Paul Kuharsky (2:57 PM)
Hi everyone. Greetings from Jacksonville. Big day -- first chat from outside of Nashville. I'll dive in...
Scott(Indy)
How is it Tenn has won the Division, if they lose 2 games and the Colts win 2 they are tied, they will have matching Div records and the Colts will have a better conference record is that not the order in which they decide a tie breaker with common opponents being third as a way to decide
Paul Kuharsky (2:58 PM)
1) head to head, 2) division record, 3) common opponents. The Titans clinched common opponents with the win over Cleveland at the start of the month. This is absolutely my favorite topic to write about...
Daniel Davenport (Boston, MA)
I've heard that Tenn. might not go all out this weekend. Do you think that's true? Might these two teams hide some of "what they do" just because they might, might see each other for all the marbles in the playoffs?
Paul Kuharsky (3:00 PM)
Where did you hear that? It would make absolutely no sense. Home field advantage for the AFC Championship Game, if the winner can get there, is on the line. They aren't worrying about a matchup that might not happen, they both need to win and will do anything and everything to do so...
Josh (Charlotte)
Frequent chatter here - I was wondering if you have any inside info on whether Sanders and/or Addai will play tonight? We need Sanders more than Addai, but please let us know! Go Colts - 31 to 20
Paul Kuharsky (3:00 PM)
No insight yet. They traveled. Hopefully I will watch them warm up over at the stadium...
Jimmy (College Grove)
Are the Titans any better equipped to stop the run with Albert out this year than they were last year?
Paul Kuharsky (3:01 PM)
Yes. But they would have been even more so if Kevin Vickerson didn't go and get suspended...
Dave (Canada)
Hi Paul, I enjoyed your post about the Jags getting a top 10 pick next year. It will probably mean that they'll get the top player at a certain position. Which position are they most in need of a top 10 pick at?
Paul Kuharsky (3:03 PM)
I'd say DT. Who knows if Henderson will get back to what he was? Even if he does, pair him with someone else who can be big-time and you can get back to dominating up the middle. They've lost that identity. Obviously they need another corner, probably a LT and always a WR...
Steiny (NYC)
Why couldn't the Tennessee Titans run the ball on Sunday?
Paul Kuharsky (3:03 PM)
Houston played very well up front and the Titans not so well...
Scott (CT)
Paul, I disagree with you about your assertion that the Titans should have kicked on 4th and 3. Fisher said that it was out of his range, the wind was blowing something like 26 miles per hour, it was a wet field, and the chance he would have made that kick would have been very low. They were inches, on the other hand, from completing a long pass to probably win the game.
Paul Kuharsky (3:05 PM)
It was not raining any longer. So you can have wet or wind, you can't have both. Because if there were these gale force winds, they would have dried out the surface, no? I think Bironas from 50 in wind is a lot higher percentage play than what they ran and I'm pretty set in that opinion. I think it's pretty stubborn, when your QB has been off target all day, to presume he will be on target for that play...
chauncey (teaneck)
Will the Texans be contenders next year?
Paul Kuharsky (3:06 PM)
It depends on their offseason moves. I think they probably win these two and finish 9-7. But I sure hope that doesn't get them thinking they are close. They need to upgrade at a lot of spots still...
Tim Graham: (ESPN):
Kuharsky, I called you out publicly for being my nemisis in my chat on Friday (read the minutes) and I consistently host a better chat than you. Your thoughts?
Paul Kuharsky (3:07 PM)
You are our funniest blogger, I think. And it's wonderful that you are so efficient you have the time to stop by!
Jon Kitna (Detroit, Michigan)
Will my team win a game this year/ The Detroit Lions?
Paul Kuharsky (3:07 PM)
No...
Steiny (NYC)
Do you think Steve Slaton should have made the Pro Bowl?
Paul Kuharsky (3:09 PM)
Yeah, I wrote a blog entry apology to him for my original stance, which I moved off of. He should go over Ronnie Brown. Blame it, and everything else you can think of including global warming, on the Wildcat...
