hey gang.....1st Down topics to consider...Chauncey has nearly doubled Chris Paul's points output through two games...how impressed are you? D. Wade bounced back last night with 33 and the Heat evened their series with the Hawks...are the Hawks in trouble?
Jarad (Boston)
Last nights Heat/Hawks game was delayed in the first quarter because of Atlanta's real Hawk mascot was planted on top of the backboard and wouldn't leave. Imagine if every NBA did this.. I for one would love to see a Timberwolf or a Bobcat running around wildly all over the courts. Any Takers??
Brice Miller Fort Thomas, Kentucky
After last night, what more does Dwayne Wade have to prove that he is the most valuable player to his team and to the league!
Joey Shrake Springfield, Illinois
The Hawks are in trouble. If Miami controls the tempo like last night they will win this series in 6 games. Atlanta can't play half-court basketball, that alone spells disaster. Contrary to what Skip thinks, Jermaine Oneal is not a "shell of himself" as he proved last night. Oneal and Haslem are veterans and have been thru the trenches of the playoffs while the Hawks have only Bibby as a proven playoff experianced player.
scott , ohio
yea chauncey and wade were impressive but come on.Its all its all irrelevant because either team is going to beat the lakers or the cavs
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Here is a topic to consider: My beloved Pirates just swept the 11-1 Marlins!!
mark (Phoenx)
it should be D-wade for MVP. no Lebron. Yes leBron Has His Team playing great.but withour Wade miami aint nothing
Dana Jacobson (9:50 AM)
Good morning folks!!
Jim, Williamsburg, VA
Oh, Rich Rod! Offering a scholarship to Paulus was sad enough, but getting rejected by Paulus for Syracuse? Priceless.
Moderator (9:52 AM)
you guys think its a buzz kill, NFL teams signing the #1 pick before draft day?
Dana Jacobson (9:52 AM)
Oh Jim, Syracuse is his hometown...if you're going to give a longshot a try, why not do it at home. Clearly you're not a rich rod fan, but i'll gtuess he'll survive
Rob (MS)
Chauncey is the best big game PG in the league. Sorry Tony and Chris and everyone else, he's the one! Getting rid of Iverson moved the franchise ahead a couple and sent Detroit in a tailspin.
Umor (detroit)
Dang what happen to verlander. One good season and that's it.
Dana Jacobson (9:56 AM)
umor, he was fine till like midway through last year. i want to believe he'll shake his era of 9 off!!
James (New Orleans)
Billups has been doing great, but people are calling Paul a playoff bust. Have you people forgotten about last year's playoffs?
mark, phoenix
I say if you know who you already want in the draft 2 days early and you have the #1 pick...then sign him.
justin(ohio)
Chauncey Billups is making Chris Paul look like a rookie and showing him that he is one of the top point guards in the game...so im very impressed
Dana Jacobson (9:58 AM)
mark, get a rookie cap in the new collective bargaining agreement and you'd get some of the excitement back though. it is kind of a let down..remember the eli draft with the will they trade, won't they? or mario williams will he be one? not that long agao but even that was a little more fun
KD (Chicago)
Chauncey is playing at an MVP type caliber. He's made Butler & CP3's defense look like Skip guarding "me, myself, & Iverson".
Dana Jacobson (9:58 AM)
kd, can't wait to hear what skip has to say in first down
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
I HATE the pre-draft signing....almost as much as I hate the pre-opening day MLB game. At least the pre-draft signing isn't driven by suits concerned with television revenues.........I don't think.
Dana Jacobson (9:59 AM)
chris, no it's not. suits would rather have it be a surprise. the tv suits. the team suits want it signed sealed and delivered
Adam G. Tampa, FL
It's going to be the Nuggets and Cavs competing for the title. Who do the Lakers have that could guard B-B-B-Billups?
mark (phoenix)
chauncey is one of the best PG. detriot is hurting right now letting him go but i do think they will bounce back next year like they always happen to do.
Craig W. texas
Billups is having a great series but where is Carmelo the face of the Nuggets?
Mike St. Louis MO
I think Atlanta has a problem running the half court offense, this will be their achillies heel. Miami has to limit the Hawks fast break oppurtunities.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Everyone knows having a hawk flying indoors is only going to backfire. It's a bad omen when you do that and the one who can fly best is not on your team. It's no wonder Dwyane Wade proceeded to drop thirty-three on Atlanta.
Sean (wilmington OH)
The NBA is all about matchups..chauncey got it against CP3 but what about the next series, carmelo then could have the matchup good problem to have
Mick Fremont,Ohio
Chauncy is a beast and if mello can get his swagger back he and K-Mart can give L.A. all they can handle
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Carmelo has gotten lost like Darko in Lebron James' draft class.
Mike (Galveston, Tx)
the Hawks are no where near trouble...they have great chimestry, n great players. They are just a young playoff team...And you really cant do anything about wade...he is a beast
James Denver
Melo had 21 points and 9 assists watch the game.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
My superstitious grandmother form Hungary always said that a bird flying indoors meant an imminent death. For real.
shaka milwaukeee wi [via mobile]
wasn't i the guy who said billups was a mvp
Joel (North Carolina)
I agree that Billups is having a fantastic series, and will continue. Dana until someone puts a hand in his eye more than have the game hes gonna shoot. With Manu out for the San Antonio Series, I see no one defending him until Kobe gets a shot~!
Craig Watson texas
Guys please before we crown the nuggets its only been 2 games it's going 6
Dana Jacobson (10:17 AM)
joel, you and i were thinking the same thing..hope you just heard
Jay Crawford (10:17 AM)
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING CHATTERS!!!!
Jarad (Boston)
The NBA - "where one playoff series lasts 3 weeks happens."
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Melo should be the new Larry Bird Lebron the new Magic Johnson and Kobe's Jordan.
James Denver
All this Melo talk shows you guys dont follow Nuggets. Yes Melo is scoring less this year he still finished 8th in NBA in scoring He sacrificed scoring to play defense get rebounds distribute the ball more. He has really improved his overall game. He scored 22 points and had 9 assists last night watch the game.
Jace Minnesota
How angry would Stern be if the Nuggets knocked LA out of the LA-Cavaliers championship
Jay Crawford (10:18 AM)
very angry...!
tommy lee toledo ,oh [via mobile]
orlando is playing crappy to get rid of van gundy
Jay Crawford (10:18 AM)
wow! harsh
Nemo Seattle, WA
Kobe has too much around him for Denver to handle. KMart can't handle Gasol and unlike Chandler, Bynum will be almost or at full strength against Nene.
Mike (Galveston, Tx)
billups is showing up, but u can never count out the hornets and chris paul...but im sorry skip but your pick for the west half of the playoffs is not going to make it. Lakers vs. Cavz...nba finals
Dana Jacobson (10:20 AM)
Nemo, didn't you hear stern the other day saying how much he loves melo...how much he's grown?? he's got all the bases covered. although tv audience wise i'm sure he'd rather have LA there.
