Amy Nelson (9:28 AM)
We'll start the chat at 10 a.m. ET with Your Take on First Take!
The Suits (Bristol)
Amy, it's 10! Where are you? We can't be late!
Amy Nelson (10:02 AM)
Hey everyone
Amy Nelson (10:02 AM)
Stephen A is here, and he's informed me that he's not feeling the love from me and you...
Amy Nelson (10:02 AM)
So I told him we'd dedicate the chat tohim today, since, you know, he clearly isn't getting enough love enough at it is
Amy Nelson (10:03 AM)
so OTHER than that, who wants to talk eagles steelrs, what else?
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
How can Stephen A say that? He needs to chat with us more.
Pete (Canada)
Amy....What is your prediction for the Superbowl
Amy Nelson (10:03 AM)
I'm going with whatever Lil Wayne says ... he went 4-for-4 last week!
Chris, East Lansing
Didn't Stephen A get enough love from Pacman and Lawyer Guy to last him for awhile?
Amy Nelson (10:04 AM)
Hah, good question. I don't know if there was a wholel otta love. But Pacman seemed amused
Bill (Boston)
Ravens steelers I think
David (Orland Park)
all say this. Very good follow up interview with Pac Man Jones.
Kev (NYC)
Didn't A get enough love from Pacman?
Philp (Philly)
Eagles are going to the SB. Cardinals may have enjoyed the ride they're on right now, but they are going to face the best D in the NFC.
Amy Nelson (10:05 AM)
I'll tell you this much: I would love to see Philly there, because I'm on the McNabb bandwagon. I think he desrves a ring
Adam (Tampa, FL)
How about Kurt Warner is better than Brett Favrrrre right Stephen A
TIm (Detroit)
Wait..did someone just predict a Ravens Steelers Super Bowl?
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Man, how can anyone not love the Cinderella story that is the Arizona Cardinals? I'm pulling for Cards/Steelers, myself.
nick youngstown ohio
skip you da man!!!!!!!!!!!11
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
How about Cardinals and Ravens Amy? Let's give some love to ALL of the teams playing Sunday.
sal (ROANOKE)
HI Amy do u think anyone really has a shot to beat the steelers? their defense with or without polamalu is ridiculous
Amy Nelson (10:08 AM)
being at home is ALWAYS an advantage, especially when they close that roof. but...
Jordo Bangor, Pa
Please tell me my Bert Blyleven did not get in the Hall. He deserved it as much as Ricky Henderson.
Amy Nelson (10:10 AM)
I think the word "deserev" is misued. Who are we to judge who desrves anything? Clearly the voters are still split on Blyleven
James (Cheyenne)
It's going to be a Pennsylvania year. First the Phillies win the series, and now it's looking like Philly and Pittsburgh are going to clash in the Super Bowl!
Roger Goodell (NYC)
No one wants to see a Ravens-Cards Super Bowl. I will NOT happen. I will see to that. Just don't tell anyone I told you...
Amy Nelson (10:10 AM)
Thanks comissh
Ryan ((Washington, D.C.))
The steelers have owned the ravens the whole season, but it is hard to beata team 3 times. Pitt-24 Balt-17
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
If we are complaining about Blyleven being left out we should also complain about Tommy John being left out. He won 288 games, had an ERA of 3.34, and had a surgery named after him for God's sake.
Amy Nelson (10:11 AM)
having a surgery named after you does not get you into the hall
tony albany , ny
players dont deserve anything....donovan needsa to earn his ring...his last chance he completely ran out of gas on his team.....he needs to prove himself this time around
Adrienne (Amarillo, TX)
Hello Amy!
Roland, DC
Just wanted 2 say wassup 2 Stephen A. Luved the Pacman interview.
Jeremey(Louisville)
The best D, the Cardinals have given up the least amount of yards of the four teams left.
Jason (Valdosta,Ga)
I think the Ravens have the best shot to win it all. Flacco makes very few mistakes, they have the deep threat they've been missing the past couple seasons, and the defense is close to that of the 2000 SB team.
Kev (NYC)
The only satisfaction remaining from this season involves McNabb choking once again and throwing 3 INTs in the Super Bowl and all the thankless Philly fans wanting him out of town
Amy Nelson (10:12 AM)
hah! lemme guess, you root for the giants?
John (Oswego, IL)
Ravens are too beat up from the Titans game. They are going to loose. If Boldin plays, the Cards have a chance. If not, it will be much harder for the Cards to get by the Eagles.
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
I mean, can you imagine what it must feel like, getting 14 straight 'no' votes before finally getting in? Wouldn't that kinda be... not-fun?
Amy Nelson (10:14 AM)
yes, but are you his brother or son or something? it happens. look at rice.
Adrienne (Amarillo, TX)
I hope Stephen A. whoops Skip this morning.
