Tim Graham (3:01 PM)
Good afternoon, everybody. I'm settled in at the Dolphins facility and ready to get cracking.
Kurt, Buffalo
Should the Jets consider changing QBs for next season? Isn't Favre holding them back.
Tim Graham (3:02 PM)
They can do better than Favre, but not with anybody on their roster right now. The Jets want Favre to come back for 2009.
Johnny(Queens)
Tim, John Clayton believes that Dick Jauron most likely will be fired at the end of the season? Do you think John is right?
Tim Graham (3:03 PM)
I don't know what to think. The Bills have botched this situation so badly you can't even look at it logically anymore.
Steiny (NYC)
Brett Favre is going to his 10th Pro Bowl. Do you think he got voted in because of the way he is playing, or because of his name? I can think of three other QB's in the AFC that should be in over Favre. For example Matt Cassel, Chad Pennington, and Philip Rivers all have better numbers.
Tim Graham (3:04 PM)
Favre should not be in the Pro Bowl this year. He was selected on reputation alone. Pennington should be there. If he deserves consideration for MVP (and I believe he does) then he deserves to be in the Pro Bowl.
David Connecticut
Do you think the pats will bring back brady, or keep cassel
Tim Graham (3:04 PM)
Yes ... and yes.
joe (nyc)
If Clady and Kuper don't play for the Broncos, do the bills win?
Tim Graham (3:05 PM)
The Broncos are going to do what they do on offense no matter what. The Bills' pass rush is non-existent regardless of who's blocking. If the Bills win, it will come down to Trent Edwards against a weak pass defense.
Matt (Boston)
Hi Tim, thanks for the great blog! Could Tim Tebow run a Wildcat formation in the NFL?
Tim Graham (3:05 PM)
Thanks, Matt. It sure would be fun to watch a team try it. I think he could be successful at it, especially as a change-of-pace quarterback off the sideline maybe more than an every-down quarterback. Although I think he could handle the latter.
Dan (North Wales, PA)
Brett Favre continues to get credit for being the best ever when he's mediocre at best. Typical NFL.
Tim Graham (3:07 PM)
Please. He's not mediocre by any definition. He's having a bad year, but he's a first-ballot Hall of Famer and deservedly so.
josh syracuse
if not favre next year , would cassel fit , if not who else is going to be on the market?
Tim Graham (3:07 PM)
What about J.P. Losman? He has already won a crucial game for you.
MJ (Boston)
Tim - your blogs are the best, are you in Boston? hope your not traveling today. Is Anquan playing Sunday? I think the Cards Offense will be a non factor this week.
Tim Graham (3:08 PM)
We haven't heard official word on Boldin, but the Patriots have had success against passing teams. They were torched by San Diego but did well against Denver and Indy.
JP Losman
Ouch Tim, that hurt bad.
Tim Graham (3:08 PM)
Put some ice on it.
Ryan (Pennsylvania)
Is it possible that the Miami @ Jets game will be the night game next week?
Tim Graham (3:09 PM)
I would say it's probable, but the Cowboys-Eagles and Colts-Titans games are viable options.
David Connecticut
when covering the pats are you in boston or providence, the players are in providence i know that, if so best place to eat in providence??/
Tim Graham (3:10 PM)
If I'm just in for the game I prefer Providence. I'm pretty much a home-body on the road, but there's a Ted's Steaks a couple exits from the airport. Good eatin
Mr. C., Boca Raton, Florida
Tim, great work on the blog all season. Question: If the Dolphins win the division and the Jets are home for the playoffs, what will be the fallout in Jet-land? Do Mangini and Tenenbaum lose their jobs? Does Favre return next season, and if so does he return with the Jets?
Tim Graham (3:10 PM)
Thanks for the kind words, Mr. C. I felt like the Fonz writing that ... The fallout could be heavy duty if the Jets don't make the playoffs. I'm not sure that would be wise because GM Mike Tannenbaum made some great moves to improve the roster aside from drafting Vernon Gholston. Mangini has done a great job managing so many new players and assimilating them. As for Favre, he looks like he's nearing the end of the line. We'll see if he agrees.
Josh Syracuse
What does benching Gholston do to his psyche.... is he done in NY?
