hey gang...should the refs have called a flagrant foul on the Celtics' Rondo last night for that foul on Brad Miller at the end of the game??
Moderator (9:57 AM)
Jam packed show today folks, Skip Bayless is joined by Jalen Rose for 1st and Ten today...we also have to weigh in on Dwight Howard's elbow...what should the NBA do about what he threw at Sam Dalambert?
Will (WV)
MOD....do you think it was a flagrant?
Moderator (10:01 AM)
I'll defer to Jalen Rose's take on it....coming up in 1st Down...I think I agree with his interpretation...
illwill(South Jersey)
Howard should be suspended for a game atleast...he obvisously did it on purpose
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
Sorry, I was waxing my back....what was the question?
Moderator (10:02 AM)
Chris obviously enjoyed Mike and Mike's show this morning
illwillworm-South Jersey
hell no...if they called that fouled it would be the worst event for the nba...the refs would of been fired. this is the best series this year...its almost better than last years championship series
Will (WV)
We always say that the refs should let the players play it out at the end of the game, especially a close one, yet, that was clearly a flagrant foul last night...yet, still no excuse for the Bulls loosing the game.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
How was Rondo's hit not a flagrant foul?!?!?
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Mod, did you run over to witness the waxing?
Moderator (10:04 AM)
I'm one of those rare people that doesn't rubberneck on the highway when I drive by a car accident...does that answer your question, Jason?
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
That's nonsense. That was defnition flagrant foul. NBA refs are the worst officials in sports. Period.
Mike (Bethel, CT)
Bulls just blew their chances of advancing in the playoffs with this devastating defeat
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
On Rondo: A flagrant, yes. Suspension, no. On Howard: Flagrant, yes. Suspension, yes. (During playoffs)
Kevin, Cleveland
Mod, I agree, just heard his take on mike and mike
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
They say "no blood, no foul", well...there was blood. One game suspension is in order.
Matt(New Britain,CT)
fact that rondo knocked a tooth out makes it seem worse than it was
Kevin, Cleveland
How can you not call a flagrant on that play? He had no play on the ball, the ball was already out of miller's hand, and rondo swung through and smashes him in the lip, i'm all for swallowing the whistle for ticky tack calls but come on, I think the league needs to issue a statement about this one.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
When is a flagrant foul not a flagrant foul? When it is committed by the home team in OT of a playoff game. I saw the play and it was a flagrant that should have been called. Also, Dwight Howard should get Game 6 of his series off. There is no place in the game for cheap shot elbows.
illwill (south jersey)
the bulls shouldnt be mad at all...they blew a 10point lead with about 9 minutes ago...shame on the bulls not the refs or celts!!!!
Scott (Colorado Springs)
J. Rose you are right on Miller making it a bigger deal then it should have been, but I think as a center you should be use to getting foul. Do you think Shaq goes into a game thinking he won't be fouled. Serisouly! Really! They came up with a foul for Shaq.
Angelica Rose (Los Angeles)
Jalen Rose says that the Spurs are not done yet with this run, I disagree. They looked tired, old and outmatched. It has nothing to do with Manu's absence
John , TX
If this was Lebron that got hit Rondo would have got a flagrant, a fine, and a suspension. That's what I hate about the NBA.
Pat (Chicago)
If it was a point guard getting hit, the center would have a technical maybe even an ejection.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
By the way, I can't think of another sport where we consistently talk about terrible officiating this much.
Moderator (10:13 AM)
the NFL gets slammed on a weekly basis for its officiating, Winslow
Kevin (El Paso)
Dwight Howard should be suspended 2 or more games for his wicked elbow.
Scott (Colorado Springs)
I think Dwight Howard watched the UFC before he started his basketball game and then started daydreaming when he dropped that elbow. You should introduce him to Brock Lesnar.
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
Illwill, So your saying that wasn't an obvious flagrant foul?
rob (murray utah)
was the non-flagrant call a mke up call for the foul the on ben gordon when he clearly stepped out of bounds and they gave him 3 freethrows to tie it up....
Robert (San Diego, CA)
What people are forgetting is it's ticky-tack fouls that shouldn't be called at the end of close games. This was a blatant hand to the face and there was no play on the ball at all
Matt(New Britain,CT)
unlike rondo, dwight knew what he was doing, further action needs to be taken
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
I actually think that NBA officiating isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The only time people complain about it for the most part is when there team loses a close playoff game.
Matt (Laramie, WY)
The strike zone in baseball is questioned quite often.
Bryan (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
Everyone has been screaming for Dwight Howard to get meaner and not just smile when he gets hit. Last night he finally did and everyone will want him suspended. Typical flip flopping from most analysts.
