Jeremy Green (4:04 PM)
A football chat on NCAA Tourney Friday? Come on buzz I want to watch the Panthers go down!!
gabe: mansfieldoh
Is there any reason to believe that eric mangini can bring the browns into professional football?
Jeremy Green (4:05 PM)
Eric Mangini is too worried about checking the phone records of employees then winning football games. The Browns will be no better under Mangini
Steve (NYC)
You're the fourth person I've asked this today and I'm 0 for 3 on getting it answered. Are the Lions better off drafting Stafford, trading for Cutler, or going with Culpepper at QB and filling other holes with their first round draft picks?
Jeremy Green (4:07 PM)
Best case scenario would be trading for Cutler but if that goes down there will be a number of teams in the mix. I am not sold on Stafford at number one. Yeah great Pro Day but expected that with his physical tools.
Marc ( City of Brotherly Love)
Happy Green Day!!! Sorry I've missed the past few weeks JG. So let me hit you with a double question. What on earth are the Eagles doing this offseason? How happy is your dad to be back in coaching? Thank you.
Jeremy Green (4:10 PM)
The Eagles are having a poor off-season obvioulsy. Losing quality players and not filling the voids. If they can find a way to pry Boldin out of Arizona though it would be huge. As for my dad regardless of the league I think he is happy because thease are going to be a lot of developmental type players and as a coach I think u like to be able to teach and these are going to clearly be players that need a lot of work.
Danny(Philly)
Leonard Weaver to Philly. Whats the impact?
Jeremy Green (4:12 PM)
I like Weaver. He is a West Coast FB with average run skills but he is a solid blocker and VG receiver out of the backfield.
Steve (Rochester, NY)
How about this for a trade? Oakland trades the #7 to the Eagles for their #21 and #28. The Eagles get a top WR (Crabtree, Maclin) and the Raiders get two starters (OL, WR, DL). What do you think?
Jeremy Green (4:14 PM)
I like it. The Eagles might have to toss something else in on the back end but I would much rather the Eagles get a legit guy now. WR is the toughest position to develop at the NFL level and even Crabtree and Maclin could take time to develope. The Eagles and McNabb have a small window in terms of time to get that SB ring.
Marc ( City of Brotherly Love)
Who's your Final Four Jeremy?
Jeremy Green (4:15 PM)
Louisville, Memphis, Pitt, UNC... Memphis over UNC.
Brett (San Antonio, TX)
How much gas does Torry Holt have left in the tank and have you heard any new news regarding him?
Jeremy Green (4:17 PM)
Holt is on vacation this week. I think he will start taking visits next week and teams can check him out medically. I think the Titans would be crazy not to get him. They need a guy like Holt who can just give them 5 for 60-70 on a consistent basis and I think Holt has enough left in the tank to get that done, I would look for the Ealges, Ravens and Jaguars to be in the mix as well.
Marc ( City of Brotherly Love)
What no Villanova? Stop drinking the kool-aid Jeremy. LOL
Jeremy Green (4:18 PM)
Man Nova had me on paranoia alert last night. Amercian is better then I thought... Carr can be my shooting guard any day of the week.
Jeremy Green (4:21 PM)
I wonder if Matt Williamson is sweating bullets right now? Come on PITT!!!!
Paul San Diego, CA
How do you feel about the LT resolution in San Diego? With this Cutler incident, how do you see the division going next year?
Jeremy Green (4:23 PM)
I like that LT will be playing in the powder blue next season. I think this might be the last year there though. Cutler or no Cutler this is still the Chargers division to win or lose. Outside of Dawkins Denver has just been adding bodies.. not sure they are much better.
Tim (Denver, Colorado)
Would a trade sending Cutler to the bucs, the bucs sending some piece to the browns and the browns sending Quinn and Rodgers be a possibility?
Jeremy Green (4:26 PM)
It is one of the things that has been talked about. Also the #5 and Quinn to Denver has been talked about. Cutler for Peppers and something else. Tons of scenarios. Denver has a franchise QB in Cutler so tons of scenarios.
Marc ( City of Brotherly Love)
Thank a lot Jeremy. Time for a few cold ones and some March Madness. You should do the same buddy. Take care and peace.
Jeremy Green (4:27 PM)
Enjoy marc.
Rick (Philly, PA)
Wouldn't Boldin for those two #1's be better than Crabtree. At least with Boldin you know what your are getting and paying for it contract wise. Crabtree could be a total bust and cost a ton of $$ in the process.
Jeremy Green (4:28 PM)
I agree he is a better risk then Crabtree. Disagree on the compensation though... 2 1's? I would not do that.. I would give one of the two ones though.
Jimmy (LA)
Rate the 5 teams with the best chance of landing Cutler in a trade.
Jeremy Green (4:29 PM)
Cleveland, Detroit, Tampa Bay Carolina, NYJ
Anthony, CA
Yo Jeremy you got the best voice and presentation on T.V. But to my point, why do people blame poor Cutler's defense for Cutler's 17-20 record and not the fact that his offense in all 20 losses avg's 15 ppg and his QB rating is 73 with 24 ints in 20 losses.
Jeremy Green (4:31 PM)
Thanks Anthonhy appreciate the love. I still think you can point to the D in a lot of those instances though because the D digging holes early does put Cutler under pressure at times I think to try to do more then he is capable of.
Brett (LA)
When the D gives up 24 pts or less, Cutler is 11-1 i believe.
eric kck
i doubt the chiefs would do it but would denver trade cutler for cassel straight across, if not what would it take. to me i think cutler would work better with haley like kurt warner
Jeremy Green (4:34 PM)
I don't think that happens. I would bet that Pioli guaranteed Belichick he would not send Cassel to Denver. New England never wanted Cassel in Denver... if they did they could have done a better deal then the deal they got from the Chiefs.
