Mark Garrow (2:56 PM)
DId you hear how I scored 900 points last week?....I even amazed myself...Alright, let's get this partaaayyyy started..
Ryan (Houston,TX)
What's up with Roush racing? They have basically hit rock bottom over the last few weeks. Can Roush rebound this week at Texas or has everyone caught up with them. I'm assuming Roush has corrected their engine problems that plaqued them in Vegas.
Mark Garrow (2:58 PM)
I'm like you Ryan, Roush is in a little bit of a slump...tracks like Texas in the past have been right down their alley, but I'm not sure sure this week..Edwards, Biffle, McMurray and Kenseth should be top-10 potential...but I'm not how many can run top-five and I don't see Edwards winning a third straight in Texas..And that has nothing to do with their engines problems, which I'm sure they got to the bottom of..
ryan (ohio)
What do you think of tony jr. leaving becoming a car cheif for jr. and then tony sr. come over and be crew chife
Mark Garrow (3:00 PM)
That would work out great...for everybody to have Tony Jr. and Pops as co-crew chiefs..but don't see that happening because Pops is up to his eyeballs taking care of Junior's Nationwide program and I don't think he wants any more travel than necessary..
Beth WV
Mark, Scored a 777 last week great picks with Montoya and Newman. How is this for Texas 24-11-83-33-39. Thanks Darlin
Mark Garrow (3:02 PM)
But you didn't beat my 900...ah ha...lol...I like your Texas team it has potential...You might keep an eye on improving by dropping the 11 that might be a possibility..I think I'd rather have Kurt Busch and open up some more cap space just in case.
Steiny (NYC)
Why is Roush Fenway Racing so bad on short tracks?
Mark Garrow (3:04 PM)
There's no big explanation to it, they just don't work on it as hard as they do the intermediate superspeedways..In the past they haven't put as much into the plate or short track races because that's not the size tracks that dominates the Cup Series schedule.

QUESTION TO MARK GARROW AT 3.10 PM HI MARK GARROW WHOS IT GONNA BE THIS SUNDAY
Mark Garrow (3:05 PM)
Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon are my top-two picks..
Nick Rolando (Orlando)
Is it safe to say I could pick the whole Roush team pretty safe this weekend?
Mark Garrow (3:07 PM)
You know Nick I would usually agree with that but I don't have as much confidence in them as I normally would on a track this size. Edwards has been decent but not great so far this year on 1.5 to 2 mile tracks..Kenseth hasn't done much after wining California..Biffle has a pair of top-fives but has been no real threat to win..McMurray and Ragan have been up and down too..
jake (Orlando, FL)
Which direction will EGR go as the season wears on? Will they be able to keep Truex or will he go to Stewart-Haas in ?10? Anywhere else he could go?
Mark Garrow (3:09 PM)
It will be interesting to see what happens...8 car's final race is probably this weekend...If Truex keeps finishing like this and has no chance to make the Chase he's gone..and all your left with is Juan Pablo Montoya...The future isn't tha rosy I'm afraid at Earnhardt - Ganassi...rooting for them, but it could get ugly near the end of the season.
Sallad (MB Canada)
Will Kevin Harvick ever win again?
Mark Garrow (3:11 PM)
He should get another victory before the season is over...All they need to do is find a little bit more speed..I think the cars and engines are competitive.
Cactus Jack (new mex)
is david ragan worth a gamble this week? maybe reutimann? how bout hornish for budget?
Mark Garrow (3:12 PM)
I think Ragan's too expensive..Kurt Busch much more upside and cheaper to boot..Reutimann might be worth a small gamble...but not Hornish.
Mark (Dallas, TX)
It appears NASCAR officials have something against Vickers, but what was actually leaking? What is the rule?
Mark Garrow (3:13 PM)
All I say is let's forget about that and put Vickers on our Texas team and let him corral a top-10 finish...
Saul (San Diego)
General Garrow: Other than Mr. RH & JR, everyone feels it?s time for Eury Jr to go. So maybe the Nat?l Guard should move in, relief Eury of his crew duties, award him the Legion of Merit, replace him with a top level CC, then give the 88 team a Patton type speech. Now, I want you to remember that no driver ever won a race by crashing or blowing an engine for his team. He won it by making the other poor driver crash for his team. Now, the 88 is a team that lives, eats, sleeps, fights as a team. This dysfunctional team stuff is a bunch of crap. The bilious bastards who wrote that stuff about our June-bug and 88 team for the newspaper don?t know anything more about real racin than they do about fornicating. We have the finest RH equipment, the best spirit and the best men in the world. You know, by God I actually pity those other poor 42 cars we?re going up against. By God, I do. The other 42 cars on the track are the enemy. Wade into them. Spill their engine blood. Put them in wall. Kick the hec out of all the other cars all the time and we're gonna go through them like dung through a goose?.anyway, what your take on the whole thing?
Mark Garrow (3:15 PM)
Wow...Saul...tell me how you really feel...bottom line though, Tony Jr. is not going anywhere anytime soon...There are other problems there beside Tony Jr..
Jill (FL)
Who has a better shot at the chase, the 26 or 83?
