Please mention the first place rangers. First place in era for may. No one would have thought the rangers would have the best defense in baseball!
Moderator (9:39 AM)
early bird gets the worm, Joel, consider the Rangers mentioned...
Larry (houston texas)
How do i get in the chat?
Moderator (9:40 AM)
post something interesting Larry, and you're in
Darick (Hyattsville, MD)
Alot of the talk this morning will be about how Lebron had to take over late in the game because the rest of the team stood around and watched. I watched the game and it look to me like he didn't want to pass! It seemed to me that he was feelin his self after seeing that Orlando couldn't stop him, and decided to try and do it his self!
Moderator (9:41 AM)
we're all over that in First Down today Darick
Moderator (9:42 AM)
also got Shaq on the show today, talking about his future broadcasting career
Moderator (9:43 AM)
we'll also discuss the red hot Yankees in 1st down...will they be in first place by June 1?
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Darick, I told my wife too much dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble SHOOT going on. I blame this on the FANS, they gave them a 15 point half time lead and at one point I heard on the TV Van Gundy shouting instructions, NO WAY can you give up home court like that.
Moderator (9:44 AM)
interesting scapegoat you got there, Kerry
curt columbus,in
hey skip i am on board with you lebron choked last night it just shows he cant play any d keep up the good work skip we are on your side
derek;(portland oregon):
Give skip a break. Every day when he says the Magic can beat the Cavs everyone gives him heat. He just proved a lot of people wrong with the Magic victory. Listen to skip. He knows his basketball.
Selena (Louisiana)
Good Morning. Magic/Magic fans got the last laugh last night. I was with Skip the whole time on this one. Amazing. LeBron got to trust his teammates and pass the ball. Can we say ball movement??
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
I am here to face the music though mod...
jason (cleveland, Ohio)
I think lebron tried to help skip out by missing crucial free throws down the stretch....
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
No scapegoat, the fans blew it though...
jason (cleveland, Ohio)
As for the yankees....After seeing how well A Rod improves that lineup, they are going to be tough to beat....until the playoffs that is
Jarad (Boston)
David Ortiz got a curtain call for hitting home run number 1 in a 3-0 game in late May.. Our expectations have came a long way since the 2004 playoffs.
Larry (houston texas)
Cant wait to see shaq take on skip today
Umor (detroit)
Jarad be happy, We tigers fans been waiting for the D_Train to pitch well for a year. the wait maybe over.
vincent(south carolina)
who was watching the same game i watched last night, lebron did everything he could to help clevland win,but got no help from his bench
jason (Chicago)
Teixera has played so much better since Arod came back.. Maybe the pressure is starting to come off and if thats the case, as much as I hate to say it, the Yanks are finally going to play at their level of potential
jason (cleveland, Ohio)
kerry, the fans were not the ones who missed the free throws late in the game
jason (cleveland, Ohio)
HOWEVER, this loss cant be blamed too much on james because williams and west combined for 10-32 shooting :(
johnnie (niagara falls, new york) [via mobile]
jay ive agreed with skip all year about orlando they match up better against the cavs and lebron has the center version of himself waiting for him when he comes to the paint. i have the lakers winning it all but if orlando wins beat the cavs magic will win it all.
Umor (detroit)
Look, Cleveland built their team around lebron. they just forgot that orlando built their team around howard. Bron team is up and coming but so are the magic. They are their rivals the next few years. And they know it. you don't win championships, you take them. And the magic just took it to the Cavs.
Dana Jacobson (9:58 AM)
morning folks!
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
Shaq on the show today, YAY!I haven't been this excited to watch First take since Lil Wayne was on it.
Ray (Inverness, Fl)
Did Lebron travel with 44 seconds left in the game or was that another non call like all his blocks/fouls?
Umor (detroit)
Wha about the pevey trade rumor. will SD really trade him to the white sox?
Dana Jacobson (9:59 AM)
ray they don't call traveling in the nba
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Van Gundy said something very interesting in on of the timeouts. He said that Orlando has been there before (close games in the playoffs) and the Cavs haven't. Clearly that showed last night.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
The Cavs didn't lose this game. They clearly got beat by Orlando. LeBron is too full of himself to realize one important fact. No matter how good he is, he cannot win the championship by himself....impossible. He's been reading too many press clippings about himself.
Umor (detroit)
Morning DJ, Verlander got another 9 Ks.
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Lewis took 2 steps as he caught the ball on his last shot, still not travelling in the NBA, Dana's got that right.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
I think Lebron should guard Rashard put Varejao on Hedo!
Aaron (Denver)
Last night exhibited the difference between Kobe and Lebron...Each was exceptional and carried his respective team on his back, but only one is a closer
Craig(Buffalo,NY)
So Lebron, Vick, and Lebron today
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Umor.....Orlando is not built around Howard. That's the big difference between the two squads. Orlando has much greater balance between Turk, Lewis & Howard versus the one-trick pony Cavs.
Viva(Indianapolis IN)
I wonder if LeBron will be ripped for taking 30 shots and scoring 49 points yet his team loses I mean if Kobe is going to be judged by that standard so should LeBron. Its only fair he's a superstar too.
James Denver
Ray where you been its called his crab dribble. The King explained this to us earlier this season its a crab dribble not a travl when LBJ does it.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
The Magic win! Their front line is something else!
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Craig, a little better than... FAVRE, STEROIDS, FAVRE, FAVRE
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Turkoglu excellent job of facilitating.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
It is time for the NBA to change the traveling rule. Add a half a step to it as they let it go anyway.
Will (WV)
Well, finally.....we know that the Cavs are human and Orlando is a well oiled machine!
Will (WV)
So could we be looking at a Howard/Carmelo ordeal at the end? Wouldn't that be something for the critics!
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Cleveland needs to BENCH WALLY and play PAVLOVIC. He's quicker, longer and can hit those shots..
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
What a great game the Magic played last night. I just don't understand why Labron was happy to hold onto the ball and just take jump shots in the 3rd quarter and the start of the 4th while the lead slipped away.
andy (harrisburg,PA
skip is great he tells it how it is even when he knows he will get hammered for it. thank god for one person on tv that is actually honest
Craig(Buffalo,NY)
Who wins Game 2 tonight?
Cesar Miami, FL
guys, last night just proved why Kobe is better than LeBron, i love Lebron but all that him being the best over kobe makes me sick. Yesterday he proved he couldnt do what kobe did the night before, win the game for their team.
Aaron (Denver)
Viva listen to the Doug Collins, as long as a scorer is averaging about 1.4 to 1.5 per shot it is considered effective. Lebrons shot to points ratio was solid last night. Kobe gets critcized on his 35 shot 30 point nights...
Dana Jacobson (10:09 AM)
craig i liked denver in game 1 so i'm going to carry it over to game 2.
Selena (Louisiana)
I can't see the show today because of work, but I bet Skip is going to have a field day with LeBron. His ego on high because he was right.
Dana Jacobson (10:10 AM)
sorry selena
Moderator (10:10 AM)
how much trouble are the Cavs in?
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
I would love to see Howard playing Melo in the finals but the NBA would hate it.
Will (WV)
Congrats to Skip and the ORlando win! I cannot wait to hear him chirp this morning! He called it!
Joe from haskell oklahoma
I don't think cleveland should be worried. the first game does not make the whole series. for all of you who think the cavs should change their stragedy should think about dallas vs. golden state a couple of years ago. dallas played small ball to try to stick with the warriors. wrong move. if you're the leader in your division you should stick to what got you there. their d lost them that game, and going small doesn't help them.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Oh, one thing about the Cavs previous opponents versus the Magic. The degree of difficulty of the Cavs first two opponents (Detroit & Atlanta) is about a 2. So naturally they were not tested nor should their victories be considered in the same comparison as Orlando, Denver or LA. Now that they're playing real competition with a degree of difficulty of at least 8, we're really seeing what they're made of.