Tim Graham (3:11 PM)
Gosh, I hope not. If getting benched ruins his head, then he will go down as one of the biggest busts of all-time.
Tony (Miami)
What is the biggest position need for the Dolphins in the offseason?
Tim Graham (3:11 PM)
Center, wide receiver or safety. Probably in that order.
Davone Bess
8 more catches is all i need to surpass Ginn... He was only picked 243 picks ahead of me! is there any undrafted player this year having a better year?
Tim Graham (3:12 PM)
Not off the top of my head. You've surpassed Ginn in every other category already.
Dolpins4theWin (sunny south Florida)
Bill Belichick took the Patriots from 5-11 to 11-5 and won the superbowl in 2001 after the starting QB was replaced by the 199th picked back up. How is this his best coaching ever? The Pats were 16-0 reg season last year...
Tim Graham (3:12 PM)
Tom Brady at least had started a game since his senior year of high school. Belichick's running back during a crucial stretch in the season was an undrafted rookie. His best defensive player is a rookie. He has lost two defensive captains to injury. He lost his best defensive back to free agency. The Patriots had a more difficult schedule than the Dolphins (uncommon opponents Steelers, Colts) and played four games in the Pacific Time Zone compared to the Dolphins' zero.
Steve, Fort Myers
your all rookie team?
Tim Graham (3:13 PM)
Do you think everybody wants to sit through me listing 22 guys off the top of my head?
MJ (Boston)
Whats with Gholston, are they asking too much from him...he's a man child...he should be tearin it up.
Tim Graham (3:14 PM)
All he knew how to do at Ohio State was rush the quarterback. Now he has to cover running backs and tight ends and anticipate more than what the college tackle in front of him will do. The NFL is a big leap for him, and that's why most teams had him rated at the end of the first round, or early second round.
David Connecticut
Back in august before the season, did you have gholston or mayo
Tim Graham (3:16 PM)
For defensive rookie of the year? I don't recall, but I didn't have Gholston. I remember picking Matt Forte for offensive rookie. I can go check, though ...
Tim Graham (3:17 PM)
Glenn Dorsey is who I picked for defensive rookie of the year.
Jeff, Maine
Going to the Winter Classic?
Tim Graham (3:17 PM)
I will not. When I left the Buffalo News last year, that was what disappointed me most, not being able to cover that game.
Bobby (Pitt)
Hey Tim, The Simpsons is a good show, and Gil Gunderson does make his hilarious appearances, what do think about Family Guy?
Tim Graham (3:18 PM)
Big fan of "Family Guy," but it's difficult to compare the shows.
Beahn 69 (coral springs, Florida)
What are your thoughts on Joey pulling off his helmet and throwing it after that huge play on Sunday? If it caused a delay, it would have been 1st n 10 49ers correct? Entertaining yes, but borderline dumb at times if you ask me.
Tim Graham (3:18 PM)
I absolutely agree. It was a selfish moment of telling the world "Hey, look at me!" I like what Porter does on the field and love his brutal honesty in interviews, but that was stupid and could have been costly under different circumstances.
David (Lancaster, PA)
Ok I lied- I have some Bills questions too. Does Steve Johnson's play in the game against the Jets have you excited about his prospects next season? Do you think he'll pass Hardy on the depth chart entering camp next year?
Tim Graham (3:19 PM)
Steve Johnson was brought up on one of my early chats, perhaps before the season began. I've been talking him up as a bright prospect since training camp. The Bills liked him when they drafted him and like him even more once they saw him every day. As for surpassing Hardy, that will be difficult. They drafted Hardy for his size. Johnson is more in the Josh Reed mold.
Bob (Bean Town)
Your thoughts on the Kaczur non-suspension? How did Kaczur get nothing and the diet pills warrent a 4 game suspension when the league knew about the contents and did nothing?
Tim Graham (3:20 PM)
Kaczur wasn't convicted of anything drug-related. I'm not saying I agree with that reasoning, but I'm sure that played a part. Also, he might not have been in the NFL's drug program before this incident. If that's the case, then a first offense is handled internally.
Steiny (NYC)
Are the Dolphins the biggest turnaround in NFL History?