Rajesh (Atlanta)
I can't believe the amount people sway back and forth between NBA games in the playoffs. You win your first game and people call for a sweep-you lose the next and suddenly you have no chance of winning the series. I'm not saying this just because its my hometown team. The Hawks will beat Miami in this series. The Hawks have the ability to turn up the defensive pressure more than the Heat and thats what will eventually lead to Miami's downfall. The Hawks will reclaim the paint like in the first game and control the boards on both ends of the court. Hawks in six.
Dana Jacobson (10:21 AM)
Rajesh, i think some of it with the hawks is that homecourt has been very important to them this year - you hard bob rathbun talk about it.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Stern doesn't care if Denver gets to the championship against the Cavs we'll have the real Bird vs. Magic match-up. Carmelo and Lebron came out the same year, just like Magic and Bird did. Kobe is on another level he's MJ.
Nathan (Brookings, SD)
I have a question. Why does the NBA set up the first round of the playoffs so that they take almost a month it seems like? Two days in between home games is ridiculous. The NHL plays their games every other night and hockey is way more physcial than basketball. It just doesn't seem right
Patrick (Atlanta)
How pathetic is it that Michigan was thinking about bringing on a former Duke basketball player for QB? Just like a team from that state. Stupid moves!(minus the Red Wings)
Rob (Tallahassee, Fla.)
Kobe couldn't carry MJ's jock.............LOL
Jay Crawford (10:23 AM)
from a buckeye's perspective...it's odd. but hey, this kid was a top prospect 4 years ago.
Joshua S. N.P., NE)
I think the Lions should start stafford if they draft him. even if he wins one game its progress
Joel (North Carolina)
Obviously you want to sign the pick before the draft because their next pick is extremely hard for them, if they get rid of the hard pick at one they can focus on their next pick more extremely. Think they get the 20th pick and the 33rd they have to focus on other things!
Umor (detroit)
The lions better take a lineman with their second pick.
Matt Nipomo, California
Isn't Stern always angry? And his anger just fluctuates depending an what's going on?
Craig W. texas
if the hawks can keep there nucleus together they will be a problem.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
David Stern = best commissioner in pro sports. Maybe the best ever.
Jay Crawford (10:24 AM)
lets see what the room thinks about that jason...
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Kobe's the closest player the NBA has to MJ
Jay Crawford (10:25 AM)
agreed adam!
State of Michigan
Chauncey...we miss you...tear*
Jay Crawford (10:27 AM)
yeah, but you have the answer now!
James Denver
Someone buy Scoop a suit that fits. He always looks like little kid pkaying dress up wearing daddies suit.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Jay you like that Melo compared to Bird analogy?
Jay Crawford (10:28 AM)
when he wins 2 titles i'll like it alot more...
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
The entire State of Michigan has one computer? A show of hands from ANYBODY that's surprised by that?
Joel (North Carolina)
Look at all the receivers at about 20 wow Percy Harvin, could fall, Hakeem Nicks, right there, and Darius Hayward-Bay, Detroit could have a whole new offense! We know they dont pick defense until the 3rd round!
Jay Crawford (10:30 AM)
harvin will fall....book it...
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Resichea whats good beautiful
Jay Crawford (10:30 AM)
i'll tell her she has a fan in fla.
Dan, S.I., NY
Lebron=MJ?
Jay Crawford (10:30 AM)
not yet...
Laurie Austin, TX
I love the draft! I watch every pick, start to finish. I love all the banter between the commentators(especially Mel), the coach and player interviews, all of it! Like Skip said, one of the best sports weekends all year! Go Draft!
Jay Crawford (10:31 AM)
chat room: how much of the draft will you watch this weekend???
Neil
David Stern or Godell i like em both for their no nonsense approch
Jason(Cleveland)
David Stern definately does the best job of marketing his stars. The NBA is a stars league. It has so many young brilliant basketball players. The future of the league looks great right now.
Shawn, IN
I hate to agree with Skip but he's right the draft doesn't start until pick 2. Every year you can usually pick who's going number 1.
Jarad (Boston)
Larry Bird was ten times the professional Melo is.
Jace Minnesota
Love that you have Klitschko on to talk about that shirt
Jay Crawford (10:32 AM)
jace, we taped that interview at 9:30...here's what i'll say...CLASSIC!! FIGHT FANS MUST WATCH!!!!
Zach (Maine)
Jay when are you going to debate with Skip so he isn't talking to someone who doesn't know talking about?
Jay Crawford (10:33 AM)
there you go zach. he and i debate everyday off air! trust me, it gets heated
Adam G. Tampa, FL
I will watch the first 10 picks and where Sanchez goes and thats it.
John, Austin
Jay, who is your favorite current NFL player?
Jay Crawford (10:34 AM)
john, not sure i have one. when the browns left clevealnd my love for the league waned. i'm still a huge fan, but it will never be the same. all of that being said, i am a huge adrian peterson fan.
Tom Bristol CT
Jay The whole first round and flipping between the nba and the second round is the best thing to do. The question is how many bags of chips is the Schwab going to need to watch all of it!!!
Jay Crawford (10:34 AM)
hmmmm tom...watch and win! howie loves this weekend...
Steve (Medford, NY)
It's funny that skip can't agree with any guest except Lil' Wayne
Moderator (10:35 AM)
2nd down topics: what do you make of the Twins Red Sox game 1 of a doubleheader getting called off early due to rain, then Game 2 starting less than an hour later?
Jay Crawford (10:35 AM)
lil wayne picked the afc and nfc matchups before the playoffs started. also he said his favorite team the hornets wouldnt make the 2nd round...the guys is really smart when it comes to sports....and music too!
Craig Watson texas
jay since skip loves to give nicknames here's one for him skip sayless.
Jay Crawford (10:36 AM)
wow! i havent heard that one yet...
Moderator (10:36 AM)
also coming up in 2nd down...reaction to the high school junior dropping out to play pro basketball in Europe until he's eligible for the NBA Draft
Jonathan Houston, TX
the first pick in the majority of drafts is normally forgone conclusion so to sign the person ahead of time shouldn't be that big of deal. the draft gets interesting later on when picks become less obvious. I'm a football fanatic but I used to sleep through the first 3 to 5 picks cause they were fairly easy to know who would go where
mark (phoenix)
i want to ask skip why his precious hornts are getting slatterd by the nuggets. are you still cofent about your hornets still?
Jarad (Boston)
Please the score was 10-1 the Twins probly agreed to it.
Moderator (10:37 AM)
so does that mean teams can start calling "MERCY!" in the 7th inning of games so they don't blow out their bullpens?
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Football is the greatest sport ever. But I rarely ever watch the draft. I checkt the sports ticker to see who the JETS picked up, then I promptly change to the current Yankees game.