Kerry Collins Nashville
Did i play poorly sunday in houston because Bud Adams said VY was going to be the starter next year? He parsed his words but everyone knew that the 4th down call was Jeff trying to show Bud who's Boss
Paul Kuharsky (3:11 PM)
Really? You think a guy that's endured all Collins has and made it out the other side got all flustered by a comment from an owner who couldn't possibly have said anything else? And Bud said "when the coaches deem him ready" not "absolutely next year." They may never deem him ready and Fisher will have to convince Bud to eat the pick/ contract / dream... Seriously? Fisher went for it on fourth down instead of winning the game with a kick to send a message to Bud? Um.... no. Fisher can pick up the phone and speak with Bud anytime he likes....
Scott (CT)
What do you think the Titans record would have been if Young never got hurt? I say 12-2. They win the Houston game and lose the Chicago game.
Paul Kuharsky (3:13 PM)
I say you're nuts. For starters they lose the opener. Probably also Baltimore, Green Bay, Chicago and Jets... What has he done to earn such love from you? I mean besides the Rose Bowl...
Mark (Carlstadt, NJ)
Hey Paul, do the Titans have any chance of winning Sunday if they cannot establish the run? Kerry has not looked good in recent weeks. Plus, the defense is starting to wear down..
Paul Kuharsky (3:14 PM)
There is always a chance -- scores or great field position from defense or special teams. They may need one or two even if they can run semi-effectively...
Jeff (Houston)
Any chance the Texans make a run at Haynesworth? Okoye has struggled and could use someone who absorbs double teams.
Paul Kuharsky (3:16 PM)
That is a very interesting idea. If he gets to market, they should. I think the Titans will try to keep him. But my gut says this: He will be eight weeks away from unrestricted free agency and he's be crazy not to wait and see. Someone will make him the highest paid defender in football. He'll get that offer, call the Titans hoping they'll match, and they'll be fiscally conservative and say good luck. Then they will call Jim Washburn and tell him his starting DTs are Tony Brown and Jason Jones and the Titans D will take a major dip... I could be wrong, of course...
KC Nashville
Sometimes I get the idea the only person who wants Young as QB is Bud... Not really JF certainly not Norm Chow why couldnt Bud have said anything else? He picked McNair and when he didnt want him anymore he locked him out of the building.
Paul Kuharsky (3:17 PM)
No, also Scott in CT and a lot of fans for some reason who can't leave a good thing alone...
Jesse in Nashville
PK, Richard Collier will be on the sidelines for the game this Sunday.. i'd love to read something if you can get a minute or two with him for a follow-up on his story.
Paul Kuharsky (3:18 PM)
They hope he will be there. He might not be there if he's not feeling up to it. You must consider the source... I hope he can make it and if he's there I certainly will try to say hello...
chris, Tomball Texas
I have Manning, Wayne, Clark, Gonzales , Rhodes and Northcut playing tonight...It worked out extremely well last week but I am about nervious about that lineup again...Any thoughts?
Paul Kuharsky (3:18 PM)
I bet you have a better alternative to DN...
Albert Haynesworth
Mike Rienfelt will come to me with 5 years 50M 35MM guarenteed I will sign it even if Denver offers me more because I have lived the last decade of my life in Tennessee I am not going anywhere
Paul Kuharsky (3:19 PM)
The Titans dishing out $35 million in one check would be a major move and quite a change in fiscal philosophy. I think they should pay him. You have to pay someone eventually...
Dave (Canada)
Paul, I'm asking you this question not because you're the AFC south blogger but because you're from Jersey. With the AFL cancelling next season what will Jon Bon Jovi do for a living?
Paul Kuharsky (3:20 PM)
The AFL is incredibly boring. If you've watched one quarter, you've seen everything that can happen... I hear Bruce needs a shoeshine guy?
Brian (Indy)
This blog is always a Titans love fest.... please please start answering GOOD questions about other teams instead of BAD questions about the Titans...its week 16 in the NFL and we are talking about Vince Young?!?!...probably a good thing though since I guess there is no other worthy stories (sarcasm) i.e. Titans-Steelers...10th consecutive playoff appearance for Tony...
Paul Kuharsky (3:21 PM)
Wow, you really corrected the issue by asking an excellent question for me to answer there. See how that worked out?
Josh Nashville
Paul if the Steelers do win do they lock up homefield or do we still have a chance if we beat Indy and they lose a week later...
Paul Kuharsky (3:22 PM)
Yeah, Steelers would have to lose to the Browns while Titans beat Colts...