Moderator (10:19 AM)
Huddle up around your TV's gang...plays of the week nominees are coming up in a few...then you submit your vote to me on a scale of 1-10...got a star-studded panel of judges for ya today
Michael Kim (10:21 AM)
Good morning everyone... I see you guys have their elbows flying.
Michael Kim (10:22 AM)
Bryan, I agree Howard needs to be more aggressive but who is calling for violence? There's a difference. That's not flip-flopping.
Moderator (10:23 AM)
Langkamp's soccer goal...Ovechkin's through-the-legs move/goal...or D. Wade's drive, hang, jam...rate 'em and vote on 'em folks..
Steven (Philadelphia, PA)
Good Morning, Dana & Mike.....great show as always. Bryan, getting mean is one thing, throwing an elbow that clearly connected is something else. As Jalen Rose just said, back in the day that elbow would have been nothing, but the rules have changed. I heard Jeff Van Gundy say to Mike & Mike that the rules should be different late in the game. No Way! Unfortunately, Dwight Howard should be suspended for Game 6.
Phillip (Greenville, NC)
Langkamp's goal is clearly the winner here. He is sliding from about 40 yards out and chips the goalkeeper. It was unbelievable.
Moderator (10:27 AM)
Phillip, give me a rating, 1-10...you get a yellow card for not following the contest rules
Pat (Denver, CO)
All three are impressive in their own right. First Wade's dunk seems to be something we see from him often so it is expected (and lets be honest it isn't really even that exciting of a dunk), the soccer goal also impressive but probably makes it 1/100 times, Ovechkin personally sliced through the defense and yet again scored from basically on his chest. My vote is for Ovechkin
Moderator (10:28 AM)
Pat...a lot of words and you still didn't rate the dunks...take another shot
Mike, Florida
D-Wade wins this one, amazing timing on the slash to the basket plus he throws it down with a hand in his face.
Moderator (10:28 AM)
1-10 ratings Mike...re-do your ballot
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Soccer Goal - 7.5 Hockey Goal - 9.0 BBall Dunk - 8.0
Moderator (10:29 AM)
nice Jason, nice...on the back end, you can add your commentary, you earned it by putting the ratings in first
Scott (Colorado Springs)
Bryan (Ft. Lauderdale) There is a difference between being tough on the basketball court and throwing UFC eblows.
Matt(New Britain,CT)
the goal a 10/10,real talent. ovechkin,8/10(been there done that) dunk a 6/10(nothing special)
Jacob (Danville, PA)
That soccer goal was the most amazing goal ive ever seen. Yes ive seen people shoot goals from mid-field before, but not while in the slide tackle motion! The amount of force he had behind that kick is unimaginable.
Umor (detroit)
Ovechkin a 10. Wade a 5 he always does that. Soccerkicker 0. It's soccer, who cares.
Rick (Mars, PA)
Definitely Ovechkin's goal. I'm not a fan of his, but I can't get enough of that move.
Sean (TR NJ)
Ovechkin a 9 Langkamp a 7 and a half 8 Dwade a 7 Ovechkin is just flat out awsome. Expect more of the same next round
Brian (Ann Arbor, MI)
Langkamps : 5 Seemed pretty par for the course for soccer goals Ovechkin: 5 See Langkamp D. Wade: 8 That was pretty nasty
Moderator (10:33 AM)
2nd down topics...did we see the end of the Spurs run last night or can they retool and win another championship
Eric-Illinois
Brad Miller should know a little about dirty fouls. What goes around eventually comes around.NO SUSPENSION!
Joe(Buffalo, NY)
If you tried to repeat all three of these feats in a real game situation, the soccer goal would be the hardest to repeat.
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
Either way it's too dangersous to be elbowing people in the head, Howard is too big to be elbowing people.
Michael N, (Philadelphia, PA)
Matt.... WHAT BEEN THERE DONE THAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS ISN'T PEE WEE this is the pros and lets not forget he scored this goal on Lundqvist.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
Honestly, who could watch that and say either Howard didn't try to elbow his face or that Rondo didn't go for the head? Anyone?
Matt Lawton,OK
I agree with skip. Dwight pulled the elbow because he is just not that kind of player.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Soccer Goal 8 This is a brilliant shot.... shades of Beckham... MAGNIFICENT Hockey Goal 10 Unbelieveable ability and talent by the class of the NHL Ovechkin. D Wade Dunk 9 Beautiful display of athleticism, but he does this dunk in his sleep.
jkein indy
Tell Skip the Spurs are done its over by the time they have absolutely no young talent except tony parker. They are not going to make the playoffs for the next four yrs. They are going back to the baby blue court days lol
Christian(carmel,IN)
the spurs are not getting worse. they stil have their big three. but the reason they lost is because they did not have ginobli!! the mavs are gonna get swept by the nuggets in the next round.
