Hey folks! Scott makes his triumphant return to radio and the chat today. Be sure to be here at 12.30p EST to talk to Scott and then continue chatting with fellow listeners during the show.
ESPNRadio.com (12:30 PM)
SVP is back!!! And he's here with his Diet Coke on the rocks. Fire away!
Benjamin Columbus, Ohio [via mobile]
I would like to say D.Wade is my MVP for this season. Who thought he would come back and be this great. I knew he would.
Scott Van Pelt (12:33 PM)
You could make a great case for him. I think that getting healthy and playing on the Olympic team was like a reminder to him of how great he was and still is. It ws easy to forget because they were so horrendous last year. But, he's clearly as good as anyone on Earth at the moment.
Chris D (LL, Michigan)
Scott, are you going to try and get U2 tickets for their tour in the fall?
Scott Van Pelt (12:33 PM)
Yes, I would see them anywhere.
AMR (Cleveland)
Welcome back, SVP! Have you had a chance to watch Eastbound & Down on HBO? Do you know anybody like Kenny Powers?
Scott Van Pelt (12:34 PM)
I saw an episode, it made me laugh. I don't KNOW anyone like that, but I'm sure that's not a made up character. I'm sure there are many Kenny Powers' out there.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Excuse me, sir? Do you have any identification? How do we know it's really SVP?
Scott Van Pelt (12:35 PM)
I'm drinking a Diet Coke, I'm as tan as Count Chocula, and I'm fighting Pink Eye. It's me. It's me. It's SVP.
Luis (SB, CA)
Van Peezy, big fan. T.O. to Buffalo: The most anti-climactic event ever to hit T.O. and sports?
Scott Van Pelt (12:36 PM)
I don't think so. I think the market was minimal and if you're TO it beats getting a job at the drive thru at Sonic which may have been the alternative. What will be interesting, is to see how he responds to being on the "side-stage".
JT (Lynchburg, VA)
To heck with NBA and HBO and U2... ...IT'S ACC TOURNEY TIME! Is Gary safe at UM? and can VA Tech do enough shy of winning the tourney to sneak in the Dance?
Scott Van Pelt (12:37 PM)
Va Tech (who is leading right now) will knock Miami out of consideration. And I can't believe that the ACC will only get 6. Which means that either Maryland, Va Tech, or Miami probably has a decent shot to play themselves into the field. I believe Gary is alright.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
When 12:30 PM came today did you say to yourself, "Alright, I'm back in chat mode!" or was it more like, "Oh [expletive] I have to do that [expletive] chat again."?
Scott Van Pelt (12:38 PM)
One of your answers is correct.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
You mention pink eye. That's pretty contagious, right? Shouldn't you be kept away from public areas?
Scott Van Pelt (12:39 PM)
I'm using drops and hand sanitizer. If I could do the show in a Haz-Mat outfit or beekeeper uniform, I would.
ESPNRadio.com (12:40 PM)
(Moderator's Note: My eyes are starting to feel itchy)
Bernard (Princeton, NJ)
Welcome back Scott! Any thoughts on the Florida State probation and the possibility of Bowden losing victories in his race with Paterno?
ESPNRadio.com (12:41 PM)
Unless the NCAA is going to come in and ACTUALLY punish them...not some pseudo-punishment....that's the most interesting layer to this story. Because, clearly he and Paterno are staring at one another waiting for someone to blink. And if he loses 14 wins off his total, that's end-game for that particular staredown.
Scott Van Pelt (12:41 PM)
That last note was from me. Darn computers.
Chris D (LL, Michigan)
Scott, where did you go for your vacation?
ESPNRadio.com (12:45 PM)
Waiting for Van Pelt to stop arguing with Tirico about Maryland hoops....
Scott Van Pelt (12:46 PM)
Sat in a hammock, ate great food, played golf when I could be bothered to get up out of the hammock. Watched Maryland lose two agonizing basketball games which conspired to ruin my vacation, and here we are. I went to the keys...
Rachel (GA)
Are you taking Tiger or the field this weekend?
Scott Van Pelt (12:47 PM)
On that golf gourse, I'll take him. He's never finished lower than 10th.
CAL (St. Paul, MN)
Scott, what are your thoughts on the Jay Cutler situation?
