Tim Graham (2:41 PM)
Hello, everybody. I'm ready to go a little early from the home office in Coral Springs, Fla. Let's get started with the questions already queued up.
Matt Ubriaco (Sunrise, FL)
Why is everyone saying the dolphins are going to draft a LB with their first round pick? with the resigning of Crowder and addition of Wake, I would think WR and CB are more pressing needs. I don't see how the phins can pass on Hakeem Nicks if he's still there. He seems like a perfect fit for Miami.
Tim Graham (2:42 PM)
I don't think the Dolphins are satisfied with their linebacking as it currently exists. Crowder signed for a little better than backup money. I believe the Dolphins still intend to upgrade there.
Nicole, Orlando
Hey Tim! Glad to see a female on here, aren't ya?! :) I just wanted to see what your reaction was to the Pats not resigning Heath Evans and letting him go to the Saints. He was a great FB for us! Who do you think we will go after to replace him?
Tim Graham (2:49 PM)
This is refreshing. Thanks for stopping by and upgrading the clientele. I'm not sure how the Patriots will address their fullback vacancy. While Evans brought a lot to the locker room and special teams, fullbacks are about as interchangeable as kickers. The Patriots use a lot of one-back sets, so this isn't a devastating loss.Maybe they bring Kyle Eckel back.
Mo (Columbus, OH)
Tim, you showed up 20 minutes early. What gives?
Tim Graham (2:49 PM)
It's all about spending time with my people.
michael tompkinsville, ky
Great to have you back, Tim. I really enjoy these chats. Who besides Eric Green has Miami met with to hopefully replace Goodman? Could Bodden be a fit?
Tim Graham (2:52 PM)
I know only of Green visiting so far, but I think the preference was to re-sign Goodman. The Dolphins might be getting into the game a little late, but Leigh Bodden and Bryant McFadden still are out there. Corey Ivy might be a better value.
teddy (buff)
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK THE BILLS SHOULD DO NEXT IN FREE AGENCY
Tim Graham (2:53 PM)
The Bill must find a way to upgrade their O-line, but there aren't a lot of options out there. As disgusted as fans are with Jason Peters, the Bills need to give him a better contract and keep him around.
Vincent (Boston, MA)
Isn't the whole Cassel saga now a bit tired? What's the big deal? The Pats needed cap room for the pending signings of Sanders, Baker and Taylor, the Chiefs had a 'worse' offer except for the part where they didn't need to hash out a new contract with Cassel. The Patriots looked at the time constraints, factored in the fact that Cassel might not want to sign a long term deal this offseason in order to maximize his earning potential, and pulled the trigger. It's so obvious I don't understand terrible columnists like Jay Mariotti are getting their panties in a bunch about it.
Tim Graham (2:56 PM)
The first day of free agency was established a year ago. They knew when it was coming. There should have been no reason to rush. They should have explored every possibility long before Feb. 27. The Patriots either misread the market or chose not to accept a first-round pick. If it's the latter, a lot of fans would like to know why. So would I.
Tony (Bay Area, CA)
Tim, Do you think my fins are smart for signing an injury prone Grove to Center when they could have just added a little bit more to the contract and signed Jason Brown (who didn't really want to play in St.Louis and wanted to come to Miami).
Tim Graham (2:57 PM)
The Dolphins didn't have a shot at Jason Brown. He visited with only the St. Louis Rams with a good idea he would sign there. Brown didn't make another visit.
Louis (Whitewater, WI)
Do you think Miami will draft a WR this year? Ginn is just a deep threat and Camarillo and Bess seem like slot recievers. I think Nicks could develop into the over the middle guy they desperately need.
Tim Graham (2:58 PM)
I'd be surprised if the Dolphins drafted a receiver early.
Joe (Wichita, KS)
Tim, Since the Bills do not have a legitimate playmaker across from Lee Evans, do you see them picking up another receiver in the draft (like Hakeem Nicks from UNC - that guy has sticky hands)?
Tim Graham (2:59 PM)
I could see that. But I think they're looking more closely at pass rushers.
Mike (Philly)
Do you miss Duffs' wings in Buffalo? Any chance the Bills move Jason Peters? He would be a great addition to the Eagles line. If they would move him, what do you think it would take?
Tim Graham (3:00 PM)
I'm really missing Duff's now that you reminded me ... The Bills could move Jason Peters, but I predict they won't. They have enough holes on their line as it is.
Jorge E. (Honduras)
hey tim, giving the rumors surrounding the patriots, which is most likely to happen, trading Julius Peppers or signing Jason Taylor ??, or in a (bad) case, none.
