Chat with Josh Hamilton
After his terrific 2008 season -- an American League All-Star roster spot and breaking Bobby Abreu's record for most home runs hit in the first round of the Home Run Derby -- Hamilton is back at it again. To kick off the 2009 season, he has one home run and eight RBIs while hitting .357.
Hamilton also is the first guest on "Homecoming with Rick Reilly" -- a new signature ESPN program hosted by award-winning sportswriter Rick Reilly that challenges the old adage "You can't go home again." It airs at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday, April 22, on ESPN and re-airs on ESPN Classic on Friday, May 1, and Sunday, May 3.

We have Josh!
How strange was it to appear on Homecoming with Rick Reilly? Being back in your hometown in front of familiar faces like that?
Josh Hamilton (12:12 PM)
I actually live in North Carolina in the off-season but at the same time it was cool seeing people that I haven't seen since high school.
Justin Behling (Boyceville, WI)
Hey Josh, who is your favorite player of all time?
Josh Hamilton (12:13 PM)
Cal Ripken Jr. because of the way he handles himself on and off the field.
Tim M, Corsicana, TX
Josh, In your opinion, who are the toughest pitchers to face?
Josh Hamilton (12:14 PM)
The guy I hated facing the most was Greg Madox but he retired so I'm good now.
How do you see the AL West shaping up this year?
Josh Hamilton (12:15 PM)
That's a good question. I would like to say I see the Rangers at the top. It's going to be a battle between the A's, Angles and us.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
What is your favorite ballpark to play in outside of your home field?
Josh Hamilton (12:16 PM)
I like Fenway Park in Boston because the fans are great and it's just an all around great place to play.
Who is your favourite non-baseball athlete, why?
Josh Hamilton (12:17 PM)
I don't really have time to watch other sports.
Cris, Minneapolis [via mobile]
Is it really that easy hitting home runs in arlington compared to the Great American Ballpark and other "hitter's" parks?
Josh Hamilton (12:18 PM)
Heck no! The ballpark in Arlington didn't carry all the way around.
Kyle Bogden, Huron, Ohio
In the offseason, what kind of things did you work on? Because this year it seems you've become a better base-hitter, and your speed has improved. Good luck, and God Bless. -Kyle
Josh Hamilton (12:20 PM)
This offseason I worked on changing my stance at the plate because I felt it would help me be more consistent at the plate but I never got comfortable with it so I changed back.
Dan (Wethersfield, CT)
As a prepster you were quite the left-handed pitcher, could Josh Hamilton the hitter touch a Josh Hamilton heater?
Josh Hamilton (12:21 PM)
I bet if I practice for a couple of weeks, I think I can get back up there and pitch. I would be able to know my pitch out the park too.
Who is the "coolest" guy in baseball?(easy to talk to, down to earth, etc...)
Josh Hamilton (12:22 PM)
I have to go with Michael Young. He's a cool dude.
KC (Colorado Springs, CA)
Josh, which one of your new teammates has impressed you the most (Andruw, Kris Benson, Elvus)?
Josh Hamilton (12:22 PM)
What about Omar? (laughing)
Josh Hamilton (12:23 PM)
He's been in the business 20 years and I'm trying to learn whatever I can from him.
Casey (Detroit, MI)

Josh Hamilton (12:25 PM)
Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, or Hank Aaron
