
Brad - he played in NFL Europe could be an argument against him
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
i say he is...
Buzzmaster (9:30 PM)
14-10 49ers.
Brenda Warner (Glendale, AZ)
My Kurt is the epitome of a Hall of Famer. You guys are just jealous.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
I have to say that Warner will be in the HOF he is second only to Young in stats. Thats like keeping the all time hit leader in baseball out of the HOF.
Pete (NC)
HOF? No. Inspiring story? Yes.
San Francisco, CA
Walt Harris sucks
Mike (Sideline, Arizona)
Well It worked once at halftime, it might work again...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I say no. He has a resume for the Arizone Cards HOF, but the NFL? It takes more.
Jay (NY)
Kurt also won the MAW award for the Most Annoying Wife. He wins as Kris Benson has become irrelevant.
Mark (MI)
I won't mess with Brenda
MT (CA)
And less than 5mins into the 2nd quarter, we've doubled the number od 1st downs from the whole 1st quarter already! All right, we have progress!!
Mike (Ohio)
Second only to Young in stats? What?
Paul (Lorain, OH)
Pete in NC you mean,, HOF? No,, Disney movie? Yes.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Dammit, I need boldin not to score points... Ugh. Put in leinert!
Charles Sheridan, WY
When was the last time two #13 Qbs started a game.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
So, do you re-sign Boldin? Franchise then trade him? Can they really pay that much for him and Fitz?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Boldin has some serious guns and by guns I mean pythons
Pete (NC)
Kurt Warner as a cartoon character? I could see that.
Joe
Since last week Chuck. Bulger and Warner
Ryan (NOLA)
Kurt Warner to Air Bud would be a great film
Brandon (NJ)
does anyone remeber when edge was good? kind of random but....really does anyone remember that he was dirty
Brad (Iowa)
Fitz is the man, someday he will be with the Vikes - since hes wanted to play there forever - he and peterson would be nice to see
Patrick ( Louisville )
Baseball...uh, too soon
Santa Rosa, CA
When did the ground start causing a fumble in pro football..? Or better yet, when did a knee on the turf after contact NOT become a player is down..? Rewind your TiVO and get back to me... ( ex. Challenged play of the first quarter by the 49ers )
Buzzmaster (9:35 PM)
We'll get right on that.
Jenn (AZ)
Any chance I can watch the game here on ESPN online? I'm at work and can't watch on tv...
Buzzmaster (9:36 PM)
Sorry, you're stuck with us.
Leif (La Jolla, CA)
Warner has the same career QB rating as Peyton Manning
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Warner 26439yds 168 TD's Young 33124yds 232TD's
Mike (Lexington, KY)
of course they find a way to sneak in more commercials when unnecessary
Brandon (NJ)
yeah i'm an A's fan and that update disgisted me
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Whoa, are they going for it?
Steiny (NYC)
The most punts in a single game was 16, by Leo Aeaguz of the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders were playing the San Diego Chargers. The game was on October 11, 1998.
Joe
Saaaaaaved byyyyyyy zeeeeeeeerooooooooooo...
Joe
Punt #5?
Harry Modesto, CA
If JTO was playing he would have fo sure fumbled the last play...
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
What a hit!!!
Paul (Lorain, OH)
Breaston got JACKED UP!
vandy (delaware)
Nice hit
Brandon (NJ)
helmet + HELMET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! = FINE coming banta-cains way
Robert (NCarolina)
Young is a HOFer just for playing with TO and not shooting him in the head (BTW any QB that does shoot TO in the head also gets voted into the HOF).
Tim ( Passaic,NJ)
Really Warner had taking his team to the Sb and won MVP and as long as he has that he will get in along with his numerous yards.
Buzzmaster (9:39 PM)
My kingdom for a comma.
vandy (delaware)
why is boldin taking hits like that? after his concussion earlier he needs to stop taking those for a while
chauncey (teaneck)
I don't know TO wasn't the same guy when he played with Steve Young
Wesley (Austin, Texas)
Does SF have anyone besides Gore? The story line from ESPN today was all about Singletary, at least on the 49ers side.
Patrick ( Louisville )
We,ll Buzz I just don,t see it that way.
Grammar (Absent)
Here's your comma: ,
Pete (NC)
Is it just me or does Warner look odd without scruffy facial hair?
Steiny (NYC)
Warner is the second-most accurate quarterback in NFL history, with a career completion percentage of 65.5%, behind Chad Pennington.
Robert (NCarolina)
Allen Rossum..greatest thing ever in a return yards cound IDP league.
Brandon (NJ)
Wesley...Alex SMith
Ryan (NOLA)
So naturally, Pennington is in as well, right? Stats are nice, but plently of players have big numbers and shouldn't be in the HOF, like Bledsoe.
Pete (NC)
JG Wentworth > Toyota in most annoying commercial contest.
Tim ( Passaic,NJ)
Only Chad won't make th HOF.
Robert (NCarolina)
Steiny that factoid actually seemed compelling until you ended it with "behind Chad Pennington".
Internet Stats Guy (Cyberspace)
Completion % is overrated and has been ever since Bill Walsh brought the '5 yards and a cloud of dust' passing offense into vogue.
paul (minneapolis)
did hightower get hurt? 3 for 16 then nothing. I'm stuck at work and need 7pts for the win.!
Buzzmaster (9:44 PM)
He's in. And fumbling.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
STRIPPED!
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Warner has the 3rd highest Passer rating of all time. Does that not show consistency?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
What, then Pennington should be in the HOF for having the highest completion percentage then! Come on guys, QB rating is a dubious measure of QB skill. Terry Bradshaw is in the pro football hall of fame, and he has a garbage rating!
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Down by contact.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
he's down
Paul (Lorain, OH)
No fumble!
Bruce (CT)
clearly down
Patrick ( Louisville )
And another challenge! I tell you what, this replay thing makes for some great* TV.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Down, that's boring.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I doubt Warner is in the HOF right now but give him another MVP and/or Super Bowl ring and he is in
Ryan (NOLA)
I've heard plenty of talk about HOF. If Warner gets in, it is as much for his story of bag boy to Super Bowl winner as his stats.
Joe Namath (HoF)
I threw far more picks than I did td's and I'm in the Hall. On a side note, I want to kiss Suzy Kolber.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
At what point then do you take all the stats that someone has that puts them near the top and say they don't matter and not let them into the HOF?
Buzzmaster (9:47 PM)
And the long overdue ruling is down by contact.
