Welcome to The Show! On Monday, we'll have another historic day as ESPN.com fantasy sports expert Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto - takes a shot at the SportsNation chat record. As he nears the record, the chat will get so big that we'll have to switch to another chat room. Berry will start in this room at 5 p.m. ET, seven hours into his record attempt.
It was back on MLB's 2008 Opening Day that Rob Neyer chatted from first pitch to last pitch and set the current mark of 12 hours, 1 minute. Now, the one and only Matthew Berry takes a shot at the hallowed record.
Fantasy baseball season is back and so is the TMR. Berry goes for the chat record to talk sleepers, busts, closers in waiting, rankings, keeper questions, the Anne Hathaway/Megan Fox debate, his dating life, minor league guys to watch, the ESPN Party at the Super Bowl and anything else you can think of. He's going to try and chat for over 12 hours so chances are if you ask, he'll answer!

Why do you feel that pitching is so undervalued in early rounds of fantasy baseball? I did a mock draft today and was able to get a staff of Lincecum, Hamels, Peavey, CM Wang, Miche, Frank Francisco, Greinke and K Rod. Seems like I would have of bargaining chips with a staff like that.

Yes, I think he does win the gig and no question, he will steal. There's lot of guys like that - cheapish sources of speed.... which is why I say you don't need to pay for steals at the draft this year. To start, yes, on AL Only or would have to be at least a 14 team mix

I discuss this in more detail in my draft day manifesto... but yes, genrally I bring a laptop if it's a league I care about. If not, I'll just bring a rankings list and a piece of paper. But if I am trying, I bring a laptop with a draft program, a list of rankis/projections and a depth chart for every team. You'd be amazed at how helpful a simple depth chart can be.

Unless something happened that I don't know about, Ditka still works here. I met Parcells only once and it was very very briefly so I can't say anything about him. Ditcka is actually really cool. First time I met him I went up to him and I was like... "hi Coach, just wanted to come up and introduce myself, I'm--" and he was like " I know exactly who you are. All my kids play fantasy. You do a good job." Really nice. And he'll talk football with whoever. Exactly what you think he is - a cool, no BS kind of guy who has forgotten more than I'll ever know about football.

Sort of. I am scheduled to - I am going to officiate the wedding of Out of his Gourd James and his fiancee Rachel in early June. James won the Man's League for FB this past year and yes, I am sure we will be discussing on the podcast. I'm told there won't be a lot of single ladies at the wedding but I am looking forward to the experience - should be fun.

Well, I think OC is s afer bet for avg than Hardy... they're really close, no question. but my guess is Hardy hits .265-.270 and OC hits. 285 or so... Hardy will hit more HR, OC steal more bases... In a head to head, I fell OC is more consistent week to week and Hardy is prone to wild fluctuations - you'd rather the consistentcy in h2h... but again, it's close

Well, Scott is a host of SportsCenter, not an analyst and has been fairly public of his dislike of fantasy sports... so he's probably not the guy I would choose. If I was picking, I go with Jaws. He's on MNF, he watches more tape than anyone - it's sick - and I started out with him when I was on The Fantasy Show and he's always been really, really cool to me. Unbelievably supportive, super knowledgable, genuinely nice and he plays in like 3 fantasy football leagues too. Jaws is my number 1 pick of ESPN analysts.

Like both of them, esp. Carp. Said this earlier in the chat but there's tons of guys like Carp this year who are undervalued / going late due to injury concerns, one down year, what have you... you can wait on pitching more than any other yeasr in recent memory and have a sick staff. Yes, some added risk but there's always risk with starting pitching. Look at Bedard, Zambrano, Peavy, etc last year

And Waterboy was college... so it has to be pro sports for fantasy really... So I'll say Roy Hobbs in the Natural. Certainly Pedro Cerrano (slightly over Ricky Vaughn) in Major League would have been the best value as neither would have been drafted probably picked up as free agents during the year... And, of course, Juwanna Man for those that WNBA fantasy

This is the first year I have done auction drafts (thanks to the free service from ESPN) and I've found there is always at least 1 guy paying between $30-$40 for like 5 different players. I see this as being a waste and that his team likely gets killed by his cheap guys, how do you see this strategy working out?

Actually, if it's a ten team mix league my guess is it works out great. Look, if you know what you are doing, there's ALWAYS talent available in a ten team mix. So why not blow the bank on a bunch of studs and fill in afterwards. Two years ago I went to an ESPN muckity muck auction to be the auctioneer and got roped into drafting a team at the last minute because someone got called into a meeting. With no prep or anything in front of me and having to still run the auction, I decided to do the famous "Labadini" plan.

Wow, hard to remember... I know in baseball last year I got TONS of crap for saying I'd rather have Aubrey Huff than Evan Longoria after Longoria got called up... and Huff had the better year. And everyone was yelling at me about having Billy Wagner so low in my rankings at the All Star break and he got hurt and was lost and wasn't good... as for bad... I thought Andruw Jones would bounce back last year. That was pretty horrific. Liked Erik Bedard in Seattle A LOT. Too many to remember on both sides....

