Amy Nelson (9:59 AM)
Hey Guys, Been gone a few weeks but I'm back now ... so we have lots to talk about, Manny and Arod and we're bringing back the dunk contest today
nick ( clyde, ohio)
welcome back amy
Amy Nelson (10:02 AM)
THanks Nick. I'm off the Arod beat for a day, and ready to talk to you guys. What's going on?
victor monroe,la
if you leave me again \. i will have to trade you to espn for sage steele is it clear?
Amy Nelson (10:03 AM)
Good trade for you, Sage is my girl!
Bo (Tampa,Fl)
Be honest Amy, it get annoying having to deal with A-Rod saga constantly doesn't it?
matt (chapel hill)
thank god no more arod im sick of it
Amy Nelson (10:04 AM)
I don't blame you guys, I'm sure it can seem overload. Jay Crawford and I were disagreeing this mroning because he thinks that all the players are not treated the same, that only the superstars are put under the spotlight...
joe lowell [via mobile]
hello any i think its time for manny to sign
Angelica Rose (Los Angeles, CA)
Manny needs to make up his mind already! Who refuses a $45M deal?
Amy Nelson (10:06 AM)
Well it sounds like it's been amde up, Big ups to Enrique Rojas for breaking it...
Yuri, Miami
Shouldn't you be chasing Alex Rodriguez's nephew or something?
Amy Nelson (10:06 AM)
Very funny...
Mike (NY)
Oy. It never ends with A rod, its gotten to the point that i just feel bad for someone whos making 27 mill a year.
Cranston (Frisco, Tx)
Well Amy thats what comes with being a superstar...U get the spotlight good OR bad.
Amy Nelson (10:06 AM)
That's what I wasd saying...you know being a siperstar suire has had its benefits, too
Chris Virginia Beach
They aren't treated the same. Why is the Federal Gov't following Barry Bonds with a pooper scooper the past 5 years?
Amy Nelson (10:07 AM)
Well, very true, too. Jay didn't agree. Clearly he is wrong and I am right. Just like every day...
Eric detroit
Are my posts coing up, Amy let me know
Jeff (Orlando, FL)
welcome back amy we've all missed you
Eric Detroit mi
Please a day with no steroids, PLEASE
Amy Nelson (10:08 AM)
Eric, Sorry, don't think I can pull it off. You guys are lucky I'm not calling you Yuri and Alex the entire chat....
Amy Nelson (10:08 AM)
Eric, Sorry, don't think I can pull it off. You guys are lucky I'm not calling you Yuri and Alex the entire chat....
Kevin C-Bus, Ohio
AMY!! Does Boras not watch the stumbling Dow everyday? Is Manny that good, he can afford to miss any part of training camp?
Amy Nelson (10:09 AM)
Do you think Boras really watches the Dow? Do you think he cares?
Justin (NC)
Alex loves Jose Reyes. Geez, can we not put everything he does under the microscope?
Brian (Grand Blanc, MI)
The Dodgers are seeing what life with Manny is like and he is not even on their team. After all this, if they still want him, they should offer him a contract that lessens every hour until he signs. He doesn't have any other teams bidding, so what do the Dodgers have to lose?
Amy Nelson (10:09 AM)
Um, one of the best righthanded hitters in the game?
Jonathan (Holly Springs, NC)
Bonds want to play again no one is going to sign him
Amy Nelson (10:09 AM)
noup
Jeff ((Miami,FL))
this is manny being manny and of course he's that good
Craig(Buffalo,NY)
Mike, how do you feel bad about a man making 27 million a year for hitting a baseball.Keep in mind that the economy is bad as well.C'mon
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
Manny doesn't need Spring Training
Bo (Tampa,Fl)
Both the Dodgers and Manny have to work something out because the Dodgers need Manny and no one else seems to want him.
Amy Nelson (10:11 AM)
looks like they've worked it out
Mike (NY)
Alex just doesnt think. He has good intentions. But We all need to accept the man just is not that bright and can be heavily influenced by those close to him, such as his ex wife, cousin, and boras. I love the guy but hes just weak emotionally and mentally.
Philip: (Bowling Green, KY)
Man-Ram is going to destroy that west coast pitching all year, he wants to resign an extension at the end of this year
Chris (Plainsboro, NJ)
Guys the current state of the economy should not affect our sports deals...if they can afford it, so be it...If you or I were Manny we'd be wanting as much as possible too...Jim Caple had a great piece on page 2 yesterday
Amy Nelson (10:12 AM)
Caple shoutout!
