Mike Hill (10:48 AM)
What's up...MH signing on...talk to me my people.
Moderator (9:50 AM)
hey gang...would you consider this Celtics/Bulls series the best all time??
Will (WV)
How much more can a sports fan ask for out of a series!? The Bulls/Celtics just set the bar 9not just raised it) for what we should expect out of every playoff game.. other wise...the future rounds might just seem boring!
Umor (detroit mi)
It's an instant classic series. I wish this was the finals. LA vs cavs. isn't gonna be as good as this.
Dana Jacobson (9:57 AM)
morning folks!! TGIF. Got a good show for you here joakim noah, jason terry some of the highlights
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Love the contribution from top-to- bottom; starter-to reserve. Every player on both teams is laying it on the line. Can't ask for more.
wes(hixson,tn)
what's up gang! happy friday! what happened for espn to let stephen a. smith go? love his work and his straight forward appoarch to the hard questions.. love the show keep up the good work!
Moderator (9:58 AM)
Andre Miller said the Magic were a better team than Dwight Howard- do you agree??
Dana Jacobson (9:58 AM)
Wes, stephen a is a great guy. Ill miss him and wish him the best. Check out his website for updates where he'll be
Moderator (9:59 AM)
Are the Rockets better without Tracy McGrady??
Adam G. Tampa, FL
This is the best series I've ever seen! Wow!
Jim (Kalamazoo, MI)
Based on previous rulings (Robert Horry), how can the league NOT suspend Rondo?
dan (buffalo)
was anyone else getting flash backs of the memphis championship game as Rose stepped to the line and missed both free throws?
Mike indianapolis
mike heezy has anyone ever had 19 assist and 0 turnovers like rondo? That is more impressive than 51 by shuttlesworth right?
Chris (Cleveland, OH)
I can't believe the Rockets are better without T-Mac. I think they may need to not run the offense through him though.
Michael Kim (10:07 AM)
Good morning, everyone. Anyone else STUNNED, SHOCKED, ETC. that it's already May 1st?
Steve (INDIANA)
If you just watch the games and ignore the round, this is the greatest playoff series in NBA history.
Mike indianapolis
Are pants better without pockets? you cant discount tmacs value against LA
Moderator (10:07 AM)
I need some time to ponder that 'pants without pockets' analogy
Chris M miami florida
I like the Rockets, they are a better team without Tmac but will they have enough in the tank to give LA a Series?
Christy, AR
I've been glued to the T.V. for every game for the entire series!!! Definitely one of the best series ever!!!
Michael Kim (10:08 AM)
Mike in Indy... Our research department tells me that even if Rondo has 0 pts. and 0 assts in Game 7 but gets ten rebounds. He will avg a triple-double for the series. Amazing.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Now, I don't know about you but this weekend is shaping up to be a perfect storm for sports. Especially on Saturday, things can't better for a fan. Just listen to this line-up on Saturday: Alex vs. Sidney - Pittsburgh Penguins - Washington Capitals (1:00 PM ET), The Kentucky Derby (4:00 PM ET), Game 7 of Boston - Chicago (8:00 PM ET), Manny Pacquiao - Ricky Hatton (9:00 ET). Tomorrow will be sports bliss for me and I can't be happier.
Will (WV)
6 games..7 overtimes...and only 39 points to diffirentiate the ooutcomes! How great is this series!
Will (WV)
DANA...IS SKIP WEARING A HOT PINK SHIRT?!
Jay (Tampa, Fl)
Maybe you guys will talk about rajon rondo throwing hinrich into the scores table then throwing an elbow. Hopefully you guys show the play, Mike and Mike never did. Rondo should be suspended.
Michael Kim (10:09 AM)
Jay... I'm curious what the NBA will say/do about that play, too.
Moderator (10:10 AM)
Dana's trying to read her laptop on the set right now, but that hot pink is making her squint
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
First of all, I'm very thankful to have seen game one of this legendary series in person. Every game (except the game three blowout) has been a war of attrition. It's times like this where I love that the NBA exist.
Will (WV)
Mike....tell Skip to take that hot pink shirt off!
Justin (East Moline, IL)
I think that the Rockets ARE better without Tracy McGrady. I think with Yao plugging the center and Artest covering the remainder of the court, you have all you need. McGrady seems to add another dimension that is unneeded. It almost seems like there is a pressure to give him the ball and to have him make all the shots.
Michael Kim (10:11 AM)
Will in WV... He doesn't know it's pink. How can he? He didn't even see Dwight Howard elbow Dalembert, so you know his vision is off.
Matt(New Britain,CT)
it is one of the best series, unquestionable
Scott (Colorado Springs)
Skip/Jalen Do you think all of these overtimes will hurt whoever wins game 7 in the next round?
Michael Kim (10:12 AM)
Scott in Colo Springs... Don't know what Skip and Jalen think... But yes is the answer. They'll be worn out and Dwight Howard's suspension may actually turn out to be a good thing in terms of rest for the next series.
Will (WV)
Wardrobe check in the ESPN studios!
Will (WV)
Skips hot pink shirt is way out of line...I am wearing sunglasses in order to block it out and enjoy the show!
James (Colorado Springs, CO)
The Rockets are better with Tracy McGrady. He came into the year out of shape and has never lived up to his potention. Ron Artest has picked up his slack and made the team decent. Funny to think Artest was the "questionable" move.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
ULTIMATE SPORTS WEEKEND!!
