Tim Graham (2:58 PM)
Good afternoon, everybody. Thanks for checking in. Let's get started.
Frank, CA
Hey Tim. I'm dying to get this question answered because I just don't get it (3rd times the charm right? Sorry for the repeated post an hour before you get here. Expect to see a few more. I really wanna know!). Why would the players union fight reducing rookie salaries? Veteran players (the majority of the union members) only stand to benefit because there would be more money available for their paychecks and owners would be happy to pay players with a proven record. Why would they fight it?
Tim Graham (3:01 PM)
The union loves uncapped rookie salaries. When veteran contracts expire, they then can compare themselves to the escalating rookie deals. For instance, Jordan Gross was thankful Jake Long was the No. 1 overall pick last year. Gross then could demand a similar contract this year. Besides, with a salary cap, it doesn't really matter how the money is allocated. The owners will pay the same. It's just a matter of where they money goes.
Concerned Jets Fan (NY, NY)
Who is better right now, Clemens or Ratlif? does either have a shot at becoming a better than average starter in this league?
Tim Graham (3:03 PM)
It's hard to say because Eric Mangini's practices were closed, and the last we've seen of Ratliff was under the preseason lights. But Clemens is the only quarterback on the roster who has faced live bullets. That makes him at least 1A on the depth chart. I'd like to see either quarterback play behind a solid line before I pass judgment on mediocrity. They're both young and still need a shot to show what they can do.
Raul (South Shore, Mass)
Hi Tim. When is Chad Pennington going to get his due? Anytime he has had a decent supporting cast, and has been healthy, he's proved to be a top 10 qb. He'd be a perfect fit on this Jets squad - any chance of a return to NYC via trade this year or free agency next year?
Tim Graham (3:04 PM)
It just comes down to his arm. Fans love the rocket-armed quarterback, and touch passes just aren't that thrilling. But you're right: At the end of the day, Pennington will produce.
Josh (Buffalo)
Hey Tim, its been reported that the Bills are shopping Roscoe Parrish. What type of compensation do you think he can draw?
Tim Graham (3:05 PM)
That's the stage of the trade process the Bills are in now. They're dangling him out there to see what the market will be.
Nick, Orlando
You are sick with brick(breaker) How do you do that? What is really scarry is that it takes another 3 million to hit the leaderboard. Go Tim GO! break the 10,000,000 record.
Tim Graham (3:07 PM)
I know. I get feelings of shame whenever I put down my phone and realize I could have read a book or cleaned out the garage. But I'm closing in on 600,000 with 185 lives. If my phone doesn't crash, I have a shot to break the record some time in December.
John Geneva
You never answer my Questions I asked the same as Josh from Buffalo, hometown bias?
Tim Graham (3:08 PM)
So what? You got your question answered. Or do you come here because you get some sort of thrill from seeing "John" on your monitor?
Jason Peters-Buffalo
When am i getting out of here?
Tim Graham (3:09 PM)
I'm not so sure you are.
jason NY
Hey Tim, What do you think of Seth McKinney? Is he a good enough starter or would Buffalo be able to get a better guard in the draft?
Tim Graham (3:10 PM)
He could start, but those days realistically are behind him. Too much wear and tear. He'll be a nice backup for the Bills, but if he becomes the regular starter, it won't be a positive development.
Steiny (NYC)
Jason Taylor Would Rather Retire Than Be Ineffective for Yet Another Season as a Jet. Your thoughts?
Tim Graham (3:10 PM)
False. I think if the Jets were the ONLY team interested, he would hook up with them rather than retire.
Jason Peters- Buffalo
What makes you believe that im not leaving? Ill hold out again and be a distraction and cost Jauron his job!!!
Tim Graham (3:11 PM)
Check the story in my blog that has a big picture of you on top of it.
Ed Hoculi (Chat Ref)
That's a 15 yard penalty on John Geneva for whining to the Chatter. repeat 2nd down.
Roy Morrison (Santa Monica, CA)
TG - Don't you think that whoever wins the Jets starting QB job- Clemens, Ratliff or Ainge- will be a huge upgrade over the disaster that was Brett Favre?
Tim Graham (3:11 PM)
Not necessarily. It CAN get worse than Favre.