Paul (Indianapolis, IN)
After watching how the Manny situation has played out, even though his departure left a big hole in the Red Soxs line up, it still has to have the Red Soxs feeling good for getting rid of him.
Robert (WADE COUNTY)
why are we talking about base ball?
Amy Nelson (10:13 AM)
Robert, My friend, you are in the wrong chat.
Craig(Buffalo,NY)
For one day, can we not have A-rod talk. I more concerned about Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith and their families.
Amy Nelson (10:14 AM)
Craig, Way to put it in persepctive. Very sad story. Jemele Hill's story this morning was great.
rick colorado springs,CO
amy, am i getting thru to you? please let me know
Jalen Lewis (Detroit MI.)
baseball is for old people
Amy Nelson (10:15 AM)
That's true, Jalen, thanks for reminding me of how old I am...
Eric Detroit mi
Robert, they talk about baseball to much, What about Nascar. This SPORT doesnt get the time it should. This is truly a sport
Jonathan (Holly Springs, NC)
my thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of the players lost at sea
Mike (NY)
Skip, is right arods handlers for all the money their paid are horrible. maybe its cause no one yells at arod someone needs to give him a kick in the you know what
Jeff (Pittsburgh, PA)
amy, showing any love to the nhl trade deadline today???
Amy Nelson (10:16 AM)
hmmmm
Rich (Pawtucket, RI)
Robert, don't you know that Amy is the ESPN Baseball Goddess:)
Billy (Claremont)
Amy is the best thing to happen to First Take ever. Everyone agree?
Amy Nelson (10:17 AM)
Of course. Best. Ever.
Jonathan (Holly Springs, NC)
canes are on the come back you'll see them in the NHL playoffs
Robert (hollywood,fl)
do you think that it was a smart move for many ramirez to leave the 40 million from the red sox to recieve a million or 2 more from the dodgers?
Amy Nelson (10:18 AM)
I do, Robert. I think he needed to get out of there, and for him personally, it was better.
Brad H (Minot ND)
its just Alex being Alex; not thinking before he speaks; im sure he didn't mean to diss Jeter or Damon; but just meant to praise Reyes and it blew up in his face
Chris Virginia Beach
Amy, Im appalled. You posted a message from a NASCAR person. What's next, a comment on soccer? And this was in the middle of talking about baseball. Ugh. You need to get back into the swing of things.
Amy Nelson (10:20 AM)
fair enough
Steve, Tampa
I'd take Manny over ARod-Blagojevich any day. Show Manny the money!
Amy Nelson (10:21 AM)
DOn't get your comparation to the govenor..
Mike (NY)
Of course he didnt mean do diss Jeter or Damon, He just doesnt understand how to communicate properly with people. Thats why the media loves his quotes depite him never saying anything substantial.
Amy Nelson (10:21 AM)
I wouldn't say the media loves his quotes, I would say the headline writers and tabloids like him for fodder
Christopher (San Antonio)
Arod is an idiot. Why does he seem to have the maturity and mannerisms of a fifteen year old. Every time I see him talk, he looks like a kid in a room of men.
lawrence (vermont)
Maybe with Arod hurt the Yankees will go after Manny
Amy Nelson (10:22 AM)
um not happening...
Amy Nelson (10:23 AM)
btw, micahel curry's voice is deep. he needs a radio love jams show...
Dan (Pittsburgh, PA)
Arod is a 3rd baseman not an OF
Amy Nelson (10:23 AM)
thank you...
Ryan (St. Louis, MO)
Because everytime Arod talks he doesn't want to let anything slip. Theres a lot deeper going on that he knows and isn't saying
James(Paso Robles, CA)
Manny can't field, can't run, can't throw and is a quitter and is a horrible teammate. I hope he gives McCord some attitude today and the Dodgers decide not to sign him. Then he can take his ball and go find Barry Bonds to play catch with.
Amy Nelson (10:24 AM)
James hard core! Are you a Boston fan?