Moderator (10:13 AM)
other than the 'potention' line...well said, James
Michael Kim (10:14 AM)
Adam -- I wrote my opening line into my update saying the same! BIG BIG weekend.
John, Austin
The Rockets are a better TEAM without TMac but they still don't have enough to get by the Lakers...this year.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Michael Kim J Kidd vs. Chauncey once again!
Dana Jacobson (10:14 AM)
i wonder if tomorrow should be the greatest sports day of hte year?
*Lew* Chicago
Skippy may be wrong quite often, but don't sleep on the pink shirts. Woman love that. i give him props for having the stones to pull it off, but he is still not cool lol
Dana Jacobson (10:14 AM)
will yes skip is wearing pink...and it looks good!
Michael Kim (10:15 AM)
Adam, how 'bout that, huh? I lean toward Billups and Denver.
Josh (Boston, MA)
Are we serious about calling this Bulls/Celtics series one of the best ever? I would sum up the matchup with one word - annoying. The games have been close and have had ridiculous endings, but they've also been horrible. You have two mediocre offenses that run one poorly executed pick-n-roll after another and two defenses that without Garnett are playing sloppy, unintelligent and inconsistent. I can't wait for this series to be over so we can all watch better basketball.
Will (South Philly)
does anybody outside of the "heartland" care about the derby i dont
wes(hixson,tn)
this is a awesome series between the bulls/celtics,but the best ever...what about the celtics/suns series from the 70's...think it as '76...
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Lance, awesome sports weekend. Hopefully you can add another Tiger-Phil duel this weekend.
Moderator (10:16 AM)
nice add-on, Ray
James Denver
Men werar salmon not pink thats salmon colored shirt.
Aaron (Denver)
Does Josh from Boston get banned for that statement?
Michael Kim (10:20 AM)
Ray, you're trying to steal my thunder. I had that in my lead into Hatton-Pacquiao.
John, Austin
Dana, what's the deal with Selena Roberts? Is she a former ARod girlfriend or something because she sure is emptying his closet like one.
Moderator (10:21 AM)
Josh gets props for seeing the forest through the trees, not a homer opinion, thats for sure
Ray (Arlington, VA)
KY derby is tradition. You have to watch it. Not to mention horseracing like baseball is a great national pastime that also has condoned steroids/PED's for a long time.
Jake (Chcago)
Well Josh (Boston), the beauty of this series is you have two teams that have battled to 7 total OTs...two of the most storied franchises in NBA history, a team coming off a championship with their windown closing and an up-and-coming team who is trying to mke a name for itself with the ROY. Is it the best basketball ever, but the storylines make it a series to remember. Hate all you want...
Moderator (10:21 AM)
good counterpoint Jake...
Mike indianapolis
Men dont even eat salmon let alone wear it Skip step ya game up
Dana Jacobson (10:22 AM)
John, would you ask the same question if this was a guy doing the story? Was he an old buddy that's angry? Come on now! Selena is an excellent journalist. She did investigative work over time to get to the bottom of a story. When Mark and Lance did their bonds stuff in San Fran if people wondered if they had an ax to grind I would have said the same thing. This is her job, what she's supposed to do
Moderator (10:22 AM)
why don't men eat salmon?? Never heard that one before
Christy, AR
I could care less about the derby! There are way better sporting events to watch!
Moderator (10:23 AM)
gotta watch and its like 5 minutes of your day - no need to watch more than that if you dont want!! but you should...its fun great stories
James Denver
Randy Moss looks different in off season.
Justin (East Moline, IL)
I think the only time that horse racing ever has the media in an uproar is when a horse is in contention for the Triple Crown.
Michael Kim (10:24 AM)
Shouldn't Randy Moss be talking about a Derby favorite named "Straight Cash Homey"?
Christy, AR
This is true! I suppose I could take the 5 min. to watch so that I can truthfully way that I'm an equal oppurtunity sports fan! lol
Will (South Philly)
moderator dont condone jake's statements josh is right these are two avg teams who have no shot at a chip get this series over with and bring on real basketball
Mike (Ohio)
Yeah, no big A-Rod fan here but it appears that Selena Roberts has an agenda here (aside from trying to sell a book). He must've turned her down or something
Dana Jacobson (10:28 AM)
Mike, seriously that's what you think?? I ask the same question...if she were a guy what's the reason. I know you men all have egos but believe it or not women are able to work in sports and not want to date the men they cover. trust me
Justin (East Moline, IL)
If the horse Dunkirk doesn't win the derby, do you then question the owner and his reasoning for spending over 3 million on a horse in this struggling economy?
Dana Jacobson (10:29 AM)
Justin, if he's spending it he has it to spend...and doesn't that mean it's stimulating the economy
Aaron (Denver)
Dana, I don't doubt Selena's credentials, but every excerpt we hear makes this book sound like a tabloid expose.
Dana Jacobson (10:30 AM)
Aaron, I think we should all wait to judge..the book on balco sounded the same way people just weren't sick of it yet.
*Lew* Chicago
Why didn't an average Philly team beat a Orlando without it's star player??
Dana Jacobson (10:31 AM)
lew, because the magic wanted it more...they were inspired to prove they could win it without howard and guys who rarely have a role took pride in having one
Dana Jacobson (10:31 AM)
lew, because the magic wanted it more...they were inspired to prove they could win it without howard and guys who rarely have a role took pride in having one
Jarred (Atlanta)
I can't put the Celts-Bulls series as the best all-time. Just as Jalen said earlier, it's just a first-round series. Don't get me wrong, it is one of the most ENTERTAINING AND JAW DROPPING series I have ever seen, but I need it to be a Conference Final or NBA Final to propel it to that upper eschelon.
