mornin' gang... who should be more embarrassed about not going for the jugular Sunday: Lakers or Magic?? Can the Rockets actually win this series vs. LA?
AJ (Charleston)
It has to be the Lakers, the Magic hung in there until the end and actually had the lead. You cant blame them for allowing Big Baby to beat them, when has he ever proved that capable?
Umor (detroit mi)
Lakers took houston for granted. no yao ming and they thought it would be a cakewalk.
lawrence stowe vt
lakers in 6 Kobe is embarrased and will take it upon himself to win 5 and 6
Rene (Mesa, AZ)
Lakers blew a chance to take out the Rockets knees so to speak. Yao, T-Mac out that was unexpected to see L.A. lose.
Dana Jacobson (10:02 AM)
rene unexpected to say the least!!
Dana Jacobson (10:02 AM)
morning folks, hope you had a good weekend
jason (Chicago)
This is what I dont like about basketball? Why does a team have to be embarrassed? They are playing another playoff team right now, shouldnt all good series go out to 7 games?
Dana Jacobson (10:02 AM)
jason, you sound like phil. and you're right - although the lakers should be embarassed by their effort
Umor (detroit mi)
Hey Dana, what do you think of Foot joining the lions Linebackers ?
Dana Jacobson (10:03 AM)
excellent. need the leadership and the play ability
Rajesh (Atlanta)
Where are you Andrew Bynum?
Dana Jacobson (10:03 AM)
rajesh good question!
Orlando, FL
Can anyone explain to me why the Magic went away from Lewis last night?
Will (WV)
Is Boston really ready for another 7 game series? They are looking weaker by the day.....
AJ (Charleston)
Unexpected, but great for the Nuggets and Cavs who want to see the Lakers pushed to seven. Kobe is starting to look tired and disappears for long periods, he will have to step it up to get past Houston and Denver.
jason (Chicago)
to me, there are just so many games, what is this the 9th game for LA in the playoffs already? Its not easy to dominate 9 games in a row.
AJ (Charleston)
Will, the longer this series goes the more I lean toward Boston winning.
Jonathan (Atlanta, GA)
I'm going to go the other way and say Orlando. In the grand scheme, Orlando losing is of much greater consequence then the Lakers losing.
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
Good morning folks, I hope everyone had the opportunity to appreciate their mothers, wives, etc. over the weekend. We lost mom over 20 years ago so appreciate the time you have with them while you can. So today is the anniversary of Dr. J's scoop in game 4 of the finals?.....the finals.....in May. What a concept.
Jonathan (Atlanta, GA)
Last night, during the game, they took a shot of Bynum on the bench during the fourth quarter and he looked completely non-chalant. His head is just not in the playoffs.
Jay Crawford (10:11 AM)
the lakers looked very human!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
So what does Skip have to say about LeBron this morning? Is he not leading his team to large enough wins or something?
Greg (riverside,CA)
Lakers will win in 6. THE ROCKETS WON BECAUSE LAKERS HAD A BAD SHOOTING GAME
Andrew Bynum (LA)
Man, this bench is warm.
Brian (Michigan)
Who put a banana in the Lakers tailpipe?
lawrence stowe vt
is lamar going to miss time
Rene (Mesa, AZ)
Houston won because Lakers didn't show up. They thought they could win by just showing up. THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS!!!
Dana Jacobson (10:13 AM)
lawrence mri later today....
AJ (Charleston)
Doesnt that say that the Rockets are forcing them into bad shots? They didnt get open looks last night, its not as if the shots just werent falling.
Dana Jacobson (10:14 AM)
AJ some great defense by houston...that's part of the game plan vs kobe. we've got houstons gm on in hour number 2 to talk about it
Greg (riverside,CA)
I THINK THE CAVS GOT EASY COMPETITION THIS YEAR
Dale from Baltimore
Jay is it me or are the NBA refs missing what seems to be alot of easy calls that are impacting these playoff games
Greg (riverside,CA)
ORLANDO MAGIC WILL WIN THE SERIES IN 6 I THINK THEY WILL TAKE GAME 5 AT BOSTON THEN COME BACK HOME AND WIN AND PLAY THE CAVS
Matt(New Britain,CT)
agree greg, cavs will be shocked next round when they face a team that can actually play
Rene (Mesa, AZ)
Cavs are well aware of their remaining obstacles to the finals. No shock in the future.
jason (Chicago)
Pierre is 6/11 with Manny out.... I know the power numbers arent there but the void is being filled pretty well
AJ (Charleston)
Not to mention the Pierre is an upgrade defensively.
John: (Orlando, FL)
Lebron has them ridiculously focused. It's business time!
Darris (San Antonio, TX)
The hate is strong within Ryan this morning for the Lakeshow I see. @ least the Lakers are playing teams that actually are capable of putting up a fight while the Cavs get praise for beating B-List teams. Lakers in 6.
Mike indianapolis
When you replace Manny you get Jason Bay not Juan Pierre
Tom (Minneapolis)
Why does no body talk about the flops that Rando have come to master? Tripping over his own feet and getting the foul?
Brian, Erie,PA
Good thing Kobe kept telling Battier couldn't cover him. Kobe goes 7-17 no free throws 15 points. I think they got the MVP vote right. LeBron wouldn't put up those dismal numbers.
Dana Jacobson (10:26 AM)
tom, this is sort of off topic but no one flops like about 5 years ago - vlade was a master, even shaq was good...like 5-10 years ago it was all about the flop!
jason (Chicago)
Good Point AJ. I say get rid of Manny forever..
Anthony, ATL
Kobe will always be a knotch below the true greats, he gives up on his teams, and then blames them, just remember last year in the Finals, remember the finals against the pistons, the suns series when they were up 3-1 and folded, the year against the suns where he took 2 shots in the second half in a game 7
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Jay I had Denver and Cleveland from the start of the playoffs
Jay Crawford (10:27 AM)
nice adam! you might look like a profit!
Jay Crawford (10:27 AM)
oh...sorry room! good monday to you!!! i hope everyone had a terrific weekend!
Rene (Mesa, AZ)
It seems like Kobe picks and chooses when he wants to win a game. Thats what will continually seperates him from the truly GREAT ones. You don't run from those situations.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
I used to have a mental list of star baseball players that I "knew" were clean. Manny was on that list. With the recent news, I no longer have that list and baseball gets more disappointing.
Moderator (10:28 AM)
2nd down later: Tiger continues to struggle...finished 7 strokes back at the TPC...is he in trouble? Mets won 7th in a row yesterday...how good are the Mets?
Battier Fan(Mn)
How does a team coached by the "great" Phil Jackson continuously show up the Playoffs soft? Lakers would be better off dumping Phil and getting a coach with passion and not Zen
Jay Crawford (10:28 AM)
im not sure you can say for certain anyone is clean anymore...its a shame.
Dana Jacobson (10:28 AM)
Battier fan, there's only so much he can do. Does this take away from his greatness??
Brian (Erie, PA)
Show one player that DOESN'T flop in the NBA!!!!!!
Greg (riverside,CA)
DARRIS I AGREE 100 % ON THAT BUT I HONESTLY DONT THINK THERE B LIST TEAMS I THINK MAYBE C'S MORE LIKE IT BECAUSE THE HAWKS HAVE A LOT OF HURT PLAYERS THAT ARE NOT 100 PERCENT
Will (WV)
Kobe is Kobe.....there is no "I" in team...but there is one on his!