Scott Van Pelt (12:48 PM)
I'm really perplexed by Jay Cutler right now. While I understand that it would be a bummer to hear that the team flirted with the notion of moving you, I don't know what he's done there, in terms of a body of work, to get to ugly publicly. That said, I don't know what promises were made to him by the new regime, and that may have a lot to do with it. My sense of Cutler, dating back to his Vandy days, has always been that I like him. So, I'm prepared to give him benefit of the doubt and see how it plays out.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Aside from the ACC Tournament, which one(s) most interest you? I'm thinking Big Ten as almost every game could involve some bubble popping.
Scott Van Pelt (12:50 PM)
I joke a lot about Big Ten basketball being hideous to watch, because it often is. That is the tournament that has the most subplots, I can't allow myself to believe that they'll actually get all 8 in. But, I suppose if things break just right, it might happen. So, I'll be watching, as my pink eyes bleed.
rerun (su)
what do you think of Mike Singeltary scoring 29 consecutive points? Pretty impressive, no?
Scott Van Pelt (12:51 PM)
I was on the air doing SportsCenter, and when I walked downstairs to the studio, Tech was getting housed. The next thing I know, I hear some dude scored 29 straight and I was doing the highlight, and I was amazed.
Cosmo (Anytown, USA)
If you did not have to work, how would you spend next Thursday and Friday - the greatest days of the year?
Scott Van Pelt (12:54 PM)
A lot of people like Vegas, I don't want to hang around that many dudes that are rooting for teams other than I'm rooting for. I get violent in those situations. I'd prefer to be on my couch with the dish in sweats eating pizza for two consecutive days. And you're right, it is the best two days of the year.
Ashley (SLC)
SVP with the new ESPNradio schedule. will we be looking to lose your hour of greatness?
Scott Van Pelt (12:55 PM)
It's going away. It is the end for that hour. But, as I've seen in my brief time here, things have a way of changing. I'm happy to continue having a time to do what I do on Radio. And I mean that sincerely.
Luke (Bluffton SC)
SVP- when are you coming back to the Dawg Chat? Had fun that day.
Scott Van Pelt (12:56 PM)
Maybe next year during football season I'll drop by. You people are ill. Truly troubled beyond hope, beyond whiskey, beyond prayer, troubled. That's why I love ya.
Chris D (LL, Michigan)
Scott, which WR is going to have the better year next year? Laveranues Coles or T.J. Whoseyourmomma?
Scott Van Pelt (12:58 PM)
My first reaction is to blindly say "TJ" because Hasselbeck will be better. But Palmer, will be equally as motivated for a bounce back season...I just think Housh is a better WR, so I'll go with him.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I called Ryen Russillo,"Jamie Quirk," in a chat last week. Would you please tell him I'm sorry and didn't mean to hurt his feelings?
Scott Van Pelt (12:59 PM)
I think Ryen's from the rough and tumbled streets of Martha's Vineyard, you can't hurt him with your words.
Chris D (LL, Michigan)
Scott, are there any other concerts you are looking forward to this summer?
Scott Van Pelt (12:59 PM)
No, not really. And on that note, I gotta go! Show in 30 seconds!
ESPNRadio.com (1:00 PM)
Thanks for chatting today guys. Keep chatting over at ESPNRadio.com, just click Tirico & Van Pelt. Today we'll talk to Peter Gammons, Bob Knight, and Siena HC Fran McCaffery.
ESPNRadio.com (1:02 PM)
What up, folks? It's 1p. Time to keep the chat going strong for the next hour. How is everyone doing on this mostly sunny Thursday afternoon?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
What's up Tirico & Van Pelt chatters?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'm doing just fine but must admit, I'm listening to the Big East Tournament right now instead of Tirico and Van Pelt. Our local ESPN affiliate switched to the tourney. SVP can bash me all he wants today and I won't know about it.
ESPNRadio.com (1:05 PM)
Pretty wild how DePaul beat Cincinnati the other day. All A-10 fans know Jerry Wainwright was the head coach at Richmond before relocating to the Big East.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
Yo Yo what up yall? How's it hangin folks?
Markus (Salt Lake City)
Hey Hey ESPN Chatters........What's good on this Thursday?
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Hey everyone...hey Frank...did you have a nice birthday?
ESPNRadio.com (1:06 PM)
Hello! I did. Thank you for asking. How is everyone doing this week?
