Dave Hunter (3:01 PM)
Good Afternoon Everyone! I'll be fielding your Fantasy NBA questions for the next hour. I'll try to get to as many as I can...
Brendan (NY)
What's up with Golden State benching their veterans? Are they going to continue doing that for the rest of the year? As a Stephen Jackson owner and a Knick fan, Don Nelson has now crept into Isiah land as a super-villain
Dave Hunter (3:04 PM)
Nelson is definitely getting on fantasy owners last nerves with this move, and it's understandable coming down to the wire in all leagues. However, I don't expect S-Jax, or any of the normal GS vets to be benched for more than a game at a time. I'm anticipating every fourth or fifth game at most for players like SJax. I expect Nelson to continue starting his youngsters, but not at the expense of benching anyone indefinitely.

a guy in my league dropped Manu due to injury...I have the playoffs in sight in my H2H league and wonder if i should drop e.gordon or r.sessions for Manu.I am afraid Ridnour's return could cut into sessions' production. Please advise, thank you!
Dave Hunter (3:06 PM)
If you've got the playoffs in sight and you really feel you'll lock up a slot, then I would make the move to grab Manu. Getting him for a playoff run would be huge. Dropping Sessions is the right move, hang onto Gordon.
Anthony (Cali)
Who's better for the rest of the season .... Raja Bell or Azubuike?
Dave Hunter (3:10 PM)
Production has been pretty inconsistent for Bell of late, but the key here is that he's getting solid minutes every night. Azu is just now getting worked back into the mix of things and I don't believe he'll keep getting those type of minutes with Nelson's ever-so-changing rotation. So, as you can tell, it's all about the minutes with me....I'd rather have Bell on roster from here on out.
Jason (From the Nati)
Would it be worth dropping a guy like DJ Augustine for the hope that Monta Ellis or Arenas can come back and contribute?
Dave Hunter (3:13 PM)
I would let Augustin go to pick up Ellis. He should be back over the next few games...and is definitely worth the grab. Arenas? No, don't fall for that trap. Every few days things change with Arenas. There's no sense in grabbing him and waiting when you can get solid production from Ellis (in a few days).
Steiny (NYC)
Do you believe Stephon Marbury will have some fantasy value for the remainder of this season?
Dave Hunter (3:17 PM)
Sure, he's got value, but it depends on the size of the league. I surely wouldn't add him in a standard ESPN 10-team league, or for that matter, even a 12-team league. Marbury is only valuable in very deep leagues at this point. I just don't see him getting more than 20 minutes a game down the stretch.
kevin (Winnipeg)
Hey Dave, how about some love for a Canadian BBall junkie? I have to drop one player off my roster and it is boiling down to KMart or Jack. Jack has been awesome lately and I was wondering if he will keep the production up when Granger comes back? I'm in a H2H points league by the way. Thanks.
Dave Hunter (3:23 PM)
It looks like Granger will be back sooner than anticipated, and when that happens, I definitely see Jack's numbers taking a hit, especially on the scoring front. I'm a KMart fan because of what he provides on the defensive side of things...steals and blocks. You'll get the steals from Jack as well, but for all-around production and that I do expect Jack's numbers to decrease, I'd keep K-Mart.
Craig - Pasadena
Is Millsap worth hanging onto?
Dave Hunter (3:27 PM)
Sure he is. You're going to need to watch his minutes of course, but he's proven to this point that he can play. I think he'll average about 20-25 minutes for the rest of the way, once Boozer is feeling and producing well. Stil, even with 25 minutes a game, Millsap will be productive...at the very least worth a bench slot on your team.
Jimmy Joe (Uranus)
Should I just trade Durant, he seems injury prone to me and honestly he isn't putting up enough numbers for me to make the playoffs right now.
Dave Hunter (3:30 PM)
I would not call Durant injury prone. I'm not sure why you think that...I mean the guy has played in 57 games this season so far. And, he played 80 last season. One injury does not make him injury prone. I'm expecting Durant to miss no more than a week of play, but if you can get a top-tier player in return for him...fantastic. Just don't give up or undersell him. He's a top-10 player overall.