Beastmode_23- Chippewa
Hey Tim, wanna come be my DD tonight? Oh Im on probation nevermind!!!!
Tim Graham (3:12 PM)
You play Dungeons & Dragons?
susan (providence)
How long do you think it will take Tom Brady to be back to the QB we're used to in New England? Will the preseason be enough?
Tim Graham (3:13 PM)
That's the $14.65 million question. OTAs start next month. I'm looking forward to taking a gander with my own eyes.
Dave, NY
Firstly i think i speak for all Jets fans when i say that Jason Taylor can go and do one. Secondly have you heard anything about how Miles Austin's visit went today? when can we expect to here if we have given him a offer, and if we do, do you expect the Boys to match it?
Tim Graham (3:14 PM)
That's a great volley, Dave. I have not heard how Austin's visit went, but after the chat I'll be checking into it. Whatever I hear, I'll post it on the blog.
Steve, Fort Myers
Do you see the Fins drafting a pass rusher in the first, then signing Taylor to mentor, or would that slow the growth process on the young guys like Ireland said?
Tim Graham (3:15 PM)
Quite the opposite. If the Dolphins draft another pass rusher, they won't have room for Taylor. I think the Dolphins would consider Taylor most of all if they don't get a pass rusher they want in the draft.
Tom Brady (Costa Rica)
Im fine, was throwing the ball around with my trophy wife and our armed gaurds yesterday.
Tim Graham (3:15 PM)
Shotgun formation?
Beastmode_23
No, but did you see the co-creator of D and D died today?
Tim Graham (3:16 PM)
You're kidding! I'm surprised there haven't been riots at MIT.
Roscoe Parrish
I wanna go home to Miami!!! Where theres all women and no winter!!!
Tim Graham (3:17 PM)
The last thing the Dolphins need is another slot receiver. They already have Greg Camarillo and Davone Bess.
Mike, Rochester
If the Bills could get the 1st and 3rd for Peters, as you masterfully wrote in the blog entry, I think they should pull the trigger in the second. But I think they are nuts to do it for just a 2nd or even a 2nd and a 3rd. Do you think there's a chance the Eagles or anyone else would give up that much (please say yes!)
Tim Graham (3:20 PM)
"Masterfully" is a word that should never be used to describe my work, but thank you. ... Based on the people I've spoken to over the past few weeks, a first and a third (and maybe a late-round pick or two) are warranted. So I absolutely could see another team making that trade.
Jill Parcells
Wouldn't Roscoe be an upgrade over Davone Bass?
Tim Graham (3:21 PM)
Hey would be, but he'd also be more expensive as a second-round pick. Bess wasn't drafted at all, and teams that find an undrafted gem like that take extra pride in those guys.
Shane (Los Angeles, CA)
Which AFC East team do you see as most likely to be a mover/dealer on Day 1 of the draft? Seems like the Pats are primed to do a number of different things.
Tim Graham (3:22 PM)
They have 11 picks and six in the top 97 slots. I'm sure they'll be active.
Dylan (New York)
Would signing Miles Austin be a good move for the Jets?
Tim Graham (3:24 PM)
he would be a nice pickup for the Jets and fill a need. He has decent size (6-2), speed and is a coaches dream. Another undrafted kid.
Ken (Cape Cod)
Hey Tim, any news on Peppers? Are the Patriots still the front runners in a trade if Carolina deals him(only if he signs the franchise tender obviously)? I've heard the Eagles are possible canidates for a trade because of their two first rouders. What do you think?
Tim Graham (3:25 PM)
Peppers talk has dried up in recent weeks. I haven't heard much of anything.
Dolphins Believer (Miami,FL)
Wouldn't Miles Austin be a good fit for the Dolphins, as a #2 reciever or a slot guy?
Tim Graham (3:26 PM)
I recall Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero floating that before free agency even started. Austin did make the Cowboys' roster when Parcells, Sparano and Ireland were there.
Raul (South Shore, Mass)
Any thought by the Jets of moving Vernon Gholston to DE this year? His story could be similar to Kiwanuka (DE in college, failed as OLB in NFL, thrived when moved back to DE).
Tim Graham (3:27 PM)
I don't foresee that in a 3-4 scheme. He played defensive end in Ohio State's 4-3.