Eric Detroit mi
Amy please post, Skip I'm with you 110% about AI. and yeah right AI coming of the bench and playing 50% is in question, But Joe D has a way to get the best out of players, Good day skip
James (Lansing, MI)
When the Pistons traded Chauncey for AI, I agreed with Skip about how AI is the opposite of what the Pistons have done for the last decade. If Joe D. wanted to shake things up he should have tried to trade Rasheed.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
If Shaquille O'Neal is at the point of his career where he became the essence of what he criticized his entire career (pulling the Vlade Divac flop), he has to retire right now. Fini, end of career, thank you for your enormous contributions to the NBA, Shaq...
Scott E. (Greensboro, NC)
Amy, How come you don't get to fill-in on the air when Dana is out?
Amy Nelson (10:26 AM)
Because then I'd be abandoning you guys!
Christopher (San Antonio)
The best Manny clip is when he cut the throw from Damon in center! That was awesome!
Amy Nelson (10:26 AM)
amazing. stunningly amazing
Robert (WADE COUNTY,FL)
amy who do u think will win the WBC?
Amy Nelson (10:27 AM)
good question i'm heading to toronto to cover the first round...my sleeper is korea.
Will (WV)
Amy, I have a question. Why is it that baseball seems to be more about allegations, controversy and news headlines? I don't watch too much baseball myself, but it seems like the talent and passion of all of the other MLB players get overshadowed by the dumb mistakes of a few guys. I don't think it is fair that the guys who work hard and care about what they do get less publicity than the "bad guys".
Amy Nelson (10:29 AM)
the burning question no one can seem to really answer...
Andy (New York, NY)
Amy, you sure you are going to cover the WBC? Or are you on assignment to go through A-Rod's laundry again?
Amy Nelson (10:30 AM)
yes, i'll be in toronto and just doing my job
Brendan (Boston)
Morning Amy.... Let Jay no know he got a huge shout-out on the most recent Bill Simmons podcast w/ Mathew Berry... he said he was the nicest guy ever.... big First Take shout outs from the Sports Guy, might want to think about shouting him out.
Matt (Glendale, AZ)
Amy, I have a question about the WBC. Is there going to be better coverage and hype for it this year? I felt like the 2006 session was kind of underrated. Its like FIFA, even if you dont like baseball, its the world coming together in sport to battle for the crown!
Amy Nelson (10:34 AM)
I dont think there will be better coverage because there will be fewer newspapers covering it, sadly
nick ( clyde, ohio)
i think all 3 dunks get a 1
Amy Nelson (10:34 AM)
I don't nkow if you guys saw the dunks but we need people to rate them and say why...
Amy Nelson (10:36 AM)
The first was Iguadala's windmill (on the knicks, so that doesn't count as much) The second was Josh Smith, going through the lane with what almost looks like a tip-in.. Gerald Henderson with the Tomahawk jam...
Amy Nelson (10:36 AM)
And you guys need to write in who should be the "viewer's dunk"
Scott E. (Greensboro, NC)
Amy, You don't need to look far for this week's dunk contest nominees. All 3 should come from Paul Harris in last night's Syracuse/Rutgers game. He is a beast!
Amy Nelson (10:38 AM)
don't forget to rank them, 1-10
Tommy (O'Fallon, IL)
can we view these dunks on ESPN's website somewhere?
Amy Nelson (10:39 AM)
no because of rights i believe it's an issue they might be on youtube
Kyle (Dublin, OH)
The Henderson dunk is most impressive. Did you see how far he had to jump and where he started? NASTY!
Jeremy (Russellville Ky)
Amy, that Gerald Henderson dunk was sick. The officially "posterized" his defender!
Brendan (Boston)
Henderson should win simply for doing in the lane over people, Iguodala was a nice tomahawk, but those are a dime a dozen, Josh Smith wasn't really a dunk... give it to Henderson... although no one likes Duke
Scott E. (Greensboro, NC)
Paul Harris self-lob last night=10 Gerald Henderson = 8 Josh Smith = 0 (Not a real dunk)
Jose Goncalves (Charleston, SC)
From what I saw on the top ten this morning, there were better dunks than the first two options. The dunk on Syracuse was SICK!!! ut voting, The Henderson dunk (3rd one) is by far the best. Dunk 1 - 6; Dunk 2 - 7; Dunk 3 - 8
Kyle: (Tallahassee, FL)
Was Josh Smith's even a dunk? It looked more like a tip in. Iggy - 8 a great dunk and it looked good but it was on a break away so it can only be so good. Gerald Henderson - 6 Pretty good but his excessive celebration afterwards gets it knocked down. The best part about it was Maryland's yellow jerseys. Josh Smith - 2 Not even a dunk!