Shadow
Patrick - Very true - A GOOD game... entertaining... keep the score tight... Very enjoyable. Let's hope this keeps up.
Buzzmaster (9:48 PM)
One of these quarters the 49ers will learn how to tackle Boldin.
Ugly Stick (Warner house)
Do AFL games count toward HOF qualifications? If not, how are we even having this conversation (unless it's a consolation for being married to that wife of his.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
What? Edge a future hall of famer? Whaaaa? Warner has a better arguement!
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Boldin just doesn't want to go down.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Boldin is a BAAAAD MAAAAN
Paul (Lorain, OH)
Boldin is such a good run after the catch'er. Yes, that is an official football term.
Buzzmaster (9:49 PM)
Izzy Alcantara is good at running at the catcher.
Ryan (NOLA)
Hall of Fame, not Hall of Stats. Entertainment and stories matter more than numbers.
Drew (NYC)
Watching Warner lead the Cardinals makes me wonder what will happen to Matt Leinart. What a bust is all I can say.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Just makes me want to YAC
Greg
Why does Kurt Warner hate Fitzgerald? He's throwing to everybody BUT Fitzy!
Pete (NC)
Yeah Paul, it's called YAC and it's a stat.
Robert (NCarolina)
AZ doesn't have the D to win it all but they are great to watch and can take out anyone in a single elimination game....Being Panther blue I would love to see them play NYG in first round.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Warners contract is up after the season....do they resign him or move on
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
So, a fake handoff is called Play-Action. What is a fake pass then a draw play? Play-Boring-Run?
Matt Leinart (bored on the sideline)
It's alright dudes. I've got money and I'm going to be in my 20's forever! LOL! Buzz is my BFF!!!!1!
Paul (Lorain, OH)
I know that I was just trying to be funny.. I guess I failed badly.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Hall of Fame means recognizable names. If I remember correctly no one was talking about warner from his departure from the rams to last year. That's not very famous if he dissapeared for so long.
Buzzmaster (9:52 PM)
FG is up and good, 14-13 49ers.
Robert (NCarolina)
How bad does Edge play that Boldin is the backup RB too?
Drew (NYC)
Rackers is the best kicker in the game. Hands down.
Buzzmaster (9:53 PM)
Big deal, head down is more important than hands down for a kicker.
Nathan (MN)
why does boldin have 3 rushes, give it to the power of tower!!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Then we have guys like Peyton and Brady who have been around since warner and they've always been there. They are HOF'ers for sure. Warner is not in the same cast as they are.
Dustin (OHIO)
superbowl and league mvp's and crazy numbers in wins, yardage, and td's suggest warner as HOF candidate
Drew (NYC)
Wow ONLY 81 percent think the Cards will make the playoffs. Really? Thats it?
Patrick ( Louisville )
Rackers is good, but I think Akers has had the better career.
Buzzmaster (9:54 PM)
Let's not forget Mr. Vinatieri.
Rob Bironas (Nashville)
Yeah, but could Rackers make a field goal after a cannon goes off? Didn't think so.
Buzzmaster (9:54 PM)
Cardinals nearly come up the tip pick.
Steiny (NYC)
I think Warner is an inspiration to all players who do not get drafted. Warner turned to the Arena Football League in 1995 and signed with the Iowa Barnstormers. 4 years later he won the Super Bowl MVP.
Robert (NCarolina)
verify this stat...Alan Rossum has over 25% of SF's all purpose yards this season.
Buzzmaster (9:55 PM)
True. Verify that I verified it.
Buzzmaster (9:56 PM)
Punt? No, false start gives the 49ers another shot at third down ...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Joe Flacco could verify it.
Buzzmaster (9:57 PM)
Nicely played.
Buzzmaster (9:57 PM)
Helmetless Shaun Hill picks up the first down.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Hill is crazy is crazy is crazy
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
SHAUN HILL IS A HOF FOR THAT RUN!!
Drew (NYC)
Nice run. I was laughing at the start of that. Awkward play call.
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
thats football... run without helmet for 1st down!!!!
Patrick ( Louisville )
QB overthrow coming up. He is jacked.
Buzzmaster (9:58 PM)
So jacked he forgot to get the play off in time.
Ryan (NOLA)
Without the helmet, you play with fear. Fear makes you fast.
Buzzmaster (9:59 PM)
Cody Pickett. Now there's a trivia answer.
John (Runnemede NJ)
Would actually securing your helmet before a designed draw tip the defense off to what was coming. I mean, every play but one it's about to come off with the wind, then you snap the straps down and defense starts yelling DRAW!!!
Paul (Lorain, OH)
QBs only have 1 strap on each side though, so it's easier to knock the helmet off.
Jay (NY)
Cody Pickett lettered in Rodeo.
Robert (NCarolina)
They love Vernon Davis so much??? Is he even playing or did he get sent to the showers again already?
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Has there been a better QB tandem on the same team than Young and Montana? Do you think Rodgers and Favre be on that level?
Buzzmaster (10:01 PM)
Unitas and Manning?
Nathan (MN)
I have VD(v.davis) as a bye week fill-in and am going to the doc to get rid of him. he is worthless.
Robert (NCarolina)
If Hill got hit helmetless it couldn't hurt his facial expressions any...every camera close up makes him look like he drools on himself alot.
Patrick ( Louisville )
I love the blanket statments in this chat.
Buzzmaster (10:02 PM)
Quilt hater.
Pete (NC)
It was more of a helmet pulling than a helmet knocking.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
No way, HOF backing up a HOF. That is ridiculous.
Patrick ( Louisville )
A quilt would qualify as a blanket, wouldn't it?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Louisville is full of bourbon drinking red necks... BLANKET!!!
Jay (NY)
Blanket is definitely the name of a child from some psychopath.
Nathan (Las Vegas)
Is it just possible that Matt Ryan would be in the running for MVP and would it be a first?
Buzzmaster (10:04 PM)
Yes, I can categorically say it's the first time he's been in the MVP running.
Pete (NC)
Everyone on here is a worthless human being.
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Bet Penn State wishes they had Robinson on Saturday.... OOooooooooo...
Don(Michigan)
nice catch and throw
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Pass interference, come on.
Don(Michigan)
No love for Isaac
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Robert that was low...but I luv it
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Hey now, I resemble that worthless remark!
Buzzmaster (10:06 PM)
Tick, tick, tick
Buzzmaster (10:06 PM)
Johnson gets out of bounds, stops the clock at 46.