AMR (Cleveland)
I'm so bummed that the SVP show is going away :(
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
What do you think of the Big East so far, J.B.? I was really disapointed with yesterday's showings. St. Johns was an embarrassment
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Interesting as the DePaul win was, they should never have been allowed to participate in the tournament. Teams that can't win at least half of the games on their schedule don't deserve to play in the post-season.
Steiny (NYC)
J.B. congrats on getting in ESPN The Mag buddy.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
I have been to Vegas during the 1st 2 days of the tournament...it was crazy fun...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'm a 'Cuse fan so I was happy yet I still think they make too many mistakes. The Johnnies haven't been the same since Lou Carnesecca retired.
ESPNRadio.com (1:08 PM)
T.O. to Buffalo. How does that make you feel? Please use descriptive words about your feelings.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
heya lisa! And ESPN the mag appearance? Where can we look that up? That's awesome that a frequent SVP contributer is in it
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Lots of alcohol being consumed during that time...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'm looking forward to the Big Ten Tournament. I hope Penn State can get in. I root for them in football and would just like to see the basketball program get some recognition too. Talor Battle should have won Big Ten POY.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Karma...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Did I make ESPN the mag again?
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
I can't help but root for NU, they've never been there... that would be a cinderella story if ever there was one.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Give T.O. time and he'll find a reason to hate Buffalo too. I don't think he makes a big difference but jersey and ticket sales in Buffalo should be strong.
Rich (Utah)
Nice of you to thank Steiny J.B.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Hey Iowa
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
If Buffalo doesn't come out of the gate winning, you have to wonder what TO's response will be...
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
So what did you do for your birthday Frank?
ESPNRadio.com (1:12 PM)
Spent the weekend in Long Island and New York City with friends from school.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Sorry Rich, my bad. I was in once before and Steiny brought it up so I was wondering if it was the same issue. Thanks for making me feel smaller than my 5'6" frame.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Oh and thanks, Steiny.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
Worked probably :P Trooper frank!
ESPNRadio.com (1:12 PM)
Not on a Saturday (or Sunday)! I actually worked a half-day on Friday to get a head start on traffic.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Getting excited about WDW, Lisa?
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
TO is a trainwreck...I worry for Trent Edwards...TO will destroy him if he doesn't get him the ball
Jason (Philly)
Wait, is ESPN-Radio just Buzz in drag?
ESPNRadio.com (1:14 PM)
How did you figure it out?!?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
T.O. isn't even the best WR on his new team. He'll get his looks though because Buffalo doesn't have a top level TE to take looks away from him.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
I'm more worried about the Owner-Coach dynamic in buffalo honestly. TO is in no way the sort of player that fits the team vision of buffalo. If the owner forced TO on the coach... Bad blood isn't something buffalo needs, even worse than what TO himself could do
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Can't wait J.B. - our almost 4 year old talks about it daily - I am going to make a pull off calendar when we get to 30 days out - he will get a kick out of pulling off a 'ticket' each day
ESPNRadio.com (1:15 PM)
Here comes Providence. Within six of No. 5 Louisville early in the second half.
deez (jersey)
didnt even know u boys had a show no more fransea for me
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Seriously though, did I have something in a recent issue of the mag? I don't get it at home (no time to read it).
Steiny (NYC)
No Prob J.B. You are in this weeks issue.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
You should shape the tickets like Mickey's head, Lisa.
Luis (SB, CA)
SVP, Call it, least productive day in America: Monday after Super Bowl or Start of March Madness?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
You have to hope Providence continues on just so we can hear them call out, "Efejuku!" a bunch of times.
ESPNRadio.com (1:17 PM)
Anyone here been following the WBC? I'll admit I wasn't into it last time around, but I've found it very entertaining. I appreciate that the Netherlands has been holding it down for my Dutch heritage.
Jason (Philly)
Buzz, TMB wouldnt let you hear the end of it if they knew you hung out all day in hear with steiny
ESPNRadio.com (1:18 PM)
I was kidding. I'm not Buzz.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Frank, stay away from SVP today. That pink eye is nasty stuff.
ESPNRadio.com (1:18 PM)
SVP gave me the heads up when I saw him yesterday. He was just getting here when I was on my way out. It was like seeing a ghost because he'd been gone for so long.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Had to be a question sent to Stu Scott. Probably Tiger Woods related.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
So SVP is staying with T&VP still though, isn't he? No SVP at all would be a drag.