Tim Graham (3:01 PM)
Taylor would be easier to obtain. He also might come cheaper. He's the prototypical Patriots free agent, up in years and hungry enough for a championship he might take a discount.
Joe (Wichita, KS)
Since the Bills signed Hangartner, do you think they'll still pursue Alex Mack or Unger and move Hangartner to guard?
Tim Graham (3:04 PM)
No. 11 is way too early to draft a center. If either of those guys are still around in the second round, however, I'm sure they'll consider it. Center is deep this year, but not elite enough to snag one right away.
Andy (Rochester, NY)
I miss Conan
Tim Graham (3:04 PM)
My nights will be changed forever.
Justin Behling (Boyceville, WI)
Hey Tim, how are the Jets ever gonna replace Brett Favre?
Tim Graham (3:04 PM)
Easily.
Xander (Philly)
Any news on Cato June? I think he'd be a great addition to the Bills LB core.
Tim Graham (3:05 PM)
June doesn't have many options. Teams are moving to 3-4 defenses, and he doesn't translate to that style. So the Bills might have time to make a move on him.
Jim (Franklin, IN)
Haven't heard much more about Corey Ivy. With the trade for Lito Sheppard, is Rex Ryan satisfied at CB for now?
Tim Graham (3:07 PM)
I've heard that talks between the Jets and Ivy have cooled, but there's still interest. If he's still out of work in a few days, maybe talks will heat up again.
Joe (Lusby, MD)
Who has the best back-up QB in the division now?
Tim Graham (3:08 PM)
The Dolphins: Chad Henne. But that's by default. We don't know who it will be in New England or New York yet. But based on the current depth charts, I'd want Henne as my backup.
Tom (Cincinnati)
Do you think Bill Belichick will still hate Eric Mangini for leaving or is he over it?
Tim Graham (3:09 PM)
If Bill Belichick hates Eric Mangini, it's not because he left.
Matthew (New Philadelphia, OH)
will the jets draft a qb in the first round?
Tim Graham (3:10 PM)
There's a possibility of that. If Mark Sanchez is around, they might not be able to pass him up.
Justin, Danville, CA
With Lynch likely getting 2-4 games. Who do you seeing sharing the load with Freddy Jax? K. Jones, D. Foster, X.Oman?
Tim Graham (3:11 PM)
Whichever veteran they sign. Not Oman.
Bills Nation
We want Aaron Maybin opposite Schobel. Also 170,000 on brickbreaker?! You are a warrior.
Tim Graham (3:12 PM)
I'm over 177,000 now. I had to get in a few stages before the chat. I know. I'm ill. I know that Maybin is on the Bills' radar. He'll be strongly considered.
Jim New York, NY
With all the backs coming to One Bills Drive is there a chance they are thinking of moving him and trying to get another high draft pick or offensive playmaker? Freddie Jackson did do very well when he replaced Marshawn and that may have opened some eyes.
Tim Graham (3:12 PM)
Marshawn Lynch isn't going anywhere unless he screws up again. That, of course, guarantees nothing.
Matthew (New Philadelphia, OH)
where else could the jets go in the first round i dont see any other glaring need besides reciever?
Tim Graham (3:13 PM)
A defensive end wouldn't hurt.
Dwayne (Glendale, AZ)
Excellent work on our AFC East Blog Tim! With the phins shoring up the OL, do you forsee the use of the wild cat more or less? I, for one, wouldn't mind them still using it and getting a "SLASH" type player that can run, catch, or pass to keep defenses on their toes.
Tim Graham (3:14 PM)
The Dolphins will keep the Wildcat in their repertoire. I predict they'll use it about as much as they did last year.
Tim Graham (3:15 PM)
As for "slash" players, I would envision them targeting some undrafted rookies and bringing them to camp for a look-see.
Paul (Albion NY)
Hey Tim, why do the bills ALWAYS become a much worse team after free agency begins. The average free agency period for the bills consists of losing 2 or 3 quality starters. Unfortunately we replace those good players with backups from other teams. What gives? 7-9 must be good enough I guess.....
Tim Graham (3:16 PM)
I wouldn't get too worked up about what the Bills have or haven't done in free agency. Not yet anyway. We're in the second wave of signings. Teams make a lot of mistakes by getting active in free agency too early. There are decent values out there. The prices will drop a bit on the second-tier guys.
Dave (Schenectady)
Who's going to be the Pats 3rd receiver?
Tim Graham (3:16 PM)
I would expect Greg Lewis.
