Buzzmaster (9:50 AM)
We'll have our Monday Night Football group by again this afternoon to chat some football! We'll start off with fantasy football expert Keith Lipscomb and follow him with our X's and O's guys from Scouts Inc. and Football Outsiders. It all starts at 3 p.m. ET!
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:01 PM)
Good afternoon all! Hope you all did well in your playoff games, or in qualifying for them.
Scott (Austin)
Thoughts on Branch, Bruce, and Hester as good plays the next two weeks?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:04 PM)
Well, Bruce has had three straight solid efforts and Shaun Hill definitely looks his way first and foremost. Branch wasn't too bad on Thanksgiving, before yesterday's solid game. And Hester is likely the streakiest of the three, so I trust him the least.Going forward, I like Branch's matchups the next couple weeks (STL, NYJ), but Bruce should be fine as well (especially in Week 16 vs. STL).
Steve,ca
Hi KeithI heard about your loss in your 8 team (should've been 6 team) League..Sorry Man!!! Would I be crazy to start both Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush at RB this week with my other options being Fargas, benson, Mcgahee and Cadillac? PPR League
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:07 PM)
Normally, I'm strong against starting both backs, but none of your other backs are very strong options or face tough defenses. Keep an eye on what Cadillac's role is tonight and see if he gives you any confidence he'll get a bunch of touches vs. Atlanta. Otherwise, it's hard to argue against starting both guys. Fargas would be the back I'd most likely start, if I had to pick from those four, by the way.And hey, fantasy football involves plenty of good fortune, so losing by one point happens! Thanks.
Michael (NY)
Ethics question: I'm up 2 pts with Antonio Bryant left to play tonight. Should I take him out before the unthinkable happens, like a couple fumbles, and guarantee victory?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:08 PM)
I don't consider myself the ethics police and while I'm definitely a fan of playing the game "the right way," as in putting in a full lineup, your goal is to win your game and you've done that, so if you can beat your opponent with one fewer player, there's not much he/she can say, really.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:09 PM)
This coming from someone who lost a game by fractions of a point because of Lance Moore's INT a couple weeks ago, so I can see why you'd do that.
Debbie(Va)
Is Slaton now a must start, even against the Tenn. D.?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:10 PM)
I think he is, Debbie, unless you've got two other really good backs with great matchups. Slaton ran for 116 vs. Tennessee early in the season and even though 50 of it came on one run, he's explosive like that and it's hard to take him out the way he's running the ball right now.
Travis (Indianapolis, IN)
I started both hillis and jacobs this week. Is there any RB from Denver worth having now and should I be looking for Ward/Bradshaw this week?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:13 PM)
I still haven't caught word on Jacobs' status, but it's certainly possible the Giants play it safe with him.As far as the Broncos ... amazing, isn't it? Tatum Bell would appear to be the guy to get, since Selvin Young just can't seem to get back on the field. And while he may not be a great option, he certainly should get a great percentage of the rushing touches, right?
Ryan (Long Island, NY)
Hey Keith, I'm tired of Chris Cooley doing nothing for my team. With the playoffs next week should I pick up Keller or Carlson?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:14 PM)
Problem is, this week the Skins get the Bengals, so they should get their offense going. Tight ends are very tough to call week-to-week, but despite Keller's poor game yesterday, I think he's one of the top fantasy TEs in the game right now and he should bounce back this week.
Roger Clemens (LI)
Big win for me yesterday Keith. This week I have the #1 team. Who do I play LJ Smith, Shockey or Olsen? Also pick 1 RB out of Bush, Jacobs and Dunn? I also have Bradshaw. Do I wait it out if Jacobs is a GTD?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:17 PM)
Shockey has been most consistent and the Bears haven't stopped many teams from throwing this season. I'd go with him.And it'll be hard to wait on Jacobs, if you wanted to play Bush, so you'll have to decide by Thursday. Right now, I'd have to say Bush is the safer play since he's always a threat to score and Jacobs' status is up in the air.
Matt (Chicago)
Cooley disappeared yesterday. As you said, he's got Cinn next week. But would Owen Daniels have a better chance to score against Tenn?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:19 PM)
Players have a tendency to disappear against the Ravens sometimes, so I haven't lost faith in him as a solid yardage option at TE. The lack of TDs, though, I can't explain. I still like Cooley over Daniels in Week 15.
james (huntington)
what kind of rerturn game do you think clifton smith will have tonight?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:21 PM)
The Panthers have done a nice job against both kicks and punts this season, especially if you take away the one punt return TD they've allowed. I wouldn't expect a great night.
John (Cali)
Must make all the right choices in Week 15 to upset the #1 seed (who has beat me twice already this season). Do I go with Thigpen, who torched San Diego for 25 points in Week 10, or Rodgers, who has a friendly matchup against the Jags?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:23 PM)
Thigpen has cooled some recently. Just not as sharp as he was a few weeks ago. I like Rodgers against a Jags team that is really scuffling ... allowing almost 27 points per over the last 4 games.
Pierre Irvington, NJ [via mobile]
how will jeff garcia perform tonight against the carolina defense?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:24 PM)
I think Garcia's a what-you-see-is-what-you-get guy. Not likely to put up huge numbers, but won't kill you, either. I can see him with 200 yards and a TD.
Tom (SoCal)
Keith,Is Brees a must start at Chicago or would you go with Cassel at Oakland.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:25 PM)
I'd go with Brees. Much safer pick in general, and the Bears pass D has been very forgiving.
Bryan (MA)
What are you thinking Deangelo's numbers look like tonight?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:27 PM)
Well, as long as the Panthers stay in the game early - - unlike the first meeting when they were out of it in the first quarter - - I think he can be productive, but not spectacular. I'm guessing 65 yards and maybe a score.
Mr. Burns (Springfield)
Hey Keith, Considering this week's performances, do u like River vs the Chefs or Warner vs Minny for week 15?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:29 PM)
D'oh, did you leave an "s" out of Philip's name?I'd go with Warner every week, because I couldn't kick myself hard enough for ever benching him.
Sam (Miami)
Is Kevin Walter the best fantasy WR on the Texans, even if AJ is the better real life WR?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:31 PM)
Not willing to say that, Sam. But it sure did take people a while to believe in Walter this season.
DGA
According to Portis, he's fine. Think we see him on the practice field this week and more importantly, back to his regular role on Sunday?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:33 PM)
Well, DGA, he has played every week, but I'm really concerned about the pounding he's taken this season. I think you'll really have to take a wait-and-see approach with him this season. Check out Stephania Bell's injury updates and we should know a lot more by Sunday about his very favorable matchup with Cincy.
Justin (Chicago)
Warner is an easy start vs. Minny this week. But does he still seem like a guarantee in New England in the middle of December?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:34 PM)
Well, it's not like Arizona can run the ball, so I'd say yes, unless you happen to have another QB with a crazy-good matchup and visibility is extremely low in Foxborough. Things could change by then, if for some reason, Whisenhunt has a change of heart about resting guys. We'll see.
Ryan (Boston)
Alright - just give me some peace of mind. I need Bryant to kick for 4 more points than Mushin puts up tonight. Do I have a shot? Blink once if yes. Twice if no.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:35 PM)
..blink..
Addai Owner (Indy)
Am I crazy to think about playing Addai and Rhodes as my two RBs next week? ONE of them has to have a big game against DET, right? My other backs are Slaton and Portis. I have to play two.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:38 PM)
You would think the Colts should pile up yardage against Detroit, but Addai has been so underwhelming and sharing touches, I think I'd rather take a guess on one of them (Addai if his shoulder checks out OK ... and his knee, too ... you get the point). If Portis is truly deemed good to go, though, I think it would be hard not to start him, although I'm not optimistic about him being considered healthy.
Salomon Cohen, Mexico City
Hey Keith, can you trust Sammy Morris against the awful Oakland run defense or should I go safer and start Marshan Lynch vs the Jets next week ?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:39 PM)
Funny thing is, I'm not sure Lynch is all that safe. The Jets do a great job against the run and shut Lynch down to 16 yards in the first meeting. Morris, while not getting as many touches as Lynch, may actually be a better bet to dent the end zone.
Steve Smith (NC)
Am i getting a TD tonight? If not, how many yards am I putting up?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:41 PM)
Well, he's been awful good lately, even though he hasn't scored since October. I don't expect another 100-yard game, but I'll say he finds the end zone once.
Steve(Boston)
KEITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need 3 and some have bad matchups or injuries. Forte, Chris Johnson, Portis, S.Jax, or W. Dunn? Thanks
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:43 PM)
I think those first three are pretty nasty, as long as Portis really is OK. And if he's not, then I'd sub in Jackson, since he's a better TD threat than Dunn.
Joe-pa
LIPS ---Harrison or Ginn?? THANKS!
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:44 PM)
Gotta go with Harrison, especially with that matchup. Ginn has disappointed me some.
Bob(Ma)
HAPPY HOLIDAYS KEITH..We start 2 Wr's ..1/2ppr and I have only Randy Moss and Bowe. Do I start Randy vs the Raiders or look on the wire for Bruce, Gage, or Avery? Also Keller or Witten this week? Ty
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:47 PM)
I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I started someone like Gage over Moss and Moss went nuts. I'd stick with my two studs. And Witten really gutted it out yesterday again, but I think I'd go with Keller over him this week.
Logan (Liberty,KY
do u think dunn can pull of a 21 point game against carolina???
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:48 PM)
Pretty unlikely, since he's not a big TD scorer, Logan. But good luck, you never know.
Will (St. Louis, MO)
Keith, I'm planning to start Marshawn Lynch and Thomas Jones this week. However, I'm worried the Jets could go ahead early and take Lynch out of the equation. What are your thoughts on starting 2 RBs that are going head to head?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:50 PM)
I don't mind starting RBs who play against each other. As long as the teams stick with the run, they won't affect each other. My concern in this matchup is that the Bills will have trouble moving the ball on the ground.
DGA
Am I crazy for thinking about starting Branch (vs. the Rams) over Walter (vs. Tennessee) next week?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:51 PM)
It's a little bit of a gamble, when looking at the overall numbers, but the matchup certainly favors Branch. Walter was shut down in the first meeting with Tennessee, if that makes you feel any better?
Darren (MN)
Keeper input please... Who will be the 1 best keeper: Forte, LT, Hillis, McFadden, Brees, and Boldin (non PPR, scoring = 1pt for 25 rush, 25 rec., 75 pass yards)
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:53 PM)
I would lean toward LT bouncing back next season over Forte ... but if you're getting 6 points per each TD, Brees should score the most points in that system still.
Kris (NC)
Hey Keith, Will Tampa's defense get me alot of fantasy points tonight?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:56 PM)
I don't expect them to dominate as much as they did in the first meeting, when they picked off Delhomme 3 times, but Jake hasn't thrown a pick in any of his past three games, and to me that means he's due to toss one. I don't expect a high-scoring game, so that should help, too. Not a huge night, in my mind, but a decent one.
Al (Charlotte)
Keith, do you see J. Stew getting significant carries tonight?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:57 PM)
Williams has run so well, they've gone away from the true split of carries they had going there for a while. However, if Williams isn't able to get it going tonight, I think they'll see if Stewart is the better answer. I don't think the confidence has wavered in Stewart, just that Williams has been that good recently. I think Stewart gets 10 touches, though.
Spyder (CA)
With 3 weeks left will McFadden ever get in the grove?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (3:59 PM)
He's capable, but I don't see it, really. Maybe in Week 16 vs. Houston, but I'm not planning on playing him unless injuries strike.
shawn (brooklyn)
I lost in one of my leagues because I started the titans def over the colts def, well in another league I started the colts def and won next week I have to choose between the colts def against detroit or the eagles against the browns, which is better, keep riding the colts?
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (4:01 PM)
Always tough with the defenses, since TDs can swing the balance, like yesterday's score by the Colts. I think the Browns are likely to score fewer points than the Lions next week, and I think the Eagles will put pressure on Ken Dorsey and that can't be good for the Browns. I'd side with the Eagles in that one. I hope you make the right choice.
