Chat with Jared Cook

Last season, Cook ranked second on South Carolina in receptions (37), yards (573) and TD catches (3). Cook played in 11 of the team's 13 games in 2008. He led the team in receiving two of those games.
According to Cook's Scouts Inc.'s draft profile, he "displays excellent body control and opens well enough to adjust to balls thrown behind him. Times jumps well and can highpoint the ball. Has soft hands and concentration to make tough catches in traffic."
Send in your questions now, then join Cook on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET!

Todd (Boston)
What were the reasons why you chose to leave South Carolina early?
Jared Cook (1:39 PM)
I felt it was the right time with the quarterback situation. I felt that next year was not going to be better, so I thought I would go while I was hot.
Andy (Denver)
What was your best memory of playing at USC?
Jared Cook (1:40 PM)
Just all the games and the great fans. And the team camaraderie.
Charlie (Milwaukee)
how did you feel you did at the combine?
Jared Cook (1:40 PM)
I think I did well. I was satisfied with my performance, but I wish I did not get hurt after my second 40, but I can make that up.
Tyler(Brazil,IN)
Hey jared. Im sittin in school rite now and i was wondering what team you think you will go to?
Jared Cook (1:42 PM)
It is so unpredictable it is really no telling. I will be happy anywhere. It is too crazy to even try to guess.
Will, NYC
Will you be having a pro day?
Jared Cook (1:42 PM)
Yes, it is on March 25th and I will be doing the three cone and twenty yard shuttle.
Vicki (New Jersey)
Now that the combine stuff is over, do you still continue to work out every day?
Jared Cook (1:43 PM)
Yes, I have to. You have to maintain shape and I still have my pro day. And teams look for you to maintain body weight.
Zach (STL)
what number would you like to wear in the pros?
Jared Cook (1:43 PM)
84 I guess. That is what I wore in college.
Brian (NY, NY)
When you're at the combine getting measured and weighed and poked, do you just feel like a slab of meat?
Jared Cook (1:44 PM)
Haha yeah. A little bit, but that is part of the process. You have to go through it. But it does feel like a meat market. But it's something you just have to go through.
Dale (Louisville)
What's been the biggest surprise part of this whole draft process?
Jared Cook (1:46 PM)
Just having to be ready for the most crazy questions that are asked of you. Also, I did not realize there was so much traveling was involved and how much went into it. It really surprised me.
Steiny (NYC) [via mobile]
I am a NFL GM. Why should I pick Jared Cook in the draft?
Jared Cook (1:46 PM)
I have intangibles. I run well can stretch the field and I can catch and I am a blocker. People do not realize it, but I am a blocker.
Mike
What is [playing for coach Spurrier like?
Jared Cook (1:48 PM)
It is a challenge. He is a different kind of coach who has been around a while and seen everything there is to see. He has experienced everything so it was a challenge and I respect him for it. Looking back on it, It was a blessing to play for him.
Steiny (NYC) [via mobile]
Are you the best TE in the draft?
Jared Cook (1:48 PM)
That is not for me to decide. That is why we have a draft. But I do think I have some things that a lot of other TEs do not have that make me stand out a little more.
Jared Cook (1:49 PM)
I appreciate the questions and thank you for the time!
