Antonio Williams (2:02 PM)
Good afternoon everyone. The signing period is winding down but there are some big fish still out there to catch. Let's get right to it!
Jabbar (fresno, ca) [via mobile]
Where do think john wall is going, and do you think that it will be a good fit for that team?
Antonio Williams (2:05 PM)
Thanks Jabbar, there's quite a few Wall questions so let me address it. Wall and his camp seem to be keeping it close to the vest. There's alot of speculation out there and unamed sources saying things. When there's a recruit of this magnitude still available this happens. While Wall has a ton of options it may be hard to beat the ultimate closer in John Calipari and Kentucky.
Brendan (Buffalo, NY)
Hey Antonio, St. Bonaventure found a great player out of Canada in Andrew Nicholson (A-10 Freshman of the Year). Do you think that success could lead to the Bonnies getting an edge with other top-end Canadian players?
Antonio Williams (2:07 PM)
Brendan, St. Bonnies have had pretty good success with Canadian kids and I think this will continue.
Jeff (Washington, DC)
Can you please comment on Deshawn Painter's decision between NC State and Maryland? Who has the edge? And where will he be most needed? Thanks!
Antonio Williams (2:10 PM)
Thanks Jeff. It's hard to say who has the edge right now. He just left Maryland and loved his visit. Both teams could use his athleticism and energy. Although both teams do have solid big men coming in next year. It's worth seeing where he ends up.

How will marcus jordan perform at the college level? could playing at UCF will earn him a trip to the NBA?
Antonio Williams (2:14 PM)
Marcus will be a very successful shooting guard that can play some point at the college level. His toughness and versatility will help him immensely. While making it to the NBA may be a tall order, playing right away at UCF will benefit him and allow his confidence to grow and who knows where that will take him in 4 years.
Topeka, KS [via mobile]
What do you think of Kansas' recruiting class and its chances of a championship?
Antonio Williams (2:17 PM)
With the addition of Henry to an already impressive class, Kansas has the makings of one of the top teams in the country. A class that has Elijah Johnson, Thomas Robinson and Henry, the Jayhawks have three outstanding prospects with a world of potential. Include Collins and Aldrich who decided to stay another year and I'd say their chances are pretty good.
When the updated class rankings come out will Kentucky be the top class?
Antonio Williams (2:21 PM)
As impressive as UK's class is (and could be with Wall) I still believe it will be hard for them to top North Carolina's impressive haul. Stay tuned for ESPN.com's updated class rankings to be released next week.
What's the latest on Vander Blue? Heard that he has decommitted from Wisconsin and is leaning towards Marquette?
Antonio Williams (2:22 PM)
Brian, this hasn't been confirmed yet by Vander. We'll wait and see before commenting on it.
bob manhatta KS [via mobile]
Does k states recruiting class help then mak it in the top 25?
Antonio Williams (2:27 PM)
Thanks Bob. When you factor in a Top 15 kid like Wally Judge into a quality class with depth and add that to the good players they have returning including Denis Clemente and Jacob Pullen you have the makings of a Top 25 team.
Jak st louis [via mobile]
Wgat makes x. Henry such a great player?
Antonio Williams (2:29 PM)
Jak, Xavier has almost unlimited range from the perimeter. The fact he's lefthanded also helps him catch defenders off guard. If guys push up on him he has enough athleticism and ball handling skills to get to the paint. Given his strength and NBA-ready body, Henry is a serious matchup problem for perimeter defenders.
Antonio, what do you think of Terrence Jones? Where will he end up?
Antonio Williams (2:35 PM)
Good question, Mike. Jones is a very athletic forward who uses his size and versatility to play both forward spots. His shooting ability with range extends to the 3pt line and allows him to play away from the basket. His quickness gets him by slower defenders in the 'turn and face' game. He has a tremendous amount upside and has yet reach his potential. Oregon, Cal, Georgetown, Oregon St. and UNC are all coming after him hard. It'll be interesting to see if an East Coast school can steal him away from the Pac-10.
Martin Wade (One Tree Island, Phillipines)
Where does UCLA's class rank and can you give some analysis?
Antonio Williams (2:40 PM)
Martin, right now the Bruins are ranked No. 10 in ESPN.com's class rankings. Howland continues to bring top talent to Westwood. Honeycutt will provide scoring from the SF spot. Moser gives them a versatile wing guy who can play and defend multiple perimeter positions. Lane has the ability to stretch defenses with his outside shooting. Nelson is a hard-nosed power forward in the mold of Ben Howland himself. Stover is a shot blocking presence who has surprising vision and passing ability for a big.
Tom (Phoenix, AZ)
When the updated rankings come out, how do you think Arizona's class will rank?
Antonio Williams (2:43 PM)
Thanks, Tom. Finally, with some stability at Arizona the Wildcats have made significant strides in the '09 class. Adding Parrom might help them to land another NYC product in Lance Stephenson. Right now they're just outside the Top 25 but if they get Lance they'll move up for sure.
Peter (Camilla, GA)
What incoming freshman do you think will make the biggest impact this year? Who's your "dark horse" incoming freshman who could surprise the nation this year?
Antonio Williams (2:47 PM)
That's a good one Peter. I think the freshman with the most impact will be Derrick Favors at G. Tech. Avery Bradley will be a close second because Rick Barnes runs a guard friendly offense. As far as a dark horse, watch out for Jamal Coombs-McDaniel at UConn. The kid has an incredible bball IQ as well as having terrific talent.
Josh (NY, NY)
Antonio, I remember watching you play in college for the Judges, UAA was tough. Predictions on which prospect this year having the best pro career
Antonio Williams (2:50 PM)
Thanks Josh! The UAA was a tough D-III league. I'll say Derrick Favors will be the best pro out of this group.
Robert in Mississippi
Antonio, with the addition of Sidney how high do you rank Mississippi State's 2009 recruiting class? Thanks.
Antonio Williams (2:53 PM)
Robert, stay tuned for the release of ESPN.com's top recruiting classes next week. After having signature recruits either leave early (Mario Austin) or in the cases of Jonathan Bender, Travis Outlaw and Monta Ellis who never even showed up, coach Stansbury finally has the big time recruit to try and catapult his program back to national prominence.
Do you think that John Henson will start for the Tar Heels next year? And who do you think will be our starting shooting guard?
Antonio Williams (2:59 PM)
Gabe, thanks. I don't think Henson will start right away next year. They'll most likely use him in the same way they used Ed Davis. He has stiff competition at that position. Look for a starting 5 of Drew, Thompson, Davis, Ginyard, and either Graves or Strickland.
dek, NYC NY
any chance for the terps to get Lance stephenson still
Antonio Williams (3:00 PM)
Dek, it doesn't look that way. 'Sources' say the Terps are out, but stranger things have happened.
Antonio Williams (3:02 PM)
Thanks to everyone for all the great questions. We'll be back next week to put a bow on the 2009 signing class. Check back with us at the end of next week for the new ESPNU 100, Super 60 and final '09 class rankings.
