Dana Jacobson (9:57 AM)
good morning folks! sad news yesterday with kalas and the bird. hope you enjoy the show we'll do our best to keep up with the chat!
Jason (Chicago, Il)
Home court advantage for Cleveland is HUGE!!!!
iLL Will-South Jersey
Thanks Dana, Harry Kalas was a staple in the Philly community...He will be missed
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
Very sad day today gang. As an Atlanta Braves fan, I'm saddened by the loss of Harry Kalas. I went to college in PA, with a bunch of Phillies fans and Harry was the bind that connected the era of Philly teams belonging to my pals to the teams that their parents grew up watching while bringing up their kids as Phils fans. It really is a rough day for them and all of MLB when a legend such as Harry passes away. Heaven must have been jealous of us down here having the luxury of having Harry call baseball games for us and decided it was time to team up Harry and Richie Ashburn to call games up there. Todd Kalas has called Tampa Bay Rays games for quite a while now and the thoughts and prayers of those in this area go out to he and his family. The world has certainly lost another one that enriched the lives of all those that experienced his gift.
Umor (detroit mi)
Morning DJ, The Bryd is gone. It was nice to hear ernie harwell talk about him. You could see him on the mound movin his legs and talking to the ball. miss him.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Dana: I know you are too young to remember him on the mound but Mark Fidrych was the first true character in baseball that I remember from my childhood. He was the only non-Yankee/non-Brave at that time that I wanted to see succeed.
Dana Jacobson (10:09 AM)
Johnny, I was a baby...kindergarten, but I remember. I actually will tell the story later on the show but my kindergarten teacher was a huge tigers fan and was teh first to ever say that name. I interviewed him later in life and it was a thrill looking back to see waht he really was, that part I couldn't grasp then.
Jon, Brunswick, OH
Jay, as a fellow die-hard Cleveland fan, it crushed me this morning when I saw ESPN.com's daily poll "Which was the most heartbreaking moment for Cleveland sports fans?" I understand the Cavs just clinched homecourt throughout the playoffs, but come on, the playoffs haven't started yet! Don't bring up bad memories now!
Dirk Allison Pottstown Pa
Its going to be hard listening to the phillies games anymore, Harry the K was such a part of the phillies, the only broadcaster i knew. I can remember Listening to him and whitey when i was a little kid and falling asleep to harrys voice. Its so hard to beleive Harry is gone.Im sure im not the only one to shed a tear, Hopefully Whitey and harry are together again. RIP Harry The K, You Will Be Missed
Tim (Baltimore, MD)
Even though the Cavs are the team with home court advantage throughout the playoffs, I think the Lakers can really challenge them since they are the ONLY team to beat them on the road this season. Skip, I know you are a LeBron hater, but would you concur that the Lakers are really the team to beat, especially with Andrew Bynum back?
Dana Jacobson (10:09 AM)
Tim, first and ten tackling that right now
Eric Witkowski (Dunmore, PA)
Harry Kalas: a gentleman in every sense of the word!
Dana Jacobson (10:10 AM)
We have a harry kalas look back coming up soon, the latest on thomas taking coaching job at FIU next and in hour number2 we remember the bird
Owen, NYC, New York
Whats Up Guys? Yao and the Rockets get no love they have been the 2nd best team since the all star break and under pressure both their young and new players like Ron Artest Aaron Brooks Luis Scola and Von Wafer have come up huge. and Yao has done hisjob in leading one of the best teams in the superior(more competitive)conference. Show some Love.
Dana Jacobson (10:12 AM)
Owen, von wafer is coming up later on the show...i think hour number 2. I think the reason they aren't getting love is because TMac is out. I know that sounds weird..since he's never had playoff success. But its the name factor. Yao and he were supposed to do it together - make any sense?
Brandon (Bristol, TN)
Do you guys think Manny Ramirez will be a Cleveland Indian before the end of the season?
Dana Jacobson (10:12 AM)
brandon, no
Drew (Lafayette, IN)
Why are people so convinced that team chemistry is such a factor in baseball? Look at the success the Yankees have had by just throwing money at big name players.
Dana Jacobson (10:13 AM)
Drew - what have the yanks been doing lately? I mean when was their last WS title? They needed chemistry with the money to win.