AJ (Charleston)
Hmmm the same B-list teams that beat the lakers in the regular season too huh? Pistons and Hawks both beat the lakers but so far havent mustered a win against the Cavs this postseason.
Jay C (Jersey)
Get rid of Jason (Chicago) from this chat forever....
John: (Orlando, FL)
Oh, that's right! I forgot that the Cavs got to pick who they play. Silly me! The Lakers just got run by a Rockets team led by..... wait for it... Aaron Brooks.
Dana Jacobson (10:29 AM)
Brian, that's sort of what i mean, they all flop but like 5-10 years ago it was masterful, they didn't all flop. it was like a dramatic performance you knew who the floppers were
John, Austin
Why is everyone shocked about the Rockets beating the Lakers sans Yao and his glass slippers, err feet? They are 4-0 vs the Lakers w/o him. Maybe Mark Jackson is right, the Lakers can't defend the pick and roll and Houston's speed in the backcourt.
Jay Crawford (10:29 AM)
wow jay...why?
Kevin (Kansas City)
I think Skip hates on LeBron so much because he knows how good he is and he is fighting to become LeBron's arch nemesis. All Skip is doing is giving LeBron a reason to be the MVP he is.
Nathan, Clarion
Think Andrew Bynum's recent interest in Rihanna is distracting him on the court? Or maybe the pictures that leaked?
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
They should re-name "Mannywood" the French Quarter (Pierre) and start selling beads and Mardi Gras masks.
Joe Cincinnati ohio
I think the Magic should be more embarassed. Dwight Howard looked like he was out of gas in the 4th, the home crowd for the magic was dead,
Adam G. Tampa, FL
I think after Lebron wins the NBA title this year, he'll try to go win another title for another franchise who has no history of winning.
Jody from Youngstown Ohio
That was not a foul n the Dallas Denver game?If u look at the Ref's view, which is behind them, when he reaches n Carmello loses control of the ball, which looks like he goin 4 a steal than goin 4 a foul!! The Ref didnt c that weak foul ?
Mike indianapolis
Do we not remember that Carmelo made the shot I hate how the NBA only complain when calls go against them like when Miller missed the free throws and all of a sudden Rondo was a dirty player but if those are makes it doesnt matter
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Any comments on A-Rod going deep on the first pitch he saw for the year? According to him it was a top ten moment.
Jay Crawford (10:30 AM)
it was theatrical!
Matt(New Britain,CT)
wouldn't be worried about tiger,he doesn't have a good history at sawgrass, don't worry
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
There's no "I" in "team" but there is a "M" and an "E".
John: (Orlando, FL)
The Mets are the Mets - and until they can close out a season - I try not and get too excited.
Matt (Satellite Beach, FL)
This loss may be the best thing for the Magic right now. I have watched them dissapoint at home time and time again, but they have played very well on the road this season. Maybe a Game 7 could get them ready for the Cavs.
Brian (Erie,PA)
Mets could be good if they can more than the Pirates. They need starting pitching.
Matt(New Britain,CT)
tiger isn't in trouble,he always struggles at sawgrass, plus everyone was struggling. i'd worry about the leader who began the 4th rd,and went on to lose a 5 shot lead in about 4 holes.
Moderator (10:30 AM)
I need to ponder that for a minute Jason...talk amongst yourselves for a little while
Jay Crawford (10:31 AM)
yeah i agree. i wouldnt worry much about tiger, but he has to improve his driving accuracy. unless he putts like a robot its impossible to overcome his wildness off the tee.
Gerard
I agree with Skip about Kobe he is just out of gas, and the way everything is going right for Denver and Chauncey's chip on his shoulder its going to be Denver and Cleveland.
jason (Chicago)
Thats why I love my White Sox and their 2005 World Series... We may have some drama about A.J. Pierzynski and some shaddy calls, but no steriod talks...
Jay B Cleveland OHIO
stop it stop it ...the lakers are in for a rude awaking the rockets are better without yao in the line up simply becuz they are quicker without him..even tho the lakers MAY take it in six ..but I dont care what you all think the magic are a tourist team they have no hart..and boston will win series becuz the play very hard wiout a tru center and they know how to win..CAVS are the best team this year just face it lakers fans worry about houston right now!!! GO cleveland
Jay C (Jersey)
Because Jay Crawford he said get rid of Manny forever
Jay Crawford (10:32 AM)
sorry. i missed that posting. thats a bit harsh. everyone should just relax a little on manny.
John: (Orlando, FL)
No one flops like Anderson Varejao. He even keeps his hair long to accentuate it. I personally love it - he brings an energy and intensity that very few players can bring.
Jay Crawford (10:32 AM)
he is the flop master. the hair helps!
Mike indianapolis
As long as thesse players dont gotta give that money back steroids is a non concern look no jail time a suspension and having to admit it to the public i'll take my 200 million and deal with whatever else come the bottom line is money what would you do to set your family up for the next 10 generations HGH bring it on.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Well the Pens are one up on the Caps, the Braves took two of three from the Phils, and I'm here today so yeah, I think the weekend went OK, Jay.
Jay Crawford (10:33 AM)
outstandinG!
chris(san jose)
a rude awaking....lets get this clear the rockets got lucky with on hot player and that it. the rockets dont win another game
jason (Chicago)
Jay must be a Manny Ramirez fan.... sorry to hear it
Jay Crawford (10:34 AM)
nope. just respect his hitting skills. unless someone can prove to me the pitchers he hit bombs off were all clean, it is what it is... is he the only one? not even close.
Moderator (10:34 AM)
Spike Lee coming up on the show folks
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
My beloved Pirates are on their way to a major sports record setting 17th straight losing season, but never any PED drama. Let's go Bucs! /cry
Scott, (Charlotte, NC)
It's only May. The DL drama with the Cubs now will pay off late in the year since Hoffpauir and some of the prospects will now get some meaningful innings.
John, Austin
in contention every Sunday...hmmm...I bet Sergio and Phil still wish they were Tiger.
Brian (Erie, PA)
Hold on... Big Baby with the game winner???? Who saw that coming??? Who's next for the Celts??? Scalabrine hitting a GW??? Perkins???
AJ (Charleston)
Not to mention give Andy some props for improving on the offensive end this year.
chris(san antonio, tx)
i think the lakers will be fine as long as the clippers dont show up in their place as happened yesterday
Greg (riverside,CA)
THE ONE TEAM THAT I WOULD WANT TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS DENVER BECAUSE CARMELO IS A REAL GOOD PLAYER AND NO ONE GIVES HIM CREDIT FOR HOW GOOD HE REALLY IS
Brandon (Cleveland, Ohio)
The fact is that both the cavs and the magic are both playing teams that are not as good as them...the difference is the cavs have heart and the magic don't seem too. The cavs would have done the same thing to the sixers and Boston
Nathan (Clarion, PA)
D. Lowe and J. Santana...who do you got??
Jay Crawford (10:35 AM)
santana!
Mike indianapolis
MOD as much as Tiger has won and as much money as he has mad I wish we all could struggle like that 8th place since when is that struggling in golf.