Lee (San Jose)
Tim, come talk to me when you reach 234,000
Tim Graham (3:17 PM)
I'll hit that without any trouble. I have 47 lives left. It's a matter of how bored I get with playing a never-ending game.
David Ropp Urbana,Ohio
Do you think the Jets made a good move firing Eric Mangini?
Tim Graham (3:19 PM)
I'm not convinced Eric Mangini deserved to be fired, but Rex Ryan will prove to be an upgrade.
Rich (Hoboken, NJ)
Why do you answer questions with obvious answers? What matchup do you see deciding the AFC East? Give me the teams and the location.
Tim Graham (3:19 PM)
Here's the obvious answer, genius: The schedule hasn't been determined yet.
Adam (Jersey)
Do you think Angelo Crowell re-signs with the Bills? Or will Tampa lock him up before he leaves there?
Tim Graham (3:20 PM)
Not a chance Crowell comes back to Buffalo. Beyond that, I have no inside info on where he'll land, but Tampa is a good fit for him.
Lee (San Jose)
Tim, you must have been one of those kids that beat Tyson in Punch Out, but could never prove it.
Tim Graham (3:22 PM)
Funny story on that ... It took me probably two years to get past the guy right before Tyson, the guy with the spinning punch. I would get bored with the game and not play it for weeks then get back at it. I hated getting to that dude, losing and then having to start over with Glass Joe. I refused to use the cheat code.
Tim Graham (3:22 PM)
Finally, I beat that guy and fought Tyson. And I beat Tyson the first time I faced him. He had that blink that told you when the big punch was coming. I got lucky. But it's true.
josh (buffalo, NY)
Tyson code was 007-373-5963
Tim Graham (3:23 PM)
I wish I still had that game.
Super Macho Man (Punch Out Guy)
I own you Tim Graham!!!
Tim Graham (3:24 PM)
That bastard! Although I despised Don Flamenco even more.
Jon (Virginia)
Hey Tim, awesome blog! DO you think the dlophins will repeat as afc east champions or will the pats reclaim their throne?
Tim Graham (3:25 PM)
The Dolphins will experience a significant drop off. Teams that have such a huge single-season improvement generally slide by three or four games the following year. The schedule is a rugged one for the entire AFC East. If the Jets can get consistent QB play, I like their chances to give the Patriots a run.
Frank Grimes, Springfield:
everything comes easy for you huh tim
Tim Graham (3:25 PM)
Good ol' Grimey.
Wes Mantoothe (San Diego, CA)
Hey Tim, last night you took my mother Dorothy Mantoothe out for a seafood dinner and you have yet to call her back. What gives?
Tim Graham (3:27 PM)
She loved my Sex Panther cologne, too. Let's just say she was in the 60 percent.
Stan (SUNY Morrisville)
Hey Tim great blog man, Anyways do you realistically see the Bills land either Keiho or June, along with a WR (preferably Holt if he gets released)?
Tim Graham (3:28 PM)
Based on the visits, the Bills obviously want a veteran linebacker. I'm going to predict Cato June is the guy, but that's a pure hunch.
ken griffey jrs winning home run
when is the nfl expected to announce the schedule?
Tim Graham (3:29 PM)
Usually in April.
Steiny (NYC)
Tim what's going on?
Tim Graham (3:29 PM)
Bad things, man. Baaaaaaaaaaaaad things ...
Mike Tyson
After you hit me Tim, I faded into Bolivian...
Tim Graham (3:30 PM)
So did I, Mike.
Tim Graham (3:30 PM)
Great line, by the way. I was at that fight ... Lennox Lewis in Memphis.
Steven (Providence, R.I.)
Tim, do you think the Phins would be interested in Roy Williams?
Tim Graham (3:32 PM)
Only if he comes cheaply. They already have their starting safeties with Yeremiah Bell and Gibril Wilson.
Hey Steve
The Bills want Roy Williams.
Tim Graham (3:33 PM)
He'd be an upgrade over Bryan Scott if the Bills want to move Donte Whitner to free safety.
Jared (Providence via Buffalo)
Hey Tim. I followed the link from TBD to get here. What do you think the Bills are going to do in free agency for the linebacker position? They have brought in a few guys, I thought June might stick given his history in the 3-4 D. Does Mike Peterson have anything left in the tank? Thanks
Tim Graham (3:35 PM)
Good people over at TBD. ... The Bills are going to sign a veteran linebacker. But I'm not sure how the interviews and physicals have gone. I think Bills fans should be happy with June, Keiaho or Peterson.
Jordan ( New York)
Well that's good news, I thought Donte was considering to move to FS
Tim Graham (3:35 PM)
That was speculation on my part, but I think it might happen.