Evan, Coldwater, MI
As a loyal Lions fan I don't see how anyone can sit there in the Lions front offices and take Stafford as the first pick. The Lions desperately need to trade down picks and get a couple later round picks in the first round or a top ten pick and an early second round pick. Stafford is not the answer to the problems of Detroit and the O-line needs to be fixed before a quaterback can ever thrive there.
Dana Jacobson (10:14 AM)
Evan, I don't even know that they need to trade down. But I've been saying for some time, take jason smith not stafford. Charean williams later on the show has more info, but looks like they're leaning QB right now.
Michael Downes
Why is it the Cowboys have been shoved to the wayside?
Dana Jacobson (10:15 AM)
Michael, shoved to the wayside how? Not getting media love or respect or what? Its like the yankee thing, what have you done for me lately
carlos-orlando,fl
drew your on crack, what have the yanks done?
Dana Jacobson (10:16 AM)
carlos, may be a little overboard on the sarcasm...but drew yu are getting hammered by folks. manny as being manny!!!
John: (DeKalb, IL):
Since David Stern can't fine me, I will say it: you know that the Commish wants King James as the MVP, just like he is rooting for a Cavs - Lakers finals. We talk about it in baseball -- large market/small market, so who you got? Most marketable matchup?
Brandon (Bristol, TN)
Dana what about before Manny retires?
Dana Jacobson (10:17 AM)
Brandon, manny strikes me as a player who goes where the money, not his heart is. Not knocking him, I just think that's the reality...so if the money was right - yes.
Matt (West Lafayette)
I'm a Hoosier fan, so I love Isiah as a player, but as a coach....he doesn't do it for me.
Dana Jacobson (10:18 AM)
matt, he certainly hasn't had a lot of success as a coach. he needed another chance, as andy's saying FIU wanted the exposure, maybe with less pressure he'll flourish?
Matt
The reason the Yanks don't win is because there are no Paul O'Neills, no more Scott Brosius types on that team anymore. It's just high priced talent.
Robert :Spring, Texas
Dana will my Rockets get out of the first round!!!!!????and if they do will they turn heads??
Dana Jacobson (10:19 AM)
Robert - the tough thing out west is the matchups...not knowing who they'll face right now hard to say. Not trying to avoid it but I'd like to see the matchup
Jason( Norwalk, Oh)
How come nobody is talking about Portland possibly facing the Lakers in the second round and beating them. The Cavs do not match up well with Orlando but the lakers do not match up well with Portland.
Dana Jacobson (10:20 AM)
Jason we did talk about it a little yesterday, blazers have lakers number at home...problem is LA will have homecourt
Dana Jacobson (10:20 AM)
gotta go do a lead to a kalas piece in a moment. i'll be back. Not sure if our moderator is here or not, so you may have an idle moment. sorry. i'll post a couple things quickly
Joel (Raleigh, North Carolina)
Dana can we talk about baseball? Will infact the yankess finish third or even fourth in their division?
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
Chemsitry doesn't matter in baseball because one person makes a play. If their is a fly ball one player catches it. It's not like football and basketball, the yankees are going to prove that money wins this year.
Dana Jacobson (10:24 AM)
cody, i completely disagree. chemistry is what gets you through the bad times, which all teams have, the bad stretches...that's how teams win titles
Donny (Boston, MA)
Chemistry doesnt matter in baseball? are you kidding me? just take a look at the last handful of World Series champs. They clearly had a lot of team chemistry, something that the Yanks will never have as long as they have A-Rod
Rashad Salem,NJ
I was floored yesterday when I heard about the passing of Harry Kalas. I grew up in South Jersey, so all of the Phillies games came on. You don't love many things like you do as a kid, and my love for baseball introduced me to Harry Kalas. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of Harry Kalas guiding me through the summer. Eveytime I hearhis voice, for a split second it's like I'm ten years old again. It was like a family member died yesterday. I have never known baseball without Harry Kalas, and. This summer just won't be the same. This may sound funny coming from a guy who never actuall met him, but a part of me died yesterday. Oh how I'll miss " Swing and miss, STRUCK HIM OUT!!! Retired the side!" Or " This ball is outta here!!!" god bless Harry Kalas, he changed my life.