Dana Jacobson (10:32 AM)
Jarred I agree...I think you need to see how the rest of this postseason goes. If this remains the best series it will get more love. was out your way last weekend at the Inman Park festival.. Awesome weekend.
Mike (Ohio)
No Dana, that's not how I meant it. I respect women who work in sports. I just feel like she has an agenda here.
Dana Jacobson (10:34 AM)
good to know Mike. I don't think there's an agenda other than knowing that Arod was the highest paid player in baseball and seen as a golden boy. What she and others heard was that he wasn't so innocent. She's being a watchdog in a sense which is what the media is supposed to be. I just think that people are so sick of steroids (I'm one of them) that a book on anyone right now would be too much
John, Austin
Dana, I apologize, I was being a bit sexist but man or woman, I have a problem with writing an entire book attacking one particular athlete. But I guess we are a TMZ-type society.
Dana Jacobson (10:35 AM)
John, sorry I had to call you out on that. happens all the time and you're not the only one saying it. As a woman in sports, I just take offense to that. Its a tough double standard out there we all battle every day. It's just the way of the world, I get that. We all do it. I even do it sometimes and it's not fair. Thanks for keeping an open mind. AND yes we are a tabloid society!!!
Justin (East Moline, IL)
Doesn't anyone who puts out some sort of publication about steroids have an agenda? Jose Canseco obviously had an agenda when he put out his book. She probably has an agenda, but so does anyone else who does what she and Jose have done. I won't discredit her, however, if what she says is true and since it's about A-Rod, I wouldn't be surprised.
Dana Jacobson (10:36 AM)
Justin, Jose's agenda is money. That may be Selena's too...but I don't think it's fair to say it's because he turned her down. I like to believe there are journalists out there that do stories/books that interest them still. Im a hopeless romantic what can I tell you.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
If Selena was a man, from the excerpts I have heard (need to read the book), I would still say she has an axe of some kind to grind or is out just for money becauses it seems it is just allegations without any documentation to back it up.
Dana Jacobson (10:37 AM)
Danny, you're entitled to that opinion. Well we're all entitled to every opinion. I just hate, like I said, when men say it's b/c she got turned down by him.
Adam G. Tampa , FL
The Bulls will be a team to be reckoned with for a long time all of their starters have chamionship experience Noah with the Gators, Heinrich with the Jayhawks, Gordon with UConn, Rose with Memphis, Tyrus Thomas with LSU!
Michael (Jackson, MS)
All you guys who are talking about how Boston doesn't have a chance need to think about last year. This years Bulls are a lot better than last years Hawks.
Steve (INDIANA)
Also, I know it is on the back burner, but you also have the ALCS rematch between Tampa Bay and Boston.
Tyler ( Philly )
I wasn't a fan of the ponys until I had a chance to go to the Derby about five years ago... If you like to party then that's the place to be. You rub elbows with people from all walks of life and they all get along!
Justin (East Moline, IL)
I guess my thought process is that if I have 3 million dollars to spend, wouldn't I want to put somewhere that is less high risk as horse racing?
Scott (Colorado Springs)
Paul Pierce got out ran by a 7 foot center. That is a sign that he is getting old and if they don't make it this year, their run is over like the Spurs. The Nuggets and Bulls will be making the run to the championship for the next couple of years.
Mike (Ohio)
I agree with Tyler. A visit to the infield at the Derby is one of those "must have" experiences of any sports fan.
Michael (Jackson, MS)
Adam, I agree completely. As a Hornets fan, I wish we had the future that it seems that the baby Bulls will have. Dear Hornets Executive Management Team, please ship everyone out of town except CP3 and David West.
Dee (Tampa, FL)
Boston has disappointed me(except Ray 51 points), as defending champs they can't even take care of Chicago. If they even make past The Bulls in game in 7 they are clearly not ready for the rest of the playoffs.
Aaron (Denver)
Scott did you forget Cleveland and Oralndo?
James (Suffolk, VA)
I think what we are all missing here is that if Arod had not put himself out there like that, then we would not even be debating what Selena's intentions are.
Scott (Colorado Springs)
Aaron those are no brainers. I just mean the Nuggets and Bulls will be making runs, I don't know if they will get passed Cleveland or Orlando.
Drew Ashton shelby Twp. Mi
The bulls and Celtics series is by far the most exciting series ive ever seen since watching the celtics and pistons in 89. The toughness of both teams is unparallel. Great series
Matt (Laramie, WY
"I have been in the stands before" one of the greatest comments in a press conference ever.
Scott (Colorado Springs)
HAHAHA... The only person that would think the Magic are better with out Dwight Howard is the person that took his place while he was out. ???
James (Chicago)
I agree with Lew, also from Chi-town. If Philly could not beat Orlando without Howard, and arguably Orlando's second-best player (based on the way he has been playing in the playoffs) Courtney Lee, then they did not deserve to win. I don't mean to sound harsh, but this is the playoffs if you are not hungry you go home. Period.
Dana Jacobson (10:53 AM)
so jalen and I are reminiscing about cedar point out here. he went the day after prom and when we did the xavier henry tease about prom he brought it up. ohio/michigan folks - isn't cedar point the best???!!!!
Sean (Orlando)
What effect do you think the 7 games and 7 OT's will have on either Chicago or Boston in the next round?