Marques (sarasota)
The reason the Lions were 0-16 wasn't because of the offense. They were leading in 5 or 6 games and they're defense couldn't stop anyone. They need to draft defense. They need Aaron Curry number 1
Dana Jacobson (10:38 AM)
marques - it was a problem across the board.
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
The Twins/Sox suspension then game 2 felt alot like a disorganized park and rec department trying like heck to cover up a schedule goof to get all their adult softball games in.
Steve Louisville Ky
I hate the draft. Its the most overblown and waste of air time during the year. Read the next days paper to see the picks. All these "experts" picks go out the window with the first trade. I'd rather watch the Lions play the Raiders.
Chase, Michigan
I'm very impressed with the way chauncey is playing, i just wish he was still doing it for Detroit, i hope that the Nuggets make it to the finals and chauncey wins it all then detroit would realize how dumb of a trade it was to bring in an aging A.I. and let go of chauncey.
John, Austin
David Stern has got to be secretly rooting against the high school junior moving to Europe. Can you imagine the impact if this works out for the kid?
Dana Jacobson (10:39 AM)
Chase not that it makes it any easier...ive said what you've said but the trade was for the future...essentially giving up on this year
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
That HS Junior's parents should be ashamed of theirselves for allowing him to dropout. (unless he's 18 by chance)
Mark (melbourne fl)
I dont think the NBA should allow him to do this. He should Have to have some kind of Diploma.
Stew NYC
That kid going to Europe as a high school junior is insane, at least he will get paid to learn the game instead of having colleges make money off him
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
I bet that after this fiasco, Com. Stern will introduce a rule to be voted on saying that a player must have at least a G.E.D.
Reece Austin, TX
The NBA needs an exception for the Lebrons and Durrants of the world, if a guys good enough to go top 5... let him
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Why did MLB have to choose between playing game 2 of Twins-Red Sox today or cutting game 1 short and then start game 2? Why couldn't they play nine to finish game 1, wait 30 minutes, and then start game 2?
Zach (Maine)
the thing is now a tons of HS kids will being doings this to get out of collage
Jarad (Boston)
Calling a game when it's 10-1 in the seventh is better than calling an all-star game a tie........
Monty (DC)
The Lions are doing everyone a favor by getting the draft just a little shorter. Besides Skip nobody wants to watch the long draft. Even Joe Thomas from couple years ago skipped the draft because it is as exciting to watch as paint drying.
Mostafa (Springfield, VA)
I think it's great that players are skipping college ball because the college system makes millions off of the players and gives nothing back (scholarships are barely anything). I also like the exposure to the European ball system (it's been effective in the Olympics). It's a great way for the player to improve his skills, make some money and prepare for the NBA. Imagine a NBA Draft prospect who has the "1 on 1" ability to drive to the hoop but can also play the European team game!
Dana Jacobson (10:44 AM)
mostafa, college but what about leaving high school early?
Rajesh (Atlanta)
Should Tanner Hall have to have a diploma to be a pro skier? He doesn't and besides Jeremy Tyler is finishing high school he is just getting home schooled his senior year while playing basketball.
Rob (Tallahassee, Fla.)
and exactly what does having a G.E.D. prove.... I know kids that have flunked out of school in their freshman year that have obtained GEDs
Rob (State College, PA)
I'm going to bet that we don't hear from this kid going to Europe for a little while. It's a horrible idea, and the parents who allow him to do this are highly irresponsible and have no clue how to raise a child. There is no way he's mature enough to play in Europe.
Dana Jacobson (10:46 AM)
Rob, A GED shows you have enough respect for education I guess to get one. My problem with all of this is that we're saying just b/c you're an athlete you don't need the education. Tanner Hall should have a high school degree, yes. I don't care if you're home schooled. Education is so overlooked. If you make millions don't you want to understand what's going on with your money. I know an education doesn't guarantee you will..Im educated and awful with money but why not value education???
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Jeremy Bonderman got his GED so he could drafted by MLB after his junior year. No problem with what the high schooler is doing other than the risk of not making it in Europe or the NBA.
Dana Jacobson (10:47 AM)
Calvin, getting a GED i'm good with. You don't just walk in and get one. I have a friend who was sick in hs, dropped out and got one, and she had to do a little studying.
Eric, Cleveland
I know Joe Dumars was trying to clear cap room for next years free agency frenzy, but the move to trade Billups for Iverson was his worst ever. He sacrificed this years team!
Reece Austin, TX
Tony Parker was a pro in europe since he was like 16
Rob (State College, PA)
If some people don't know, Europe is a team game. Brandon Jennings hasn't been successful there. He's averaging around 8 ppg and 2 apg. You have to be a smart, mature player; 2 things I bet this kid isn't.
Jay Crawford (10:51 AM)
alright room, are you guys good with skip and scoop agreeing with the decision in boston???
James Denver
Yes on your set a couple weeks ago Lil Wayne said Hornets wouldnt get to round 2 but that was before matchups were set. He was in Denver for game and in interview on Altitude the Denver Nuggets channel he predicted Hornets in 6.
Lew *Chicago*
Dana, Give my man Scoop some dap for me. He represents The "Go" respectfully and with pride!
Jace Minnesota
Education is important, but if we are honest this guy's future is as an athlete. Reading Of Mice and Men isn't going to help him and HS does a poor job of teaching kids how to manage finances anyways
Rob (Tallahassee, Fla.)
Dana - in regards to a GED, I think to get a clear picture of how easy they are to obtain one needs to take the test.. it's disgustingly easy.... I'm not arguing against education, I have a college degree too... I just think people are making too much of a deal about graduating early and/or obtaining a degree (or GED)..... part of the educational process is about growing up and maturing, and I don't know if our schools are doing that good of a job of that anymore.
Rajesh (Atlanta)
Handling money is a much deeper issue than what you learn in college
Jay Crawford (10:52 AM)
great point!
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
The 7 inning game played was absolutely insane. After watching the Yankees win in dramatic fashion I saw that the game prematurely ended and assumed game two was scrapped due to the Monsoon going through Boston. It's ridiculous regardless of the score. This is major league baseball. The Yankees put out Nick Swisher to try and save a battered bullpen. How was this allowed? Where was Bud Selig?!
Nathan (Brookings, SD)
Is Skip going to watch more of the NFL Draft this weekend or NBA playoffs? My guess is he'll flip back and forth.
Jay Crawford (10:53 AM)
i'll ask...i say both....
Sean (oak hill wv)
Pat white discussion needs to happen hes a rare talent...where yall think he will land
Skips Conscience
I think the high school kid can't handle high school homework and he should be banned from the European league
John, Austin
Ricky Rubio has been on the NBA's radar for years. Going to Europe to play, hoping to go pro is no different than shopping for the best AAU team or prep school over here.
Rob (State College, PA)
Reece, in Europe they are done with their "high school" by the time they are 16.
