We've got Walshy!
Christian, Lancaster PA
Hey Walsh, what are your predictions for the upcoming Meadowlands? Who do you think will place top 2?
Walshy (4:03 PM)
As for our own team, I expect us to place in the top 2. As for the other teams, it's hard to predict with all of the roster changes.
Carlton/Montreal/Canada
Dave, Do you offten play alone in matchmaking with randoms? or sometime? or hardly?
Walshy (4:03 PM)
I do a decent amount. I've been playing under some fake tags. Once in a while I am playing by myself.
Brian Wanat (Connecticut)
Hey Dave! You and Mason are two of the smartest players in the game what are you two taking from each other?
Walshy (4:04 PM)
Mason is teaching me a lot about the game, about being more sneaky. I think I've been introducing him about what our goals are and what to do in certain situations.
Surly (Novato, CA)
Sorry to pick at an old scab but how is it that you, as the captain of Final Boss, the heart and soul of Final Boss, the player that was associated most with Final Boss, was booted from Final Boss? Weren't *you* Final Boss? Have you guys mended fences since then or are you just over it?
Walshy (4:05 PM)
Me and Strongside are as good of friends as we always were. I think it was just a conflict between myself and the group. Things will just heal over time at some point and at some point we'll have that conversation.
Anderson (Toronto, Ontario)
How do you feel about people dismissing competitive gaming as a sport?
Walshy (4:06 PM)
Everyone who is involved in competitive gaming knows that there is strategy, skill, time involved in it. I would rather not have it discussed as a sport, but just have it talked about as a skill. Hopefully we can just be accepted as a skillful activity. People have the same arguments about poker.
Matt (Williams County, Ohio)
Do you feel MLG should provide an event closer to your hometown for the 09 season? Possibly Detroit or Chicago.
Walshy (4:06 PM)
Why not MLG Grand Rapids?
Hunter (Sanford, Maine)
How did you find out about MLG, and what steps did you have to take to start competing?
Walshy (4:07 PM)
I first was involved in some other leagues before that collapsed. Around that time there was some buzz about MLG. I attended one of their events and they're the league that's still around today.
T.Heffernan, Ireland
Walshy, first off, well done on reaching the finals with a new squad. Secondly, how is your charity doing at the moment? Also, has your DNA been sent into space yet?
Walshy (4:08 PM)
The charity is doing very well. We just launched our new website GamersOutreach.org. We have new events coming up at Eastern Michigan University. We just had a canned food drive. Things are going well. Thank you for asking.
Michael (Lewisport, KY)
How well is the new instinct doing/gelling? And do you think you all will set back str8 to the #2 spot?
Walshy (4:09 PM)
Very well. We've only gotten to test our skills once in an online game. They're a very skillful team online. I think we're all excited to see how we do on LAN.
Michael
What is it like playing with the highest caliber of players in the world?
Walshy (4:10 PM)
There's little room for error. If you miss a shot or make a mistake you're going to pay for it. But I want it no other way. I want to play against the best.
Enrique: (Pampa, Texas)
First of all, congratulations on all your success with MLG and best of luck for you in the future. When did it start to go wrong with Final Boss?
Walshy (4:12 PM)
I started to see it a little bit toward the end. It felt like something was wrong. We'd be practicing and it felt like there was something that wasn't said. I could tell something was said. I thought it was a sign that we were going to have a talk. I thought we'd figure out some sort of solution, but it went a step further than I thought.
Sean Miller (Temperance, Michigan)
Do you have any recommendations on how to improve one's strafe and BR skill?
Walshy (4:13 PM)
I don't put an insane amount of emphasis on strafe. Unless you're running in a straight line all the time, then it could make a difference. But I would say to learn to use the area around you. Going behind boxes or jumping and hitting your head on boxes to go up and down quickly.
Gabes, Montreal, Canada
Walshy, How do you think you guys will do with the arrival of best overal player Neighbor in 09 ?
Walshy (4:14 PM)
I'm very confident going into the season. We replaced Soviet with Neighbor, who was voted the best overall player. We're very excited to have this playing power.
Dre (Bloomfield Hills, MI)
Hey Walshy your Halo 2 montage was one of the most inspirational things I've ever seen and I was wondering if you plan on releasing one for Halo 3
Walshy (4:15 PM)
Yes, I do plan on releasing one for Halo 3. I'm just waiting until I have the right footage. But I don't want to rush it. The Halo 2 one I released was 2.5 years into the game, so I want to make sure I have the right montage.
Chase Orlando FL
Hey David, any advice for me to become an upriseing star as yourself?
Walshy (4:16 PM)
I think there's a lot of opportunities out there where you can get into online tournaments. Those are the best ways to test your skills other than live events. Live events can be tough to get to, so online tournaments you can test your skills.
Joel, San diego, Ca
Why do you think you are more of an objective player in h3, when in h2 you did a lot of slayin? Where you just better at h2 and h1?
Walshy (4:17 PM)
Yeah, it seems like I may have lacked a bit more in the slaying department. My shot hasn't caught up like it was or maybe others have caught up. So I've been more into the objectives.
Walshy (4:18 PM)
I just wanted to say thank you to everybody. I'm headed out to New York for my coaches' Triple X's wedding. Then I'm going out to San Diego for a clothing show for Kinaeneto.