Robbie (San Antonio, TX)
Championship run..yes...Championship title...no way. The rest of the west are way too young for that to happen.
Chizzie Thornton, Co
Spurs are old news. Lets talk about the NEW NBA Champs ---The Denver Nuggets
illwill (South Jersey
the spurs are done...its time for them to start rebuilding...duncan has 1 more year left...gotta build around tony parker...get everybody else outta there...even Manu...he is injury prone
Michael Kim (10:38 AM)
That Ovechkin goal gets a 10. Five world-class athletes are trying as hard as they can to merely poke the puck away from him -- and they can't! Then, he lights the lamp on one of the league's top goaltenders.
Michael Kim (10:39 AM)
8.5 for the soccer goal. 8 for D-Wade.
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
Christian, They are getting worse. They're getting older and slower and this ginobli thing is forming a pattern. The mavs will not get swept in the next round, book it!
Christian(carmel,IN)
the goal gets a 10 because the degree of difficulty was off the charts. the handle of the puck was amazing. the goal was a 8 it looked really cool but was uncontested. the dunk was an 8 also because it wasover horford and there was contact.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
I don't doubt Pop or Duncan. They'll figure out a way to be competitive
Pat (Chicago)
The spurs are on the decline. They aren't going to surge next year. The long rest for Duncan isn't going to heal him. He is just going to get older during that break.
Michael Kim (10:43 AM)
Pat, I wouldn't count out the Spurs just yet. Manu's absence was HUGE. If he's back healthy, they will contend. Parker's not getting slower -- at least, not next season and Duncan's game isn't likely to drop in production in one year.
PG (NC)
Spurs are not to old as far as the top 3 is concerned. They have one more year at a championship level. But they need a younger more athletic supporting cast. Especially at the front line.
Sean (phila, Pa)
ovechkin 10, soccer goal 8, wade dunk 0 who cares about the nba
Chizzie Thornton, Co
Mr. Kim whats your take, on the Nuggets?
Steven (Philadelphia, PA)
the Sebastian Langkamp goal: I give it an 8....the length was a factor Dwayne Wade: 7....good dunk, but he's done stuff like this before Alexander Ovechkin: 9.........FANDAMNTASTIC
Michael Kim (10:44 AM)
Chizzie... I love this team. Fun to watch. That's why I'm tired on the mornings after their late games. Billups is the difference. Melo and the rest can do their thing. But the Lakers are nearly unbeatable in a seven-game set.
Michael Kim (10:45 AM)
Plus, I'm a big fan of George Karl.
Sean (TR NJ)
Another instance where I posted before on this issue. I am sick of hearing this end of a dynasty stuf. I am not a Spurs fan but some minor re-tooling and a healthy Ginobli will put them right in the thick of things again. Plus why all the Duncan's to old talk a little premature don't you think?
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
The Spurs will be fine. Maybe not elite level without some major changes, but they'll be in the picture in the West.
Sean (TR NJ)
I am sick of hearing this end of a dynasty stuf. I am not a Spurs fan but some minor re-tooling and a healthy Ginobli will put them right in the thick of things again. Plus why all the Duncan's to old talk a little premature don't you think?
CHipperjones spring lake Mi
who cares about the spurs i love Tim but im glad i don't have to watch them any more this year.
Michael Kim (10:47 AM)
Sean, you are right on point. Agree there is one more good run in them.
Dana Jacobson (10:48 AM)
hey folks, sorry i'm late. computer issues and trying to find steve smith on facebook for a segment we're doing later today! for those who were listening that's why the slip of giants b/f rangers on the hockey highlight last block
Kenny (Traverse City MI)
Everyone. Please dont forget that Robert Horry was suspended 2 games for a flagrant foul that was a body check, not a punch w/ his elbow. In that same game Stoddameyer was suspended a game for leaving the bench. ...I normally agree with Skip but today he is way off his rocker.
justin(ohio)
The soccer play was awesome i give it a 10...D-wade gets a 8 and i dont watch hockey but nice play i give it a 7.5
Scott (Colorado Springs)
My buddy is a huge fan of the Spurs and he told me it is over, there getting old and the injuries are killing them. They might make the playoffs but won't be winning another Championship for a while.
Mike Hill (10:49 AM)
What's up??
CHipperjones spring lake Mi
im a soccer fan but ovechkins goallllllllllllllllllll ! was sweet
Paul (Palm Beach FL)
Who do you think will pick up James now that Arizona let him go?
Pedro (NC)
Soccer 5. Wade 7. Ovie 9. I love soccer but thats luck. I am more impressed by tough precise plays made by skill, which soccer is filled with, than luck.
Ryan (Lansing, MI)
Ovechkin: 9. I dont watch hockey and I really feel like I should watching this man's replays, that was sick. Langkamps: 4, didn't impress me. Wade: 6, sweet but nothing over the top.