Bob, Maine
It is totally unfair, for the teams in the AL Central and AL East, why should Boston and Minnesota pitchers get to pick less, than those teams in AL east and AL west. How come the redsox and the twins play today?
John, Austin
Jeremy Tyler is no different than any tennis player, golfer, actor/actress, etc that has the talent.
Mostafa (Springfield, VA)
Absolutely agree with Skip (on this only!) that this is a free country and the kid should be able to play pro ball.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Let me give the obligatory caveat: I usually don't agree with skip, but... He's 100% right on the disclosure that the first pick is pre-signed. So you lose 10 minutes of suspense. Who cares?
Jeremy Collins (Colorado springs)
A couple of years ago i would have been Suprised by a High school Student dropping out to play anywhere, But now I'm not. Sports stopped being about fun and "sport" and is now a business,so in my book the kid is making a business decision, more power to him. Money will always ruin logic, and hey money is the most important thing right? If its not please tell me why most americans cant take a family of five to a sporting event without taking out a second mortgage on the house
Rob (Tallahassee, Fla.)
Good point Jeremy -- but that has more to do with the bigger picture of how our economic system has so terribly failed us....
John, Austin
European leagues have tons of under 20 players in them, one is about to play in the NBA, Ricky Rubio. Believe me, NBA exec's know all about good young kids in Europe. Jeremy Tyler could get some very good coaching in Europe as opposed to a prep or AAU coach over here.
Dana Jacobson (10:57 AM)
john, and what happens folks when he spends the 2 million he earns there and then blows out his knee or doesn't make it?
James Denver
Sterns stupid age limit policy is alreadf hurting the NBA and he wants to make it 2 years. Were going to start to loose best talent overseas. Basketball is to much of global sport and theres money out there in global economy. Stern better be carefull this is mark on game he doesnt want to leave top US talent going overseas. If AI gets no legit offers in NBA and goes to Europe watch out at avalanche it could create.
Moderator (11:02 AM)
3rd down topics coming up... 1-Erick Dampier is backing off his Tony Parker comments...smart or dumb? 2- How much trouble are the Celts in tonight in Game 3 vs. Bulls? 3-Now that Derrick Rose has been names Rookie of the Year...who's going to be the better player long-term: Michael Beasley or Rose??
Steve (Austin, TX)
I lost a lot of respect for Skip when he used that worn out argument "don't we live in a free country?" Picking money over finishing an education. Complaining the NBA has rules. Yes, we have freedom in this country, but we also have rules.
Sean (oak hill wv)
great peeps in history were dropouts his family seems to b behind his decision enough said
richie, boston MA
scoop, that is a weak reason....shady school????? at least HS education...what if he has a career ending injury??? what does he have to fall back on???
Tom (Bristol, CT)
Oh skip how can you say some kids don't have a use for school where would you be with out school!!!
Rob (Tallahassee, Fla.)
Dana - I understand there are unique situations like your friends in which a GED serves people well, but they should be free and far between. My own son dropped out of school after his freshman year, and we gave our approval to him joining the military because we thought there no way he'd be able to pass his GED -- and what we ended up with a very immature son passing his GED (even him, being the poor student he had been since junior high) and joining the military and dying in Iraq. Just makes me wonder what should/could have been.....
Dana Jacobson (11:04 AM)
Rob, I'm very sorry for your loss. As someone who's brother served in Iraq I can't imagine what you've gone through.
Patrick (Atlanta)
Dana. Are you assuming all athletes are irresponsible with their money? You can always continue your education. No matter how old you are. What happens if he turns down the opportunity to make millions, and that chance never presents itself again? With the economy as poor as it is, why wouldn't someone jump at this chance? I have a steller education, and cannot get a job.
Dana Jacobson (11:05 AM)
patrick, not at all. im saying why not have education to back you up. and the guys that study later are few and far between. You're talking about waiting a year, i am going to say the money will still be there in europe
Jason(Cleveland)
Just a big thank you to all troops who serve in the war.
Dana Jacobson (11:05 AM)
jason agreed
Peter (Miami, Fl)
Even if the Celtics win this series, they will lose in the second round. Garnett gives them a perimeter shooter, defense, and energy
Jake (Syracuse)
Derrick Rose will have the better career. The Bulls will build around him, while the Heat build around D-Wade, not around Beasley.
Jace Mn
Richie0 If he has a career ending injury at least he made a couple hundred grand before it happened, which he can use to live on while he goes back for a GED and to pay for College
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Dana, if this kid spends the two million, then it will prove he should of continued with his education. But, put it this way. If he got a job earning $100,000 dollars a year, it would take him twenty years to amass 2 million dollars! That is lifetime money! Most people will only earn about that much in their entire lives!
David, Atlanta
You guys sure place a lot of stake in a HS education. I'm sure he'll make millions in his first year of working with HS diploma. What a joke argument saying it's something to fall back on if he flops.
Kevin, Cleveland
Losing the best talent overseas for 2 years may not be a bad thing, most young guys are not ready to play at the nba level, so if they go overseas and get used to a faster, more physical style of play, they will be better suited for the league
Nemo Seattle, WA
Dana, I agree. What education provides is at least a backup plan if you don't pan out in sports.
Matt (Laramie, WY)
The age limit David Stern did for the NBA was one of the best things that ever happened to the league. Kids straight out of high school (17 or 18) are not physically or mentally ready to play against the best in the world. I think two years is a great idea and I hope Stern does impose it.
Paul (Denver)
To add to Rob and Jeremy's points- there should be a required credit management classes in high school to teach kids about balancing credit, your budget, and finances. I had to learn the hard way!
Dana Jacobson (11:11 AM)
paul, sadly so have many of us!!!
Patrick (Atlanta)
The Celtics are in BIG trouble. I admit I am a Bulls fan, but Boston needed a triple double by Rondo, and Big Baby scoring big timeRay Allen hitting a ton of 3's,(including a last second shot) to win at home! Now they go to Chicago? good luck!
Micah (Baton rouge, LA)
Dana said what does that say about our society, if you can make enough money don?t worry about education? The primary purpose of getting an education in America is to set yourself up to get a good job in order to make money! So if you can make money without a formal education that should be your right to forego it if you choose to.
Dana Jacobson (11:14 AM)
Micah, I guess i've never seen it that way. Our educations besides giving us basic skills I think also can give us character and experiences that money can't buy. Education teaches imagination, creativity, perserverance even. I know there are 2 different schools of thought here so I'll try to leave this alone. But my internships were more influential in where I am now as a career person.
Bernie, San Diego
Dana, but not many of us have had the opportunity to earn a couple million dollars as a high schooler either. I am guessing none of us.
Dana Jacobson (11:14 AM)
Bernie you are right.
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Rob (Tallahasse, Fl), my condolences. I just read your post. Allow me to reiterate, God bless all the troops.