Damian , Oklahoma
Jason, Phil Jackson coached teams are infamous for a higher level of play come post season. The Blazers have a slim chance if the face LA
Dana Jacobson (10:25 AM)
damian, good point
Greg (ATL, GA)
Have we come to the end of era of baseball radio announcers?
Dana Jacobson (10:26 AM)
greg - i hope not, but i think so. Calas, Caray before him and Jack Buck...ernie harwell for me, vin scully, even chic hearn nba. That era produced so many great voices....
Jason(Cleveland)
No Cody is right. In baseball it's not chemistry that gets you through it. It's talent. Winning breeds chemistry.
Dana Jacobson (10:27 AM)
Jason, so why don't the yankees win every year if everyone thinks they've bought the most talent?
Phil Dekalb, IL
Ya, the Tigers go out and buy a bunch of talent, and the Rays?! win the AL pennant.
Dana Jacobson (10:27 AM)
thank you phil
carlos-orlando,fl
dana your the man!!!
Dana Jacobson (10:27 AM)
carlos i like to think i'm the woman, but i'll take that as a compliment, thanks!
Littleton Colorado
When are we going to start talking about NBA Cinderella teams in the playoffs?
Dana Jacobson (10:28 AM)
start the conversation
david (charlotte, nc)
cody...it's just a different type of team chemistry when you are talking baseball and other sports... it's almost like comparing apples to oranges... yes, to some degree baseball is slightly more of an individual performance based sport... but if you've ever played baseball, you understand that it takes a certain chemistry for a team to trust each other, and to accept a managers game plan and decision making... outfielders need chemistry with each other so that routine fly balls don't turn into bloopers... a SS and 2nd baseman need chemistry to turn a double play... pitcher and catcher need it to simply be on the same page... and on and on...
Dana Jacobson (10:28 AM)
well said david
JasonW (Cleveland, Ohio)
We have waited to long in Cleveland. The time is now. I wanna see somebody come here and take that trophy from the KING. It is not gonna happen. Just give us the trophy now.
Dana Jacobson (10:30 AM)
jason jason jason. Calm down man. You've got the reigning champs, an upstart magic team to contend with and then most likely last years runners up with more experience than you can dream of right now. i'm not saying cavs won't win, but its not a done deal
Owen, NYC, New York
Mike Downes as a fellow cowboys fan i can say that we shoved ourselves to the wayside with a terrible close to the season and an anemic offseason so far we havent earned very much love at all
Matt (Toledo, Ohio)
I am going to say Rockets Lakers WCF, Cavs Magic ECF...by the way JasonW no way is it a done deal, we have a long ways to go.
Joel(North Carolina)
LeBRON cant do anything by himself, they need a great acquistion like boston dana, they need a paul peirce, a ray allen, or rondo, or even KG, can they or will they trade for a significant help for LeBRON?
Dana Jacobson (10:42 AM)
joel mo has done his fair share this year...
carlos-orlando,fl
HEY-WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHAT
Dana Jacobson (10:44 AM)
carlos and everyone out there please be aware our usual moderator is working on a piece on mark fidrych so when jay or i can't be on here it comes to a hault. i'm doing my best but have had some adds to the show i also need to work on. see tv ain't always that easy!!!
Donny (Boston, MA)
the chat took a commercial break haha
Dana Jacobson (10:44 AM)
exactly donny
stephen kc mo
why does MO get so forgotten? Even zoe yesterday couldn't remember his name!!
Dana Jacobson (10:44 AM)
stephen, cause he plays with lebron
Darryll (brooklyn ny)
dana who's your mvp for the nba
Dana Jacobson (10:46 AM)
darryl i'd still go lebron over wade. i know the cast of characters isn't the same, but neither is their record or dominance.
Dre(Memphis)
If love is reporters pointing out everything the Cowboys do wrong and how they are not this or that...than keep your love. Im glad we aren't in the headline every day
Jason(Cleveland)
You guys must forget how close Lebron had them to beating Boston last year in Boston. They can't beat us at the Q.And to the point of by himself. Lebron has a very strong supporting cast. Probably the deepest team in the league. 1-10
Kevin (NY,NY)
There's no panic in NY. It's the first week of the season and they've showed flashes of the team they should be. The Yanks have had slow starts before and always make a run.