Dana Jacobson (10:50 AM)
paul, so many teams seem to have their backfields done...not sure. might be a situation of get into camp see who's hurt even. but i don't think it'll be an immediate pick up
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
I love watching people overreact to any sort of series loss. The Spurs were missing one of their big three. I think that might have contributed rather significantly.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Manu and Parker when healthy are the best backcourt in the NBA. 2nd Rondo and Pierce
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
But ginobli is never healthy! neither is tim duncans knees, they won't heal that is just stupid.
Daniel (Laredo, TX)
As surpringsingly this may sound but i usually love skip and respect his facts/opinions, but HE IS SO WRONG ABOUT THE SPURS... he said the magic name R.C. BUFORD... if buford can drat a decent center who has potential, specially on the defensive side. Tim Duncan can mentor him, hence like david mentored him back in 1999. let the rebuilding process for ANOTHER DYNASTY future BEGIN
Chizzie Thornton, Co
So, Mr. Kim, you said "nearly unbeatable", that means you think the Nuggets have a shot. Yes I'm looking past the Mavs
Dana Jacobson (10:52 AM)
daniel, thing is if you're rebuilding you don't have another run in you, you're rebuilding!!
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Dana, what do you think about the plays of the week?
Dana Jacobson (10:53 AM)
Jason, i wasn't watching when we aired em...i'll have to see them when we show them again at the top of the hour
Phillip (Greenville, NC)
My bad. Langkamp-9 Ovechkin-8 Wade-5. Wade's dunk happens every night.
Tony (Lawrence, KS)
I could see Edge to Seattle, Green Bay, or the Bills (they suprise with pick-ups lately)
Pat (Chicago)
Langkanp - 9 - sliding and 30-40 yards away, excellent Ovechkin - 10 - greatest hockey goal I have ever seen Wade - 3 - no where near close to these other two. Earlier in the game, they did the Exact same play. The other two you can't do twice.
Michael Kim (10:53 AM)
Chizzie: Never say never, I guess... But I'd be shocked (and so would most NBA fans) if Lakers-Cavs isn't the Finals matchup...
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
I gave the soccer goal a lower score because it had a large element of luck. I guess I've seen Wade make those kind of plays so often, it doesn't wow me anymore. In the hockey goal, he took on the entire team solo and made them all look stupid.
jkein indy
ovechkin 10 wade 9.5 and 3.5 for soccer seeing as how the keeper helped alot on that goal
Dana Jacobson (10:53 AM)
tony, bills already have 2 rbs that split time. i think we can all agree it'll be a tandem thing, edge isn't a featured back anymore
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
While soccer is a sport accepted universally, I cannot vote anything from soccer a score higher than a five. D-Wade's move was nice but nothing we haven't seen many, many times. He gets a seven. Ovechkin's play was mesmerizing. Great stick handling and skating to weave his way to a goal. I hate Ovechkin as a Pens fan and I still give that a nine.
Colin (Baltimore, Maryland)
As stated earlier, Langkamp 10 Ovie 8.5 Wade 7.0.. Langkamp pure class!
CHipperjones spring lake Mi
Hey mr. fab 5, if your going to suspend howard than you need to suspend rondo also. i'm tired of hearing that this is playoff basketball and those call can't be made. If i recall a few years ago amare took 1 step onto the court and got suspended. This is all a joke it comes down to ratings. the NBA just doesn't want its superstars homw for the playoffs. its all about ratings. suspend them both........who cares about the spurs. i love tim but im just glad i son't have to watch them play anymore this year.
Donny (Boston)
Ovechkin 9, Wade 5, Soccer play 2, no love for Ellsbury stealin home??
Moderator (10:55 AM)
good point Donny, I think everyone is holding out their baseball love till hockey and hoops playoffs are over
Dana Jacobson (10:55 AM)
CHipperjones... you know what i'm sick of? all the whinning! if coaches complained less, the real awful non calls would get the appropriate attention and not seem like whinning
Paul (Palm Beach Fl.)
Edge wants to be a starter and get at least the money he was going to get from the Cards and I just don't see that happening unless there is a serious injury at Rb. for a contender.
Dana Jacobson (10:57 AM)
Paul, i'm with you. I don't see it happening. A few green bay mentions here...who was working with ryan grant last year? I don't remember. It could work except gbay can be cheap in free agency they sure were this offseason
*Lew* Chicago
I wasn't going to write a comment, but after reading many it makes me feel better i am not alone with regards to the NBA. I can't blame the ref's with the BULLS leading by 11 at one point. But they would have won by 20 if their fouls were shooting fouls as the celtics were. Instead most were non shooting and when the game is over it "looks" even.