Brian(Indy)
If Indy wins tonight..thats number 10 in a row (playoff appearances) for Tony. How impressed are you?...second...does only winning one superbowl diminish these results?
Paul Kuharsky (3:22 PM)
Incredibly impressed. That sort of consistency is unheard of. Diminishes a little, but only a handful of franchises wouldn't trade places...
TJ (Columbus, OH)
Paul- First off, I'm glad we're facebook friends, thats the only reason i stumbled across today's chat. Secondly, while Haynesworth is the best lineman we have and easily changes the game against the Steelers, I think that the Titans will be more than able to supress the run game and get after Big Ben, don't you?
Paul Kuharsky (3:24 PM)
I'm not so sure. I think they will rush OK, but no where near as well as if they were at full strength. Come one, come all on facebook -- great marketing tool...
David (Houston, TX)
True of False....Atlanta Braves of MLB = Indy Colts of NFL...playoffs every year, only 1 title, but how long is Indy's window open as Atlanta's seems to have past?
Paul Kuharsky (3:25 PM)
As long as Manning is around...
David (Houston, TX)
Biggest need for the Texans to fill inthe draft is....
Paul Kuharsky (3:25 PM)
I'd love to see them with a top flight safety...
Andrew (Gilbert, AZ)
Hey, what sort of chance are we giving my Cardinals in the playoffs? One win? Two? Super Bowl Champs?
Paul Kuharsky (3:26 PM)
One tops. Won't win on the road. Wish the forecast was better...
Rob (Fort Myers)
PK, what are the chances that Haynesworth and/or KVB will actually not be able to return for the playoffs?
Paul Kuharsky (3:26 PM)
Very good. KVB a little shakier, I think...
Steve Jordan (Charlotte nc)
Paul I am a big Carolina panthers fan please tell me that my panthers will beat the Giants on sunday night
Wes (Las Vegas)
Will the Colts finally sign an off-season free-agent? A WR perhaps?
Paul Kuharsky (3:27 PM)
I wouldn't get your hopes up. But I could see them drafting a WR in the first two rounds...
JL (Hoboken, NJ)
Is home field going to be such a great thing? There's a good chance at least one of the wild card teams wins in the opening round and I would much rather face the Broncos or AFC East champ than Indy or Baltimore
Paul Kuharsky (3:28 PM)
You are right. Last three champs didn't have byes, I believe, and all went on the road. Still, would you rather have it or not? Of course you'd rather have it...
Joey (Rochester, New York)
This is the game I've been waiting for all year! This game will be won in the trenches. That being said. The Titans D-Line vs. the Steelers O-line will be the key to victory. Who wins this battle & the game?
Paul Kuharsky (3:29 PM)
I think the Titans win it, but not by a huge margin. If you check the blogger debate on the game posted on AFC South and NFL North pages, you'll see my "pick..."
Steve (Indy)
Why would the Colts draft a WR in the 1st 2 rounds. They already have former 1sts Wayne, Gonzalez, and Dallas Clark.
Paul Kuharsky (3:30 PM)
They need explosive options all over the field and if Harrison is done, three isn't enough...
Dave (Carmel, IN)
Has there ever been a playoff team with a rush offense as BAD as the colts.. and yet everyone still probably doesn't want to play them come playoff time?
Paul Kuharsky (3:30 PM)
Again, it boils down to Manning. I never thought we'd call a Manning-Dungy team gritty, but this one is...
Leah (tulsa-formerly if Indy)
Paul, You posted an article earlier about Marvin possibly not being with the colts next season. Are you thinking going somewhere else or retiring? I say he'll retire a colt and that's the only way he won't be with the team. And also, as a lifelong colts fan, not seeing marvin around will be a sad day.
Paul Kuharsky (3:31 PM)
Impossible to know, I've never spoken to Harrison in my life I don't think. If they let him go -- well, most guys don't give up so easily. But a lot depends on how his knees would check out...
Scott (CT)
Paul, interesting that you'd pick the Titans because all year you've been saying the Titans would lose this game.
Paul Kuharsky (3:33 PM)
A) I haven't picked the Titans, I haven't picked and I won't... B) All year what I've said about this game is that the Titans match up great because of their ability to rush with four and Pitt's O-line woes. But the injury absences diminish that...
Robby (Willington. Alabama)
If the MVP vote were up to you, who gets it?