Eric Detroit mi
Gerold Heeeennnnderrrson,, That dunk killed him all, college dunk, take all 10's, i give it a 100. beat the pro's. This looked like the slam dunk challenge, Ok not that far, but that was flat out the best this week
Terry Atlanta
Josh Smith 8.5 Gerald Henderson 8 Iquadala 6.5
Andy (Plumstead NJ)
AI-10 GH-9 JS-N/D(Not a dunk)
Amy Nelson (10:40 AM)
agree, as my producer steve said, it's a putback
Amy Nelson (10:41 AM)
anyone got a write-in?
Chris Virginia Beach, VA
It has to be Gerald Henderson! The Beast Can flat out jump, and the thing is, he makes these duks look easy! He does it all the time. This guy is gonna be AWESOME in the NBA Dunk COntest.
Bo (Tampa,Fl)
Gerald Henderson is a 9, in traffic over people from far out. The best of those three.
Amy Nelson (10:41 AM)
in trafficbut the defenders didn't even lift a finger
matt (chapel hill)
the kid from syracuse
Eric (Punxsy, PA)
henderson 1a= 7.5 iguadalas 1b= 7.3 n smith one wasnt a dunk 0000.000
Brendan (Boston)
even if they lifted a finger he would've jumped over it
Amy Nelson (10:42 AM)
perhaps but it might as well have been an iso with no one int he lane
Robert (WADE COUNTY,FL)
after i watched the replays i would agree the josh smith dunk was amazing!
Scott (B-town)
Michigan State dunk with under a minute should be the write in.
Amy Nelson (10:43 AM)
ok so all we have is a michigan state dunk and a dunk syrracuse? any others/
Zack (Spartanburg, South Carolina)
Paul Harris self pass dunk is probably the write-in winner.
Amy Nelson (10:43 AM)
it's a self pass?
Will Guy (Raleigh, NC)
Gerald Henderson's dunk was not only impressive, but also deflated the Maryland team.
James (Lansing, MI)
Raymar Morgan's dunk for Michigan State to ice the game last night.
Amy Nelson (10:45 AM)
so are more people on this paul harris bandwagon?
Joe (Va Beach)
yea it was a self pass, at least thats what I thought as soon as I saw it
Ryan (St. Louis, MO)
But we can't let Duke win anything, thats almost as bad as a cub, jayhawk or red wing winning something
Amy Nelson (10:45 AM)
good point
Matt (Boston, MA)
Gerald Hendersons dunk was the best. What made it better than the others was the fact that he waved off his picks first not to mention the fact that you don't see that stuff much from Duke players.
Joshua (St. Pete)
Iggy - 8: Impressive windmill from good distance with elevation. Only 8 b/c it was a complete breakaway. JSmoove - 9: Only not a 10 b/c it was more of a tip/lay in of a dunk. But if Superman can win a dunk contest w/out actually dunking, with this degree of difficulty, Smith gets a 9. Henderson - 9: I watched this live and thought he stepped on air to make that slam. Seriously looks like he pumps and changes momentum. However the dunk itself was bland, the only thing keeping it from a 10.
Joshua (Richmond, Mi)
Josh Smith, Mildly impressive 7. The Big Iq impressive, but not in traffic 8. And as much as I dislike Duke, Gerald Henderson 8.5 takes it barely. In traffic but no defense. Simply because they were scared.
nick ( clyde, ohio)
i think d-wades reverse dunk was better than these three
Kyle (Dublin, OH)
Evan Turners dunk last night. Big play not a moster dunk but impressive drive to the basket.
Daniel (Indianapolis)
i'm amazed no one is talking about the Jeff Teague Dunk, that was amazing!
Frank (Texas)
What about Shaq's dunk off the missed free throw. That would beat out Iguadala and Smith. But Henderson by far was the best
Jason (Madison)
Amy....i havn't seen my post. :( No dunks from the D-Wade/King James game the other night?
Chris Virginia Beach
Amy, hey, whats with the comment about Duke winning something is wrong? You are a JOURNALIST. You are not to show favor to a team. With this mentality, you should go work at Fox News.
Amy Nelson (10:48 AM)
someone is sensitive this morning...
john (akron,ohio)
i agree j teagues' dunk was sick, small guy also.