Dana Jacobson (10:47 AM)
kevin i'll say this, having been here for 6 years i can't even count the times we've counted the yanks out early and they've bounced back. it is soooo early. if you're panicking now, you need a life
Greg (ATL, GA)
The Flying Hawaiian is getting by J! Even though I'm a Braves fan Shane Vitorino is still a class act.
Dana Jacobson (10:47 AM)
greg, he's awesome!!
Cody (shatfsbury, vt)
but the fact that their cats isn't the same could be why they're domincance isn't the same. Wayde doesn't nearly have what lebron does.
Dana Jacobson (10:48 AM)
but cody i still believe lebron would have the heat doing better than dwayne, make sense?
Kevin (NY,NY)
Why can I only access the chat through this stupid comment page that must be refreshed in order to stay current. The SN chat is much better but has Morning Buzz for the first hour each day!
Dana Jacobson (10:49 AM)
kevin, don't know. send a comment to sportsnation...maybe it'll change!
Alex(Mcallen, Texas)
Are people counting out the spurs because manu is out?
Dana Jacobson (10:49 AM)
out of the finals yes, but perhaps a first round win
Jaz E One Raleigh, NC
Glad to see the cowboy fans still on the couch (Owen,NYC). Dana how do you feel about my Steelers repeating. Quite as kept, their coming back fully loaded with another young runningback (mendenhall) to actually help out the goal in offense this year.
Dana Jacobson (10:51 AM)
jaz, repeating in the nfl? you know how hard that is. denver waht 10 years ago last to do it...i just don't see it. not with brady back, not with atlanta maybe adding tony gonzalez, not with baltimore even getting a more experienced joe flacco or the cardinals coming back possibly in tact.
Jaz E One Raleigh, NC
Can I get some love Dana, Lebron still has not provin' he can pull it out in the clutch. Lakers in six.
Dana Jacobson (10:51 AM)
Jaz, i keep saying, can't wait to watch that finals if that's what it is..
Damian (Oklahoma)
Want stars with LeBron? Look to NY in 2010. Theyve got the cap space for him and two others.
Dana Jacobson (10:52 AM)
damian, you just crushed the folks in cleveland. they're coming after you man.
Jason (Chicago Il)
No one is stopping Cutler and the Bears this year Jaz E
Dana Jacobson (10:52 AM)
except the fact that right now cutler has no one to throw to jason...he had some weapons in denver
stephen kc mo
Are we already talking about repeat? The draft hasn't even happened..
Dana Jacobson (10:53 AM)
stephen we talk repeat when they're passing the trophy
Josh (Central Mich)
Dana, what kind of a bounce-back can we expect from the Wolverines this year? Much improved or more of the same? They're getting the kinds of players they need for the system now, but there will be so much youth...
Jay Crawford (11:05 AM)
sorry guys...computer issues and airtime have kept me away....go cavs!!!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Jay I told you you should have came with me to the Rays game last night. Upton's catch was ill, not sick!
Dana Jacobson (11:06 AM)
josh, i go a couple wins more...dont start talking bowl games to me until i've seen forcier. He's the most promising of QBs from what i know in rich rod's system. patience is a virtue and wolverines need a lot right now
Jay Crawford (11:06 AM)
i watched the whole game adam....awesome catch! love swisher pitching...i laughed!
Greg (ATL, GA)
I heard a rumor of the Falcons talking of trading a 2nd round draft pick for Tony Gonzalez. Is it true? Think that would be a good move for the Falcons? He is 33 years old...
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
Nick Swisher strikes out Gabe Kapler? Now that's embarrassing. Hopefully when he gets his next hit his teammates will tell him "Welcome Back"....... Anyone? I'll show myself out.
Dana Jacobson (11:06 AM)
greg, that's what i referenced b/f. Michael lombardi talked about it last night.
The NHL (backburner)
O DANA! DANA!!! Talk about us! We're here too! and the playoffs are starting!!
matt (new britain,ct)
is skip starting to regret his world series pick of boston?
Jay Crawford (11:07 AM)
yes matt, he is! but he'd never admit it.
Dana Jacobson (11:07 AM)
oh my old friend...you're coming up this hour with barry melrose. eastern conference preview today, west tomorrow. i know it's never enough but some don't share the love i have for you
Jason(Cleveland)
I keep telling them Jay. The Cavs can't be beat.