HP in PA
Did someone really ask if we are interested in Roy Williams? Didn't we just spend $50 million + on our safeties?
Tim Graham (3:36 PM)
It's a reflex. Any time a Cowboy gets released, we're obligated by law to consider him reuniting with Bill Parcells. If we don't, it's a $500 fine.
Bald Bull
You got lucky vs me Timmy!
Tim Graham (3:37 PM)
Bald Bull was inordinately tough for how early you had to face him.
Rafuko (Oakland, CA)
Tim, when are you retiring? I need a job!
Tim Graham (3:38 PM)
Based on the current job market, I hope I get to retire on my own volition. I'm 37, so check back in three decades.
brian (de)
Which AFC east team is Torry Holt most like going to be playing for in September?
Tim Graham (3:39 PM)
All four teams potentially could look at him. Hard to say. I'm not hearing any insider info on Holt.
Tim Graham: (ESPN):
you are not 37 you liar you are well over 40
Tim Graham (3:39 PM)
38 in July
Matt
I'm a Colts fan, and I'm a little mystified over the team cutting ties with Keiaho without even apparently considering him as a backup. He is a hard hitter but is extremely inconsistent and not very good in pass coverage. Just an FYI for all of the Bills fans out there...
Tim Graham (3:40 PM)
Thanks for the scouting report, Matt.
Hi all
So Timmy... whats it like having ur own wiki page?
Tim Graham (3:41 PM)
I just found that a few weeks ago. It's kind of scary, actually.
Chris, NY
From what you've seen so far, who is better right now, Edwards or Fitzpatrick?
Tim Graham (3:41 PM)
Edwards is the better quarterback. There shouldn't be any QB controversy in Buffalo -- for a change.
Rye ( NJ)
Who has the best uniform in the afc east?
Tim Graham (3:42 PM)
I'm a big fan of the Bills and Jets throwbacks.
Mikey(Lackawanna,NY)
Do you think Drayton Florence was a good signing for the Buffalo Bills?
Tim Graham (3:43 PM)
I do. He's a veteran presence that provides a safety net while the ease Leodis McKelvin into the starting lineup. They would have preferred to have Jabari Greer back, but they couldn't wait on him forever.
Steiny (NYC)
Is it true that Edgerton Hartwell is going to become a New York Jet?
Tim Graham (3:44 PM)
I haven't heard that ... But I'll check. I covered Eddie Hartwell (as he was known then) when he was playing for Cheyenne High in Las Vegas. Great kid.
Jeremy (FINS BABY)
Tim I AM BACK ONCE AGAIN. One question, do you have an adequate La Spada's rating for me yet? You said you needed to try more sandwiches last I heard
Tim Graham (3:45 PM)
I'll score it an 8 out of 10. I like it a lot (it's a sub shop in Davie, Fla.)
Chris (NE CT)
Hey, Tim. I'm surprised nobody's asked this question yet. What are the Patriots going to do about their sieve (a.k.a their secondary)? Is Rodney Harrison still around for next year? Do they hand safety over to Brandon Merriwether? Is Shawn Springs the answer? Is Ellis Hobbs even the answer? Can you clear things up?
Tim Graham (3:46 PM)
I'm not sure whether Rodney Harrison is coming back, but they are high on Brandon Meriweather. Whether or not he's ready is the question. It looks like Hobbs and Springs will be the starters at cornerback.
Steiny (NYC)
Tim, I just wanted to thank you for naming me the MVP last chat. I appreciate it my friend.
Tim Graham (3:47 PM)
You're a producer. If I'm filling out my chat starting lineup, you're hitting third.
Rich (Hoboken, NJ)
Thanks for responding to my question... although it wasn't a real response. Now I just think I will throw up a random quote, "Flossing??? Where'd I get Munson from?"
Tim Graham (3:49 PM)
Rich, you asked me to name the AFC East game of the year and where it will be played. The schedule isn't out yet. Stop being such a hammerhead.
Tim Graham (3:50 PM)
But here you go: Jets-Bills in Week 7 at the Meadowlands. Human existence will hinge on it.
Xander (Philly)
Oh come on Tim! My questions are money and my humor is off the charts! I gotta be the lead off baby!
Tim Graham (3:50 PM)
Ed Hochuli is clean up.
the chat room calling you out
do you and steiny have a bromance?
Tim Graham (3:51 PM)
So what if we do?
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
That's illegal procedure against Rich (Hoboken) for complaining about the chat, 5 yards and it remains 2nd down.
Tim Graham (3:51 PM)
See what I mean? The guy's a machine.