Patrick ( Louisville )
Who would have thought SF would appear so professional tonight.
Your name (Your location)
Niners are impressing me. I liked the move to fire Nolan
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Look at Hill, a pedestrian Niners offense now driving in the 2 minutes. Hill is the difference maker
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I thought this was the Arizona Cardinals' coming out party?
Foghorn Leghorn (Cartoon)
Well I say.. I say I say I resemble that remark.
Buzzmaster (10:07 PM)
I yield to the senior senator from Tennessee.
Robert (NCarolina)
Is it just me or does SF doing so well just tell me that Arizona is the biggest beneficiary of easy schedule in the NFL?
Buzzmaster (10:08 PM)
Great catch by ... Vernon Davis?!
Don(Michigan)
VD redeems
Mike (Lexington, KY)
helluva catch....the niners came to play
Buzzmaster (10:09 PM)
And he gets the unsportsmanlike flag. Guy can't win.
Robert (NCarolina)
Hey Nathan you might wanna keep you VD after all!
Jay (NY)
Good thing they're not only starting 10 players.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Looks like Vernon Davis is going to be heading to the showers now.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Aww, they are making up. That's nice.
Pete (NC)
Vernon Davis is definitely in the HOF.
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
great hug by VERNON >D>D>D
Brian (Louisville, KY)
Vernon Davis just OWNED the Cards secondary.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
You can bet the meeting between Singletary and Davis will be replayed to death....and it should b/c its good tv
the studio crowd after the Vernon Davis, Mike Singletary hug (a
Awwwwwwwww
Frantic Fantasy FBer (everywhere)
***picking up Shaun Hill***
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
redemption! redemption! redemption! redemption!
Robert (NCarolina)
This is Breaston TD time right?
Buzzmaster (10:11 PM)
Or not
Patrick ( Louisville )
Ha ha ha ha ha ha
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
and the cards crash, lol
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Shaun Hill has looked much better than JT...
Don(Michigan)
My ball no you get it ..no you get it!! ahhh
Buzzmaster (10:12 PM)
And that's halftime. 21-13 49ers. See you for the third quarter!
Buzzmaster (10:28 PM)
Delay of game on Buzz. But we're back!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Warner has come out of the locker room firing darts
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME second half football?
Lumpy
Hey...where do we go to take the poll for MVP?
Buzzmaster (10:29 PM)
front page
Mark (Michigan)
I'm getting very tired of seeing Singletary. Every dead ball they show Singletary. Please stop.
Buzzmaster (10:30 PM)
Fourth down, go for it?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Anybody but Boldin score, plz
Buzzmaster (10:31 PM)
They're going ... but call timeout.
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
Fielgoal... 49ers DeFence will hold them behind the line
Mike (Lexington, KY)
too early to gamble but what do I know
Buzzmaster (10:32 PM)
I'd pooch punt. Try and pin them inside the ... 4.
Jay (NY)
I just hurt my shoulder getting on my bed. I'm getting old. Where's Clinton, I need advice.
Pete (NC)
Boldin throws a TD to himself. Hows that Brendan?
Ben (Illinois)
The cards need to kick a FG
Nathan (MN)
Give it the to the Power of Tower(friend of the fantasy focus 06010) with TMR, Nate, and jay/podvader/chuck.(free plug)
Buzzmaster (10:33 PM)
Great, whatever it is you're plugging.
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
It's still early...Kick it!
crash
easy call, go for it
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Whisenhunt, did he invent the Whizzinater?
Buzzmaster (10:33 PM)
TD Fitzgerald!
Ben (Illinois)
WOW
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Pete, that would confirm my belief that NC is a horrible state with horrible people. BLANKET STATEMENT.
Patrick ( Louisville )
well executed, gutsy call
Buzzmaster (10:34 PM)
You play to win the game!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
YES!!
Buzzmaster (10:34 PM)
49ers 21-20.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
You know Singletary wants to put the helmet on and get after it....he just looks intense
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
What...not going for 2....you went for the TD
Jay (NY)
Herm did yesterday but forgot to score the points. My eliminator team choice of San Diego thanks him for that.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
But Herm is a horrible coach...
Marcie (Pittsburgh, PA)
I am just glad I am not depending on hightower tonight. To those that are I feel for you. 20 yards what happened to the over 75 yards and 2 touchdowns?
Robert (Huntsville, al)
I have the hiccups. Do I chug a beer, eat a packate of fake sugar, or close my eyes and start running full speed into a wall?
Buzzmaster (10:36 PM)
Yes
Don(Michigan)
can't believe I'm saying this but....good game tonight
Alex (Cincinnati)
So what do you think about the bengals?
Buzzmaster (10:36 PM)
No
Pete (NC)
Brendan, NC is full of horrible people who migrated from the horrible northeast.
Robert (NCarolina)
If you go for it and get it..why not go double or nothing and 2 pt play for the tie?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Spoon full of sugar, Robert?
crash (wv)
Herm is out of a job i'd say
Buzzmaster (10:37 PM)
Nearly picked ...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Pete, I know, I use to live there. Oh.. god... does that make me horrible too?? WHAT would Flacco do!???
Robert (Huntsville, al)
Haslett plays to win the game. He took the FG down 40-0....
Jay (NY)
Nearly picked? So it was a scratch?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
this could be danger time for the Niners if they dont score....
Pete (NC)
Flacco would build a wall on the Mason Dixon line.
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
They will score, PEte..
Sand Mann
Im lookin for the upset
Ryan (NOLA)
Flacco builds no walls because he stands against injustice
Buzzmaster (10:40 PM)
Nearly the daily double for Davis, just a yard or two long.
Don(Michigan)
use your hands ..at least reach for it
Buzzmaster (10:41 PM)
Gore brought down by the umpire.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Davis needs to dive for that
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Run the ref over!
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
What the heck...Davis should have got that!!!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Ryan sounds like he drinks the Flaccohol. That's it folks, I'm done for the night after that line!
Buzzmaster (10:42 PM)
Now the Niners going for it on fourth.
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
Niners should go for it!!!
Buzzmaster (10:43 PM)
or not, FG attempt
Buzzmaster (10:43 PM)
FG good, 24-20, 49ers.
Hugh (Jacksonville)
Gore wins it for me in my game against the top team in the league tonight. Who cares which team wins, as long as Gore continues to out-perform Hightower.
Robert (NCarolina)
Davis might be a "good kid" but he has no heart..you dive for that ball. Hell, I'd dive for it playing in the street with my friends!