Jay Crawford (11:07 AM)
i hope youre right jason
Mike (Ohio)
"stephen we talk repeat when they're passing the trophy" That means we can all blame ESPN!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Swisher upstaged the big win.
stephen kc mo
Jay do you think Cavs will be able to retain LEbron in 2010? or is he gone to NY?
Dana Jacobson (11:08 AM)
mike, espn, the rest of the media, the fans who start chanting it right away....
Jay Crawford (11:08 AM)
they beter or its back to 30 win seasons stephen
The NHL (backburner)
O dana you vixen you! I just can't quit you......
Dana Jacobson (11:08 AM)
and you make me laugh, you're golden!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Cleveland rocks cleveland rocks cleveland rocks cleveland rocks!
Greg (ATL, GA)
Big match ups tonight in Atlanta. Heat at Hawks in the #4 vs. #5 east playoff preview and ESPN's #1 and #2 ranked MLB teams (Marlins at Braves) play at the TED. Which would you rather watch?
Jay Crawford (11:08 AM)
you got it adam!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Swisher is now the Yankees left-handed relief specialist.
Dana Jacobson (11:09 AM)
baseball cause nba for those teams tonight meaningless
Jay Crawford (11:09 AM)
era blutarski! o.oo
Jason(Cleveland)
Oh Dana did you see that extremely highly touted recruiting class coming into Columbus.I can't see a win anywhere in Michigans future, or in the past for that matter. It's been so long.
Jay Crawford (11:09 AM)
jason...be careful my friend, the tide has to switch at some point...remember john cooper
Luke (Auburn NY)
Swisher should be the Yankees new set up guy...how embarrassed is Gabe Kapler today
Matt (Cleveland)
Hey Jay, thanks for being a fellow Cleveland fan....we need some sort of championship in this city
Jay Crawford (11:10 AM)
the last one matt, the year before i was born....
Sean (wilmington oh)
Jay so like Im following pete carrol on twitter, as a buckeye fan thats kinda wrong...got any buckeye names you can throw me to follow along with pete
Jay Crawford (11:10 AM)
sure jaycrawford_espn
James Denver
You all are right Cavs cant be beat by anyone except LA at home they already beat them 2 times.
David (Oceanside, California)
I'm a Miami Dolphins fan, how do you think that they will do next year Dana?
Dana Jacobson (11:13 AM)
David, From what i know of scheduling...they've got an uphill battle schedule wise. I say this from my knowledge and from several smart writers I read. Also there's the let down effect off such a remarkable turnaround. But if they're not in the mix i'd be surprised. I expect the afc east to have a similar feel to last year with a tight battle
stephen kc mo
Chiefs shouldnt be quick to get rid of gonzo! hes still the best TE of the game and with Cassel there he will need an insurance blanket! Thats why him and wes worked so well together. The only way i see it happening is if Chiefs have their guy sittin at 55 then pioli pulls the trigger!
Dana Jacobson (11:14 AM)
stephen they don't necessarily want to but he doesn't want to rebuild at his age. if you can get something back i can understand it
cal kalamazoo mi
Lions should hold off on all thoese rookies and sign Mick Vick.... Dana being from the mit dont you wanna see some excitment downtown
Dana Jacobson (11:15 AM)
cal, i've said if they signed him i'd be ok with it.
stephen kc mo
Maybe Josh Freeman should take a page from Sanchez's book and not go to NY! He maybe sittin there till the top of the 2nd round now!!!
Dana Jacobson (11:16 AM)
stephen they're inviting more guys this year not just guys expected to go early so he'll have company if he is.
Kevin (NY,NY)
Dana, I'm going to Detroit for the first time next week for work. Any suggestions for my down time?
Dana Jacobson (11:19 AM)
kevin where are you going to be? in detroit hit greektown. don't forget about ole shillelagh there. it's a staple.
Jason(Cleveland)
Yes Kevin I have a suggestion. Lock yourself in your room and hope you don't get robbed. Detroit is an ugly place.
Dana Jacobson (11:20 AM)
jason, watch it. Not all pretty but there is something to offer. Casinos alone, greektown, comerica park is awesome! Burbs are beautiful
Mark (nj)
Lebron is the A-Rod of the NBA. He looks good during the regular season, but always shrinks when it counts the most.
