Steve Muench (2:05 PM)
I hope everyone is doing well and can pull away from March Madness for an hour to talk some football.
Brian West Palm Beach Fla
Who will the Dolphins draft in the first round?
Steve Muench (2:08 PM)
I think they go with a corner or an outside linebacker. At corner Alphonso Smith is a possibility. At outside linebacker I think they hope Cushing or Matthews falls.
Darius (Nashville, TN)
Which wide receiver is a better fit for the raiders? Crabtree or Maclin. I know that Al Davis likes speed, but its seems that drafting Crabtree is the no brainer.
Steve Muench (2:09 PM)
Crabtree is the better overall prospect but Maclin is faster and the Raiders love speed to it would not surprise me to see them take Maclin ahead of Crabtree.
Bubbles (The Fun Hut)
Steve, a quick one here before I return to the hut, is Brian Robiskie a legitimate option for the Colts at pick 27? Seems like he'd be a good fit in their offense.
Steve Muench (2:10 PM)
Yes I think he's a legitimate possibility though a bit of a reach. I also think he's a good fit for most offenses.
Vinny Cerrato & Dan Snyder (Washington, D.C.)
We're not satisfied and done with big deals yet. Besides the draft, we want to restructure the rest of our team's contracts, wait for the Broncos and Panthers to panic by April 25 and make a run and trade with our # 13 and extra for Cutler or Peppers or both. Can, should or will we try to do this?
Steve Muench (2:11 PM)
Not for Cutler and I'm not sure they can get Peppers.
Chris (Staten Island, NY)
Steve, where do you project WRs Johnny Knox and Mike Wallace to be drafted after they blazed the 40 at the combine? With the success last year of Donnie Avery and Eddy Royal, you'd think they'd go fairly high with the leagues infatuation with speed.
Steve Muench (2:12 PM)
Knox looks like a middle-round guy while Wallace goes in the later rounds.
True Mike, NJ
Can Michael Johnson play outside linebacker in a 4-3? Can Aaron Maybin?
Steve Muench (2:13 PM)
yes for both but Johnson really isn't a great fit at DE or OLB in my opinion. He's built like a basketball player so he's going to have problems holding up against the run.
Otto (CA)
Robiskie is overrated. Patrick Turner had a better career and does the exact same things and he can be had in the 4th or 5th round.
Steve Muench (2:14 PM)
Agree to disagree.
M. Mamula (Philly, PA)
Have GM's gotten over combine wonder workouts?
Steve Muench (2:16 PM)
Teams have gotten better at putting the Combine in the right perspective but great athletes are always going to intrigue teams because of their upside.
Sean (TR NJ)
With this being a shallow draft for Rb's who do you think would be the best fit as a power runner for the saints after dumping Duce you know they need one
Steve Muench (2:19 PM)
I'm not sure it's a shallow class. It just doesn't has as much talent at the top as last year's class did. That being said, I think getting Andre Brown would be great for the Saints. Not neccessarily a power back but a good fit for the scheme and the existing personnel.
John(Buffalo)
Do you think Aaron Maybin will be a Top 10 pick?
Steve Muench (2:20 PM)
No but he's right there. I like Everette Brown a little more personally but both should be in the top 10/ top 15
Joe (Dayton)
I'm a Browns fan, and I would love to see them take Crabtree and Mack with their first picks. How likely is this?
Steve Muench (2:21 PM)
It's possible but unlikely. I think Mack keeps creeping up and could go in the first.
Mikey(Lackawanna,NY)
Steve, I really would like to see the Buffalo Bills draft Rey Maualuga with the 11th overall pick! The Bills need a LB! Do you think Rey can play OLB? Or would moving POZ to OLB be a better move?
Steve Muench (2:23 PM)
Maualuga is a better fit on the inside so I'd move Poz if I take him there.
Brian (Washington, IL)
Who do you think will get picked 1st?
Steve Muench (2:24 PM)
Jason Smith.
Eric(Missouri)
Where do you see Michael Oher being drafted in the 1st rd?
Steve Muench (2:27 PM)
I've been thinking about this for a while and flip flopped a couple time but I think he foes to San Fran. He is raw and he has to work on his ability to pick up the blitz but he's got great natural ability and I think he progressed at Ole Miss so I expect that trend to continue. Andre Smith, meanwhile, is arguably more NFL ready but too many red flags to take in the top ten in my opinion.
Ben (Boston MA)
Hey Steve I think the Pats go with Maualuga with pick 23 if he's still there and then with 34 they take Clint Sintim, again if still there which I think he will be. They fill two needs. They get an inside run stuffer and a 3-4 OLB who practically already played in their system. What do you think about that Steve?
Steve Muench (2:30 PM)
I like the approach from a position stand point though and you point it out the names could change. By the way am I crazy to think they consider taking a right tackle if Oher slides (obviously I don't think he will) ? It's a deep linebacker class so they can find good values there in the second or third round.
Da Tuna (South Beach)
Come on Steve... you know Alphonso Smith is too small to be a Parcells type player. As much as I love the blood line of Matthews... I typically don't draft one year wonders. I'm betting Everette Brown or the CB from UCONN slips to me!!!
Steve Muench (2:32 PM)
I will be shocked if Brown slides that far. Butler will be there but he's an inch taller and about ten pounds lighter than Smith so...