Camera guy (Arizona)
I dont think we are getting Singletary enough.
Ryan (NOLA)
Flacco mixes with everything
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Listen to Jaws, take the points
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
Well at least they are 4 up now
Buzzmaster (10:44 PM)
Makes it a two-safety game.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
The camera needs to get Singletary from the right, looks more intimidating.
Nathan (MN)
I drink the Flaccohol
Mike (Lexington, KY)
2 safeties? don't tell that to the Packers
Robert (NCarolina)
So I guess taking the under was folly?
Buzzmaster (10:45 PM)
Sheer
Paul (Lorain, OH)
I order food minus the flacco when I go out. I'm allergic.
Brandon (Minnesota)
The Mardi Gras Drew Brees Sportscenter commercial is the greatest commercial of all time.
Buzzmaster (10:45 PM)
Nothing beats follow me to freedom!
Pete (NC)
One more TD and we get the over.
Nathan (MN)
allen could get 2 safties
Patrick ( Louisville )
Childood obesity affects 33% of kids. 50% of football players on the field in a gradeschool/highschool game are 'big guys'. interesting
Robert (NCarolina)
They'd save time if the just picture in pictured Singletary in the top left corner.
Tracy (Newark, DE)
Is it me or does the score online show up before TV? Flacco rocks! Go Blue Hens!
Ryan (NOLA)
Cassel to Lions. That team is sooo good at picking talent.
Don(Michigan)
Detroit SF Seattle come to mind
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I'd say the Lions. They are a franchise dediicated to destroying the future of young talented prospects, same with the Texans.
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
AZ cannot get a safety if the Niners are always starting on their 40 yd line
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Dammit, stop throwing to Boldin!!
Brandon (Minnesota)
One week as a Lion and Culpepper is already a failure.
Don(Michigan)
Seattle still has Hasselbeck scratch that
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
Id take him for the 49ers... allthough Hill is doing a good game tonight
Mike Wayne NJ
Getting kinda ridiculous with players taking dives and these idiotic refs falling for it. Fitzgerald faked his way to 15 extra yards--a terrible call by the zebra.Should be unsportsmanlike to the player who dives. If Goodell is going to fine players for clean hits, how about for this phony garbage.
dave (nj)
atta boy hightower!!!!!!!!!! thats my rb
Pete (NC)
Cassel isnt that great. He has the Patriots playing around him. I'd be good playing on that team.
Robert (NCarolina)
Mike Wayne for commissioner!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Warner is picking them apart
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Well, I lost my game. Throw it to Boldin all you want, but I hope your team doesn't make it to the play offs Kurt Warner. You non-HOF deserving, arthj!!!
Josh (Olympia, WA)
That fine that Goodell handed out was junk. Refs need to take the skirt off the QB's.
Buzzmaster (10:51 PM)
There's a 15-yarder on the late hit on Warner.
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
its time for a sack now... come on defense!!!!
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
Yea....gotta protect Warner, he might break a hip
Patrick ( Louisville )
Hand. Face. Ohhhhh!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Goodell hands out fines for lame reasons.. but by all means, showing your buttocks is perfectly reasonable.
Don(Michigan)
Name a Detroit QB better than Cassel....didnt think so..
Buzzmaster (10:52 PM)
Bobby Layne
Robert (NCarolina)
Warners gonna get me 50 fantasy points tonight...that and a buck fifty gets me coffee in the morning.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Lumpy, zing of the night.
dave (nj)
hightower you cant run backward fella!!!!!!
Robert (NCarolina)
ten bucks if we're at Starbucks.
Pete (NC)
are you serious? another penalty? nooooooo
Buzzmaster (10:52 PM)
Offsetting this time
Don(Michigan)
current I should add ..Buzz
Buzzmaster (10:53 PM)
Flags are flying like punts all of a sudden.
Mike NJ
Zebras taking game over now
Buzzmaster (10:53 PM)
Pass interference on Boldin
Mike (Lexington, KY)
flagapalooza
Eddie Izzard (England)
Pvvvt...Flag.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
no wonder why Boldin is so open. He keeps pushing off.
Don(Michigan)
is it flag day?
Buzzmaster (10:54 PM)
Jaws is peeved.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Mike, that makes me wonder if the refs just want some of the spot light themselves.
Brandon (Minnesota)
How about a tary-o-meter for how many shots of him they get.
Bob (Tacoma, WA)
As the talent level on a team for team basis (other than injury) the difference from one teams performance to another is really motivation. I think that Singletary is getting the 49'ers players and staff to realize they have the talent to win. Motivation is the great equalizer where parity is the norm.
dave (nj)
i say let them play
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
The flags have more yardage then bth teams
Buzzmaster (10:55 PM)
Just a bit shy on 3rd and 23.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Lets just put the Zebras over in the opposite end zone and then they can call the game from there wioth the same effect.
Pete (NC)
Refs should be fined for bad calls. The NFL would be even more wealthier.
Patrick (Louisville)
Kick? No, Punt!
Aaron (New Mexico)
Wow, the refs really love to ruin games.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Boo on Cardinals, this season is a fluke, get use too losing when this is over!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Didier Drogba could make Fg from there
Buzzmaster (10:56 PM)
And draw a roughing the kicker flag while standing on the sideline.
crash (wv)
nice punt
steve
wow this really is the nfl, no fun league
Don(Michigan)
are Cardinals Boo birds?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Booing is fine if your team is losing horribly, but come on Card fans, you should be thanking the football gods for this season.
Charles Barkley (somewhere)
These flags are TURRIBLE
Don(Michigan)
They are still in the game and getting booed by their home crowd ... nice support
Patrick (Louisville)
Drogba? Adebayor could draw the flag from the defensive sideline.
Lumpy (Summerville, SC)
Booo creepy old QB....Hooray Beer!
Buzzmaster (10:58 PM)
Touchdown Rolle on the INT return!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
where are the boo birds now
Buzzmaster (10:58 PM)
They were saying Boo-rolle
Buzzmaster (10:59 PM)
But it's offsides on the D, no TD!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Now that is a TD celebration....but all for naught
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Triple back flip, unsportmanlike gymnastics, 15 yard penalty.
Pete (NC)
I think they're booing because their team is built around passing and catching, not running and falling.
Brandon (Minnesota)
Did somebody mention that refs like to ruin games?
Don(Michigan)
Now you can BOOOOO
Josh (Olympia, WA)
How is that for a dagger!!