Moderator (10:35 AM)
agreed, Mike
Matt (Council Bluffs,IA)
Kobe will come back in game 5 at home and man handle the Rockest, and by that...i mean he'll score over 40 pts. and they'll destroy them
Jay C ( Jersey)
You must be crazy if you think Juan Pierre is the better fit because he is better defensively are you kidding me?
Rene (Mesa, AZ)
I will not buy this Rockets better w/o T-Mac and Yao business!!! Whats next Artest gets hurt and someone says they are better w/o him too?!?!?
Jay Crawford (10:36 AM)
thats just nonsense.
Whitta Fostoria Ohio
Cavs are all role players outside of Lebron what a joke Mo is top 5 in the league of pure shooters Z is just nasty and Delonte is just underrated enough said
AJ (Charleston)
Greg, hit the caps lock button bro, enough is enough
Matt(New Britain,CT)
we've seen the mets do this before. make the playoffs for once, and then we'll talk
Kevin (El Paso)
the best flopper ever in the NBA?...John Stockton
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
You know how good Tiger is when people are concerned about him and he's still finishing in the top ten. The guy missed an entire season, isn't at the top of his game, and STILL finishes near the top. Why worry?
Lonnie T Denver CO
I think that the Lakers are in real trouble. Kobe is not getting any help. Granted, being a Nugget fan, it breaks my heart.
Javis ,Miami
It's because of people like Ryan Stewart that I became a Kobe fan in the first place. I just hope and pray that Lobe does win a championship so that he and every other Kobe hater eats a ton of crow.
Eric, Oil City PA
Why have we not heard more about the Pens-Caps series? I realize Skip didn't get any more deuling hat tricks, but come on what a series. The Pens are down 2 games to none and win the next three, two in OT. talk about an amazing series.
Kevin (Wash., DC)
Kobe ain't Jordan and never will be. He needs to stop thinking he can do what he can cause he cant.
Charleston SC
Hi Kobe can't win with you guy on here if he shoots and shoots you say he's to selfish to share the ball and that's why they lose. If he pass and he's teammates don't make open shot he's the reason. I know Kobe really feels bad he's not perfect like all of you guys on here.
John: (Orlando, FL)
Jason - Jim Thome was on that 2005 team, wasn't he? If you think Thome wasn't taking anything - you are sorely misguided. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was on the "A-Roid" list. I watched him come up in Cleveland.
Jay Crawford (10:39 AM)
no. thome wa in philly in 05
AJ (Charleston)
Hey nameless, its not that Kobe was selfish last night, its the fact that he looks tired and disappears. Maybe he is saving himself for Game 5, but 13 seasons take the toll especially without an offseason.
Javis, Miami
It's because of people like Ryan Stewartmthat I became a Kobe fan in the first place. I hope and pray that Kobe does win a championship so that he and every other Kobe hater has to eat a ton of crow.
Matt (Council Bluffs, IA)
what a bout A-Rod with that first pitch homerun in his first AB of the season?
Brian (Erie, PA)
Jay- Please tell Skip i've been following his hating for years. Just browsed through "The Boys" and "Hell-Bent" again. Some things don't change!!
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Can we get Reggie Miller to sit on Skip's side to debate with Spike?
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Nice polo shirt Spike
Jay Crawford (10:42 AM)
that would be fun!
John: (Orlando, FL)
Dana - I know why Spike made the Kobe documentary as a Knicks fan. Because no one would pay for a David Lee documentary.
Tom (Minneapolis)
So remember when the buzz was all about Bynum coming back and would push the Lakers into the Finals...hmmm??
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Funny how when the Lakers win, it's because of how great Kobe is but when they lose it's because he isn't getting any help.
10th place, 11th place, 12 th place
We envy Tiger.
Jay Crawford (10:42 AM)
funny place!
John, Austin
I think people have underestimated a few things about the Rockets. Ron Ron lets us in on it during the post game when he said that no matter what has happened with them during the year, after every injury and every loss they have had fun in the locker room. Chemistry people, chemistry is huge!!! The only surprising thing is that statement came out of his mouth.
Moderator (10:43 AM)
"Ron Ron", John, do people really call him "Ron Ron"??
Jeremy: (Lake Charles, La)
C'mon Spike... you know the Cavs would win! The lakers can't beat the rockets without their two super stars
Nathan (Clarion, PA)
I think if LeBron had a dominate center like Dwight, the Cavs would be untouchable for the next ten years. No question.
Matt (Council Bluffs, IA)
check this out,Kobe won 3 rings before Jordan won his first...that says a lot don't it?
Rene (Mesa, AZ)
Charleston... Do you see the Cavs having those problems? When you have a pass first guy on your team who is a superstar it changes the entire mentality for the team. THEY GET CONFIDENCE...
Battier Fan(Mn)
Jay, it has to take away from his legacy. Makes you think Jordan/Pippen and Kobe/Shaq made him. A great coach wouldn't let such a talented team flop so often
Brian (Erie, PA)
Jordan has something Kobe and LeBron will never have... an NCAA Championship!
Will (WV)
Matt....Kobe had someone by the name of Shaq on his side....lets not get carried away and give Kobe all the credit budy!
Rene (Mesa, AZ)
Jordan's best teammate was Pippen obviously... Kobe's best teammate (Shaq) was the leader and 1st offensive option on the team not like MJ's situation.
John: (Orlando, FL)
Matt - Kobe had Shaq. Stop making those references. Jordan is Shaq - Pippin is Kobe. It's ok - Kobe is still great, but he didn't make those Lakers Champ. squads.
John, Austin
Only his closest friends call him that. And his barber.
Mike indianapolis
Yes we call him ron ron
Mike indianapolis
Does everyone forget LBJ has been to the finals and has a bitter taste just like KOBE He will not let it happen again Cleveland rejoice Jay get ready for the parade when lebron makes that face like chris webber used to you know he will not lose.
Jeremy (Lake Charles, La)
Lets see how Spike does against Skip
Adam G. Tampa, fL
Spike put me in a movie son lol
Brian (Michigan)
The Rockets are better without T-Mac, just not better without Yao.
Will (WV)
Somebody hand Spike a Reggie Miller jersey!
Dana Jacobson (10:48 AM)
brian they may be against the lakers. someone earlier said 4-0 without yao vs lakers, and that is correct. 3-0 reg season now yesterdays win
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Spike put Joba in the bullpen!
Mike indianapolis
Miracle at ST. ANNA is a great movie
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
I think the guy that Artest punched out in the stands called him "Ron Ron" too...
Matt(New Britain,CT)
lets not give shaq all the credit either though,he's won championships only with a star by his side,kobe/dwade
Matt(New Britain,CT)
that bay trade is looking better & better, another game-winning hit
Mike indianapolis
Jordan has something they will never have and thats being Michael Jordan silly
Dana Jacobson (10:49 AM)
mike is that like manny benig manny...sorry had to
AJ (Charleston)
But he wont without Kobe at least, and look at how he carried the Suns this year down the stretch.
Rene (Mesa, AZ)
Matt nobody said Shaq is like MJ...You said Kobe had 3 rings before MJ implying there's something to consider against MJ. I don't think so pal.
lawrence vt
kobe and shaq also lost a title together
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Skip's right Arod is a beast, but is not a locker room guy at all. He's all about me when the concept is about TEAM.