Scared of Ed Hochuli (Everywhere, USA)
When are they gonna start testing officials for steriods?
Tim Graham (3:52 PM)
Good question.
Jimbo, Brooklyn
So the additions and Rex put the JEts into the elite defense conversation in the NFL no (on paper, obviously, they still gotta play the games)?
Tim Graham (3:52 PM)
They're still a defensive end away from reaching that status.
Ben (nyc)
Worst Jimmy Fallon moment so far?
Tim Graham (3:53 PM)
Any time he speaks and I have to listen to his lisp.
Jason (Spokane, WA)
Tim, you don't talk a lot about football in this AFC East blog...
Tim Graham (3:53 PM)
You're obviously new here.
Jerry
This has to be the most completely random and useless chat I've ever sat in on.
Tim Graham (3:54 PM)
And yet here you are ...
Xander (Philly)
I'll bet you a dime T.O. is a Bill this year.
Tim Graham (3:54 PM)
I'll take that wager.
Terrell Owens
Me in Foxboro? Do you want to see it? Do you think it has any chance of happening?
Tim Graham (3:56 PM)
It sure would be fun to watch. Could it happen? If Owens makes it easy for the Patriots to sign him? Maybe. But I highly doubt it.
mike buffalo ,ny
Dont you think TO going to the Bills is what they need? I mean he brings attitude, publicity, and attention. So what if it may affect their chemistry, their chemistry hasnt done a damn thing for them in 9 years! Also he would speak the truth of why the bills lost games, not just the stupid comments that its hard to win games in the nfl... come on now.. honest opinon!
Tim Graham (3:56 PM)
That job's already filled: Marshawn Lynch.
Glass Joe (Does it really matter?)
I am the worst excuse for a boxer in the history of video games! Why did I even exist?
Tim Graham (3:57 PM)
You have to get people hooked on the game with an easy win.
Jeremy (Miami)
Tim, any word on how Camarillo is recovering? Or if Brandon London is going to be seeing a bigger role this year? Thanks Teddy
Tim Graham (3:59 PM)
I've been told Camarillo is ahead of schedule and should be ready for camp. The Dolphins like London because of what he brings to special teams, but if they sign another WR, he could be the odd man out. There's only so many reps to go around.
Justin olean,ny
Tim heres a real good question for you. Given what has already happen in the afc east in the offseason and free agency how do you see the division standings?
Tim Graham (4:01 PM)
A lot of that depends on what the Patriots do with their $18 million ... But as of today: 1. Patriots; 2. Jets; 3. Dolphins; 4. Bills.
marshawn lynch
dont worry, mama's tightening my leash
Tim Graham (4:02 PM)
Based on that San Francisco Chronicle story I read, it sure read like that was going to happen.
Jim Tampa
I want a Sahlens from Teds!
Tim Graham (4:03 PM)
The best part about Ted's? The fries.
Steve
Jets at 2 , are you hanging out with Marshawn. They do not have a QB
Tim Graham (4:03 PM)
Neither did the Ravens or Falcons heading into last year.
Steiny (NYC)
Bromance buddy. Do you think the Jets will go into opening day with Jericho Cotchery and David Clowney as there starters? Or will they go with Cotch and Chansi Stuckey?
Tim Graham (4:05 PM)
Not sure what the Jets will do. They needed to tweak their receiving corps before Coles walked, so I would imagine they'll be looking for help in free agency or the draft.
Drinkin' Buddy (everywhere)
Tim, what city do you reside in?
Tim Graham (4:06 PM)
Coral Springs, Fla.
Brett (Houston, TX)
Steiny might be cheating on you; I see him in a bunch of chats. So yes, I go to chats, too, but I'm just sayin'.
Tim Graham (4:06 PM)
We have an open relationship.
Mike - Rochester, NY
Which Bills 2nd year WR puts up more yards this year? James Hardy or Steve Johnson?
Tim Graham (4:07 PM)
Steve Johnson. Of course, Hardy is coming off a late-season knee injury, so he could get off to a slow start. But the Bills are high on Johnson's future.
Jim Tampa
You're not kidding Tim, a single order of Ted's fries can feed a family of 5. As for the Bills...any Guard worth taking at #11?
Tim Graham (4:08 PM)
No interior lineman is worth No. 11. ... and the onion rings aren't bad either.
Chris, NY
The Bills seem to have decent starters, its just they have no depth once injuries start piling up. Correct?
Tim Graham (4:08 PM)
That's been the case for years.
Drew (Buffalo)
Hey Tim, I heard you on with Bulldog. Possible move back here? I see a lot of crazy Swannie nights in the future....