Tim Graham (3:22 PM)
No. The 1999 Colts had a plus-10 differential from 1998.
Bristol, CT
How can you not list in your possible talking points for today's chat "Who is the best First Take Anchor" or "Who's the hottest ESPN Anchor" Come on Graham!!!
Tim Graham (3:22 PM)
I'll open the floor ...
Dick Jauron (Buffalo)
I've always found Gil Gunderson more sympathetic than funny. C'mon, post this in the chat. I need this!
Tim Graham (3:24 PM)
There you go. Hope you're not forced to sell rust guard on those Colecos to pay the mortgage. (a reference to the list of chat talking points on my blog ... http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-4-578/AFC-East-chat-at-3-p-m-.html )
Tim Graham (3:25 PM)
OK, opening the floor on that topic wasn't the wisest decision I've ever made ...Thanks for your rather graphic comments.
kevin
how long do you think it will be before the dolphins turn the reins over to Chad Henne?
Tim Graham (3:26 PM)
Barring an injury to Pennington, 2010.
Joey Porter
I knew I won the game, it didn't matter about the helmet
Tim Graham (3:26 PM)
Class always matters.
Robert Paul Weese (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
I was wondering Tim whether the Dolphins actually have a chance of making the playoffs even if they are unable to win their division. I know that the Ravens hold the tiebreaker over them but is there another way?
Tim Graham (3:27 PM)
There is a chance, but it's slim, especially after the Colts clinched one of the two wild cards
Dan (North Wales, PA)
How much stock can you put into the players' support of Jauron in BUffalo? Do you think he's lost the team? Or are these players really this in love with DJ?
Tim Graham (3:29 PM)
No matter where he has been, the players have loved Jauron. He engendered the same response in Chicago. He gives them freedom to be themselves and speak their minds unlike other organizations such as the Patriots or Jets.
Mayor Quimby's Nephew
SAYYYYYY CHOWWWWWWWWDAAAAA
Tim Graham (3:29 PM)
Excellent character, but not recurring
Jim Tampa
Tim, you say it'll be hard to top hardy? Have you seen him play at all...I'm pretty sure I could have done what he's "acomplished" this season. But my real question here was about Steve Johnson...you say he's in the mold of Josh Reed. I disagree. Johnson is 6-2 and 202lbs...that looks like a legit #2 size to me.
Tim Graham (3:30 PM)
Yes, I've seen him play at all. If you can convince me Johnson will be able to purchase four more inches of height, I will say he can be the same target.
MJ (Boston)
Who's having a better year Chad Pennington or Brett Favre...
Tim Graham (3:30 PM)
Pennington, and it's not even close.
John(Beth Park,NY)
90% of the Bills fans want the Buffalo Bills to fire HeadCoach Dick Jauron? Do you think the Bills front office hears the fans complaining? Or do they not care?
Tim Graham (3:32 PM)
I'm sure they care, especially in these economic times when people need to think long and hard about spending money on extravagances such as football tickets.
Steve, Fort Myers
will the weather have any affect this weekend on the fins game?
Tim Graham (3:32 PM)
It's difficult to see how it won't. I guess the latest forecast is for a high of 13.
MJ (Boston)
Thats Freddie Quimby...another great episode...the best is when Homer filmed Ned Flanders for a singles Advertisement, and Ned takes his shirt off and he's absolutely jacked...Ned's the all time best character
Tim Graham (3:33 PM)
I'll have a white wine spritzer ... spritzer ... spritzer ...
Robots (outer space)
What do you mean "such as the Patriots"? We love the Patriots!
Tim Graham (3:35 PM)
Sensational.
Brad(NM)
Do you agree that Jauron's personality isn't conducive to being a HC? Him standing all stoic-like on the sidelines doesn't exactly get the players fired up, nor does it show that he has a passion for winning. At least that's the way it appears to fans such as myself.
Tim Graham (3:35 PM)
Do you recall ever seeing Tom Landry scream?
MIKE / ORLANDO,FL.
"Matt Cassel is the best story in the AFC East this year." I disagree. What about Chad Pennington ? Clearly Brett Favre will cost the Jets more than he will help them when all is said and done. Matt Cassell is simply in system that favors his talents. Does Ricky Williams have any shot at winning the "comeback player of the year award" given his past substance problems?