Will (WV)
Hi dana....How is your dog doing?
Dana Jacobson (10:51 AM)
will, she's doing better thanks
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Jason Bay, another case of the ineptitude of the Pirates organization...
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Somehow I don't think LeBron is losing any sleep over not having an NCAA title to his credit.
Jeremy: (Lake Charles, La):
A-Rod is a great player. Baseball isn't a sport where one person can carry a team. The supporting cast needs to be better. Any team would love to have A-Rod.
Eric (Oil City, PA)
Nothing like being a hockey fan in a sports chat. You get completely ignored.
Dana Jacobson (10:52 AM)
johnny, i think you have a good point
Matt (Council Bluffs, IA)
the Ducks will win in 7 games and win the Stanley Cup
Dana Jacobson (10:52 AM)
matt, sorry i beg to differ
Mike indianapolis
I get it just Dana being Dana lol
Dana Jacobson (10:55 AM)
exactly mike
Jesse, Acworth
Spike says Raoberts book is "well researched" I can only assume its "well researched" like her article calling the Duke lacrosse players "thugs" and "rapists". I assume her book it trash
Will (WV)
Lebron will be in NY if they dont win it all this year....bottom line!
Whitta (Ohio)
yes he should be a cav for life he is building a legacy as we speak why goto the knicks or any other place for that matter and start all over again it would make absolutly no sense what soever skip needs to get over it he is a fan like everyone else is
AJ (Charleston)
Look the Cavs have built a team around LeBron, they have the money to go out and sign another big name free agent. Another thing that most people dont realize is that the Cavs can go above the Salary Cap to sign their own free agents AND can offer him one more year than any other team. Bosh + LBJ in 2010 is a definate possibility.
Dana Jacobson (10:56 AM)
whitta, i agree. first of all lebron can like whatever teams he wants. also....if lebron goes, lets not forget he's going to have to do some rebuilding..not like the knicks are ready to go!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Good point about what, Dana? I have them so rarely that I'd like to know.
Dana Jacobson (10:56 AM)
johnny, lebron no tmissing an ncaa title
John: (Orlando, FL)
I'm a Cleveland fan - it doesn't bother me that Lebron likes other teams. If Skip favors loyalty so much - wouldn't it make sense for him to go back to Oklahoma? Oh, I'll miss him.
Dana Jacobson (10:56 AM)
very funny john
Eric (Oil City, PA)
The Red Wings won't even let it get to game seven Matt. I would love to see the Ducks slaughter them though, especially after the raided Hossa from the Pens. It's not like they even needed him.
John, Austin
Dana, have you read the Selena Roberts book yet, has anyone?
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
The ref's missed the call in the Mavs - Nugs game, but let's be realistic...the Mavs were never going to win that series anyway.
Jesse, Acworth
Why is Lebron such a lock to go to NY ? Is there some major lack of publicity? Is his name not know at this point?
Dana Jacobson (10:58 AM)
John, I haven't. I have a few days off at the end of the week and will try to plow through it this weekend. I was reading something else already and enjoying it and frankly didn't want to interrupt it for more "steroid" reading
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Skip DOES stay loyal. He's the biggest Vandy homer I've ever seen!
Whitta (Ohio)
thank you dana that means alot from a michigan fan lol jk
James Denver
I have never heard Lebron say it but Kobe actaually came out and said he wished he had went to college had a chance to win NCAA titles.
Dana Jacobson (10:58 AM)
see whitta we can get along sometimes....
Brando (Cleveland, Ohio)
People seem to forget that the Cavs lost in 07...you think Bron aint hungry...please
Matt(New Britain,CT)
surprised that the pens have outplayed nhl's boy ovechkin?
Dana Jacobson (10:59 AM)
matt, not sure sid the kid has but the team has
Matt (Council Bluffs, IA)
and Hiller is one hell of a good rookie, especially in the playoffs...but they do have t5he best front line in the playoffs
Dana Jacobson (10:59 AM)
matt, hiller has made a name for himself like varmalov. gerat rooks
Aaron (Denver)
You are a 24 year old with over 50 million in the bank, would you rather live in New York City or Cleveland....
Dana Jacobson (10:59 AM)
aaron, he can live wherever he wants in the offseason.
mw: n. royalton, oh
time for ESPN and most of its commentators to stop playing fortune teller in regards to lebron's future. No one knows what he is going to do in 2010 and i for one am sick and tired of drum beat Lebrons going to New York. Look at the Knicks, why would anyone what to play with that group?
Brandon (Tucson)
The Denver Nuggets look like the best team in the West right now! I look for a Cav - Nuggets Finals!!
Wallace Breer (Meridian, MS)
The New York Knicks have no chance in winning a championship in the next few years, so why looked James go to New York to start building a new team all over again. He should stay in Cleveland and win multiple championships.
Revis (Florence, KY)
If you didnt pay attention to basketball, then watched this show, you would never know that there are other players in this league besides Kobe and Lebron.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Jim Thome has never been on the Pirates. He was in Philly.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Can't wait for this decade's Bird vs. MJ Carmelo Anthony vs. Kobe Bryant.
jason (Chicago)
Thank you Jay
John: (Orlando, FL)
That's right - my bad.
Brian (Michigan)
One question mark is sufficient, Brian from Erie, PA.
Jay Crawford (11:15 AM)
sometimes 2 is appropriate!!
Kevin (El Paso)
If the Mavs were trying to foul, why did 21 throw his hands up like he didnt want the refs to call it on him?
Aaron (Denver)
Melo finally got a "no call" to go his way. George Carl has expressed frustration several times in the past on how Melo does not get the "treatment" ala D-wade, Lebron, and Kobe....
Pat (Denver)
the refs did blow the call but if u look at the clock there is still 3 seconds left on the clock when the foul occurred, still plenty of time for melo to drop his pattened buzzer beaters
Dana Jacobson (11:17 AM)
Pat, no one who is a mavs fan will listen. BUT eddie sefko just said this and its true - there were other things in that game that the mavs could have done so that it never got to that point. not excusing officiating, just saying
torrey (louisiana)
the reffs made a mistake wright raised hes hand so it wont be a 3 point play it was clearly a hard foul
Charles DTown Ohio
Dana Got a question for you? Should I be as concerned for the Lakers as I am after yesterdays performance. They can give all Laker fans an heart attack. Lol
Chris (Lakeland Florida)
Doug, he's throwing his hands up because once Carmello goes by him and begins the act of shooting he can't afford the foul to be called in the act...game over if that happens. Wright should have fouled and wrapped him up.
AJ (Charleston)
Kevin, he didnt hear a whistle and he didnt want a continuation foul called to give Melo a 4 point play.
Dana Jacobson (11:18 AM)
Charles they looked awful. It'll either be a wake up call of don't take anyone lightly or yes be worried cause denver looks awfully good
Steve (Syracuse)
Melo should be given a TON of credit- he misses that shot no one in dallas is saying a word today.
Dana Jacobson (11:18 AM)
steve, well said
Mike indianapolis
The ref was not even looking at the play he was looking at Melos feet to see if he stepped out check the replay
Revis (Florence, KY)
Anytime a player, of any sport, throws his hands up, he just commited a foul.