Dana Jacobson (10:57 AM)
gotta go do tv, back soon
Moderator (11:00 AM)
3rd down topics... -who's to blame for the Bulls squandering an 11 point lead -does Jalen have a problem with prep star jeremy tyler opting to play pro ball in Europe instead of going to Louisville? -which QB will get drafted first next year; Tebow, McCoy, or Bradford?
Michael Kim (11:01 AM)
Tony, I like the Edge to Buffalo call. Drew Rosenhaus already worked a deal for T.O. there. And, he'll get some early work with Marshawn Lynch suspended.
Colin (Baltimore, Maryland)
QB wise is a GREAT debate.. Tebow is an outstanding athlete, on paper he looks like a dream QB..Bradford might have the most impressive stats, McCoy I see kind of as a Jay Cutler type..great ability if coached right and put around the right team.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
Tebow better NOT get drafted. He's a slightly more talented Chase Daniels. He can't play pro quarterback. ANd his crying speech about trying harder won't mean much in the pros.
Moderator (11:04 AM)
Jets offensive lineman Damien Woody coming on the show in a second, he's in the studio
Kenny (Traverse City MI)
Bradford 1st, Mccoy 2nd, and Tebow wont be drafted as a QB
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
Bradford needs to Bulk up. And McCoy beeds to work on more pro-style offense. Bradford will get picked first.
Michael Kim (11:05 AM)
Winslow... Don't be so sure about Tebow. All I ask is that you watch to see if/how Pat White performs this season. If he does well in a Wildcat package, you better believe Tebow will get looks just for that -- if not as a fulltime QB. He's raw but there are plenty of skills that transition well to the NFL, in my opinion.
John, Austin
No way Tebow gets dfafted ahead of either McCoy or Bradford. Of course we down here in Texas love Colt more than Sam. Colt has had less to work with and has a much cooler name!!!
John, TX
Bradford will get the hype to be the #1 pick, then later McCoy will have crazy hype like Sanchez did but it will end up being Bradford getting picked before McCoy. Tebow will get drafted if the Wildcat gets more successful this year.
justin(ohio)
Bradford is goin #1..McCoy will be late 1st or earlier 2nd round...Tebow is goin to get draft maybe 3rd round for the wildcat
Colin (Baltimore, Maryland)
Damien, pumped about the possibility of blocking for Sanchez?
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
Tebow is nobody's dream QB! The guy could not get it done in the pros under center. He's a good athlete, great college player. But Pro quarterback is a different beast.
Jessie ( West Chester Pa. )
I tend not to care for sports I can't play(soccer). But like it or not if anyone has ever attempted the Pele esk kick they would know that it is truely a master piece! 10 10 10 all across the board...
Michael Kim (11:07 AM)
John, I agree. Colt should've won the Heisman last year, in my opinion -- no knock on Bradford -- but Sam had a LOT more talent/support around him and Colt beat him head-to-head.
Dana Jacobson (11:07 AM)
i know no one calls football players cute but how cute were those kids...and yes they're kids - mike and keenan?? i'll be rooting for those 2
Pat (Chicago)
I agree with you Michael Kim. If Pat White does really well in the wildcat, the wildcat won't be a fluke, and every team will want a wildcat QB.
Paul (palm beach fl)
Ya have to love the 2 friends going to Pittsburgh in the 3rd round. That is a great story. I hope they play together for a long time.
Michael Kim (11:08 AM)
Thanks, Pat. The Wildcat is here to stay in the NFL.
Bernie, San Diego
Howard needs to be suspended. It seems to me that Dwight Howard has this superman image and always does the right thing, which is wrong. He made a choice and he has to live with it, you cant just throw elbows in the NBA no matter who you are. What would we be debating if it had been Ron Artest? Exactly...
Dana Jacobson (11:08 AM)
Bernie, jalen made a similar point earlier
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
I honestly believe that Graham Harrel would be a better pro quarterback than Tebow could be. I can't believe he didn't get picked up.
Kevin (El Paso)
I hope Woody blocks better for Sanchez than he did for the Detroit QBs.
Dana Jacobson (11:09 AM)
Winslow he still can be. Sometimes people just don't have the vision
Brian (Michigan)
Throwing the ball translates well to the NFL. Too bad that's not Tebow's strength. Neither is reading the defense. Or progressing through his options.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Offensive line protection is always the answer. Even Payton Manning has trouble when his protection breaks down. Way too much emphasis on QB
adam g
Training day
Dana Jacobson (11:10 AM)
brian, i'll be curious to see tebow this year and if he's developed in his weak areas
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
Michael Kim, I agree and if you could convince him to stay in the pocket he could be a good QB.
Tony (Lawrence, KS)
Mr. Kim, thanks for the props from a Tiger to a Jayhawk.