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Cesar, They asked that to Van Gundy and he answered, "You pick first, I will be happy with the one that's left"
Kadeem (Columbus,Georgia)
Skip I guess you were right about Prince James when he passed up the winning shot
Steve (INDIANA)
Cleveland was cruising and let the double digit lead got in their head. They are awake now and Orlando is done.
Michael Kim (10:12 AM)
Good morning, everyone... Still waiting for Lebron to take the game-winning shot. Wow. Can't believe he passed on the two-footer.
Moderator (10:12 AM)
Steve the optimist's take on last night
James Denver
Will I dont know how comming back from a 14 point defecit proves your a well oiled machine. If Magic led buzzer to buzzer you might have a point but they were getting there butts handed to them in the first half bro. Thats not a well oiled machine. They showed they dont always panick and have heart to come back not give up.
Aaron (Denver)
Verajo needs to change his defensive philosophy doubling off of Turk or Lewis spells trouble for the Cavs.
Viva(Indianapolis IN)
And yet the Cavs still lost despite LeBron scoring over 40 points my point is Kobe scored 40 the other night and his team won the game. Yet there are articles saying him being "selfish" is what got them the win. Doing what a superstar does and close out games is considered selfish? I guess only when Kobe does it. I just think everyone should be judged by the same standard. LeBron is a superstar and considered the best in the game apparently. He should be able to take the criticism to go with the praise.
Ed (Lancaster)
Cavs lost because Lebron won't let anyone else on the team get in any kind of rhythm.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Skip you look fresh today haha nice Orlando colors. You called it!
Dell (Fort Lauderdale)
Thats why kobe is better then the king kobe alwasys that last shot wat was he thinking. thats why skips the man
Todd (Maine)
The Cavs are in a lot of trouble if they don't find a way to guard a very skilled front line from Orlando. They need to find a way to switch people around to get better defensive matchups, maybe put LBJ on Lewis
John, Austin
When are we changing the subject?
Aaron (Denver)
James you have to be impressed by Orlando taking that huge punch in the first half and holding their course. Well Oiled Machine maybe not, Impressive Performance, absolutely
Craig(Buffalo,NY)
Dana, you should know by now that i was asking about Pens and Canes. I put HOCKEY first
mark(manhattan ks)
I love it when skip is right about Princess James...best player alive...yea right!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Labron is special he just hasn't proved he can win the big games yet. He really needs to pass the ball more if the Cavs want to win this series. He has to get the other players on his team more involved in the game.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Hmmm, Skip has a good point. Maybe the "King" was scared to go to the hole in the final shot in fear of having to make FT.
Michael Kim (10:15 AM)
John, tired of Lebron already... Ok, so what's your Favre question/comment for today?
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
My thoughts exactly, Skip. LeBron can't be stopped when he goes down the lane. Why give it up to Mo Williams or Delonte West (combined 28 points on 32 shots) when you could get the basket or the free throws? Take control, LeBron. That's the way to win the game.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
The problem with the Cavs is they need Lebron on Rashard.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
LEBRON IS TOO UNSELFISH especially with the game on the line!
Scallinno (Florence, South Carolina)
Skip is a man who knows what he speaks(sometimes). LeBron is a better ALL-AROUND PLAYER, but Kobe is BETTER OVERALL. Kobe NEVER has a man 3 feet away from him when he has the ball, but LBJ is allowed to shoot jumpers.
armond (pittsburgh)
lebron showed up last night his team didnt help him out......... skip you are for sure the number one hater in the sports world...what more did he need to do?
vincent(south carolina)
skip is dead on when he said lebron should have finished strong, but u can't lay all the blame on him
Cesar, Miamim FL
all the hoopla needs to end, Kobe and Wade become cold blooded when the game is on the line and LeBron doesnt, Wade got stolen for the MVP, cause if Wade was in Lebron's shoes yesterday Orlando would never have won.
Aaron (Denver)
Viva there is no doubt, Lebron had possessions where he held the ball waaayyy too long and cost his team, but overall his point production was solid.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
I still think the series will go 7 games, so I don't think the Cavs are in trouble...but I had and continue to stick with Orlando winning the series
Michael Kim (10:17 AM)
I'm with Skip today. Lebron needs to be the finisher or closer that Kobe was in Game 1. Kobe willed the Lakers to a victory.
Moderator (10:17 AM)
James just got a shout out on the air
Moderator (10:18 AM)
derek from Portland just got a shout out too
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Here's my prediction. If LeBron scores over 40, they'll lose because that's a signal that either he's not getting his teammates involved or they're performing badly.
Cedric (Memphis)
I didn't see the Cavs celebrating, dancing, and full of shenanigans yesterday. Now, if they don't do a lot of fancy dances tomorrow night then you know they are nervous about the Magic.
Aaron (Denver)
Gotta be happy for Papi...he's good for the game.
jason (Chicago)
yeah Dana, do you have any word on that Peavy trade rumor? I would LOVE to see peavy come to the Sox
Rick (Ft. Lauderdale)
Maybe Lebron and Co. should take practice a little more serious and stop with the half court shooting contests...
Fred (Greensboro, North Carolina)
Lebron was standing under the basket. What other play was he suppose to make in that situation?
John, Austin
The Yanks are hot, David Ortiz finally has as many homers as Russ Ortiz and Dana's hockey and baseball teams are playing great. Plus serious issues with Shoenweis and Mickelson. Lots more than the NBA to get to today.
Todd (Maine)
LeBron does need to take charge in spots, it's good that he likes to get teammates involved, but when you are the best player on the court you need to take control in crunch time.
Dana Jacobson (10:19 AM)
jason I don't i'll try to see if i can get anything foryou
Craig(Buffalo,NY)
Armond, shouldn't you be more worried about SID THE KID and the Penguins
mark(manhattan ks)
When is the shaq interview?
Dana Jacobson (10:19 AM)
mark, second hour. and yes i promise its happening today. we had to tape it yesterday when he was able to get to the studio
Michael Kim (10:19 AM)
John - I hear you but Lebron and the Cavs losing the way they did and losing at home where they were the best in the NBA this year is a big story.
mark(manhattan ks)
You know how you can tell Bron-Bron is reading his own news clippings? Becuz he told the magic they were playing like witnesses...what is that about?
Dana Jacobson (10:20 AM)
mark, stan van gundy had the witness quote not lebron
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Big Pop up got one wow.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Skip we called it... Orlando may shock the world!
Aaron (Denver)
Know this, Jordan, Bird, Magic, West, Kobe and Wade...not a one of them would be able to look themselves in the mirror is they were in the paint and dished for a loss.
Will (WV)
So is anyone watching the Pens game tonight? NO NHL....anyone
Larry, Ohio
Oh know! Cavs lost! We have seen the trick shots that they have been shooting in practice. It paid off with Mo Williams 3/4 court shot last night. But, what about using that practice time on defense. It's a good highlight and story for sportscenter, but it will not win a title. Wake up call for the Cavs! Every round you advance the teams get better! Take care of business first and you can have fun after winning the TITLE!!
Umor (detroit)
Cavs lost cause they thought the magic was gonna give up after mo shot. This is the finals, nobody giving up anything in the playoffs.
John, Austin
Bigger upset, Magic over Cavs or Kris beating Adam on American Idol?
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Mike Kim Big Papi must have been in the chat yesterday finally a long ball.
Michael Kim (10:23 AM)
Funny about Papi, huh? Wonder if he'll go off now?
Zach Pittsburgh, PA
both cavs and magic looked good last night im just glad the magic pulled it out. im hoping tonight the pens go up game 2 and the nuggets tie things up!
Jarad (Boston)
Can you imagine how different the conversations would be if Mo Williams had hit the shot at the end of the game. It was really close.
