Buzzmaster (11:06 AM)
Matt is busy working on his blog, so he'll be running a few minutes late today.
Buzzmaster (12:13 PM)
Mr. Mosley says just a few more minutes!

With all the new names that are popping up for the head coaching jobs, what are the chances if the longer the giants are in the playoffs the better our chances are for Spagnuolo to stay with the Giants?
Matt Mosley (12:23 PM)
I'm here. I'm here. I think teams such as the Broncos have a real sense of urgency, so there's probably a better chance that the Giants keep Spagnuolo if they keep this thing going. That said, if the Broncos identify Spags at their No. 1 guy, they have to be willing to wait on him. I wouldn't worry too much about Gilbride.
Yatin (LA)
Hey Matt, great job all year on the Beast Blog, and now we're all rewarded with a great divisional round matchup. Now that Jacobs has got some rest, do you think the Eagles D will be as successful against the Run as they were a month ago?
Matt Mosley (12:25 PM)
Yatin, thanks for the kind words. I think that the Giants are pretty formidable when Jacobs and Ward are complementing each other. The Eagles have an excellent run defense, but I think the Giants will have some success. Not saying Jacobs or Ward will have 100 yards, but I've seen teams such as the Redskins put up solid numbers against the Eagles on the ground.
Dj, Chicago
I think the Ravens D is the best, but i do not understand everyone's take on the offense. The run game doesn't impress me that much, agree?
Matt Mosley (12:27 PM)
DJ: I'm impressed with McClain. It's not a great running game, but they do what they need to do. I know it looked pretty impressive late in that Cowboys game a few weeks ago.
Max (MD)
If I remember correctly, Robbins was injured for the last game and he is a huge contributer. How big of a difference do you see him making in shutting down Westbrook this time around?
Matt Mosley (12:28 PM)
Fred Robbins has been banged up a little bit. I don't recall off the top of my head if he missed that particular game, but I think you're right. He's a good run stuffer and he actually applies some pressure on the quarterback. He had about five sacks at a pretty early point in the season before things cooled down. His presence will certainly help.
Christian (NY)
Who has the advantage: The Eagles receivers or the Giants' secondary?
Matt Mosley (12:30 PM)
I would say the Giants' secondary. Aaron Ross and Corey Webster are both excellent and I think James Butler and Michael Johnson are really underrated. The Eagles have a playmaker in DeSean Jackson, but a lot of those guys are hit and miss. I will say that Jason Avant has really stepped up his game. He's become a go-to guy for McNabb on third downs. Sort of Philly's answer to Steve Smith -- the one from the Giants of course.
DCFanatic, NY
Should the Cowboys entertain trade offers for MBIII this offseason because of what Tashard Choice did?
Matt Mosley (12:31 PM)
Nope. The Giants have shown that it's nice to have depth at running back. And you'd like to make sure Felix Jones is going to be OK before you start trading starters. So no, no and no. Now send me some more videos.

question to MATT MOSLEY AT 12.35 TITANS OR CHARGERS
Matt Mosley (12:31 PM)
Titans
Will J (Portland, OR)
I know it's beating a dead horse, but why do you suppose McNabb, who is a top 5 QB, has been treated differently by the media and coach, than say Peyton, Brady, Brees, Favre etc? Have any of those guys ever been benched for having a bad game(s)? No.
Matt Mosley (12:33 PM)
McNabb was in an awful funk. Tons of turnovers. Reid thought pulling him was the only way. I certainly don't think Eagles fans should complain about that move at this point. There are more points to be made, but the chat's not the right place for something that needs at least 600 words.
SprungOnSports (Long Island)
How do you think the Giants offensive line will deal with the pressure, and can Brandon Jacobs wear down the Philly defense, unlike AP?