Michael Kim (11:13 AM)
Cody, you're talking about Tebow, correct? His mobility is an asset. What we're going to find out is if he can take an NFL hit -- and I think he can.
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
Jalen is dead on about rose, that round skip loses.
*Lew* Chicago
Educate him Jalen!!!
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
Tebow can take an NFL hit. That's true. He needs to be converted to full back or something.
John, Austin
Picture this...Chad Penington in the shotgun next to Pat White. Think of all the play calling options they've got.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
The wildcat works, until defenses stop it. It won't take long. Athletic linebackers snuff that stuff out.
Kevin (Atlanta)
Bradford & McCoy are 1,2. also I'll take Zac Robinson and Jevon Snead(if he declares) over Tebow as QB's go.
Mike Hill (11:16 AM)
Man....we thru Damien Woody way under the bus with that Denzel trivia.....gotta blame our segment producer, Gabe for that one.....LOL
justin(ohio)
This is the year we get to see who Tebow really is...harvin is gone so who is he goin to throw too?
Walker (Cincinnati, OH)
Why is everyone so down on Tebow? The guy will be a stud in the NFL, if not at QB then H-back. All he does is win and look for him to be drafted in the 2nd round next year after winning another National Championship.
Kenny (Traverse City MI)
so many people seem to question Harrel as a pro QB. I think people forget how many QB's come from other leagues (e.g. Warner, Delhomme)
Sean (TR NJ)
I think Tebow will be dangerous in the NFL as a hybrid kind of guy but #1 I think is McCoy
Pat (Chicago)
Jalen must have been reading my commments. What does he have to fall back on if he hurts his ankle?
Michael Kim (11:19 AM)
First of all, love all this college football talk in April... The Wildcat is put to the test this season with Pat White because now we will see how a true passing game turns the Wildcat into an option offense. (And Pat White can throw the ball fast, long and with accuracy. This guy can play!)
Matt(New Britain,CT)
jalen schooling skip on jeremy tyler
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Skip is dead on about the 1 year rule. Forcing a kid to go to school for one year is a slap in the face to the educational system.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Skip I'm with you go to Europe and get the money. Our economy is horrible. Make the money now when you can. Then go back to school if injured.
J.P> St. Petersburg,FL
Skip is right Derrick Rose is to blame for last night loss.He had 6 turnovers, and 25 turnovers for the series. When you are the point guard, you can't turn the ball over that much in the playoffs
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Tebow is the most overrated QB in college football history. If he was a QB in the MAC, the best he could do next year is make 3rd team All-conference.
Jeff (Richmond,KY)
Tebow is a good COLLEGE quarterback, I don't see him doing a whole lot on Sundays there are too many other quarterbacks who are miles ahead of him
Jay ( Houston )
It really seems as if ESPN and guests are taking the biased approach on the Howard situation... An athlete gets charged with a DWI and you blow it up! Please don't treat Howard any different, our kids are watching! A man of his size could kill someone with an elbow like that.
Moderator (11:22 AM)
Kill someone Jay?? Serious? You think he could have killed someone wtih that elbow last night? You want us to equate that elbow with DWI??
Matt (Laramie, WY)
I am getting no love today being posted, some days it is really good others it is not... today it is not!
Moderator (11:22 AM)
such is life, Matt, wipe the tears and get back in the game
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Bradford, Tebow, MCCoy-Forget all of them, Jevan Sneed will be the first QB taken next year.
Cody (Indiana)
I like this Moderator.
Moderator (11:24 AM)
I like him too
Aaron (Denver)
Tebow is missing one component which truly makes the Wildcat go, SPEED. He has to be a threat on the edge and I simply do not see it.
Anthony: Marina, CA
I am appalled at Skip Bayless' take on the education of young athletes! It is all we as educators can do to keep our students on-task and realizing their future depends on their education. Jalen is 100% correct and an education is the ONLY thing that lasts a lifetime!
Moderator (11:26 AM)
plays of the week coming up in a few minutes with a baseball write-in vote...
Mike (Indy)
Is anyone else had enough of Stan Van Gundy?
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
To moderator: my problem isn't whether I get posted or not, it is trying to figure out why which ones are posted and which aren't. It seems to me that my meaningful comments aren't posted but my most obvious are. Seems it should be the otherway around.
Moderator (11:28 AM)
its a riddle wrapped inside an enigma...but it keeps you all on your toes...more often than not, though, its just like lottery luck what gets posted...lot of traffice here, we try to keep it diverse, succinct, a little funny - of interest to the readers...
Tyler: Norwalk, CT
ovechkins goal is bananas. He took the rangers to school, class is in session!! Skip give em a 10.