James Denver
Why would Lebron want to go play for Dantoni his system cant win in the Playoffs and never will! You have to play Defense to win championships. Why would a improving defender getting reconized for D for first time in carreer want to go play on team that plays no D?
Dana Jacobson (11:19 AM)
james, if lebron wants to go to ny but doesn't want dantoni, ny will get a new coach
Tom (River North)
Let's get one thing straight: Hossa's agent called the Wings, not the other way around. Detroit's depth is too much for the Ducks who depend on one line to get offense, and with Getzlaf sick and Ryan possibly hurt, this series ends tomorrow.
Dana Jacobson (11:20 AM)
as it pertains to hossa, come on. happens all the time, why did the pens let him go? i was shocked when detroit added him..maybe he wanted to be there more than pitt?
Demetric (Orlando)
Dana, how many wake up calls do the Lakers need, game 1 was a one. Game 4 was sign sealed and delivered for the lakers and they blew it
Dana Jacobson (11:21 AM)
demetric, as long as they keep falling asleep but staying alive! seriously. sounds ridiculous but you never know till their time is done if it was a wake up call - at least i don't , no esp
jada york city [via mobile]
Ur right dana ny will do anything to get lebron
Kevin NC
Why would lebron leave Clevelland though? If he is so great how come he can get a coach fired at New York but he cant get some better talent at Cleveland?
Dana Jacobson (11:22 AM)
kevin, he got the coach he wanted. he got change when he asked for it.
Tom (River North)
How much more talent does LeBron need in Cleveland? They have been dominant in the playoffs so far, and it doesn't look like anyone in the East will be able to stop them. I'd be shocked if he left Cleveland for New York.
Steve (Syracuse)
Someone has to remind ATL that there is playoff basketball still to be played. Beside last night- all of the second round games have been AWFUL...
corey (louisiana)
I wanna see what happens when the cavs. play a REAL team, if they do this to bos. or orl. then I'll be impressed
rhino230 (L.A.)
Why do sports reporters always bring up how much money a player makes? I'd like to know what the reporters make, I'm certain most are overpaid!
Dana Jacobson (11:24 AM)
rhino, like every job - yep some are overpaid and some are underpaid. its the way of the world
AJ (Charleston)
I know the league would love to see a Kobe-LeBron final, but personally I would be just as interested in a Melo-LeBron Final. Wade already has one, and these two are the other big names from that 03 class.
Moderator (11:24 AM)
what should the NBA do with Mark Cuban's antics after Saturday's Nuggets/Mavs game?
Jay Crawford (11:27 AM)
id love it melo and lebron could build a decade long rivalry
Whitta (ohio)
the second quarter belongs to Mo in Cleveland he is Lebrons Pippen....Shoot it Mo DEEP in the Q!!!!
derrick (iowa)
i agree with the Stews.. Wright shouldnt of thrown his hands in the air after he tried to foul mello... but maybe he did that because he thought he might get the call, but didnt want to seem like he fouled him during the shot!
Brandon (Omaha)
Just like in boxing Wright shouldn't have put the fate of the game in the refs hands. If you gonna foul, then foul. Melo didn't hear a whistle he kept playing and won the game fair and square. Mavs shouldn't be looking at the refs to win these games for them.
Jay Crawford (11:27 AM)
well said brandon!
Brian (Michigan)
They should just count Cuban as an extra player. They should have given him a technical and Joey Crawford (Jay's father) should challenge Cuban to a fight.
Jay Crawford (11:28 AM)
hey brian!!! i take offense to that :)
Adam G. Tampa, FL
yeah JAY! Melo should have been compared to Larry Legend instead of Kobe Kobe's this decades MJ
Will (WV)
THAT WOULD BE GREAT...MELO AND JAMES...SAME CLASS...BRING IT!
Aaron (Denver)
Lovin Barry's gear today!
Jay Crawford (11:28 AM)
he always brings the drobe!
torrey (louisiana)
mark cuban should be suspended and fined
Adam G. Tampa, FL
BARRY BARRY BARRY BARRY
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Hey Jay how about if we throw D-Wade in with Labron and Melo.
Jay Crawford (11:29 AM)
yea, but he needs more help around him in miami
Chad (Las Vegas)
Would it be better for the NBA to have Lebron in NY? I would think NY is a huge market no matter who is playing there. Lebron in Cleveland gives the NBA something extra.
B.D. (KY)
Will the NBA playoffs be over before the World Series?
joe (arp)
No i guess no one saw him push the little innocent child to the floor.
Paul (Warwick,Ri)
to compare Melo-Lebron to Bird-Jordan is blasphemy.
Demetric (Orlando)
Although I might have to wipe the egg off my face, I'm still proud of my Hawks and hopefully we won't let the Cavs win on our home court
derrick (iowa)
the NBA should get rid of Cuban.. so he can buy the Cubs!!!!
Brian (Michigan)
How do you suspend an owner? Let someone else own the team for awhile?
Jay Crawford (11:30 AM)
paul, go re-read it. of course it is...no one did. i said i would love if they COULD build that. easy paul...easy
Kevin (North Carolina)
Jay, when is the last time yo ucan remember a post season in the NBA being officiated so poorly?
Jay Crawford (11:30 AM)
ummm, last year....lol. kidding. it has been bad.
aron (denver,co)
i think mark cuban should be ashamed for attacking someones mother on the weekend we give thanks to moms everywhere his mom should smack him into next week so he dont gotta watch tonight
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Barry Ovechkin puts the Caps on his back tonight it will be a game to remember.
Aaron (Denver)
Is there any team in the NBA who should NOT rely on the refs more than the Mavs. Cuban's antics over the last 5-10 years have sealed this fate.
Jay Crawford (11:31 AM)
great pt aaron. they know they will never get any breaks.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Hey Jay I think D-Wade already has one Championship ring and Miami will rebuild this year. How many Rings do Labron and Melo have?
Jay Crawford (11:31 AM)
he has one..with shaq...who is long gone.
Will (WV)
Barry Melrose's outfit matches his hair! Go Barry! Salt & Pepper!
torrey (louisiana)
labron is a better jordan meaning he can do it all and his team mates like him
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Who are the players that you could compare in this decade to Larry Legend and Michael Jeffrey then Paul?
Jeremy (Dallas, TX)
Whose mom did Cuban attack?!
Jay Crawford (11:32 AM)
kmar's
Demetric (Orlando)
Stern can force Cuban to an owners box, thats an easy way to sovle the problem
Kevin (North Carolina)
Do you think something will change next year?
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Just to make everyone upset, if the X-Rays reveal no major damage, Brett Favre should be wearing purple and gold for the 2009-2010 NFL season.
joe (arp)
Jay did you see big baby push the child to the floor after making that game winner, if so what did you think of that.
Jay Crawford (11:32 AM)
it was kind of strange to say the least
Steve (Syracuse)
Problem with LeBron is that he has bought into his own hype. He says that he is all about team, yet he wears the MVP shoes, and does the showy things for himself. Win a ring before you do all the on the court antics...
corey (louisiana)
I say you can't compare the greats of yesteryear to the greats of today, just two totally diff. eras. Fouls aren't called the same, players are bigger, I mean LeBron would've been a PF in the 80s or 90s for goodness sake. Just too diff. to compare
Steve (Alexandria, VA)
you cant even begin to compar lebron to jordan.. end of story
Brian (Michigan)
Stop comparing them to players of the past and let them be who they are. They will make their own legacy.