Dana Jacobson (10:54 AM)
sean, i'm asking jalen he says huge...flat either team. definite hang over effect, couple games to get back in it. And jalen agrees with me that it will be worse for celtics cause their depth is gone
Tony (Alexandria, VA)
Where is the love for Ovechkin and Crosby??? Enough with the NBA playoffs show some love for the NHL
Dana Jacobson (10:55 AM)
Tony, in fairness we tried to get ovechkin and crosby for interviews...limited times and we got bumped by sports center from what I understand who had em yesterday. Sorry...
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Sean, Chicago being younger would probably affect them less but it has got to take its toll, legs have got to be tired.
Aaron (Denver)
Dana Ceder Point is a blast. You can see Canada from the top of the Magnum!
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Dana since you and Jalen are reminiscing, how about the Brown Jug in Ann Arbor? You guys spend any time there? :-)
Dana Jacobson (10:56 AM)
Ray, both jalen and I have frequented the jug. in our day it was a post going out spot..now at least from what i understand it's a going out spot
Sean (Orlando)
Dana do you think given that effect, if Orlando comes out strong they could sweep either team?
Jon (Mad-town)
Which team will overpay to sign Ben Gordon this offseason?
Dana Jacobson (10:57 AM)
Sean, quite possibly but like jalen i think in a couple games time not a problem...even one may be enough
Mike (Ohio)
It's already taken it's toll. Look at how slow Pearce was in trying to chase down Noah.
Umor (detroit mi)
Cedar point is great I went my whole family and all my neices and nephews went with me 9 kids. we went on all the costers. Even got a picture of us on that wooden coaster they have.
Dana Jacobson (10:57 AM)
umor - that's the gemini!!!!!!
Justin (East Moline, IL)
NFL Mini Camps are starting up around the country. What team (besides the Lions obviously) have the most pressure on them to perform?
Dana Jacobson (10:58 AM)
Justin, jets have pressure at the qb post. eagles maybe b/c a lot of folks are high on them. bears with cutler coming in
david (charlotte,nc)
Dana...by the way the front page of espn.com doesn't show the "your take logo" to click on... the logo was there before, but not anymore... I had to call customer service and nobody there could find it either...had to re-direct me to sportsnation
Dana Jacobson (10:59 AM)
David, thanks. apologies we'll change how we tease it, we didn't know
Tony (Alexandria, VA)
Easily Ovechkin... How many MVP's does Crosby have...0!!!! And I am going to love when Ovechkin beats Crosby and Don Cherry is complaining about Ovechkin's celebrations.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Gordon to the Knicks to play in D Antoni's system Wade, Chicago native to sign with the young Bulls!
Moderator (11:02 AM)
Jon...Well, in college he was Ben "Garden", as in Madison Square, as in Big East Tourney stud...so the Knicks might be itchy to overpay
Aaron (Denver)
Knicks...overpay...never
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
No one's over-paying in this economy and no one's using cap space saved for 2010 in 2009. Ben Gordon will stay in Chicago.
E.C. (Crofton, KY)
What's up with Rondo?! How is he not getting HAMMERED by Skip? The last two games, he's committed two OBVIOUS flagrant fouls yet.. It's okay... BOOO!
Mike indianapolis
celtics in 7
Jessie (West Chester Pa.)
I understand Crosby has skills but come on... He's the most overrated player in the game. E.Malkin is the best Pen and the best player in the league is Ovechkin. Hands down Crosby is the biggest baby in the game, half the players in the game will agree with that.
Aaron (Denver)
Nyjer just earned himself another interview he is solid
Mike indianapolis
Rondo had 19 assist and 0 turnovers thats enough to keep skips mouth shut
Aaron (Denver)
Love and shocked by Skip's honesty on game 7
*Lew* Chicago
We are DOOMED now!!! Why did Skip pick the BULLLS!
Dana Jacobson (11:13 AM)
for all who asked, there you got skip on rondo
Mike Hill (11:13 AM)
o.k...finally logged on...my opinion...Rondo should be suspended for game 7....throw a punch...suspended...throw an elbow...suspended...if they can do it to Dwight Howard...they can do it to Rajon Rondo....good luck with Steph at the point.
Christy, AR
Rondo is not a dirty player!!! He got caught up in the emotion of the games!!
Dee (Tampa, FL)
I'm tired of everyone getting on Rondo's case. Rajon Rondo is playing basketball, sure he has done some dirty things but i know he isn't the only one.
Tony (VA)
THANK YOU JESSIE!!! I couldnt agree more. CROSBY=OVERRATED
David (Charlotte via Wade County)
Josh Smith and the rest of the Hawks have gotten themselves into trouble with all of their celebration... D-Wade is great, but he is the MJ type of player who will take ANYTHING and use it to his mental advantage... when he plays angry, WATCH OUT!
Drew (Buffalo)
Someone from West Chester hating Crosby? No way!!!!!! And Crosby is not overrated. He's one of the best players in the league. His team consistently wins and he consistently performs. NOT OVERRATED.
Adam Y. (Richmond, VA)
Bulls SHOULD have a huge advantage going into the final game, as Rondo SHOULD be suspended. We've seen a dirty play against Brad Miller, and then we've seen him throw Henrich into the scorer's table. If it was Ron Artest committing these fouls, he would have been ejected in a hurry. Why is Rondo still in the game at this point?
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
I wish Rajon Rondo played in the 1980's only to see what he could do to match Kevin McHale's clothesline on Kurt Rambis.