Ryno
lol holy cow
MIke NJ
Wow Neutral Zone?
Bob (Tacoma, WA)
In todays professional sports it's not about fun; it is a business. In business the attitude of the employees can make or break a company. The NFL is no different than any other business. The fun is for the fans.
Buzzmaster (11:00 PM)
Um, except the business IS the fans, Bob.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Yes, Shaun Hill is still amazing!!
Buzzmaster (11:00 PM)
Fumbles that one and the Cards take over
Mike (Lexington, KY)
show that celebration again...that was sweet
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Here comes another penalty flag right???
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Aww Shaun Hill isn't amazing anymore.. :(
Don(Michigan)
wow what a series
crash (wv)
what no flag?
Dan (Orlando, Fl)
That right there is called karma for the Cards
Patrick (Louisville)
Now this more like the 49er Cardinal game I was expecting!
Patrick (Louisville)
That was a great defensive play. Sweetness
Robert (NCarolina)
The football gods right the last three poor calls by the refs. Now AZ gets the ball where it should have been when Boldin caught it.
John (New York, NY)
Can Hill change up the snap count for god's sake??? They are timing every snap.
Ed"Guns" Hochulli (NFL)
I will Beat all of you up. watch your back.
Buzzmaster (11:02 PM)
I like that beat is capitalized. We're going with proper verbs now.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Four fingers in the air
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Bob, are you suggesting that Football isn't suppose to be fun?
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
id like to cancel that quarter
dave (nj)
cmon hightown gimme a touchdown
GAR
why didnt Arizona defense recieve penalty for doing backflips in endzone. regardless if call was offsides and TD was negated.
Buzzmaster (11:04 PM)
Because there was no play?
Robert (NCarolina)
Please it's been 35 seconds what does Singletary look like now??
Brandon (Minnesota)
I think its time for a new commish. How about mark schalreth?
Aaron (Denver)
What!? No replay for the somersault?!?
Justin (Las Vegas)
I think it's funny how everyone is saying that call on Boldin is a bad call. Just because the refs never call PI on the offense doesn't make that a bad call, they need to make those push off calls more often.
Flag O Meter (Zona)
A lot
Chris Freehold NJ
these refs are brutal.... I have to go to bed before 2 am
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
It's raining yellow, hallelujah !!
Buzzmaster (11:06 PM)
Can we just start saying, 'A flag isn't down on the play?'
Josh (Olympia, WA)
The thing was it wasnt a push off he was basically doing a swim move through contact with the DB. That is not Offensive Pass Interference.
Buzzmaster (11:06 PM)
Facemask on the D. We've had more flags than seconds in the fouth quarter.
Aaron (oregon)
is it the refs or just a couple pathetic teams?
Buzzmaster (11:07 PM)
After discussion? Seriously? After discussion?
Jeff AZ
what the hell
Don(Michigan)
no penalty ..after discussion
Pete (NC)
now this is just getting comical
Mike (Lexington, KY)
No flag.....this is funny
Robert (NCarolina)
Agree on Offensive PI point but the one on Boldin was Malarky...That was running and happening to have arms next to your body, not illegal interference.
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
in germany we have 5 am... and i guess the refs want me stay awake for work...
Buzzmaster (11:08 PM)
You guessed it, flag down.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Delay of game, illegal flag thrown on a non-penalty play, refs will lose 15 yards on the play.
Mike NJ
Pathetic
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Flag for grounding???
Buzzmaster (11:08 PM)
And they pick it up again.
Aaron (oregon)
no penalty? Shocking!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
lmao
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Refs, please ....
Chris Freehold NJ
a flag every play... what fun
Buzzmaster (11:09 PM)
And 26 seconds, or about 10 minutes, into the fourth quarter, it's 24-23.
Brandon (Minnesota)
the funny thing is every monday night game we all get to see the mediocracy of the refs and the league.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Kurt Warner is old enough to be a ref, maybe he can be in the HOF of referees
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Just one more point for the over, how frustrating.
Don(Michigan)
wow that was a blown oppurtunity defined
RAW (Boston, MA)
A flag every play = more commercials... niceeeeeee
Terry
Expect a crucial Singletary block from the sidelines on this runback
Zebras ( On the field )
In the NFL we have refs in every game, and flags on every play.
Patrick (Louisville)
When did video game commercials start getting more dramatic than movies and car commercials?
Nathan (MN)
what was the over/under in vegas on flags?
Robert (NCarolina)
Maybe the ref can explain every play... and what he, the line judge, the QB, the waterboy and Margaret Thatcher was thinking during it.
Chris NJ
weird no flags during the commercials...
Pete (NC)
Flacco could ref this game by himself.
MikeNJ
Grounding UHHHHHHHH Maybe UHHHHHH But UHHHHH Facemask UHHHHHHH MaybeUHHHHHH But NAAAAAAH
Mike (Lexington, KY)
the refs know the ESPN and the NFL need to get more commercials in....after that is what it is all about
Brandon (Minnesota)
Whats next weeks game? any hope there?
Buzzmaster (11:12 PM)
Uh, Bills-Browns? Yay?
Ryan (NOLA)
Flacco throws flag, discusses with himself, then picks it up
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
We can see the winning tradition of the niners and raiders is still holding true.
Nathan (MN)
patrick, video game commercial are some of the best? do you not want to buy that game now?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Mike, a capitalist conspiracy. Never thought of it that way.
Buzzmaster (11:13 PM)
You know the election went on too long when I thought that graphic side vice president of executive plumbing.
Commish of the More Flags League
Good to see my plan for making more commercial opportunities is working. HA HA HA!
Pete (NC)
Needing a new workout, Hochuli taught the refs how to throw unnecessary flags.
Don(Michigan)
Nice pass rush
Buzzmaster (11:14 PM)
Big first down for the 49ers.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Stop showing that guy in the box, who cares about him!?
Aaron (Oregon)
Battle of the inepts! Zebra's get the spotlight tonight.
Don(Michigan)
Browns vs Bills might be played in a blizzard...we can hope
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Jed York.... AHH WHO CARES?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
is that York guy 12 years old
Buzzmaster (11:15 PM)
Run clock, run.
Patrick (Louisville)
Nope. I'm done spending 60 bucks on video games.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Isn't that all we want Don? more snow games where the kicker kicks the ball into the end zone for a safety?
Buzzmaster (11:16 PM)
Darn you and your timeouts, Shaun Hill.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Yeah, more commercials....