Tim Graham (3:37 PM)
Pennington is doing what he has done so many times before. He's the main reason the Dolphins have turned it around, but the way he's playing is a shock to no one. I think Joey Porter has a better chance to win comeback honors.
Mike (Atlanta, GA)
Is the Dolphin's turn around season hurting their future one's? They will be picking further down in the draft and next year's schedule will be a lot harder.
Tim Graham (3:38 PM)
The Dolphins will be a far easier sell to free agents now.
Rich (DEL)
All of us football fans outside of the AFC East are thankful that you are not taking any questions about the rest of the NFL.... your football rankings (although clueless) do have us laughing quite often. Seems you don't necessarily need to know football to host a chat. Dallas 11th...Minnesota 14th...these are 2 of the 7 best Defenses...need I say more-on
Tim Graham (3:39 PM)
Rich, it took you longer to write that than it did for me to do my power rankings. They are worthless aside from getting people to argue about them. Thanks for caring.
raul chicago,il
Are the Pittsburgh Steelers for real? How far will they go?
Tim Graham (3:40 PM)
With a defense like that and a quarterback who delivers in the clutch, all the way.
MJ (Boston)
where do the Dolphins have to improve, corner? is Jason Allen a safety?
Tim Graham (3:42 PM)
The Dolphins actually are getting pretty good play from their corners lately. Will Allen and Andre Goodman have been effective.
ed hochuli
personal foul, on Rich, 15 yards
Tim Graham (3:42 PM)
Good ol' Ed.
John (Miami)
Am I crazy for thinking the Dolphins will have success next year with Ginn/Camarillo/Bess as their starting WRs? I think all of those players can grow into a very solid WR group.
Tim Graham (3:42 PM)
You're not crazy.
Tim Graham (3:43 PM)
But I do think they'd like to augment that position.
Frank Grimes, Springfield:
the episode I am in may in fact be the best ever......"Soooooo whats new Grimey"
Tim Graham (3:43 PM)
That's up there with the monorail and Buck McCoy.
Beahn 69 (Florida)
Do you see the Phins beefing up the O line a bit to in the off season account for the poor running between the tackles?
Tim Graham (3:45 PM)
A bit, but probably at center and for depth. They like Justin Smiley and Donald Thomas as their guards, but both will be coming off season-ending injuries.
Happy (Sacramento, CA)
I really feel for Marshawn Lynch having to work so hard to help his QB only to see him throw picks and fumble the ball away. Chances of him staying in Buffalo once his FA period comes around?
Tim Graham (3:46 PM)
I was wondering that myself the other day. He's not too happy with the whole situation there. He's still sore at the media and the fans over the hit-and-run incident and he's not getting the critical touches and No. 1 back should (fourth quarter, red zone).
HP in PA
You listed Center, WR and Secondary as needs next year. Satale is solid and D. Thomas & J. Smiley will be back next year to help out. How about LB since they are the oldest group especially if Crowder leaves? Maulaluga or Laurinitis would look good in aqua and orange.
Tim Graham (3:47 PM)
Satele has been playing guard lately. That's how solid he is. He's not having a great sophomore season. The two linebackers you mentioned are super studs.
Josh (Pittsburgh)
Have you heard anything about Duke Preston getting fined for shoving that refs in the back during the Jets game?
Tim Graham (3:49 PM)
I haven't heard anything definitive, but the reaction after the game was that it was an understandable play from a player desperate to stop a touchdown.
Jeremy (Miami)
Tell me Crowders playing this weekend?? Can you ask him what his status is? I'll wait.
Tim Graham (3:50 PM)
The official status is questionable. But he didn't practice today.
Santa Clause (North Pole)
Tim you are very close to being on the naughty list, you better be careful, only 6 days left..
Tim Graham (3:50 PM)
If I get anything for Christmas this year then the whole naughty-or-nice policy is a fraud.
Giovanni (Buffalo)
chances Angelo Crowell resigns with Buffalo
Tim Graham (3:51 PM)
About the same as Losman.
