Chat with Jeremy Maclin

Maclin had a monster season in 2008, with 102 catches (sixth in the country) and 1,260 receiving yards to go with his 13 TDs. The redshirt sophomore also had over 1,000 receiving yards in his first sesaon with Missouri in 2007. He finished the 2007 season as both a first team all-American as well as first team freshman all-American.
According to Maclin's Scouts Inc.'s draft profile, he is "fluid turning upfield, can make the first defender miss and reaches top speed quickly. Great instincts and he can spin away from corners after catching the ball with his back to the defense. Reads blocks well and can turn a bubble screen into a long gain in a flash. Can bounce off arm tackles and flashes an effective stiff arm. Coughs the ball up a little too much."
Send in your questions now, then join Maclin on Monday at noon ET!

Jeremy Maclin will be here at noon ET to take your questions!
Jonathan (Westerville, Ohio)
Do you feel that 40 time is overblown in terms of the draft? Some players who ran bad 40's have become Hall of Famers at both receiver and corner.
Jeremy Maclin (12:03 PM)
I think it all comes down to what the scout wants to look at. I think it comes down to field speed. I think I've shown how fast I am with pads on, on the field and I performed 4.31 and 4.40 in the 40. But I think it may be a little overblown.
Marcus (Indiana)
What was your favorite NFL team growing up?
Jeremy Maclin (12:03 PM)
I was a Rams fan, with the greatest show on turf with Torry, Marshall, Isaac and Kurt.
Aaron (K.C.)
Hey Jeremy, we'll miss you at tha ZOU. That said what do you feel is your biggest strength aand weakness headed toward the draft?
Jeremy Maclin (12:05 PM)
My biggest strength is my playmaking ability. I feel every time I touch the ball I can make a big play. A lot of scouts do not like the fact that I have not played outside receiver, but it's something I think I can step in and do, so I would not really call it a weakness.
Kev (NYC)
I'm sure you respect him, but how are you better than Percy Harvin?
Jeremy Maclin (12:06 PM)
I'm not going to say anything about anyone else's talent. I will talk about me. I have a bigger body frame. I feel I played more at the WR position in college than he did. I think I bring a lot to the table.
Mark
Now that you are gone, least favorite team in the Big 12? Any team you really ahted and why?
Jeremy Maclin (12:08 PM)
Definitely KU. I know about the rivalry but I did not really know the rivalry until I got there. You just grow to hate KU at everything, from the volleyball team to the baseball team.
jason (nebraska)
a player on missouri said nebraska is the dirtiest team they ever played is that true
Jeremy Maclin (12:09 PM)
There were some incidents, and that is another bad blooded rivalry. I would not say they are the dirtiest team. Nothing happened to me so I am not complaining. But apparently there was an incident.
Matt (Norman, OK)
What do you think will be the toughest part about the transition from college to the NFL and why?
Jeremy Maclin (12:10 PM)
I think that going 21+ weeks instead of 16 will be a tough transition. You have the preseason games, and the bye week and hopefully the playoffs in the NFL. So it is a longer season than college football. It may be more of a challenge.
chris (orlando)
who did you have in the ncaa final four?
Jeremy Maclin (12:12 PM)
Three of my teams are out. I had Syracuse, beating UNC, I had Duke, my only team left is UConn.
chris (orlando)
you hear any thing about how your former qb at mizz chase d is looking for the draft?
Jeremy Maclin (12:13 PM)
I have not heard much. Honestly, from what I understand, he is projected in the later rounds, and it sucks because people overlook production and focus a little too much on size and height. I mean it is part of the process. But his numbers definitely do not lie.
Aaron (K.C.)
What brought you to MIZZOU? I'm sure with your talent a lot of "higher profile" schools were after you, what was the sales pitch?
Jeremy Maclin (12:15 PM)
Funny, because I was committed to Oklahoma first. There was a family atmosphere at Mizzou and I think you saw it at my press conference and I wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to be part of an up and coming program. I feel we were part of bringing Mizzou to the next level. Unfortunately, we did not win the Big 12 title, but I can see that coming in the near future.
Jason (Class)
If you could be receiving from any QB in the league right now, who would you pick?
Jeremy Maclin (12:16 PM)
I was and will always be a Peyton Manning fan, but hopefully I go in the draft a little earlier than when the Colts pick. But beggars cannot be choosers. I just want to get in somewhere and make a name for myself.
Coop (Orlando)
What WR do you want to pattern your game after in the NFL?
Jeremy Maclin (12:17 PM)
Not necessarily want to, but I have similarities to other receivers, but I think everyone wants to put their own imprint on the game.
jason (nebraska)
do you believe the two best teams played for the natioal title
Jeremy Maclin (12:18 PM)
Yes. Definitely.
chris (orlando)
what wr in nfl history do you look up ??
Jeremy Maclin (12:19 PM)
Torry Holt, for sure. He is a guy I grew up watching. He is around 6' and his style of play is how I see myself.
Mark
True or false, college football needs a playoff system?
Jeremy Maclin (12:21 PM)
True. True, by a long shot. I think you use the BCS system to establish a playoff and then you have the playoffs. I would say take the Top 8.
Jeremy Maclin (12:22 PM)
I appreciate all the questions and hopefully I will be able to talk to you guys again soon.