Kevin Cleveland
what happens to that kid if he blows his knee up two games into the season, what is he gonna do then?
Jay Crawford (11:18 AM)
always a risk
Sean (TR NJ)
Dana oh no what happened to the Caps? I thought for sure they would win game four but then Henrik happened did you see him last night? Like a man on a mission he was awsome.
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Celtic's...smeltics! Parker...barker! The Yankees and Red Sox start the first series tomorrow!
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Dana, Paulus going to Syracuse. What happened to Michigan?
Matt(New Britain,CT)
skip getting a little something from mrs.longoria?
Lew *Chicago*
PLEASE Skippy!!! You wish!!!!
Jay Crawford (11:19 AM)
oh does he wish!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Erica Dampier is going to get hit hard by Timmy Duncan tonight.
Jay Crawford (11:19 AM)
does timmy ever hit anyone hard?
richie, boston MA
as a parent, i can't imagine encouraging my child to drop out of HS. it sends the wrong message... make the committment to finish...then chase the money..
Kevin, Cleveland
Boston needs to wake up, maybe KG playing with a bum knee is better then them having to count on 20 points from Big baby and counting on a triple double from rondo, especially in Chicago
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Peter Jennings was a high school dropout. He did ok in his life.
Jay Crawford (11:21 AM)
oh please calvin dont do that. for ever peter jennings, there a million who never realized their dreams. go to school when you can. for as long as you can.
John, Austin
Skip didn't have a shot before Tony Parker and won't have a shot after Tony Parker. He has a better shot with EvaN Longoria than he does with EVA.
Dana Jacobson (11:21 AM)
i was in nba mode, just saw highlights sean the rangers fans around here have been loud today
Jay Crawford (11:21 AM)
oooooooo john! ouch!
Rob (Olmsted Falls , Ohio)
Boston will win tonite, no prob ! the pressure is on Chicago I dont think anyone is giving the Celts a chance at anything....They are still holding out hope that Garnett will be there for the Cavs. Doesn't Matter, with or without , they will still get rolled by the Cavs Domination Machine !
Bernie, San Diego
Has anyone ever got hit by Duncan? Yet alone a guy named Timmy? Wow!
Jay Crawford (11:22 AM)
good one bernie!
Brandon Knous (Decatur, IN)
the Celtics will be in panic mode when they lose both games in Chicago
Chizzie Thornton, Co
Jay did you notice CP3 looked like he wanted to cry last night?
Jay Crawford (11:23 AM)
chiz, i did notice some stress in that baby face. its been a rough series for chris, but dont count him out just yet
Bernie, San Diego
Jay, you are telling me that you would turn down the 2 Mill? Keep it real...
Joel (North Carolina)
Minutes might having something to do with Rose being better than Beasley, yes he gets 37 mins a game and beasley averages 24, but Beasley only outs Rose in 1 category largely and thats 3s and that obviously why, Dwayne Wade i would rather pass than shout same as him!
Nemo Seattle, WA
Wow, hometown Chicago boy Scoop Jackson is rolling with the Celtics. Where amazing happens
Mr. Camonte (Lynn, Mass)
That Ben Gordon and Ray Ray shoot out in Game 2 was CLASSIC! Made me get more into the playoffs this year...
richie, boston MA
R MOM...you got it... being a yankee fan in beantown...it's had it's ups and downs...but never looses its flavor..
Jay Crawford (11:24 AM)
bernie, no im not. im telling the millions of others who DONT have that option to stay in school and dont focus on those that have dropped out and made it. it would be tempting, but look at the long list of kids that have gone before you and tried to go right to the league, that failed...
Will (WV)
If anyone ever goes down after contact with Duncan..it is called Flopping!
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
College basketball talent level is going to drop even further now.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Men lie, women lie, numbers don't!
Matt(New Britain,CT)
nah, skip doesn't have a shot with either eva or evan
Nemo Seattle, WA
Rose, because he plays the most important position on the team which is PG
Kevin, Cleveland
Rob, i completely agree, but i tend to curve my enthusiasm, after all we do still live in cleveland
Jay Crawford (11:25 AM)
and never forget that rob...we have been jinxed forever!
Michael (Kentucky)
Why is Dampier backing down from his promise to knock Tony Parker on his rear?? Just cause he may get a fine?? I loved what he said, and I hope he follows through with that promise
David, Atlanta
Dana, I dropped out of Georgia Tech after my 1st year and went to apprentice in a small company which gave me a great foundation to grow. I don't have a problem with people leaving school as long as they are doing something productive. If they are sitting at home smoking dope and playing Xbox they need to take their butts back to school!
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Another purpose for education is enlightenment, enrichment, and to have a skill set if athletics don't work out. Then you wont end up like Maurice Clarette
John, Austin
Dana, going into your senior year of high school, did you know you wanted to be a sports broadcaster? If the answer is yes, what would you do if you were given an internship possibility that required you to move to Europe for your senior year of high school?
Steven Columbus, OH
The Celtics are definately in trouble, especially now that Leon Poe is out too. Boston's championship last year was attributed to their physicality. Now they find themselves without Garnett, Poe, and Posey from last year.
Bernie, San Diego
Very good point Jay. It must be that degree from "The Ohio State"! Btw, people are slippin on Chris Wells.
Moderator (11:30 AM)
how do you guys think Steph Curry will do in the NBA, if he goes?
Jay Crawford (11:30 AM)
wells will be a beast! book it
Sean (TR NJ)
I dislike the Rangers and usually their fans by proxy, but i will give them this, they deserve to feel proud and excited about last nights win probably earned them a second round matchup. (Collectively they should sing the praises of Lundquist)
Jay Crawford (11:30 AM)
lundy has been unreal! im glad to see the rangers relelvant again!
Jeff Panz Tampa ,FL
waddup Jay
Jay Crawford (11:30 AM)
panz what up!
Jay Crawford (11:31 AM)
adam from tampa in the chat played ball with you back in the day.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Stephen Curry will be like a Jason Terry in the NBA.
Chizzie Thornton, Co
Jay or Dana any chance of First Take coming to the Mile High city to broadcast after the Nuggets win the NBA title?
Jay Crawford (11:31 AM)
chizzie, we'd love to!
Kevin, Cleveland,
Clarett never graduated from "The Ohio State University" if you have paid attention, he left for the pro draft, or tried too, after his freshman season
Dana Jacobson (11:31 AM)
John, I wanted to be an actress and my parents NEVER would have let me drop out if I wanted to, never would have thought of it to be honest. But I came from a family where money wasn't an issue and education was stressed. It wasn't will you go to college, you were going to college - even if I wanted to be an actress back then. I haven't walked in this kids shoes, it is a free country, I just believe that kids should get a high school education if they can. for those who talked about it not mattering in the job you get. Try to get one without it's probably tougher. Seems like employers expect hs education and some even college. AGAIN I think we can go round and round and round. I think kids should get a hs education. I think education is more important than we give it credit for. You say whats the point? I interview these kids who can't hold a conversation and yes that's part of their job. You have no use for hs...take a speech class, acting, those will help you when you have to step to the mic and help your career when it comes to endorsements, etc. there are things you can take and do.