Captain Ron! (Tampa, FL)
Which upcoming free agents on the Dolphins will they try to retain? I think Will Allen and Channing Crowder need to be locked down for sure. Your thoughts?
Tim Graham (3:52 PM)
Both have played well, but you never know with Bill Parcells. He's not afraid to turn over his roster.
Lionel Hutz (Springfield)
Mr. Hutz do you have any substantial evidence....(Lionel Hutz): "Well I have alot of hearsay and conjecture, those are kinds of evidence"...
Eli (San Diego)
Do you think that the Dolphins will be more successful in the playoffs by winning the division or getting the last wild card spot?
Tim Graham (3:54 PM)
The wild card is a long shot. They better win the division to eliminate any doubt.
Dan (North Wales, PA)
Odds of Buffalo fans seeing McNabb to Evans for 6 next year?
Tim Graham (3:54 PM)
27 percent
Jebediah Obadiah Zachariah Jedediah Springfield (springfield)
I ran across 6 states to avoid debt collectors, I should get a nod on this blog!
Tim Graham (3:56 PM)
And lest we forget Cletus.
Eric (Florida)
If the Dolphins lose to the Jets, but somehow get the wild card slot, couldn't they be playing again the very next week?
Tim Graham (3:57 PM)
I don't think that's possible. They have to beat the Jets.
Tim Graham (3:58 PM)
58 minutes in and we're on pace for 1,000 questions and comments. Great job everybody.
Jeff, Maine
Please no more Simpsons references. That show hasn't been good in 9 years.
Nick (Bills, NY)
tim too much football, more simpsons, food and drink talk, where should i get coacktails tonight?
Tim Graham (3:59 PM)
Can't please everybody ...
Eric (Florida)
If the Ravens and Patriots lose the next two, the Dolphins would get the wild card if they just won one of the next two. I didn't think it would matter which game they lost.
Tim Graham (4:02 PM)
They would win the division if they beat the Jets. Only if they beat the Chiefs and lose to the Jets and the Ravens lose both games and the Patriots lose both games and the Jets also lose this week would the Dolphins get a wild card berth if they lose to the Jets ...
Tim Graham (4:02 PM)
I think
Ed Hochuli
Personal Foul.. Jeff,Maine for dissing the Simpsons 15 yards and loss of down
Paul Union Beach
Tim, as much as i love how he runs...would you dare to call ronnie browns season a tinge, overrated?
Tim Graham (4:04 PM)
I don't think he deserves to be in the Pro Bowl
johnny(NY)
Do you think Andre Reed or Steve Tasker will be joining Bruce Smith in the Hall of Fame next year?
Tim Graham (4:04 PM)
Not next year, but eventually.
Dan (North Wales, PA)
enough playoff talk, are you trying to alienate the Buffalo readers or what?
Tim Graham (4:05 PM)
Good point.
Lori (Port Allegany, PA)
Did Eric just say, "Patriots lose the next two"? Including to the Bills? Hahahahaa. Good one ... Seriously: odds of seeing Gibran Hamdan this weekend?
Tim Graham (4:05 PM)
23 percent
Terrelle (baltimore md)
Do u think the ravens will make the playoffs
Tim Graham (4:05 PM)
I do. They'll beat the Jaguars in Week 17.
Andrew (Miami, FL)
scenario: Fins and Pats lose this weekend and Jets win. Then Fins beat Jets, and Pats win next week. Who wins the AFC East?
Tim Graham (4:06 PM)
What is this the SAT?
Tim Graham (4:07 PM)
Dolphins would have the tiebreakers by beating the Jets.
Kyle(Buffalo,NY)
Lets hope are buddy from the Buffalo News Jerry Sullivan keeps putting the heat on the Buffalo Bills to get rid of Dick Jauron! He isn't afraid to call the bills out! and I love it!
Tim Graham (4:08 PM)
He's not afraid to call out his dry cleaner.
Louie (Tampa)
To answer Andrew's question the Jets would win the division.....they hold all the tie-breakers.
Tim Graham (4:10 PM)
Dolphins have the tiebreaker over the Jets based on conference record.
Chad Pennington (miami)
Hey Tim how do you feel about me getting no love from the Pro bowl voters? I put up better numbers then Brett Farve and oh i forgo just a bunch of No.2 receivers and tight ends!