Mark Garrow (3:16 PM)
I think the 83 has a better shot..but they've got to figure out a way to "close the deal.
Curt (Oxford, MS)
What do you think are the other problems beside Tony Jr?
Mark Garrow (3:19 PM)
I think there's a communication breakdown during the race...and Junior might and again I emphasize might be in the kind of shape he needs to be in...He's working out more now and watching his diet that should help him immensely..They also need a little luck...For example look at Richond last year...had that race won until Busch took them out..
Mark (Mount Airy,MD)
Hey Mark, Kudos to Allmendinger for his season so far. What does RPM do if they can't get sponsorship after the Coke 600 for the #44???? Do they move sponsorship to the #44 from one of the other teams or move AJ to a different ride??????
Mark Garrow (3:20 PM)
I don't know Mark...interesting question because he's staying stride for stride with Kasey Kahne and seems light years ahead of Sorenson and Sadler..I doubt they'd want to lose him.
J (elk grove, ca)
where do u put smoke on these cookie cutter tracks? seem like they have a really good short track and plate program
Mark Garrow (3:21 PM)
I think Smoke has a chance to run from 7th to 14th at Texas...I don't see him winning yet, but another top-10 would not be a shocker.
Hal (New Orleans)
Should I start taking a chance with an A.J. Allmendinger? My only week-link right now is Truex...and to be honest I'm tired of watching his mediocre finishes...
Hal (New Orleans)
What are your thoughts on the 10 the rest of the way...15th in Cup standings right now....I've been impressed...looks like his top 5 at Daytona was a nice precursor to a good start to the season
Mark Garrow (3:22 PM)
Yeah, you need to stay away from Martin Truex, Jr. that's for sure...Allmendinger might turn out to a good place to head.
JC (bakersfield)
26 or 9? how bout waltrip?
Mark Garrow (3:23 PM)
tough call..I think 9 is safer pick..Waltrip top-25..
Nick Rolando (Orlando)
Mark, also do you think NAPA will leave MWR and sponsor Kenseth next year since DeWalt is leaving?
Curt (Oxford, MS)
I need two from Group A, 4 from Group B, and 2 from group C. A: 18, 24, 48, 99, 16, 17, 33, 5, 29. B: 2, 6, 9, 14, 1, 42, 00, 88, 39, 83, 26. C: Dinger, Ambrose, Sorenson, Labonte, Speed, Hornish Jr., Robby Gordon. Thanks Guru!
Mark Garrow (3:28 PM)
18 and 24...B...2 ...83....C...Dinger..and either Ambrose or Labonte..
Nate, Nebraska
with the addition of a full time Engineer do you see things looking up for Scott Riggs and TBR...seems like the "handling" tracks have bit us bad this year
Mark Garrow (3:29 PM)
They've got some issues to work on...really surprised to see them struggling the last few weeks after they made Daytona and Fontoa.
Mark (Mount Airy,MD)
Hey Mark, How do you think Kasey Kahne will do this weekend?????
Mark Garrow (3:30 PM)
a lock top-15...and maybe sneak a top-10...win..no...top-five highly unlikely.
Howard ; Ohio
Mark how about your top 10
Mark Garrow (3:31 PM)
Here's my top-30..1. Kyle Busch 2. Jeff Gordon 3. Carl Edwards 4. Kurt Busch 5. Jimmie Johnson 6. Clint Bowyer 7. Greg Biffle 8. Brian Vickers 9. Matt Kenseth 10.Denny Hamlin 11.Tony Stewart 12.Jeff Burton 13.Dale Earnhardt, Jr. 14.Jamie McMurray 15.Kevin Harvick 16.Kasey Kahne 17.Mark Martin 18.Ryan Newman 19.David Reutimann 20.David Ragan 21.Martin Truex, Jr. 22.A.J. Allmendinger 23.Juan Pablo Montoya 24.Marcos Ambrose 25.Bobby Labonte 26.Michael Waltrip 27.Casey Mears 28.David Stremme 29.David Gilliland 30.Joey Logano
Saul (San Diego)
I asked this question of Mr. Hinton, what was the craziest or strangest pre-race superstitions a driver went through? He said the following: ED Hinton: Gotta put this as delicately as possible, but in Junior Johnson's cars, especially during the Darrell Waltrip era, they would hang a -- er -- part of a raccoon's anatomy over the rearview mirror. Mark, have you seen any that you can share?
Mark Garrow (3:34 PM)
Well Kyle Petty used to believe he had to wear, washed of course, the same pair of underwear under his uniform for the entire season...by the of the year it would be just a rubber band with a piece of loin cloth..lol..but when he was driving for the Wood Brothers...somebody saw that after a race and thought it was just a and "old rag"..so they dumped it...Kyle drove from North Carolina up to Virginia that week to comb through dump in Stuart..where he he found his lucky rubber band...I'm mean his lucky pair of underwear...lol....People must have thought he was crazy!
Curt (Oxford, MS)
You really think Gordon will be that good this week? He has never been good at Texas. I needed 4 from group B!!!!
Mark Garrow (3:35 PM)
Yes, I do...don't think he wins but finishes second or third...as for group B..sorry about that...I might add the 14 and 88..