Paul Kuharsky (3:33 PM)
I'd still be undecided. If Atlanta gets in and he plays well in two more games, I'd lean Michael Turner...
Tony Dungy (Indy)
I don't want a playoff bye!
Paul Kuharsky (3:34 PM)
Well then you're in luck!
Tyler (Murfreesboro)
I'd like to thank you for keeping me from work... and I am officially glad my computer faces away from the door now so I can fake it. True or False: The Texans would be a playoff team without Hurrican Ike. I vote false, they still need a better defensive backfield and Slaton with a year of experience, but that is just me.
Paul Kuharsky (3:34 PM)
FALSE: If Ike lost them a game early, it won them a game late. If the roof is closed, Bironas hits from 50 and the Titans win...
Scott (CT)
Paul Kuharsky: (3:29 PM ET ) I think the Titans win it, but not by a huge margin. If you check the blogger debate on the game posted on AFC South and NFL North pages, you'll see my "pick..." Is that not picking a game?
Paul Kuharsky (3:35 PM)
Win the battle of D-line vs. O-line, I thought that was the question I was answering...
Steve Jordan (Dallas Texas)
Paul how would a Panthers vs Titans look like would it not be a great SB?
Paul Kuharsky (3:36 PM)
I'm just not that excited about Carolina yet...
Richard (hawaii)
which running back do you think should have made the probowl based on impact and importance to a good team Running back 1: 1229 yards (4th overall), 5.5 ypc(1st), 16 total tds(1st) and team record 11-3 Running back 2:1337 yards(3rd), 4.6 ypc(12th), 7 total tds (25th) and team record 7-7
Paul Kuharsky (3:37 PM)
I would never just look at numbers without context and pick like that. A guy with lesser numbers could be much more important to a better team that's going places...
Scott (CT)
He asked who you thought would win the battle of the trenches and the game and you said the Titans but not by a huge margin, which made it seem like you were saying the Titans would win by a close score.
Paul Kuharsky (3:38 PM)
Well I apologize for the confusion. I'm not picking a winner. We bloggers are not asked to pick -- a ton of smart people at ESPN pick every game. I find it liberating -- I don't root for the "right" result and I don't have to answer to players or coaches who may not care for it. It allows me to do my job better...
Mad Mike (Houston)
Paul: Usually rookie RB's do not make as much of an impact because of having issues learning their blocking assignments to be sure their QB's don"t get killed. Unique to have three; Slaton, Johnson and Forte make such an impact. Also, don't like th Wildcat being the reason Brown is in. No one considered that Slaton was projected to be no more than a third down back and he seems to have proved he is MUCH more than that. Wow, I find Brown not only rated behind Slaton, but three others, Lynch, LT and J. Lewis....thanks....MM
Paul Kuharsky (3:40 PM)
You're right about running backs in third down or clear passing situations -- I wrote a column a few weeks back about CJ and Slaton and that. But rookie RBs on early downs have been impact players forever...
Aaron (Nashville)
I've been a big Kerry Collins supporter, but does he have any realistic shot to make much bigger money outside of Nashville? I imagine he could definitely win the starting job again next year, but his play hasn't necessarily but the NFL on alert for a big FA splash
Paul Kuharsky (3:41 PM)
No, and a 35 year old QB isn't going to be super attractive. I don't expect anyone would sign him as their unquestioned starter. He probably can't find a better situation...
Eric (Sioux City)
Why isn't Keith Bullock more appreciated?
Paul Kuharsky (3:41 PM)
He's appreciated. He doesn't get Pro Bowl votes because 3-4 backers get all the sacks. It's not right, just the way it is. He's come to terms with it...
Wes (Las Vegas)
Who starts at RB for the Colts next year, Addai or Rhodes? Rhodes seems a better back this year...
Paul Kuharsky (3:42 PM)
I think they'd like to give it a crack with a healthy line together through camp and Addai-Rhodes 1-2....