Will (Maryland)
Being a Terps fan its good to see a player like shaun succeed. i think he is showing good poise tonight
Godish (Chicago)
Jed York! My high school buddy roomed with him for 4 years at Notre Dame. I partied with him a few times. Great kid.
Chris NJ
come on do hard counts or a screen to break up the pressure
Aaron (Oregon)
Singletary is going to make a great coach when he gets a QB
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Godish is 65, making us all wonder why he is partying with such young people...
Mike (Lexington, KY)
singletary would make a great Darth Vader voice-over
Buzzmaster (11:18 PM)
I'd like to hear Star Wars with Mike Tyson doing a Darth voiceover.
Chris NJ
I feel old watching all these kids as gm's .... and I am only 43
Buzzmaster (11:18 PM)
A punt!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Gore... ruined that play.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
LOL Buzz....its ludicrous
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
Come on, I coulda caught that one
Richy
here we go cards!!!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
The deathstar: it's defenses are impenetrable!
Chris NJ
okay ...screens only work if guys can CATCH
Aaron (Oregon)
How long till Sports Center starts?
Patrick (Louisville)
I think Singletery is getting more face time than Jessica Simpson at a Cowboys game.
Mike Tyson ( Death Star)
Luke, I ate your father.
Rod Tidwell
Can we call Arizona's new stadium The House That Rod Built?
dave (nj)
hightower out of the backfield
Aaron (Albuquerque, NM)
Why isn't chat around on the Gamecast window anymore? I hate having to go back and forth between chat and Gamecast.
Buzzmaster (11:21 PM)
Not sure, but I'll pass it along.
Will (Maryland)
This Cardinals offense is relentless.
howie(oakland)
This game will be decided by a brutal NO-CALL , thanks zebras , your decisions look like Al(weekend at bernie's)Davis PATHETIC
Robert (NCarolina)
Brendon..That Boldin guy is impressive!!
Aaron (Oregon)
Big play time!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I think Warner is about to lead a game winning TD drive
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
Give up on the run already
Buzzmaster (11:22 PM)
Boldin picks up the first down across the 50.
Chris NJ
blitz warner ... you have to make him uncomfortable.. or he will kill you
Robert (NCarolina)
HOF stat there!
Gary (Joplin, MO)
Warner is looking strong this year, along with the offense. How far can this team go even if their defense slumps?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
and you spelled my name wrong.
Aaron (Oregon)
Get the ball to those WR more, they can make plays.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Robert I wish your state would sink into the atlantic creating the North Carolina Sea, or the land formerly known as North Carolina now known as the NC Sea
Pete (NC)
I thought that we went too long without a flag of some sort.
ZuZu
Daddy, teacher says, every time a ref throws a flag an angel gets it's wings!
Josh (Olympia, WA)
That is a lot of 300yd games at 45% of his career games
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
the first flag for... 2 minutes or so... WOW
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
Warner is a beast
Matt Leinart
Where's the postgame party at Buzz? I got some bros in from SoCal and we totally want to party.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
That might be the most yards high tower has had in one play.
Chris NJ
94 is everywhere ... just a second late though
Buzzmaster (11:25 PM)
And another punt! Anger fading ...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
OOO DENIED WARNER!!!
Justin (Las Vegas, NV)
I dont think the 49ers get that when you blitz, you have to cover the receivers for at least SOME time... Kurt is eating this D alive... What a joke.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
So much for that game winning drive.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Pshhh, Flacco could have made that throw. Flacco has more HOF credentials than Warner... Has warner ever got a pass? Nope.
Don(Michigan)
If you get pressure on any QB it makes his life much tougher
Will (Maryland)
Time for the 49ers to eat up some clock
Blake (sacramento, CA)
The Niners just MAY hold on and win this game.. the bend but don't break defense.. gotta love it.
Pete (NC)
and not going for 2 earlier could be very crucial
Chris NJ
he is moving the ball but not getting as many points as they should get.I would be shocked if they don't pull it out though.and it has been more entertaining than I thought
Jon (Boston, MA)
Why do the Cardinals insist on handing the ball off while the RB is standing still? I don't think I have seen this before, they aren't giving the RB a running start toward the line.
Gary (Joplin, MO)
Count of the 49ers to choke somewhere here, leading to a Warner drive that will shock the nation, that's my call.
Don(Michigan)
Zona D has to step up now ...no long drive or this might be over
Ryan (NOLA)
Flacco has never thrown a td pass to himself. Brad Johnson, your HOFer
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Arizona, the place where RBs go to retire...
Josh (Olympia, WA)
It's called a delay hand-off.
Buzzmaster (11:29 PM)
Picked off, but a guess what, flag.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
FLAG whoda thunk it
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
offsides
Buzzmaster (11:29 PM)
on the D, gives a first down.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Second interception return for a TD that is brought back due to offsides....
Don(Michigan)
No way do they lose another TD
Patrick (Louisville)
Holly cow! What a bonehead
Godish (Chicago)
Cheating is still illegal in football.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Shaun Hill, the master of fooling teams into thinking they have a pick six!
Pete (NC)
arizon-aaaaaaahhhhhh crap
Buzzmaster (11:30 PM)
Way to run, oh, four seconds off the clock. Shaun.
Cameron (Aledo, TX)
stupid penalties may end up costing Arizona this game.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
run the clock out, jeez
Chis NJ
yeah, this one is easy... game winning FG crowd goes home happy
Robert (NCarolina)
Hill averages as many yards on throwing INTS as he does on successful passes.
Ryan (NOLA)
Any chance that Hill sees the offsides and throws the pick on purpose knowing that having it called back will kill the other team's morale?
Buzzmaster (11:31 PM)
Does he look like that much of a thinker to you?
Buzzmaster (11:32 PM)
Picked off, flag down, deja vu.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
lol its coming back
Don(Michigan)
No way is this going to not stand
Aaron (Denver)
FLAAAGG!!!
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Can they have a pick that does not result in a flag??
Buzzmaster (11:32 PM)
Pass interference ... on Bruce. Pick stands.
Patrick (Louisville)
Cheating on SF? Lets see the replay.
Don(Michigan)
Huge play!!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Oh maybe not!
Cameron (Aledo, TX)
whoooooo pickkkkkkkkkkkkk
Mike (Lexington, KY)
uhoh its Warner time
Dan (Orlando, Fl)
That was a horrible pass
Blake (sacramento, ca)
that was a HORRIBLE call
Josh (Olympia, WA)
WOW!! The refs get one right..