Jay (NY)
Stephen A better whoop Skip after I saw Skip say McGwire and Bonds deserve to be in the hall yesterday during his live chat, c'mon Skip..really?
hank (steeler fan in Texas)
Who is Stephen A. and Skip taking in the games this weekend?
Amy Nelson (10:16 AM)
they'll be saying later i'm sure
Ryan (Washington, D.C.)
McNabb better win or else he will be gone. Philly fans hate him, but his team only has him and Westbrook.
Jeremey(Louisville)
Three straight in the same year we will see.
Mike (Team Mixi) (Mixiland)
McNabb's gonna probably be gone anyway.
Dane (Tampa)
Flacco is wacko. I can't buy into a QB that shows no emotion on field at all.
Tony albany , ny
Mcnabb is a solid qb, he is not as good as everyone makes him out to be....he will not win the superbowl this year...strphen a stop making excuses for mcnabb its sad
Chad (Des Moines)
I'm with Stephen A. The Cards proved they have no class and should be fined or lose a draft pick for going Manny the last 5 weeks of the season.
Zack (spring, tx)
These confercene championship games have the four best safeies Wilson, Reed,Dawkins, and Polamalu now that's the leaders of these defenses.
Amy Nelson (10:19 AM)
good point
Pete (Canada)
Eagles will crash land and so will McNabb
Chris, East Lansing
Pittsburgh has the most pressure to face. Not only going up against the toughest defense left to play, but they are also the only favorite left in the playoffs. They are the only clock left to strike midnight on a cinderella team. Tomlin gets it done, though.
Amy Nelson (10:22 AM)
Stephen A seemed please that he could get some love...i think he wants more. I dont think it will ever be enough
Jeremey(Louisville)
Stephen A. is right about T.O. he justs wants to win, so sometimes he is bi-polar.
Ryan ((Washington, D.C.))
It is because Stephen A doesn't like that Favre has been playing for too long.
Mike (AZ)
I'm suprised to see first takes poll showing the 2nd most anticipated super bowl matchup involves the Cardinals! Are we turning into americas cinderella?
Jordo Bangor, Pa
Stephen A better calm himself! He is insane!
Amy Nelson (10:23 AM)
Jordo, have you ever seen him on the air?
Colleen (Pittsburgh)
The Ravens cannot and will not beat the Steelers this Sunday. Ray Lewis talks tought, but idiots like Bayless forget how tough the Steelers defense can be. Flacco doesn't stand a chance.
Dave (Pittsburgh)
Hi Amy - please tell Skip and the rest of first and 10 that the Steelers have been in 7 games were they beat that team twice before that season and THEY HAVE WON ALL 7!!!!! It WILL happen again, write it down:)
Amy Nelson (10:24 AM)
Dave, So you're saying that seven times before, the Steelers have gone into the third game of the season against eh same team, and having won the first two, all seven times they win the third?
Mike (Team Mixi) (Mixiland-I Miss Those Days station)
Disagree Colleen, the Ravens should win. They've been without a bye since 4 months ago!
JR (nyc)
Stephen A...sometimes you have opinions I don't agree with... HOWEVER You da man!
brian (sandusky, ohio)
Stepthen A. Loves him some him! LOL!
T.J., Presidio texas
Going back to the beating a team 3 times... Last year the cowboys down played that when they faced the Giants but i really think in the same way it will motivate the Ravens it motivated the Giants....
Rich (Pawtucket, RI)
Stephen A begging for love, what's up with that !
Amy Nelson (10:25 AM)
Should that really surprise you?
mike sarasota, fl
Please tell me they aren't going to talk about Lebron again.. When will D Howard and my Orlando magic get some national love?? You take him off our team we are in far more trouble then the Cavs!!!
PATRICK: AUSTIN TX
WHATS UP, AMY Stephen A IS RIGHT ABOUT T.O. AND SKIP ALWAYS HATIN ON AND T.O.,LEBRON JAMES AND A.I.WHY IS THAT ?
Roland DC
T/O is still 1 of the 10 best receivers n the game. I think he just wants 2 win and sumtimes he just spazzes out
Kase (Buffalo, NY)
Mike, Absolutely the cardinals are america's cinderella. Everyone was saying they didn't deserve to be in the playoffs now they have a chance be in the superbowl. What is better than that?
Amy Nelson (10:28 AM)
i think philly's gonna win, though i dont think all this attention on mcnabb and it being "their" year is good.
David (Orland Park)
Dont know if someone said this cuz im behind on the chat. Skip said bonds in mark out. cuz bonds was a hall of famer before roids mark wasnt
Amy Nelson (10:28 AM)
skip said that yesterday. i say neither gets in...
Jake (n.o., la.)
Stephen A. seems to be good friends with T.O, he needs to help his boy grow up....
Ely (Norwalk, California)
Donovan is a future Hall of Famer. He should leave after this season no matter what happens philly is the city of brotherly love, Mcnabb is getting no love
Zack (spring, TX)
I watch Skip and Stephen A. all the time battle and I know you guys have a lot of love and respect for each other. I think Stephen A. is the only who can battle Skip everytime and has won more battles over Skip in my opinion.