Peyton Manning (At this moment in Jacksonville)
Hey Paul, some blogger was talking about how we can't beat the steelers. we've been winning the same amount of close games. we got the best qb in the league (Sorry Brady, you know its true), one the best wr tandems in the league, a tight end that should be going to the pro bowl, and offensive line that only gave up 2 sacks last time, two amazing defensive ends, and the best safety in the league (Tony is just resting him for January. If this was a playoff there wouldn't be a Q next to his name). Add the best clutch kicker in history and I wonder how the steelers could beat us. what we lack in the run game they lack in everything else. we can stop their run game with bob and we've already proven we can intercept ben. what else does a team need to do to beat the steelers
Paul Kuharsky (3:43 PM)
Beating them twice -- beating a good team twice, especially if you are on the road twice -- is very difficult...
Steven, Denver
So your saying that with 2 minutes to go the titans where a lock to stop the texans even though the texans got into field goal range anyways by running the ball?
Paul Kuharsky (3:44 PM)
I'm saying you can't presume Slaton gets the 34-yard run if the Titans had hit the FG...
Brent (Indianapolis)
Paul, Have the ESPN bloggers looked a little more closely at what 3rd place teams do the following year, I.E. Titans, and Jets this year- compared to the Packers 2 years ago. It seems teams who play 3rd place schedules have a great year, then drop the next once they play first place schedules.
Paul Kuharsky (3:44 PM)
I will keep an eye on that...
Adam (Louisville, KY)
Hey Paul, love the "What I think they're thinking" section of the blog. So if the Colts and Titans both lose this week, what do you think the Titans are thinking about in Indy? Knock of the opponent or rest with a first round bye?
Paul Kuharsky (3:48 PM)
I think they would play to win a lot more than the Colts will if they've sealed up No. 5... Momentum is important, they'll have a week to rest with the bye. And there is this: Say he sits David Thornton from the start and plays Tully outside and Fowler in the middle. Then say one of the three starters gets hurt. You're probably not going to play Allred early on. So you'd be asking Thornton to do something unusual, come off the bench. I think JF thinks better to play the starters, try to win and pull some guys late. One or two injured guys might be scratched...
MJ (Boston)
Paul - I love ya man, but how are the Cowboys ranked 12? since Newman and Romo came back they're 4-1 should be 5-0 and they look as good as any team in the league. 12th??? Come on...
Paul Kuharsky (3:49 PM)
Only a matter of time before they implode. How can you root for a team that signed up for Pacman Jones? Especially if you're from Boston?
Scott (CT)
There's really no such thing as a "specific place" schedule anymore. All teams in a division play the same teams with the exception of 2.
Paul Kuharsky (3:50 PM)
And those two are in fact specific to where you finished in the standings. First place plays two other first place teams, etc. Not as big as it used to be, but still a factor...
Eric (Sioux City)
I know it airs on another network, but do you ever watch NFL replay.
Paul Kuharsky (3:51 PM)
More often I watch the 10 minute packages of the most important plays from games. NFL Network doesn't do a good job, at least on Comcast in Nashville, of telling you what games will be replayed...
Tom (Chicagoland)
Hey, Paul, there's a perfectly fine Division II out there (if you're into even more mediocre college football)-FCS is what the NCAA calls what everybody else still calls I-AA.
Paul Kuharsky (3:52 PM)
You are correct. I will have to go fix that as soon as we are done...
JT: Houston
If you can presumes Slaton's run, then why presume Bironas making the field goal. Also, the Texans did pass for 285 yds ya know?
Paul Kuharsky (3:52 PM)
Hey, Houston kicked their butts. I am allowed to think Bironas would have made the field goal. But the better team won that game...
Jay Cutler
Do we win the west this weekend? It would be great to punk Philip Rivers twice in one week. Winning the west and making it to the Pro Bowl over him. Your thoughts?
Paul Kuharsky (3:53 PM)
If you win it, you are one and done in the playoffs. That is not a playoff caliber defense... That was persistence paying off for you...
Jay (NY)
So your saying Houston is a better team than Tennessee?
Paul Kuharsky (3:54 PM)
On Sunday it was, yes... On complete body of work and talent, no...
Alex Gibbs
How about the work I've done with the Texans ragtag line.
Paul Kuharsky (3:54 PM)
Very nice...
Brent (Indy)
This game weekend is a bigger game for the Colts. A win tonight means a bye next week for Bob Sanders, Joe Adadi, and Marvin. What happens to DelRio after the season?
Paul Kuharsky (3:55 PM)
His contract means he's safe for at least one more season. Look for coordinators and assistants to get tossed under the bus...