ESPNRadio.com (1:19 PM)
Correct. Tirico & Van Pelt will air from 2-4p ET.
Markus (Salt Lake City)
TO is really a sad story. He was on track to becoming the next Great One. He got the blessing and the tuteledge of The Great One. He is number two in a lot of categories for WR's. And what will he be remembered for? Being a primadona. Sad..........
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
Just the scores mostly frank, haven't had the time to watch any of it... Definitely rooting for the netherlands though, anyone who stands up in the face of the establishment is fun to root for
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I just look to see if any big name MLB guys get hurt in the WBC. Unfortunately Chipper Jones went down thus ticking me off. I do not agree with MLB guys playing in this thing. It should be college and minor league players. MLB guys should be getting ready for the season with their own teams.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
A wellt anned ghost
Jake (NY)
Frank, Steiny is cool. Jason your not.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I appreciate SVP posting so many of my questions. I know I am a rather zealous chatter. Just part of my nature as an Italian and a sports fan.
Jason (Philly)
Thats fine, I was never trying to be cool
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Once SVP has been on the drops for 24 hours his pink eye is no longer contagious
ESPNRadio.com (1:21 PM)
Thank you, Dr. Lisa.
Jason (Philly)
I'm outta here anyways this place is like Bizzaro world
ESPNRadio.com (1:22 PM)
I wish you well in your future endeavors.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Anyone catch The Chopping Block last night? Looks a bit like The Apprentice meets Hell's Kitchen.
Rich (Utah)
J.B. (Dunmore, PA), do they ever take your questions and put in under other peoples names? They have done that to me a few times.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Leave it to a mom to give us the lowdown on pink eye. Dads aren't really good at that unless they are MDs.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
I have 2 little boys...I have had more than 1 case of pink eye
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jason: You're from Philly. You LIVE in Bizzaro world, man!
Jeff (Atlanta)
Now that Van Peezy's gone, I can bring this up. Based on MLB's attendance last year, 25 cents from every ticket sold went directly into Bud Selig's pocket. Nice to know Bud earned $11k from the last baseball game I attended. Post at your own risk, moderator....
Markus (Salt Lake City)
Very Good SVP. Utah is the dark horse of the West!
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
I don't know, there are a lot of equal-time or stay-at-home dads nowadays.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Never had mine posted under different names but have had a few imposters send in questions under mine.
Rich Rodriguez (Ann Arbor)
J.B., you're supposed to say "I need to get a life"
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Who is Buzz? I missed something...
Rich (Utah)
Do you like Steiny?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I have a life, Rich Rod. I don't do any chats after 5:00 PM.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Why is Jason so grumpy???
Jason (Philly)
Thats true, i saw a bum fighting a trash can when I just went to lunch earlier
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Buzz is the king of the 10:00 AM chat.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
Somene on a different chat I do believe Lisa?
ESPNRadio.com (1:25 PM)
Has anyone ever heard the album of Jay-Z and Coldplay remixes? It came out a few months ago.
Rich (Utah)
J.B. i Mean. Do you like Steiny J.B.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Lisa: He's from Philly.
Jason (Philly)
Buzz is the mecca of ESPN chats, weekdays 10AM
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jason: Did the bum win?
Mike (Ohio)
Lisa, you really don't want to know who Buzz is. Killed a man once, just for looking at him wrong.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
OK - I only chat here and on Colin's chat
Rich (Utah)
Why does Buzz hate Steiny?
Jason (Philly)
He was winning until I think he got tired and the trash can fell on top of him, Winner by pin-fall the trash can
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
JB, I have to disagree with you about DePaul though. Its a conference tourny, everyone should be in. If you can't motivate yourself to play and win vs the De Pauls of the conference, you don't have the mental toughness to deserve in the Big Dance. So the De Pauls of the world serve a good purpose, and that win gave those kids SOMETHING to feel good about after a painful season.
Jason (Philly)
Buzz hates Steiny because steiny was posting as two different names and saying it was two different people, even though the IP was the same computer
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Heading to AC for a few days at the end of the month. It isn't Vegas but still 2 whole days alone with just my husband.