Amy Nelson (10:49 AM)
i think the harris self dunk might win out
Amy Nelson (10:51 AM)
ok i just looked at paul harris' dunka nd teague's dunk and i'm torn
Amy Nelson (10:51 AM)
harris didnt' really pass it to himself, it looks like he just caught some air
Justin (Utica,NY)
Harris should have thrown the ball higher to himself or even bounced it off the backboard. Maybe that would have given him a little recognition on the show
Amy Nelson (10:52 AM)
see that's what i was thinking...so is teague the winner now ? and anyone got a rating?
Scott E. (Greensboro, NC)
It warms my heart to see that this show/contest is a democracy and that us lowly fans can overrule the ESPN producers and remove Josh Smith's non-dunk in favor of a more deserving nominee.
Eric Detroit
Come on Harris win, ha NO NO NO. Henderson, come on, that was sick, if Yao was in front of him , yao goes down, Yao goes, down, Yes yao goes down, yao, not the biggest but you get it,
Brandon (Raleigh, NC)
teague's was all in that guys grill
Jeremey(Louisvile)
Teague! Teague! Teague!
Adam (Tampa, FL)
TEAGUE 10 Smith 8 other guy 7
Amy Nelson (10:53 AM)
ok looks like teague is winning...
Scott (B-town)
Teague - 9.5 = winner
Amy Nelson (10:54 AM)
teague is the victor today, voted by the people!
reggie (peoria, il)
what about jeff teauge's dunk over maryland's senior
Amy Nelson (10:54 AM)
reggie where ya been at?
Amy Nelson (10:54 AM)
reggie where ya been at?
Jake (Syracuse)
Paul Harris had a trio of nasty dunks, his self pass was a 20. You never see that done in games.
Amy Nelson (10:56 AM)
i honestly didn't see him pass it to himself, where did that happen?
SKIP BAYLESS [CONNECTICUT]
DEAR AMY NELSON, WHY IS IT THAT WE HAVEN'T TALKED ABOUT BRETT FAVRE AND HOW HE IS COPING WITH RETIREMENT. MAN I SURE DO LOVE THAT GUY
Brett Favre (Mississippi)
SKIP I'VE BEEN IN HERE THE WHOLE TIME NICE TO HEAR FROM YA BUDDY.
Andy (New York, NY)
Jeff Teague shouldn't win. The defender hardly tried if we are talking about the baseline jam. I wasn't that impressed.
Amy Nelson (10:59 AM)
sorry buddy but i'll mentionh how the chat is split
Amy Nelson (10:59 AM)
sorry buddy but i'll mentionh how the chat is split
Kyle (Tallahassee, Fl)
The Broncos and Cutler are both in the wrong here. Cutler is definitely being a little oversensitive, but he almost has a right to be as not only did the Bronco's try to trade him but then lied to him about it. The Bronco's need to come clean about trading him then Cutler needs to move on.
Amy Nelson (10:59 AM)
what do you people think about this situation?
AL (Grand Island, NE)
Jay Cutler is acting like any other competetive person that plays any sport no one ever wants to be traded (from a good organization) or replaced weather it be moved to another team or just not starting or getting playing time. If they don't get upset or pissed off I don't want them on my team. Recent examples are Jeff Garcia just last year and McNabb also last year. If say the Bengals , Steelers, Panthers, Giants, Colts, Chargers, Saints were in trade talks for Cassle all the involved QB's would react the same as Cutler did. Cutler is and will always be 100 times better than Cassle and will win mulitple Superbowls that Cassle will never even see unless he has a ticket to it.
Ryan , Swoyersville, PA
Kurt Warner must be losing his mind. Does he not know that the best receiver in the NFL, Fitzgerald, is in Arizona? Who does SF have? Now he realizes that he has talent in Arizona to continue his questionable hall of fame career and wants to look like a team player. Kurt i'm disappointed!!!
wayne (CO)
cutler was wronged and he should demand to be traded, especially when your new coach obviously lies to you. how can you play for him?
Amy Nelson (11:01 AM)
i say suck it up, you're a pro, deal with it. happens all the time.