Jeff Fisher (Nashville)
Do you think it is distracting having my son play in the Division 1 Championship game this week in Chattanooga? Could my mind have been elsewhere because of my Virginia trip last week? And are the assistant coaches jealous because Cecil and McGinnis are my bff's and went with me?
Paul Kuharsky (3:56 PM)
I think if you're 12-2 or 2-12 Friday nights are yours to do what you like. And the rest of the staff can join us if they like...
Matt (TN)
Considering the Titans will probably lose Haynesworth this year and KVB the next, should the use their 1st two picks on the best available DT and DE?
Paul Kuharsky (3:58 PM)
If they lose Albert, they probably need to go DT first three. I wouldn't presume they lose KVB. I am sure they hope to be in best player available scenarios...
Brent (Indy)
Any rumors on Brian Billick coming back? I would hate to see him in the South, unless he is replacing Dungy.
Paul Kuharsky (3:58 PM)
Haven't heard his name at all. And there are no jobs opening in the South. If Dungy calls it, Caldwell is his replacement...
A.J.(Indy)
If you were the Colts, who would you rather play in the first round of the playoffs? Denver or whoever wins the East?
Paul Kuharsky (3:58 PM)
Denver, for sure...
Anthony, Nashville
Do you think Frank Wycheck's performance against the Steelers in the 2003 Divisional Playoffs ranks up there or slightly behind Kellen Winslow's 1981 performance against the Dolphins?
Paul Kuharsky (3:59 PM)
Slightly behind. Friend him on facebook.Full assault...
T-Rac (Nashville)
Any chance Justin McCareins is dropped from the starting line-up if he keeps playing like he's been playing? I cant imagine any sort of blocking prowess he brings to the table outweighs his turnovers and inability to catch the ball.
Paul Kuharsky (4:01 PM)
They are just so stubborn on making changes, I don't expect one. Part of it is that they don't think if Jones' play time goes up his production level will stay the same... Why can't McCareins make more effort? I am not talking about the last play, that was not going to be caught. But generally he seems anxious to give up on a ball and start back to the huddle or sideline. Jump. You might get a finger tip on it, pop it in the air, see something crazy and productive happen...
Erik (Salt Lake City, UT)
Do you think Maurice Jones-Drews performance tonight might affect his signing bonus for the new contract he will get next year?
Paul Kuharsky (4:02 PM)
One game does not a contract make or break...
Adam (Louisville, KY)
Asked Keith Kidd this question earlier, why is everyone enamored with the Steelers? Big Ben holds onto the ball far too long, and reads pocket pressure poorly, doesn't that spell disastrous in the playoffs? Or can their defense (who my colts posted 24 on) be enough to make it to the big game?
Paul Kuharsky (4:03 PM)
The defense is excellent and Big Ben is pretty clutch...
Adam (Central PA)
The Steelers offense has been pathetic until the last drive every single game. Do you think Leftwich would give a better spark to the Steelers right now, or is it perfectly fine that Ben holds onto the ball for at least 5 seconds every play?
Paul Kuharsky (4:03 PM)
I cannot believe the percentage of people who want good quarterbacks benched, who even ask the question... Of course Leftwich IS NOT better...
Steve (Memphis,TN)
Where has Lavelle Hawkins been? Has he taken a step back?
Paul Kuharsky (4:04 PM)
Hasn't been winning them over, obviously. And Fisher doesn't play guys who don't know everything. Why they can't put him in for limited packages ahead of McCareins, I don't understand...
MJ (Boston)
Paul - who's the NFL MVP? and Defensive Player of the Year?
Paul Kuharsky (4:07 PM)
I want two more weeks on MVP. I'm in the minority, but right now I like Michael Turner... Defensive PoY? Too bad Albert couldn't finish. I'd lean Harrison right now, so many strips. Look forward to seeing him for myself Sunday...
Justin McCariens
In my defense the last time i played in Nashville i had a healthy & product Derek Mason an uber cluth Drew Bennett a fast & precocious Tyrone Calico and i was just a guy but a productive guy. Lets face it im not good being "the one"
Paul Kuharsky (4:08 PM)
Gage is "the one," technically. Calico was precocious? I missed that...
Erik (Salt Lake City, UT)
I agree with you completely! I would like to follow it up with another question though. This is only his second start but if he does as good (stat wise)as he did his first start (vs Patriots) do you think the Jags might consider changing to a 1 back system?