Pat (Denver, CO)
the only person who hasnt heard enough of Stan is Stan
Michael (Jackson, MS)
Anybody who thinks they'd pass up on a couple million dollars to play basketball obviously grew up with a silver spoon in their mouth and doesn't have any idea what it's like to have to struggle to make it. What if the kid tore his knee up during his senior year? This argument makes no sense to me.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
If the baseball write-in is the steal of home, I'm going to hurl.
Moderator (11:29 AM)
get your barf bag ready, Johnny
Matt(New Britain,CT)
could the write-in be jacoby's steal of home? in that case it gets a 100 out of 10,amazing!!!!
Cody (Dallas)
Why is chris paul not getting any scrutny for choking in the playoffs? Billups is tearing him up.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Lol, Skip just laid the smackdown on Tommy Smyth
Donny (Boston)
Gotta love Melrose!
Tony (Lawrence, KS)
the soccer goal, though cool, was lucky. 8
Pat (Chicago)
I love his accent.
Bernie, San Diego
Johnny must be a hockey fan and not appreciate baseball...stealing home is sick!!
Ryan (wimberley)
This is for skip... Hey skipper you remind me soo much of Simon Cowell from American Idol.... Dude come on sometimes your right and sometimes your wrong
Bernie, San Diego
Give him the Onion Bag!!!
Calvin W
Cristiano Ronaldo was the best soccer goal for the week. His goal against Hotspur was better than that weak one that was shown. Ronaldo even took his shirt off after he scored. He gets bonus points for that.
Michael Kim (11:41 AM)
Jacoby's steal of home was clearly the Play of the Week in baseball but we're getting a lot of feedback about it being the best play of the season. It's not. That belongs to Cubs OF Reed Johnson robbing Prince Fielder of a grand slam.
Moderator (11:41 AM)
why does he get points for taking his shirt off??? He'd get a yellow flag for doing that in American football, not points
Matt (Laramie, WY)
Where is the write in?
Moderator (11:42 AM)
cancelled due to lack of a consensus...but feel free to mention your write in on the chat
Aaron (Denver)
Onion Bag, somebody better start using that gem on Sportscenter
Tony (Lawrence, KS)
Ovechkin's goal was digusting-10
Scott (Jacksonville,FL)
Howard threw an elbow, but Rondo drew blood. They both should be suspended for a game.
Winslow (Greeley, CO)
Dhantay Jones is in Paul's head.
CHipperjones spring lake Mi
hey boys and girls just want to let you in on a little secret. the best qB in land by the end of season won't be down south it will be right her in east lansing. Keith Nichol remember the name
Elisse (Michigan)
I agree with Jalen on the education issue. This kid is 16 or 17 years old. He needs to finish HS, AT LEAST. Then he can do what he wants, especially if he is talented. If he gets injured in the future, at least his HS diploma is something to build on. Also, education is IMPORTANT. Money is not everything. Knowledge is power and allows you to protect yourself.
Jalen (11:45 AM)
I practice what I preach, I got my HS AND college diploma.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Tim Tebow couldn't throw a football into the soccer onion bag.
Cody (Indiana)
Where was the right in?
Michael Kim (11:45 AM)
What's wrong with me today? First, I give props to Tony the Beaker (Kansas Jayhawks fan), Sorry, Tony. Then, I give a Cubs OF the play of the year. I need Pujols to do something spectacular before the season is over. Maybe Ankiel throwing from the warning track again.
Steve (Austin)
If Ovechkin tried that against Detroit's Lidstrom or Cronwell, he'd have had the puck stolen (Lidstrom) or he'd be on his keester (Cronwell).
Cody (shaftsbury, vt)
The Steal of hom gets a 8.5, but jacoby elsburry only gets a 5. He's fast and he had the guts to go, but he should have been out by a mile. Poor defense
Will (WV)
The world of baseball was robbed today! Ellsbury made a classy play under a big spotlight! It electrified the stadium...how much better does it get..and did we mention it was against the yanks!!!
Michael Kim (11:48 AM)
BTW, Tony in Lawrence... We have the Henry brothers coming up on tomorrow's show. I guess Norm Stewart should have recruited Carl Henry back in the day!
Kerry (Cleveland, OH)
I am a huge baseball fan but Ovechkin would have made Detroit's defense look just as bad...
Bernie, San Diego
Steve, you cant knock the guy for the defenders...it was a playoff play and the game winner...no more Haterade for you this morning...
AWAYNE (INDY)
Ovechkin goal in the playoffs, trumps anything that happens in an April baseball game.
Donny (Boston)
jacoby only gets a 5? out by a mile? I think someone has been hangin out with stan van gundy too much
Pat (Denver, CO)
Steve, he shredded the defense and had a man on his back where is the love?
Tom (River North)
The best series of the next round is going to be Ducks-Red Wings. Caps-Pens will get all the hype, but that series has the last to Cup winners and both of them looked really good in the first round.