Brad(NM)
Hey JG..I have no gotten your perspective on T.O. in Buffalo yet. It's a one year thing and he should be on his best behavior if he wants one more big contract after this. Can he and Edwards work well together or should Buffalo seriously try and get Cutler?
Jeremy Green (4:38 PM)
T.O. in Buffalo is going to be a mess. Hands are average at this point and he will be trying to catch a frozen pill late in the year? I don't t think he will be good for Edwards either because TO is tough on QB's and you are talking about a guy in Edwards who still has a lot to learn.
Lee - New York
Jeremy - How about some love...Shaun Rogers and Cleveland's #5 pick to Denver for Cutler...Denver then picks Sanchez at 5 and Malauga at #12, sign a Jeff Garcia type to fill in while Sanchez develops. Upgrades the D significantly.
Jeremy Green (4:42 PM)
I like a lot of that. Can't be Garcia though because he can only play in the West Coast offense. He would struggle in the McDainiels spread O ala Favre in NYJ. I think Cutler to CLE mamkes some sense but Quinn is going to have to be involved .
Brett (LA)
Lee's idea is horrible. Why would denver trade away a franchise QB only to draft one in the first round? Why not just keep the one you have? if denver trades Cutler, uses the draft picks to rebuild the defense. Anything else is dumb.
Jeremy Green (4:43 PM)
Brett I would not advocate trading a franchise QB but your new leader Josh McDaniels could lose this fotball team before they have even had an off-season workout.
Brent, Indianapolis, IN
Can Bengals fans expect a better '09 w a rested, healthy Palmer, emerging D and hungry Benson?
Jeremy Green (4:45 PM)
Better probably but still not better then 3rd in the division. Benson is still a ? and so is the O-line and receiver positions which are all critical to Palmer having success.
Paul (San Diego)
How much of the Chargers last season record of 8-8 can be blamed on Turner? We lost a ton of those games by less than 3 points, isnt that coaching? Or just a product of bad luck or a bad team?
Jeremy Green (4:46 PM)
A ton of it was Turner. I think a lot of it was Cottrell and even though he was out at midseason the team then had to adjust to Rivera... a lot of it was coaching.
MJ (Boston)
Jeremy - I'm so dissapointed I missed the first 45 mins of this chat....Where do you rank Jay Cutler in regards to starting QBs? Would you rather have him or Romo?
Jeremy Green (4:47 PM)
Cutler is in my top 10 without sitting here and ranking them. I would rather have Cutler over Romo... Cutler might have a SB ring if he had that same D over the past two seasons.
Morgan (Ocean City)
Please speculate on Brandon Marshall. Can he recover from, say, an 8 game suspension? What happens if there is yet another incident in the future?
Jeremy Green (4:51 PM)
No need to speculate about 8! The latest charges were dropped so I would say 1-2 tops and not sure Goodell can ding him at all without NFLPA action since again the charges were dropped. Marshall has the skills to be a dominant 1 for years to come but I question whether HE GETS IT at this point.
Joe (Charlotte, NC0
Not that I am a huge Luke McCown fan but doesn't this say something about his character that he has to hear all this Cutler to Tampa talk but hasn't opened his mouth. Much different that the QB that is being talked about.
Jeremy Green (4:52 PM)
But Joe?? You just said it.... he is Luke McCown man... what is he going to say?
Brandon (Queen Creek AZ)
In response to Lee and Brent I will repost my idea from earlier - How about Cutler/Scheffler for Quinn/Rogers/#5 pick. Cle gets great young qb and his best friend to replace KW and Denver gets back a young qb with potential that has played in a similar system at ND and a beast at NT(huge need for Den) and then they can take Crabtree at 5 and Jackson at 12.
Brett (LA)
I don't see how the league can give him 8 games after the charges were dropped by authorities in a couple of hours. Even for the NFL, that would be really draconian
Jeremy Green (4:52 PM)
thats what I said.
Andy (Denver)
What's your take on Tiger? Any majors this year?
Jeremy Green (4:53 PM)
Yeah... I think two majors for Tiger. US and British Opens
Jeremy Green (4:53 PM)
Pitt up 8 for those of you without TV... shockingly their biggest lead of the day.
Arsen, Hudsonville, MI
Between the Lions, Bucs, and Browns. Which of those 3 teams have the better package setup to get Cutler?
Jeremy Green (4:55 PM)
I would have to say the Lions based on the first pick in the draft.... Browns 2nd because they have #5 and Quinn... Bucs last.
E. Tenn St.
Make that 3.
Jeremy Green (4:56 PM)
4 now
MJ (Boston)
I was reading Cleveland was saying, Kellen Winslow's knees were getting worse, and he doesn't have the speed and separation anymore? He was flagged for the most offensive pass interferences in the NFL. Do you think he's damaged goods?
Jeremy Green (4:58 PM)
I disagree. I think he can still play. I think a lot of that is smoke and mirrors with Randy Lerner and the new staff who saw Winslow blow his top last year (and justifiably so) after the incident with the staph infection he hid for their benefit.
Mike Shanahan (on a beach)
This is pretty fun.
Jeremy Green (4:59 PM)
On that note Tan Man and Teflon Don... great last comment from Shanny himself.
Jeremy Green (5:00 PM)
Everyone have a great weekend... be safe and enjoy the hoops... going to enjoy the end of Dayton-WVU... FLyers by 2 with 5 left... Catch you back here next Friday. C-yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