Jay Crawford (11:29 AM)
hmmmm, did you forget his epic night against detroit?
Willie (Cleveland, OH)
Tell Jay (fellow BG grad) not to forget about the Cleveland Crunch. HAHAHAHA Leave it to cleveland to have their only championship being an indoor soccer one.
Jay Crawford (11:29 AM)
or our hockey team...that we lost!
Owen, NYC, New York
I might be alone on this one but i think we are going into the best post season the nba has seen since mike left chi town. tight races all the way thru and matchups are all over the place make it so difficult to predict and its seems like it all will lead up to the greatest head to head showdown in the finals since larry and magic maybe even better. The beginning of the new great rivalry Kobe Vs Lebron the two best players in the world hands down going at it for a possible seven games what more could you ask for. as a HUGE NBA fan im getting goosebumps just thinking about it i think the NBA is WAYYYYYYY more excitng then baseball now a days and i think that if espn put more emphasis on the little guys and rivalries live houston and utah clevland and boston and LA vs the World i personally think that the NBA is back !
James Denver
Does anyone outside mile high city think my Nuggets have chance to make noise get into at least 2nd round of playoffs?
Jay Crawford (11:30 AM)
i do!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Wouldn't it have been more appropriate for them to throw out the first urinal cake at last night's Citi Field grand opening?
Jay Crawford (11:30 AM)
funny johnny!
Greg (ATL, GA)
Glad to see Melrose on First Take. He makes Hockey interesting.
Jay Crawford (11:31 AM)
barry is the man!
Matt (B-More, MD)
Greg Paulus in the nfl??? he wasn't even a good enough athlete to start this season.
Jay Crawford (11:31 AM)
2004 gatorade hs fb player of the year!
Willie (Cleveland, OH)
I'm moving from Cleveland to Wilmington, NC on thursday and I will always love cleveland. Hopefully I will take that dark cloud over the sports here with me.
Jay Crawford (11:31 AM)
please willie....take it...
Josh (Central Mich)
Jay - Since we're talking Cleveland blunders, what if the Cavs lose to the Pistons in the 1st round?
Jay Crawford (11:33 AM)
dont go there josh...dont go there.
RJ Lee (Columbus)
I like the facxt that Lebron is facing reality. Cleveland is "The Center Of Sports Despair" and Lebron wants to change it. Face the past and surpass it.
Willie (Cleveland, OH)
Just my luck the Cleveland will finally get a championship, but I won't be here to see it. But I'm willing to take it for the sake of city.
Jason(Cleveland)
You should'nt let people like mark in NJ talk if they don't know what they are talking about. When does Lebron Shrink. He always show up on the big stage. You are just a Lebron Hater. Wait a minute are you really Skip Bayless.
Jay Crawford (11:35 AM)
lol
Jason(Cleveland)
I agree with Owen. This postseason is gonna be great.
Duane (Detroit,MI) [via mobile]
Do you think A I tanked the season?
Jay Crawford (11:35 AM)
yes
James Denver
Thanks Jay but why no love for Nuggets from show?
Jay Crawford (11:35 AM)
lakers are so dominant!
Matt (B-More, MD)
Please don't say Caps!!! Goaltending is suspect. I've said it all year. Theodore makes nice looking saves because he is out of position.
Dana Jacobson (11:38 AM)
MATT, barry picked em. don't know if you think that's good or bad
Tom (River North)
I won't be growing a mullet like Barry, but last year I grew a playoff beard and it ended up in a Stanley Cup for the Red Wings, so my friends are requesting I do it again.
Dana Jacobson (11:39 AM)
Tom, please do it again.
Joel(North Carolina)
Carolina Hurricanes, Stanley Cup Finals I beleive Carolina will be in the chase if not winning because of three reasons, Eric Staal, Erik Cole, Cam Ward, its game time, Jay do you agree?
Josh (West Virginia)
What are your thoughts on the Lions trading for Brady Quinn? They could get their franchise Left Tackle with the 1st pick & get Quinn with their other 1st round pick.