Mike Hill (11:16 AM)
bout to talk NFL...that's MY THANG!
Moderator (11:16 AM)
do we care that Kobe's jersey tops the NBA merchandise list?
Scott (Colorado Springs)
I agree with Jalen. If Yao Ming was trying to do that Dunk then we have an issue. Heat gave up on that game and now they are looking for any fuel for the fire in the next game.
Mike Hill (11:17 AM)
Mike...I'm still running from Damien Woody for that...not my fault...not my trivia questions!! LOL
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Here's a message to the Miami Heat and even to the great Dwyane Wade. You want to point out Josh Smith's unsportsmanlike play? Here's an idea, don't play flat in the game and lose at half-time.
DAVID (CHARLOTTE VIA WADE COUNTY)
i agree with adam.... if rondo wasnt on the celtics who the league considers the face of the league to some degree, and it wasn't the world champs....wouldn't rondo have had some type punishment by now?
Kevin (El Paso)
I could care less about jersey sales.
E.C. (Kentucky)
Well done, SKIP.. *didn't agree with the Stockton comment... Mike Hill: Yes, Yes, yes!
Jefe(Chicago,Il)
i told u i liked mike hill
Tony(Alexandria, VA)
I love how Brashear gets suspended for 6 games 5 of them by means of a "Late, Cheap hit" and Rondo doesnt get one for 2 starts games of cheap shots... NBA ur slacking
Aaron (Denver)
Ryan and Flacco's success is going to up the pressure on Stafford and Sanchez
Dana Jacobson (11:24 AM)
Tony, I'll say this...hockey allows more contact obviously and fighting...but when they hand down a punishment, they hand it down.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Kobe is a bigger global brand than LeBron. Period. Did you see how he was mobbed in China at the Olympics?
Brian (Philly)
Mike, I agree let's talk some NFL. Do you think Maclin can be that No. 1 receiver in 2 or 3 years that my Eagles desperately need?
Dana Jacobson (11:24 AM)
Brian, I know you asked mike but i'll say for donovan's sake...he better be!!!
phil, tampa fla
skip do you think a like kansas city royals should take a chance on barry bonds
Dana Jacobson (11:25 AM)
phil, if you're still here i wanted to ask skip this but haven't had a chance. wouldn't that be interesting. i think based on what skip has said b/f he would say do it. i'd say do it...truly.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
I think the Josh Smith dunk attempt in the 4th quarter was unsportsmanlike. But did anyone see him almost dunk on 2 Heat's one being Jermaine O'Neal at the same time? That would have been crazy.
LJ (West Chester, PA)
The Ellis Hobbs pickup could be huge for the Eagles. With four starting quality cornerbacks, Quintin Mikell and Sean Jones at the safety positions and the youth and experience in the front seven, the Eagles defense could be better than last year. With all the additions on offense, and Maclin pairing with DeSean Jakcson and Brian Westbrook, this team has a chance to get back to the NFC Championship game and to the Super Bowl.
James Denver
Thats what I hate about motivation debate if Miami wins you will all say Josh Smith motivated them if they loose like Hornets the other day after Denver embarrassed them by 58 and JR Smith was still jacking 3s it wont get mentioned if they loose.
Dana Jacobson (11:26 AM)
LJ I defintely think that had a good draft - really drafted for need. we'll see if the guys pay off.
Dee (Tampa, FL)
I see we have a Kobe Bryant subject coming up & honestly i'm sick of it. All I hear is Kobe Kobe Kobe, they better win the playoffs just like they were suppose to last year. The Lakers even though they had the second best record...are overrated. I hope The Nuggets Or Dallas take them down!
Kevin (El Paso)
I think Detroit would be better off moving Ernie Sims to MLB. He seams to be the only leader of their defense.
Will (WV)
I have Kobe jersey that was given to me and I use it as a mop! I could care less about that jersey topping the merchandise list.
Aaron (Denver)
Isn't that why the Mamba changed his number? No we don't care
*Lew* Chicago
Not really. Jersey sales don't equal rings.
Dana Jacobson (11:27 AM)
Kevin they seem open to switching some guys around, interesting thought. he's definitely their leader, or should be
Aaron (Denver)
Anyone know the details of the pre-draft Bears talks with the Cardinals for Boldin?
Dana Jacobson (11:28 AM)
Aaron, I don't. BUT i'll say this, not sure which day NFC west blogger, mike sando i think does his chats but those are always chock full of info. he'll know. or even seifert with the nfc north
Dee (Tampa, FL)
Dana how much noise do you think The Dallas Cowgirls...i meant The Cowboys will make this upcoming season???
Will (South Philly)
is there a chatroom where i can bash skip and get it posted? im not talking bout his shirt or his hair im talking bout his old school/ out dated views
Dana Jacobson (11:28 AM)
Dee, wasn't a fan of their draft and we need to see what roy williams will do. i'm not on the boys bandwagon this year
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Phil--The Barry of a couple of years ago, yes. I don't think that Barry's body would take a season anymore, even as a DH
Moderator (11:28 AM)
old school and outdated??? Earlier this week, Skip defended a high school junior going to play pro ball in Europe instead of going to college!
Dana Jacobson (11:29 AM)
Danny, if you see where you are, wait till 2nd half of the season, I think he could no doubt
Jarred (Atlanta)
The Celtics-Bulls series is just a confirmation of the motto of these 2009 playoffs: "Where Amazing Happens".
Mike (Ohio)
Makes no difference to me whose NBA jersey sells the most. I don't own one anyway.