Jeremey(Louisville, KY.)
Can't stand the Wildcats, but love Jodie Meeks, i find myself rooting for him.
Amy Nelson (10:31 AM)
Jeremy, You sound like a journalist! That's what we do, we wind up rooting for good guys or good storylines.
Roland DC
Amy, who do you like this weekend?
Amy Nelson (10:32 AM)
eagles and steelers. and i'm not confident in my steelers pick AT ALL. but you gotta stick with what you say. i'm no lil wayne, thats for sure.
Amy Nelson (10:32 AM)
btw, heard a rumor he might be calling in his picks the end of this week. we'll see...
Ryan ((Washington, D.C.))
I think Tomlinson should get traded. Sproles is great, and LT is aging
Amy Nelson (10:32 AM)
he has 4 years left. that's crazy to me.
Adrienne (Amarillo, TX)
Donovan is a punk. They guy waits to play good until he gets benched and his job is in jeopardy. He should play well the whole year. The guy didn't even know there were ties in the NFL!!
Jeremey(Louisville)
I don't think McNabb will leave Philly on his own they will have to get rid of him.
brian (sandusky, ohio)
I personally think Mark Mcgwire will be another 15 year wait Hall of Famer. eventually enough "Steroid Era" Players will retire and he will be in, along with Bonds.
Amy Nelson (10:34 AM)
not me. gotta disagree. i don't have a vote (need 10 years in the BBAWW) but if i did, id vote for him. i'd vote for all steroid (or thought to be steroid) users. it was the ERA.
Amy Nelson (10:34 AM)
and...ready...to...get...slammed...
StreakMaster (Bristol)
Lil wayne may have picked the games straight up but not against the spread!! Haha I am still the greatest!
nick youngstown ohio
nope i say its lil wayne and he stays so calm all the time to unlike stephen a who practically has to jump out of his chair everytime
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
If McNabb is smart, he'll force Philly to ditch him. That way he gets to play the sympathy card.
Amy Nelson (10:34 AM)
totally agree
Ray (Baltimore)
Trading Tomlinson would be the dumbest move of the off season.
Kevin (Watertown, NY)
I think LT will be another Barry Sanders story. He wont be traded but he will retire randomly when he realizes the Superbowl just isnt in his future.
Amy Nelson (10:34 AM)
that's an interesting theory.
Frank (Traverse City, Mi)
Stephen. You say that leadership comes from the top down. But veterans are suppose to bring leadership to the table. Chris Carter, Rod Smith to name a few were recievers who were leaders and role models for teamates as well as the community. Were is that trate in TO
T.J. , Presidio Texas
I totally agree with Stephen A's stance on T.O....I think it is pathetic that people will allow guys to say "T.O. affects they way i do my job" its sad you know what you get with T.O. but you should be a professional (you get paid enough)and DO YOUR JOB!!!!
Nate (Atl Ga)
Amy, Why didnt my question post?
Amy Nelson (10:35 AM)
we get hundres and thousands of comments, i post only those i deem totally awesome. or totally absurd. or whatever i see in a hot second.
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Amy - I can see that. if you're gonna vote for one steroid-player, you have to vote for all of 'em. As long as you're consistent, well, I don't see a problem.
John (Chicago, IL)
It was the steroid era, yes, but that's no excuse for cheating. Players who seek out other means of performance enhancement are taking away from those who have competed naturally all along. Bonds and McGuire should NOT be in the hall of fame
Amy Nelson (10:36 AM)
i'll just say this. there were TONS of players who took 'em, never got caught, and have NEVER been publicly linked to them. and i bet you, there will be plenty going into the hall who fit that profile. so in my mind, i say we let everyone with the numebrs in.
Mike(Morgantown, PA)
I hate the fact that McGwire used steroids but he should be in the HOF because if it weren't for him and Sosa and Bonds, baseball might not be where it's at after the lockout in the late 90's. They helped revive baseball and deserve the HOF.
Amy Nelson (10:37 AM)
i dont agree with that. either you have the numebrs or you don't. if they helped revive baseball, ok they did, but doesnt mean they should be in the hall.
Ryan (Washington, D.C.)
I think Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame. He may have made a few bets, but he was a fantastic baseball player.
Amy Nelson (10:37 AM)
totally agree.
Kevin (Watertown, NY)
I think "steroid era" players should be voted in. Who's to say that some of the people in the Hall of Fame right now didnt cheat? No one knows the whole truth
Amy Nelson (10:38 AM)
that's my point.
Rick M (Detroit)
I truly hope that you post my comment on 1st and 10 about Stephen A. His columns are tremendous, and they have made a world of difference to ESPN the Magazine!