James Denver
I kill the master of panic worst then anyone. He rallied his troops and they put on great 2nd half. Its hard to beleive Stan wont panick and ultimately cost Orlando series.
Cedric (Memphis)
Dana, explain to me when you guys stop each other from singing and say we have to pay for it. Why?
Aaron (Denver)
Real story is the Yankees pitching. CC has been dealing, Burnett is heating up, Phil Hughes showed up last night, and Wang is throwing scoreless inning in his minor league stint...Look out here come the Bombers.
Mark nj
Why is Orlando winning a shock? They own the Cavs in the reg season.
Dana Jacobson (10:25 AM)
cedric, great question sorry. see most music is owned and not public domain - star spangled banner, stuff like that is public domain, but others like i said are owned by a company/person - the rights that is. So if you use more than i think 7 seconds of it you have to pay for it. and trust me it's expensive!!!
James Denver
Before that talk starts Adam I will sqash it. You and Skip werent the only 2 people to pick the Magic. This is how Skip thinks hes the only person to think Reggie Bush wasnt every down back. What you and Skip are the only 2 people on Earth to notice the head to head record.
Mike D. Niagara Falls, NY
Can anyone tell me why the Refs tried to take the game away from the Magic? The Refs clearly tried to take the game early from the Magic in hopes that they would not be able to rally back into it. Dwight Howard should have only had 2 fouls that game, clearly he got 4 calls against him that were not fouls. Magic will win the seris because they are the better team.
Michael Kim (10:26 AM)
Mark -- good point. Go thru the schedule and look at their losses. A lot of good teams, including Orlando. No surprise.
Dana Jacobson (10:27 AM)
mike its a conspiracy. kidding. it's not. no one is ever happy with nba officiating and it's never perfect. superstars get calls, home teams do. its been going on for years, look back to jordans bulls and it was lopsided there too. pistons-lakers bad boy days i used to hear everyone grumble it was in LA's favor.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Dana,I just watched Mike and Mike before First and Ten and still haven't got my Brett Favre news for the day yet. I feel like I have Favre withdrawls :)
Dana Jacobson (10:27 AM)
brett favre, brett favre, brett favre. feel better paul?
Dana Jacobson (10:29 AM)
can't find the post maybe our moderator put it up but someone asked when kobe dishes out to fisher why is kobe still clutch. couple things - is it the same situation? (time, d howard out of game, etc) AND fish is more clutch on his own than mo or west...and i don't think you'd call kobe clutch in that situaiton. kobe is clutch. he's taken and made a million last minute shots, made more than he's missed i'd guessed in big games. lebron isn't at that level. i'm not skip, but lebron should have done exactly what skip said last night. kobe doesn't pass it out unless he has no other choice in that situation
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Why aren't we talking about LeBron's 2 blocks on Dwight Howard? Or Anderson Varejo's Blocks on Howard or the OLD MAN Z's Block on Howard? Thought LeBron wasn't going to the rack skippy...
Dana Jacobson (10:30 AM)
kerry, cause they lost. and bron didn't go when he needed to!
Steve (INDIANA)
Mike D. in Niagara Falls-- Maybe Tim Donaghy is not the only one. The NBA wants Kobe vs. LeBron. They got Lakers vs. Celtics last year now didn't they?
Dana Jacobson (10:30 AM)
steve, please.
Donavan (Central Lake, MI)
I think its safe to say the "supporting cast" has crowned Lebron as they stood around in the 2nd half waiting for James to deliever. Maybe they should have set up a rack of balls at half court on the sideline and let LBJ granny shoot them to the win, they seem to get a lot of practice at it.
Dana Jacobson (10:31 AM)
donovan - in fairness all teams do that. lakers do it around kobe too. what i mean is, it happens a lot when you've got a superstar and that's when those teams lose their leads and can't make a shot. its a complacency everyone falls victim to
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Steve, stop it.
Steve (INDIANA)
Hey Paul, in West Palm Beach, Brett Favre woke up and put on his pants this morning. I am guessing jeans. Watch for more Favre breaking news.
Dana Jacobson (10:31 AM)
no doubt wranglers steve
Johnathan (Suitland, MD)
Why is Kobe's pass to Fisher considered the correct play and Lebron's pass to Delonte' considered him being scared to shoot? Fisher was struggling just like Mo and Delonte' were but yet Lebron's not clutch.
Dana Jacobson (10:32 AM)
jonathan, you'll laugh that i don't remember but was it the same amount of time? once a game is done, i'm done...don't remember. again - i don't think kobe kicks it out unless he has no choice. lebron could have and should have driven the baseline
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Lets face facts Dana. The Lakers do much better when Kobe gets the other players involved in the game. The same goes for Lebron and the Cavs.
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Hey MK, Papi hit a home run? How many pitchers in the National League have hit dingers this year? WOW, 1 round tripper...
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
The Shaq interview is taped-darn! I hoped you asked him if he was interested in quarterbacking at Syracuse.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Can someone please update me on Mike Vick I haven't seen an update for 10 minutes.
Aaron (Denver)
Stan Van Gun...was giving solid advice in the huddle about chipping away and his team responded. The MOP is for real!
Dana Jacobson (10:34 AM)
paul, like i was just saying - all teams do. AND i do think everyone onthe team should be able to make a clutch soht. BUT you know on a team who has ice water in his veins. bibby was it for the kings when i was there, webber wasn't. you have to get everyone involved but if you're going to be a jordan or kobe, you take that shot
Dana Jacobson (10:34 AM)
let's not forget steve kerr's shot...other bulls won games for chicago in jordans time BUT mj always wanted to take the shot.
John, Austin
After BF put on wranglers he plans on leaking a press release saying he's going to buy the Vikings, make himself the coach and trade for Mike Vick. Then he's going to sit back and laugh at how we talk about this for a month.
Dana Jacobson (10:34 AM)
nice john, very nice
Drew T. Arkansas
some say the Cavs let it slip away...I believe the Magic took the game away. They were not like Detroit or Atlanta. Orlando knew they could win that game. The Cavs played pretty much exactly like they did in the first half. Orlando was the team that elevated their game. It didn't matter if the other Cavs role players were missing shots because it didn't matter in the first half.
Dana Jacobson (10:35 AM)
drew - major credit to van gundy and that team, that battled. had to take advantage of what they were given...and not given for that matter
Steve (INDIANA)
Sorry Dana, I just had to. No truth to my comment. I try to be humorous. Post my next comment and you'll see!!!
Cedric
Yeah Dana, you make a good point about it being that way for a while. But, why don't the stars of every team get the calls. I think Howard should get more respect than that. Actually as good as Kobe is I don't think he gets enough calls. Back in the day, you couldn't let the thought enter your brain that you were gonna touch MJ or they blew the whistle.
Dana Jacobson (10:36 AM)
cedric, can't explain it all the time. i'll say this we don't see every regular season game and the guys have to be in positions to get calls. shaq used to get some but could have gotten a million more - same situation with dwight as the big man, i think
Aaron (Denver)
Dana you are on point...Jordan would even tell teammates (he told both Kerr and Paxon) how he would get to a spot where he knew THEY would have the best look...I think they hit them out of fear!
joe (haskell oklahoma
true dana, but maybe, just maybe, lebron is trying to be lebron. not jordan and as specially not kobe.
Michael Kim (10:37 AM)
I know it's only one homer for Papi. But that's the story, too. Only one homer for a guy who was known as one of the best clutch power hitters in the last decade.
Cedric (Memphis)
LeBron passed it because he didn't have anything left to get a shot up and he felt he would miss the shot. Also he had missed a lot of free throws in the 4th so he didn't want to have to go to the line and make the shot. Kobe made the right play. Kobe had 3 Nuggets in front of him and a guy wide open.