Matt(New Britain,CT)
how about who cares? for the jersey question. if a player really cared about it,then they would be full of themselves
Aaron (Denver)
Dee...Lakers overrated...name a weakness?
Will (South Philly)
Boldin you are such a pro, respect is due. we always bash and breakdown people lets give him credit for how he has handled his situation
Dana Jacobson (11:30 AM)
Will, totally agree with you! he's said I want out but he's more than handled business and done his job. i'm not a fan of the i want out stance when you have a contract...but i can respect the way he's aaid it and for the most part moved on.
Aaron (Denver)
Thanks Dana...I'll check it out
Dana Jacobson (11:31 AM)
Aaron, if you are on the sportsnation page on dot com, click on chats. they have the days of the week. it'll show who is when. those bloggers do a nice job!
Dana Jacobson (11:31 AM)
gotta go get set for a jason terry interview back shortly folks
Chizzie Thornton, Co
I would welcome Boldin on the Colts anyday. Manning would be drooling at the mouth with him in the lineup. Think about it. Manning would have Wayne, Gonzales, Boldin and Clark to throw to.
Gino (Scranton, PA)
I'm glad Doug Mientkiewicz is sticking up for A-Rod because I'm really hoping that Selena is wrong in her book. If it is true, than his legacy is just competely shot.
Paul (Denver)
Aaron- the only thing I heard was the Bears were offering their #49 pick, but no other details about other picks or players involved. I'd imagine the Cards asked for Briggs, and Angelo said not in your dreams.
Dana Jacobson (11:35 AM)
Aaron, i'll follow with the only team that seemed to be in serious talk were the ravens at one point
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
No matter what happens tomorrow night, win or lose, this was a win/win series for this young Bulls team.
Dana Jacobson (11:36 AM)
Steve, only if they follow it up next year with improvement.
David (charlotte via wade county)
just a quick comment about the NBA MVP... obviously LBJ is going to get it...but if we look at the playoff results and project the next round results... tell me the Cavs couldn't have beaten the Pistons without LeBron... now tell me what happens when the Heat lost D-Wade... the Cavs could beat the Heat or Hawks in round 2 without LeBron too....as much as I love the Heat, it's reality....Wade's season was unbelieveable and he still gets no love besides from Skip with his backhanded compliments
Dana Jacobson (11:36 AM)
That was impressive Aaron but BEST MOMENT IN BULLS PLAYOFFS HISTORY?? I don't know...this is a team that's won 6 titles....how bout Jordan's last shot vs Utah?
Dana Jacobson (11:37 AM)
David, wade got love but it was second to lebron and sometimes third to kobe. that team wouldnt be where it is without him
wes(hixson,tn)
hatton wins by a fourth round knockout....book it...
Tony (VA)
Chizzie... I love the thought of Boldin going to INDY!!! I LOVE THE COLTS!!! That lineup would just b SICK
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Kobe vs. Artest what a match up. Reminds me of Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan.
Mike indianapolis
No we dont want or need Boldin he talks to much when was the last time you heard a colt player besides peyton talk this is an institution that why we win 12 every year he could never fall in line and reggie is peytons guy.
Tristan Pierce (Palm Bay, FL)
I don't think many teams wouldnt want Boldin
Kevin (El Paso)
I still got Hatton in six rounds.
tom nj [via mobile]
Basketball. 7 foot men with 4 foot arms stuff ball in hole 10 ft. 6 high.Wow! raise net to 12 ft. Make it a shooters game again. love them shooters and posession receivers. they catch the ball! How novel!
Dana Jacobson (11:38 AM)
for those emailing in about bashing people...im not posting a bashing comment when a guy can't respond. i wouldn't want someone to do it about me unless they were going to defend me . if you disagree with a comment skip makes and make a point, we post it. the idea is to have discussion and debate. if you want to tell me my opinion is outdated and tell me why go ahead i'll post it...or even someone elses but don't just say that's a dumb or stupid opinion.
Chizzie Thornton, Co
Dana as an non Nuggets fan, Whats your take on Chris "Birdman" Andersen?
Dana Jacobson (11:39 AM)
chizzie - great hair
TONY(VA)
Ne love coming for NASCAR at Richmond tomorrow night. DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA. Last year ended with Kyle Busch putting the OVERRATED JR. In the wall
Dana Jacobson (11:39 AM)
Tony it did get shafted today sorry
Michael Kim (11:39 AM)
Who on the board thinks Hatton wins this fight?
Matt(New Britain,CT)
like all hyped up boxing bouts,it will be a letdown
John, Austin
Would Luol Deng have helped the Bulls this series or not? Or have they found a formula without him?
Michael Kim (11:40 AM)
I think Pacquaio wins and sets up a Pacquaio-Mayweather megafight.
Moderator (11:40 AM)
it seems every team has a star on the shelf this year
Aaron (Denver)
Dana,I am NOT saying best play in Bulls playoff history...I agree with Jordan's steal/shot but I loved the "Flu Game"
*Lew* Chicago
Best moment in BULLS playoff history and best indivdual performance in sports history. Game 5 vs Utah "97". The sick game. Series tied and Jordan was so sick you could see it on televison it was no fake job. He scored 15 of his 38 in the fourth quarter to take it!
Dee (Tampa, FL)
Hey Tristan my St.Louis Rams need a receiver like Boldin!!!
David (charlotte via wade county)
people seem to forget that we already saw the "baby bulls" a few years ago... they had the high expectations...but like dana said, it's about following it up with improvement...that baby bulls team went to crap...
