Hey everyone, we've got Colgate's Brandon Corp and Kevin Colleluori on the chat today. They'll play Navy in the Patriot League semifinals tomorrow and we'll have the game live-blogged for you on InsideLacrosse.com. Let's get chatting...
Paul from Syracuse
Brandon, Huge games this weekend. Do you feel there is allot of pressure on you to perform at a high level, and if so, how do you handle the pressure?
Brandon Corp (3:03 PM)
I dont look at it as pressure on me individually. I dont really feel that im pressured to do anything more than what ive been doing thus far. If anything our entire has the pressure.
PJ (Center Valley, PA)
How has the Patriot League evolved during your four seasons in Hamilton?
Brandon Corp (3:07 PM)
When i came here the teams to beat were navy and army but now that weve improved the league is more competitive. Bucknell has also came on strong the past couple of years so this league is solid and the teams can compete with the best of them
Scott Lucas (Folson County, OK)
hey guys, what do you do in the off season (and during the season) for strength and conditioning? do you do more olympic type movements, focusing on leg and raider power? or more beach muscles?
Brandon Corp (3:11 PM)
great question. i like to keep it well rounded. i work out extremely hard in the off season. i keep an uptempo workout where i dont really do too much heavy lifting. im just trying to stay lean and sculpt my muscles. haha.
Kevin Colleluori (3:13 PM)
During the off season we do a lot of olmypic type lifting focusing on legs and the muscles important to lacrosse. The Long Island guys on our team like to work the biceps everyday for a little extra pump. We do not really lift during the season.
Andrew ( Syracuse, NY)
You were a highly recruited and dominant High School athlete. What made you chose Colgate? They weren't in the spotlight do you think choosing colgate has allowed you to make it this far?
Brandon Corp (3:15 PM)
Thats a good question. Colgate wanted me the most and i knew that they were an upcoming program where i could possibly make a serious impact. I had no idea i would make it this far but i think that choosing colgate was the best choice
Jon, San Diego
Hey Kevin, huge fan out here. I understand you guys have added a new coach to the staff this year in Denis Cronin V, straight from the island to help you with shooting. Would you say that is the single biggest difference in this year from last and your numbers increase?
Kevin Colleluori (3:17 PM)
I would have to give some credit to who I call Papa Cronin. He has been instrumental in my shooting this year and in the past with his unorthodox snagle foot goalie approach. Could not thank him enough!
Macrina Seals (Philadelphia, PA)
Brandon, You're having such a great season. It's too bad there isn't a Philly MLL team anymore so I could watch. Which would be your ideal team to play in the MLL?
Brandon Corp (3:20 PM)
hey macrina! hope all is well. i dont know if i have an ideal team. if i get picked up in the mll i am not really too worried about where i would play. i do like large cities though
Robbie, LI
Kevin, who is the best player you have ever played with, Past or Present? thx
Kevin Colleluori (3:21 PM)
That is a toss up. I think it is a tie between Brandon Corp and Denis Matthew Cronin V.
Brendo #17
How many times in your collegiate career have you run up the ski hill?
Brandon Corp (3:22 PM)
ive lost count...so many times
Kevin Colleluori (3:22 PM)
Unfortunately, I would have to say at least 10!
Ashley (Durham, N.C.)
You guys are a dynamic duo at attack. Who are the best defensemen in your opinion you have come up against during your careers?
Brandon Corp (3:27 PM)
i would definitely have to say navy's jordan dinola who graduated last season. and unc has a tremendous defender. i am horrible at remembering names but i remember him being really big..that guy
Kevin Colleluori (3:27 PM)
I don't know many of their names so I would say Parker Mckee from Duke this year.
Chuck (Hamilton, NY)
Hey, I was just wondering if Kevin wants to come back to class, we are in the middle of Native American project presentations. You should want to learn about them considering lacrosse is a Native American sport.
Kevin Colleluori (3:33 PM)
I definitely agree, but our presentations were on Native American artists and mine is next week.
Matt Lalli from NYC
Who is your favorite Alumni teammate, you played with during your 4 years at Colgate?
Brandon Corp (3:34 PM)
wow thats is a really tough question. seriously. i am not going to name favorites..... .no i would have to say Matt Lalli
Reid Diamond, Boston, MA
What is it like without Chris Eck in the locker room?
Kevin Colleluori (3:35 PM)
I am actually really thirsty. I can't take his vitamin waters anymore. And oh ya....a lot more quiet!
Chris, Jenkinton
Yoos Corp, great season man. I thinks I might be having a kid soon and wanted to know if you had any suggestions for teaching him how to play lax like you do?