Doug (winters, ca)
Hey Steve, just wondering the Eagles are having a private workout with Heyward Bey are they looking at any other wr's in the first round?
Steve Muench (2:33 PM)
I'm sure they are.
James (Boston, MA)
You're not crazy steve, I wouldn't put drafting andre smith past the pats if he falls that far.
Steve Muench (2:33 PM)
thank you!
Marcus(Washington)
With Matt Hasselbeck getting long in the tooth? Do you think the Hawks will consider taking Mark Sanchez with the 4th overall pick?
Steve Muench (2:34 PM)
What about Stafford? You have to consider it but I think they really want Curry and are hoping he slides there.
Jason (Bmore)
Do you think Shady McCoy could be a steal at the top of the 2nd round?
Steve Muench (2:36 PM)
One of the players we have debated a great deal at Scouts Inc. I think he's a great value early in the second round but I don't think he's a first-round talent. He dances a little too much and he doesn't have Felix Jones type speed.
Aaron(PA)
Do you think we will see 2 WRs drafted in the Top 10 in next months draft? Drating WRs that high is a huge gamble?
Steve Muench (2:38 PM)
Every time I look at the board the two receivers really jump out at me. But every time I crunch the data it makes the most sense. I think it's a very unusual draft because there's good depth at several positions but not many top tier prospects.
Tim (cincinnati)
Any chance Barwin creeps into end of 1st round??
Steve Muench (2:38 PM)
yes
Andrew, Florida
where do you think josh freeman will end up?
Steve Muench (2:40 PM)
I just can't convince myself that the Jets won't take him if he's there at 17 and Sanchez is already off the board.
Otto (CA)
Stafford has a big arm and what?? Sanchez is has an above average arm, moves great, great accuracy, tremendous leader. He's going to win. Stafford is Jeff George.
Steve Muench (2:43 PM)
Otto for quite some time you have accused me of having an East Coast bias. I'm starting to get the feeling you may have a West Coast bias. Thoughts? As far as Stafford goes he too moves well and is an excellent leader in his own right. He loses the strike zone at times and I don't think he's the overall pick but he's got a lot more experience than Sanchez.
Anthony (NYC)
Steve in which round will Sean Smith-CB Utah be drafted & what position do you feel he'll be most effective? Also do the Jets have a shot at him?
Steve Muench (2:44 PM)
The Jets might be able to get him in the second round where I think he's going to go. I still think he's a corner.
Otto (CA)
Experience doesn't mean anything if you don't improve. I didn't see Stafford improve and he didn't win big games like Sanchez.
Steve Muench (2:49 PM)
Remarkable Otto. Stafford played three seasons at Georgia. His completion percentage, quarterback rating, passing yards and touchdown-to-interception ratio improved in each of his three seasons. This despite the fact that injuries ravaged his offensive line last year. He's won games at LSU and at Florida amongst others during his career. You didn't seen him improve because you weren't watching right?
pj(texas)
steve, i am a huge colts fan here i know alot of mocks have us gettin peria dt out of ole miss, which i dont mind kinda like but i would really love to see us get nicks out of unc if he is still there what do you think they will do thanks steve
Steve Muench (2:51 PM)
Both make sense but the defensive tackle class isn't as deep as the receiver class so I'm thinking Jerry.
Johnny(Queens)
Who is the best playmaking TE in this years draft? Pettigrew/Ingram/Coffman/Nelson/Cook/Beckum/Other?
Steve Muench (2:52 PM)
I'd rank them Cook, Nelson, Ingram, James Casey, Coffman, Beckum and then Pettigrew.
Otto (CA)
Inaccurate QBs don't become accurate in the NFL. Stafford will max out at about 57% and his INT/TD ratio will be 1/1.
Steve Muench (2:53 PM)

Hi Steve, sorry I'm late. The problem with the Lesner comparison is that Lesner's thing was that he was an NFL caliber athlete, which was true. Lebron James isn't an NFL caliber athlete, or even an above average NFL athlete; he comes into the league, and is right away the most talented player in the league (and quite possibly of all time). Bust or no, you have to find our for yourself. You can't let that slip by you. The risk is too high!
Steve Muench (2:55 PM)
The risk it too high! Just not in the way you are looking at it. Why ins't Mike Mamula remembered as one of the best football players of all time?
CJ(Tennessee)
Do you think Robert Ayers would be a good DE in a 4-3 base Defense? Can he get sacks? In college he didn't!
Steve Muench (2:57 PM)
I think he's one of the more over rated prospects this year. That said, I think he can play end in a 4-3 scheme and that he has the tools to develop into a productive pas rusher. The problems is you think about taking players like that in the third round. A lot of people think he's a late first round pick. Not enough production/upside to take him there in my opinion.
javon (the windy city) [via mobile]
who do you think da bears will take in the first round??
Steve Muench (2:59 PM)
I think they'd love to see CB Vontae Davis fall to them. If he doesn't WR Darius Heyward Bey makes a lot of sense.
John (NC)
Could Everette Brown play OLB in a 4-3 system?
Steve Muench (3:01 PM)
Physically maybe but it's not a great fit because he's at his best getting after the quarterback.
Steve Muench (3:01 PM)
That's it for this week. Let's do it again next Friday.