J-dog (Ozone, New York)
Keith! Need you to answer this like we all need Rosie O'Donnell to disappear into obscurity (fat chance)! My playoff game comes down to the IDP slot...need 5 to stay alive! Better chance at 5 pts tonight....Panthers LB Thomas Davis or Bucs CB Ronde Barber? (Solo tackles, pass defl's, anything to do with fumble = 1 PT; safey, sacks, INT's = 2 PTS; TD = 6)
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (4:04 PM)
Barber's obviously the better big-play threat here, but if you only need 5 points and solo tackles are worth one each, Davis has had 5+ tackles in 8 of his 12 games, so he's the safer option.
ESPN.com Fantasy's Keith Lipscomb (4:04 PM)
That's all the time I've got today. Here's Gary Horton! Thanks for the questions everyone.
Buzzmaster (4:08 PM)
Gary will be with us shortly, everyone!
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:09 PM)
I think tonight's game is fascinating. Even though it may not be exciting offensively, I think this is an old throwback game to two physical teams that know one another well. I expect it to be low-scoring and very hard-hitting. I love the playoff race we have heading into the final weeks of the season.
Chris (Saratoga, NY)
Bump in the road for the Giants or is a repeat super Bowl victory now in jeopardy?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:11 PM)
I think it's more of a bump in the road. It's very tough in this league to play with the same intensity every week. You have to remember that the Eagles are backed into a corner. It's a must-win situation every week. I do think they actually did miss Plaxico Burress, because the other receivers did not step up. This could become a problem down the stretch, especially on third down in the red zone. I don't buy the distractions were a factor. They had an off day versus a good team--this team is too mature to let one game affect them.
cowboy-San Antonio,TX [via mobile]
Are the Cowboys in grave danger of missing the postseason?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:15 PM)
I haven't looked at all the scenarios yet, but they are in trouble because they have some brutal games upcoming. They play a motivated Giants team that is more dangerous coming off a loss. In all likelihood, at least one and maybe two wild card teams will come from the NFC South. The Cowboys will still have competition from teams out of the NFC North. There's probably four or five teams vying for two spots. Having said that, I thought they may have played their best DEFENSIVE game of the year against the Steelers, and were I a Cowboys fan, even though I don't like the idea of losing, I would feel somewhat positive about yesterday with an attitude that, if we can get in, we're gonna be dangerous in January. The problem is, that needs to happen.
Dan (San Jose)
It's obviously moot, but fun to talk about: If the 49ers had been coached by Singletary and had been playing Shaun Hill from the get go, I say they are 8-5 right now. They're a completely different team than the September / October version.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:17 PM)
They seem to be a more disciplined team, more run-oriented, but it's hard to project how they would have been had he been the head coach at the beginning of the season. I think what they are not is a team that will force you to play your A-game to win. That is a tribute to Singletary and the players. But I don't know if they are talented enough to be an 8-5 team. They are heading in the right direction.
Callie (CA)
Hi Gary,Whats your thoughts on The Dolphins miraculous turnaround?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:19 PM)
When I watched them play, they are the most disciplined and maybe fundamentally-sound team I've seen. If I'm not mistaken, they are the best team in the league in terms of not turning over the football. That can be attributed to coaching the little things. I also see a coaching staff that seems to know exactly what its team's strengths and weaknesses are, and they devise a gameplan that fits that.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:20 PM)
They're not overly talented, but they play it close to the vest and it looks like they almost count on the opposition to make a mistake which they can exploit. They are by no means a powerhouse, but this is a great example of what a strong organization and good coaching can do.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:21 PM)
It's a very safe approach, and if I'm not mistaken, they've only turned the ball over ten times.
Dave (Charlotte)
Is tonight the night that Jeff Garcia's unbeaten streak against the Carolina Panthers comes to an end?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:22 PM)
This is a tough game to predict because I think both teams are evenly-matched and physical. Both obviously know one another real well. I think the difference in this game is Garcia over Delhomme. I think Garcia will make just-enough more plays to keep drives alive and give the Bucs a chance. The film I've watched on Delhomme the past month, I've seen that he has been making some mistakes, and his accuracy isn't very good. It's tough in this division to win on the road. But I just think the Bucs will win tonight.
Keith from VA [via mobile]
It used to seem like Romo threw 3 TDs for every pick. Now it's 3 picks for every TD. What happened to him?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:25 PM)
I just broke him down on film, and were you watching the game casually, it looked like he made bad decisions, and it looked like he did not have good communication with his receivers. But as I watched the film more closely, the Cowboys seemed to break down in little areas, and a lot of it had to do with pass protection by the tackles. Some of Romo's bad throws were because Harrison and Woodley beat the Dallas tackles to the inside. He had to get rid of the ball early. On one play, where Witten ran a seam route and never turned around, it looked like a miscommunication, but actually Crayton was supposed to come inside with Witten clearing out. Had that happened, it could have been a big play. This offense has a false sense of security because of Romo's ability to extend the play with his feet, but they also seem to have little breakdowns that lead to some of those bad plays, whether it's lack of attention to detail, or just being a little sloppy. They just don't quite hit on all cylinders.
Joe (Los Angeles)
Gary, what's the deal with the Jets? They've lost two in a row to below average teams. Are the Jets underperforming, or was the win over Tennessee a fluke and they are just overrated?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:27 PM)
I think the Jets are a good team that has underachieved the past few weeks. All of a sudden, they seem to have no vertical passing game, and they are not stretching the field at all. They've only averaged 3.6 yards per pass yesterday. That lack of a deep passing game allows defenses to squeeze the run game, and their rushes yesterday were scarce. I don't like to criticize coaches, but it looks to me like this is a conservative gameplan right now that doesn't test defenses. With an innovative QB like Brett Favre, I just don't see any of that.
nahum chicago il [via mobile]
i think my man steve smith is going to show up he has great speed who is going matched up with ronde barber who has trouble in the past against him and jake delhomme is jst too good what do u think?
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:31 PM)
That's a marquee matchup in this game. I will say that Ronde Barber is playing at a Pro Bowl level, but he does not have the speed to turn and run with Smith if he is in single coverage, which probably won't happen. Smith is the only guy Delhomme seems to be looking at. The Bucs will have the luxury of probably sliding a safety to help over the top, versus Barber, who will try to follow Smith inside to make that safety help even more apparent. But if TB can take Smith out of the game, they will have huge problems going to somebody else in the passing game. But this is not as one-sided as you think in terms of Smith over Barber.
Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton (4:32 PM)
We're going down to the wire, and I see a lot of conference races that are wide-open. Somebody will be left out that we think is a good team. It'll be a fun three weeks.
Buzzmaster (4:50 PM)
Ken Moll is up next!

kent (n'awlins)
Hey Ken - What do you think are the chances of the two NFC wild card teams BOTH coming from the NFC South?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:05 PM)
Kent, There is a decetn chance of thst happening. If all win two of their last three games (which could happen) - there is a good chance of three teams coming out of the South. NFC North (just one) unless the Boys win two of three their out anf forget the west !!
Steiny (NYC)
Do you think Dominic Rhodes is one of the best backup running backs in the NFL?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:06 PM)
Steiny , Yes I do think he is one of the better Backup ball carriers in the league but not sure he is a Michael Turner type player that could turn a team around.
Starvin 4 Mo Marvin (Dallas)
Ken - Do you expect Marvin Harrison to have the same level of production against the Lions as he had against Cincy (78 yds and td)?
Steiny (NYC)
Will Bob Sanders ever be able to play a full season without being injured?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:07 PM)
Steiny, Don't see it with his size and past medical history--

What are carolina odds for a superbowl?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:08 PM)
Nathan, I had them being in the SB , Beating the G-men in the Conference championship but first things first- They need to win tonight !!
Sal (Palm Harbor, FL)
Do you think that the bucs offensive line will do well against a decent panther rush? Will this be a defensive game or a shootout?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:10 PM)
Sal, The Panthers defense hasn't played as well the least few weeks and they need to step up their level of performance for Carolina to win. No shoot out but I see a fwe points scored- 24 -21 (Panthers)

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:14 PM)
The Winner of tonight game wins the NFC South- I will go with the Panthers --

I'm glad you're answering questions from incoherent people, but not legitimate questions from sane people. Do you see the Bears making a splash in FA or trade for a WR?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:15 PM)
Paul , NO and NO !
Jarred (Iola,KS)
Ken, will you please answer my question. If the Chiefs have the chance to get Tim Tebow in the upcoming spring draft do you think they would?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:17 PM)
Jarred, I don't see Tim Tebow being an outstanding PRO prospect (RIGHT NOW). It's likely Bradford will be the first to go in the draft --
Memphis tn [via mobile]
How will steve smith do tonight?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:19 PM)
Memphis, He needs to have at least a decent game for the Panthers to win. The Panters OC needs to game plan for him to touch the ball 10 to 15 times tonight- I don't see him geeting shut out but would be suprised if he has a big night- The Buccs "D is too well coached for that to happen-
Kyle (Las Vegas)
On the list for the playoffs I noticed the Patriots were left out, You can't think that the Jets are going to make it through their losing streak. Also the Jets play the Dolphins for the final game of the season. Who do you think will win the AFC EAST?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:20 PM)
KYLE, The question was if the playoffs were today -- and yes I believe the Jets will find a way to win the division-
John (Miami)
Have you gotten a chance to watch Devonne Bess in Miami? If so, what are your thoughts on him?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:22 PM)
John, He has really played well (especially for a collge rookie FA)- I like him - He has made himself some $ this year (new contract waiting for him)--

How Do You Think Jake Will Play Against A Tough Tampa Bay Defence
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:23 PM)
Angier,I think Jake will be solid tonight- If OC (Jeff Davidson) gives him some high pecentage passes and run the ball , Jake will follow up with a solid outing-
Lynn (IL)
I have to pick between Philly D vs.CLE or Indy D vs. DET this week. My RB's are worthless so I need to rack up as many points as I can from my D. I do lose points for points scored against which would lean Philly but Indy D has been on fire. Who would you roll with?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:25 PM)
Lynn, That's a great question- I would go with the Philly "D" against a Cleveland offense that is in bigger trouble than the Lions offense-
Cowboy-San Antonio,TX [via mobile]
IF the Cowboys can get their offense playing half as good as their defense did in Pittsburgh, yesterday, what do you think of their chances?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:27 PM)
Cowboys,They have a tough road to get there but they have the talent to do it - WOW it would have been HUGE if they had come out of Steel town with a win but it didn't happen and now they have to almost run the table run the table.
Mike
PLEASE post this. People, I know some fans hold up signs with the letter "D" and a cut out of a fence, but its spelled DEFENSE--not DEFENCE. Thank you. That is all.

Help me settle a bet...will Matthew Stafford be a 1st round pick if he comes this year?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:31 PM)
Nahum,IF, BIG IF they loose the BIG boys in the middle the Vikings will likely struggle to win the division This is going to be interesting down the stretch.

Hey Ken, I keep arguing with my friend but he doesn't listen. He doesn't agree with me that the Steelers will win the Super Bowl. What do you think?

You buying the rumors that Urban Meyer may be heading to the NFL sometime soon? Do you think he could be successful in the NFL?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:34 PM)
DGA, Could happen but I don't think so- I don't belive his style of offense will be as successful as in the NFL - Plus he has better players than 80% of the teams he plays in college / It's not like that at the next level--
The Gang (Fat Pats)
Kennie.. If Schottenheimer comes to Cleveland does that mean we can finally say goodbye to Savage?
Tim (NYC)
Bucs are +3, and the o/u is set at 39.5. What are you taking?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:36 PM)
Tim, I take the over and Panthers -
Vote 4 Singletary (Dallas)
Hello Ken - Do you think the 49ers can finish 8-8? Regardless, do you think Singletary has won the job? Thanks.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:38 PM)
Vote 4 Mike,They could but if they just play well down the stretch I see Singletary being the coach next season- He has brought a different attitude to the 49ers-

Philly playoffs bottomline
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:40 PM)
George,I don't see it- They shot them selves in the foot too often this year (that one tie vs. the Bengals may keep them out) !!