Jay Crawford (11:34 AM)
sure you can steve. you can begin to compare him through what both did thru their first 6 sesasons. and that's it. lebrons career is in progress. so we compare aplles to apples. the 2 are very comparabale. now lebron has to go win 6, then we can have the complete discussion. until then, its apples and oranges.
Mike (Happy Valley, Pa)
Whats good Jay?!?!
Jay Crawford (11:34 AM)
whats up mike! we are!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quintin (Tuscaloosa,AL)
Hey Jay do you think James will leave Clevand, since your a Clevand fan lol
Jay Crawford (11:35 AM)
my hope is no. my gut says, its very possible....
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Paul I think Jay C was comparing the fact that Lebron and Melo came in together and had the hype that Bird and Magic did. We're not trying to compare their games because Larry and Magic's history speaks for itself.
Jay Crawford (11:35 AM)
thanks for backwatching adam g!
Will (WV)
Why do players and coaches always complain about the refs missing calls? the players miss shots and they are getting paid much more money. So should we keep stats for the refs too?
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Root home those Pens at the Igloo tonight, Mike.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
The difference is that MJ made his legacy beating the Knicks and LeBron is going to make his leading the Knicks (I can dream, can't I?).
Jeremy (Dallas, TX)
Every analysts compares Lebron to Jordan, its natural because is the best and Lebron will soon be No. 2
derrick ( iowa)
maybe the ref didnt make the call in the mavs game because so much is being put on the officials either making the call or not making the call...
Tone (Seattle)
Corey, Lebron would still be a SF like Magic was a PG. And can you imagine, the numbers Jordan, Magic and Larry would get with todays rules..
Kevin (El Paso)
Joe, baby should get a fine for that...pathetic!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
I would love to see Wilt beating up on the centers of today
Kevin (North Carolina)
Brett Farve should stay retired. He has had an excellent career, still holds records, and if he went to the Vikings, regardless of what happend last year with Greenbay, Farve should not ruin over a decade of good football family in Greenbay by going to the vikings.
torrey (louisiana)
i say make him applogize and give the lady season tickets it was mothers day and he did that that tells you alot about him personaly
Revis (Florence, KY)
How did Cuban get out of the psychiatric hospital? I thought I had him tied up in that straight jacket pretty tight.
Steve (Syracuse)
Have LeBron get half the titles Jordan did, or make half of the clutch playoff shots that Jordan did before we call LeBron "the next" anything
AJ (Charleston)
This is bad to say but Melo isnt in that superstar class, he couldnt get this team anywhere in the playoffs until they got Billips in there. T-Mac = Melo.
Jay Crawford (11:38 AM)
steve, lebron has the same number of titles jordan had at the same stage of their careers. let's just hold off on the argument til he's all through.
Pat (Denver)
Paul, up until recently no one was saying anything about Melo all of the talk so far has been about D-Wade and LeBron
Cedric (Knoxville)
How can some people compare His airness to Lebron, Have they seen MJ's game? come on it is a blasphemy to compare them. For me lebron or even Kobe have to do something that MJ did not do and this has not happen yet so do not compare please. I have been following the NBA for more that 30 years and I can tell you that Lebron has a long, long, long way to go before being compared to the Greatest
Jay Crawford (11:39 AM)
ced, go look at the stats of mj through 6 yrs. then look at lebrons, and get back to me. thats how...
joe (atlanta)
then he went on to pelt the crowd with prophanitys
Eric (Akron, OH)
Lebreon is the face of the NBA, regarless of the tournament this year. He might not have a ring (yet) but he also doesn't have any off court antics on his record- such as Kobe or Carmelo, or many others. LeBron is MVP and the face of basketball
joe (atlanta)
yeah that really botherd me
Will (WV0
Dana...Jay has different color eyes?! Did not know that!
Jay Crawford (11:40 AM)
im guessing she knows will...
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Wade was picked 5th after Bosh in that draft and he is the one with the championship ring.
Kelly (Northern California)
Why don't you just call your network the east coast sports network. I'm sick of trying to see highlights of the giants-dodgers game but I can't. You showed the yankees, red sox and celtics highlights multiple times and still never showed how the giants won. All sports should be covered equally, not just teams from Boston and New York.
Jay Crawford (11:40 AM)
an assist to shaq on dwaynes ring.
Aaron (Denver)
Preach On Cedric!
Kevin (North Carolina)
If Lebron wants to have anything to do with MJ, he should stay at Cleveland and win 6 titles. Then we can say he is like Mike.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Melo and Lebron are still young and had to get accustomed to the NBA. Their in their primes now and have many battles/titles between them, ahead of them.
dennis (St.louis)
I cant wait until the end of next week, cuz cleveland will have lost at least 2 gms and I'm curious what will be the First Take then?
Jay Crawford (11:41 AM)
2 games? until they lose 4 in 7 it wont matter.
Cedric (Knoxville)
come on jay... are you serious do you know that MJ went to college, Lebron did not, MJ did not play an entire season in the NBA because his leg was broken and the rules have changed making the scoring easier for Kobe and Lebron
Moderator (11:42 AM)
Kelly...lot of bleeps in that original message you sent...now that we cleaned it up and posted it...set your alarm a little earlier...we did a whole segment on the Giants/Dodgers results in the first segment of the show, the "A" block, as we call it, right after we led the show with that East Coast matchup of Lakers/Rockets
Jay Crawford (11:42 AM)
exactly, which means lebrons numbers came as an 18-24 yr old. even more impressive. he didnt have a few yrs of college to season his game...
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Tell these guys Jay they are trying to debate with the man who does the stats thing for a living are you kidding me? lol
Josh (Milw,Wi)
Hey guys what do u keep under the First and Ten desk? Ne thing? there has to be something down there. Chips, water or maybe that pink duct tape, Dana?
Jay Crawford (11:44 AM)
its top secret josh. but there is duct tape yes....
Demetric (Orlando)
Jay....Jordan played in a different era in his first 6 years than Lebrons. Jordan played in a era of great teams; meaning the whole team was loaded with talent night in and night out. In lebrons era its a superstar game with a tema having 1 or 2 players and the rest are scrubs
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Dennis I really don't think that Clevland will lose even one game by this time next week then what ?
Jay Crawford (11:45 AM)
im amused by that angle dee.
joe (atlanta)
cleveland wont lose to atlanta,i am a hawks fan.but they are terrafied of lebron. The hawks are under the bed with their tales tucked
Aaron (Denver)
Jay, you are avoiding the rule change portion of Cedrics statement.
derrick (iowa)
could the Cavs have an easier road to the finals this year??? they better make the most of this!
Whitta (ohio)
im just wandering how many times skip has broken his side of the table the way he is always beating on it with his open hands when u notice it thats all u notice when watching its kinda funny
Jay Crawford (11:45 AM)
because his pt is valid. there is no debating it. i will say jordan had a different set of rules too.