ESPNRadio.com (1:28 PM)
I went to Vegas last year and I still don't get why people don't just play War all day. 50/50 chance on each hand and you can wager as much or as little as you'd like.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'm indifferent about Steiny. He's never done anything to me directly and did congratulate me for making ESPN the mag. He just needs to tone it down a bit.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
Congrats Lisa! Good times!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Nice Vegas Vacation reference, Frank.
Rich (Utah)
Was he posting as Jmerms?
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
I love the craps tables...can stay on there for hours at a time...
Markus (Salt Lake City)
War? How do you usually come out Frank?
ESPNRadio.com (1:31 PM)
Ahead. 50/50 chance. It makes Blackjack look like flushing money down the toilet (even more than it already does).
Jason (Philly)
Oh and Buzz doesnt like steiny because he goes into chats and submits literally 10,000 questions and the athletes and celebs complain to buzz about him
Matt (IN)
It started with the 2 name thing plus the fact that people have pointed out that Steiny appears to be in every single chat every day. He doesn't bother me though.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Missed the reference Frank...oops!!
AMR (Cleveland)
Lisa, 2 whole days alone with your husband? I'm so jealous. We were lucky to get a babysitter for our 3 & 5 yearolds on Valentine's Day. That seems like ages ago! Have a safe trip.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
ILIT: Fine about DePaul but then there should be a stipulation that if a sub-.500 team wins your conference tournament, your conference loses its automatic bid to the Big Dance. Playing in the NCAA Tournament should be based on full body of work.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
Play the nickel and penny slots. I have family who goes to vegas all the time, they've paid for their vacations a couple times that way. The key to gambling is doing it for the entertainment value, not to win money. Winning money is just icing on the cake.
Jason (Philly)
Ya steiny uses Jmerms, jumerms, steinmerms, and justin as aliases
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Craps is a nice, social game. Everyone is always rooting for the shooter.
Markus (Salt Lake City)
Lisa, you are a woman after my own heart! The dice and 21 are my love at the casino!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
ILIT: Well said. I go to casinos for the fun. We have a slot parlor only 20 minutes from my house. Penny and nickel slots get me my fix and don't kill my bank account.
Jason (Philly)
Enought negativity though steiny is what he is
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
J.B. I could see that, but that opens up a long slippery slope - people would be complaining about al the mid-major and small conference winners getting into the tourny, and I like having those teams making it in.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Iowa - we don't go to win the 'jackpot'...it would be nice but we just go for the fun of it...we take money with us and never never hit the ATM...you need to know your limits and that keeps it all fun...
ESPNRadio.com (1:34 PM)
So exciting that at this time next week we will all be doing no work while monitoring our brackets.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
J.B. - I am a social person...I get along with just about everyone...
Rich (Utah)
No way dude. Jmerms told me about that. His name is Justin and he lives in New York. Were tight. His best friend is Steiny and they share the same computer. Tell the MBers that I am tight with Justin and that Steiny and Justin are two different people. That's funny though. People always say that they look alike.
Matt (IN)
Dan Leone is chatting today. Is this a new low for Sportsnation chats?
ESPNRadio.com (1:35 PM)
It is a story that raises an issue that pertains to all forms of employment, not just athletics.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
Agree completely lisa. But you'd be surprised how much you can win on a nickel machine if you hit a streak.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
I love bracket time...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
ILIT: But the mid-majors would still get representatives in the NCAA Tournament if they would change the criteria for making their conference tournaments. From what I understand, it is up to the conference to determine if the tournaments account for their automatic bids. They can always say that the regular season champ gets it, I think.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
AMR - we are very lucky to have the people that we have in our lives...we are very blessed....
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
I must make an admission... I really don't follow college basketball that closely. I fill out a bracket in the office pool, but I don't take ti seriously... Then again, not taking my NFL bracket seriouisly ended up with me picking the cardinals into the superbowl... hehe
Jason (Philly)
Rich (Utah), hows the weather in lala land?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Lisa: Somehow it doesn't surprise me that you get along with everybody.
Markus (Salt Lake City)
What is the general consensus about expanding the tourney to 64 teams?
ESPNRadio.com (1:37 PM)
It's currently 65.
Matt (IN)
No argument there Frank...just seems like an odd choice.
ESPNRadio.com (1:38 PM)
I've seen him everywhere this week. I don't blame him. Mine as well take your case to the people.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
I honestly think the tourney is fine as is.