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Do you think Wade Phillips is in trouble if Dallas fizzles down the stretch this month?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:41 PM)
Cowboys (Via Mobile),Yes he's in trouble if they fade down the stretch --
pantherdude89
Panthers will crush the bucs even if the bucs have a stronger defense.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:43 PM)
Pan,No one is Crushing andone tonight- It should be a great match up / close but the Panthers get it done in the 4th qter
Jeff (Adams, MA
The past few years the 49ers have struggled, Ken, Do you think if they're defense improves and they get a little help on the offense side, will they be dominant from here on?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:46 PM)
Jeff, I don't see them being dominate but they can be in the thick of the divisional race with MIKE and a few additions on both sides of the ball
nahum chicago il [via mobile]
i dont know whats worse my haircut or the lions season do u think the lions will be a theart in the nfc north?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:47 PM)
Nahum ( Via Mobile) - MAJOR changes need to take play for the LIONS to have a chance next year - It will likely take at least two or three years as their situation is worse than what the Falcons were last year.
Daniel (Chicago, IL)
What do you think of Denver's chances in the playoffs with Champ and D.J. fresh and coming back?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:49 PM)
Daniel, Getting Champ and DJ back will really help but I don't see it being a long run in the post season for Denver- TOO inconsistent !
Paul (Denver)
You forgot to answer my aforementioned question! Do the Bears go after Boldin, or possibly sign a FA like Housh? Thanks Ken.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:51 PM)
Paul,They may take a chance on one of those WR's but I don't see DA Bears front office extending them selves ( $ ) too much --
Dan (Philadelphia)
wow ken, youre a genius...you dont see the broncos making it to the super bowl? absolutely brilliant.
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:51 PM)

I donā??t know if you follow baseball, but I am sure that you were aware of the Mets recent end of the season collapses, but can you see that happening to the Jets?

Steiny, Well aware of the Mets collapes (I'm from NY and their my team) but I don't see the JETS doing the same thing-
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Do you think Demarcus Ware is the defensive player of the year?

Colin (St. Pete)
Do you see the Dolphins going up to New York and beating the Jets this year?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (5:57 PM)
Colin,Could happen (and wouldn't that be sweet for Pennington) but I wouldn't bet on it - The division comes down to the last weekend and NY wins -
Jake (Syracuse)
I hope so Ken, you dont think Losman to Evans is licking there chiops right now the way the Jets cant tackle and cant cover anyone to save the rears?
Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll (6:00 PM)
Jake, They are licking their chops but WOW have they been inconsistent tossing the ball around- The Jets need to put eight in the box , and blitz the ______ out of whoever the Bills run out behind center--

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:04 PM)
Saskatoon is in the room...Two topics of discussion stand out this hour. First would be this week's Quick Reads, which just went up (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3755131).Second topic: Who's the best middle linebacker in play tonight? Beason or Ruud? Show your work.
John (Miami)
Anyone who thinks Joey Porter shouldnt be the DPOY has not watched any Fins games. The guy is constantly being double teamed/trippled sometimes! We have 0 pass rush besides him, he has to do it all on his own, and every other team knows that. He still produces. Not to mention most of his sacks come on opposing teams WOULD-BE game winning drives. I know sacks arent everything, but the man hits the QB once every what...4-5 plays? Come on...
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:06 PM)
Yeah, I'm not so sure if the guy with Miami as his location should be taken without a grain of salt. Porter's been a great pass rusher this year, but he's a step behind James Harrison, Albert Haynesworth, DeMarcus Ware, and Nnamdi Asomugha.I'd like to see the breakdown of his sacks coming on "would-be game winning drives" relative to other linebackers, though.
Dan kzoo mi [via mobile]
What do you see the lions getting in the draft
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:06 PM)
Matt Stafford.
Jack (Santa Clara)
How do you like Devon Hester's chances to light it up this short week against a New Orleans secondary that got torched by Roddy White this week?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:07 PM)
I don't know if the short week has much to do with it, but Hester's definitely got a shot at 100 yards against that D. They don't have anyone who can match up with him in man. That contract sure looks dumb now, though.
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Who do you see representing the NFC in the SB?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:08 PM)
G-Men. The difficult thing about a question like this is that even if the Giants only make the Super Bowl, say, 30% of the time if they played the playoffs 10,000 times, they can still be the most likely candidate to win and you could still be wrong 70% of the time. The playoffs are a tricky, tricky business.
Lail (Omaha)
Do you expect a big game tonight out of the panthers running game vs the stingy bucs d? and will the bridges arrest cause a distraction for the panthers?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:10 PM)
I think if the Panthers lose, some members of the media will blame Bridges' arrest for distracting the team, and if they win, no one will say a word about it. My feeling is that this stuff tends to not really bother teams -- you don't have time to be distracted.I don't see a huge game out of the Panthers rushing attack, no. They had 40 yards rushing the first time around. I think they'll get more than 40, but if they get to 100 yards, I think it'd be a surprise.
Paul (Denver)
Bill do you think Angelo and the Bears try to try trade for Boldin, or possibly pick a FA WR? Their receivers are nothing short of awful!
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:12 PM)
The last time Angelo waded into the free agent pool, he ended up giving Muhsin Muhammad far too much for a career year. I think he's going to be afraid to do that again. I think maybe they bring in a bunch of low-risk, low-reward guys in the offseason and let whoever learns the offense best win a job.
Fetus from Sterling [via mobile]
Whats your take on Delhommes inconsistent play so far this year?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:13 PM)
I think he's hurting. I've broken down a bunch of Panthers games on film this year and he's just not accurate -- he's consistently overthrowing guys. Whether that's mechanical or an injury (or both) I can't say.
Samuel (CA)
Why don't you guys ever focus on the real reason the Packers traded Favre? He's probably going to retire this year setting the Jets back two or three years with that draft pick they traded and the time they wasted.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:14 PM)
Who are you guys? The pick's a third-rounder at the moment. It'll be a second-rounder if they make the playoffs. I don't know that will set the team back two or three years.
Daniel (Chicago, IL)
Who do you think the Broncos will draft? Will Woodyard be considered a long term option at linebacker?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:15 PM)
Maybe a safety? Depends on how their offseason situation shakes out.
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Who takes over the Head Coaching job in Dallas if Wade Phillips is fired?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:16 PM)
I'd be surprised if Garrett didn't get the job. It would take some sort of bizarre out-of-nowhere candidate -- a holographic Vince Lombardi, maybe -- to usurp him.
Adrian Veidt (Karnak)
How many millions of dollars did Michael Crabtree lose when the Lions fired Matt Millen? (If he goes pro that is)
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:18 PM)
He'll lose more money if he doesn't go pro this year than he ever would have if Millen was still around. Crabtree doesn't drop past either Seattle or Oakland.
Nick (NYC) [via mobile]
Will Mcnabb still be an eagle if they run the table and make the playoffs this year?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:19 PM)
I think that relationship is too damaged. Even if that happens, I would say that almost for sure McNabb will be gone, and I wouldn't be surprised if Reid followed him.
Paul (Denver)
Why do you think Hester's contract looks dumb? Isn't reasonable if he doesn't get enough catches?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:20 PM)
Well, because he was being paid to be the world's greatest returner, and now he's being taken off return duty. It's not that hard to find a receiver with Hester's talents split out.
Steiny (NYC)
Did Matt Ryan deserve to be named ESPN the Magazine's NEXT?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:21 PM)
Yes and no. Yes, he'll be good. No because I am excited about RIcky Rubio.
Allen (houston)
wouldnt a tandem of SLATON and D williams be one of the best in the league, o line not withstanding
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:22 PM)
That's like asking me if a beer would be great, hops and barley notwithstanding. One creates the other, my friend.
Lail (Omaha)
Are Beason and Ruud the most underrated players on defense in the league or is it just me? I think Beason has a small edge on Ruud with his speed sideline to sideline, but the edge is VERY small. Either way I look forward to watching those 2 square off for years to come in the south
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:23 PM)
I've seen a lot of Beason this year and I'm very impressed, but people I respect who have seen them both more than I have tell me Ruud is better. I think either way, when Jonathan Vilma is the third-best middle linebacker in your division, you're doing something right.Beason also gets the edge for being a better rapper.
Larry Johnson (KC)
can i be trusted in a playoff game- I mean really, 11 carries for 37 yards in a game that we led in most of the time?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:25 PM)

Tim (Dallas)
Any chance someone like Cowher would take over in Dallas if Jerry promised to step aside?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:26 PM)
Cowlishaw? Is that you?I don't think that any coach would be so naive as to take the Cowboys job because Jerry Jones promised to step aside. Not even Lane KIffin.
Cody TX [via mobile]
Do you think romo just doesn't have the killer instinct or drive to take the cowboys to the next level. He seems to be content just being a Dallas qb and doesn't really seem to have whatever it is to step it up another notch. I think if he never won a championship he would still be content. I think that is what is holding the cowboys back
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:28 PM)
Here's my problem with that. How do you prove that? How do you know that? Did Trent Dilfer have killer instincts? Did Eli? I'll pose the same question I did in the Giants essay from Pro Football Prospectus 08: The play before the famous Tyree catch, Eli threw a pick-six to Asante Samuel that would've ended the game. Samuel let it go right through his hands. If Samuel catches that pick, is Eli a better quarterback? A worse one? Does he not have that killer instinct? If R.W. McQuarters doesn't break three tackles on a kick return, if the Giants don't recover all the fumbles, and Steve Smith doesn't convert on a third down just before halftime to get the momentum back for the Giants, do the Cowboys beat them and then Romo has the killer instinct?
Neil (Lake Orion, MI)
If the Vikings were to make the playoffs, would they have any chance of making some noise?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:29 PM)
I'd feel better if they had a healthier defense and a better quarterback, but anything's possible. Vikings-Giants would be a fun test.
Chris (Cleveland)
How much will the Brown's actually be able to get for D.A. after his terrible season and injury, yet he still has a prototypical QB body.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:30 PM)
Nothing. Every GM in the league knows that the Browns need to get rid of Anderson and won't pay his bonuses -- that means they'll either cut him or trade him for pennies on the dollar. No leverage, no trade value.
Ryan (RI)
Who is your most Underrated player and Overrated player?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:31 PM)
Underrated would be Nnamdi Asomugha. Mike Shanahan said something to the effect of Asomugha being the most underrated player he'd ever seen in Shanahan's career in the league. That's high praise.Overrated? Probably a running back. Willie Parker, maybe. Chris Chambers, although he's way better as the third option in San Diego.
Brian (LA)
Have you ever seen Barrett Ruud rap?No, you haven't. So how would you know Beason is better?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:32 PM)
How do you know whether I've seen Barrett Ruud rap? Come on now.
Steve (Syracuse)
Do you see the Titans possibly making a run at Warner, or keeping Collins and getting rid of Vince?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:33 PM)
It wouldn't really be logical to get rid of Vince Young, since he still has a good amount of trade value and I imagine the cap hit would be prohibitive. I'd expect them to see what Young does this offseason -- if he commits to the game like he hasn't in previous years, they might franchise Collins and let them compete in training camp. Remember, they have oodles of cap space.
Brew Bucs
Do you think that Barret Ruud is one of the more underrated MLB's in the league? He has led the team in tackles two years running, and this is a top 5 defense. He calls the audibles onfield, and really is the leader of the squad. Why doesn't he get more press?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:34 PM)
I think Ruud is one of the more underrated players in the league, period. Middle linebackers don't get a ton of press unless they do funny dances when they run out of the tunnel.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:34 PM)
I think Ruud is one of the more underrated players in the league, period. Middle linebackers don't get a ton of press unless they do funny dances when they run out of the tunnel.
Roger (Kansas City, MO)
Hi Bill! I haven't seen Aqib Talib mentioned much when talking about the top defensive rookies. How would you evaluate his play for the Bucs so far this season? Does he have a chance to be a top-level CB in the future?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:35 PM)
I think he's done some really good work -- Tampa's the best defense in the league in defending against the opposition's second wide receiver, and Talib's a huge portion of that. He's a great fit for their defense, and there's every reason to think that he should be a very good starting corner for them for the duration of his rookie contract.