Dave-Erie,PA
Amy please pass this on to Stephen A. Although i understand your concern for Mr.Tomlin, if you love what he's done with our Stiller team this year, then you should have all the more confidence that they can get this done again, even more so than the last. I will be the first to say, Steelers win by 10 or more!
Chris, East Lansing
Trading LT would be the best move of the off-season, especially if they can get some value for him (draft picks or talent) He turned 30 and there is a pretty strong bell curve of productivity that doesn't favor 31. Plus, who wants a franchise player who never plays in the playoff games?
Amy Nelson (10:39 AM)
but i dont think sproles is the answer. i hate that, one amazing game does not make a no. 1 featured back. no?
Ray (Baltimore)
Why are we willing to punish players for the steroid era, but leave the owners and organizations who turned a blind eye for the profit receives none?
Amy Nelson (10:39 AM)
the question that will forever remain unanswered
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Do I think Rose belogs in the HOF for what he did on the field? Yes. Am I bothered that he isn't in the HOF? No way.
brian (sandusky, ohio)
Wow, Steelers by 10? Thats a bold prediction!
Tim (Detroit)
Why do TO's teammates have to be professional while he whines about secret alliances. TO has the best chance of winning if he keeps quiet. Justifying his antics with claims he just wants to win are silly.
Steve (Phoenix, AZ)
The Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl...Lil Wayne will pick the Cards this week and they'll win just like last week!
John (Oswego, IL)
LT was a very good back. Some could argue that he was among the best. But his inability to stay healthy in the playoffs, in my eyes, keeps him out of the top tier. If you can't be there for your team at crunch time, you can't be considered great.
Dan (Wisconsin)
Someone has had their question posted 3-4 times? I just want to know if anyone out there is giving my Cardinals a chance.
Ray (Baltimore)
Top players of the era should be voted into the HOF. Maybe we should take the vote out of the writers hands as stated earlier on Mike and Mike.
Amy Nelson (10:41 AM)
totally disagree with that. keep it the way it is.
Ralph (NY Kid)
No luv for Stephen A... Maybe he needs to call a friend for some luv. Skip may have some for him today.
Mike (AZ)
If Warner wins another Super Bowl this year, is he a shoe in for the HOF? He will be the only QB to do it with 2 different teams right?
Alby (Springfield, il)
if the chargers would have traded LT last offseason and kept micheal turner they would have been geniuses! Running backs are dime a dozen, if you can get anything for one get it
Steve (North Pole, AK)
These HOF arguments are pointless. It's simple, you get the numbers, you go in the hall. So easy!
RolandDC
Sproles only got 10 yards last week. Cmon man he aint the answer
Mike (Team Mixi) (Mixiland-I Miss Those Days station)
Eagles will win by 37 points.
Amy Nelson (10:43 AM)
yeah, ok!
Phoenix (Sioux Falls, SD)
Yeah, the Cardinals will be going to the superbowl...after they buy tickets!
Kevin (Texas)
Yes LeBron is the MVP. Now, back to football!
moon (dirty jersey)
can you tell stephen A that he is the best dressed man on TV. looks like he smells good
Amy Nelson (10:44 AM)
creepy comment of the morning!
phil (jamestown, ny)
d.howard mvp, without him, orlando is nothing!
Dave-Erie,PA
My prediction is based off of everyone's bandwagon thinking about Flacco. He is going to come to Pittsburgh, remember this is the only second time they are coming to the burgh, and it's playoff atmosphere. Flacco chokes. 3 interceptions and with the numero uno defense, one will be takin' back to the house. YES, steelers by ten or more.
Jay (Orlando)
Has Stephen A. ever been wrong?? Not in his mind
Joe (Milwaukee)
I think Stephen A Smith would make a good sports agent he is good at getting his point across
Amy Nelson (10:45 AM)
hmmm i'll have to ask him about that...
Corey S. (Georgia)
The king is exactly who we thought he was. Lets go ahead and crown him MVP
Ryan (San Diego)
As a charger fan there is no way I want to see LT in another uniform. However, as a football decision it is necessary to get his cap number down so that they may extend other key players like Rivers, Vincent Jackson and Sproles
Mike(Morgantown, PA)
Chris Paul should have won it last year and he WILL win it this year!
Matthew (Glendale, AZ
Stephen is quickly becoming one of my favorite sports analyst and writer's, but come on give my Cardinals some love. The beat the Falcons and they not only beat the panthers but spanked them so bad that they went home and cried to their mommies.
Mike (AZ)
Stephen A. is good at waving his arms around and being loud without actually making any good points whatsoever
Amy Nelson (10:49 AM)
c'mon mike, this is the stephen a love fest this morning!
Ray (Baltimore)
I see Pacman talk is coming up cant wait.
brian (sandusky, ohio)
I can't wait to talk about Plaque Man Jones! Everything that builds up on this guy is ALWAYS REALLY BAD!