Jay Crawford (11:31 AM)
a shining example of why you STAY in school
Matt(New Britain,CT)
the jets are a perfect fit for mark sanchez
Rob ( olmsted falls , Ohio )
Yes, we have been jinxed , but for the 1st time...We have the John Elway and Michael Jordan on OUR Team !
Brian, Chicago
Hey Jay, you short or is Dana just tall?
Jay Crawford (11:32 AM)
nope. im 6 ft..dana is rather tall but not sage steele tall.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Steph will flop in the NBA like all the 6'3" and shorter pure shooters before him (Sean Respert ,etc)
Will, WV
Jay, as a buckeye hater.....I am looking forward to seeing Wells do great in the NFL!
Jay Crawford (11:33 AM)
cool will! we'll take the love
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Hope the Jets get Sanchez
Jeron (Florida)
Harvin and Nicks will be viewed the same. I love how peopleflip out over marijuana, Its not like all the NFL owners have never smoked...
David, Atlanta
Jay, If you were the Lions wouldn't you take Curry for a discounted price or grab an OT??? There will be other QBs in the draft later and/or next year. They have a decent option in camp already and without protection Stafford may just end up being the next Alex Smith.
Dana Jacobson (11:34 AM)
Jeron did you hear what our guest earlier said that he was asked in his interviews how much he smokes a week?
Jason(Cleveland)
Dana me and my wife will be traveling to Detroit this weekend to watch our Cavaliers dispose of the Pistons. Anything we must see, anywhere we must eat? Any Reccomendations?
Jay Crawford (11:35 AM)
i would take smith. i'm shocked there's even a debate frankly. alex smith, akili smith, ryan leaf, on and on...outside of kenyatta walker, how often do teams miss with cant miss ot's??? qb is much harder to project. i'd never take a qb number one, well unless its peyton manning obvious.
willie R I
I think Curry is the safeest pick in the draft
Dana Jacobson (11:35 AM)
Jason where are you staying? Near the palace have someone direct you to royal oak or birmingham...great restaurants. in royal oak there's a mexican place i used to always go to monterreys i think. if you're heading downtown go to greektown...hit the casinos of course, but the greek food - awesome!!!!! A detroit staple, a chili dog or chili cheese fries - at a coney island (that's the restaurant) or even buddy's pizza!!
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Sage Steele is dreamy :-)
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
I think Beanie Wells is dropping only because of his name.
Sean Greensboro, NC
How old do you think these college kids really are? Greg Oden looks like Robert Parish's twin, and stephen curry looks like he could get carded for a shirley temple.
Jay Crawford (11:36 AM)
lol...
Dana Jacobson (11:36 AM)
nice sean!
Ricky, Peoria, IL.
Hey Jay, how tall is Sage?
Jeron (Florida)
Dana, no I did not. (Physical Therepy, stupid ACL) At least I fit in with my teams, pats & celts
Jay Crawford (11:36 AM)
about 6 ft, 6 3 with heels
David, Atlanta
Jay - I agree. I guess being a Bears fan I'm OK with it though. I mean it's like 1 less team I have to worry about in my division :)
justin wichita falls texas
percy harvin knew he would be drug tested at the nfl combine.. so its either stupidity or a problem with marijuanna
Jay Crawford (11:37 AM)
i wouldnt draft him just on the stupidity of it all.
Jace MN
Wow Jay, great interview with Klitschko
Dana Jacobson (11:37 AM)
Jeron, sorry bout that...hope you're doing ok! It was funny. larry english (de/lb) he said he was asked and of course said i don't...i was like how many kids do you think answer that with a number. he laughed said dont know.
Jay Crawford (11:37 AM)
thanks jace. we taped it at 930...i told you guys it was worth waiting around for.
Tom Bristol CT
Jay, I hope none of the people in this room get a pizza face, well if Skip talked maybe!
Will (WV)
Boy...Klitschko is PISSED!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Wow Sage Steele is a beast
Nemo Seattle, WA
Klitschko is going to murder that guy. He's dead serious on inflicting pain and damage on Haye. Haye did go overboard with his shirt that had both Klitschko brothers decapitated. Bad move, mate.
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Klitschko is going to kill this guy!!! Somebody call in the undertaker...but, who cares?! Pacquiao - Hatton in two weeks!
Peter (Miami, Fl)
Dana, How many games do you think the Lions will win if they draft Matthew Stafford?
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Safest pick Jason Smith from Baylor. Trade away your picks these young guys dont compare to the stars in the game right now
Dana Jacobson (11:40 AM)
Peter, not a clue. It's going to take more than stafford. AND as nick cotsonika from the det news was saying earlier - if culpepper's playing how he did this past weekend, no need to start stafford maybe that makes people mad...i think its ok to give a qb time. didn't they used to do that in the nfl??
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Stephen Curry just announced he will forgo his senior season and enter the NBA draft.
Laihas (Illinois)
I hope he knocks Klitschko out!!! Bring the belts back home!!!
Bernie, San Diego
I would not want to be David Haye right now!!!
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Dana, you think missing out on Paulus is even worse for Rich Rod than never trying? Seems like a risk to alienate your young QB's and now he looks weak because he didn't get his prize. Kinda like the Redskins and the Campbell now Sanchez quest. BTW, I went to Michigan and love the Skins.
David, Atlanta
Will I agree... I'm not sure it's smart to piss that guy off before you step into the ring with him. I wouldn't want a "Pizza Face" from Klitschko!!
Ricky, Peoria, IL
I would be pissed too if someone made a t-shirt like that. I would want to try to kill the guy in the ring for that..
Matt (Mandan, ND)
What is your take on what is going on here with the University of North Dakota? They have the two tribes, which are the deciding factors on whether the school keeps the name and logo, fighting amongst each other. Divide and Conquer tactic going on here if you ask me!!
Peter (Miami, Florida)
Just want to say thanks to Jay, Dana, and Skip. You guys are the Big Three of first take
Josh (VA)
The smart thing for the Lions to do is to get protection. The QB class next year will be very deep. Don't waste your pick and overpay for a QB who will get NO protection to throw and end up a no win situation.
Dana Jacobson (11:42 AM)
Ray, I don't. From what I understand about rich rod from people close to the program he LOVES competition. LOVES it. Makes it known its what he wants, feels that it makes strong players better b/c they are pushed. The freshman coming in knew they'd have to compete already...despite early reports paulus was neither offered a scholarship or guaranteed the job, just a chance to compete. there was a big hurdle for a scholarship needing a waiver. anyway i think michigan is no worse off
Jay Crawford (11:42 AM)
stunning...the lions havent received this much attention since barry sanders retired...i'll be glad when the draft ois over just so we can quit talking about the 0-16 lions!