Jason (Philly)
Expand from 65 to 64?? I dont think expand is the right word
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
My 12-year old is the defending bracket champion in our house. She got to pick her favorite restaurant for a dinner for winning last year. Same stakes this year. I need to beat her, my wife, and her 8-year old sister. It's a guy thing.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
GO NU!
AMR (Cleveland)
Lisa, I gree with you. If I didn't have the help of my parents or my in-laws I would go nuts! They are my go-to babysitters & they never let me down. I try not to take advantage of them too much because they work very hard and take no time for themselves.
ESPNRadio.com (1:38 PM)
Has anyone here ever been to the NCAA tournament? I covered a few of them when GW was still good. A lot of fun and definitely worth doing at some point if you haven't already/
lL.V. 21 (miami)
IS IT TRU DAT SHAQ IS TRYING TO GET RELEASED?
Rich (Utah)
That is hilarious. The same people. HAHA Lala land is great. Wow Steiny and Justin. Jmerms. They are different people haha. They come to Utah and ski with me all the time.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Never had a chance to go to the tourney. Closest was a few years back when Syracuse had regionals and PSU upset UCLA. My dad went but couldn't get me invited.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
I've been to the NCAA *Wrestling* tournament... hehe. Its a much more satisfying sport for an Iowa fan to follow!
ESPNRadio.com (1:40 PM)
Tiger is -1 through seven holes.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
No offense, Rich, but its soundling like you are Steiny posing as Rich from Utah.
kyle (sitting in school (KY))
thats what i heard
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
I have gone on day #2 in DC a few years back
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
On a local note, our H.S. girls basketball team is only a win away from playing in the state finals. If they make it, I'm taking my family to Hershey to see the gama.
AMR (Cleveland)
My 1 and only trip to Iowa was for a NCAA D-3 wresting tourney. I had a blast. Iowa like OHIO rocks!
ESPNRadio.com (1:42 PM)
Everyone is encouraged to listen to today's NBA Today podcast.
Jason (Philly)
J.B. I'm with you 100% on that, Steiny, Jumerms, Rich (Utah), Bugs Bunny, their all the same
xavier fan (sitting in school (KY))
xavier,i follow them every where
ESPNRadio.com (1:43 PM)
How many teams do you think the A-10 gets in?
Matt (IN)
I went years ago, back before the tournament became 64 (and then 65) teams. Saw Dale Ellis play for Tennessee. He was a good one...and yes, I now feel old (in my defense I was just a kid).
Steve (Syracuse, NY)
Van Peezey- Think my beloved Orange can make a tourney run this year? They are finally healthy...and although last night almost turned into the Palace round 2, I think that they have the talent to pull some upsets in the NCAAs...
Jason (Philly)
I went to the first two round when they were in Philly a few years ago, 8 vs 9 was like Arizona vs. Wisconsin and also saw Uconn and Nova play, it was awesome
Rich (Utah)
Trust me J.B. you can see my birth birth certificate. My name is Richard Leonhard (No relation to Jim) and I know Justin. I just think that it is funny that you guys think they are the same person.
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)
Thanks AMR! Its our little piece of wrestling heaven!
ESPNRadio.com (1:45 PM)
15 minutes!
Jason (Philly)
Rich can you fax me that birth certificate @ 1-800-I-DONT-CARE
AMR (Cleveland)
little 4 letter states need to stick together
i-like-iowa-teams (NEIowa)

How do people feel about the story of possible sports betting in Delaware?
Rich (Utah)
I thought we were cool Jason?
Matt (IN)
The guy who has the office next to mine is a big Kentucky fan. He has some serious hatred for Billy G right now...
AMR (Cleveland)
Why is there so much grumpiness today? Is it snowing outside your office window, too? Between the flooding rivers and the 6 month winters I can't imagine why no one wants to play here in Cleveland.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Would love sports betting in Delaware
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
No real feelings on that one, Frank. Sports betting, like it or not, is here to stay. If it can help the economy of Delaware then why not do it?
ESPNRadio.com (1:49 PM)
I wonder what the line on sports betting becoming legal in Delaware is.