Tim Graham (4:09 PM)
The Swannie House in downtown Buffalo is my favorite bar in the country.
Jeremy (Easton, Pa)
Buffalo has Babin and Peterson visiting today. The Bills remind me of when my wife drags me into an antique store. Everybody wants to go in and take a look but nobody's buying.
Clocko (NYC)
Funnier Jets reciever name: Stuckey, Clowney, or Jericho
Tim Graham (4:10 PM)
Clowney. What's even funnier is that he drives a tiny car.
Jay(Buffalo,NY)
Tim , Rumor is you are moving back to Buffalo, any truth to that?
Tim Graham (4:10 PM)
True.
Jeff (East Bay, CA)
Assuming their roster is as they stand now...If you are the Jets, do you go WR or CB (hopefully Vontae Davis) in the first round?
Tim Graham (4:12 PM)
Between the two, I would go receiver. Dwight Lowery already is on their roster and can develop into a serviceable starter at corner opposite Revis next year or the year after.
Tim Graham (4:13 PM)
Cornerbacks take a while to mature. You'll notice the corners drafted highly last year (McKelvin, Wilhite) didn't contribute much until late in the season.
Secretary of Labor (Hooverville)
Thanks, Tim. Buffalo could use all the gainfully employed people it can get. But why Buffalo, Tim?
Tim Graham (4:15 PM)
I worked there for many years. I have a lot of friends there, and it's a three-hour drive to my hometown of Cleveland.
Trevor, TB
Is Coles overpaid?
Tim Graham (4:17 PM)
Highly.
Scott Pioli (unpacking in KC)
I fleeced Belichick, didn't I?
Tim Graham (4:18 PM)
Fleeced is the wrong word because it infers Belichick didn't know what he was doing. But I would love to know what he was thinking.
Chris St. Petersburg, Florida
What do you think the Dolphins chances are of getting Hakeem Nicks with our first pick?
Tim Graham (4:19 PM)
I would be shocked if Bill Parcells would sign off on drafting a receiver in the first round.
Tarantino Foods (Buffalo, NY)
Who gets a job in the league first, Pacman or Vick?
Tim Graham (4:20 PM)
Vick. He's hasn't gotten his second chance yet.
Justin Olean,Ny
Thanks Tim for answering my question. My personal feelings is that Jets will be 1 then pats, phins and buffalo. This is my last question what do you think is the biggest reason for Bills would be last?
Tim Graham (4:21 PM)
The Jets could emerge as the team to beat, but until I see Tom Brady struggle, I'm convinced he'll lead the Patriots.
Tom(Harrisburg, PA)
Its not likely but a Bills trade of Marshawn Lynch and a first to the Cardinals for Boldin would be a good fit for both teams right? Bills need a big body to go over the middle and the Cardinals need a back. I also think Fred Jackson is the better back than Marshawn.
Tim Graham (4:22 PM)
Lynch will remain a Bill. I'm confident in that. But I do think the Bills are looking for backfield help because of the possible (and likely) suspension.
Steiny (NYC)
The following is from Laveranues Coles' press conference. "I know I wanted to play with a good quarterback," he said, alluding to Carson Palmer. "That was one of the biggest (considerations) in where I wanted to go." Is he bashing the Jets there?
Tim Graham (4:22 PM)
Sure sounds like it. Maybe the Bills, too.
Dan (Hyannis)
Lots of people are saying that the Cassel trade means that Brady is (or will be) healthy. Do you think that's necessarily true? Belechick likes/(needs) to spread the wealth. Maybe he simply couldn't afford Cassel.
Tim Graham (4:23 PM)
The Patriots made an educated gamble. There are no guarantees, but they had to roll the dice to clear the cap space.
Bryan-MA
Would a team consider signing Roy Williams and make him a OLB?
Tim Graham (4:24 PM)
That wouldn't happen. But maybe if he agreed to take the league minimum salary while somebody tried the experiment ...
Shawn (oh)
has buffalo become the laughing stock of the league?
Tim Graham (4:25 PM)
No, that's still Cincinnati.
Dom Anconya
tim do you know the muffin man?
Tim Graham (4:26 PM)
Of the Drury Lane muffin men? Oh, yes. I know him.
BOSTON THE CITY
why is my city filled with idiots
Tim Graham (4:26 PM)
Why should yours be any different?
Bill, NE
Laughingstock?...uh, Detroit?
Tim Graham (4:27 PM)
I'd still hate being a Bengals fan more than a Lions fan. The criminal element would be the difference in my mind. But Tatum Bell and Matt Millen ... eh, I can be swayed.