Dana Jacobson (10:37 AM)
joe, as he should. BUT even i have to admit i can't think of him on the level as jordan if he's not taking that shot. great, his own level of greatness, less selfish than jordan or kobe, more pure talent even...but i want him to take the shot.
James Denver
So is Carmelo not clutch because his team couldnt get him the ball down the stretch?
Dana Jacobson (10:38 AM)
carmelo isn't clutch if he doeesn't take the shot when he gets the ball.
Michael Kim (10:38 AM)
Cedric, it's about the mindset and mentality. Kobe doesn't pass that shot. He takes it. And he probably makes it. But if he misses, no one is complaining that the star player is taking the shot in that situation. With Lebron, we'll never know.
Donavan (CL, MI)
That sounds like an argument against Lebron's greatness. Seems like all I have been hearing is how he makes everyone around him better, while there is no doubting his talent, but you also can't doubt his lack of leadership in a big game. Atleast MJ and Kobe deliver when the rest of the team shuts it down.
Mark nj
Lebron doesnt have time to shoot game winners, he's too busy practicing half court shots with his shirt off.
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Michael Kim, GO TO YOUR ROOM. Best Clutch Power Hitters... Do the Math, without Manny his numbers were AVERAGE at best. If you got to face Manny or David Ortiz, I'd pitch to Ortiz 100 out of 100 times.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Yes Mark, IMHO if Cleveland had been in the Western Conference they wouldn't have won 66 games, probably more like 56, which is still a fine regular season record.
Will (WV)
Wait.....did I hear someone say FAVRE?! Lets not ruin the day with that kind of talk. FAVRE FREE THURSDAY!
Mark nj
Did everyone miss that huge Ginobli-esque Flop that Lebrick made?
Michael Kim (10:41 AM)
Kerry -- you need to go to YOUR room. Check what he did and the threat he presented. Yes, he and Manny together were a great duo. But they worked off each other.
Mark(Manhattan ks)
If i was Mike Jordan i would call LeBron and ask him to change his jersey number because he's embarrassing the 23. Kobe went with the 24 and now we call him Mr. One over Jordan...maybe Bron should go with number 20.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
So Mike Vick is home now. I hope he gets a fair shot to make a comeback.
Selena (Louisiana)
Hmmmm . . I wonder if Jerry West would still pick LeBron?? If LeBron doesn't come out a winner, he'll change his mind.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Lebron's game winners have to be inbounded under their own basket with 2 seconds left so he can shoot 3/4 court.
Michael Kim (10:42 AM)
I still think Jerry West said what he said to motivate Kobe.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
The Vikings should bring in both Favre and Vick, let Vick sit for one year behind the legend.
Umor (detroit)
Texas got a triple play, but the tigers got the win.
Aaron (Denver)
Carmelo IS clutch. Look back at 'Cuse he took every big shot the tourney had to offer as a freshman...and was ice cold against the Mavs
Dana Jacobson (10:43 AM)
donovan, i dont' think that doesn't mean lebrons a leader b/c he doesn't take a clutch shot..just not clutch. he's this teams leader
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Lebron had the ball takes it to the cup and realizes oh &$#% I can't take this shot let me kick it out and be unselfish.
Michael Kim (10:43 AM)
Melo is doing a great job of putting his name in the conversation for crunch-time players/shooters/scorers.
Will (WV)
Michel Kim....Big Papi will go on a tear now!
Jonathan (Atlanta)
To quote the great philospher, Bill Parcells, "lets not get the anointing oil out yet." Everyone crowned LeBron the greatest of all time and he hasn't done ANYTHING yet. Let's bury that conversation until after he wins a championship (if that ever happens).
CULI MACC (DAYTONA)
I KNOW SKIP WAS ALL SMILES WHEN LEWIS HIT THAT 3 LAST NIGHT.. YOU KNOW HOW SKIP LOVES TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO..
trevor deland, fl
The cavs are done magic in 4
Michael Kim (10:44 AM)
Jonathan, you sound like Skip!
Kevin(Milwaukee)
Why haven't I seen a replay of Cortney Lee posterizing Lebron? No network wants to show King James looking silly!!!!
Aaron (Denver)
Mark (nj) even Pietrus was shocked!
Steve (INDIANA)
Will, in WV, it should be Favre Free Friday, it just rolls off your tongue better.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Selena, West also said that for a last shot game on the line he would still take Kobe.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Hey I said what Skip is saying about Howard 15 minutes ago and it didn't get posted.
Aaron (Denver)
If Lebron walks away with no title this year, will we start the A-Rod comparisons?
Michael Kim (10:45 AM)
By the way, Stan Van Gundy needed this win more than anyone!
Revis (Florence, KY)
I tried to get a post on the chat today, but I fouled out because I'm not Lebron.
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
Did I hear Rob compare Mo Williams to Scottie Pippen! First off people don't realize how under rated LeBron James is. that's right I said under rated, second Scottie Pippen was a hall of famer and one of the 50 greatest players. LeBron has been the best player on one of the worst teams for a long time now. Mo is indeed an upgrade to Boobie Gibson whom which he went to the finals with as his starting point guard. Kobe has had the one of the most dominate players in NBA history and one of the best all around teams in history when he won his 3 titles, since then what has Kobe done? think of it like this if you really want to compere. Question in 15 years if the cavs win the tittle this year whom other than LeBron james will we remember from this team?
Dana Jacobson (10:47 AM)
jeremy he was putting mo in the scottie role which is accurate, not saying he is scottie pippen. saying he needs to be the scottie to lebrons mj
Michael Kim (10:47 AM)
Good line, Revis -- but you're getting blasted for passing to Adam in Tampa
Sean (TR NJ)
Michael Kim agreed he needed this one bad
John, Austin
I loved what Stan Van said last night, Rashard put the ball in the basket so now I'm a good coach.
Bill buffalo ny
Skip is rite on most things BUT how can he take credit away from the yanks n wut AROD avg is .197 SO WUT they are not even pitching to him and he still has 5 hrs already..plus he make tex get sum pitches to smash outta the park yanks will win the AL east..Sry Skip ur swinging n missn more than BIG SLOPPY!! still luv ya tho skip
Adam G. Tampa, FL
What Mike Kim?
Dana Jacobson (10:48 AM)
bill you are right - rob pointed that out too. not just in the BA, gotta factor in the rest. plus he gets partial credit for texiera right now
Michael Kim (10:48 AM)
It's all good, Adam. Just bringing you into teh mix that's all.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
MK, Van Gundy needs more than this one win. If the Cavs come back to win in 5, I think Van Gundy is still gone. I think he needs the Magic to go at least 6 now that they won the first one.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Dana, what's the definition of an amazing team leader...... Michael Jordan.
Michael Kim (10:49 AM)
I'm just saying he needed a comeback win to help scrub some of that criticism about his "panic" methods.
Revis (Florence, KY)
Adam is usually clutch, though. It can't rain all the time.
Dana Jacobson (10:50 AM)
adam, all different sorts to be honest. some by example, some with their words, some just by being. an amazing one i guess has it all..but you can still be a great leader and only be one of htose.
Mark nj
MJ was also much smaller than Lebron. He couldn't bully his way to the hole everytime. He had to work, shake people & knock down consistant jumpers. Lebron's a great athelete & good BB player. Jordan was a good athelete & a great player. Thats the diff.
Umor (detroit)
Melo doesn't need to be clutch. he got mr. bigshot to be clutch.
Mike Hill (10:52 AM)
one thing you can guarantee in the n-b-a....stars are going to get calls down the stretch...it's the league's way...not saying it's right but it's the way it's done
bruce (evanston wy)
the best line i heard was stan van gundy last night said they had it easy all playoffs we been here before and his team came back what a line
Andy (Nashville, TN)
Hmmm, wonder if I praise LeBrick I'll get on chat. Notice you don't post Anit-Brick comments as much as you do the good ones.