Tim Graham (4:11 PM)
No. 2 receivers? You're being generous.
Jay, NY
Tim, don't you have some shopping to do?
Tim Graham (4:12 PM)
Ugh ... don't remind me. Looks like gift cards and whatever's left on the shelf of the 24-hour grocery store.
Vince(Buffalo)
Better reciver Steve Johnson or James Hardy
Tim Graham (4:13 PM)
when it comes to catching the ball, Johnson
Shawn (Odenton, MD)
Odds another playoff game played in Buffalo will occur in my lifetime?
Tim Graham (4:13 PM)
How old are you?
Tim Graham (4:14 PM)
Sorry ... I got crossed up ... Common opponents comes before conference
Tim Graham (4:15 PM)
Dolphins are 9-3 against common opponents. Jets are 7-5.
Tim Graham (4:16 PM)
For the record, the tiebreaker order is head to head, division, common opponents, conference, strength of victory, strength of schedule, and then some stuff that gets rather arcane ...
John (Miami)
No 2 Receivers generous...? Camarillo was on his way to 1000 yards... Ginn could reach 1000 next year... I think you will be changing your tune next year.
Tim Graham (4:17 PM)
When that's all you have to throw to, those are the stats they will accumulate. Before Camarillo was hurt, Miami's game-day receiving corps was three undrafted players and a guy most people consider a bust.
Chad Pennington (miami)
How many more years you think i am going to play until either youngster Chad Henne could take over or whats the other guy's name??....oh yea John Beck?
Tim Graham (4:18 PM)
You have at least one more year with Miami.
Ed Hochuli
after further review, the defender never had possession, 2 and 10, Louie Tampa
Tim Graham (4:19 PM)
I'm throwing my challenge flag. Take another look. That's the first call you've blown all year (on this chat).
chat room, calling you out
way too much football talk today not enough goofing off
Tim Graham (4:20 PM)
I agree.
Chris (FL)
What if all the teams tie their remaining games? What happens then? Or, what if each team wins one game and ties the other? Or, what if the airlines all shut down and none of the games are played? Please, Tim Graham, master of tiebreakers, help me!
Tim Graham (4:20 PM)
Step 12: coin flip
Ed Hochuli
illegal formation on graham, 5 yards, 1st and 15
Tim Graham (4:21 PM)
Rest assured, I'll get fined for my post-chat comments about the officiating.
Frank, Albany
Favorite football based movie?
Tim Graham (4:22 PM)
The Longest Yard (the original)
What have I created?
The "Ed Hochuli" posts are usually mine, but today an imposter has taken over. I think there should be an investigation, because this Ed stinks.
Tim Graham (4:22 PM)
Scandal!!!
Happy (Sacramento, CA)
I thought Step 12 was take the AFC West's playoff spot.
Tim Graham (4:23 PM)
That would be appropriate.
City of Buffalo
I think we would take back Jauron if he coached drunk. The results would probably be better and far more entertaining.
Tim Graham (4:23 PM)
And then Buffalo would embrace him ... win or lose.
Kurt W(arizona)
Tim you never answer my ?s am I to old? Do I finish the game this week? What 2rbs should I stsrt on my fantasy team Portis Deangelo Sjax Thomas Merry Xmas
Tim Graham (4:27 PM)
I don't do fantasy questions. There are a bazillion sites to check out for the latest injury info or matchups. And nobody cares about to read through a series of either-or questions.
Louie (Tampa)
You know the only thing more annoying then an over-zealous Bills fan, and apathetic Fish fan. Neither team is getting to the playoffs...so pipe down and relax. You'll see Pennington for who he truly is in Week 17.....an man who can never finish the deal!
Tim Graham (4:27 PM)
Against another guy who has developed the same rep.
Kiran (Washington, DC)
Hey, while studying physics last week I read your chat, and I got an A-, so thank you. Also, I have a new 6 word synopsis for our season: 180 yards rushing? Almost won? Pass!
Tim Graham (4:28 PM)
What a fluke. This is the place where brain cells come to die.
Jeremy (Palm Beach Gardens,FL)
Do you think the Dolphins can win a home playoff game against a team like the Colts or Ravens?