Ernest Wilford (Miami)
Hey Tim! Why should Parcells and Co. draft another receiver? I'm a 6'4 monster possesion receiver...I was just sick all of those games.
Tim Graham (3:27 PM)
When you say monster, do you mean albatross?
Tim Graham (3:28 PM)
I take that back ... You weren't an albatross. Let's say a three-toed sloth.
Jason Smith
Im better than Peters, trade Peters to the Rams for #2 and draft me Buffalo!!!!
Tim Graham (3:29 PM)
I'm not so sure the Rams would part with their No. 2 pick for somebody else's headache.
Anthony (NYC)
Tim but is Austin worthy of risking a 2nd rd pick for? Also hasn't he been a frequent visitor on the injury list the past 2-3 seasons?
Tim Graham (3:31 PM)
He does have injury problems. That is a concern. You also have to factor in that the Jets have only six draft picks as it is. But the Jets probably won't be able to get an impact WR with the 52nd pick anyway.
Mike, Rochester
Wow, you made me so happy answering that the Bills could get a 1st and 3rd for Peters, especially since you are the same guy that told me in a chat a couple of weeks ago that no team would do that when they could just draft a LT themselves in round 1
Tim Graham (3:32 PM)
I didn't say that. What I said was I personally wouldn't give up a first-round pick for a malcontent when I could use my first-round pick on a left tackle. The blog I posted today, however, wasn't about my opinion. It was about Peters' market value. Two totally different things.
Tito Parcells (Miami, FL)
Do you see the Dolphins regressing this year, and if so how much?
Tim Graham (3:35 PM)
I see them regressing record-wise. Teams that enjoy a huge improvement from one season to the next generally slip back a few games in the W-L column the next season.
Nick (Bills, NY) :
hey hoculi, call one on graham here, hes a textbook flip flopper. remember his thoughts on if the bills would ever sign T.O.???
Tim Graham (3:36 PM)
Yes, everybody saw that coming. The Bills didn't even think it was possible until the day it happened. Might as well criticize me for having the audacity to think the Patriots would finish ahead of the 1-15 Dolphins last year.
Bill (York, PA)
Oh, c'mon Nick. Even Bills fans didn't think the Bills would ever sign TO. Realistically speaking, that is.
Franklin- Geneva
What team besides the Texans could be this years Cards?
Tim Graham (3:37 PM)
I've heard some commentators say the Bills. I don't see it, but I've heard that a couple times on the NFL Network, and I know John Clayton is high on them.
Jason Taylor
Will Dance For Food
Mike, Rochester
ok Tim, fair enough, and I certainly don't have your old chats memorized. But let me ask this (and then I'm done with Peters): If YOU were the Bills, would you move him for a 1st and a 3rd?
Tim Graham (3:39 PM)
I just wrote I wouldn't move him for a first. I certainly wouldn't move him for a first and a third.
Eric (Long Island, NY)
Hi Tim. Vic Carrucci said the situation with Peters is hopeless. He added that he spoke to a coach who sees this as a major distraction with only a trade being a possible solution. It seems to conflict a little with your report since you seem to think he will stay. What do you ultimately see happening?
Tim Graham (3:42 PM)
I haven't seen Vic's report, but he's connected in Buffalo. All I can tell you is what I know -- and I must stress this -- as of today. If a team makes the right offer, the Bills will listen. But the point of my post this morning was that the Bills will insist on receiving what they believe is fair, and those offers simply aren't there.
Dolpind4theWin (Pompano, FL)
Should I be concerned there is only one Center on the Dolphins roster and the draft looks bleak on that position? Or is there a chance to see a G be moved over
Tim Graham (3:42 PM)
Andy Alleman also plays center. He appears to be the backup.
Jason Peters
The Bills just dont want to pay elite players, ask Pat Williams, Nate Clements, Antoine Winfield.
Tim Graham (3:44 PM)
What about Lee Evans? At the time he signed his extension last year, he was the third highest-pad receiver in the league. Derrick Dockery? The Bills know how to break out the checkbook if they want to.
Anthony (NYC)
We all know that the Pats will runaway with the division only injuries could stop them. The real question is do you feel will either the Jets/Phins/Bills be able to get a wildcard?