Kevin (Texas)
Stephen A and Skip are the perfect match for this show. i like lil wayne but he was wayyy too mellow
Ray (Baltimore)
He (pacman) is to ESPN as Britney Spears is to every other media outlet. He'll always be a story.
David (Orland Park)
what a morning. Got Amy, mortamur and mel kiper. Ill never get anything done today
Amy Nelson (10:53 AM)
clearly i should be the priority
Lil Wayne (Cloud 9)
Hey, I was on the show?....I must have had some good stuff that day
Ryan (Washington, D.C.)
Amy, do you think the Cowboys should fire Wade Phillips?
Amy Nelson (10:54 AM)
YES, i mean, there seems to be little repsect left for the man. time for a change.
nick youngstown ohio
that is what i love is his mellowness that is awesome and he is dead on with his predictions and his comments
Rich (Pawtucket, RI)
I think Mellow is better than LOUD :p
Taylor (Pottstown, PA)
Lil' Wayne had some really good points though, he didn't need to jump and yell like Steven A. I was surprised that Skip didn't rip into him more though.
Amy Nelson (10:54 AM)
you know ithought he had some really good poibnts, and he was the only one whjo went 4-for-4 in his NFL picks. some people complained he didnt know what he ws talkign about. i have to absolutely disagree with that.
Steiny (NYC)
Hey Amy, how are you today?
Amy Nelson (10:55 AM)
freezing. do you guys know how cold it is here? car said 14 this morning. awful.
Mixi (Team Mixi) (Mixiland (I Miss Those Days station))
Hey Amy, Mike's friend Mixi here. I think the Eagles will win the Super Bowl! Westbrook's the MVP and Reid gets a 5-year extension. But McNabb will leave anyway.
Chris (Richmond. VA)
The Eagles are going to the desert and they are going to get the job done. Their defense has been flying around making plays, and the offense has also been doing their job. HERE WE COME CARDS, YOU BETTER GET READY!!!
James (Toms River, NJ)
I like Howie Long. Except for the host of the Fox pre-games show. He seems to be the only one without brain damage sometime.
Amy Nelson (10:56 AM)
hard to argue with that.
Phoenix (Sioux Falls, SD)
No coach at dallas will get the respect owed. Jerry Jones is too much of a micromanager. Dallas will turn into the Raiders.
Rick M (Detroit)
Skip was smart not to rip on Lil Wayne. The dude looks like The Predator... only the Governator would mess with him!
James (Cheyenne)
Lil Wayne showed up prepared for the show
Mike (AZ)
Amy, what do you think about the Cardinals expanding the stadium and selling an extra 7,000 tickets only at the stadium yesterday...will that make a difference come Sunday?
Ryan (Washington, D.C.)
I personally think that the Cowboys should go after Bill Cowher or Mike Shanahan.
Jake (N.O., La.)
LIL Wayne is a stand up guy.....
James (Toms River, NJ)
McNabb is going to stay. He knows what he has in Andy Reid. A coach that loves to throw the ball. Mixi please stop listening to the media when it comes to McNabb. Look at the way they blew the whole phone thing out of porportion. They were all "what does it mean?" It meant here's a guy just having some fun.
Amy Nelson (11:02 AM)
so up next stephen a will b e talking about pacman, what do you guys think? what did you think of the interview?
Amy Nelson (11:02 AM)
so up next stephen a will b e talking about pacman, what do you guys think? what did you think of the interview?
Adam (Tampa, FL)
I thought the interview was fantastic and very well done by Stephen A. I got a good sense of where Pacman is at in his life and I came to the conclusion that he is still drinking and doesn't care too much about anyone but himself. I mean come on, are you kidding me he didn't even know what year we were in.
Mike (AZ)
Its playoff football and we are talking about Pacman...my thought: Who cares about Pacman
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
I think the Pacman interview was a terrible mistake...especially since he was accompanied by his lawyer.
James (Cheyenne)
Great interview Steven A! Need to do a follow up where you jump on him like you do Skip
Jake (N.O., La.)
Good interview, still dont know how much of Pacman is believable....he was in wrestling, may be a good act......
Abe Rushford MN
Amy Amy if you think 14 is cold i invite you to come on over to MN where its -20today. Colleges are still open should be closed its way too cold to be walking outside.
Amy Nelson (11:05 AM)
ugh
Tim(Central Fla)
Bret Michaels is the biggest poser I've ever seen in my life.Figures he's a Steelers fan.
Dre (Richmond, Ca)
Pacman has been in way too much trouble, but I think that the guy in jail is lying on pacman to get a deal.
Pat (Chicago)
I saw Steven A with Pacman in Club Blaze
Amy Nelson (11:06 AM)
don;t think so, but that was funny
jamie (Scottsdale, AZ)
Stephan is so East Coast and actually talks more than Skip. However, here is why the Cards will win: Revenge, Home, and they (now) are a better team. It should be ashoot-out.