Andre, Tampa
Why do you/ and other analysts keep writing the Bucs off? They've been very consistent, and they destroyed Carolina last time yet, you see Carolina winning the division?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:36 PM)
Go find where I wrote the Buccaneers off. Please.
Samuel (CA)
The Houston Texans is the most underrated team in the NFL in my opinion. Which is yours?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:38 PM)
Iggles. Ravens. Texans have the parts of a good team, just have to make sure they actually put those parts (eg Fred Bennett) into the lineup. Oh, and don't invest in old running backs.
Jerry (Texas)
So your saying Collins even after the great season he has had still has to compete for his job next year?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:39 PM)
Collins' is having a good season, not a great one. He's completing 58 percent of his passes and averaging 6.5 yards an attempt with an 11:6 touchdown-to-interception ratio. That's decent, not otherworldly.
Sam (Lake Bluff, IL)
Will Matt Forte feel the effects next season of being possibly over-used as a rookie?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:39 PM)
The Curse of 370, man. He'll feel it if he gets there.
Steve (Syracuse)
No way that Tennessee lets Haynesworth walk out the door right?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:40 PM)
Hard to say. Depends on whether Jim Schwartz stays as defensive coordinator or not, I think.
Mike (Holliston, MA)
Bill! This isn't about football! What's your #1 album for the year? Also, have you heard the reissue of Brighten the Corners yet?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:45 PM)
Tough one. Maybe the Portishead CD? It's been kind of a disappointing year. I've not heard the BTC reissue yet, but honestly, that's my least favorite Pavement album, so I don't know if I have super high hopes for it.
Sam (Lake Bluff, IL)
Beter defensive tackle in three years: Tommie Harris or Vince Wilfork?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:46 PM)
Wilfork, just because he's been healthier than Harris and the shelf-life of injury-prone DT's isn't long.
Westerly. rhohde island [via mobile]
Will carnell williams have a roll in this game?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:47 PM)
Like a piece of bread? Maybe at halftime. You mean a Tootsie Roll? Maybe if they sell them at the concession stands, but even then, it's probably the long ones with four or five squares as opposed to the real-deal round Tootsie Rolls. I don't count those.
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Are the Cowboys postseason hopes over, after many of us,including myself, had them penciled in the start of the season to represent the NFC in the SB?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:47 PM)
Pro Football Prospectus 2008 had them pencilled in for nine wins because of a likely rash of injuries. If that's not an ad for Pro Football Prospectus 2009, I'm not sure what is.Their hopes aren't over. They're just on life support.
Starvin 4 Mo' Marvin (Dallas)
Bill - Do you expect Marvin Harrison to have the same level of production against the Lions as he had against Cincy (78 yds and td)? And, follow up ?, do you expect him to retire at the end of the season or does he have one more? Thanks.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:48 PM)
I would expect him to do even better against the Lions. As for the retirement question, I don't think I can say with any sort of reliability. He's certainly lost a step, but Harrison is an intensely personal man who doesn't often let his teammates know what's going on with him, let alone the media.
ray (flint )
if the detroit loses alll of there games do you think they are the worse team in football history if not were would you rank them of all time worset team
Russel (Oklahoma)
Do you really think the Burress scenario is going to haunt the Giants for the remainder of the season?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:52 PM)
I don't know if the scenario haunted them as much as the actual act of not having him on the field haunted them. The Eagles didn't feel the need to double any of the Giants' wide receivers, which allowed to them push a safety up into the box on running plays and play a lot of either Cover-0 (no safety deep) or Cover-1 (one safety deep) coverage. The Giants were able to exploit that on the Hixon drop, but it also really stifled their running game. You're going to see teams incorporate a lot more of that style of coverage into the gameplan against the Giants over the next few weeks and into the playoffs. I think the best way for the Giants to counteract it would be to use more of Sinorice Moss and Mario Manningham in the slot as deep threats.
john (NB Canada)
What was the Sakatoon reference in your intro? You from Sask? If so what do you think of NFL coming to Canada (Bills)games over next five years. Think there's expansion to Canada in near future?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:54 PM)
Soul Coughing. I'd like to see the NFL expand into Canada, mainly so I could go cover the Vancouver team and move there.
Brett (LA)
Whats on the Brighten The Corners re-issue?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:55 PM)
A lot of B-Sides and a Peel Session with Grave Architecture, which should rule.
Steiny (NYC)
Should the Browns trade Braylon Edwards this off-season?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:56 PM)
No. They should see whether Joe Jurevicius is going to be healthy enough to play, make a decision on him one way or another in February, and if he's not going to be healthy, sign a possession receiver to fill that role. Eric Parker comes to mind as someone who's missed what amounts to two years with injuries, but is freely available talent and will play for the veteran's minimum. I'd talk to Dallas about acquiring Patrick Crayton, who's out of favor there and exactly what this team needs. That'll push Edwards into a role that fits him better and he'll look more like the receiver he was last year.
Brett (LA)
I always wanted Malkmus to call me up on stage so I could scream "im tryin" during conduit for sale.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:57 PM)
I could see that. I always wanted to yell whatever he's yelling at the beginning of No Life Singed Her.
Nathan (MN)
The Vikings 2009 QB is _____?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (6:58 PM)
Donovan McNabb.
Zee (Cleveland)
Do you think Marty Schottenheimer gets hired as HC of the Browns this season? I've heard a lot of rumors. What do you see the probability?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (7:00 PM)
I don't see why not. Schottenheimer's won everywhere he went. He's got a history there and (I believe) he wants to coach again. He's got something to prove. If you're worried about the playoffs, well, look at the Browns' history since they came back to the league. Worry about getting there first before you start complaining about Schottenheimer's playoff record.Maybe 40%? I think he's the best candidate for the job.
Drew Cooper City [via mobile]
What are your picks for the Coaches of the Year?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (7:01 PM)
Jeff Fisher and Michael Smith. I know, it's hard to not pick Sparano, but 12-1 talks.
George (Nashville)
Given the Titan's overall conservative play calling and the receivers' inability to get separation and their tendency to drop passes, I'd say Collins is having more than a "decent" season. Not great, but more than good enough to be the Titans' starting QB again next season. At not yet 36, he's younger than Favre, Warner or Garcia -- so he could lead Tennessee to another terrific season in 2009 (especially if they draft a WR who can make plays down the field). I've never thought Vince Young was going to be much of an NFL QB and he's done nothing to change my mind about making him the starter again.
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (7:01 PM)
Why do you think their playcalling is conservative?
Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell (7:02 PM)
OK everyone - thanks for all the questions and enjoy what should be a superb game tonight.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:03 PM)
All right.. Key interdivisional match-up with the winner probably ending up with the NFC South title..
Kris (richmond, VA)
got a quick Q do you guys think Tampa will pull it off tonight and the total score be over 58 points combined
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:03 PM)
Kris.. I think the Bucs win, tonight, but I don't see that many points.. Defense will win it.
Titan (Dallas)
Doug - Even though they are 12-1, do you see Chris Johnson getting to 1500 yds in the regular season? Right now he has almost 1100 with 3 games to play. Thanks.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:06 PM)
No.. Not with them having to face Houston and Pittsburgh.. Two defenses that do a good job of containing the run.
Jeff (Evans, GA)
Doug, Who should Falcons fans be rooting for in tonights game? or does it really even matter?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:08 PM)
Probably Carolina.. Not good odds for the Falcons to win the division, so they need to be thinking about a wild card berth.. They host the Bucs next week.
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Is McNabb getting a bad rap, or is he the main one responsible for Philly's mediocre season?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:08 PM)
I'd attribute the inability of Westbrook to stay healthy more than McNabb.
Dylan (woodbury,mn)
do you think minnesota will make the playoffs without the williams duo?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:09 PM)
No, if they miss the 3 games, Chicago overtakes them.
Kris (richmond, VA)
you probably didnt see 80 in the green bay saints game either did you? 58 or more points tonight i win 3 k.. give me some luck please 34- 31 Tampa wins
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:10 PM)
Sorry, Kris.. Too much defense by both teams for that many points..
chris
I think Panthers will take a win 45-42 OT
Brian, Portland, OR
Doug- im down by 18.5 points and i have Matt bryant a Tampa Bay kicker and Steve smith yet to play. Can i win? Thanks
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:12 PM)
Brian.. I don't know fantasy league points.. From a football standpoint Bryant should score some FGs (good Carolina D) but Smith will also be contained by Monte Kiffin's Cover 2 Defense.. He will catch some balls but won't get many explosive plays or touchdowns.
Gettin' Thiggy (Dallas)
Doug - Did Thigpen just hit a rough patch or do you expect his production to continue to decline? Thanks.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:14 PM)
Actually he was right in the range of his normal production.. One TD and no interceptions.. 17/32.. He's the type to take the safe pass and not force many.. I think he looks like the future for the Chiefs..
Mike (Staten Island )
Why dont anybody give Phillip Rivers any credit He is tied for the league in TDs and only has 10 Ints he should get some MVP votes.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:15 PM)
It's their loosing record. He IS having a good season but MVP players take their team to the playoffs or at least a .500 record.
rob ca [via mobile]
I REALLY HOPE THE BROWNS GET SHOTY
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:15 PM)
Sounding like it could happen.
Chris B, Garland, Tx [via mobile]
3 things i'm watchin for...D. Williams, Carolina D and A. Bryant, how do yal think they will do?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:18 PM)
Williams will get a lot of yards in the middle of the field but 1 TD at the most, Carolina D will play well, Bryant will catch 2-3 - look for Smith to catch more..
johny
can Adrian "The Cashier" Peterson win the MVP ? thanks
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:20 PM)
He could but I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it..
Bob Smith Dallas [via mobile]
Do you think the cowboys will win out?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:21 PM)
Not with their schedule.. 2 of 3 would be nice.. It should be enough to get them in as a WC team.
Mike (Staten Island)
Norv turner should get fired. agree
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:22 PM)
Yea, I like the guy, but he should probably go.. They are definately underachieving.
Mike (Staten Island)
I think the Eagles will make the playoffs
John (Miami)
Do you think the Dolphins try to upgrade at WR next year? Or do they roll on with Camarillo, Bess and Ginn?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:23 PM)
Definately upgrade.
Brendan (Louisville, KY, USA)
Can one of you guys finally admit that the Dolphins are going to make the playoff?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:25 PM)
It's looking good for them.. SF and KC look like sure wins.. Final game at NYJ could decide it all.
Brendan (Louisville, KY, USA)
Upgrade with whom? Anquan is staying with Arizona, so it looks like. Crabtree is going to be taken early if he goes the draft. Miami needs big possession receivers and I'd don't see one in the FA market or a sure thing in the draft.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:26 PM)
BP likes to build through the draft. They will find someone that fits their system and knows how to be a winner..
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Is Herm Edwards out in KC?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:27 PM)
Herm and Peterson could both be gone.
Chris (new york)
why is the play calling so conservative with Favre? Why not spread the field like they did when they were winning?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:28 PM)
Teams tend to get more conservative as they approach the playoffs.. Weather often dictates more of a power running game (for outdoor teams) and coaches tend to coach not to loose rather than to win.
Kris (Richmond, VA)
How could you possibly say the niners are a easy win for the dolphins???you are a football what?? have you been watching the niners the last 3 weeks there is something brewing in San Fran and it just might be a ring next year!!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:29 PM)
They are playing improved football, but a ring next year? Dream on.
Dylan (woodbury,mn)
Is it possible than the vikings can get Donavan Mcnabb and if it is who would the vikings trade Jared allen?AP?PAt williams?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:31 PM)
It wouldn't cost that much.. He may be on his way out of Phily anyway and it wouldn't take that much to consume the trade..
rudy austin tx
would you start dhominic rhodes or joe addai next week
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:31 PM)
Addai
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Do you think Colt McCoy made the right decision by turning down the NFL this year?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:33 PM)
Definately.. Coming out early rarely helps a QB. He will get more reps in live game situations as a collegiate senior and develop his ability to read defenses.. If he came out early he would probably sit on the bench for a year.