Tim Graham (3:45 PM)
I don't, but my opinion is not based on them not being good enough as much as it's based on the tough AFC East schedule and the fact the AFC North and AFC South should have great 1-2 battles.
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
That's a personal foul against Jason Peters for whining even though he makes a ton of money to play a game, 15 yards and it remains 2nd down.
Mike (Miami)
What do you think about Jason Taylor saying he might retire if the Jets were the only team to make him an offer?
Tim Graham (3:46 PM)
No. He still has too much left in the tank. But I don't think it will come to that. Too many teams have expressed interest.
SiddownShuddup
Hey Anthony... didn't "We all know" the Pats were going to run away with the division last year too?
Tim Graham (3:47 PM)
Solid point.
Jeff (Las Vegas)
Tim, I just bit the head off of a chocolate bunny and I'm man enough to admit it. Do you see Greg Camarillo having the same impact on the Dolphins this year as he did last year?
Tim Graham (3:49 PM)
I don't because of the combination of his knee injury and the way Davone Bess played after Camarillo got hurt. I see Camarillo and Bess sharing the role more.
Brady Bunch(Boston)
If TOm Brady goes down again, will he retire or risk becoming a Daunte Culpepper?
Tim Graham (3:50 PM)
If he retires, he'd be leaving an awful lot of money on the table. He still has too much cachet and competitive drive to retire.
Bill (Pomona, California)
In your opinion Tim, if the NY Jets had a choice between Jason Taylor, Minnie Mouse, or a five minute walk on hot coals, which would they take?
Tim Graham (3:51 PM)
The Jets reportedly were one of the first teams to contact Taylor's agent when the Redskins released him. CBSSports.com's Clark Judge this week wrote a column, saying the Jets should sign Taylor. Judge made a strong case.
Pinball Pete
Greatest video game offspring of all time? Donkey Kong Jr. or Baby Pac-man?
Tim Graham (3:52 PM)
I'll have to take it a step further and say Mario Brothers, which came from Donkey Kong.
Marshawn Lynch
Since Im gone for 3 games including the MNF opener vs Pats shouldnt Brady after his posse fired on 2 photographers at his wedding.
Tim Graham (3:53 PM)
If the NFL started suspending players for what their friends did, then Ray Lewis would have been banned years ago, and half the league would have to serve rotating suspensions to make sure there were enough players on Sunday.
Tim Graham (3:54 PM)
Besides, no charges have been filed in that case. All we have are quotes from a paparazzo.
BOSTON THE CITY
when did our fans become the cockiest SOB's in the world?... we used to be a humble city.
Tim Graham (3:56 PM)
Humble? I don't know about that. But when your teams win all the time -- even the Bruins? -- it's hard not to be cocky. Every city should be allowed to enjoy that kind of run.
Marshawn Lynch
It was his bodyguard not his friends!!!
Tim Graham (3:57 PM)
According to the New York Post, it was a member of his wedding party.
Terrell Owens
This chat is voluntary, right Tim? I ain't showin up then....just kiddin, you my chat host man.
Warden George
Who's more likely to make it back to the league first... Pacman Jones or Michael Vick?
Tim Graham (3:58 PM)
Hmmmm ... I'll go with Vick. He hasn't gotten his second chance yet. It should be easier for him to find someone who's willing.
SJ (Buffalo)
How much money is Fred Jackson asking for and how come they don't just give it to him already?
Tim Graham (4:01 PM)
Jackson is comparing himself to other top No. 2 backs in the league. So that's roughly $2.5 million or so a year.
Bruce Smith
I better win the best draft choice of all time on espn.com polls, go vote for me now.
Tim Graham (4:03 PM)
He might be the best No. 1 pick of all-time. He'd be competing with Peyton Manning, though. But what about somebody like L.C. Greenwood? He was a 10th-round pick. Or Karl Mecklenburg, a 12th.
Everyone outside of Boston
Do you think there's a correlation between our complaining about Boston's fans and the amount of championships the city's won over the last seven or eight years? This has nothing to do with abject jealousy, right?
Tim Graham (4:04 PM)
Nah, can't possibly that.
Dan Marino
Cough, Cough.
Kerry Fraser (Associate Chat Ref)
2 minutes, Tim Graham, Delay of chat.
Tim Graham (4:04 PM)
I had to look up Greenwood's draft round. You caught me.