Robert (NCarolina)
AZ might score here..Duh!
geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
Nice hit by bruce
Buzzmaster (11:33 PM)
Ben Wallace approves of that pick.
Pacman H-town
who the hell is yelling "aaaaaagggghhh" during every play?
Buzzmaster (11:34 PM)
TD Boldin
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
i hate boldin even more now
Gary (Joplin, MO)
Great call by the refs on that second pick.Give it to Bruce to try and draw the Def Pass Interference though, expect arizona to score and go for 2
Josh (Olympia, WA)
And the cover the over....alright...had me worried.
Pete (NC)
and the over wins!!!!!!
Robert (NCarolina)
Brendon you owe Boldin and Warner eacch a fruit basket.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Warner to Boldin....MONEY
Robert (NCarolina)
There it is my 50 pt warner day.
Chris NJ
I think the GMEN are going to have some trouble with these big receivers... and the quick passes
Patrick (Louisville)
And it better be a nice fruit basket. Atleast one pineapple each.
Don(Michigan)
wow Defense comes through nice job!
michelle (Providence)
game set match
Blake (sacramento, ca)
Question... Bruce was knocked down, how is that a pick? He could have been playing the ball. You can't ASSUME he is going to set a pick
Pat (NY)
Gmen will crush them
Buzzmaster (11:37 PM)
And a flag on the conversion. Figures.
Patrick (Louisville)
Looks like my streak of 0 will be maintained until tomorrow. Hightower total yards.
Justin (LV)
Moving AZ back on the 2 pt conv only helps them...
Buzzmaster (11:38 PM)
Nothing doing on the 2pt. 29-24, Cardinals.
Don(Michigan)
he initiated the contact
Cameron (Aledo, TX)
hah. you picked hightower? good one. Last game was a fluke.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
When the other receiver was crossing over the middle and he runs into LB that is a pick.
Buzzmaster (11:39 PM)
Rackers with the tackle. Nice.
MT (CA)
Looks like I'm back just in time for the grand finale!
Jeff AZ
How's that all you haters
Buzzmaster (11:40 PM)
Yes, way to stand up for your team as soon as it gets the lead, Jeff.
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
Warner played Arena League?
RAW (Boston, MA)
MVP MVP MVP MVP
Chris (Michigan)
This is where Arizona's Defence has to come through huge for them to win the game. To much can happen with 4 min. left.
Jared (Ottawa,IL)
anyone else find it strange the Kurt Warner wears a glove on his throwing hand?
Dan (Orlando, Fl)
That is sad that you get taken down by the kicker
Mike (Lexington, KY)
lol Rackers thinks he is Ray Lewis
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
the game will end 30-29... with the cards missing a fg
JStrick
50 pt Warner day?!? What kind of a mickey mouse, QB centered, fantasy football league do you play in? haha...
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
Ok, so just stop the game and don't call a foul, nice
Chris (Michigan)
Yeah that is a little wierd why he wears a glove on his throwing hand.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
The Zimbabwe inflated point league
Buzzmaster (11:42 PM)
The flag to challenge the flag that was picked up. That about sums up this game.
Don(Michigan)
Challenging the tipped ball
MT (CA)
Challenge? Can you even challenge that? And they only have 1 timeout right?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
They were talking about the glove earlier, it helps with his grip. He uses new gloves everyday.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
well the glove works for Warner
Josh (Olympia, WA)
He wears two gloves so he has better grip on the ball, maybe Culpepper could take some notes so he wont fumble so much.
Buzzmaster (11:43 PM)
Also, a ref saying 'immaterial' to explain a decision. Also sums up this game.
Blake (sacramento, ca)
what? These refs are horrible....
Patrick (Louisville)
Strange rulings all over the place tonight.
Pete (NC)
What the hell did he just say?
Cameron (Aledo, TX)
this game is confusing.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Mike Singletary might punch a ref.
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
So we stop everything and say that nothing happened?! WTC!!!!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
this game is just crazy.....at least from a flag perspective
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Late hit, lol!
Don(Michigan)
late hit
Tom (River North)
Stupid, stupid play. Don't hit the guy when he's on the ground...
MT (CA)
Wow...big personal foul.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
lol, wheres the flag o meter?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Late hit....OMG are u kidding me
Michael (Austin)
I believe Warner also only puts his ring finger on the laces while throwing the football, or at least he did when he was with the Rams
Cameron (Aledo, TX)
this game is LAME
Chris NJ
heavy handed refs and dumb players...long night
Dan (Orlando, Fl)
Hill is great at throwing the ball away and that one went for a few yrds
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Ken Whizzenator. That might have been his second face shot compared to singletarys thirtieth
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I love when fans BOO obvious penalties against their team...it never gets old
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
i guess from next week on there will be commercials ON the flags....
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
17 flags! Wow!
Patrick (Louisville)
Ok, can we shut these refs up. Really, just end the game. I dont care who wins anymore.
Blake (sacramento, ca)
maybe they should have handed out flags when you entered the stadium...
MT (CA)
Cards penalties are just moving SF down field. Crazy.
Michael (Austin, TX)
Hooray! More flags
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Someone needs to get some discipline on the Arizona defense.
Dan (Orlando, Fl)
The Zona Defense is giving this game away
Robert (NCarolina)
Can they just leave the flag on the ground and tell us after each play what it's for...all this bending over to pick em up is going to get a ref hurt.
Buzzmaster (11:46 PM)
Umpire and Gore not getting along tonight.
Aaron (Oregon)
pathetic fouls at a crucial point in the game? Killing themselves
MT (CA)
Penaly on the official for getting in the way...
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Flag on the ref for pass interference..
Ryan (NOLA)
Cards hate neutral ground so much they are attacking Switzerland next week
Michael (Austin, TX)
This is why they are the Arizona Cardinals
Cody (Los Angeles, CA)
Hey! A play without a flag :) its a miracle!
Gray (Chicago)
This game and these teams are an embaressment to MNF.
Tom (River North)
What a catch by Hill!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Nice catch.
Buzzmaster (11:48 PM)
That'll be holding
Mike (Lexington, KY)
holding
Patrick (Louisville)
Holding. I saw tha from here
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
FLAG!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Cody jinxed it
Josh (Olympia, WA)
No the embarrasment is coming next week with the Bills and Browns.
Buzzmaster (11:49 PM)
If it tops this, we're talking about something else.
Cameron (Aledo, TX)
wait. a flag?? what?