Brandon Corp (3:37 PM)
yoos chris. hope all is well. haha i guess i would tell your son to always enjoy himself and to find the pleasure in working hard because it pays off in the end.
Genie P. (West Warwick, RI)
Hi guys, what kind of music do you listen to in the locker room to get ready before games. I prefer R&B but I realize that metal music rifles up young people.
Kevin Colleluori (3:38 PM)
I prefer techno. Just techno. It's on early, often, and very loud. That is why we probably have the best warm up mix in D-1 lacrosse that was mixed by the legend himself DJ Stoooch.
Chuck B (Hamilton, NY)
This question is for both of you... we all know there are a lot of regional lax rivalries and opinions in high school... why do you think upstate or island lax is better and why?
Brandon Corp (3:40 PM)
i think that upstate lax is the best. we arent sweet laxers or anything like that haha. we just get the job done and we do it well.
Gunter (Hamburg, Germany)
Hello Kevin: I have followed your career from Europe. I love seeing Colgate, the underdog, win games against big teams. Any plans to play internationally after Colgate? Us Germans would love to see you play here!
Kevin Colleluori (3:43 PM)
That sounds great. but I don't think you will see me crossing the pond any time soon. Us Long Islanders don't really like to leave our island for that long of time.
Bryan (Baltimore, Md.)
I have heard that Coach Nagle is one of the most dedicated, professional coaches in the country. My son is considering Colgate. Is Coach Nagle as good as advertised?
Brandon Corp (3:44 PM)
i dont think u can deny that nagle is a tremendous coach. he has taken this program to a new level through his recruiting and coaching. he wants to win. period. and he will take the necessary steps to do so. he is always upfront and lets you know exactly what he expects from you. he has helped me in so many ways
Your Next Door Neighbors in the Locker Room, Hamilton, NY
Just wondering where we can get a sound system like yours, ours is clearly an embarrassment in comparison.
Kevin Colleluori (3:47 PM)
I heard Nick Monastero "knows a guy". He's the meatball with the gold chain. I am sure you have seen him around town with his escalade and his back hatch open.
Jason Kapnick, Atlanta, GA
Does Coach Cronin ever sleep in the locker room, like he did when he was a player?
Brandon Corp (3:47 PM)
he is now a coach. so he has moved to bigger and better things. now...occasionally u can find him face down asleep on a library desk...he practically lives in the library but he exemplifies what a college student goes through
SalvO New York, NY
What happened against Bucknell in the last game of the season? What would you do differently if you meet them in the Patriot League Final?
Kevin Colleluori (3:50 PM)
I think they played great and have to give them credit. Next time we have to be ready to play and bring a lot of energy all over the field.
Brandon Corp (3:50 PM)
the last game against bucknell was tough to swallow. we feel that they just had a great day and we just couldn't put it all together and tha'ts the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. but we can redeem ourselves so that's a good feeling
Jonathan Mason, Toronto, Canada
What do you think about right before a huge game like this? And what does this game mean to you both?
Kevin Colleluori (3:53 PM)
I approach it like any other game. I'm just going out and playing a game that I love and embracing every moment I have left to play it. This game means a lot to me because we always want to beat Navy and this is to get into the championship game.
Brandon Corp (3:53 PM)
i just go into every game with the mindset that i am going to leave absolutely everything on the field. i think about what i have done to make it this far and the amount of work that i have put in and then it just comes down to a matter of letting it all hang out. no fear. playing within our system. and enjoying it all the while. this game is one more step towards winning the championship and getting the automatic qualifier. its my season year so i want to make the most of it too
joe ( phila.) [via mobile]
when is EA sports going to man up and make a lax game?
Kevin Colleluori (3:57 PM)
I wish they would but unfortunately I don't work for EA Sports. I think I know a guy that could probably create it. Chris Eck would be the best bet to get it done.
Brandon Corp (3:58 PM)
i wish they would! i have dreamed of that for years..its too bad because i dont play video games as much as i used to but if they introduced a lax game i would definitely get back in touch with video games
Hugo, Ann Arbor, MI
You guys will play the Pat League Tourney on the road instead of in Hamilton. Any advantages to playing on the road?
Kevin Colleluori (3:59 PM)
This week is Spring Party Weekend here at Colgate so being away will allow us to stay away from distractions and get a good sleep in.
Brandon Corp (3:59 PM)
it is nice to get away sometimes. when school an the weather is all coming down on you in hamilton, going away for a couple of days can be a treat. and i like the team dinners too. they are amazing
Jon Brand (4:02 PM)
Ok, that's it for today. The guys have practice this afternoon and then head to Bucknell this evening. Remember, you can follow the Patriot League tournament and the rest of the second-to-last NCAA regular season weekend on InsideLacrosse.com.