Bill (Pomona, California)
Did you ever play Doom, Tim? I used to stay up late at night and feel like crap the next day at work sometimes. Love that game.
Tim Graham (4:05 PM)
Never did get into Doom. The motion of that game gave me a headache. But I've probably wasted more of my life on video games than all my other vices combined.
Duncan
Hey Tim, are you just pretending to work and wasting time until you can leave for the weekend like the rest of us?
Tim Graham (4:06 PM)
Pretending? This is my work. I'm getting paid for this. And, no, I can't believe it either.
Andy (Orchard Park, NY)
Any news on the Fred Jackson situation? We have been bringing in other possibilities (Fred Taylor) and failing, why not lock up Fast Freddy Jackson?
Tim Graham (4:07 PM)
The Bills and Jackson are far apart in negotiations. But the Lynch suspension might stimulate talks.
Bryan- MA
Will O'Connell be Brady's backup, or will they bring in a veteran?
Tim Graham (4:08 PM)
The fact that the Patriots were courting Patrick Ramsey leads me to believe they'd like to bring in a veteran, but the options are slim.
Tom Brady
*cough* *cough*
Tim Graham (4:08 PM)
You'd be my pick.
de'quinn (miami)
hey tim, just floating this one out there. would you be a player who wins 5 championship rings and start or an all star hall of famer who wins mvp but no championships
Tim Graham (4:10 PM)
I'd take the championships. The teams I played on that were good, the greatest glory and the biggest heartbreaks were in playoff or title games.
Akili Smith
*cough* *cough*
Tim Graham (4:10 PM)
Turn your head, please.
Dr Von Clocktower, Slayerville
Do you think Bill Belichick could solve this countries economic crisis?? Would he field questions from Obama?
Tim Graham (4:10 PM)
"We're going to do whatever's best for the country."
Ken (Cape Cod)
Tim, I start college in the fall, I love writing, but im not your tipical book worm who's inspiration is dirived from novels. Mine, comes from sports. I'm a bad speller, with even worse grammar So as I enter journalism, any advice.
Tim Graham (4:13 PM)
How can you read novels and never come across the word typical?
Bill Belichick
We're just gonna take it one economic crisis at a time, we try not to look at the long-term picture
Terrell Owens
Tim, are you following me on Twitter?
Tim Graham (4:14 PM)
I have yet to Twitter anything or even take the time to figure out what it really is. I don't know whether I should be proud of that or ashamed.
Uhm, dude...
He said he doesn't read novels...
Tim Graham (4:15 PM)
He said his inspiration is "dirived" from novels. If he's not reading them, what's he doing? Looking at the pictures?

You should be me.

What was the worst Dolphins draft pick ever...Me or the fact that the Dolphins drafted Ginn over Quinn?
Tim Graham (4:17 PM)
Jason Allen at No. 16 would have to be up there. John Avery?
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
After reviewing the play, it appears the poster said "im not your tipical (sic) book worm who's inspiration is dirived (sic) from novels." The chatter did not specifically state that he does not read novels, therefore the ruling on the field stands and Tim is not in violation. The other chatters will be charged with a time out.
Tim Graham (4:19 PM)
But after seeing a replay on the big screen, I can see how that sequence might have gotten overturned. I think I dodged one there.
Phil (Boston)
Chances Marvin Harrison strikes a deal with an AFC East time before the start of the season?

Shane (Los Angeles, CA)
Two Questions: Do you think Brady returns to his Pro-Bowl form? How much flak you think Bellichek will take (like he would care!) if Brady goes down again and the Pats flop?
Tim Graham (4:21 PM)
With that complement of offensive weapons around him, Brady should roll up big numbers again. The big question is if the line can keep defenders off of him. The Patriots gave up 48 sacks last year, fifth most in the NFL.
Plaxico Burress
Hey Tim, I know the Jets or Dolphins could use me. Think I should give you my number to pass along?
Tim Graham (4:21 PM)
Your cell number or your prison number?
Ken (Cape Cod)
I said my inspiration doesn't come from novels, but sports. Seriously, any advice? Not to be a buzz kill asking a serious question, just a big fan.
Tim Graham (4:22 PM)
Drop a line in the AFC East mailbag and we can exchange some e-mails. I'd like to get a better sense for what your career objectives are.