Matt Mosley (12:35 PM)
The Eagles kept the ball so long in the second half that AP never had much of a chance. When he did get the ball, the Eagles were all over him. I think the Giants have one of the best offensive lines in football. They'll do a nice job of identifying where the pressure's coming from. These teams know each other really, really well. No huge surprises.
Frank (NY)
I would be shocked if McNabb is back in Phily next season. I think a perfect landing spot would be Minnesota. Whats your take on if he'll be back or where he may wind up.
Matt Mosley (12:35 PM)
He'll be back in Philly next year. This late-season surge sealed the deal.
Sanjay (Da Iladel, PA)
These are without a question the two best defenses in the NFC and employ a similar scheme with Spags coming from the Jim Johnson tree. Which defense has the advantage on Sunday?
Matt Mosley (12:38 PM)
It's an awesome matchup, Sanjay. I think the Giants have a little more firepower along the defensive line and I like the experience that guys like Pierce and Clark bring to the linebacking corps. Secondary is sort of a tossup right now. I think Johnson is the best in the league at in-game adjustments, so I'll give him the coaching edge. This is a tough one.
Christian (NY)
Do you think special teams will have as big an effect on this game as the Vikings game did?
Matt Mosley (12:40 PM)
I seem to recall the Giants returning a blocked field goal for a TD late in the first half against the Eagles. Temps in the low 20s from what I've been told, although the entire game will be played in daylight so it won't get too nasty. Still, it's a huge field position game. I like Feagles over Rocca. Akers and Carney sort of a tossup and Jackson's the best return man in this game. Give the edge to the Eagles.
Stu, NYC
With Burress not coming back, do you think their priorty in the draft s/b at WR position. I'm not a fan of Hixon and don't think he'll cut it.
Matt Mosley (12:42 PM)
Wow, let's not get ahead of ourselves and start talking draft. But it's hard to find impact rookies at that position. And yes, I know that Eddie Royal, DeSean Jackson and Donnie Avery have done well. It's still sort of a crapshoot. If you want to upgrade, see who's out there. Man, wouldn't Boldin look good on this team?
Justin (Ohio)
Who would you take? Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu.
Matt Mosley (12:42 PM)
Reed
Chris (Ledyard, CT)
So, how much of a chance do the Eagles have of walking away with a win on Sunday, in your opinion?
Matt Mosley (12:42 PM)
Great chance
Mark (Hershey, PA)
Without a major receiving threat from the Giants, do you think Johnson will focus most of his efforts on stopping the run rather than going gang-busters on the blitz packages?
Matt Mosley (12:43 PM)
STOP THE RUN
Brandon Phoenix, AZ
Do you think Scott Pioli takes the Chiefs job?
Matt Mosley (12:43 PM)
Nope
Will J (Portland, OR)
Matt, which place do you think is a better place to watch a game (Lincoln Financial or The Meadowlands)?
Matt Mosley (12:45 PM)
Wrong person to ask because I'm always in the toasty press box. From a reporter's standpoint, the Meadowlands' press box is so high that it's hard to see everything. Better sightlines at the Linc.
Chris (Cali)
Do you think Dallas regrets their recent resignings? Flozell, Hamlin, Barber, Crayton, and Colombo? The only one that made sense at the time was Marion. They also had two first round picks to work with also.
Matt Mosley (12:47 PM)
They had the cap in mind on all of these. They can get out of some of these without taking too much of a hit. Cutting T.O. wouldn't hurt them as much as you might think. They don't have an alternate plan at LT. Kenny Hamlin was bad this season. I don't think they regret the Barber or Colombo deals.
Scott (PA)
What surge? Jim Johnson's surge. If McNabb is in Philly in 09, he can thank Jim Johnson. The eagles are where they are not because of Reid, not because of McNabb, but because of a few breaks of a lifetime and a great defensive effort all season.