Howard (Birmingham,Al)
I would like to know, was that some bad play calling buy the STEELERS or is it just me?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:35 PM)
Just you.. Remember Dallas has a pretty decent defense. Bruce Arians is one of the better play callers in the league. I worked with him in Cleveland and have a huge amount of respect for the guy.
Dan (Philadelphia)
"Consume the trade."??? Not an English major, were you genius?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:35 PM)
No, I leave that kind of stuff to guys like you.. Consumate, OK??
tim (Boston MA) [via mobile]
Would matt cassel leave the patriots for more money? he has proven hself as a starter butt think he likes the pats and settle for less
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:37 PM)
If the money is big enough he will leave.. I think the Pats are more apt to come close to matching whatever is out there.
Jay in Houston
Is Andre Johnson 1st team All-Pro this year?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:40 PM)
Yes.. They can't ignore him.. 2nd in the league in catches, 2nd in the league in yards. Too productive and he can go deep as well as go over the middle and catch it in traffic.
Victor, Queens, New York
I am a Giants fan and I wanted to know who I should want to lose this game tonight so the Giants will have home field advantage?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:41 PM)
Just win out then it won't matter.
dan (cincy)
is marvin lewis going to be finally fired this year. do you think cowher could end up here?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:41 PM)
He could get fired but Cowher won't show up in Cincy.. He wants to go somewhere that will give him total control and an actual scouting department, not just two guys to cover the whole country.
travis (albany ny) [via mobile]
chad johnson overrated true or false?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:43 PM)
No. If you look at his talent, alone, he is extremely talented.. Bring in his character and distractions and I don't think he is worth it.
Steiny (NYC)
Should the Browns trade Braylon Edwards this off-season?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:44 PM)
No.. They need playmakers. With the right coaching he can return to dominance.
Katina(North Little Rock, AR)
Which defense do you think will out peform tonite (Bucs or Panthers)
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:44 PM)
Bucs.
Alex (San Jose, CA)
Will Holmgren be HC in SF next year?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:45 PM)
No.. He says not and I believe him.
Another Dan Philadelphia
Yo Dan...Lighten up, the Iggles won dude.No wonder I can't get my questions answered. Please give me a reason to start Addai over M. Morris next week. Thanks.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:46 PM)
How about the fact that the Colts are playing Detroit - worst run defense in the NFL.
Bantu (Hawaii) [via mobile]
Bucs or panthers?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:47 PM)
Bucs
babylon (arizona)
Doug, what team do you think least wants to play the cardinals in the first round ?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:49 PM)
Any team that does not have two shut down corners.
Panthers since 96
Panthers
babylon (az)
Doug, honestly what are the chances the cardinals go past the 1st round?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:51 PM)
Not good.. They lack players with playoff experience and are apt to be facing either the Panthers or Dallas - both of which they would struggle to beat.
Dexter (Bay Harbour)
I had high hopes for Hightower in AZ...why did AZ abandon the run game? Wouldn't that only help Warner? 10-15 attempts per game seems very light for a playoff team...right?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:54 PM)
This late in the season it's not unreasonable. Remember his season was over this time, last year, as a collegiate player. He needs to rest and recuperate for the post season.. Limited carries until the post season.
Randy (Alaska)
Doug, do you think the Broncos can win a playoff game? The loss of Hillis hurts and it looks like they'll have to play Indy or Baltimore round one.
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:55 PM)
No.. No wins.. Their defense is too suspect.
Randy (Baltimore)
Will there be more points scored on offense or defense in next weeks Balt-Pitt game?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:56 PM)
offense.. But don't be surprised to see both defenses come up with some points.. Should be a GREAT game.. (if you like defense - which I do).
Adam (Columbus, OH)
Would Cowher really go to Cleveland after all those years in Pittsburgh?
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (7:58 PM)
If given total control and enough money, definately.
Pete, USA
Doug, Why wont the analyst credit the Pittsburgh Steelers in the win yesterday instead of claiming it was Cowboy screw ups, couldn't and shouldn't you attribute that to the Defense that pressured them at the right time, give the #1 defense credit!
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (8:00 PM)
The Steelers have won it with defense all year.. There is a reason they have the top ranked defense, in the NFL. Best overall defense, best run defense, best pass defense, tied for most sacks (with Dallas).
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (8:00 PM)
Thanks for the questions.. Great game tonite - enjoy..
Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz (8:00 PM)
Panthers: WR Kenneth Moore. WR D.J. Hackett, CB C.J. Wilson, LB Adam Seward, G Mackenzy Bernadeau, C Ryan Kalil, and T Jeremy Bridges. Matt Moore is the third QB.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:01 PM)
Bucs: Bucs declared QB Josh Johnson, WR Dexter Jackson, T James Le, RB Noah Herron, S Donte Nicholson, LB Matt McCoy, DT Jovan Haye. Brian Griese is the third QB.
Jordy. Lula, ga. [via mobile]
Doug, what do you think about the falcons turn-around and how long before they're a serious playoff contender?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:02 PM)
It's an amazing story, and I think they aren't far away from making the NFC South even more of a tug-of-war. Secondary concerns, for sure. Thomas Dimitroff needs a few Exec of the Year votes for that draft.
Burt (Antioch)
Doug, can da bears win da division?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:02 PM)
Yeah, shore dey can.
mark
is dunn a big part of the game tonight?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:03 PM)
He'll be a part. Interested to see what Cadillac does -- I expect him to get the ball more.
Randy (Baltimore)
How well do you think the DVOA rankings will hold up in the playoffs?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:04 PM)
I'm doing a piece on divisional DVOA tonight -- I want to see how the NFC East and South and AFC East look. How they hold up? Pretty well, I'd imagine.
Victor, New York
Who is the biggest threat to stop the Giants from clinching home field advantage?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:04 PM)
The ghost of Plaxico Burress, and whoever wins this game.
Lisa (WI)
Doug, is Matt Forte rookie of the year in the NFC?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:05 PM)
Nope. Great player, but Matt Ryan has that award sewn up.
Mark (Tennessee)
How will the Tennessee Titans finish? 13-3, 14-2, or even 15-1?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:05 PM)
14-2. Fisher will rest his guys down the stretch.
Cowboy-San Antonio,TX [via mobile]
Do you think that Romo,s ints are do to him trying too hard to get T.O. The ball? I have noticed a trend with him of trying to force the ball his way.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:06 PM)
I think with a guy like Romo, you're just going to get those picks. He seems to have a POV that has him throwing balls into windows he thinks he can make -- part of the "gunslinger" thing, I guess. The lefty throw yesterday was a good example.
Dan (Racine, WI)
What are the Packers lacking other than experience?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:07 PM)
A healthy front seven, and probably a couple of offensive linemen in the draft.
Mark (Tennessee)
So you say the Titans will lose to Indy in the finale? Won't Indy be resting theirs as well? Or will they have clinched a wild card spot by then?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:07 PM)
Not sure where it will happen, but 15-1 is tough to maintain.
Will (windsor, ONT)
what do you see Garcia doing tonight? or is delhomme better?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:08 PM)
I'm a big Garcia fan -- always have been -- and I favor TB's pass defense over Carolina's. Garcia -- maybe 275 yards , 50 on the ground, couple of TDs.
Alex (Cleveland)
Do you think Marty takes over as HC next year of the Browns, he's had so much success here before.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:09 PM)
Right now, I think it depends on Cohwer's interest. My sense is that the Browns would listen to Cowher at least as much, but there's no question that Marty can still coach.
Jordy. Lula, ga. [via mobile]
Doug, what are the chances matt ryan, michael turner, and roddy white all make the pro bowl? Does one have a shot at mvp?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:10 PM)
Turner yes, Ryan maybe, White, I'm not too sure. I don't s ee the MVP coming from the Falcs, though ROY, coach of the year, and exec of the year are all possibilities.
Carlos (Orlando)
Not to sound like and echo, but the Ravens look pretty good, they're clicking on all clinders. If I was Tennesee I would hope they get the low seed
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:11 PM)
Carolos, right now I think the Ravens are the single most dangerous team in the NFL. That status changes as things go along, but they have an astonishing defense and an offense that's coming around. Love their power running game.
Carlos (Orlando)
What about offensive genious Denny Green for that Brown job?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:12 PM)
Green is what we think he is. Great builder of offenses, not sure about everything else.
Scott (MN)
Who are your top 5 MVP candidates at this point of the season?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:14 PM)
Warner, Haynesworth, Peterson ... and then it's kind of a toss-up. I might put Polamalu in there. Harrison as well. I like the odds of a defensive player winning it this year.
Marvin Lewis (Cincinnatti)
Do you think I'll be fired at the end of this season? Should I be packing my bags?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:14 PM)
Marvin, if I were you, I'd be jumping as opposed to being pushed, but maybe you like a team president who has no respect for scouting.
Brendan (Louisville, KY, USA)
Is Tyler Thigpen the Chiefs QB next year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:15 PM)
Love the Pistol formation and I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops. The question is what happens if Herm and Carl are no longer there.
Cowboy-San Antonio, TX [via mobile]
Who are your defensive player of the year candidates?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:16 PM)
Troy Polamalu, James Harrison, and about five different nose tackles. Probably Shaun Rogers, just because he's been a beast with absolutely NO help at all.
Brendan (Louisville, KY, USA)
Just asking cause the pre-pre-premature mock drafts have stafford going to the Chiefs.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:17 PM)
Well, it's tough to say. Herm has an interesting read on QBs, and I think Thigpen's earned a shot in that system.
Steiny (NYC)
Is Seneca Wallace a better WR than QB?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:18 PM)
No. He hurt his calf warming up as a receiver. The Seahawks need to get off that idea and learn to evaluate receivers correctly.
Randy (Baltimore)
No love for Ray Lewis?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:18 PM)
I think he could get excluded because everyone's playing so well on that defense.
Rick (East Lansing, Michigan)
im down by a whole mess of points in my fantasy league but i still have tampa defense going tonight.you think they can pull off another signature bucc defensive moment tonight and keep my hopes alive?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:19 PM)
Maybe. I wonder if the Panthers don't try to keep it on the ground like they did against the packers, though the bucs are obviously much stronger up front.
Steiny (NYC)
Is this the best rookie class in the history of the NFL?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:20 PM)
Best running backs class, yes. Best offensive tackles class, yes.
Mike skillings Biddeford me [via mobile]
Do you think the pats have a better shot at the div or wild card and how far will they go
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:21 PM)
I'm pretty concerned about their running game and their overall defensive speed. I could see Miami surprising the heck out of everyone and taking that division.
Steiny (NYC)
Was this Plaxico Burress' last chance in NY?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:21 PM)
Oh, sure. That ship has sailed.
Tom (York, Pa)
I know the Steelers are 1st in every category right now, but the Ravens have given up just one offensive TD since the Giants game and even that was aided by a turnover. So which defense is playing better right now?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:22 PM)
(Deep breath) -- I wouldn't put a thin piece of paper between them -- it's like asking who's better between Ruud and Beason tonight.
Mike (Philly, PA) [via mobile]
Do you think that Kurt Warner has a legitimate shot at MVP? His YPG is sensational.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:23 PM)
He's in the mix.
Steiny (NYC)
Do you feel bad for Romeo Crennel? I mean they are talking about getting a new coach while this guy has the job.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:24 PM)
Happens all the time, unfortuately. Living in Seattle as I do, I've been watching Mike Holmgren coach all year with his replacement already in place.
Randy (Baltimore)
Can Philly be dangerous if they sneak in the playoffs?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:25 PM)
Sure. If Westbrook's healthy, that's a different playoff picture.
rudy austin tx
Why are the Rams so bad?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:25 PM)
Bad scouting, bad drafting, confusion in the front office. Same reason most any team starts to fall.
Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh)
Do you think my team is good or great or decent and do we have a shot at the Super Bowl? Who do you think should start Willie Parker or MiWelde Moore?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:26 PM)
I like Moore, though I see no reason not to go committee. Do the Steelers have a shot at the Super Bowl? I don't see a team with a really iffy offensive line getting that far in the playoffs.