Wil (Orlando, Fl)
Skip is wrong about the Cards, Warner situation. Talk about bad management, the Cards have a horrible track record yet they won't sign the one guy who got them somewhere? Give Warner the money, it's a fair deal and a good decision. The fans in Arizona did not get on board with this whole run until the NFC Championship and if you do not bring Warner back you risk losing the fans again.
Robert (WADE COUNTY,FL)
josh mcdaniels will not have the support of the locker room if he trades away jay cutler for a pick that may be a bust!
Ryan (Wilmington, NC)
Warner is bluffing!
Jeremey(Louisville)
Just sad.
Amy Nelson (11:03 AM)
I think you guys saw Michael Kim's update about the players. Very sad and must just be horrible for the families.
Kevin, C-Bus, Ohio
One of the stories reported was the Helicoptor flew right above them in the night the first nite, and one of the boaters thought they had seen a light and tried to swim to it, how greieving that must be for the family to hear, SO Sad. I buried a son at age 19 in 1999, it never gets easier.
Amy Nelson (11:04 AM)
Sorry to hear that Kevin.
Scott (B-twon)
I think it is a very sad situation. You just hate to hear that about anyone. My mom always tells me it would be the hardest to bury one of her kids. I feel real bad for their families.
AMY NELSON
Y are you trying to be me im in toronto looking for arod to inject himself with steriods who is this amy nelson on tv?
Amy Nelson (11:07 AM)
an imposter, clearly..
Justin (Utica, NY)
What do you think about Santana's Injury? Do you really think its that serious??
Amy Nelson (11:10 AM)
yes, friend of mine was trying to decide whether to keep in him a league and i said this has all the makings for trouble all season.
Aaron Cohen (Cherry Hill, New Jersey)
Skip and Rob made is obvious why I even thought the D-Mac to Arizona statement was dumb. Maybe skip is right about fan nation, sounding pretty ridiculous so far today
Chris (Plainsboro, NJ)
Amy Amy Amy...Donovan McNabb?
Amy Nelson (11:10 AM)
is this not a possibility that he will go elsewhere?
Robert (WADE COUNTY,FL)
who cares about his injury the mets will lose in the season finally against my florida marlins again!!!
Wil (Orlando, Fl)
I'd rather give a 38 yr old with Hall of Fame credentials a fair two year deal rather then hand the keys over to Matt "I look good in dancing shoes" Leinart.
john (nj)
i dont think it really matter how bad santanas injury is because the mets are still gonna choke
Kyle (Pocahontas, AR)
D-MAC is stuck in Philly! He isn't going anywhere anytime soon!
John H (Lincolnton NC)
Mcnabb needed to go to the Vikings
Allen Iverson [Detroit]
Why does Skip Bayless hate me so much? I just like to play basketball. Skip please stop hating on me, Rob Parker, you da man baby!!!!
Bryan (Upland, IN)
Iverson should be lucky that he has a bench to come off of. THe style that he plays is so selfish that he shouldnt have a team right now.
Frank (Texas)
SKIP IS THE MAN!!! The "problem" Allen Iverson needs to stay home. He is a virus on this "team." Sit AI and watch the Pistons run on all cylinders again.
Eric (Punxsy, PA)
Amy tell skip i TOTALLY agree with him on AI. If im correct pistons are 7-0 without AI
mike (palm beach, fl)
Switch to David Thorpe...this is boring
Amy Nelson (11:13 AM)
BOO!
Aaron Cohen (Cherry Hill, New Jersey)
I really want to see McNabb traded to the Broncos straight up for Jay Cutler.
Donald (Homer City, Pa)
the cards need to step up and pay kurt warner his money, he is 37 years old this is his last contract. he is a prr bowl qb and lead the cards of all teams to the super bowl pay the man his money
chris glendale az
amy i got a trade u know how boldin want out of arizona send him and a pick to pily for mcnabb. then let warner goto sf
skip bayless conneticut
cutler should go to jets, i'll give him a ride in my new brett favre truck!
Jason [California]
McNabb going to the Vikings, that would have been the greatest move ever. He would have finally had the supporting cast he has needed for so long
Dave (Richmond,VA)
Cutler is not going to ANY Super Bowl with the Broncos. Get real!!
Kyle (Pocahontas, AR)
Maybe Brett Farve should come out of retirement for the Cardinals this year!
Bryan (Upland, IN)
The broncos messed up big time with McDaniels. look at thje track record of the belichik tree. crenell is a bust in cleveland. weiss is terrible in South Bend. McDaniels standsno chance to win in Denver. he will be furedd before cutler gets traded.