Jason (Philly)
Deleware is trying to become the greatest state in the Union. First no sales tax, and no legal sports gambling, all in my backyard. I literally drive the 20 minutes to deleware if I am making any purchased over $100
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Maryland was recently approved for slots...they are trying to stay ahead of the pack here
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Sorry to start trouble with Rich and Jason. Let's just move on here. I chat a lot too, OK?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Frank: Call Pete Rose. He'll have that for you.
AMR (Cleveland)
Sports betting and casinos are inevitable. Even in a poor economy people seem to play the lotto bigtime.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
When PA legalized slots, I loved it. The first slots in the state opened 20 minutes from me.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
Hey Frank...you are not very active on Facebook...you need to add some photos from your bithday...
ESPNRadio.com (1:52 PM)
There weren't that many taken. My friends are not big on pictures. I'm working on getting back into the F-book swing. February wore me out between the Super Bowl, Favre, A-Rod mania, etc.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'm waiting for an episode of The Office to talk about our local slot parlors.
AMR (Cleveland)
Frank, with all of the show changes will the chat time change, too?
ESPNRadio.com (1:53 PM)
We haven't hammered out all of the details just yet. Stay tuned.
Brett Favre (Kiln, MS)
Thanks for mentioning me, Frank. I was getting lonely.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Minnesota up three on NU late in the game. Greeny must be nervous.
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
I have to run now...everyone have a great and safe weekend...see you next week
ESPNRadio.com (1:53 PM)
Godspeed.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
How about this one? My 12-year old daughter doesn't want us to open a Facebook account. Apparently they had a talk at school about cyber-bullies and it really upset her. I won't be opening an account any time soon.
ESPNRadio.com (1:54 PM)
My sister is in high school and she has had issues of that nature. Kids are cruel. All you need to do is watch 'Step Brothers' to understand.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Until tomorrow or possibly next week then, Lisa.
AMR (Cleveland)
Have a safe weekend everybody!
ESPNRadio.com (1:55 PM)
Five minutes!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Five minutes to go. Who's still here?
Markus (Salt Lake City)
Wow. An hour passes quickly in the world of chat, especially when working......I'm here J.B.
Matt (IN)
I'm still here but I've gotten distracted with work.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Hey Frank, has Ryen Russillo gotten over the Jamie Quirk thing yet? I was just kidding, you know.
ESPNRadio.com (1:57 PM)
I'm not familiar with what you are talking about. Please explain (if you don't mind).
Jason (Philly)
Watching Tiger live on the web
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'm here until the end. I'm multi-tasking. This will be my last chat of the day anyway.
Jason (Philly)
So J.B. do you guys do dinner chat now?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I mentioned in a chat that Ryen was like the Jamie Quirk of ESPN. He does a lot of things but nothing all that great. He didn't take it too well.
ESPNRadio.com (1:59 PM)
I doubt he was really that upset. It can be hard to gauge emotion from the internet. Anyhow, Ryen has probably been the hardest working man at ESPN Radio over the last couple of weeks.
Matt (IN)
Gophers broke that one open. 11 points now.
MOrgan (PA)
Anyone else think Siena is gonna make the upset this year?
ESPNRadio.com (1:59 PM)
I hope so.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I don't chat past 5:00 PM. Once I'm home with the family, I do stuff with them, watch TV, pay bills, play video games, etc.
Jason (Philly)
Dinner: Grilled Keilbasa with Angel Hair Pasta Roni
DJ (Boston)
Give me back that filet o fish. Gimme that fish, ooooooo!!
Lisa (White Hall, MD)
One more question - when is Ryen normally on the radio - I know about Saturdays - I really enjoyed him this past 1 1/2 weeks
ESPNRadio.com (2:01 PM)
Ryen doesn't really have a specific time other than what you mentioned. He's also the host of the First Draft, the NFL Draft podcast with Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Ryen seems to be a good guy and does nice fill in work. I think he was probably just missing around too. OH, DINNER CHAT: I get it. We have something at work tonight so whatever they put out is what I'm eating.
Ryan, South Jersey
HELLO?
ESPNRadio.com (2:01 PM)
HI!
Lebron James (OH)
How good am I at basketball?
ESPNRadio.com (2:01 PM)
Too good. You should play for the Knicks.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I thought you left, Lisa.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
2:00 PM. Chat time is done. Back to work, everyone.
ESPNRadio.com (2:02 PM)
You tell 'em, J.B. Have a happy and safe weekend, everyone. We'll see you back here next Thursday.