Tim Graham (4:29 PM)
I don't. The Ravens already have done it once, and it wasn't that tough.
JP Losman, Buffalo
Tim, Will you help me put this Rob Johnson FatHead up on my wall?
Tim Graham (4:29 PM)
You shouldn't be putting anything on your wall. You should be packing.
Louie (Tampa)
Hmmmm....funny, the last time I checked Mr. Farve is a three time MVP and a Super Bowl Champion. None of those awards sit on Pennington's mantle.
Tim Graham (4:30 PM)
And what does that have to do with this season?
Andre Johnson(Houston)
If Tom Brady was my quarter back would I break Moss' touchdown record
Tim Graham (4:30 PM)
You'd certainly get a lot more attention that you do.
Corey (Buffalo, NY)
Re: Matt Cassel, I personally find Chad Pennington's story much more compelling, he finally found a place that appreciates him for just being solid. The NE receiving core has a lot to do with Cassel's success than the something-from-nothing Pennington's pulling off.
Tim Graham (4:32 PM)
Pennington has been a great story for sure. I've written about him a ton. I just find Cassel's story more inspirational. He went from being a joke to running the same offense the Patriots installed for the Super Bowl.
Bobby (Pitt)
Wings were a topic in your blog to chat about, but you still didn't answer the question..why is this Tim?
Tim Graham (4:33 PM)
I must've missed the question. What was it?
Fan in Buffalo
If the Ralph Wilson we all know stay true to himself and saves money by keeping Jauron does Turk take bullet and be let go?
Tim Graham (4:34 PM)
That would be tough. Do you want your quarterback learning another system? That would be three years and three coordinators.
Louie (Tampa)
It has nothing to do with this season....but you made a comment dealing with reputation. And #4's rep is that of a winner and an MVP. Penny's is one of never being able to finish what he starts. I'll take my chances with Favre...
Tim Graham (4:36 PM)
Really? When he threw that interception in the NFC title game?
Um...
#4's reputation WAS as a winner and an MVP. This isn't 1996 anymore.
Jason Peters (Honolulu, baby)
Tim, you seem to give preference to posters who have posted before rather than ones who truly deserve it -- you know I'm not cool with that.
Tim Graham (4:37 PM)
I don't look at the names before I post the question. But I can see why you'd enjoy that policy.
MJ (Boston)
Tim - who's better Derell Revis or Asante "Overrated" Samuel?
Tim Graham (4:38 PM)
Revis is fantastic. He deserved his Pro Bowl selection even though the fans ignored him.
Bobby (Pitt)
Besides the wings from Wal-Mart what's the other top 3 choices?
Tim Graham (4:40 PM)
Sorry I missed your question before. ... Duff's, Gabriel's Gate and then a place on Military that's escaping me. They char-grilled them. Awesome.
Tim Graham (4:41 PM)
Angleo's? Does that ring a bell, Buffalo?
David Connecticut
coors light comercial press conference, or bill belichick press conference which is more revealing on sundays game
Tim Graham (4:42 PM)
You know what? Belichick's actually very insightful. His droning delivery makes you want to nod off, but if you read his comments as opposed to listening to them, you usually learn something.
Louie (Tampa)
Oh I must have forhot that time Pennington played in a AFC title game....oh know I didn't, that's right. He was never good enough or healthy enough to lead his team to one. Something that will be clearly obvious come Week 17.
Tim Graham (4:43 PM)
Easy, cowboy. You mentioned how Pennington can't close the deal. Favre's track record lately isn't too swift either.
The Bar Bill East Aurora
best wings in buffalo, trust me! plus i find it embarassing for you to praise wal mart wings coming from b-lo
Tim Graham (4:45 PM)
The Walmart wings are ridiculously good. The teriyaki anyway.
La Nova's Pizzeria (Buffalo)
Our wings don't get no love Tim...........
Tim Graham (4:46 PM)
They're up there, but not as good as the others.
Louie (Tampa)
Tim, at least Favre has a track record of winning the big one. Penny has never even played in the or a big one. Again, I'll go with #4 all day.
Tim Graham (4:48 PM)
I thought the game against the 49ers was a big one. As was the Bills game.