James (Toms River, NJ)
I honestly don't care about Pacman anymore. He's just an average player anymore with an above average criminal record. I don't care if he plays for another team or not.
Albert (Jersey)
Less Pacman, more Marvin Harrison. Now that's an in-depth interview I'd like to see.
Amy Nelson (11:07 AM)
intersting how that hasn't been covered much, huh?
T.J. , Presidio Texas
I think Stephen A did as good a job as he could...it is tough to get true answers especially with an Attorney in the room...Pacman down plays his past and doesnt realize how unbelievable he sounds...
Rick M (Detroit)
Bret Michaels should just create another show and name the thing what it really is: "Rock of Please Give More Attention to a Washed Up Recording Artist". Seriously, the guy needs to go away.
Max (Butler, PA)
Ha, I don't know about that, Bret Michaels went to my highschool, and we are all Steelers fans
Amy Nelson (11:08 AM)
i think jon ritchie grew up near him
Adrienne (Amarillo, TX)
I wonder if Roger Goodell regrets reinstating Adam Jones. I even guessed that Pacman would just get into more trouble by looking at his history. Once a criminal always a criminal.
Amy Nelson (11:09 AM)
that's something i'll ask stephean a
Scotty (Searcy, AR)
Amy, I saw YOU with pacman in club blaze.
Amy Nelson (11:09 AM)
shhhh!
Pat (Chicago)
Interesting how the Matt Jones story just faded away as well
Amy Nelson (11:09 AM)
yep
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
The one person who's truly guilty is Pacman's attorney for wearing an awful hairpiece
Taylor (Pottstown, PA)
Well Marvin Harrison is coming to the forefront again now that the police have another credible witness finally. It seems like they would like a big PR buzz by nailing him with some real charges.
Steve (Phoenix, AZ)
The Cardinals are going to win with or without Boldin!
Chad (Des Moines)
Why is it that everyone talks about Baltimore when they talk about defense? I seem to remember the Steel Curtain invented defense when the Ravens were wtill the Browns.
Jason (Cleveland Ohio)
I couldnt agree more with Stephan A. Lebron hands down is the mvp. Tell skip to go play checkers with T.O. and Romo!
Amy Nelson (11:15 AM)
skip said he doesn't play checkers
slugga (prison)
im gonna make it rain bullets. Now how do i get outta here.
Amy Nelson (11:15 AM)
think you're in there for awhile. btw, a friend of mine said slugga kind of looks like pharrel. i totally disagree. thoughts?
phil (jamestown, ny)
it must be terrific to be a pro athelete. amy would you still have your job at espn if you had multiple arrests/brushes with the law?
Amy Nelson (11:16 AM)
are you kidding? igot a huge rap sheet. pffffft
Pete (NC) [via laptop]
I'm sick of all the negative stories. How about covering Steve Smith writing a $25k check to a local HS marching band so they could attend the Inauguration Parade. Now that is a newsworty story!
Mark (NJ)
Hey Amy, where are my props? Look up last weeks chat where I picked the Cards to beat the Panthers. Yeah I am the " 1 " person who did. I want props!
Brian (Altoona)
Skip isn't intelligent enough to play checkers!
Amy Nelson (11:16 AM)
ooooh. snap
Rick M (Detroit)
Chad... the past is the past. Those Browns didn't have Ray-Ray, Reed, Suggs, Ngata, etc. Both teams have a dominating defense, and it's essentially wash when you talk about their greatness.
Kevin (Texas)
Let Pacman play with the lions!
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
They're good, but the Ravens rely of turnovers. Those can come and go.
Dre (Richmond, Ca)
The AFC championship game will just as good as the super bowl.
Amy Nelson (11:20 AM)
maybe even better
Ely (Norwalk, California)
YOU could tell Stephen is biased on this issue, he wants to defend Pac Man even though it is obvious that Pac Man is hanging around thugs and gansters its like the saying goes tell me who you hang with and ill tell who you are, Nobody should give Pac Man another chance, Stephen A. for what ever reason looked in skip's eye and could tell that he knew in his heart Pac Man had somehting to do with ordering a hit on those people. but Stephen A. wants to be his brother's keeper.
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Oh, come on. Pioli's loss is huge - but it's not the end of an era. It's not like Pioli didn't have a good staff to work with him and no one will be able to step into his shoes.
Amy Nelson (11:20 AM)
i think it's always dangerous to attribute too much credit to a front office official. most times, teams are able to move on and still compete and do well.
Albert (Jersey)
Slugga actually looks exactly like Shyne. Coincidentally, Shyne also shot up a club (for disrespecting P Diddy in his case.)
Amy Nelson (11:21 AM)
sort of. more like shyne than pharrel
Kev (NYC)
Amy, will Sanchez go pro?
Amy Nelson (11:21 AM)
good question ... heard it's still up in the air.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
You just got bumped from the main page for Mort, Amy. I thought you had pull with the World Wide Leader.