Well, honestly, there's nothing really tough about it. Come on... I get paid good money to write and talk about fantast sports. But, given that... since you asked working in the fantasy sports industry - the toughest thing about working that particular industry is basically everyone has an opinion, everyone thinks they are better than you and while it is overall a very good industry, there is definitely s mall subset of folks that are jealous / bitter / not shy about stealing, etc.... The other big thing is respect. No matter where you go there are still people that say "fantasy sports isn't real" it's a game, only dorks play, blah blah blah... why should we give you the time of day etc? It's just fantasy... I mean, there have been people at ESPN and elsehwhere openly question fantasy sports and it's value, so if that's what comes out in public, imagine privately at meetings or conferences or what have you, you know? And as one of the more visible guys in the industry, I get a lot of that brunt. I also get a lot of great benefit for the same reason, so it's a double edged sword and I'm not complaining. I am very very lucky to have an amazing job at ESPN. And I think, just by this chat being on the front page of ESPN.com shows you that there are a TON of folks - both at ESPn and elsehwhere - that understand how many people play fantasy, how important and fun it is, etc etc. So all of us - and I mean that - all of us who play - are winning the battle in a big way... but we're not 100% there yet. So that's the biggest challenge. But like I said... in the grand scheme of things, it's a really good gig.

Thanks to your earlier post, I became aware of the XX interview. After reading it, it became apparent to me that the ego-maniac running that site is attempting to use the negative pub to garner attention for his efforts. If you read any of his previous work, then it is easy to conclude that he really believes that he is smarter than everyone else. That's always a sign of stupidity. Also, he has an unhealthy fascination with you and ESPN. It's obvious that he is jealous of your success. Good. Regardless, kudos to you for remaining profesional in a very unprofessional setting. Whoever posted that question earlier today was either that guy or someone without a clue. Either way, he (it?) didn't deserve any attention on your board. Now, if XX or whoever thinks you're God himself then I can understand his anger and resentment. But, you're just a dude who has worked hard to make the most of your opportunities. And, all you're really doing is giving us your thoughts as to an inherently unpredictable math problem with a multitude of variables and outside influences. It's just math or statistical analysis with color commentary. I find it hard to comprehend how anyone can get angry over your predictions. Sorry to post so many times. I had no idea how many times I had to post in order to even make a dent. Then again, I'm incessantly posting this message, so I can't be that sorry. Fantasy Baseball question: Call me crazy but I've drafted 8 teams and no one has drafted Hank Blalock and yet ole man Jason Giambi gets drafted every time even though he's a year older and trades the short porch at old Yankee Stadium for the expansive panoramic green of whatever that trash heep of a stadium is in Oakland. I know late picks are just gambles and Giambi hit 34 bombs last year, but he hit something like .240... and he's 38... and now in Oakland while Blalock is 28 and in Texas with 3B eligibility. Am I wrong to think Blalock has a much better chance to have a much better season?

Jay Soderberg used to work for ESPN Radio and just produced ours and a few other podcasts on the side, if you will. But podcasts and podcenter at espnradio.com got so popular, ESPN needed someone to oversee all of them. So the wise and sage like Marc Horine named Jay the producer of all of ESPN's podcasts - or at least as many as he could handle. So, we were discussing on the air one day what his nicekname should be now that the evil one (Jay) had been put in charge of all the podcasts. I three out The PodCzar, PodLord, etc... and Jeremy Green, actually, who was in with Nate and I that day, said "Podvadar." And the rest was, as they say, a small footnote in obscure podcast history.

How can you have an outfielder in the top-10? They are a dime a dozen and, by now, we should all know the difference b/w bein a good fantasy player, and a good player in real life. Gaudy power numbers and a .300 AVG from a few player on your team WILL NOT win you a championship. It's all about having 10 guys (as far as hitters go) with, say, Markakis-type numbers.

I've been pretty clear that I'm really high on Nolasco this season. He's my top 20 of pitchers. And considering Kinsler's injury concerns I don't think he's that much of an upgrade over Alexi. The speed is the nice thing, but his BA is no sure thing.... I like Kinsler more but not THAT much more.

Hamels, Halladay, Peavy. Cole first becuase there are no questions about him. Just a stud. Roy... that K rate came out of nowhere last year, to an extent. He'd had a k/9 rate under 6 the previous two years before his 7.54 last year... and hadn't topped a k/9 of 7 since 2001 before last year... so worried about him having that many strikeouts. Peavy... injury concerns and his ERA was a run higher after AS Break than before it (still very good, but still)

Yeah, he does. I've never been as high on Mauer as others because his value is batting average dependent and in a physically demanding pos it makes me nervous about injury and he'll miss time. For BA to have fantasy value you need as many at bats as possible and catchers tend to get a lot less at bats than other positions for obvious reasons. Considering how deep catcher is this year he's not a guy that will wind up on any of my teams unless he really drops. But yeah, no question....it's a red flag.

I like to mix it up. Generally, early on, I will throw out a player I don't want and try to get money off the board. But after a few I might throw out a guy I really like if I feel there's a lull. Or if there's a stud 3b left - say David Wright - maybe I'll throw out a guy like Youk to see if I can get him slightly below market because the guys with money left are all waiting for Wright. Depends.... try different things...

I need some advice on what could be a life changing decision. I've suspected for some time now that my girlfriend has been having an affair. The usual signs. Phone rings, I answer, someone hangs up. She started going out 'with the girls' a lot recently, although when I ask which girls it is always "Just some friends from work, you don't know them". I always look out for her taxi coming home but she always walks down the drive although I can hear a car setting off. As if she has got out of the car round the corner. Why? Is it not a taxi? I once picked her mobile up just to see what time it was and she went beserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her. Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my g/f. I think deep downI just didn't want to know the truth but last night she went out again and I decided to check on her. I decided I was going to hide behind my car which would give me a view of the whole street so I could see which car she gets out of. It was whilst crouched behind my car that I noticed rust around my rear wheel arch. So what should I do? Should I take it into a body repair shop or should I buy some stuff from Autozone and try to repair it myself?