Brad(NM)
Has A.I. lost all fantasy value in 10-team H2H leagues, even if he comes back from injury?
Dave Hunter (3:33 PM)
No, he has not lost all fantasy value. I know AI hasn't been producing of years past, but he hasn't lost all fantasy value. Seems like an overboard reaction on your part, impulsive. In a 10-team league, I would have no problem rostering him.
Craig (PA)
I'm leading a 10 team keeper league (we keep three) and my team is stacked (Kobe, pau, amare, carter, melo, camby, gay, iguodala, okefur, bargiani, felton, ford, bynum). Which 3 should i keep and is it safe to drop bynum?
Dave Hunter (3:36 PM)
As of right now I would keep: Kobe Amare Iggy Kobe and Amare are must holds, while Iggy give you all-around production in so many different categories. If you're leading your league right now and you're not too concerned about losing your lead, I'd hold onto Bynum. If you need the immediate production elsewhere, than make a move and drop him.
Jim (NY)
Any chance Amare returns in time for fantasy playoffs? Our championship is the last full week of the season. Thanks
Dave Hunter (3:43 PM)
Don't count on it. I mean, we're talking about a very serious injury here, more than just basketball. An eye isn't anything to mess around with. Heck, if I'm Amare, I say shut me down for the year, make sure I've got vision and things are normal before risking things. So, if I were you, I'd release him in yearly leagues. The only way I'd hang onto him is in keeper leagues.
Jared (SC)
Just traded Maggette for Al Horford. Good trade or no?
Dave Hunter (3:47 PM)
That's a fair trade. You lose on points, but you gain in rebounds, blocks. Horford has been putting up good numbers of late too. So again, fair trade right now. I think Maggette is overrated anyway, too many attach themselves to scoring.
Craig (Davenport, Iowa)
Any update on Steve Nash?
Dave Hunter (3:50 PM)
Nash will be back in action this week, tomorrow against Orlando. I'm sure he won't see 35 minutes, but he's someone you want to get active by the end of the week in daily leagues.
Henry (Columbus)
What do I do with Kaman? He says he will be back in two weeks, but I've heard that song before... cut bait or continue to wait?
Dave Hunter (3:52 PM)
It just depends on what you've got going on right now with your team. If you need the stats now, don't wait on him. I'd hate to see you wait on him in a h2H league where you're fighting for your playoff life. But, if you're comfortable and can hold out awhile, keep Kaman on roster.
Lance
Hey Dave, which 3 should I keep? - Gay, Deron, Butler, Bynum, Stuckey, Manu?
Dave Hunter (3:55 PM)
Tough call between Gay and Bynum. Deron Williams and Caron Butler though are automatic holds. Between Gay and Bynum, right now I'd hold onto Gay. I love Bynum and think the kid is skilled enough to be one of the best in the league years down the road, but the injuries are a little worrisome.
Matt (Fort Collins)
Given that Dunleavy will still be out, will M Daniels #s stay up when Granger returns?
Dave Hunter (3:57 PM)
Yes, I like Daniels' numbers to stay similar, and for his minutes to remain for the most part, especially since Dunleavy may be done for the year. Jack's production dives before Daniels when Granger is back.
Ben (Tempe, AZ)
Hey Dave, pick 2 for the rest of the year and why. Luke Ridnour, Mario Chalmers, Aaron Brooks. Thanks!
Dave Hunter (4:01 PM)
I would keep Chalmers and Brooks on roster. I still have faith in Chalmers turning things around enough to give you the numbers you need down the stretch. Brooks has been inconsistent of late, but I love his potential with TMac sidelined and Alston out of town. Brooks will get control of his consistency issues. Ridnour doesn't do enough for me not to take a chance on Chalmers turning things around.
Dave Hunter (4:02 PM)
Okay Everyone, that's it for me! Have a great day and sorry I couldn't get to all of your questions. If you need an immediate answer on something, you can reach me via the Answer Guys service! Good luck down the stretch!