B.D. (KY)
Jordan didn't need tattoos to win
Kevin (North Carolina)
Jay, Lebron is the next greatest player, but not yet. Right now he is extremely entertaining and a very great basketball player. In 10 years, we will be saying LJ instead of MJ.
Will (WV)
Kelly....get a grip baby! Your Dodger/Giants talk is old news from this morning....get up earlier like the rest of us.
Jay Crawford (11:46 AM)
well said kevin!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
It is time for the City of Clevland to get a Championship. The city is starving for one, Just ask Jay.
Jay Crawford (11:46 AM)
45 yrs paul! wow!!!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Hey Jay were you a Clevland Barron Fan?
Ryan (Champaign, IL)
I love how people just keep doubting LeBron and the Cavs as they just keep looking stonger and stronger.....
joe (atlanta)
its not hard for lebron to play on the road in atlanta half the arena is cheering for him, lets see what happens when he goes to boston or LA
Jay Crawford (11:46 AM)
i was. and then they were gone...lol
Jason (Kent, Ohio)
Jay, would you like to get a fellow Clevelander a internship at ESPN this summer.
art (country club hills illinois)
the mavs are to blane for the game 3 loss. u play to the whistle the mavs didnt and melo and crew did enough said.
Jay Crawford (11:46 AM)
jason, contact the hr dept here. its a blast!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Jay I think we should start the bring the Barrons back campaign.
AJ (Charleston)
They have EARNED the easiest road, thats what happens when you win 66 games and get home court throughout.
Jay Crawford (11:47 AM)
id love that!
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
This "first 6 years" garbage needs to stop already. No way LeBron is going to win the next 6 titles. MJ went to college and missed a year with a broken leg. MJ also had to go thru the abuse of the Bad Boys. Show me a comparable team in today's NBA that abuses other teams. You can't, because the NBA is soft for guys like Kobe and LeBron to thrive in. Kobe and LeBron would be Clyde Drexler in that era. Like I said, I'll take Jordan's top 10 moments and put all 10 up against Kobe or LeBron's #1 moment.
Jay Crawford (11:48 AM)
we can only wait and see. i believe you're right steve. i'd give lebron 3 at best, but thats why we love sports...watch and win.
Aaron (Denver)
Jay c'mon. 88's Pistons with Isiah, Dumars, Adrian Dantly, Rodman. '09 Hawks Joe Johnson, Mike Bibby and Al Horford....do the math...and I did not mentions the Celtics or the rest of the east for that matter.
Jay Crawford (11:48 AM)
of course not. the bulls beat other teams too during those runs...some not so good teams as well.
Josh (Milw,Wi)
jay is talkin right now to the blind guy. Who's typin for Jay. This isn't authentic stuff, come on
Jay Crawford (11:48 AM)
this is jay! i taped that 2 weeks agao... notice the clothes change...
AJ (Charleston)
No faith, Ohio guys never lie!
Dana Jacobson (11:50 AM)
AJ, I've known a few ohio guys to lie!!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Jay I am a diehard Philadelphia fan (Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, Sixers) so I know your pain being a Clevland fan and hope you get a Championship from the Cavs this year.
Dana Jacobson (11:51 AM)
Paul...what if the sixers were playing? Just kidding, very gracious of you
AJ (Charleston)
Shhhh or Ill have to grab the pink duct tape.
Dana Jacobson (11:51 AM)
Nice AJ! The pink duct tape was awful by the way...
james (california)
Ohio???? isnt that where they grow potatoes?
Dana Jacobson (11:52 AM)
oh james....
Kevin (El Paso)
you got a little brown on your nose Paul.
Chad (Las Vegas)
If the NBA suspends Cuban it just shows what pansies they are. C'mon people he told someones mom that her son was a punk. I am sure she has heard worse about her son. Who cares what Cuban said.
dennis (St.louis)
paul, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! the cavs have beaten Detroit(who didnt even want to be in the playoffs) and atlanta( who are full of injuries) wait until they play a real team. I gurantee no sweep against Boston, and because the nba is a game of matchups Orlando will beat the cavs! you heard it here first!
Gino (Scranton)
That was a tremendous story with the blind batting instructor
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Dana do you think that Michigan will ever be better then Ohio state again?
Dana Jacobson (11:54 AM)
Paul - YES!!!!!!
Josh (Milw,Wi)
i need some credit for remembering the duct tape, lol
Dana Jacobson (11:54 AM)
josh - credit.
Tom (River North)
Potatoes are from Idaho, James. In Ohio they grow useless, poisonous nuts, otherwise known as buckeyes.
Dana Jacobson (11:54 AM)
tom, that just made me laugh. thank you.
Jeremy (Dallas, TX)
I've been starving since 530 am, anyone got any good lunch suggestions?
Dana Jacobson (11:55 AM)
jeremy me too!! when you're starving i say go cheeseburger and fries. if you wan to be healthier, go cheeseburger and salad
Dave (Detroit)
Dana, you are a homer. Michigan hired their "Charlie Weis". Admit it.
Dana Jacobson (11:56 AM)
Dave, when asked for my opinion you bet! BUT wouldn't a homer say michigan's better now. We aren't. We have a long road ahead but we will be back on top and then at some point OSU will be...it's how it goes!
Demetric (Orlando)
Sorry Dana, but Michigan is become the new Miami of (FL).....when did we ever have to say that. It was Miami and everyone knew what you meant...thats how far they fell off the wagon and sadly so will Michigan
Dana Jacobson (11:57 AM)
demetric, cyclical. it all comes back around
Kwamel ((Houston, TX)
iM FROM houston, but im a big CAVS fan, Lebron has become a force that cannot be contained
Chad (Las Vegas)
It's Big 10(11) football. They suck anyway, whether it is OSU, UM, of PSU they all suck.
Kevin (North Carolina)
Honestly, a lot of people will cease to be Lebron fans forever if he leaves Clevland. He is prob the greatest thing in Cavs basketball history. To just up and voluntary leave for another team, what a letdown to your fans.
Jeremy (Dallas, TX)
LEbron=MVP
dirk (chi'town)
i bet Skip likes hearing all this talk about Lebron being the greatest!!!
Dana Jacobson (11:57 AM)
chad - have some coffee and relax.
Kevin (Columbus)
App State. Enough said.
Dana Jacobson (11:58 AM)
kevin - yep. app state, toledo. but that's the past. we're talking future
RJ (Boston)
MIchigan is the new Oklahoma, not the new Miami. The Maize and Blue will be back. No way they go the way of Miami. No way.
Revis (Florence, KY)
If buckeyes are so useless, how can they keep killing wolverines?
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Blackhawks vs Redwings, Western Conference Finals. I can't wait!!!
Dana Jacobson (11:58 AM)
steve it will be awesome
Jay Crawford (11:58 AM)
aloright room! really enjoyed the chat today. great points all. cedric, keep pushing! good stuff! thats why i LOVE sports. the talk that goes around is endlessly entertaining. rock on chatters! live like its the last day of school and we'll do it again tomorrow.
Umor (detroit mi.)
Kevin with the michigan krytonite,
Paul (Denver)
How does coffee make anyone relax?