Brian, Chicago
You guys are always competitive...any chance you guys punch it out in the ring?
Dana Jacobson (11:42 AM)
brian, who ? jay and I?
John, Austin
someone tell Laihas that Haye is from England.
David, Atlanta
My biggest thing is what MIke and Mike talked about this morning. Stafford is going to be making Peyton Manning money year one. What a joke that is and it needs to be fixed by next season.
Dana Jacobson (11:43 AM)
David - I totally agree. Get a rookie cap it's the only way to go. But the owners are going to have to guarantee money that way. You'll get the excitement of who's the top pick back too
Bernie, San Diego
The Lions should start the season with an automatic loss if they pick Stafford. If you pick a guy whos name is shared with a dress shirt, you're in trouble. The Lions could possibly be the first team to go 0-17 with 16 games played.
Dana Jacobson (11:43 AM)
Bernie your reasoning made me laugh...that's why you got posted
Brian, Chicago
Dana, yes.
Dana Jacobson (11:44 AM)
Brian, not likely to happen. sorry to disappoint you. Im competitive not dumb!!! jay would kick my butt
Kevin, CLevleand
Dana, i say you and jay put on the blow up sumo suits and go at it on the air and the winner gets skip
Dana Jacobson (11:45 AM)
Kevin jay and i faced real sumo wrestlers when the show was still cold pizza and we did a week in vegas. it was fun!! i walked my guy out of the ring - trying to sweet talk him and jay of course went at his
Jeron (florida)
dana you have a height advantage!
Dana Jacobson (11:45 AM)
Jeron, not without heels!
Matt (Laramie, WY)
The NFL needs a rooki salary cap badly, I am thinking somethingkind of small like 1.5 million year for the first three years.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Penn State's spring football game is Saturday. Last year they drew around 73,000. In your opinions, Jay and Dana, why are fans so drawn to these scrimmages?
Rob (Tallahassee, Fla.)
I think it so uncool that during the draft they call someone "Mr.Irrelevant"..... it's as bad as calling the chubby girl in school "MissFatty"
Dana Jacobson (11:46 AM)
johnny first chance to see the team, some don't go to other games, some just diehards
James Denver
If Steph Curry is 6 foot 3 im 7 foot tall. I bet the kid barely measure over 6 foot and hes tk skinny for the NBA. He needs to add about 30 pounds of muscle.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Stephen Curry will be like Jason Terry, an energy guy that will give a team points while the star 2 is on the bench. I think he'll avg. around 10-12 pts per game rookie year.
Will (South Philly)
Dana i'm the funniest person on here but i never get posted am i too cruel or are you guys just trying to protect skip?
Dana Jacobson (11:46 AM)
Will you get posted. Come on now
Jay Crawford (11:48 AM)
Will (WV)
I want to be Mr. Irrelevant!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
<--------NUMBER 1 FAN
justin, wichita falls, tx
lions should draft jason smith the quarterbacks will be better in nxt years draft and who knows maybe culpepper and johnston will resemble culpepper and moss back in the day
Bernie, San Diego
I am down to see Jay and Skip dook it out! Don't be fooled, Skip has some guns but does he have the stamina? I don't know, maybe we should be asking Eva.
Patrick (Atlanta)
Dana. The Lions have at least 5 years before they are not made fun of anymore. Then again, if they draft Stafford and continue to ignore their needs on the O or D line, it might be a decade. Drafting Stafford is just like ANOTHER reciever. He can't do anything while laying on his back!
Jay Crawford (11:48 AM)
let's rumble!!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
<----Number 1 fan How many of you get personal emails from Jay Crawford? Thank you very much
Dana Jacobson (11:49 AM)
Patrick - I agree. But apparently the lions don't. hope they're right!!!
Elisse ( Michigan)
Is it okay to post that I love Skip? Cause I do...Does he have twitter? I'd love to tweet him.
Brian, Chicago
Curry will not make a good pro, as Skip likes to say....book it!
Jay Crawford (11:49 AM)
well, how many of you used to play with a former teammate!
Dana Jacobson (11:49 AM)
Elisse he's on our twitter espn_firsttake
Matt(New Britain,CT)
if it means a trip to the playboy mansion, then I would love to the last pick in the draft
Kevin, Cleveland
I say the browns trade edwards to detroit for the 1st pick, so then we can have 3 quarterbacks that no one else wants
Jay Crawford (11:49 AM)
good one!
Will (WV)
WIth the Lions first pick....M. Crabtree! Oh wait...they are done drafting receivers!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
You'll have to excuse Will. It's a requirement to be a whiner if you live in Philly. Just listen to their fans.
Rob (Tallahassee, Fla.)
Will - more often than not, people that "think" they're funny really aren't. truely funny people really don't think they're all that funny.
Jay Crawford (11:51 AM)
very true rob!
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Anyone watch the Cavaliers' parody of that Heineken commercial where the girls' excitement for the closet was out-done by the guys' excitement for the beer? Priceless...
Jay Crawford (11:51 AM)
we ran it yesterday...hysterical!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Lions trade away your picks for Boldin
Lew *Chicago*
I feel like Mr. Irrelevant on here....just no love for the LEW
Jay Crawford (11:51 AM)
there you go lew!
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Oh yeah, YouTube "Cavaliers Playoff Proposal".
wes(hixson,tn)
Stephen Curry (MR.SMOOTH) is a updated better version of Ray Allen, with his ability to drive, dribble, and of course his shooting ability is better than Ray's is. SKIP do you agree with that??? what about SCOOP??
Kevin, Cleveland,
I gotta give Dana the edge Jay sorry, although you and skip would be fun to watch, just think the trash talking would outweigh the actual fight
Jay Crawford (11:52 AM)
ha!
David, Atlanta
Jay.. we all told you the Marlins would flop. I think the little league team down the road could beat the Nationals 6 games so that's not really a good test!
Jay Crawford (11:53 AM)
flop? they're 11-4...easy now...
mark,phoenix
the loins wont make a big impact until they have a great defencive team and a good secondary as well. no QB's
Matt(New Britain,CT)
with the first pick in the draft, the lions select greg paulus "point guard out of duke??"
Chris Wooster Ohio
Stephen Curry will be a better shooting Daniel Gibson. I question whether he can gain enough strength to be a factor on defense though. It's not the NFL, where you have one specialized task, you have to be able to play offense and defense to be on the floor all the time. If he goes to a weak defensive team he might get his lack of strength and foot speed exposed. If he goes to a team like the Spurs, Cavs, or Celtics then they can hide him defensively early in his career.
Jay Crawford (11:53 AM)
funny matt!
Lew *Chicago*
Thanks Jay you always come through for the Lew!!!!!
