Keith Lipscomb (3:01 PM)
Hello everybody. Hope you had a nice weekend. I'm going to chat until Shaq's free-throw streak comes to an end.
Albert (New York, New York)
What should I do with Boozer? I'm currently third in a 1 season league and Jackson, Randolph, Josh Howard, and Boozer are all on my team and injured.
Keith Lipscomb (3:03 PM)
I have had similar problems in a couple leagues this season, so I feel your pain. It's likely going to be hard to maintain your standing with all of these guys out, and with Boozer out the longest, it makes sense to cut him loose. And since he's out a month before he is reevaluated, he could miss even more time, which could push it into late February or even March before we see him on the court, for all we know.
ed (ellicott city, md)
hey keith, i followed your advice on brook lopez. you said that boone would nerf his value. i dropped him and someone else picked em up and hes been owning and in the top 5 in blocks. great advice.
Keith Lipscomb (3:07 PM)
I'm sorry to have led you astray, Ed, but since Boone had a couple big games in the early going, I thought that he would eat into Lopez's minutes too much for Lopez to maintain his consistency. But a combination of factors has kept Lopez on the court regularly. It won't be the last time I'm wrong, but allow me to admit my mistake for you. Lopez is definitely the better player, but I didn't expect him to hang onto the big minutes for so long.
adam(Houston)
Im i crazy but i picked up Von Wafer and Aaron Brooks... Good Call or pure craziness?
Keith Lipscomb (3:09 PM)
Depends on the depth of your league, really, Adam. Brooks has been useful in deeper leagues as a matchups play, whenever Alston's missed time, and Wafer's been the beneficiary of the mega injuries Houston has. Long term, Wafer's not much of an option, but Brooks could still be.
Craig - Pasadena
Mike Miller - time to cut bait? 10 team league.
Keith Lipscomb (3:12 PM)
In a 10-team league, there are likely still better options on the wire right now. And while I like Miller as a player, he's still working his way back from that ankle injury and isn't doing enough to help much in fantasy. If you can't wait any longer, I can see cutting him.
Kesh (Toronto, Ontario)
Hey Keith, you have been giving some good advice on the show... keep it up!!! I have Yi in my league and am currently in first place by 4 games. I have no other injuries. Should I drop him?
Keith Lipscomb (3:15 PM)
Thank you, Kesh. Since he's out 4-6 weeks by most reports, I think you've got to drop him at some point in order to get someone in your lineup who can help you. At least you have the luxury of being in first place, but I'm sure there's someone on the wire who can help you. And if you really like Yi, then go back and pick him up in a few weeks, before he's set to come back.
Jeremy (Boston)
Someone in my league, dropped Oden. Would you drop Arenas or Ellis for him?
Keith Lipscomb (3:17 PM)
Definitely not Ellis, who is close to returning, but Arenas, why not, since I'm still not sure if/when he will get back on the court for the Wizards. Sure, Arenas has the upside if he returns even close to his normal self, but that appears to be a big "if", especially on a team that's going nowhere fast.
Rueben
Blatche or A. Bynum this week with three games? Tough call for me.
Keith Lipscomb (3:18 PM)
Bynum. He's played very well in his past three games. This is an easy choice for me.
Pierre Belmong
Should I pick up Marquis Daniels?
Keith Lipscomb (3:19 PM)
Only if you're in a deep league and you can handle a guy with a bad groin and who will now see his minutes decline with Dunleavy back. I think Daniels' stock drops significantly now that Dunleavy will be getting big minutes as soon as he's ready for them.
Ben (Los Angeles)
Denver plays Dallas on Tuesday and last I heard, JR Smith?s supposed to appear in New Jersey traffic court the same day. Do you think JR misses a game this week?
Keith Lipscomb (3:21 PM)
From what I've read, Ben, it's still unclear as to whether he'll miss the game or not. If I see anything before the chat ends, one way or the other, I'll drop a quick note, though.
Ryan(madison,wi)
Please help! 1 owner(near the bottom, made some questionable deals) traded AI/Artest for Dalembert/Fernadez. Do you think this is a VETO? I am usually anti veto but this stinks.....