Dana Jacobson (11:41 AM)
Josh, not as sold on him as i was cutler but for obvious reasons, he just doesn't have as much nfl experience. Still from what i've seen, i like it. He's knocked most for one very bad game. I get that...but what are you giving up for him the 20? what else.. cause clevelands going to want something back
John (Indiana)
Lions won't trade for Quinn
JIM (CLEVELAND)
I THINK C-WELLS COULD BE HUGE IN THE NFL FOR THE BROWNS NO MATTR WHO IS QB
Dre(Memphis)
Jay hasn't stopped smiling since beanie came on the show.....looks like a heavy man crush
Andrew (Peoria, Illinois)
Wish I could be watching you guys right now, stuck in class unfortunately, but it looks like the Bulls might be able to make a playoff run now that they can avoid the Cavs first round. Salmons has turned them into a completely different team on offense, but as long as the Cavs have home court there is no stopping them in the East.
Dana Jacobson (11:42 AM)
andrew they seem to be the hottest team at the bottom of the east
TYLER (RAMSEY)
YOU KNOW CLEVELAND WILL NEVER WINNING WHEN THEY MAKE A MOVIE MAKING FUN OF THEIR BASEBALL TEAM
Michael Jordan (best ever)
No dark clouds over Wilmington, man. That's where I'm from.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Hey this has been fun, as always. Have a great day everyone. I'm off to lunch with my boss. We are doing this again tomorrow, right?
John (Indiana)
Jay who do you think will win the World Series this year?
Jay Crawford (11:43 AM)
tampa bay
Jay Crawford (11:44 AM)
no doubt dre! great kid! great player! cant help but root for him.
Greg (ATL, GA)
Would Jay cry if Cleveland lost in the first round? Or is it to be expected in Cleveland?
Jay Crawford (11:44 AM)
yes...real tears
Umor (detroit mi)
Lebron ,Beenie, He's in heaven
Jay Crawford (11:45 AM)
cleveland sports heaven!
Willie (Cleveland, OH)
Lebron won't let that happen
Damian (Oklahoma)
Boston was unstoppable at home in '86 ....until MJ dropped 63 on them. Dwade's capable..
John (Indiana)
probably Evan Longoria is a beast
chris (nac,tx)
beanie dont run like a 4.3 on the field
Jay Crawford (11:46 AM)
his speed is deceptive!
Derek (MO)
Jay u almost became overwhelmed when u started to talk about benie wells and LBJ at the same time... too much ohio for u in one sitting
Jay Crawford (11:46 AM)
i know! derek, all i needed was grady sizemore...cleveland stars align

Jay Crawford (11:47 AM)
um, of course not dre....
Umor (detroit mi)
Cleveland wins the world seires or the browns win the super bowl. choose jay
Jay Crawford (11:57 AM)
both
Tom (River North)
Jay, can you ask Barry how it's possible the defending Stanley Cup champs have only one game on national tv scheduled right now? When is ESPN getting hockey back?
Dana Jacobson (12:01 PM)
tom, it's a business. sorry. wouldn't it be nice though if they were on espn.
Dana Jacobson (12:02 PM)
Thanks all for putting up with the sort of disjointed chat today. Tough to keep things flowing without a moderator. Live and learn. We'll be back with you tomorrow!
Matt (B-More, MD)
By the way. Long time hockey fan and player from Maryland. Big fan of Barry Melrose. His kings made me a fan of hockey because even though the caps had langway. The caps sucked!
Dana Jacobson (12:06 PM)
matt, barry's the best!!
Paul (Denver)
Why does everyone insist that Cutler has no one to throw to? I wouldn't call Olsen, Hester, and Forte no one. On the flip side, can we talk about how Cutler made Marshall and Royal, rather than the other way around?
Dana Jacobson (12:07 PM)
RECEIVERS...forte led the bears in receptions last year, last i checked he was a running back. it's like your qb leading in rushing yards, not something you want
Aaron (Chattanooga, TN)
What about the suprising Braves? Starting a series with the Marlins with NL east lead tied at 5-1. I know its early but do you think the bullpen will make it.
Dana Jacobson (12:08 PM)
how about the nl east - reigning champion phillies, their nemesis mets, marlins and braves looking good to start. i'm imprssed
Dana Jacobson (12:08 PM)
allright i'm really outta here, gotta do a post tape and tape some radio. talk to you tomorrow!!