Eric (Omaha)
Remember a while back when the 1st and 10 crew argued about what was more exciting, March Madness or the NBA Playoffs? I am going to have to agree with Skip on this one. Don't get me wrong, I love college basketball, but watching the Bulls and Celtics go into 4 overtime games out of 6 total is just simply amazing.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Talking Football, How many out there think the Warner Cardinals season was a fluke of their bad division and getting hot but they will be back to "normal" this season?
Michael (Jackson, MS)
Why would any decent WR want to go play in Baltimore?
Adam G. Tampa, FL
The Lakers weakness is at the point guard position. Wait til the Nuggets come to town and exploit D Fish.
Michael Kim (11:42 AM)
Eric, I have to say that this year it's no contest. The NBA with a convincing knockout over March Madness.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Manny wins. He's campaigning for his next Presidential run in the Philippines. All Obama had to do was shoot hoops and avoid bowling.
Michael Kim (11:43 AM)
Ray, that's funny! He would win if he runs.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Money Mayweather and Pacquaio will be the pound for pound fight of the year Michael.
Mike Hill (11:43 AM)
I'm taking Pac man in, what should be, a very entertaining, hard fought fight. Pacman is too fast but Hatton won't back down...plus, I want to see Pac and Floyd get it on.
Chizzie Thornton, Co
Jason Terry is good, but, I think JR Smith should've gotten the 6th man award
Mike indianapolis
Whoever wins money mayweather will destroy he is rested we all know how he trains and his hands are healthy. He is the best defensive fighter mu generation or any has ever seen you cant hit him and even though his ego is huge he always backs it up good luck to manny and ricky but a pretty boy fight will just be a payday.
Aaron (Denver)
I completely agree with Rafeal, and want his job. Hatton is a stud at 140...but Manny is a freak of activity. Pending on how Manny's power holds at this weight will tell a big story.
Will (South Philly)
Michael Kim wrong again hatton, no question maybe even a 10th rd k.o.
Michael (Jackson, MS)
Denver seriously better watch out for Dallas. There's no way Denver can shoot in another series the way they did against the Hornets, and Dallas is as hot right now as anyone. I think I'll take Dallas in 6.
Michael Kim (11:45 AM)
Will... If Hatton wins, it'll be an early KO. By the 10th rd, he'll be spent and battered by a much quicker opponent.
Adam, La Quinta, california
No one, Paqiau will win the fight in the 8th round,
Derek (MO)
Michael kim, how bout tose missouri baseball teams! Go cards go royals
david (charlotte,nc)
Eric... YOU ARE SO CORRECT! i've been thinking the same exact thing while watching these games... the fact that you can have such a great game in the NBA playoffs, and then you can come back 2 days later and get it on again... and the hostility builds... players get sick of the guys on the other team... flagrants have repercussions not only in that game, but the rest of the series... in college its one and done against a particular team...
Scott (Colorado Springs)
Hey MOD, I am not complaining because i do have a lot of comments that make it on this chat, but why do some make it and others don't? Are we flooding the servers? Or do you guys pick what ones make it?
Michael Kim (11:46 AM)
Derek, where have you been? Finally, a Missouri sports fan! Another I-70 Series?
Mike Hill (11:46 AM)
Sean....not many of his teammates care too much for A-Rod...so I don't see them RUNNING to his defense....However, I don't see any of them not backing him....I think A-Rod, even though he's not my favorite person, has taken enough abuse. I've never been a fan of one or two people taking the abuse for a league wide problem.
Jon (Mad-town)
Floyd would destroy Pacquaio, no contest. It would be the most overhyped fight in history.
Moderator (11:46 AM)
Scott, we pick a sampling of the many, many comments that we're flooded with...
Eric (Omaha)
David, I couldnt agree anymore with you
Mike indianapolis
Mayweather will not fight hatton again there is no gain from that. If Manny loses there will be no mega fight the only mega fight is Floyd and Manny.
Aaron (Denver)
Mayweather knocks Manny out inside 9. Too big and can match the hand speed.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
That was harsh Skip!!
Jay ( Philly )
The NBA needs more guys like Jason Terry... I'm a Sixers fan but I love that dude!!!
Kevin (El Paso)
Skip is right, Dallas has no chance at beating Denver.
Walker (Cincinnati, OH)
I can't believe Boldin and OchoCinco haven't been traded yet...
Matt(New Britain,CT)
well, skip just said no shot for dallas,so that means they'll win in 6 or 7,haha
Michael Kim (11:49 AM)
Jon, no contest? I'm not saying Pacman would win but it would be one of the few times Floyd fought someone with a similar skill set. I'd love to see it happen.
Gino (Scranton, PA)
Skip just dissed Jason Terry, this coming from a guy who had high expectations of the Hornets
Dee (Tampa, FL)
Hey Dallas does have a chance of beating The Nuggets, i bet alot of people thought they couldn't beat San Antonio aka The Most Boring Team In The NBA
Michael Kim (11:51 AM)
I agree that Floyd's size is a major advantage.
Dee (Tampa, FL)
Hey Dallas does have a chance of beating The Nuggets, i bet alot of people thought they couldn't beat San Antonio aka The Most Boring Team In The NBA.
Frank (Miami, FL)
Mayweather needs to fight welterweights like Mosley and Cotto. Pacquiao is too small for him.