Tom(Harrisburg PA)
Who wins in a fight Billy Mays or the guy from the ShamWow adds?
Tim Graham (4:29 PM)
Unless the SamWow guy knows martial arts, Billy Mays stomps him.
Miles Rutter, (Jersey City, Jersey)
Hey Tim, hottest disney character? I'd go with princess jasmine
Tim Graham (4:30 PM)
What about Ariel from "The Little Mermaid?"
Adam (NY)
Will Roscoe Parrish get cut/traded?
Tim Graham (4:30 PM)
I don't see that at all.
Anthony (NYC)
Tim should the Jets look into getting Igor Olshansky or Marques Douglas, this way they could rotate at DE in 3-4 scheme?
Tim Graham (4:33 PM)
Olshansky is a viable option for a lot of teams. I like him a lot. Rex Ryan, of course, knows Douglas. That could help the Jets quite a bit.
Steiny (NYC)
Not to be rude or anything Tim, but Anthony just asked the same question on Jeremy Green's chat. Word for word.
Tim Graham (4:34 PM)
WHAT?!?!?!
Steiny (NYC)
This was Green's answer. Olshansky is the better player.. Dougles knows the system. Jets need DE help and I think both bring a little something different. Douglas is an original Raven which would help in the locker room.
Billy Buffalo
Any chance the Bills trade for Scheffler from Denver or Waters from KC?
Tim Graham (4:37 PM)
If the Bills haven't checked in with the Broncos on Scheffler yet, they should. As for the Brian Waters rumor, I've heard it, but I haven't gotten it substantiated. KC Star columnist Jason Whitlock has written the Chiefs won't trade Waters. But I also remember Bill Parcells saying right into my ear he wasn't going to trade Jason Taylor.
Jon (Boston)
Arielle can't hold a candle to Jessica Rabbit!
Tim Graham (4:39 PM)
I may have to agree with you there.
Mike (Ny)
I might die if Jason Taylor ends up in a New England uniform.
Tim Graham (4:39 PM)
Make sure your will is updated.
Rick-Lowell, MA
"Cornerbacks take a while to mature. You'll notice the corners drafted highly last year (McKelvin, Wilhite) didn't contribute much until late in the season." Wilhite was a 4th rounder...
Tim Graham (4:40 PM)
Ok ... How about Terrence Wheatley (second round, one start)?
Jarred (WinstonSalemNC)
so with the holes in miami's roster slowly getting filled in... what position will the Big Tuna take with the 25th pick?
Tim Graham (4:42 PM)
Linebacker remains their biggest Parcells-oriented need. I know they re-signed Crowder, but that was because he slashed his price to remain with the Dolphins.
Jesse (portland OR)
Why is there so much hubbub about Jason Taylor. He is REALLY old, and if I have missed something I appologize but he really didn't look very good in Washington. Is he over the hill?
Tim Graham (4:42 PM)
He had that freak calf injury. It will be easy for teams to justify signing him by treating 2008 as an anomaly.
Isaac (Go Pats)
Didn't Wheatley hurt his wrist that's plagued him for years, and that's what kept him from starting? I thought he had beat Deltha O'Crap you ran past me again/was that my man to cover, for the starting job but tore up his wrist again.
Tim Graham (4:44 PM)
Fernando Bryant was the starter throughout training camp and then got cut for Deltha O'Neal.
Tim Graham (4:44 PM)
McKelvin was the first cornerback taken in last year's draft, and if not for injuries he wouldn't have started a game.
KV from IL
I don't think you should let Parcells whisper in your ear anymore.
Tim Graham (4:45 PM)
It was over a cell phone. If you perceived a man whispering in another man's ear, that was imagery concocted in your head. Says more about you than it does about me. Not that there's anything wrong with that ...
Drew (Buffalo)
DRC didn't start until injuries, then stepped in and was the best corner on the Cardinals roster.
Steiny (NYC)
Are you ready to put the BUST title on Vernon Gholston?
Tim Graham (4:46 PM)
I'm going to give him another year before I do that.
Billy Buffalo
Can Trent Edwards win consistently in the NFL with the right supporting cast?
Tim Graham (4:47 PM)
Yes, but with a supporting cast. He's a game manager. He needs some personnel to conduct.
leodis mckelvin
i was pretty sweet last year
Tim Graham (4:47 PM)
There were some flashes of greatness.
Caveman (Prague)
Who would you rather have at guard? Derrick Dockery or a ham sandwich? ...or that money you could be saving on Geico?
Tim Graham (4:48 PM)
Ham sandwich ... then Dockery ... then money with googly eyes.