Dana Jacobson (10:53 AM)
andy there aren't as many. no conspiracy here buddy.
david (charlotte, nc)
i thought buffalo was in NY....sounds like bill is from another planet... although i agree 100% with him, can't you guys fix his comment so we can all understand it lol
Cedric (Memphis)
Dana, SVG can't complain to the refs. Your ESPN co-worker, and his brother ruined that coaching luxury for him years ago. If he complains about the refs he might get fined 1 million dollars by association.
Johnathan (Suitland, MD)
I can't believe people are upset with a great player whose first thought is, "pass-first" when he passes (or the ball rotates) to a wide open teammate seconds after he just hit a 3. That's a clutch play, and if he had taken that layup on 3 people, then Skip and Rob would kill him for not passing to the open man.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Hey Jeremy, did you just land from another planet?! All we've been hearing over the past month is how great LeBron is. Where you been at dude?! If anything, the King is overrated. He's a great player but until he starts racking up some rings (more than 1) we need properly put him in his place, one of the best players in the league currently and that's it.
mark (manhattan ks)
Nice of you to wake up and join the chat Mike Hill
Aaron (Denver)
Mike Hill...thanks for the insight...ya know the sun rises in the East and sets in the West...shocking...
Aaron (Denver)
Andy plenty of Le-Clank hazing gets posted
Wesley (Atlanta, GA
Dana do you think the magic can win in clevland again in game 2?
Dana Jacobson (10:55 AM)
wesley, i dont think they will win game 2, it's cleveland
Craig(Buffalo,NY)
Who wins game 2 tonight? Pens or Canes
Mike Hill (10:56 AM)
Mark...I have been sleep walking today...need a 5 hour energy. Aaron...I'm deep brother!! LOL
Dana Jacobson (10:56 AM)
craig i'm going pens. i was mad no game last night, flipped to vs and was surprised
John, Austin
Dana, Tigers on the prowl in the Central?
Dana Jacobson (10:56 AM)
john, pitching is looking good huh?!
Michael Kim (10:59 AM)
Peavy to the White Sox -- details ahead
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
I hope the finals last extra long I hate it right after the finals and Baseball is the only major sport still going. I dread the sports dry spell :((
Dana Jacobson (11:02 AM)
padres and white sox have agreed to a peavy trade folks
Dana Jacobson (11:02 AM)
sorry if i'm late on that, just had a moment to check on the computer here..i was too busy chatting with ya
Chris, Troy,NY
Peavy won't accept that trade I don't think. He wants to win...better chance is in the NL West, not the AL Central.. Plus he's said he doesn't like a media circus...Chicago isn't New York, but it's not San Diego.. My opinion...Peavy stays a Padre...For now.
Dana Jacobson (11:02 AM)
and chris is right this is pending approval
jason (Chicago)
YES!!!!! Its for sure?
Dana Jacobson (11:03 AM)
no jason, peavy has to approve
kato (duluth, GA)
viva, i salute you! i'm glad to see that someone else notices the media's hypocrisy, when it comes to the treatment of kobe vs. lebron. if kobe took 30 shots in a loss, he'd be crucified (yet again). as it is, media loudmouths (mike greenberg, for example) put a negative spin on kobe's 40 points on 28 shots, BUT THE LAKERS WON! lebron scored 49 on 30, in a LOSS, and that's so much greater?
Umor (detroit)
Switching channels between wings and tigers is great.
Mark, NJ
You know SKips face lit up like the Grinch when Lewis nailed that shot.
Dana Jacobson (11:04 AM)
kato i beg to differ. depends on the shots. with lebron right now we are talking about one specific shot. if kobe had done the exact smae thing, exact same situation he'd be getting heat today too.
larry (houston)
Im goin with the pen all the way
Steve (INDIANA)
I was so focused on ciphering Bill's message for David that I forgot to add my name. Darn, it was borderline brilliant too.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
I think he will approve unless he doesn't want to be in the AL.
Donavan (CL, MI)
Not sure he has a choice
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
OMG PLEASE ENOUGH WITH MIKE VICK!!! This story is not even interesting! He did his time he's out now let it go...cover the story when he's done with his time in the half-way house and an NFL team shows interest but until then this should not get this much play.
Dana Jacobson (11:04 AM)
steve - what was the funny post you sent, did it post and i missed it? send it again.
lamar(san francisco,ca)
Dana, If we do get a Kobe vs Lebron finals.. Who do you think will get the bulk of the superstar calls?
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I guess Peavy will have to get over his Ozzie Guillen issue for that trade to be final.
Drew (Buffalo)
Dana, can you put a good word in with Molly Qerim for me?
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
Princess James, has a lot of work to do 2 be the next or better Jordan. So I hope someone took a picture of his driving opportunity to finish! He can then add that to the photo album w/ all his Pre-game team pictures!
Dana Jacobson (11:05 AM)
sorry drew i don't do social netowrking
Umor (detroit)
Dang!!! Peavy to the white sox. I didn't want that. Tiger Fan.
*Lew* ChiCago
Throw the Lew a bone...... no love
Dana Jacobson (11:05 AM)
bone
david (charlotte,nc)
yea i'm sure peavy wants to head to that hitters park from that huge pitchers park in SD....nothing to do with the winning...sox are a better team...padres are going nowhere
Luke (Auburn. NY)
Is Skip capable of saying something nice about the Yanks...constant hate, he forgets as he brings up dice k comin back, Wang, Bruney, Posada were all hurt and on now on the mend the Yankee freight train is startin to roll
Dana Jacobson (11:06 AM)
luke b/f the season he said yanks pitching better than red sox, hows that
Johnathan (Suitland, MD)
Lamar, they both will. But Kobe will probably get that 7th technical and miss a game.
Umor (detroit)
Did Mike kim just do a snaglepuss inpersonation.
Steve (INDIANA)
I am a Cub fan but Peavy can win in the AL Central. Who will beat the White Sox with Peavy? Sorry Dana(Tigers), Jay(Indians), and Michael(Royals), but White Sox will win division if Peavy agrees to the trade.
Larry (Houston)
Carlos is right...lets let vick get on the field b4 we start judging him
Viva(Indianapolis IN)
Actually it isn't the last shot one is talking about its the amount of shots we're talking about with Kobe vs. LeBron. With LeBron he gets a pass even though his team loses but with Kobe he's criticized even though his team won. Again which is it?
aly (Miami, FL)
this is not myspace man
justin(ohio)
The Magic seem like they're on a mission and Lebron just looked tired at the end of the game and last night showed that you cant carry the whole team on your back...James needs a lil help
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
The "real" John Ireland is a deceased actor-a good one actor at that. This guy is an imposter. Have him arrested at once.
Drew (Buffalo)
I thought we were tight, Dana?! What's up with that? I'm cheering for the Blackhawks.
Steve (INDIANA)
This is for David in Charlotte-Skip is right on most things, but how can he take credit away from the Yankees. Who cares if A-Rod is only batting .197 when his presence is the reason Mark Teixeira is getting good pitches to hit and he is making the most of it. My Yankees will win their division.
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
Lakers VS Nuggets Game 2. I hope it doesn't take either Kobe, or Carmello to score 39 or 40 to win games b/c if so, this will not be good for the game of basketball! (Team game transforming into a individual sport.)
James Denver
I thought Trevor Ariza was your Melo stopper LA fans?
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
If Peavy wants to play for a winner he should go to the Phillies as all they need is a pitching help to win it all again.
Chris (Troy)
I love the Lebron/Kobe talk...but no one is talking about Mello...Most underrated player?? might be...
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Hey wait this isn't myspace oh man I hit the wrong button on my computer again.
Will (WV)
X-factor in tonight's game in the west....the refs!