Paul Kuharsky (4:08 PM)
No. One back systems are on the way out. You get better long term results splitting things up...
Tyler (Murfreesboro)
Dude, Scott needs to back off Facebook... What is the problem with the Titans run-blocking? Is it just the fact that 8 and 9 are stacking the box, or are these pass-protecting linemen just not good run-blockers? I know Benji was pretty good at run-blocking, and Jake Scott was a pass-blocker for Peyton... did we lose something there for our running game?
Paul Kuharsky (4:09 PM)
You have the fifth-ranked rush offense in the NFL. It can't dominant every week. Who does?
MJO: Miami
What WR in the 2009 Draft that they have a shot at is the best fit for Colts? Percy Harvin?
Paul Kuharsky (4:10 PM)
Apologies, but I am not at all draft-talk ready....
Gregg Williams (polishing up resume)
Who was driving that bus that ran over me?
Paul Kuharsky (4:11 PM)
I suspect you want out as much as Jack wants you out. But there is going to be a glut of DCs out there, many who were just head coaches...
Leah (tulsa-formerly if Indy)
I know tons of people who aren't in high school or college who use facebook. (I am one of them, as are the majority of my friends)
Paul Kuharsky (4:12 PM)
Yeah, tell him...
MJO: Miami
Can Antonio Johnson be a legit starter at DT for the Colts?
Paul Kuharsky (4:12 PM)
Maybe. Probably better as a third guy. They will address DT above all else, I'd expect. Pitcock and Johnson losses killed them....
Jake (Indy)
Don't you think it would benefit the Colts to bring in a guy with a little more experience? Gonzalez still hasn't proved to be all that great yet
Paul Kuharsky (4:13 PM)
Name the last name free agent they brought in?
Mike (Burbank, CA)
Did I hear Albert Haynesworth in a Broncos uniform?! That's music to my ears! But seriously, Paul, what are the chances of that happening and how do you improve this Denver defense in the offseason? What do you make of Marcus Thomas? Can he be a game-changing DT?
Paul Kuharsky (4:14 PM)
I think he's prefer to stay in the Southeast. But if the offer is right....
Titans Misses Nashville
Tyrone Calico Yancy Thigpen Carl Pickens David Givens the titans cant get a TO to Dallas or Randy Moss in New England to save their lives.Yes I Tyrone Calico scored 4 TD's and averaged 17.8 YPC i was precious.

Also, they have locker room peace and are, at worst, the No. 2 seed in the AFC. It ain't all bad the way they are doing it...

McFarland, Booger and resulted in a Superbowl
Paul Kuharsky (4:15 PM)
Point taken. Offseason, though?
Erik (Salt Lake City, UT)
I cant help but compare the Titans offense to the Jaguars offense a year ago. Great running game but not so great receiving core. With people now stacking the box I think they will experience the same fate we did. The field will keep shrinking and the running game is going to suffocate. Who do you see fixing this problem on offense first, Jags or Titans?
Paul Kuharsky (4:16 PM)
Considering the Titans are 12-2 and the Jags are 5-9, I'd say the Jags have the problem on a lot grander scale and a lot more to fix...
Adam "Mr Clutch" Vinatieri
It was me.
Paul Kuharsky (4:17 PM)
There you go. A handful of snaps a game guy...
MJO: Miami
Is Kelvin Hayden going to get a similar deal to the one Corey Webster just got? 5 years / $40 MIllion.
Paul Kuharsky (4:17 PM)
That's a lot of money. I don't know if the Colts will value him like that...
Brent(Indy)
The colts do not need WR help, they need a big left tackle so the OFF can run the stretch play, a MLB to take the pressure off Sanders, and a cover corner to in case Marlin Jackson does not come back. Adults who have Face Books and like bloggers...
Paul Kuharsky (4:18 PM)
They also need another WR if Marvin is gone. Probably even if he's not. Did you foresee them taking Gonzalez when they did?
Paul Kuharsky (4:20 PM)
Well folks, I've enjoyed it. If you're online tonight during the game please look for updates on the AFC South blog and a big beefy recap in the morning... Thanks for coming. We're off the next couple weeks for the holidays. If you hit the mailbag, I'll try to do a mailbag entry or two... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