Keith Lipscomb (3:22 PM)
I'm also not big on vetoing, but I AM big on preserving the integrity of the league and that's just a bad deal, especially considering that Dalembert hasn't been very productive. I think it's worth a veto.
sascha (brooklyn)
Who has the most value going forward? Mike Miller, Alston, Hinrich, Augustin, Sessions (both of whom miiiight be traded?), Blatche?
Keith Lipscomb (3:25 PM)
If indeed Felton is shipped out of Charlotte, then I would say Augustin has the most upside to contribute in points, assists, 3s and free-throw percentage. But there are negatives with him, too (FG%, almost no boards and the low steals are very disappointing). I would say Miller could wind up being next if he can get healthy. He's too talented to play this poorly, if he's really healthy.
jay (NJ)
should i sell high on david lee after hearing all the trade rumors? I can get melo in return
Keith Lipscomb (3:27 PM)
I try not to get too worked up about trade rumors, because Lee has been outstanding and if he stays in New York, at least he's healthy and producing, unlike Melo right now. If you can make the deal closer to when Anthony is going to return, it would make a lot more sense. You could go a month before you get anything out of that deal.
Gary Long Island)
Who do you think has a better chance of starting at least one game this week? Jose calderone or stephen Jackson?
Keith Lipscomb (3:29 PM)
Even with the setback on Sunday, I still would say Calderon has the better chance of suiting up at some point. Jackson wants to be back out there, but with all the injuries the Warriors have had, I think they'll be more cautious with Jackson.
Jon (Los Angeles CA)
Tryin to trade Yao Ming before he gets injured again. Is Rashard Lewis a good and fair offer for him? Or should I be able to get more for Yao Ming? Thanks.
Keith Lipscomb (3:32 PM)
It is about that time of year, isn't it, Jon? While Yao is a better fantasy player than Lewis, there are those who are reluctant to own Yao because of his injury history, so that might be a more realistic deal to expect. That doesn't mean you can't try to get more for Yao, whose numbers are quite good, and all you need is one owner who feels the same way. Good luck!
jack (markham)
who should i offer for kaman? diaw, kenyon, stuckey...i'll be needing some boards and blocks down the road
Keith Lipscomb (3:36 PM)
The problem here is that Kaman is out until after the All-Star break, so I wouldn't want to give up anyone for someone who's no sure thing to get back, considering he's a big man with a foot injury. If your team is just that deep and in that good a shape that you're going to do the deal regardless, then K-Mart is the guy I'd deal. But I'd hold off until we hear good news about Kaman, which has been a while.

Keith Lipscomb (3:37 PM)
Sorry about the delays with posting. Extreme internet slowdown in progress here.
Scrapper (Midwest)
Who'd you rather have for the rest of the season-- Ray Allen or Jason Terry
Keith Lipscomb (3:40 PM)
If the Mavs are looking to add another member to their backcourt, that would affect Terry's value for sure. Allen is the safer pick, in my mind, because the C's don't appear to be making any such moves. They are quite close in value as it is, but I'd side with Allen ever-so-slightly.
Jeff (Chicago)
Keith - Do you have any pickup recommendations for owners dropping Yi? Someone with upside for the next 4 weeks?
Keith Lipscomb (3:41 PM)
Anderson Varejao is someone who comes to mind right away and is available in most leagues. He could average close to a double-double until Z comes back.
Rob Jacoby, Palm Beach Gardens, FL
How long do you estimate Baron Davis will be out of action? Is Mardy Collins a reasonalbe play in a 12-player averages league?
Keith Lipscomb (3:43 PM)
I've been expecting Davis to return soon, but as long as he's out Collins is a reasonable play, sure, because he's getting huge minutes and can contribute in multiple categories. Just watch out for those poor shooting nights.
JWR (Chicago)
I have Chris Paul and obviously have received numerous overtures in potential dump-type deals. I can keep him one more season. Is he "untradeable" and, if not, what is a proper return for Paul in a dump-type deal?