Ken Keniff, Conneticut
Tim, I heard a rumor that you steal all your blog ideas from Lil Wayne's. Shouldnt you be ashamed as a master of journalism having to steal your words from a Blood straight outta the 17th Ward projects of New Orleans
Tim Graham (4:23 PM)
I actually steal my ideas from Paul Kuharsky, a notorious gangbanger in Nashville.

Tim - Phoenix, AZ
Those other questions stink. How long does it take for a question to comeup?
Tim Graham (4:27 PM)
You just got your shot and wasted it. Thanks for dropping by.
Nick (Coral Springs)
Hey Tim, love your blog. How good is Jason Peters? I don't follow the Bills all that much but last season he wasn't playing like an elite left tackle. How could he possibly be worth a 1st and 3rd?
Tim Graham (4:28 PM)
He might be the best left tackle in the NFL. He's a raw talent. He still has upside.
Tim Graham (4:29 PM)
On another note, I was watching the NFL Network and "Football Follies" came on. I never realized how stupid they were. I used to love watching those. But I guess I was about 9.
Drew
Tim, you wrote about Lynch's suspension and said that he could appeal. When does he have to do so and from what you're hearing, will he?
Tim Graham (4:30 PM)
He's expected to, and he has 10 days from the date he's informed of the suspension to notify the league he wants to appeal. He might have put in his notice already. The hearing can happen beyond the 10 days, though.
BradyFlossesModels, Bristol RI
Tim, my boy Rob Treut just started working outta college at ESPN, so you better start posting my comments or I will have you fired, for you will be working for him some day
Tim Graham (4:32 PM)
Technically, I'm an independent contractor. ESPN is my client. What do you think of that?
Drew
Tim have you gotten any sense from the league if Goodell will adjust? I know you wrote that he should stand his ground
Tim Graham (4:33 PM)
The league has not tipped its hand at all on this. I wouldn't be shocked if Goodell reduced the suspension to two games.
D. William Parcells (Miami)
Tim, you interested in resuming your playing days? We could use you in the Wildcat.
Tim Graham (4:34 PM)
I was a receiver who finished my high school days with four touchdown passes off reverses and another as quarterback. So I can do it, Tuna. But my 40 time probably isn't what it used to be.
Bryan- MA
How long are you chatting for today?
Tim Graham (4:34 PM)
At least until 5 p.m. ET
Dylan (New York)
If the Jets sign a WR in free agency or trade for one, what is their biggest need going into the draft? DE? TE? Please don't say QB!
Tim Graham (4:36 PM)
Not tight end. They still have Keller and Franks. They could use more help at defensive end.
Will (Boston)
If the Pats draft Pat White, will they implement the Wildcat offense at all? Will other teams in the league follow the Miami's lead?
Tim Graham (4:38 PM)
Other teams already have followed Miami's lead. About half the teams in the league had a Wildcat package to varying degrees. I do think Bill Belichick has such an active football mind that when he saw the Wildcat up close, he had to explore it himself.
Ken Tremendous (FJM.com)
Did you watch "Parks & Recreation" yesterday? Not bad.
Tim Graham (4:39 PM)
I missed it because I was writing that Jason Peters piece. But I saw both episodes of "The Office." I like where that show's going.
Jason (Miami)
Tim im a Jet fan out of Miami, I know bad combo. But I dont see why people keep looking down on the Jets QB's. When the recievers actually caught the ball and the o-line blocked clemens was pretty good. And Brett was brilliant in the preseason and i think he can be a very good option at QB.
Tim Graham (4:41 PM)
I'm not down on the Jets quarterbacks, but I'm not enthused either. This is a classic time-will-tell situation. The competition will be fun to watch in camp.
Jim Halpert (Scranton, PA)
When did you work for the Boston Herald? I'm not sure if that newspaper exists anymore, which is why I'm curious.
Tim Graham (4:42 PM)
The Boston Herald still does exist. I read it on-line every day. Still has that great bulldog mentality. I was there briefly in 1994.
Bret michigan
Tim I think you are great at what you do. I am just curious if you think the Bills could possibly trade Peters and Roscoe and their first next year to gain the 2nd overall from the rams? If so I think, they could potentially draft Aaron Curry and draft Oher with the 11th overall. What are your thoughts?