Cody (Indiana)
I wish I had Amy's contacts in my phone. She seems to be able to text everyone.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Jalen, you're the man and a class act.
Kerry (Cleveland, OH)
Jalen, was wondering if you went back and finished, CONGRATS!!!
Michael Kim (11:50 AM)
Tom... It's a shame these aren't the conference FINALS instead of semifinals!
Bart (Niles,Mi)
Why wont espn post my comments
Moderator (11:50 AM)
someoen please tell Bart there's no crying on First Take
Tony (Lawrence, KS)
This will be a good show. Too bad Stormin' Norman couldn't get the job done, not!
*Lew* Chicago
Jalen keep doing what you doing! You bring knowledge often when i see you on the tube.
Michael Kim (11:52 AM)
Ouch, Tony.
Michael (Jackson, MS)
Elisse, if he lives in about 70% of our country, he won't make $2 million in his entire lifetime with his HS diploma. You obviously don't live in one of these areas and therefore can't understand.
Tony (Lawrence, KS)
Tom, I am with you on the Ducks-Red Wings match-up. Didn't Melrose call that upset?
Travis (Pontiac, IL)
favre asking for his release from the jets could have been to leave an opening to sign the ceremonial 1-day contract to retire as a packer. this is a perspective i've yet to hear on ESPN. players do this all the time when they spend most of their career with one team and then get traded or otherwise change teams late in their careers.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Let's keep the Laker's play in perspective. They've only lost one game in Utah (and had a shot to tie/win). Utah has been a tough place to win. Like the Cavs they're getting plenty of time to rest. Particularly helpful trying to get Bynum back into playing shape.
Steve (Austin)
Don't get me wrong, Ovechkin is a great player, but sometimes it's who you are up against. The Rangers looked amateurish on that play. Ovechkin was good enough to take advantage of that.
Kevin (El Paso)
Michael Kim is the man! He's got mad skills balancing on air segments and chatting online..haha
Paul (Palm Beach Fl.)
Bart there is no crying on First Take :)
Ryan (Wimberley)
Steve: Ovechkin can do just about anything he wants, he would school Lidstrom and even if Cronwell put him on his "keester" he still make the shot, get real
Michael (Jackson, MS)
Bart, you have to send comments that are a little thoughtful and not disrespectful. There's no crying in sports, much less on First Take.
Moderator (11:55 AM)
Michael, you're a model chatter
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Sam Bradford is so smart in the pocket, and still young, he will be the next Marino
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Tim Tebow will become the first NFL tight end to throw a TD on a double pass.
Tony (Lawrence, KS)
If Tebow brings that motivation to the NFL, he'll make it as a starter somewhere. But he is probably a 2nd round pick at best.
jkein indy
Bradford will be 1st then Colt and Tebow will be last to get picked unless he works out another pos. at combine he would add a sick element to a wildcat offense
Cody Indiana
It will have to be McCoy getting drafted first. McCoy has the accuracy, the most important.
Matt(New Britain,CT)
can't forget that mccoy was the leading rusher for the longhorns,he'll be a weapon in the nfl, would be deserving of a #1 pick
luca (ct) [via mobile]
bradford will. just looks the part. tebows will be a bust. but no one thinks he's an nfl qb
tom nj [via mobile]
Soccer in a sport chat is like kissing yer sister. They aint talking NFL in Liverpool.
Michael Kim (11:55 AM)
Absolutely, Ray... Both teams will be plenty rested come Finals time. I agree with Jalen: Everyone wants to see Lebron vs Kobe.
Moderator (11:56 AM)
I think all they talk about in Liverpool is the Beatles
Bernie, San Diego
Steve, so is Jordan's final shot on Russell not great because he is a weak defender?
Paul (Palm Beach Fl.)
Much Love Skip. You know what you are talking about. Teabow is going to be the real deal in the NFL TOO.
Nate (Jacksonvile)
Luca, if no one thinks Tebow is an NFL QB, how is he going to be a bust?
Chad (Las Vegas)
Have you ever been to Liverpool? All the talk, besides soccer/football is do you remember what we did last night at the pub?
Moderator (11:59 AM)
Chad, they have that convo in Vegas every morning too
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Does Luca still live on the second floor?
Moderator (12:00 PM)
good song Calvin...you got that on 8-track or vinyl?
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Sorry moderator but 8 track was long gone before Luca, cassettes yes, 8 track no.
jkein (indy)

Danny (Tonasket, wa.)
Just between you and me moderator, I am old and 8 track was gone before I was out of college almost 35 years ago while vinyl kept going until the advent of CD's. Even now, if you want to pay the price, you can get new classical vinyl.
Umor (detroit)
Man when y'all talking about 8 tracks and jimmy walker boom boxes it time ti go. see ya.