Cesar (Long Beach, CA)
Best game all weekend
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
This is ridiculous.
Blake (sacramento, ca)
I don't want to win... you take it.. NO you take it....
Buzzmaster (11:50 PM)
3rd and short coming up
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
wow what a play
Michael (Austin, TX)
This is the National Football League, how does this happen? My high school has less penalties
Buzzmaster (11:51 PM)
The shovel interception. Fitting.
Buzzmaster (11:51 PM)
With a flag, of course.
MT (CA)
What in the world?!?!?
Pat (NY)
Ouch
Pete (NC)
what a tough way to end it
Mike (Lexington, KY)
That was a TURRIBLE pass....OMG
Don(Michigan)
ok now that was a BONEHEAD play
Chris NJ
what a heartbreaker for the kid...
Tom (River North)
And Shaun Hill shows us why he didn't start most of the year.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
That makes 20
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Interception, force fumble, something..?
Don(Michigan)
The Brett Favre effect in action...players trying to do more than they need to to win
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
It's about time the Cardinals put this one away
Buzzmaster (11:54 PM)
Not quite there yet. 49ers could still get the ball with some time if they stop here.
Football fan (US)
The punt, pass, and kick competiton will now be changed into the INT, fumble, and flag competition after this game.
Cameron (Aledo, TX)
In your dreams BUZZMASTER lol.
Buzzmaster (11:55 PM)
My dreams involved this game ending about 30 minutes ago.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
first down and it should be over
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Football fan is probably australian
Comic Book Guy (Springfield)
Worst....game.....ever.
Tom (River North)
Throw the ball to Boldin!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
can you stay stuffed!
Buzzmaster (11:56 PM)
Punt coming
Andrew (Des Moines, IA)
The Niners need an overhaul at the QB position in the offseason.
Nathan (MN)
are you kidding me hill could lead them to a winning drive.
Chris NJ
let's see rossum end the game with a td... like he started it....
Pat (NY)
SF has a chance.
Stafford (Georgia)
Man I hope I don't get picked by san fran.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Shaun Hill wins the game.
Aaron (Oregon)
Bring back Alex Smith?
Patrick (Louisville)
Too bad theres no way to tie it up and take it to OT.
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
YEAH...1st down, time stopped!
Aaron (Oregon)
1 in a million is still a chance.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
hill to hill, love it
Justin (Las Vegas)
Frisco needs a new QB and Zona needs a new punter... maybe they could trade... a punter for Lienart, straight up. That's fair, right? haha....
Buzzmaster (12:00 AM)
First and goal at the one.
Buzzmaster (12:00 AM)
But the clock's ticking!
Buzzmaster (12:01 AM)
And now you spike it? Idiocy.
Football Fan (US)
You've got to be kidding me. NFC West football at its best.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
WE LET THEM OFF THE HOOK!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
oh man Arizona fans are gonna freak
Pat (NY)
Wow, what a waste of time.
Don(Michigan)
No way is this happening lol
Chris NJ
they are killing me ...
Spit (BG, Ohio)
they cant even get a spike right an they may win
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
Oh Lord... My heart is weak... even more weak than the refs
Cameron (Aledo, TX)
haha there is no foul....for the 10th time this game
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
NO FOUL, STOP TALKING REFS
MT (CA)
SF is completely screwing it up! I cannot believe it.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
LETS END THIS GAME HILL!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Buzz was right....its not over
Tom (River North)
The officiating in this game is making me understand football less and less.
Chis NJ
Gore is hurt right???
Don(Michigan)
wow cant say this hasnt been interesting
Buzzmaster (12:03 AM)
Gore stumbles, down at the one
Buzzmaster (12:03 AM)
Spiked with two seconds left
Pete (NC)
what is happening????
Buzzmaster (12:03 AM)
Reviewing the Gore run to see if there was contact to push him down.
Chris NJ
This is just nuts...
Tom (River North)
Wow. that guy barely got a hand on him...
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!! This game is so confusing
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
OH MAN THIS IS INTENSE!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
they lost a yard
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
THIS IS IT! THIS IS GREAT!
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Down by contact on the 3 or 2...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
He touches him but that isn't what takes him down.
Patrick (Louisville)
Down by contact? Yes. Continue play
Football Fan (US)
Almost.... there. This IS a game of inches. lol
Josh (Olympia, WA)
Well, at least we are going to get a good ending..
Houston, TX
They should put time back on the clock.
Matt (IN)
This is going to be a 10 minute review
Tom (River North)
The people at Buffalo Wild Wings need to go home already and let the game end.
MT (CA)
This is absolutely unbelievable. Well, if SF loses, they have nobody to blame but themselves.
Buzzmaster (12:06 AM)
Stuffed on the run up the middle! Game over.
Buzzmaster (12:06 AM)
Curious call.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
terrible call
Matt (IN)
Um, why did they make that play call? That was TURRIBLE
Geoff (Fayetteville, AR)
Cards win!!!!!!!!!!!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I hate the Cardinals.
Pete (NC)
WHAT A BONEHEAD PLAY
Chris NJ
bad deal on the clock...
Ross (Muncie,IN)
Fire Mike Singletary
Football Fan (US)
Are they crazy?? Throw the ball. You're on the 3 not the 1.
Josh (Olympia, WA)
There it is...game over...Gore should have had a TD from the play before
MT (CA)
Dumb, completely dumb. Poor SF fans.
Spit (BG, Ohio)
thats your best play there? Martz is a genious...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Aww come on.
Peter (Burke, VA)
worst play call, EVER.
Tim (Houston, TX)
This is crap. Why didn't they throw? That would've bought them another down.
David PA
wow....terrible call is right
Football Fan (US)
And they didn't even give it to Gore.
Tim (CA)
Was there a facemask at the end of the play?
Paul (Lorain, OH)
Stay classy!
Matt (IN)
Are the cops walking off with Singletary because its status quo or because he might kill someone?
Andreas (Marburg, Germany)
thats it for me... going to bed at 6>10 am... damn cards, damn ending!
justin (Las Vegas)
wow... a goal line play from the 3 yard line? Mike singletary should be sharing an apartment with Mike Nolan after that terrible call. you spike the ball and take a minute to figure it out. my goodness gracious!
Don(Michigan)
Play action pass to the tight end would have been a better choice than that
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Best MNF this year.
blake (sacramento, ca)
why didn't they spike the ball? it was 3rd down?
Buzzmaster (12:09 AM)
And we'll be back next week, same place, same time.