Tim Graham (4:43 PM)
Thanks for the kind words, Bret, but you're clearly delusional. ... The Bills certainly could package them both. If they do, then I think you're right that they would use the 11th pick on a tackle. That, of course, would depend on what other picks they received in return.
Thomas Jones
I dont want to play anymore Rex should just draft Moreno and let me leave they obviously cant see im in beastmode and deserve to be compensated!
Tim Graham (4:45 PM)
The Jets would hate to draft a running back so high. If they went into the offseason set at any position, it was running back.
Sam
Bigger superbowl long-shot: Kansas City or the Bills?
Tim Graham (4:45 PM)
Kansas City
Potential Trade Scenario (La La Land)
Tim, could the Pats trade their 7th round pick and Chris Hanson to Minnesota for Adrian Peterson and their next six 1st round picks?
Tim Graham (4:45 PM)
Any other team, no way. But the Patriots can pull it off. In fact, I predict that deal goes down on draft day.
Dick J (Buffalo)
Peeps or Cadbury Cream Eggs?
Tim Graham (4:47 PM)
Between the two, Peeps. But I'm more of a jelly beans guy, fistfuls at a time.

Bobby (MA)
We didn't see much of him last year, but how well do you think Tank Williams will fair as a LB and/or safety for the Pats? Or will this be another disappointing performance from a veteran DB
Tim Graham (4:50 PM)
I remember watching him in training camp last year and he was shaky. He seemed out of place at linebacker and would get pancaked far too often. But with another offseason of study under his belt, maybe he'll feel more comfortable this year.
craig (miami florida)
tim, who do you think the dolphins will end up drafting with their 1st round pick?
Tim Graham (4:51 PM)
I have a hunch it will be a receiver, Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britt.
Rex Ryan
Percentage that I will meet the president this season?
Tim Graham (4:52 PM)
13 percent
TO Buffalo
We are going to make the playoffs this year.. and we will win the division.
Tim Graham (4:53 PM)
You're on the record.
Tim's waistline (increasing)
Yep, he does love the jelly beans.
Tim (NYC)
You heard about that Padres pitcher Bell who got back into shape using Wii Fit? Someone should send Andre Smith a Wii and see if he climbs up the draft boards
Tim Graham (4:54 PM)
Maybe I need to check into that
Louis (Whitewater, WI)
Hey Tim! I love the prospect of Miami adding to the pass rush, but don't u think that a good cover corner is a more pressing need? They are going to be playing against some of thebest WR in the league.
Tim Graham (4:56 PM)
A cover corner is needed in Miami. They've been recycling retread veterans for the past few years and need a youngster to groom for the future. Vontae Davis might not still be around at No. 25. He's the best pure corner in this year's draft.
Dylan (New York)
Should the Jets trade up (in the 1st) or down (in the 2nd) and draft Jarron Gilbert? The Jets need a good pass rusher at DE.
Tim Graham (4:58 PM)
That's the one missing piece on defense, but the Jets might not be able to pass up the opportunity to add a quality quarterback or receiver.
Dylan (New York)
Woops up in the 2nd/down in the 1st
Tim Graham (4:59 PM)
Gotcha
Jeff, Mpls
Favorite Tson's punchout character: Don Flamenco or Piston Honda?
Tim Graham (5:00 PM)
Bald Bull (NOTE: I originally went with Soda Popinski, but after mulling it some more I had to change my answer.)
Phil (Boston)
If Michael Jenkins drops all the way to 23, do the Pats take him even after all the acquisitions in free-agency?
Tim Graham (5:02 PM)
I'm not sure where the Dolphins project Malcolm Jenkins. His main issue is that he might be a corner and he might be a safety. That job's already filled by Jason Allen.
Tim Graham (5:03 PM)
We've hit the two-hour mark, folks. I'll stick around a little longer.
Jesse (Boise, ID)
Wii fits only allow up to 220 pounds....Andre hasn't seen that since 6th grade.
Tim Graham (5:04 PM)
Uh oh. I'd have to lose five pounds just to exercise.
Trent Edwards
If Jason Peters leaves will I have to learn how to throw left-handed?
Tim Graham (5:05 PM)
You might want to work on throwing downfield while looking out your earhole.