Big Mama (Yazoo)
Dale Jr. for the win, marky mark.
Mark Garrow (3:36 PM)
Sorry Big Mama....no......not goin to happen..
Eric (Charlottesville, VA)
What are the odds of the 33 getting the checkered flag?
Mark Garrow (3:36 PM)
I see another strong performance from Clint but I don't see a checked flag in his near future.
Steiny (NYC)
Do you believe the new layout at the All Star race going to be a great addition, or should they have kept it the same?
Mark Garrow (3:37 PM)
I think new format will help...something had to be done the old format did not work..
nathan corona ca [via mobile]
hey my team is 24 48 18 83 82. what do u think would b a good replacement for scott speed?
Mark Garrow (3:40 PM)
Nathan...I don't really see anyone that has a price near 82 to replace him..might bump up a little if you have little bit more $$ and take Logano 14.3...Speed could come through with a top-20, which would be great because 24,48, and 18 have a chance to win run top-five..83 pencil in for solid top-10..
Willy Wonka
Guru: In a survivor league and need a driver to finsih top 20 this weekend to stay alive. Already used 24, 18, 16, 99, 48, and 11. Thanks brotha
Mark Garrow (3:42 PM)
I need some chocolate bad man....I think you can use 39, 5,00,83..17,26,33,31,29,9...those are the ones that I feel pretty good about.
Steiny (NYC)
Can Newman carry his momentum of back-to-back top 10s at the short tracks into Texas?
Mark Garrow (3:43 PM)
I can see him finishing top-10 again..yes I can..
Steiny (NYC)
Who is looking better right now. Jeff Gordon or Kyle Busch?
Mark Garrow (3:44 PM)
I think Kyle Busch is a little better..because he's won already this year..Gordon's been close but hasn't been able to close the deal.
Ryan WV
Who your top ten for Texas this week?
Mark Garrow (3:45 PM)
1. Kyle Busch 2. Jeff Gordon 3. Carl Edwards 4. Kurt Busch 5. Jimmie Johnson 6. Clint Bowyer 7. Greg Biffle 8. Brian Vickers 9. Matt Kenseth 10.Denny Hamlin
Willy Wonka
Guru: I will have your chocolate on race day. Safer pick for a top 20 this weekend, 2, 83, or 33? Anybody ever tell you, you are the man? Thanks brotha
Mark Garrow (3:46 PM)
I rank them 2,33,83...feel good though all three will be at least top-20..83 has finished top-10 in every race this year on 1.5 to two mile track.
james (pa)
true or false, denny hamlin will NEVER win another race again. i say true!
Mark Garrow (3:48 PM)
Come on James ...wheres the love...he's going to win again...too close not to...did you know since winning at Martinsville a year ago..over next 36 races, he has finished third eight times...not to mention two straight runner-ups the last two weeks...It's going to happen..prepare yourself..and don't hurt yourself...lol..
Mark Garrow (3:51 PM)
Looks like that's wrap folks...by the way that 900 points I scored last Sunday.....April Fools!...Did you know the max amount of points you can get with five picks is 865....well..now you know...Don't forget the chat coming up Sunday morning from Texas...until then may the force be with you...AND...THE GURU has left the building..
Will (Fayetteville, NC)
Do you think Darlington will ever get a second date back? I think Darlington in the chase would be awesome.
Mark Garrow (3:52 PM)
No to second date...agree it would be awesome..but not going to happen either..sorry...I'm on your side with that one.
Billy (TN)
All Knowing-All Seeing, A historical question, why is it 43 cars that qualify as opposed to some other number and why the top 35 in owners points? Thank you Swami
Mark Garrow (3:55 PM)
43 deal came from how many cars we used to be able to run on the bigger tracks..number of pit road stalls they had...For awhile, we used to qualify 36 on the short tracks if memory serves me correctly..but so many teams kept showing up NASCAR didn't want that many cars going home so they locked in 43 on short tracks too...By the way first race at Darlington they started 75 cars...guy starting 43rd Johnny Mantz won...
Ryan Wv
Why do people call you the Guru
Mark Garrow (3:56 PM)
I apparently answered so many questions right last year...the ESPN faithful chatters began calling me the Guru and it stuck..apparrently ..I'm all seeing and knowing...lol..
Willy Wonka
Guru: Need 4 out of these to go to war with... 9, 83, 00, 6, 39, 12. I realize this is pre qualifying and practice, but roster has to be set today. Thanks brotha.
Mark Garrow (3:57 PM)
83,9,39,00..00 close call over 6..
james (pa)
i'd be more worried about him if he blows another lead. he has so much pent up aggression, i bet. its comical watching him blow win after win. you can almost see it coming every time he takes the lead. its the most predictable thing in all of NASCAR
Mark Garrow (3:58 PM)
Again, James...Hamlin will win again...and again...and again before he quits...As Kyle Busch said once don't hate my talent man......it might however take a witch doctor to get ride of the bad mojo Hamlin's riding around with...lol..
Mark Garrow (3:59 PM)
Okay for real this time...THE GURU has left the building...talk to you Sunday!