Matt (Lancaster, PA)
I would have no problem with McNabb getting his walking papers in philly. I would even take Quinn off the Browns hands
Chris (Plainsboro, NJ)
Not Happening...The whole thing happened because McDaniels wanted his guy. Not a chance that they bring in a guy who has 2-3 years left. They either keep Cutler, or trade him for a pick or a young gun who McDaniels has a connection to(Brady Quinn??)
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Matt: I wish the Eagles would take Quinn too. One less NFC team the Vikes would have to worry about then.
Mikey(Yorktown, VA)
Is My boy Chris Broussard in the house today? If so can you ask him if he thinks the pistons will be a dangerous team down the stretch with Iverson coming off the bench to stop scoring droughts?
Amy Nelson (11:18 AM)
He is not, it's Andy Katz who will be with us for the dunk contest...
Jazmin (Toms River, NJ)
I don't like this move by the Seahawks getting T.J. 5-11?
Andy (New York, NY)
I need a Stephen A. Smith fix against Skip Bayless. He should be in for the Dunk Contest ratings too. He is the only one that puts Skip in his place and puts him on the defensive.
T.J. Houshmanzadeh
Where did they get that picture of me in the Seahawks jersey? I never took that. ESPN editing technique
Daniel(Hampton,VA)
If Skip is the voice of the america, im moving to Canada!
Amy Nelson (11:24 AM)
Snap,. Daniel!
Steve (Philly)
T.J. you spelled your last name wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!
John H (Lincolnton NC)
Houshmandzadeh made the right choice by going to the Seahawks if Hasselbeck is healthy they are gonna be pretty good with him and Deion Branch on the other side they just need a running back now
Matt (Boston, MA)
Amy why does espn have such a love affair with A-Rod? Are they really going to discuss whether or not A-Rod "dissed" Derek Jeter? Is there nothing in the entire sports world more worthy of airtime? Anything at all? (T.O.? Farve? Womens Field Hockey? ANYTHING???)
Amy Nelson (11:26 AM)
I knew this would be a topic today and I really think it's a non-issue.
Robert (WADE COUNTY,FL)
that was a great politically correct answer amy tell us the real truth!!
Amy Nelson (11:27 AM)
I am, I think it's a non-issue and it really was just a flip comment from someone who doesn't think about what he says very often
T.J. Houshmanzadeh
Sorry guys I did spell my name wrong...it must have been jetlag from the airplane ride to Seattle
John H (Lincolnton NC)
Im just tired of of steroids leave it alone its been goin on for years now it should be no shock by now
Chad Johnson (Ohio)
T.J!!! Take me with you. Don't leave me here by myself!!!
Adam (Ohio)
How did A-Rod diss Jeter exactly? Lol. I didn't hear about this.
Amy Nelson (11:29 AM)
just was saying what a great leadoff guy reyes is and how he wishes reyes was leading off and playing for yankees.
Amy Nelson (11:29 AM)
i really think he was just trying to continue a love fest and it wasn't a dig at jeter
Martin (Queens, NY)
A-Rod showing some appreciation for Reyes isn't dissing anyone. Jose has been the premier shortstop in the game for the past 3 years. He jump starts the Mets. Has an arm for a cannon and isn't truly appreciated unless you play with him or watch him every day.
Brian (Michigan)
Still spelled your name wrong, T.J.
Chris (Plainsboro, NJ)
Chad Johnson you spelled your name wrong! Its spelled Ocho Cinco
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I'd almost rather talk about the NBA than A-Rod at this point.
Amy Nelson (11:30 AM)
damn johnny!
Brian (Michigan)
Complementing a competitor equals dissing a teammate?
Amy Nelson (11:31 AM)
in new york city it does, don't you know that?
john (nj)
dont ya mean the WNBA Johnny
Amy Nelson (11:31 AM)
no he means the NBA
Tom (River North)
I'd rather talk about anything than ARod, or baseball in general. There should be no baseball talk until June.
Amy Nelson (11:32 AM)
wrong chat man...and why june? that's a random month. how bout, say, april, when it actually starts? that would be a better argument.
Brandon (Raleigh, NC)
is that a knock at arod or the nba?..haha
Amy Nelson (11:32 AM)
both
Rebecca (St Louis)
I like baseball.