Terrell Owens
Chances I make it through the season without drawing any unnecessary attention?
Tim Graham (5:05 PM)
12 percent
Pats(In Denial)
How dare you confuse us with those dirty Dolphins Tim! He asked about us!
Tim Graham (5:06 PM)
Oh, you're right. There was another Malcolm Jenkins question in the queue right next to that one.
Tim Graham (5:07 PM)
Jenkins to the Patriots would be intriguing. They need help at safety and cornerback.
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
Five yard penalty for misreading the question: "do the PATS take him." Repeat third down.
Tim Graham (5:08 PM)
My first penalty in eight months.
Michael (California)
You are wrong on wr at 25,unless a Nicks or Britt fall to 44 all 4 day one picks will be on defense, 2 cbs and 2 lbs?
Tim Graham (5:09 PM)
Am I being scolded, or are you asking me a question?
Hater (In Anger)
Why is it that everyone touts Brady as the best QB ever even over Peyton when Brady only broke the top 5 QB list in one year of play?
Tim Graham (5:10 PM)
How many quarterbacks have won three Super Bowls?
Sam (Chicago)
Could Roscoe Parrish be an option for the Bears? Maybe for a 4th rounder?
Tim Graham (5:12 PM)
A fourth-rounder sounds about right. That's what the Dolphins received from the Eagles for Lorenzo Booker.
Joe Montana
*cough cough*
Tim Graham (5:13 PM)
It was a rhetorical question, Joe. Here's a Ricola.
Hater(Continuing the struggle)
So a team victory constitutes a QB to be superior to other QBs who constantly outplay him?
Tim Graham (5:14 PM)
Championships are the No. 1 measure for an athletes. If Dan Marino has the exact same stats but had won a Super Bowl, he would be considered the best ever.
Brett Favre
Pffftt Dan Marino?? I broke all his records with my eyes closed!
Tim Graham (5:18 PM)
You looked like you played with your eyes closed the last five weeks of 2008.
William Belichick (New England)
Would Julius Peppers be an upgrade over Richard Seymour? I may watch a lot of film, but Seymour hasn't been featured on too much of it the past few years...
Tim Graham (5:19 PM)
Hard to say because Peppers hasn't played in a 3-4. That's part of the intrigue surrounding him. He wants to be a 3-4 pass rusher, but how can we know what his coverage skills are like on an every-down basis?
D (Los Angeles CA)
If Championships are so important, why isn't Jim Plunkett in the Hall? He has two...
Tim Graham (5:20 PM)
Roy Gerela has three.
Jer, VT
Sorry, Tim. But "championships are the No. 1 measure for an athletes." is absolutely friggin rediculous. Does anyone begrudge Barry Sanders being one of the top two running backs of all time? NO! So why judge Marino that way! He was simply the best. He should get EXTRA credit for not having the talent that Montana/Brady/Elway had and still being unbelievably awesome. Please go look at the stats, Marino is the best ever and its not EVEN close.
Tim Graham (5:22 PM)
This isn't about stats. It's about legacies. Barry Sanders has stats. Champions have legacies. Super Bowl titles changed John Elway's legacy forever, and not winning one has hindered Jim Kelly's and Dan Marino's. That's the way it is.
Bill (Pomona, California)
Tim, isn't that what they said about Fran Tarkenton after he retired with all the records?
Tim Graham (5:25 PM)
I think Fran Tarkenton is the most underrated Hall of Fame quarterback. But he never won the big one, and that's a mark against him.
Jer, VT
I love you for even posting my comment. You changed from "best ever" to "legacy". I think you just confirmed by ommission that Marino was the best, he just doesn't have the legacy.
Tim Graham (5:26 PM)
I can agree with that sentiment.
PS3 playa
I've won many championships on Madden, so why am I not in the HOF?
Tim Graham (5:27 PM)
I used to be unbeatable on that game until about 2003. Now I can't win to save my life. My nephews roll it up on me.
Tim's Ex Girlfiend
Man... two and a half hours and still going... if only Tim had this kind of stamina everywhere.
Tim Graham (5:28 PM)
If only you were as interesting as this chat.
Tim Graham (5:28 PM)
All right. Gotta bolt. Thanks to everybody for stopping by. I always have a blast. See you next week.