Roger (H-town)
How good is Asomugha? I mean, no one throws on that guy. What makes him so special?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:28 PM)
Oh, geez. Everything. Speed, hip turn, ball recognition. I've seen him read a receiver's eyes in mid-air and deflect a ball he couldn't possibly see. He's amazing. Interesting note: Oakland's pass defense has shot up in DVOA since DeAngelo Hall left.
Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh)
But if our offense improves and our d plays the way they have against the teams we have played do we have as good as shot as anyone?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:29 PM)
Mike, problem is that teams like the Titans and Ravens have great defenses as well, and their offenses are hotter right now.
Emanuel (Knoxville, TN) [via mobile]
Out of the Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee defenses which one is the best right now?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:29 PM)
Right now, I think it's Baltimore by just a bit over Pittsburgh.
Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh)
Who will win the game tonight and why?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:30 PM)
I think the Bucs will win by a touchdown. The Panthers' rushing advantage will be neutralized by TB's great defense.
Brad Childress (MN)
Should I still be worried about my job?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:31 PM)
I think you'd better hope that the Williams Wall is allowed to finish the season. If you don't make the playoffs, you could very well be in deep doo-doo.
donavan (albany)
do the cowboys need to win the rest of thier games to have a shot at the playoffs
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:32 PM)
Can't see it. Schedule is brutal and they're just not good enough right now. Their front seven is playing very, very wekk, though. Love me some Jay Ratliff. He's had a great season.
Tarek: (Sterling Heights MI [via mobile]
Wondering if Carolina's defense is worthy of a good game or is a shootout bound to happen?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:32 PM)
Both defenses are strong, though CAR has a slight weakness against the run. The Bucs have built a defense almost as good as the one they had in the early part of this decade.
tim charlotte nc [via mobile]
does delhomme finally have a breakout game and throw a couple td s
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:34 PM)
Last time he played the Bucs, he was picked three times. TB's defense may be better now because Ronde Barber is playing so well right now. Delhomme is in for a real challenge.
Ryan (newport beach, ca)
Is LT's bad year (still on pace for 1,000 yards) more of him getting old or a terrible O-line? They look like they are getting blown off the ball on every play and are not opening up any holes for him.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:35 PM)
You know, I haven't watched the Chargers' offensive line as much as I would have lined yet, but Marcus McNeill doesn't look at all like the guy I remember earlier in his career. I wonder if he's hitting that wall that a lot of young linemen seem to hit. LT's also been hurt, and that's a factor.
Chris (SU)
Can you please answer my question quick. I have to get back to writing an essay. Do you think if the Eagles keep playing like they have been lately. Then they have legitimate shot at making the playoffs?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:36 PM)
Yes, if Westbrook stays healthy. Now get back to work, young man!
Tarek Sterling HTS MI [via mobile]
So what's your final score prediction football guru?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:36 PM)
Heh. Bucs 23, Panthers 13.
jackie, va [via mobile]
Will chad johnson be in cincy in 2009?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:38 PM)
Boy, you've got me. If they wouldn't unload him with what the Redskins were offering (a first and a third, if I remember correctly), I don't know what would do it.
Scott (MN)
Who has been the most surprising, and who has been the most disappointing player this season?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:39 PM)
My most surprising has been Michael Turner. I didn't swe him doing what he's done, especially going to ATL. Disappointing? Any number of Seahawks.
rudy austin tx
How did the packers lose to the texans at home in their kind of weather
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:40 PM)
Because Steve Slaton is great and the Packers have no run defense. Also, Kevin Walter should buy Andre Johnson a car for all those coverage advantages.
Tom v. [via mobile]
The niners have always been my my team. Comeing off a huge win over the Jets I thing Mike Singletary has got them fired up. Do you think that he will be the coach next year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:41 PM)
Yes, I do. He deserves a chance as much as anyone.
Sean (CT)
Will DeAngelo Willaims score another 4 touchdowns tonight?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:41 PM)
Erm ... no. I'd be very surprised if he gets more than one against this defense.
Caleb Diederich (Kansas)
What went wrong with the chargers this year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:42 PM)
Merriman hurt, the rest of the defense didn't have size. Right now, they look like a front three and about seven cornerbacks. Offensive line has underperformed, and LT's down season. Vincent Jackson has been a very pleasant surprise, though.
Andy Reid (Philadelphia PA) [via mobile]
Ok Donovan and Brian have made my hot seat a little cooler. Should I still be worried?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:43 PM)
No. I think your front office believes too much in stability and your team will eke into the playoffs.
Randy (Georgia)
Is Michael Turner the best RB in football right now?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:44 PM)
When healthy, I think it's Westbrook. Does any back make more of a difference to his team?
Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh)
Who do you think has been the most surprising and the most dissappointing team this year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:45 PM)
Surprising: Atlanta. Disappointing: Seattle.
Joe
BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:45 PM)
Now, where's my flyswatter?
Franky (Chicago)
You know, I got the Bucs taking this game. is not gonna be easy and their defense is gonna help of course but Tamap needs to score, there's no question. They can't play from behind but most importantly, I think they can take on them on the road. Not to mention Carolina is undefeated at home so somethig has to give but I like how Tamap has been playing on the road lately...
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:46 PM)
Franky, if they get Dunn and Cadillac going, the Panthers can be had against the run.
Randy (Baltimore)
Quick Super Bowl prediction?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:47 PM)
Deangelo -- don't go outside on these guys. Doesn't work.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:47 PM)
Ravens-Bucs.
Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh)
Do you think Miami was a surprising team or did you see them doing pretty good after theyre 1-15 season last year?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:48 PM)
Big surprise, though when Parcells takes over a team you tend to expect success. Who saw the Falcons coming?
Vince (ohio)
On paper with the core they have for 2009 which team under .500 could turn it around and be the Fins or Falcons of 2008?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:49 PM)
Houston intruiges me. They could put something together. In the NFC, the Packers should make a comeback from injuries.
Alec (Cali)
If you live in Seattle, how do you do these chats? Don't you need to be in Bristol?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:50 PM)
I have a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally long j45 cable.
Ryan (RI)
Do you see Josh McDaniels getting a head coaching job in the off season?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:50 PM)
Very good chance.
Ty (GA) [via mobile]
Falcons 08 still possible?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:51 PM)
Not in that division. They're fighting two heavyweights and they're still learning to win.
Steve (Syracuse)
Jim Schwartz is all but gone in Nashville right?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:51 PM)
You'd think so. At FO, we're HUGE Schwartz fans, 'cause he loves him some sabermetrics.
rudy austin tx
why isnt ernie simms doing any major damage on deffense for the lions
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:52 PM)
Not a bad player, but wow -- I dont know if I have ever seen a defense that bad. What they did against the Titans on Thanksgiving was atrocious.
Vince (ohio)
Love what Jeff Fisher does in TN and that running duo. Does TN go for top WR in FA or Draft? I think next year they will need to pass more than this year.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:54 PM)
Yeah, they like to run a lot of power stuff with tight ends, but they could really use a downfield target. The big question is what they do for quarterback in the long term. I'm not a big VY believer. more because of the spread offense factor than anything else.
A.R. (SC)
How would you compare the Steelers of 2008, to the Steelers teams of the 70's?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:55 PM)
Linebackers may be as good. Front 3/4 was better then, but you're talking all-time best. Secondary might have been better then, though I'd take Polamalu before just about anyone.Better QB, RB, WR then. Better OL then.
Tom (River North)
What are your thoughts on Jerry Jones questioning Barber's toughness? Why would people want to play for these guys?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:57 PM)
I have a real problem with that. I don't know Barber's circumstances, but he's played through a lot of pain with a very dynamic style, and if there's a player who I'd believe couldn't play by default, it'd be him.
James Moore, San Jose, CA
One quick sideline note... It Was 28 Years Ago tonight (Monday, Dec. 8th, 1980) during the Monday Night Football Game that Howard Cosell announced the tragic loss of John Lennon to the viewing audience.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:58 PM)
James, I was watching that game. Such a tragic moment.
Vince (ohio)
I understand this league is a win now, and Fins and Falcons prove a change can be big, and talk of 6 to 8 opennings, and outside of a few teams like Indy/Bucs/Pats what is the employment life of a head coach?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (8:59 PM)
I think it depends so much on the whims of your owner. IN Oakland, coaches have no shelf life. In Pittsburgh, you last for decades.
Evan (Shreveport)
If the super bowl was today, who would play in it and who would win?
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (9:00 PM)
If it was today, I'd go with the Ravens, just based on what I saw last night. Really looking forward to PIT-BAL next week.
Football Outsiders Doug Farrar (9:00 PM)
However, it's time for me to step aside and enjoy THIS fine game, leaving you in the capable hands of the Buzz. Take care and have a great holiday season!
Buzzmaster (9:02 PM)
Thanks Doug! Let's get started!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Buzz. Weis. Er.
Joe
Buzz! Yay!
Buzzmaster (9:02 PM)
My public needs me.
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
what up buzz
Buzzmaster (9:03 PM)
Just happy to see Cadillac Williams back on the field. What's up with you, E?
Steve (Syracuse)
I've got a fever...and the only perscription is MORE PUNTS!
Buzzmaster (9:03 PM)
I'd rather be put down.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
You are the peoples choice.
Buzzmaster (9:05 PM)
I'm a populist chat host. I'll say whatever I think you want to hear.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
No punts tonight. An atypical MNF....
Jay (NY)
More Cowbell!
Matt (IN)
Buzz just got here and already the chat is broke
A.R. (SC)
Rookie of the year, Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco?
Buzzmaster (9:06 PM)
I really like Joe Flacco, but I think Ryan will get it. But what about Chris Johnson. I think he should get a littl credit for what he's done this year.
Sean Avery (suspended)
These punters are giving you my sloppy seconds
Buzzmaster (9:07 PM)
Okay, that's it. This is the last Avery related comment that will be put up.
Templar
BTW has anyone noticed TITANS are 12-1?
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Joe Flacco started off inconsistent. Matt Ryan has been exceptional all year. As has Chris Johnson.... Go ECU!
Mike (Sarasota)
another boring Tampa game
Jack Va [via mobile]
I think if Carson comes back healthy next year the Bengals have the talent to make a run, u agree?
Buzzmaster (9:11 PM)
I think that division will belong to the Steelers and Ravens in the coming years...you can have the...wow, almost pulled an Avery.
Steve (Syracuse)
Carson doesnt suddenly make the defense tackle better, or make plays.
Ryan (NOLA)
Will Carson be their running back? I think Cincy needs that more.
Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh)
No Bengals need to start over with everything they are terrible
Mike (Lexington, KY)
who-dey
Buzzmaster (9:12 PM)
They are 1-11-1.
Joe
I think someone needs to make some hardcore renditions of traditional christmas music. What you think Buzz?
Buzzmaster (9:13 PM)
I have never heard anyone suggest or want something like that.
Jay (NY)
I think Jack Va is actually via another dimension where the Bengals are actually good.
Buzzmaster (9:13 PM)
Okay, let's stop, we know the Bengals are bad.
templar37221
also Titans beat the RAVENS!
Steve (Syracuse)
They should send the Bengals and Lions overseas to play a game...no one would complain then....except for those overseas...
Aaron (Albuquerque, NM)
I want that Buzz. As it stands, I have to make due with Lovecraftian carols.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Yeah....Silent Night by Motorhead
Buzzmaster (9:15 PM)
Bengals-Lions overseas would cause an international incident.
Jay (Cincy, OH)
Not who-dey.... it now.... WHERE-DEY....
Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)
If anyone brings the xmas music any harder than the trans-siberian orchestra or the manheim steamroller, and i'm out.
joe (dirty jersey)
c'mon man, the eagles beat up on the giants yesterday! they're goin to the playoffs!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
That would be a real.... cat fight! AHAHAHA
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Silver bells.
Tom (River North)
I am pretty sure I've heard a metal version of Joy to the World before.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Steve, wasn't that called NFL Europa....
Jack Va [via mobile]
Bengals should have beat ur giants or jets , I take Palmer over eli or brett anyday
Buzzmaster (9:19 PM)
Yeah, those two have only won Super Bowl MVPs.