Nicky no pants, Buffalo
Can we agree that there is not a single thing buffalo does as well as new england??
Tim Graham (4:49 PM)
The Bills punt better.
Xander (Philly)
As unlikely as it is, I'm just curious to what your reaction would be if the Bills landed T.O. Impressed? Appalled? Good move? Bad move?
Tim Graham (4:50 PM)
Amused. And, as a reporter, excited to cover him in a small-market setting.
Dr Von Clocktower, Slayerville
Timmy, we all know you never played sports in high school, who gave you this job??
Tim Graham (4:51 PM)
You know something I don't then. Either that, or all my drinking must be giving me false memories.
alex (jacksonville Fl)
Hey Tim, Im just wandering why my questoins about football were not answered but this guys question about a ham sandwich is answered?
Tim Graham (4:52 PM)
Send your questions again and I'll make sure they get the ham-sandwich treatment.
Steiny (NYC)
Tim, what are your favorite TV shows? American Idol, Lost, Dancing With The Stars?
Tim Graham (4:53 PM)
I don't watch any of those. Simpsons ... Intervention ... Cops ... Maury ... Real Time with Bill Maher ... I miss Deadwood and Six Feet Under.
Jeff (East Bay, CA)
Don't listen to the haters Tim...us weekly faithful have your back. Keep it up, you have one of the best chats on ESPN!
Tim Graham (4:54 PM)
Thanks, Jeff. We're closing in on 1,000 questions.
Drew (Buffalo)
Curb your enthusiasm?
Tim Graham (4:54 PM)
Add that to my list.
KV from IL
The ham sandwich question was funny.
Tim Graham (4:56 PM)
I agree. Funny questions will get precedence over one about some third-tier free agent or what I think the Jets will do in the third round. As if I know ... or anybody would even give a hoot.
alex (Jacksonville Fl)
Lol alright but i expect the same treatment not less.. Besides the tunas history of not taking WR early. What other resaons are there for him not taking one this year?? Also what do you think they will do with ronnie after this year?
Tim Graham (4:58 PM)
Receivers usually aren't worth high-pick money. Keep in mind the Dolphins' game-day receiving corps consisted of only one player that was drafted at all. Greg Camarillo, Davone Bess and Brandon London weren't drafted. Ronnie Brown will be Miami's running back unless he wants to split.
Zach (Boise, ID)
Wow, meaningful football and nearly worthless but amuseful commentary in one chatroom. I will be stopping by more often... Do you really think any of the current QB's on the Jets roster can lead that team? Clemens sounds like he matured a lot (based on his interview with espn) and maybe even enough to lead...
Tim Graham (5:00 PM)
The Jets are confident they have a guy who can manage the team. Rex Ryan made it to the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer and the AFC championship game with Joe Flacco.
Ken Keniff, Conneticut
Is it true that Tom Brady impregnated 3 other cover models DURING his wedding to Gisele??
Tim Graham (5:01 PM)
Just by looking at them.
Schizo (padded cell, Buffalo)
So far I've got 3 questions through as: Drinkin' Buddy Secretary of Labor (Hooverville) Caveman (Prague) and none were really about football. Is the E in ESPN more important than the S?
Tim Graham (5:02 PM)
Apparently it means more to you. Otherwise, you would have asked a sports question.
Kenny Banya (NYC)
Ham sandwich?!?!?! That's GOLD Jerry! GOLD! Hey...can I use that?
Tim Graham (5:02 PM)
Banya's a hack.
Tim Graham (5:03 PM)
I'm staying until we hit 1,000 questions. We're closing in.
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
That's a personal foul against Schizo, incessant whining about the chat and ESPN, 15 yards and it remains 3rd down.
Roger, Bolivia
Answer my Safety question tim. why havent the Bills looked to upgrade!?
Tim Graham (5:04 PM)
How do you know they haven't? Just because they haven't signed one doesn't mean they haven't looked.
Drew (Buffalo)
This chat is awesome.
Tim Graham (5:05 PM)
I agree.
Jeremy (Miami)
Okay I have a serious question, if ESPN is entertainment and sports than why don't they cover professional wrestling?? ITS SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT!
Tim Graham (5:05 PM)
You make a solid point.
Why dont you
ever answer my questions?
Tim Graham (5:06 PM)
Because they're shallow and pedantic.
Chris, NY
What will you do with the 1000th question, frame it?
Tim Graham (5:06 PM)
Nope. Just sign off. You were 1,004. Thanks everybody. See you next week.
joe, ny
Am I the 1000th Question!?!?!?!?
Tim Graham (5:07 PM)
1,013 ... Close!