Dana Jacobson (11:58 AM)
paul in the morning...it helps me chill
torrey (louisiana)
same past same future
Dana Jacobson (12:01 PM)
torrey - those who don't learn from the past are condemned to repeat it... time will tell
Revis (Florence, KY)
You know what's really relaxing, Dana? A giant Philly steak sandwich. mmmmmmmm
Kevin (North Carolina)
Dana, I love you. You understand that one day, The state of Michigan will rise again. I can see it now. Michigan football with a BCS National Championshiop and the Lions with a Super Bowl Appearance. And when the Pistons get a coach, they will be back in the Eastern Conference Finals. Book it. 2012.
Dana Jacobson (12:02 PM)
ok, Kevin, i'm not crazy!!!!!
Mark (ATL)
How is that half a national championship in like 50 years treating you, Dana. Is that why you only want to talk about the future?
Dana Jacobson (12:02 PM)
Mark I'll talk past, though i'd like to forget last years. Find me a program that doesn't have some down years...come on!!!
Tom (Chicago)
I don't even like Ohio State but they dominate Michigan every time. It's not even pretty any more.
Dana Jacobson (12:03 PM)
tom, how quickly everyone forgets michigans dominant years.
Kevin (North Carolina)
Lol. Thanks Dana. I am a big Michigan fan and I watch you every morning. Go Red Wings!!
Dana Jacobson (12:04 PM)
thanks kevin and go wings
Kwamel ((Houston, TX))
Dana, Who will win the NBA finals???
Dana Jacobson (12:04 PM)
kwamel - i picked the lakers at the start, now I say cavs. LA is too iffy to me. No i'm not bandwagon jumping just telling you who i think really will win now
RJ (Boston)
Dana, clearly your readers are too young to remember Anthony Carter, Desmond Howard and even Charles Woodson... sad.
Dana Jacobson (12:05 PM)
RJ now i feel old!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
I think the Lions are on the right path now
Dana Jacobson (12:06 PM)
I hope so...and paul from earlier, your eagles will be interesting to watch this year. My dad is from philly and he's so unlike me, he'll claim the eagles and lions (i grew up in detroit we were there awhile) and now in miami this past year b/c the lions were so awful he added miami to the list. (because he can watch all the games) The man is 77 so he's forgiven
Chad (Las Vegas)
Football is cyclical. I am an LSU fan and I know the SEC won't be on top forever. It wasn't that long ago that Nebraska ruled football, then Miami. Where are those programs now? UM will once again be on top. Dana just hopes it's in her lifetime.
Dana Jacobson (12:06 PM)
Chad, well said
craig (n.y.)
yeah the lions are on the path... to nowhere...
Dana Jacobson (12:07 PM)
craig they are at nowhere, gotta head somewhere else
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Anthony Carter had did great in the USFL. Do you remember that Dana?
Dana Jacobson (12:08 PM)
Paul i don't remember a ton of AC outside of michigan - his jersey was the first anyone ever bought me.
DON (illinois)
WILL THE BLACKHAWKS WIN AT HOME TONIGHT?
Dana Jacobson (12:08 PM)
don, melrose says yes! playing too well to blow it at home
Bob (Chicago)
I love the Lions. There's nothing better than watching them lose on Thanksgiving.
Dana Jacobson (12:09 PM)
bob, i am old enough to remember a few comebacks on thanksgiving. of course my dad had us in the car to beat traffic but i heard tehm on the radio!!
Kevin (North Carolina)
How come the NFL pays players like Matt Stafford Millions of dollars when he has never played the the NFL and players who are in there 4th and 5th season dont get half of what Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez are getting.
Dana Jacobson (12:09 PM)
kevin, b/c its a messed up system. they need a rookie cap, new cba hopefully will address som eof the issues.
Gino (Scranton)
Dana, i don't know how you can say that philly will be interesting to watching. They've lost so many pieces including their defensive and emotional leader in Dawkins. Plus, they still didn't get an elite receiver for McNabb.
Dana Jacobson (12:11 PM)
Gino, jeremy maclin should be interesting on offense. The jason peters addition is another that i think has huge upside. Dawkins is a loss. but who was the 2nd round rb they picked up? can't think of his name, another good addition.
Adam (Chattanooga, TN)
Dana, to stray from the OSU/Michigan convo, if you had only one HOF vote, who would you vote in. Manny, Clemens, or Barry Bonds?
Dana Jacobson (12:11 PM)
adam that's tough, i'd be between bonds and clemens and probably go bonds
derrick (iowa)
the only thing i'll miss on Thanksgiving is Maddan's tur-duckin or whatever he called that turkey /chicken combo..
Thom (Atlanta)
How come the same people get their comments posted???
Dana Jacobson (12:14 PM)
thom b/c they were at the top, and i was being lazy and not scrolling back on pages
Brian (Michigan)
I think Barry Bonds took steroids and I think Barry Bonds is the greatest player I have ever seen. I don't love him, but he's in my mental HOF.
Kwamel (Houston, TX)
Clemens all the way on that??
Aaron (Denver)
Adam, not a doubt, Barry Bonds. Top 5 player for years before he transformed.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Lesean McCoy from Pitt dana
Dana Jacobson (12:15 PM)
paul thank you...yes. and matt and a few others who sent it in. as you've heard me say...too many names and too many sports!!!!! oh and tom too. he'll be a help to westbrook
Kevin (North Carolina)
Between the 3, Clemens Bonds and Manny, None of them. They are all cheaters and whatever they have done, it doesnt matter. How disgusting is it to think a player like Bonds, who abused the game with drugs, would be along side players like Ruth, Joe Dimaggio and others who got in the HOF on pure talent, not pure steroids.
Dana Jacobson (12:15 PM)
kevin, question was you have to put one in. sorry
Cedric (Knoxville)
Dana, why A-Rod did not get a 50 games suspension like Man-Ram dont you think that it is unfair?
Dana Jacobson (12:16 PM)
cedric, the players who tested positive in that anonymous testing, from which arods' name was leaked, were guaranteed no punishment. mlb couldn't do anything
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Let's not forget the Eagles also got Andrews as a free agent to sure up the O-line and also Hobbs at CB and the TE from the Gators who is supposed to be a stud. The Eagles as a team average went down 2 years per player. Now they have a solid young team.
Dana Jacobson (12:16 PM)
paul hobbs at corner was a good add as well.
James Denver
Dana did Mark Cuban or Josh Howard get suspended or fined yet?
Dana Jacobson (12:16 PM)
james no, suspensions are usually early afternoon 2.3ish
Thom (Atlanta)
Oh, lol I can't believe that worked hahaha. Well Dana, did you see Big Baby push that kid after hitting the GW shot lol?
Dana Jacobson (12:17 PM)
Thom i didn't but i'll look again
Jason (Boston)
I know Melrose thinks Carolina will end it Tuesday night at home, but do YOU think the Bruins can muster it up and win this series?
Dana Jacobson (12:18 PM)
Jason, I do. They need to play like yesterday though. I think Carolina got overconfident
Aaron (Denver)
Kevin, don't fool yourself. Ever heard of "Greenies"?
Dana Jacobson (12:19 PM)
And on that note folks...i'm outta here. sorry gotta go drop off gifts for two birthday parties - a 3 year old and a 6 year old - ahhh to be young again! take care folks. talk with you tomorrow