Tony (VA)
YEA THAT IS RIGHT. HOW BOUT THEM HORNETS SKIP?? THEY ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS THIS YEAR RIGHT??? MAYBE OF TEAM GOLF CUZ THATS ALL THEIR DOING NOW ;-)
Dana Jacobson (11:52 AM)
skip has the purs and the ornets...not so good.
Chizzie Thornton, Co
ESPN needs to bring back "Beat The Schwab" game . I loved that show
E.C. (Crofton, KY)
Really? Pay per view, STILL?! I'll not pay for a fight, when I'm already paying OUTRAGIOUS fee's just to get any good channels... *HD, of course* :) I'll watch F&T, see the best parts anyway!! haha
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
I hate to bring up the Greg Oden-Kevin Durant debate again but I feel that Portland wins easily with Kevin Durant and Joel Przybilla playing starter's minutes instead of Greg Oden and Travis Outlaw. Thoughts?
Moderator (11:53 AM)
give it another year to see how it all pans out...
Kevin (El Paso)
I got Hatton in six.
david (charlotte,nc)
where is d-wade's jersey on the list? SEE WHAT I MEAN....NO LOVE! gold medal..finals mvp...nba mvp candidate...league top scorer....and not top 5 in jersey sales?
Tristan Pierce (Palm Bay, FL)
people are still trying to replace their 8 jerseys
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
MK, when you have that First Take update and list everything going on at Saturday, could you please include Alex vs. Sidney to that list? We can't omit one of sports' best rivalries off Super-Special-Awesome Saturday.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Scratch that, Greg Oden isn't even playing starter's minutes. Yikes, I feel for Portland but the second coming of Bowie-over-Jordan is here.
Juan (ALBQ NM)
I guess Mad-Town Jon has never seen Manny fight. Down Goes Floyd.... Down Goes Floyd!!! Right after Down Goes Hattin!!!
Kevin (El Paso)
Was it " Beat the Shwab" or " Stump the Shwab"?
Moderator (11:55 AM)
Stump...
John, Austin
I think if Simon Cowell is really going to leave American Idol, Skip should take over. America loves to hate both of them.
William (New Jersey)
Chizzie I agree so much. I love sports trivia, and Stump the Schwab used to be my favorite show.
Joe (San Diego, CA)
Nobody thought Pacman would beat Barrera the first time or De La Hoya either. He always proves people wrong. He can beat Mayweather.
Chizzie Thornton, Co
I have 3 NBA jerseys-Melo, JR Smith, and throw back Dan Issel. Yes all three are/were Denver Nuggets
mikey s (Naugy, CT)
Is it just me or is Rajon Rondo putting together the quietest triple-double averaging series ever.
Scott (Colorado Springs)
There are more people in California so that is why Kobe is selling more jerseys. Next Subject.
Michael Kim (11:57 AM)
Lance in NY... and to all hockey fans... That Sidney-Alex matchup was omitted by accident from the script.
Aaron (Denver)
Michael Kim...I agree Floyd spends the first 4 rounds figuring out the Paquiao puzzle and the takes him out. Remember how the lead right pasted Hatton? It works better against lefties.
Moderator (11:57 AM)
One last skip note...he can't do chats during the show, that's his prep time. Jay and I struggle some days as you've seen. He did a chat last week there may be more...don't know.
Michael Hill (11:57 AM)
Peace out people...have a great weekend....see you on Monday.
david (charlotte,nc)
Jalen got it right...where's D-Wade?
Dana Jacobson (11:57 AM)
david, good question
Chizzie Thornton, Co
Dana, Mike and Micheal, and everyone Have a great weekend see ya on Monday...Take Care
E.C. (Crofton, KY)
GREAT SHOW GUYS/GALS.... well done!
RANDY INDIANA
I DON'T GET WHY EVERYONE IS MAKING A BIG DEAL OUT OF THE KENTUCKY DERBY. I MEAN ALL THAT IT IS A STUPID HORSE RACE. IT DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO WATCHING EVERY NASCAR RACE IN ALL THREE SERIES AND THE IRL LEAGUE EVERY WEEKEND.
Larry (Miami, FL)
Michael did Brain Kenny get you hooked on boxing?
Michael Kim (12:08 PM)
Larry, I was always a casual boxing fan -- paid attention to the big fights -- but BK certainly rubbed off on me after all those years on the set with him. Boxing benefits from the economic downturn. It forces promotors and boxers to stage big fights to make their money because won't pay for tomato cans.
Umor (detroit mi)
See ya have a great weekend. GO WINGS.
James Denver
See you monday I will be celebrating Nuggets game 1 victory over Dallas get your popcorn ready for round 2
James Denver
Portland would of won series if it had a 3rd scorer. Durant sure would look nice next to Roy and Aldridge. Oden is the Benjamen Button of the NBA he came into the league old and broke down.
Michael Kim (12:10 PM)
James, that's funny.
Lisa (S. Philly)
Pink would look great on all guys........ A year ago!
mike (naugy,CT)
is it just me or is rajon rondo putting together the quietest triple double series average ever!!!???!!!
Michael Kim (12:12 PM)
Mike, it seems he is. Here's one reason, in my opinion: With all the big shots coming down from both sides at the end of the quarters and overtimes in this series, how many big shots to tie or go-ahead has Rondo hit?
rich (Miami, FL)
who is on your all nba 1st round team?
Michael Kim (12:14 PM)
Rich, that's a great question!
Dana Jacobson (12:18 PM)
guys have a great weekend!!!
Michael Kim (12:20 PM)
Have a great weekend everyone!