Jay Crawford (11:53 AM)
i got your back sweet lew
David, Atlanta
Jay, They will lose 3 more to the Cubbies soon :)
Dana Jacobson (11:53 AM)
chris we're talking steph curry after this baseball segment
Jay Crawford (11:53 AM)
hmmm, let's see... i do love the cubs though!
shawn - IN
The Marlins are so overhyped...they've pretty much only played the Nationals!!
Kevin
Apparently they cant decide between DA and the Golden boy Brady Quinn, so why not add another arm to the mix
Jay Crawford (11:54 AM)
exactly!
Bernie, San Diego
What's up with a Tag Team Tango? Jay and Sage vs. Skip and Dana with Stephen A. with a Foot Locker Uniform on!!!
Jay Crawford (11:55 AM)
that would be funny! just to see stephen a in a ref jersey!
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Pirates pitching--what happened to the feel good 'Slum Dog Millionaire/Idol' story of the two Indian pitching prospects? Great story. Never heard an update. Assume they got their cup of coffee and are back home. Would be great if one or both are still in the farm system.
Jay Crawford (11:55 AM)
ray, dont expect to hear much from either arm. they have little or no chance of playing real baseball.
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Jay, you are showing your Tampa Bay favoritism. The buzz is not off the Marlins. They still have the best record in baseball. They are playing the Blue Jays in the World Series. Write it down in permanent ink!
Jay Crawford (11:56 AM)
oh no way calvin. remember...the marlins crushed my dream in 97. i was standing outrside the indians clubhouse and had to watch them hurry and wheel crates of champaigne and hats and tshirts out when they tied game 7 in the 9th... im far from a marlins fan.
Kevin, Cleveland
Stephen A would turn the Foot Locker Jersey into a 3 piece suit, or it would be a no go
Michael (KY)
What's up with the Braves nowadays???
Jace Minnesota
Skip/Scoop are you insane? No way he is a lottery pick much less a 1 or 2
Lew *Chicago*
LOL!!!
Peter (Miami, Fl)
Dana, are you still a Lions fan?
Dana Jacobson (11:58 AM)
Peter since birth
Dana Jacobson (11:58 AM)
well, since like age 5 or 6
Rob (Tallahassee, Fla.)
Do they really play baseball in Miami, or just the Nationals????
David, Atlanta
Dana and Jay, another great show! See ya tomorrow morning. Jay please step to the non-metrosexual side of your closet tomorrow and put on a shirt or tie that isn't purple/pink! :-P
Jay Crawford (11:59 AM)
ahahahhah! good one
Tom Bristol CT
Jay, keep the ties colorful and maybe give some of that color to Dana looking very drab today.
Jay Crawford (12:02 PM)
i thought dana's outfit looked nice today
Bernie, San Diego
David, dont hate the player hate the tailor!
Peter (Miami, Fl)
Stephen A. needs to come on tomorrow. I want to see skip sweat
Lew *Chicago*
Now that i finally got some love my day is complete. Time to get the rest of the day started! Have a good one Jay,Dana,My Man's Scoop and the lovely Sage Steele!!!! Go BULLS!!!!!
Will (South Philly)
Horrible speach by steph Curry where's the swagger, your leaving davidson you should be happy who wants to be there

As much as I am a Braves fan, and I hate to say this, but it is time to say goodbye to Bobby Cox...
Sean (TR NJ)
Not very nice to say to a lady Tom Dana always looks very well put together in my opinion
David, Atlanta
I agree.. Dana looked hot.
Sean (TR NJ)
Sorry to crush your dream Jay but the Marlins are for real this year to. Probably not the division but I had them as a wild card before season opened and we all know when the Marlins make a postseason watch out!
Jake
The NHL playoffs have been amazing this year.. to bad everyone misses out on the best playoffs of all the sports.
mark
they just get sun tans in maimi not baseball
Matt (Laramie, WY)
Dana, It's good that you stick with the Lions shows loyalty. I mean I am a Redskins fan and lord knows we have been trying to buy a Championship since Dan Snyder took over. At least we can say the Lions are not trying to buy a championship, they are trying to build one.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Rob, stop dissing my hometown baseball team. It's the "Natinals"
Jay Crawford (12:05 PM)
they play in ur natins capitl
Adam G. Tampa, FL

Does Skip ever wear a tie?
Jay Crawford (12:05 PM)
nope! his collars are always high and proud
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Scronny old Steph Curry a number 2 pick? No way he's a 6th man
New York City, N.Y.
Hey has anyone heard about Jose Reyes and Johan Santana from the New York Mets signed an endorsement deal with SoNu Water Beverages. That is so cool!! I've actually tried a sample of SoNu water at Whole Foods and it taste so refreshing. SoNu Water comes in different flavors and it has a boosting cocktail of vitamins and electrolytes!!! Everyone should try it!!!
Jay Crawford (12:06 PM)
ok ny ny...no more free ads!

Dana, I commend you on being able to admit that, I couldn't!

Jay Crawford (12:07 PM)
we're heading now! great chat today group! talk tomorrow.. peace, and live like its the last day of school.
Matt(New Britain,CT)
here about the michigan millonaire taking applications for a wife? any interests?
Dana Jacobson (12:08 PM)
see that's how you get your millions and you can stay in school!!!! kidding!!
Elisse (Michigan)
I agree Jake that the NHL playoffs have been great, however I don't enjoy the NHL playoffs more than I enjoy the NBA playoffs. Not sure why.
Dana Jacobson (12:11 PM)
Elisse, im just not getting the games I want!! But NHL can be more surprising.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Dana, of course the winner will be of age and have his or her diploma already. Ha ha.

Dana Jacobson (12:14 PM)
bernie, to be a lions fan is to be crazy
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Dana, let me know if you're ever running a similar search. I'm of age and have many diplomas. Love to apply.
Dana Jacobson (12:15 PM)
Ray all I need is the million dollars and I'll launch one.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Bye Dana
Dana Jacobson (12:15 PM)
adam nice work as always
Jake ( Michigan)
why would the lions not take Aaron Curry? he is the best linebacker available and defense is a major need for the lions to focus on in the draft...
Dana Jacobson (12:16 PM)
jake same reason they aren't taking the guy i want them to take, jason smith. they have set their sights on stafford, scoop and i were talking about it...everyone wants the next matt ryan - i dont think that's stafford. i just hope i'm wrong. and even if i'm not, the line better improve or it wont matter
Jake (Michigan)
being a lions fan is one thing i never regret. it makes you appreciate the wins so much more when they happen
Dana Jacobson (12:17 PM)
I just haven't seen one of those, especially in person, in a long time!
Ricky, Peoria, IL
Dana, Well, I am just as crazy, I am not a lions fan but I am a Chiefs fan...Is that bad? lol
Dana Jacobson (12:17 PM)
Ricky - hang in there!
Dana Jacobson (12:18 PM)