Keith Lipscomb (3:45 PM)
You certainly hold all the cards, JWR, so if you're going to deal him, you've got to make your team better. Since I'm assuming you're out of the race for this season, make sure you get multiple keepers in return. Otherwise, I don't see why you'd get rid of him.
Hobo, Los Angeles, CA
What do I do with Shawn Marion? He's looking more and more like a bust, and his role in the Miami offense looks limited at best. Do I try to get what I can for him in a trade or do I wait until he gets more consistent or even better, gets traded by the trade deadline?
Keith Lipscomb (3:48 PM)
I'm not sure if you'll be able to find someone who thinks they're getting the old Marion, but I don't think a trade will remedy his problems. He's way too inconsistent and just can't create his own offense, so with the lack of 3s, all he's a regular help for is rebounds and a decent source of steals and blocks. Not much more.
Joel (Thousand Oaks)
Is there anything new about when Brand might return to action. I've been hearing both good and bad things out there.
Keith Lipscomb (3:50 PM)
What I've heard most is that he'll return in the middle of next week, so he should be close to getting back. Now it's a question of whether he can avoid doing up that shoulder again.
basement dweller (canada)
al jefferson for yao? which one has more value if both healthy?
Keith Lipscomb (3:52 PM)
If you need help in FT%, Yao provides a lot more help, because he shoots so much better and goes to the line a lot more, and he shoots better from the field. But Jefferson scores and rebounds a bit more. Very, very tight. It depends on your team needs, really.
Dan (Harrisburg, PA)
What are your thoughts on Eddy Curry? I have him in a 15 team points based league. The wire is pretty thin - so I've been holding him hoping he can put up something like 17 and 5 when he rounds into shape.
Keith Lipscomb (3:53 PM)
I have a hard time seeing him rounding into shape, especially after seeing him in his first game back. He just can't get up an down right now, and with D'Antoni's system, they're not going to wait for him. Until he can get back into shape, which still appears a ways off, I don't see him getting meaningful minutes on a regular basis. He's got work to do.
Anthony (Cali)
Would Gerald Wallace for Shawn Marion be a good trade? Who wins it?
Keith Lipscomb (3:55 PM)
The only thing about getting Wallace is his injury history. Otherwise, he's the better fantasy option. Marion is better in only rebounds, really. Blocks are too close to fret about.
Matt (New Orleans)
Too early to pick up Monta Ellis in a H2H league? As you know, in H2H the team that has the most "active" players has a great chance to win in this format.
Keith Lipscomb (3:56 PM)
I know it all too well this season, Matt! But if Ellis is your only injured player, I think it's a great pickup, because the upside is quite high. If you've got two injured players already ... well, it's not so easy to pull the trigger.
Cale Berthold
I have harris in a keeper league 16 teams h2h. My keepers are picked out amare, paul, and durant. Im hurting for 3s and have received the offer of harris for kidd and rashard. should i do it?
Keith Lipscomb (3:59 PM)
If it's going to help you win this year and you're not going to keep Harris anyway, then it makes sense. After all, if you're not going to win unless you make make gains in 3s, then you have to do something and by getting Kidd and Lewis, you are making up ground in a big way. Kidd's FG% won't help much, but at least he helps in other categories, and Lewis is a capable scorer.
ivhan (toronto)
antawn jamison for okafor a fair deal? i need boards and blocks
Keith Lipscomb (4:02 PM)
Is it fair? Sure, it's fair probably, but the gain you'll make in boards is quite small. And while you get some help in FG% and blocks, Okafor's FT% is poor. It's an option, but the only huge upgrade is in blocks, really.
Rich (San Jose)
Felton or Bynum? I have Harris, Westbrook & Stuckey for Asst, but I'm short Center eligible players...
Keith Lipscomb (4:03 PM)
I think you answered your own question there, Rich. Sounds like you need Bynum a lot more.
Keith Lipscomb (4:04 PM)
That's going to do it for today. Thank you for the questions and have a great week!