Amy Nelson (11:22 AM)
whatever! i'm the underground. people who know what's up come here. let mort have his mainstream success.
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Whoa, chat interface changed on me.
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Mort! Curse you, mortensen!
T.J., Presidio TEXAS
Stephen Curry is the purest shooter i have ever seen he should not be a point guard and most likley wont be in the NBA
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
a good front office is really important however. Most coaches don't have Bellichecks amount of power. Shanahan did, but not many anymore.
Boug(johnstown ny)
amy i heard fhm called u for a cover and an 8 page spread is that true
Amy Nelson (11:25 AM)
yeah, toooootally. next month.
Amy Nelson (11:25 AM)
oh wait, fhm no longer exists. maybe that's why!
Patrick (Harmony TN)
Amy did you get weezy's autograph or were you too scared?
Amy Nelson (11:26 AM)
no dont really believe in autographs. but we took a picture. i found the whole exchange funny. you cant take life too seriously.
Ralph (Orland Park Illinois)
I agree with you Amy. If you have the numbers you should be in the HOF. Who can really tell if someone is using. I believe they all do whatever they can to play better. Even Goose Gossage said if he had this during his time he would have taken it.
William G. Columbia, SC
Stephen is WRONG! Stephen is a pure gunner that is highly incapable of being a true point in the NBA. Meeks is not just a one-dimensional JJ Reddick type player. He also can pass and rebound and has a tremendous physique for the guard position.
Jeremey(Louisville, KY.)
Stephen A. i disagree meeks is bigger and stronger, and doesn't just look to shoot, and check there roster and point production, sorry it's not the UK of old.
joey (chicago, IL)
I think that Skip is right on this one. I think Meeks has a better upside, and athletic ability. Curry will make a good pro, but he will get abused in the league by the bigger gaurds if you try to use him as a #2.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
If I didn't show up for a chat, would you notice? More importantly, would you care?
Amy Nelson (11:27 AM)
johnny, why the hate?
Mike & Mixi [Team Mixi] (Mixiland:I Miss Those Days Station)
Amy, Mixi asked me that she has never heard of you and asks how long you have been working for ESPN.com
Amy Nelson (11:28 AM)
a tag team chatter? that's a first...been with the company 5 years covering baseball, most recently for espn.com. this is my once-a-week sidejob.
Mark (Waldorf,MD)
Skip is right...Meeks will make a better 2 guard at the next level than curry will make a 1 guard. Meeks has the body and scoring ability to be very efficient in the NBA. How could Stephen A. MYTH disagree with Skip when he helped Naismith create the game of basketball?
jay (tallahassee, fl)
steph curry is a pure scorer not just a shooter and looks like he is still growing, with the guidance of an NBA dad!!!
Patrick (Harmony TN)
what's the deal with everyone kissing up to Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless is my hero, and the reason I'm going into sports writing, Stephen looks like an angry muppet. GO SKIP
Amy Nelson (11:30 AM)
oh Patrick, that one is a strong contender to be read on the air.
mikey. philly,pa
amy u dont know baseball, my 5 year old son knows more then you do
Amy Nelson (11:30 AM)
whoo hoo! i'm feeling the love. you know what you're right. i don't kow anything about baseball.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
Stephen isn't an angry muppet. He's just opinionated and animated.
Mark (NJ)
I wonder if Favre will leave the Jets & go to the Vikings. Yes, thats my next prediction.
David Orland Park
another orland park poster. Harrison's brewery=best place to eat in Orland
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
You're 5 year old doens't know anything. He probably still thinks you're the greatest guyt in the world.
Brad (Olean, NY)
Stephen A always beats skip on 1st and 10 all the time from Lebron to TO. Skip better be taking notes when Stephen A is talking
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Stephen A. is one of the only guys on 1st and 10 that doesn't let Skip steamroll him. The man deserves props.
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Amy - how do you feel about Smoltz' new job with the Red Sox? I'm thrilled about it, personally, it's a low-risk, high-upside roll of the dice for Boston.
Amy Nelson (11:32 AM)
great movem, great guy. i know atlanta fans (what ther are of you) are very upset abotu this.
Sean (Seattle)
Amy, don't worry about Mike (Philly. Philadelphia is the ugliest city in the US if that makes you feel any better.
Amy Nelson (11:32 AM)
i don't lose any sleep, if that's what your're saying.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Pitchers and catchers report in 30 days Amy. That should put a smile on your face.
Amy Nelson (11:33 AM)
no, it means my life is over until next novemebr.
Matt Laramie, WY
Why chat if nothing you say is ever posted? The same people seem to be posted all the time.
Amy Nelson (11:34 AM)
not on purpose., just depends what i see on my screen at any given time.
James (Toms River, NJ)
Any guy who still calls himself Mikey, shouldn't have children.
