It's almost Jeremy Green time!
Jeremy Green (4:05 PM)
Hey, big week with playoff spots on the line and TO throws another QB under the bus.
Matt (Iowa)
Jeremy, is Jerry Jones a brilliant or what? Even after a record year and a new contract extension, Jerry had the mindset to know TO would become a cancer again and covered himself with Roy E Williams. I don't want it to happen, but would there be a market out there for TO? The guys explosive, but secret plays? Come on now
Jeremy Green (4:07 PM)
I do not think there are any secret plays being drawn in the backyard out in Dallas, like run an out at the pinto and I'll hitchya. But yes, he still makes plays so there is still a market. Yes they got Williams, but he has done much. He needs to step up in these next few games.
Farbod (Los Angeles)
Jeremy do the Cardinals have anything to play for? Vegas does not think so because they are only favored by 3 at home even with Tavaris Jackson starting.
Jeremy Green (4:09 PM)
Well you do have something to play for, because with three weeks left in the season they are still fighting for a third or fourth seed, and you do not know your matchups. So yes, I think you want to build positive momentum heading into the playoffs.
Marc (city of brotherly love)
Happy Green Day!!!! Is it just me Jeremy but don't the Eagle look like they are ready to run the table just like the Giants did last year?
Jeremy Green (4:10 PM)
Tehy really do. They are playing great ball and McNabb has been excellent, and I think that is because No. 36 is healkthy and making plays. They have a huge potential matchup with Dallas in Week 17. Get your popcorn ready. It will be a show.
Jack (St. Louis)
Everyone in my office is in the conference room playing some stupid holiday party game, excpet me. So, JG, Steelers or Ravens?
Jeremy Green (4:12 PM)
I really like the Ravens at home. The first meeting was a test for Flacco in OT I think there is a theme with Pittsburgh's loses, they lose when opposing teams get pressure on the QB. I think the Ravens will apply a lot of QB pressure and control the Steelers' run game and I think the Ravens will have better offensive balance in this game.
Ryan (Cleveland)
Isn't it funny how Marty took over a lost Chargers team, went 14-2, and all his assistants from the SD tenure pretty much stink as HC? Wade Phillips, Cam Cameron, Norv Turner...Marty deserves a lot more credit and another job.
Jeremy Green (4:14 PM)
Well Wade had been a head coach before as had Cam in college, as had Turner. They were not very successful the first time around. I think the Browns could get Marty it would be a great move by them. Okay, he does not have a great postseason record, but the Browns need consistency and everywhere Marty has gone, his teams have been consistent playoff contenders.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
JG: Would you consider Brian Westbrook a legitimate candidate for MVP? He might be the best all-around back in the game and I HATE the Eagles.
Jeremy Green (4:15 PM)
I think because of some of the time he has missed, and the numbers aren't there, it will be tough for him to do it. But he is the MVP of the Eagles. They are a different team without him. But with his numbers, he does not merit MVP consideration.
Chet (LA)
Jeremy, who are your offensive MVP and defensive MVP? I got James Harrison for DMVP and Kurt Warner OMVP.
Jeremy Green (4:18 PM)
I think you are a pretty smart guy, Chet. Warner's numbes are outstanding, but its more than that. He led this team to an division title, something that had not been done in many, many decades. I also agree with your pick of Harrison. He forces a lot of fumbles and gets pressure. I think he is the best pass rushing OLB in the game today.
Jon (Mad-town)
How much must the Saints hate the Bears? 3 years in a row Da Bears have ruined the Saints dreams of either continuing in the post-season or even making it.
Jeremy Green (4:20 PM)
It is always a late season game too. Like Billy Miller said :How come we never get these guys at home. But the Saints had a great shot of winning it but could not get the big stops when they needed it on D.
will (san diego)
on todays podcast you mentioned san diego were ranked 32nd in secondary, but after a couple of decent weeks weve actually gone upto 30th, but my question is... why isnt rivers considered in the run for mvp? joint most tds, highest passer rating, most yards per attempt... surely hes worth a shout? thanks
Jeremy Green (4:22 PM)
No. You cannot be an MVP canddiate on an underachieving team with 5 wins. Now you cannot put it all on Rivers, but as a leader and QB, it may not be fair, but it falls on his shoulders. It also applies to Drew Brees. You cannot give the MVP to a guy on a 5-8 team!