Bill (Pomona California)
Hey Tim, heard the Jets practiced in the snow. No more Mr. Nice Guy from Mangini after the near Buffalo fiasco?
Tim Graham (4:48 PM)
Jauron practiced outside this week, too. A lot of good it does them now.
Tim Graham (4:50 PM)
All right guys, I think everybody knows where Louie and I stand. Anybody else have any other topics before I wrap it up?
Chris (London, Ontario)
Is Belichick the best coach in the NFL currently?
Tim Graham (4:51 PM)
He is. The debate was whether or not he won because of Brady. I think we've learned the answer to that.
D(connecticut)
Tim my driveways got about 5/6 inches of snow on it. If I get you wings from walmart will you come shovel?
Tim Graham (4:52 PM)
From my seat I can see blue skies and palm trees. You'll need to do a lot better than that.
Louie (Tampa)
Tim, please tell me you are not comparing big regular season wins to big post season wins. Especially to a man who has won a Super Bowl.
Tim Graham (4:53 PM)
So once you win a Super Bowl you're allowed to blow regular-season games with the playoffs on the line and be forgiven for it?
Frankie D: (Saratoga, NY)
Tim, great chat! I know you said the Dolphins season this year will help them lure free agents next year. Could you see TJ Whosyourmomma leave Cincy to come to the Fins?
Tim Graham (4:55 PM)
That would be a huge shot in the arm for an offense that has shown it can be contained on a weekly basis.
Jeff (Bossier City, LA)
Why was Belichek a bust in Cleveland and the man in New England?
Tim Graham (4:55 PM)
He still was learning how to do the job and a series of bad drafts.
Louie (Tampa)
Tim, Favre didn't blow or almost blow the game Sunday. The defense did....then they redeemed themselves at the end. With a little help from your boys Losman and Juron, but a win none the less.
Tim Graham (4:57 PM)
Why are they my boys? Favre isn't that good anymore. Get over it.
Bobby (Pitt)
LOUIE GIVE IT A REST..WHO CARES!!
Tim Graham (4:58 PM)
Trust me when I say Louie speaks for the class based on the comments in my queue, so we'll move on ...
Bill Pioli (New England)
Am I the most over-looked at whatever it is I do since my 53-man roster every year seems to be deeper and better then the rest of the leagues.
Tim Graham (4:58 PM)
So overlooked, in fact, that you didn't remember your first name is Scott.
Buffalo, N.Y.
Walmart wings? You've been out in that Florida sun too long. Oh yeah ... Merry Christmas, Tim.
Tim Graham (4:59 PM)
Try them out. I'm guessing they're the same everywhere. Remember, I'm talking teriyaki, not the regular style.
Fan in Buffalo
After seeing all the teams in this division the Pats are clearly the best of the bunch. How come they are not ahead of the Jets or Pats?
Tim Graham (5:00 PM)
Their two odd games were against the Steelers and Colts. That didn't help.
Tim Graham (5:01 PM)
We're at the two-hour mark, folks. A little longer before I need to hit it ...
Steiny (NYC)
What were your thoughts on Matt Cassel's big day Sunday after the loss of his father earlier in the week?
Tim Graham (5:03 PM)
Tremendous performance under serious emotional strain. If you haven't seen "Inside the NFL" on Showtime, check out the segment on that game. NFL Films had some great shots of Cassel during practice and then after the game. You could see the anguish in his face.
Brian (Orlando, FL)
Tim, if Trent Edwards struggles the final 2 weeks of the season, are the Bills in the market for a veteran QB?
Tim Graham (5:05 PM)
They should be anyway because of Edwards' injury problems. Gibran Hamdan isn't the answer as a No. 2.
Steiny (NYC)
Will Brad Smith return this week?
Tim Graham (5:07 PM)
He is expected to, but I haven't seen the Jets final injury report yet. It usually comes in during my chat, but I haven't gotten it.
Steve, Fort Myers
the biggest drama queen in the NFL?
Tim Graham (5:08 PM)
You can't spell detonate without T.O.
Tim Graham (5:09 PM)
Gotta run, guys. Great job today with the questions and topics. See you next week.