Matt Mosley (12:49 PM)
So Reid doesn't get any credit for making a move at halftime at the Ravens game that his team responded to with five out of six wins? And I think McNabb's been a huge part of their success. Go cry on someone else's shoulder about all those NFC title games and the Super Bowl appearance. I realize that McNabb can be sort of maddening at times, but do you actually think Kevin Kolb is the answer right now? Don't answer that.
Nick (NJ)
Lets look at the Giants games without Plax: Washington and Carolina - they have a healthy Jacobs/OLine and win. Eagles/Dallas/Minnesota they have injuries and people not playing and lose while still playing close and having a chance to win. Let the Eagles load up to stop the run, the Eli will have a field day throwing over the top.
Matt Mosley (12:50 PM)
Sorry Nick, but you sort of got dominated by the Eagles and Cowboys in those games. No other way to say it.
chris (pa)
Matt, did you see when McNabb caught that pass on the sideliens at the end of the game on Sunday and then acted like a fool running around. What other veteran quarterback would do that. This is not someone you want to keep as your QB.
Matt Mosley (12:52 PM)
As long as he winning games, let him act like a goofball on the sideline. So you'd rather have Kolb because he's less likely to catch a ball on the sideline and joke around? Again, that's a rhetorical one.
GMan (NJ)
Does it not look like the Giants are underdogs again all of a sudden? Won't they just feed on this like last year?
Matt Mosley (12:52 PM)
They are NOT underdogs.
Srini (San Francisco, CA)
Are u surprised only 1 cowboys assistant coach has been fired?
Matt Mosley (12:52 PM)
No. This is part of Jerry's Countdown to Continuity marketing campaign.
Rey
Jerry Jones says words to the affect after the Philly lose that he sees he needs to change and will. What do you feel or know that those changes will be? At this point, does he feel his Management style (i.e, be less hands off) needs to change?
Matt Mosley (12:54 PM)
Jerry's not changing.
ian ct
who do you got sunday...eagles or gmen?
Matt Mosley (12:54 PM)
Right now, I have the Giants winning by a field goal. Low-scoring game. 17-14
Christian (NY)
Could Correll Buckhalter end up being a factor this Sunday? What are the chances he gets more touches?
Matt Mosley (12:56 PM)
He should be a factor. He had the one nice run against the Vikes. Solid player who needs to have a few more touches. So yes, I'd get him more involved.
Ken (Scottsdale, AZ)
You know Matt, just because Jerry won't fire himself as GM, doesn't mean you can't question his job performance directly....Is the spread at in the press box at Texas Stadium that good?
Matt Mosley (12:59 PM)
Are you kidding me? I criticize the guy pretty much every day. I'm just stating the obvious. He's not going to change his management style. He's been a successful owner and he's been good for the league. He's a dreadful GM. I'm just telling you the truth. This man would rather lose with a weak head coach than win with a real one. Otherwise, we'd be covering a news conference announcing Shanahan's hiring.
John Charlotte nc
Matt who will win the Saturday night between the cats and Cards?Go panthers
Matt Mosley (1:00 PM)
Panthers
Keith Elko Nevada
Matt Hi Who do you think is the front runner for the Broncos head coaching job
Matt Mosley (1:00 PM)
Spags
Yatin (LA)
Can you help straighten something out, as I've read conflicting reports. Who's calling the plays these days for the Eagles - Reid or Morhninweg?
Matt Mosley (1:01 PM)
They share it. I think Mornhinweg plays a huge role in coming up with the game plan. He suggests plays during the game and Andy either signs of or comes up with something on his own.
Rob (Philadelphia, PA)
Are the Cowboys going to be blown out of proportion as the team to beat in the NFC East again this season?
Matt Mosley (1:01 PM)
certainly not on my blog
Stu, NYC
Without Plax, deep threat,I think the game can go either way. It would be a different game plan with him and I wouldn't be so worried about the G-men losing. What's your opinion.
Matt Mosley (1:02 PM)
I totally agree -- and I've said so in a blogger's debate that will be posted a little later this afternoon on the NFC East blog.