Paul (Albany, OR)
As a Rams fan I would love to have Marty as a coach. Hey, getting to the playoffs is a LOT better than a top five draft pick every stinking year.
Jeremy Green (4:24 PM)
I agree. I think the biggest issue with making it work is finacial situation in St. Louis. Tehya re not going to spend a lot of money on a head coach. I think the Browns are more appealing as a football team and they can dish out more money.
Marc (city of brotherly love)
Jeremy what is your opinion of the fan voting for the Pro Bowl. Jevon Kearse, are they serious? Last time I saw him, he was on the back of a milk carton.
Jeremy Green (4:26 PM)
I think the entire Pro Bowl voting is pretty skewed, because you also have the players voting. I once was in a meeting in Cleveland where there was a meeting where it was said, do not vote for Hines Ward he is a dirty player. To me the Pro Bowl does not mean a lot. Fred Taylor did not make one until last year, and it took Willie Parker being hurt for him to make it! Fred Taylor has over 10,000 career rushing yards.
chauncey (teaneck)
Will the Bears make the playoffs?
Jeremy Green (4:28 PM)
They play GB at home, and at Houston. I think there is only one team coming out of the North, the division winner, and I think the Vikes will figure it out based on their run defense and Adrian Petterson. I think they have a tough test coming up, but I think they will find a way to win the division.
Mike (FL)
Madden Curse? Has Favre ended this?
Jeremy Green (4:30 PM)
He has three weeks to stay healthy, so that would end that part of the curse. And he has been playing some pretty good ball. So yes, maybe he will end it, however, he is on the box in a Packers uni. Always something fishy with Madden.
Hines Ward
You mean to say they don't like me in Cleveland?
Jeremy Green (4:31 PM)
Like Ray Lewis says, better keep your head on a swivel lol.
Otto (CA)
What were the Browns thinking getting rid of Antonio Bryant? He's a solid vet.
Jeremy Green (4:33 PM)
Antonio Bryant was in dallas, Clevalnd, SF and was a jightmare off the field. He did not get along with people. He was sent to Canada and I think that helped him. He finally lived up to his potential. But I do not disagree with the teams that cut him, because for many years he did not live up to potential.
Marc (city of brotherly love)
Jeremy between Vince Young and Matt Leinart. Who has a better chance of regaining their starting job and who would benefit more by switvhing to another team? Thanks.
Jeremy Green (4:35 PM)
Wow, good one. I would say right now V. Young would have a better chance to win back the job, based on how Warner is playing in that system and I think he can play a few more years and Leinart can benefit from a change, since he is not tied to the current head coach since he was drafted by Dennis Green.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
You know how Zygi Wilf improved the Vikes' D? Yep, he went to Jared.
Jeremy Green (4:37 PM)
I don't get it...jk.
Jeremy Green (4:38 PM)
By the way Jared sponsored my podcast for a few years and never sent me one gift.
ML (NC)
The top 5 QB's in the NFL right now are....
Jeremy Green (4:40 PM)
This is another tough one. But based on how thery are playing I will go: Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Jay Cutler, Kurt Warner and Big Ben. But McNabb the last few weeks may need to get in there. I am picking guys who consistently win for the most part.
Cosmo (Anytown, USA)
Is Donovan McNabb a Hall of Famer?
Jeremy Green (4:40 PM)
I say yes, if he can get himself a ring, whether that is in Philly or somewhere else. The numbers will be there, but he needs to solidify them with a title.
Anthony (NYC)
JG will the Browns be willing to trade Anderson for a third round pick or should they trade him for preferably a defensive player they need?
Jeremy Green (4:42 PM)
You can't get a third for Anderson right now, I do not think. If you could get a pass rushing OLB, that would be great. I think you can get a 5 at best for him in the draft.
Jeremy Green (4:42 PM)
Great games this weekend. I like the Giants on the road, Baltimore at home, the Falcons at home, and the upset special Texans over Titans.