Tom (River North)
John Ireland kind of looks like Agent Smith from The Matrix.
lorrell thomas (compton ca)
if lebron is suppose to be better than kobe than why isnt he held accountable for not closing out the game like kobe did...and wheres the bench that was better than la
justin(ohio)
Two great series this is what the nba is all about and im loving it
Johnathan (Suitland, MD)
Arthur, basketball is the most individual of all the team sports, with hockey in the argument. Every player plays the game with his own style, so to be mad that the game is individual goes against its very foundation.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Wesley, now THAT would be an upset, Magic winning both first games in Cleveland.
Tom (River North)
Is Jay off today because the Cavs lost and the possibility of it being 46 years without a Cleveland title is staring him in the face?
Dana Jacobson (11:17 AM)
tom, ouch!!! No he's on vaca this week
Larry (Houston)
Hey dana or mike...when yall had ron harper on last week. did he have an accident or have some condition that was causing him trouble to speak?
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Shaq holla at me lol
jason (Chicago)
Am I the only person in the world who feels that shaq is nothing but a goofy clown and not funny in any way?
Revis (Florence, KY)
Hey Mod, what do you do with the posts that you don't put up on the board? Do you keep the funny ones and laugh at them later?
Moderator (11:19 AM)
busted, Revis
Matt (Council Bluffs)
Dana, you should invit Pau Gasol to the show and have him change his number so he'll be known as "PG 13"
Michael Kim (11:19 AM)
Sorry, guys... Been working details on the Peavy trade. Sources tell Peter Gammons it's a 4-for-1 deal. White Sox waiting for Peavy's OK. They expect to get an answer today. White Sox prospect Gordon Beckham is NOT involved.
Andy (Nashville, TN)
YES!! I been waiting for this shaq interview
Mike Hill (11:19 AM)
How can you not love Shaq??? Diesel doing his thing...I'd love to have him here.
Aaron (Denver)
Johnathan (Suitland)...Baseball is easily the most individual of all team sports...Hitting and Pitching are pure individual battles.
Randy (St. Marys, Pa)
Justin.. 2 great series? The NBA dont care about those unless the Cavs and Lakers win.
Calvin W
Shaq will have his own comedy on tv where he plays a DJ. It will be called Radio Shaq.
Michael Kim (11:20 AM)
Calvin, how long have you been waiting to use that?
Dana Jacobson (11:20 AM)
Larry he's actually always been a stutterer. He has it under control at times and had moments where it was worse and better in that interview, obviously.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Shaq is funny. But I think some of the things he does are so dumb that it is funny.
Matt (Satellite Beach, FL)
Kazaam is going to make a great commentator. Look out Chuck here comes the Diesel.
Umor (detroit)
aww Shaq a natural. I wish he had a show insyead of T.O.
Chad (Germantown, MD)
That's a TIGHT shirt Shaq lmao
aly (Miami, Fl)
yes jason, you are the only one, IN THE WORLD.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Geez, Shaq's footage was horrible. He needs to stick to the color commentary as an analyst.
Tre (Baltimore MD)
The magic bout to hurt all u Lebron lovers feelings cause there goin home and lakers to
Mike (Denver)
Oh weird...imagine that. Laker homer John Ireland saying that this is a "must win" for the Nuggets...
Andy (Nashville, TN)
TO knows how to look at the camera when he reports. TO > SHAQ
Donavan (CL, MI)
Did I miss something? Did Shaq retire? All I have heard about Shaq is his broadcasting and MMA career.
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
Jason in a word...yes
Dana Jacobson (11:22 AM)
Mike he has a very valid point right now. seriously. denver doesn't want to go home down 0-2.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Jason, I am with you, Shaq gets is so popular he gets credit for being funny when he is just being arrogant.
Mark(manhattan ks)
PG 13 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Larry (Houston)
haaaaa calvin
jason (Chicago)
Dana how are you not offended by Shaq comparing himself to you and saying he went through the same processes as you? I guarantee shaq is not in that seat without his 'name'
Randy (St. Marys, Pa)
I used to like Shaq till he said Dwight Howard was a Shaq wanna be
D-Wade (Wade County)
hey diesel... miss ya bud!
Chris (Troy)
Hahaha...Look out Skip...Shaq's looking to take your job!!
Umor (detroit)
Thats right Shaq, fall asleep on T.O.
Matt (Coucnil Bluffs)
i'd rather have Dwight Howard on my team then Shaq
aly (Miami, Fl)
Shaq to replace Charles
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Shaqtuss wants Kobe in the finals??? My oh My how time heals all...
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Shaq doesn't need broadcasting school he has a major following, Shaq = major ratings.
Mark(manhattan ks)
OMG is shaq giving KOBE credit for being a great player? The end is near!!!
James Denver
Im posative Kobe would sponsor pay for Shaq Brock Lesnar fight.
Andy (Nashville, TN)
Hey MIke, I wasn't being sarcastic I love Shaq, he's a funny dude.
Aaron (Denver)
I love how the Diesel's mood completely changed when asked about the NBA finals...
jason (Chicago)
Micheal, any idea on the 4 departing Chicago?
Matt (Council Bluffs)
the Lakers WILL sweep Denver for the second straight year
david (charlotte, nc)
aly in Miami seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, or am i crazy?
Viva(Indianapolis IN)
No Jason I don't care for Shaq that much either but he could be making worse headlines so I'm not that bothered by it.
Dana Jacobson (11:23 AM)
jason, because shaq will never do what I do. honestly. he may be a commentator, but i couldn't do that. i wouldn't do nba color. athletes are in a good spot to try to get broadcasting jobs - but that's good! we want them. I respect that he went to this school Jalen rose, one of the hardest workers in the building watches everything and critiques its stuff...i have great respect for that. he's a mulitmillionaire and still does it!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Tell Skip he has a year or so before Shaq takes his seat.
Michael Kim (11:24 AM)
Jason - no word yet who's going to SD in the trade . It's pitching.
Mike (Mobile)
Dana you were right the shaq interview was great
Dana Jacobson (11:24 AM)
mike thanks, he was a blast - i thought.
Tre (Baltimore MD)
Shaq don't do dumb stuff. thats the best center ever. whatever he do is right
aly (Miami, Fl)
danny, you can also join that lonely boat with jason. he is a champion, animated and not Kobe
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Y'all need to get Shaq to face off against Skip.
Dana Jacobson (11:24 AM)
listen up hook!!!!
Matt (Satellite Beach, FL)
Everyone is all looking forward to Kobe vs LaBron. Personally I would much rather see Melo vs Howard. Last night shows that LaBron needs some humbling, and Kobe is getting run down.
Mike Hill (11:25 AM)
The Shaq interview was great!!
Kobe (LA)
Keeop watching Shaq, I'll do it this year. I never needed you.
dave (ohio)
lebron is the best stat line kobe is the best player lebron drove everytime hoping for a foul take the jumper...oh yeah he doesnt have one
Steve (Mastic NY)
SHAQ vs SKIP in the OCTAGON! LIVE ON UFC PPV!
Luke (Auburn NY)
Shaq doesnt do dumb stuff? Never seen that Kobe rhyme huh...best center ever, shoulda seen Hakeem Olajuwon play
Mark(manhattan ks)
LETS GO SKIP!!!! CRUSH THE BIG MAN!!!
Mike (Mobile)
I think Shaq can take him
david aka D-Wade (charlotte, nc)
shaq is being so fake right now....this isn't him... this is an act
Matt (Satellite Beach, FL)
Skip is going to be Shaqified
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
HAHA watch out Skip! Your gonna get Shaq-fu'd!
Andy (Nashville, TN)
GET HIM SKIP!!!!!
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Uh oh!! Skip laying down the gauntlet.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Shaq says Skip shouldn't talk baskball becasue he didn't play. How can Shaq talk football, Hockey, and Baseball when he comes on the show in October??