Boug(johnstown ny)
Tell stephen a he better give the magic love they are def a legitamate team to make the finals
Phoenix (Sioux Falls, SD)
Amy - Did you used to play any sports back in the day?
Amy Nelson (11:35 AM)
lacrosse was my game. and thanks for referring to it as "back in the day"
Mike (AZ)
Say something relevant and you will get posted...or possibly something laced with distain and sarcasm
Amy Nelson (11:35 AM)
not a bad call.
James (Toms River, NJ)
Sean, it rains 364 days a year in Seattle, and Philadelphia is an ugly city?
Amy Nelson (11:35 AM)
i think he meant the people.
Kevin (Texas)
Back in the day!!! She looks about 22 years old! Still playin i bet
Amy Nelson (11:36 AM)
anyone who says i look 22, well, there's a reason why i posted you.
Phoenix (Sioux Falls, SD)
Amy - I mean no offence. Everyone has there "glory days"
Amy Nelson (11:37 AM)
oh im just givin gyou a hard time. it's my sense of humor,. not very funny and defintly doesnt translate.
David Orland Park
having a hard time picturing you playing lacrosse. way to go Amy your obviously tougher than you look
Amy Nelson (11:38 AM)
i was the goon, the enforcer. defense allt he way.
Pete (NC) [via laptop]
Amy is there any way to watch First Take online? No tv at my office.
Amy Nelson (11:38 AM)
no sorry.
James (Toms River, NJ)
Here's a relevant sports question. Tebow stays... Good decision?
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Lacrosse is a scary sport. I played soccer "back in the day" and lacrosse players scare me. I always felt like they were three seconds away from mauling me. :)
Spelling Police
Phoenix, thats 2 minutes in the penalty box for 'offence'
Matt (Laramie, WY)
I was knocked out playing Lacrosse and in return I knocked a guys tooth out... you don't take as many shots in Lacrosse as football but the shots you take are harder.
Chris, East Lansing
Great decision for Tebow. He can remain in the national spotlight for a year and develop his passing game. There is always injury risk but, I think he has an opportunity to jump 2 rounds with a progressive season. And, oh by the way, let's do it again the defense is coming back too!
James (Toms River, NJ)
I think Tebow should have entered the draft. He's got nothing left to prove in college. I think he isn't ready to give up the Superman cape he wears in the swamp.
Amy Nelson (11:42 AM)
sstay, seems most peole agree your game won't transalte well over to the pros
Dre (Charlotte, NC)
I totally agree with Stephen A. Skip, Can you even name two other players on Davidson's roster outside of Stephen Curry? He does more with less. Skip always finds a way to hate on someone.
Albert (Jersey)
I like Stephen Curry but the guy looks like a freshman...in high school. I'm not sure if he'll ever get his man- strength and be able to absorb the contact in the lane in the pros.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
Curry will be an awful pro unless he puts on some weight. I mean Iverson is a once in a lifetime small guy who can score at will.
James (Toms River, NJ)
I don't think that he's going to learn to be a pro in college though. He should use the year on the bench to watch and learn the pro game. He's an athlete, and that always transfers well.
Tim(Central Fla)
Amy,as a longtime Braves fan I am kinda sad to see Smoltz go.But I know it's a baseball move. It's hard to ask him to lead a staff.his body just can't take the abuse for a whole season anymore and he only has 2 speeds so he won't tone it down any. He'll fit great on the Redsox though where they can pace him and then have him for the playoffs especially.
Chris, East Lansing
Curry has 3 inches on Iverson (listed)
Jeremey(Louisville)
Curry could not even guard iverson.
Shawn C. (Leominster, MA)
Cards by 10? I like the Cards in that game, but Amare, you're no Lil' Wayne.
Rocky (Great Falls, MT)
so with 3 hall of fame coaches coming back next year what teams will keep their "lame duck" coach for 1 more year just in hopes of snaging 1 of these guys? Dallas? Jacksonville? Kansas City?
Christina (Sharon Hill, PA)
Skip always says the right things to get Stephen A Smith worked up... He knows he can get to Stephen A because he is bitter that Skip didn't feature him in is Skip Hop rap video.
Mark (NJ)
Is it just me or does STephen A always seem angry?
Amy Nelson (11:54 AM)
He just needs love! Can't you see?
Chris, East Lansing
That's not anger, that's enthusiasm.
Mixi (Mixiland:I Miss Those Days Station)
James, my friend Jazmin is also from Toms River. Anyway, I think Curry won't be a great NBA player like J.J. Redick
David Orland Park
Nice job as always Amy. Stay classy sports nation
Chad (Des Moines, IA)
It's amazing how full Arizona's bandwagon is getting, what with how empty it was their first HOME playoff game!
Amy Nelson (11:55 AM)
totally agree with you there. so then what happens? they'll lose, rigth?
Amy Nelson (11:56 AM)
ok guys we're gonna wrap it up now. thanks to everyone for yoru comments and for teh stephen a lovefest.