Mike (San Francisco)
Hey Matt, trivia question for you. Name the last head coach to win a Super Bowl with a team, leave to coach another team, and win a Super Bowl with their new team. The answer is that it has never happened. Something to remember for the fans squawking for Shanahan or Cowher to coach their teams.
Matt Mosley (1:03 PM)
Fair point, Mike.
Jason (Bryn Mawr, PA)
Matt, how do you assess the schedule when making statements like "Reid doesn't get any credit for making a move at halftime at the Ravens game that his team responded to with five out of six wins?"? We keep hearing that the team responded, but look at the 6 teams they played, wouldnt they have finished 5-1 against those teams regardless of the benching?
Matt Mosley (1:06 PM)
Jason, the team I watched heading into that Baltimore game wouldn't have gone 5-1. When you're picking up ties against the Bengals and turning the ball over like crazy, what makes you think you're going to beat teams such as the Giants, Redskins, Cowboys, Cardinals, etc.? Not sure why it's so hard to give McNabb and Reid some credit.
Tyler Dallas
Matt, Your cousin Miss Texas. Gotta get that number brah.
Matt Mosley (1:07 PM)
Good luck with that.
Yosef (MD)
Hey Matt, hope you're spiffy as always. Do you think Carlos Rogers gets traded this off-season? And what is your thought on the future of Jason Campbell?
Matt Mosley (1:09 PM)
Yosef: I'm pretty spiffy today -- especially in this 8-year-old Soho Downtown R line T-shirt. But anyway, Rogers won't be traded. And I think Jason Campbell's arrow is still pointed up. We probably expected too much in his first year with Zorn. Now if he struggles next season, we need to have a conversation. But Jason spends about an hour on the NFC East blog every day, so we're going to stick with him for now.
Todd (New York, NY)
As I sit here and see all these teams trying to vulture the Giants staff for the likes of Spagnuolo and Gilbride, I wondered: how come no one has ever offered Spags' mentor, Jim Johnson, a head coaching job? I don't recall the Eagles ever being in danger of losing their best weapon, which, IMO, is him...
Matt Mosley (1:12 PM)
Todd, Johnson's sort of in the same place where Monte Kiffin arrived. He's a tremendous defensive coach, but at some point, the window sort of closed on his head-coaching opportunities. There's no shame in that. He's having a great career. BTW, one of the reasons Reid wouldn't let Spags follow Childress to Minny was because he was afraid Johnson would get a head-coaching job. So it was at least a consideration at some point.
justin B-more
do you see Nnamdi Asomugha on the move this offseason as the raider try to accumulate more draft picks?
Matt Mosley (1:12 PM)
He's one of the few players they have. They'll keep him.
derek (cincinnati)
philadelphia no doubt has talent. but around my town they are looked at as a team that is playing to lose. im taking them to the super bowl! when they are hot, they are hot n mcnabb is playing with a chip on his shoulder. good call or bad call
Matt Mosley (1:16 PM)
Derek, You were the first person in line today, so I'll end with you. I don't think it's crazy at all to pick the Eagles. And I don't think they're "playing to lose." Not even sure what that means. If you meant "playing not to lose" I certainly wouldn't agree with that assessment either. Stick to your guns. This Eagles team has a little something right now. Watch out when you have a team that looks this loose. Lots of confidence at the exact right time.
Ghost (Cocoa Beach, FL)
Will T.O. destroy the Cowboys by constantly starting drama and throwing his teamates under the bus, or will they lose him?
Matt Mosley (1:18 PM)
OK, this really is the last one -- since I was running late. Jerry can't say goodbye to T.O. But he should. He's the biggest distraction a team could ever had. And I'm not talking about the public stuff. I'm talking about how he goes around having whisper sessions with the defense about Jason Garrett. You have to do something about this guy, but Jerry doesn't want to lend all the Sunday Conversations to another team.