Umor (detroit)
great Shaq interview Dana
Mike (Denver)
Of course the Nuggets don't want to go down 2-0, but the Lakers are supposed to hold their home court. So even if the Nuggets do go down 2-0, they haven't lost at home in 2 months. If they can hold home court then that would make it 2-2. I'm just saying for Ireland to call it a "must-win" is just another example of the liberal overuse of that term.
Moderator (11:28 AM)
fair point Mike
Will (WV)
Thanks Dana for the Shaq interview!
Jeremy (Dallas, TX)
Can anyone imagine Shaq playing firstbase and up to bat at the plate!? Ha
Johnathan (Suitland, MD)
Aaron (Denver): What I mean by "individual" is that each player plays with his own individual style. No two players have the same form on their jumper, and each player has their own tendencies. I know baseball has different pitching windups and batting stances/styles, but it's easier to categorize baseball players than it is with basketball players.
mark(manhattan ks)
That was a great interview. Is it October or November 21st. i think you said both dana.
Jake (Crossville, TN)
Shaq would be good, but TO opposite Skip would be great!
Revis (Florence, KY)
If Shaq gets out of line, just bring up his Steel movie, or Fu Shnickens.
Moderator (11:29 AM)
lets not hold her to the exact date, Mark...but October
Mike (Mobile)
I think that orlando has a great chance to win as well
Chad (Germantown, MD)
U can't overlook the fact that Orlando was up 40 on Cleveland earlier in the season. Orlando in 6
Andy (Nashville, TN)
THANK YOU SKIP You are right it is NOT a fluke I said the same thing.
Mark(manhattan ks)
I'm marking my calender right now!!!!
Tre (Baltimore MD)
So what if Carmelo wins the championship and Lebron doesn't? then who is better
Will (WV)
The pressure has been on the Cavs all season long and now its on them even greater! Everyone has the Cavs winning it all and noone had Orlando getting out of Boston!
Mike (Mobile)
Not a fluke by far
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Dana can you please help me with something?? Rob just said if somebody is going to Poo Poo the Cavs. Is poo poo a new tv term? I only used that term when I changed my little babys diaper.
Moderator (11:31 AM)
another fair point, Paul
Andy (Nashville, TN)
TO across from skip? That's a fight waiting to happen. Better have armed guards.
Michael Kim (11:31 AM)
Here's more on the Peavy trade: Buster Olney reports LHP Aaron Poreda, one of the White Sox's top prospects, is one of the players in the deal going to SD.
Donavan (CL, MI)
Think we need to keep in mind, not only did Howard foul out at the end, the Magic have gone through these playoffs with their backup point guard.
Byrd (Raleigh, NC)
NO way Orlando wins in 6... LeBron's the king for a reason
Moderator (11:31 AM)
Byrd, whats the reason???
Scott (Colorado Springs)
Mike Hill lets talk NFL. I got to hang out with some Broncos yesterday and they told me Knowshon is looking awesome in training right now. But he is battling 12 other RBs. HAHA
Mike (Mobile)
Cleveland looked terrible when lebron went out of the game last night
aly (Miami, Fl)
bench? you mean spectators right.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Orlando has Lewis, Turkoglu, and Howard all scorers, all can score over 20 a game, the Cavs have Lebron and Mo the sidekick.
Mike Hill (11:32 AM)
It doesn't matter how many runinng backs they have in there...when it's all said and done...Knowshown's gonna get that rock in Denver....
Adam G. Tampa, FL
I see Orlando and LA in the finals.... Bynum vs. Howard
Michael Kim (11:32 AM)
Good point on Magic... This team might be the favorite to win it all if they had Jameer Nelson healthy.
jason (Chicago)
Jonathan, each of those pitching styles and set ups play a huge role into where a defense is going to set up, how a catcher is going to deliver on stolen base, etc...Team Chemistry is HUGE in baseball
Matt (Satellite Beach, FL)
Come on Dana, give Orlando some credit. They came back from 16 down on the "unstoppable" Cav's home court.
Michael Kim (11:33 AM)
Jason -- thought you might be interested to know that my Hot List Fantasy team's name is Team Kimistry.
david (charlotte, nc)
lebron may very well be "the king"....but the king is nothing without his army... i think lebron put up 49? where was the army? maybe they should focus more on basketball instead of PRE-GAME celebreations, and different ways to flex to the crowd
Luke (Auburn NY)
The Padres should be embarrassed they make more money in profit sharing than they spend on payroll the owner should be fired..if you cant afford players you cant afford a team, just like in real life if you have a porshce and you cant make the payments you sell it. Stupid, pathetic owners...
Adam G. Tampa, FL
The Magic can win again in Cleveland, play a box and one on King James with Mickael Pietrus following him everywhere he goes. Also the Magic would dare Cleveland to shoot all game long and their jumpers are only good from half court and beyond!
Jewls (New York)
Mo Williams has been a Bust so far in the p;ayoffs
Michael Kim (11:35 AM)
Eric Karabell, Brian Kenny, Jay Harris, Dari Nowkhah are among the others with teams in this hotly-contested league. We have major debates and bragfests in our meetings and thru emails. Pretty funny.
Bruce (Ohio)
What good is a 49 point performance if you don't win the game. It was inexcusable. I have a bad feeling that the Cavs may have been too good to be true.
AJ
Where was all the cavs dancing and showboating in the second half? Way to man up and take the game winning shot Lebron...
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
i hope someone took a picture of lebron not finishing, so that can be in the pre-game photo album!
CULI MACC (DAYTONA BEACH)
TONIGHT IS A MUST WIN FOR NUGGETS..
david (charlotte,nc)
NEWS FLASH TO LUKE.... we've all known the padres are ditching payroll because of the owners divorce.... it's no secret what's going on in SD
Jewls (New York)
Shaq is going to bring it when he ready to battle with Skip
Goose (Chicago)
The WhiteSox are becoming the Astros...they have no chance of winning, soon to have no prospects...desperate move by a desperate team.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Dana & Skip....in an era where we have a black President, we have to force folks to interview a diverse slate of candidates for front office jobs in the NFL
Mike Hill (11:37 AM)
Only thing wrong with the Rooney rule is that some of the coaches and now g.m's will be used as tokens....sometimes it's about show....it's good for others, so that they can at LEAST be interviewed...let's not forget Mike Tomlin wasn't a SERIOUS candidate going in to interview for the Steeler's job in the beginning but he blew them away with his chance.
Will (WV)
The Rooney rule will only give minority coaches/gms to set themselves up for failure. They will be given an interview just to meet league guidelines...yet no shot at the job!
Donald Hill (Portsmouth, Va)
I agree with Rob. A league thats majority black should have more black executives. I'm glad the NFL are making strives but how is it going to take
jay from indianapolis
look people the cavs had 8 days off and they couldnt wait to play and when they did get to play they spent all of it in the first half and when the second half rolled around they were tired
tom nj [via mobile]
Sure Shaq can talk football. Hes been playing it in the NBA his whole career.
Donavan (CL, MI)
I hate to admit it, but have to agree with Rob. Sad that there has to be rules in this day and age set to curb discrimination in hiring. We should be way beyond this.
Will (WV)
Parker.....minority...not black!
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Will is right. I think all this will do is be a nice photo op for some owner who isn't really interested in doing the right thing.
Mike (Mobile)
Great point mike
Dana Jacobson (11:40 AM)
i saw some posts, just want to say - i agree you shouldn't have to force the owners to interview black candidates. BUT if they're not doing it, about time to force their hands. It would be great if they did it on their own, they should. Sad they don't. BUT again...if no one forces change sometimes it won't happen. mike tomlin might not have his job if not for the rooney rule. We have a black president, it's about time.