Nate (UT)
Steelers have got their division easy they got Ravens next week Flaco will be shut down for sure
Aaron (Albuquerque, NM)
I kind of have to wonder. Given the topics of conversation tonight, is anybody actually watching the game?
Tom (River North)
Brendan deserves a 15 yard penalty for that awful joke.
Alex(Bend)
Catch
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Wow, Steve Smith. Nice catch
Steve, NC
Can anyone stop Steve Smith!!!!
Buzzmaster (9:21 PM)
Ronde Barber with the pick...if it stands, which it looks like it will.
Franky (Chicago)
Nice pick right there by Barber.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Wow, Ronde Barber. Nice catch
Terry, Ny [via mobile]
I remember when the jets was just as bad as lions, bengals,
Dave(vt)
Sup Buzzy, im "watching" the game on gamecast cuz the fiancee has control of the tv tonight.
Buzzmaster (9:22 PM)
You need to get a second TV before you get married.
Aaron (Albuquerque, NM)
Ronde is the better Barber brother. Yes or yes?
Buzzmaster (9:23 PM)
Clearly; Tiki couldn't cover anyone.
Dave(vt)
Agreed, its coming for christmas.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
I love all these commercials with a little bit of game in between
Patrick ( Louisville )
Not me Buzz. I'm more of a DVR/music guy than a TV guy...and yet I am going to watch 5 hours of sports tonight...nevermind.
joe (dirty jersey)
im surprised youre doing this chat buzz. dont you usually go to bed at 5 to wake up earily for the MB?
Buzzmaster (9:25 PM)
I need 17 hours of sleep for the Morning Buzz? I love the MB, but you don't exactly need a full night's rest to hang in with the type of conversations we have.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
That's caught.
Ryan (NOLA)
Tiki can barely cover the news
Joe
Come on Warrick! Need a few more points out of you!
Chris (Dallas)
Man not warrick i need Gamble to get a pick six for me to stay ahead of Steve Smith and Deangelo Williams!!!! To win my playoff game.
Aaron (Albuquerque, NM)
Don't even talk about sleep. I'm looking at 2 hours sleep in 24 hours because my job can't get it together.
Matt (IN)
Ha..Buzz isn't early for anything except when pop tarts go on sale
Luke (Milwaukee)
who starts warrick dunn?
Jay (NY)
Buzz sleeps less for the MB just so he can be on the same wavelength as the participants which is hungover, clueless and lazy yet very well fed.
Joe
The MNF punt-o-meter is officially dead
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Buzz, how's it going?
Buzzmaster (9:29 PM)
Well the game could be better.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Thats why Diggs is on defensse
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
Buzz, snowstorm hitting Marinette so you might get to see me on the MB tomorrow!
Buzzmaster (9:30 PM)
We'll be waiting.
Steiny (NYC)
Ladies and gentlemen, it is my distinct honor to announce todayā??s players of the game. For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming in at 6-3 220 pounds from Oregon Josh Bidwell. And for the Carolina Panthers coming in at 6-2 205 pounds from Iowa, Jason Baker.
Buzzmaster (9:31 PM)
Ike Hilliard?!
Buzzmaster (9:31 PM)
He was old when he left the Giants 30 years ago.
Jeff (Ft.Wayne IN)
could we possibly see a Miami, Tampa Superbowl in Tampa?
Buzzmaster (9:31 PM)
I hope not.
Patrick ( Louisville )
FUMBLE!
Steiny (NYC)
Interesting fact here, Jason Baker the Panthers punter played with three teams in 2004. The Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos. It is nice to see that he has finally found a home in Carolina.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
If this game ends 3-0, I'll be super angry.
Buzzmaster (9:32 PM)
Ask and ye shall...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Buzz, come on. Miami, the story 1-15 to Super bowl contender.... thats epic. I'm shocked.
Buzzmaster (9:33 PM)
They're not even in the playoffs yet, in a competitive AFC East, and we're talking Super Bowl?
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
I hope that wasn't sarcasm, Buzz, because I've trying to be nice to you lately. I don't boo you and I even dropped the corny names.
Buzzmaster (9:34 PM)
Dude, no sarcasm at all.
Mike (Mill Creek, WA)
miami will choke down the stretch
Joe
I live me some Jim Mora press conferences
Alex(Bend)
That was a TD
Matt (IN)
I don't believe Baker ever punted for the Colts, though he is a punter. He was signed to handle the kickoffs, because The Idiot Kicker couldn't kick one deeper than about the 15 yard line.
AP(ChiTown)
sooooo close
joe (dirty jersey)
that was NOT a TD.
Buzzmaster (9:36 PM)
Beason is a maniac!
Jeff (Ft. Wayne IN)
Im sorry about the fins thing i havent been this happy for my team since they pummeled the pats in week 3. one more win and their 900% better than last year
Buzzmaster (9:37 PM)
Hey man, you should be pumped. Did you see that d-lineman get lit up on that scramble!
Joe
Why not give it to Warrick??????
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
3-3, dreams do come true!
Jeff (Ft. Wayne IN)
i was expecting more of a game and less of a kicker and punter audition.
Brady (Colorado)
BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZY!
Buzzmaster (9:42 PM)
Excitement! Excitement!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
DEANGELO....sweet
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
NICE RUN!!!
Matt (IN)
Yay, a first down to keep the drive alive. We may see a touchdown yet
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Panther Power
Chris
Please go get some oxygen Deangelo before you destroy my fantasy team.
Buzzmaster (9:45 PM)
Uh oh...did they get too close? Will we see a TD?
Darrel (Moscow)
6 running plays in a row. Caught somebody by surprise.
Jon Gruden (on the sideline)
Ok, I love Monte too, but tell those guys to stop talking about him. I'm the genius here.
Buzzmaster (9:46 PM)
Shouldn't you be coaching?
Buzzmaster (9:48 PM)
Touchdown!
Matt (IN)
Yay, a touchdown
Mike (Lexington, KY)
TD nice....impressive drive
Matt (IN)
Ha..first time Ive seen the Shaq scrabble commercial. Good stuff
joe (dirty jersey)
shaq-tastic.
Deangelo Williams
Just checking my email since Coach Fox doesn't want to give me the ball
Buzzmaster (9:52 PM)
Some big hitting going on.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Egg nog > sierra mist
Buzzmaster (9:53 PM)
You must really like the nog.
Patrick ( Louisville )
This game is heating up. Unfortunately its getting close tothe half
Tom (River North)
Eww...Sierra Mist.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Sack.. that was exciting.
Patrick ( Louisville )
I think I'm going to make real eggnog this xmas. Anyone have a good booze cocktail to add?
Buzzmaster (9:54 PM)
Zima.
joe (dirty jersey)
nice non-block by warrick dunn there...
Chris
Egg Nog??? Nothing good goes with egg nog imo.
panthers
you couldn't do better
Joe (SouthPhilly)
Ok Buzz was it you who told these 2 teams they were in fact allowed to run the ball?
Matt (IN)
You put vodka in eggnog. I thought everyone knew that
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Buzz, they don't even make Zimas anymore... not that I drank Zima.... but... you know what I'm saying!!!
Buzzmaster (9:56 PM)
I make my own Zimas in my basement.
justin (atlanta)
peppers is a monster
Mike (Lexington, KY)
a friend of mine was in Zima commercial
Ryan Englewood Florida
The bucs gotta score in the redzone
Jeff (Ft. Wayne IN)
bucs have zilch offense should they be concerned if the and they probably will make the playoffs
Mike
Carolina's carrying some good momentum into the half. And we get the ball back to begin the third quarter. This is gonna be a total reverse of Week 6.
Jon
Come'on Man! Take the time out and get a final play toward the end zone... you were in striking distance.
Bryon,Tn [via mobile]
Falcons make playoffs, Monte leaves Bucs for the Vols!
Chris
Uh its only a one score game and with Garcia seriously who knows what can happen. Tampas D will tighten it up im sure.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Lions 0-16? Can... they.. go... all... the.. way!?? WHOOOP!
Chris
No no no the bucs need to throw it to Gamble more thats all....
Steiny (NYC)
Back after half-time.
mike (camden sc)
not a momentum type of guy but it looks like carolina is carrying that momentum.
mike (camden sc)
there d is pretty much getting walked on and so is there offense.garcia isnt what he used to be.
Carolina Joe
Deangelo Williams: 1 fumble is 464 carries, including tonight. Last fumble: week 11 of 2006. This guy is unbelievably consistent
Buzzmaster (10:05 PM)
I have to say, this Greatest Game in color looks AWESOME.
Matthew and JT
panthers panthers
Joe
Who says that 3D football would be AMAZING?
Patrick ( Louisville )
Worst game in color...Bengals v Browns.
Franky (Chicago)
it does, right Buzz? Cool stuff.
Buzzmaster (10:09 PM)
I'm very interested to see which former players will be involved in looking back at the game...Lenny Moore is a great start.
Ryan (Englewood FL)
2nd half come on bucs
David (Elberton, GA)
I think the Panthers have one of the best RB Tandoms in the NFL this year.
Buzzmaster (10:10 PM)
Probably underrated.
AP(ChiTown)
Let's have a little passing please
David (Elberton, GA)
I still can not believe the refs missed 2 fumbles in the first half...
Buzzmaster (10:13 PM)
Stewart running over people left and right. Nice attitude with that run.
Thomas (Charlotte, NC)
I think we are gonna keep running all over this "tough" Tampa D
David (Elberton, GA)
WOW great run by Stew
brad (charlotte)
panthers have 2nd most rushing td's this year. how deangelo and j. stewart don't get more props is amazing. not that i'd have it any other way.
Steiny (NYC)
Interesting Facts about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers lost their first 26 games, not winning a game until near the end of their second season. Also, at one time, the Buccaneers had a string of 14 consecutive losing seasons.
Patrick ( Louisville )
That would have been a phantom call in basketball.
AP(ChiTown)
INT!
Franky (Chicago)
Alright Bucs, let's get something going baby...get some points at least.
Zach Rastall (Marinette, WI)
I have a feeling the Lions will go 0-15 and then beat the Packers.
Thomas (Charlotte, NC)
When they had that not so cool pirate image...and talk about bad luck for Carolina
Buzzmaster (10:18 PM)
I liked the old orange unis featuring Bucco Bruce!
Mike (San Diego)
I got the bucs and Warrick Dunn on this I see a TD in his future...plus hes my fantasy go to guy after Michael Turner of course
Buzzmaster (10:19 PM)
TD, if the play stands!
Buzzmaster (10:19 PM)
Bryant is having a nice season.
Buzzmaster (10:19 PM)
TD stands.
Matt (IN)
Those unis were great...perfect for the 70s
Patrick ( Louisville )
That olde pirate was suave
Jeff Garica [via mobile]
Wished I was playin in dallas with my good friend TO , this offense is borin
Franky (Chicago)
There you go Bucs, good job!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
game getting better
Mike (Lexington, KY)
crazy turn of events
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Interesting fact on the name Buccaneer: the original boucaniers were marooned seamen who cured strips of beef on a barbecue called a boucan, hence Buccaneer.
Dan (Raleigh)
Everyone is talking about Delhomme and how vital he is to the Panthers. He's not that good. The Panthers would be a dominant team with better QB play. He costs them more games than he wins them.
Chris (Philadelphia)
i hated the old uniforms for the bucs ... i absolutetely love the new ones.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Dan, that may be true, but last year, before his tommy john, he was also 8-1 td int ratio and they had won a few games. He's not all bad, but not great. A Matt Hasselbeck kind of player.
Buzzmaster (10:26 PM)
Wow, this is a very different game from the first half! TD Steve Smith!
joe (dirty jersey)
when did this game decide to get good?
Mike (Lexington, KY)
a tale of 2 halves....nice drive
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
and thats why you love Jake Delhomme... right there. He's also gunning for steve smith.
Dan (Raleigh)
Its easy to look good when you throw to Steve SmithLike that... too easy with routes run like that... wow
David (Elberton, GA)
Way to answer back... Steve Smith Pro Bowl bound no doubt...
