Here to chat for a bit.

Will mid-majors be overlooked by the NCAA selection committee based on the strength and parity of the major conference programs?
Andy Katz (11:05 AM)
Not overlooked. They will get in if they have the body of work. Not many do this season. That's why there will likely be a record low number of teams out of the mid-majors.
Why has Devan Dumes been suspended?
Andy Katz (11:06 AM)
For a flagrant elbow. Big Ten teams are cracking down on this behavior.
Tulsa barely lost to Memphis last time they played in Tulsa. Does TU have a decent chance to get the win this time @ Memphis?
Andy Katz (11:11 AM)
Sure. Memphis is not a mortal lock at FedEx. The Tigers could be primed to be beaten after the West Coast trip to Spokane. I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised.
john (spokane, wa)
Do you think that Washington State can be a fixture in the NCAA tourny the next couple year with the 9 freshman they have this year.
Andy Katz (11:12 AM)
The Pac-10 is in flux, outside of UCLA. So I wouldn't be surprised if WSU can be a consistent player for a bid. The Cougs will likely fall short this season. But the future is certainly bright with Klay Thompson.
Mike (South Orange, NJ)
Is the issue with the Big East right now the teams like Georgetown, Syracuse, and Notre Dame are considerable worse than expected or that teams like Providence and Cincinnati are better than expected? Every extra unexpected win for these surprising teams takes one away from an expected tournament team.
Andy Katz (11:13 AM)
I would say Syracuse's injuries are an issue and so is its porous defense, Gtown is struggling to score and is young and Notre Dame isn't defending. Providence and Cincinnati are performing as expected. Neither has stood up and taken down one of the elite teams yet. We, maybe I, probably put ND and Gtown on a pedastal too early in the season.
Seth (Madison, WI)
In a past chat, you said Wisconsin was likely out of the NCAA tournament unless they won the Big Ten tournament. Do you still feel that way, even after their two wins this past week? What does Bucky have to do to get in?
Andy Katz (11:17 AM)
I put them to rest too early. Wisconsin does have a pulse after the wins over Illinois and Penn State. The Badgers havfe a favorable schedule down the stretch and if they win the right games they can get a bid.
Jon (Swampscott, MA)
Andy, any chance for my BC Eagles to get into the dance? They have a pretty good resume
Andy Katz (11:18 AM)
It may come down to these next three home games: Clemson, Duke and Florida State. Win two and they're a lock. Win one and they may sweat it out, lose three and they're in trouble.
Jonathan ( San Diego CA)
What?s your take on the MWC? Do you think SDSU can win the conference if they beat Utah on Wednesday night?
Andy Katz (11:25 AM)
Joe Lunardi had four teams in from the MWC. I'm not sure I would go that far. Utah has the best shot of any team with its best overall body of work. UNLV, San Diego State and BYU might need to finish first or second to have a shot. But three isn't out of the question. I find it hard to put all four in the field.
Assuming Xaiver wins the A-10 Tournament. Could this end up being a 1 bid conference?
Andy Katz (11:26 AM)
Yes. Dayton has the next best shot. Splitting with Xavier would be imperative for the Flyers. The win over Marquette certainly helps the resume.
Andy, Who would you say is the front-runner for Big Ten Coach of the Year?
Andy Katz (11:28 AM)
I would put Bruce Weber first. Ed DeChellis had a shot a few weeks ago.
You think Wake Forest can cut down the nets?
Andy Katz (11:29 AM)
Will they? Probably not. Can they? Yes. Wake Forest has the scorers and as long as it defends then it has a shot.
Andy, thoughts on the UCLA since Howland has put them in overdrive, can they get a 1 or at least a 2 seed?
Andy Katz (11:29 AM)
I could see a scenario where UCLA gets a No. 2 if it wins out. I don't see one where it gets a No. 1.
Andy, if Siena beats NIU but loses the MAAC, do they make it as an at large?
Andy Katz (11:33 AM)
Mike: (Storrs, CT)
If you had to pick a team right now to cut down the nets in Detroit who would it be?
Andy Katz (11:33 AM)
North Carolina Pitt Oklahoma Connecticut
Can Uconn pull of the dual national championship again this year?
Andy Katz (11:34 AM)
Yes. I don't see the women losing a game. Connecticut obvioiusly will have a tougher slate.
James -- Philadelphia
When are folks going to realize that Villanova is for real? I've seen folks use the word "overachieving" to characterize Villanova several times this past week. What gives? This is the same team went to the Sweet 16 last year. If anything, folks should be saying that Villanova is finally playing up to its potential.
Andy Katz (11:35 AM)
I was one of those people. But Villanova is playing extremely well at this point and deserves all the praise it's receiving.
Frank (Worthington, TX)
Princeton beat Harvard, Harvard beat Boston College, Boston College beat North Carolina. If the season ended today, North Carolina would be a 1 seed and Princeton would be a 16. Not saying that Princeton would beat North Carolina, but it seems the reality of a 16 knocking off a 1 is getting closer. Do you think this will ever happen or will the 1 seed always be just good enough to never lose?
Andy Katz (11:36 AM)
It will happen someday. Don't see it happening this season.
Who is your suprise team(s) so far this season? Mine would have to be University of Cincinnati.
Andy Katz (11:36 AM)
Good choice. But I would say Butler. I didn't think the Bulldogs would be this good after losing senior leadership on the perimeter.
Andy, how far will Georgetown's win over #1 UConn carry them come selection Sunday when the Committee matches-up their resume with the likes of Arizona, Kansas State, and even Texas?
Andy Katz (11:37 AM)
It will help. That's why I think Gtown is the only Big East team that could get in as a sub .500 team. The win over Memphis and Connecticut will help if the Hoyas can win enough games down the stretch.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Would Penn State have made your list of most surprising teams had they not dropped their last two?
Andy Katz (11:38 AM)
Yes. But I wouldn't rule out another Penn State revival down the stretch. Thanks for the questions this week. Pat Forde will be here later today.
