We've got Amaze!
Steve Worcester,MA
What was it like being voted the best player in 2008 and how did you get there?
Amaze (4:04 PM)
If felt amazing that all the pros thought I was the best out of everyone. I just practice a lot. You have to play with people you like. I like my teammates and it makes the game fun.
Dave philadelphia, PA
So...Amaze how are you going to prepare for the up coming season?
Amaze (4:04 PM)
Just practice, practice practice. We usually play every night about 4-5 hours. We should be ready for the '09 season.
Brian The Bronx New York
Is infinity feeling confident about winning 1st place at meadowlands with new member Uzzi on the team?
Amaze (4:05 PM)
Very confident. He seems like a great fit for the team. Our chemistry is the best its been. We think we can take every event if we put the effort into it.
Jack Anderson Crook
How would you feel about travelling to the UK for one of their Gears of War 2 events?
Amaze (4:06 PM)
That would be amazing. I have always wanted to visit another country. I'd love it if they did it around Gears.
Johnny (San Jose, CA)
What are some of the adjustments in gaming strategies and tactics you and your team have made from Gears 1 to Gears 2?
Amaze (4:07 PM)
We just had to tighten up our teamwork a lot. Gears 2 takes a lot of team shooting and team work to get the power weapons. We focus on teamwork and not just individual skill now.
B Town (Canton, CT)
What up playa? How much is winning due to practice and how much due to hand/eye coordination?
Amaze (4:08 PM)
It's pretty even for me. If you practice a lot and work with your teammates and don't get angry about little things and losses, you'll excell. And having hand-eye cordination is important. It's just as important in having skill as teamwork.
Don Mullin (Wethersfield)
Why go pro with Gears? Aren't there more challenging games out there?
Amaze (4:09 PM)
There's just something about Gears that makes me love it. It's probably my favorite game of all time. I don't see myself playing any other game but it.
Joe Raleigh, NC
We all know your "Amaze"ing at Gears. How good are you at Halo? got a 50 in MLG? lol
Amaze (4:10 PM)
I don't really play many other games. Halo I'm average at. I wouldn't say I'm good. I don't really play it. Other times I'll mess around on Madden or NHL '09.
Jon Balzack (Reno, NV)
When did you first know you could be a professional gamer?
Amaze (4:10 PM)
The first time I played Gears of War on my XBox, there was something about it. I was good. I was amazing from the start. I knew I could be something special.
Cowboy Ron (Piston, PA)
Hey Jesse, was wondering how much music plays a part in your training? Who do you listen to?
Amaze (4:11 PM)
We usually listen to music before we play, just to get us pumped up. While we're playing, it's all about communication.
Dan Unger, MN
How do you manage to balance school and professional gaming? Is it hard to do both without sacrificing one?
Amaze (4:12 PM)
About halfway through my first MLG season in '07, I decided to do homeschooling. That makes it a lot easier to balance schoolwork and play at the same time.
Paulie Augie (East Conn)
This may sound silly Amaze, but injuries do happen even to pro gamers. What have you had to deal with?
Amaze (4:13 PM)
No. I've never heard of anybody having a gaming related injury yet. It hasn't really happened to me.
M'Arcy Lane (Fordham< NY)
If you could pick one college to go to, which would it be? Would you still play on the side?
Amaze (4:14 PM)
I haven't really decided that yet. I'm waiting until the summer and then I'm going to decide if I'm going to college yet. If I do go, yeah, I will still play some in my free time.
Genie P. (West Warwick)
I gots mad props to you. You beat my old neighbor in the semifinals two years ago. How much has your style changed in the past two years?
Amaze (4:14 PM)
At first I was a very immature, rush happy player. But I've matured over the past couple of years. But now I'm more about teamwork and getting the job done.
Ryan Boise Idaho
How much caffeine do you consume a day?
Amaze (4:16 PM)
Hmmm. I'm trying to think of what I drink. It's not so much caffeine, I mostly drink water throughout the day. I usually have enough energy to play as much as needed.
Rob Barbarella (Torrington, CT)
What are your favorite things to do away from the game console? Do you exercise a lot or play football?
Amaze (4:16 PM)
Watching a lot of movies. I like to read a lot. I usually read a few books a year.
Silent Turtle, Village of the Wind
If gears was announced that it was removed from the circuit, what other game would you play competitively?
Amaze (4:17 PM)
I would probably give Halo a try to see if I could excell at it. If that didn't work out, then I'd probably just play for fun in my spare time and quit the competitive scene.
Amaze (4:17 PM)
Thanks for the support. I'll see everyone next season on the MLG circuit.