Matt (IN)
Ha..Delhomme sure sucks, doesn't he? Touchdown
Robert (Carson City, NV)
That was well executed.
Joshua(Jersey)
Steve Smith is the truth.. anybody catch that bio about him?? "I'm everything they say I'm not."
Joe (SouthPhilly)
Delhomme's 2 interceptions gave Tampa 10 points 1 Td doesn't take that away does it
Justin (Atlanta)
come on dunn... i need some points
Mike (Lexington, KY)
bad spot
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
grown men with their faces panted like a panther.... C'MON MAN!!!!
Buzzmaster (10:34 PM)
Ha! Excellent use of COME ON, MAN!
Matt (IN)
Thats a horrible spot
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Chucky never looks happy
Steiny (NYC)
Beason = beast.
Buzzmaster (10:35 PM)
Antonio Bryant is on fire!
Buzzmaster (10:35 PM)
And then gets a stupid penalty.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
dumb dumb penalty
Chris
Big first down there!!!!
Buzzmaster (10:37 PM)
Nice run by Cadillac Williams!
Larry Redford Michigan
Damn is it me?? are the Panthers that weak on the corners or what?
Steiny (NYC)
Bryant is owned is 86.2 of ESPN Fantasy Football Leagues.
Buzzmaster (10:38 PM)
Buzz included.
joe (dirty jersey)
aannnddd we have a game 'gents.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
TD
Dan (Raleigh)
And now we're going to see Personal Fouls all over the place because the refs didn't take control of the game early on
Franky (Chicago)
Getting intense now...
joe (dirty jersey)
beason got beasted.
Justin (Atlanta)
Knowshon Moreno is alot like Cadillac Williams
Ogre (Adams College)
Buzz, fantasy football is for NERDS!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
so is anyone watching The Hills aftershow....:))
Buzzmaster (10:41 PM)
Mike...please leave.
Steiny (NYC)
Cadillac Williams 7 rushes for 100 yards and 1 TD. Cadillac is back!!!!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Thanks Buzz.... I was just about to boil over with anger. Football and teen drama don't mix.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
LMAO...i would never watch that junk...if so please take my man card
joe (dirty jersey)
i just picked up antonio bryant. i needed a 4th WR for my fantasy playoffs.
Matt (IN)
Great, the Romo commercial. He needs to be answering phones
Bob OU [via mobile]
My sooners are goin to whoop them gators butts, 60 to 21
Matt (IN)
So much for Beason being a beast...at least on that play anyway
Steiny (NYC)
The center on the extra point was Andrew Economos. Cool last name.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
I love dummy calls by QBs. I don't know if Peyton Manning popularized them, it's just fun to watch.
Matt (IN)
Nice catch by Smith there.
Jeff, Ky [via mobile]
U must watch hills to know it has a after show, ya sissy
David (Elberton, GA)
Great game so far!
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Buzz, it's kind of slow in here. Not posting when the game is on or you just slacking?
Buzzmaster (10:49 PM)
Slacking.
oneil (indiana)
the panthers have a chance to be the 2nd best team in the NFC. they making the best out of out!!!Go panthers
Buzzmaster (10:51 PM)
Wow, it's amazing how this game has changed.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
We depend on you to get our voice out.... without you the masses are silent.
David (Elberton, GA)
Least your honest Buzz haha
Brady (Colorado)
We should have a live Sportsnation meeting in denver at coors field. and buzz isn't slacking, he's being normal.
Tom (River North)
If I can get a couple scores out of Delhomme I may pull of an improbable comeback against my greatest nemesis.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Panthers 154 yards rushing in 3 quarters....wow
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Alright, I'm finally here after wings, beer, seeing the girlfriend and more beer. Looks like a good game. Missed anything important?
Buzzmaster (10:52 PM)
You've missed a great second half.
Buzzmaster (10:52 PM)
Stewart with a TD!
David (Elberton, GA)
What a great game...
Jake (Duluth)
TD Panthers, Be prepared for family matters updates in t minus 7 minutes.
Chris
Why Coors field lol??? I grew up in Denver and still wouldnt want to.
Joe (SouthPhilly)
Carolina might have both their Rb's go over 100Yards
David (Elberton, GA)
Dark Knight commercial... Looking forward to buying that tuesday
Mike (Lexington, KY)
This 4th quarter is going to be wild
bob (nj)
how is it that Williams was good enough to use short yardage last week, and this week he can't see the ball inside of the 30 yard line?
Buzzmaster (10:54 PM)
Because there is a fantasy conspiracy.
Dan (Raleigh)
Wow... win or lose, the Panthers are sending a message to the NFL that they can, and will, run the ball down your throat. Which is scary, because if you commit to that, Steve Smith burns you deep or Muhammad gets the 10 yard slant. Unbelievable the amount of weapons they have.
Dan (Raleigh)
LOL... that is why kickers don't tackle
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
I'm beating a 13-0 guy 126 to 61 after the first week of playoffs. Yeah, that's right, my 8-5 teams is killin!
Josh (NC)
SACK!!!!!! HOW ABOUT THAT
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Anyone else remember when Gruden tried benching Garcia earlier this year? He has serious QB commitment issues...
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Punt-o-meter: 1?
Buzzmaster (11:04 PM)
Running wild!
Josh (NC)
first place here we come
Mike (Lexington, KY)
who saw that shirtless Pittsburgh fan give himself a gatorade bath yesterday....talk about insane
Buzzmaster (11:05 PM)
Okay, this is a little out of control. No one can stop Jonathan Stewart.
David (Elberton, GA)
100 yds for Stewart
Mike (Lexington, KY)
that was a serious stiff-arm
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
It's nice to see that running against the Cover 2 is still the way to beat them. The D line is so over aggressive, you can beat them if you block decently. It was the same thing 8 years ago against the Bucs. For some reason, everyone just felt the need to pass against them...
Joe (SouthPhilly)
Carolina now know's Tampa can't stop the run so run the ball more often
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Panther Power
Darrel (Moscow)
Both RB's over 100yds. Who would have thought that.
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
Nice job panthers. Just running it down their throat.
Steve (NJ)
Oh my goodness, this running game is amazing!
David (Elberton, GA)
Wow incredible...
Patrick ( Louisville )
Wow, I just emerged from a pizza coma to see 31 points...what the?
Tom (River North)
Let's go Panthers! One more TD!
David (Elberton, GA)
Maybe the BEST running tandom in the NFL?
Dan (Raleigh)
Seriously, John Fox, next time you have to play the game on All-Madden, not Pro.
Steve (NJ)
They are gonna accuse John Fox of "running up" the score!!!
Ryan (NOLA)
he has to run up the score to impress the voters
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
4 drops dunn
Joe (SouthPhilly)
Tampa Bays Wr's need some stickum
Jon Gruden (Tampa)
Mamma told me there'd be days like these
Dan (Raleigh)
Over/Under on how long it takes for the Panthers to score, and which RB scores? I'm going with Stewart in 6 plays
joe (dirty jersey)
i was up by 25 in my league before this game. the guy im playing has deangelo williams. 144 yards and a touchdown later, im not very confident about my chances to win.
Ryan (NOLA)
This game proves that the winner of the NFC South will be desperate for homefield in the playoffs
Mike (Lexington, KY)
Tampa Bay has imploded
Brendan (Louisville, KY)
this game is over.
Brandon (Naples, Fl)
Carolina: RUN RIGHT! RUN RIGHT! "lovin this game!"
David (Elberton, GA)
Ill go over... 8 plays with Williams
Dan (Raleigh)
John Fox has taken his foot off the gas... He's now throwing on first down...
Oneil (Indiana)
The Bucs now know what revenge feels like!!!
Jase (Mississippi)
Carolina's Offensive line has killed this defense with their power running.
Jon winston NC
WE play this smash mouth style we win out!!!
Rene (Chicago)
I was up by 44 pts going into tonight, I was going against DWilliams and Steve Smith...I'm only up 7 pts now and I'm stressing out!
Joe (SouthPhilly)
Tampa Bay needs to invest heavily in Stickum
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
Yeah...if you want a clutch play by a reciever...don't throw to Jeremy Stevens... How come the Bucs haven't learned this?
Chris
Dang im glad im not the only one with a big lead in my league to probably get overtaken.
Buzzmaster (11:24 PM)
This could get interesting.
joe (dirty jersey)
wow ike hilliard AGAIN
Buzzmaster (11:25 PM)
What a catch by Bryant. I AM A FANTASY GENIUS!
Jake (Duluth)
WOW best catch of the year!!!
Tom (River North)
What a sick catch!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
fantastic catch
Dan (Raleigh)
And that is why you don't run the Prevent defense. Unbelievable. That was too easy.
Joe (SouthPhilly)
WOW doesn't even begin to cover that it's more like Holy Bleep
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
WOW! What a catch! So that's why he was drafted!
joe (dirty jersey)
UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVEABLE CATCH.
Buzzmaster (11:27 PM)
So we see an absolutely unreal catch, but Tampa cannot execute a basic special teams play.
Rene (Chicago)
Crazy game! Wow!
Daniel
Doh! not the best way t follow up a great play
Mike (Lexington, KY)
blocked hahaha
Darrel (Moscow)
On-side kick coming in .......
Dan (Raleigh)
Last time Carolina blocked an XP was against Tampa in 2003, the year they went to the Super Bowl... Just sayin...
Steve (NJ)
Hoot there it is?? Isn't that from 1993?
Brian (Macungie, PA)
I love how after one loss the Giants are suddenly in trouble and are no longer on anybody's radar. That's just the way they like it!
Buzzmaster (11:31 PM)
Will Carolina ice this?
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Who cares about the Giants? I thought the Bucs were playing Carolina tonight.
Buzzmaster (11:32 PM)
You cannot be serious...nose-dive tackles simply will not get it done. TD CAROLINA!
Dan (Raleigh)
Thats how you ice a game... 300 rushing yards against Tampa... Unreal
Darrel (Moscow)
Game Over.
Mike (Lexington, KY)
thats how you do it on 3rd and 4....just WOW
David (Rock Hill, SC)
I guess we'll see who SHOULD be on the radar in a couple weeks!!! GO PANTHERS!
Mike (Lexington, KY)
that run probably killed alot of fantasy owners
Justin wayne, NE
what happened to the buc's tackling!?
Steve
If Carolina can run like this on the Bucs, they sure can run like this on the Giants
Matt (Charlotte)
And that's how you kick an extra point...
joe (dirty jersey)
I HAD A 24 POINT LEAD TONIGHT!!!! ITS GONE, ALL GONE!!!
Joe (SouthPhilly)
301 rushing yards Carolina learned Tampa can't stop their running attack
Aaron (washington)
Wow...Another touchdown, can this get any worse for Tampa
Buzzmaster (11:35 PM)
It will all be over soon Bucs fans.
Barry (Largo, Fl)
Thats ok, Panthers wont make it past the first round
Buzzmaster (11:37 PM)
They probably will if/when they get that bye.
Adam, Pennsylvania
Barber just got stiffed arm again by a cheerleader I think.
Garry
We are the real deal!!!!!!!!!!
Dan (Raleigh)
Barry... You're right, that BYE will really get after ya
Aaron (Washington)
Never mind no interception
Steiny (NYC)
If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lose, who from the Carolina Panthers is going to be on the Top Performers Chat? My guess would be DeAngelo Williams.
Buzzmaster (11:42 PM)
He's been a regular. We shall see who shows up tomorrow. Alright folks, have a great night. See you all in the morning!
Chris (Dallas)
Well i will really look forward to the biggest shootout of the season next week between denver and carolina. Go Broncos!!!!!
Chantilly (Imperial MO)
looks like the panthers just won the south. getting that awesome first week bye. bye bye TB. good luck on that first game of the playoffs. ha ha
JH Va [via mobile]
Lol @ Panther fans, all aint goin to run on giants like this or anyone else
Michael Mike: (Imperial MO)
damn, look at that. int to just seal the game up.i say they should run for another TD.let those RBs get the recognition they deserve.
Aaron (Washington)
23-38