Amy Nelson (11:32 AM)
woo hoo!
Kyle (Pocahontas, AR)
I care about this A-Rod comment about as much as the WBC...NONE!!
Amy Nelson (11:33 AM)
i think it's funny how people complain about how we talking about baseball in nov-jan, but we've beent alking about the NFL for a good part of this chat. don't we ever get an offseason from the NFL?
John H (Lincolnton NC)
I care about the WBC its kinda like the Olympics of Baseball GO USA!!!!!!!!
Amy Nelson (11:34 AM)
people keep telling me about manny being done...looks like it is and just want to shoutout enrique rojas once again.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
First A-Rod then Manny. Scott Boras is beginning to look like a chump. A very weathly chump, but a chump nonetheless.
Amy Nelson (11:36 AM)
btw, enrique rojas broke the manny story last night...
Zack (Spartanburg, South Carolina)
The WBC is GREAT! Go Team USA. It's like watching a tournament of All-Star games where the players actually have something to play for.
Adam (Tampa, FL)
Chea I can't wait to get paid Manny's is my boy you would see this if you accepted me on facebook
Amy Nelson (11:37 AM)
I don't accept stangers on facebook, as i've said before.
Amy Nelson (11:37 AM)
i'm not marcellus wiley, who's got 5k friends!
Aaron (Cherry Hill, NJ)
There were reports last night that the Manny deal was signed sealed and delivered. I wouldn't give him that much props when it still isn't official yet.
Amy Nelson (11:38 AM)
he reported that manny was en route to LA, and the deal was pretty much done. the LA times is reporting manny's in LA and the deal is done., looks like enrique was pretty spot on
Josh (Rockville)
Amy, the dunk from last night's wake maryland game has to be there
Amy Nelson (11:38 AM)
it is, it's the write-in
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
While I love baseball, I have to say I don't like the WBC using MLB guys. These players should be working out with the teams paying them all of that money so they can be ready for the regular season. If any of the superstars get hurt playing the WBC, I can see issues.
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
True, the WBC is like the Olympics for baseball. Except that it's held at a horrible time in relation to the MLB season, it's every TWO years, and the players don't seem to care. Seriously, other than Amy, how many people knew Japan won last time before the commercials?
Amy Nelson (11:40 AM)
actually it's every three years. and there's no easy solution,. i think what's cool about it is that you can see teams like south africa play and you get players from other parts of the world exposed to the play here
RJ (Boston)
WBC should delve into researching the success of soccer's world cup. Follow their script. We never hear ANY of this worry and buzz and anti- stuff, with that tournament.
Phoenix (West Houston, TX)
BREAKING NEWS.. The Dodgers and Manny Ramirez have agreeed on a 2-year $45 Million contract
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I would rather see minor leaguers playing in the WBC than the MLBers. I still think you'd get to see some good baseball.
rick colorado springs,CO
japan won? japan? really?
Amy Nelson (11:42 AM)
guys i'm about to go and do the dunk contest, and i'll be reppin your picks!
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
3 years, ouch! I see your point about the small countries...I just don't want any Mets players hurting themselves in "Exhibition" play.
Amy Nelson (11:43 AM)
fair enough
Eric Detroit
Did skip say all up in the grill, lol.
Amy Nelson (11:52 AM)
see your voice was heard and now you and skip are aligned...
Josh (Rockville)
yea he did THAT DUNk WAS SO SICK'
Daniel(Hampton,VA)
Amy, you should of told skip im moving to canada.
Justin (utica, NY)
I want to know who picks these dunks? The "Tip-in" should have never made it on the show
Amy Nelson (11:56 AM)
i dont know, good question...
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I actually wish there was a way I could watch the dunks from work. I feel so left out when you do the dunk contest stuff.
Amy Nelson (11:56 AM)
you can youtube em
Greg (Detroit, MI)
AMY! You rule. They should wait to hear from us, the fans, about which dunks should be nominated and show the nominations at the midway point of the show.
Amy Nelson (11:57 AM)
yeah i see your point but it takes too much work to put it all together
Josh (Richmond, Mi)
It should have been a clean sweep of College dunks on todays contest. Paul harris, Teague, and hendersons dunk.
Amy Nelson (11:58 AM)
totally agree..k guys i'm out for todeay. won't be back next week, will be in toronto but back the week after. have a good one!