James Denver
Mike Hill I bet you anything that Knowshon isnt even the Broncos starting running back opening day.
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Rob-right Dana and Skip wrong. If Vikings want to hire a black GM why does that person have to get interviewed by teams that don't want him. Wouldn't the Vikings still hire him even if he wasn't interviewed by anybody else?
Michael Kim (11:40 AM)
Will, part of what the Rooney Rule does is introduce candidates to team officials for future reference. Maybe they don't get hired for the current post, but the introductions and knowledge gained for both sides may lead to a future connection.
Aaron (Denver)
Getting minorities involved in the interview process is a valuable first step towards correcting the problem. Mike Hill, on point with Tomlin, as the process moves forward teams will see the talent they have ignored for years.
John (Austin)
Hey, Goose can't talk bad about our Astros, only we can talk bad about our Astros!!!
Mike Hill (11:40 AM)
James...how much ya got?? I need some extra change. LOL
Aaron (K.C.)
Michael Kim, Your Mizzou Alumni status will be officially revoked the next time you allow ANYONE nemed skip to smear our good name.
Matt (NY)
Don't love how after Lebron does not do any more show boating when his team is getting smacked up in the fourth. All he and the cavs were doing were complaining about missed foul calls on their end
Michael Kim (11:41 AM)
Aaron, my gold card status is safe at Mizzou. Skip knows all about Mizzou and has a great deal of respect for the school - especially the J-School.
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
Opportunities are always needed, but are often never taken seriously for minorities. It's sad and disappointing.
John (Austin)
Speaking of Rooney, how is he handling his star linebacker's stance on not wanting to go to the White House? Wasn't Rooney a huge Obama backer during the election?
Dana Jacobson (11:42 AM)
Calvin, you're missing the point. Teams aren't interviewing enough black candidates. The league is trying at least to say start looking at these guys not just the same folks who look like you. Should you parade around to jobs that are filled, no. Teams should be interviewing then deciding.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Here's the problem though, Dana. They can interview a myrid of candidates, if they (the owners) aren't interested in doing the right thing then the Rooney Rule is mute.
Sean (Spokane)
Check it...this year you couldnt miss the playoffs with me...Kobe..tell me how the playoffs taste! (Shaq)
Umor (detroit)
Hey some of these NFL owners still belong to exclusive clubs. They want their front office to be like their boys they hang with. See the lions. You need a rooney rule for GM's
Mike (Mobile)
I agree Dana
Michael Kim (11:42 AM)
John, wasn't that explained -- in part -- by his fear of flying?
Dana Jacobson (11:42 AM)
Jonathan - you can't change the way someone thinks. BUT just b/c one isnt' interested doesn't mean someone else won't.
mark(manhattan ks)
Knowshon WILL start for the broncos and then he'll be on IR by week 2. Happens to almost every Broncos back
CULI MACC (DAYTONA , FL.)
BRO IS RIGHT.. THERE IS NO SENSE IN THE NFL MAKING THE TEAMS INTERVIEW BLACC APPLICANTS WHEN THEY'RE NOT GOING TO GET HIRED ANYWAY..
Larry (Houston)
OH...i can say ALOTTA bad things about the astros im from houston...bad players, bad management bad front office
Dana Jacobson (11:43 AM)
culi - why do you assume they wont? the lions situation was one deal...pittsburgh was another and the guy got the job.
drego (tampa)
i like the coversation on the the last take with skip it something that need to be talked about
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Mike Hill: Let me ask you this. Did the Steelers interview Tomlin because they wanted or because they had to?
Dana Jacobson (11:43 AM)
calvin, can it be a combination?
Kevin, Fort Huachuca AZ
To Rob's point that 70% of the NKL is black and that and should be given more oppurtunity to run the show and coach, I fully agree. However, what about a rule that states you have to draft white skilled position players? Why not be fair and equal there?
Wesley (Memphis)
Get rid of the Rooney rule. It's 2009 minorities have the same opportunities as whites. We had a black man and a woman running for president in 2008. We currently have a black president if anyone has noticed!
jay from indianapolis
ok so matt if you get fouled and its not called would'nt you complain the refs need to cut the crap not just NBA but the NFL to!!!!!
John (Austin)
MK, how did he get to the Super Bowl then?
Charles (D.Town Ohio)
I love the fact that Orlando exposed Cleveland last night. The Lebron Show is about over for this season
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Dana, I'm just wondering if we'll see any change even if the rule is implemented. The true measure is looking 5 or 6 years down the road. If the number of intereviews are up but the number of miniorities in front office positions are the same then the Rule means absolutely nothing.
Dana Jacobson (11:44 AM)
Kevin, i think you're taking it a bit far. Plenty of white guys get an opportunity to do so. ALSO that's what we're talking about - opportunity. Those white players are there at the draft...they get the opportunity. This is trying to open the eyes of some people who've had them shut too long.
david (charlotte,nc)
just my opinion, on a very sensitive subject i know.... isn't the rooney rule almost like drug rehab? if you go to rehab for somebody else, to make them happy, and not for yourself... it just doesn't solve the problem... the rooney rule essentially makes teams interview minorities... but in NO WAY does it mean that these guys will get a job... unless the teams and owners who are interviewing for their head coaching positions or GM positions are INTERESTED in hiring a specific minority candidate, they aren't going to do it just because of this rule
Michael Kim (11:45 AM)
Obviously, he does it and must fly to play in the NFL. But I guess he's not fond of it. I don't know what to tell you other than that.
Umor (detroit)
They need a Rooney Rule for college. It's a total mess there.
Matt (Peoria, AZ)
I'm sure Skip was laughing as hard as I was at the antics of Prince James after the game. If the Cavs had won the game, LeBron would have pointed to his bloody knee while posing to the crowd for further, much needed, adulation.
Larry (Houston)
well last year to avoid the rooney rule alotta teams named a coach while the head coach was still in place...they will just keep doing the same and no one will be able to say anything
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Oh yeah Wesley, how many minority GMs are there in the NFL?
Michael Kim (11:46 AM)
Umor -- college football is a joke in that area, that's for sure!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Skip can't wait to see Orlando take out the King, and then the Black Mamba for the Championship!
Dana Jacobson (11:46 AM)
David, again i think its good to get some qualified names/guys some pub. look it took rex ryan awhile to get a head job and he's white. First time around doesn't mean youre in but when you're name gets floated often enough it often pans out.
Revis (Florence, KY)
Mike Hill, it's hard for me to take you seriously when you're wearing pink.
aly (Miami, Fl)
calvin, if you are a winner wouldn't you want the same opportunity as the next man.
tom nj [via mobile]
Maybe every player and coach can just be judged on the content of his character(and or skills) and not the color of his skin. To paraphrase a great man.
Johnathan (Suitland, MD)
I'm with Mike Hill. Knowshon is better than anyone on the roster right now, and will win that job barring injury.
Mark ,NJ
No NBA lotto talk?
Michael (Houston, TX)
Very intriguing conversation about the Rooney rule. You can really see and hear the passion Rob displays. Just that passion alone should let you know that there has definitely not been enough done, in or out of sports, to have true equality in this country. Keep up the great conversation on the subject. You are opening eyes.
Dana Jacobson (11:46 AM)
Tom, as they should. I think the nfl is dealing with the reality that not everyone feels that way and trying again to open eyes.
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
Dana, the fact that it would have to be a combination would be still disappointing. Having to do something means that you didnt want to in the first place! thats like having to eat your brocolli knowing that you didnt want to!
Will (WV)
Lets all look back at the coaches/gm's that have taken their teams to the last 5 superbowls! Lovie, Dungy, Tomlin, Reese(gm)...lets keep going!
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
Please Michael Kim...dude fly's all over the U.S. during the season...his REAL reason is what was reported first...he doesn't feel the invite was sincere.
drego (tampa)
dana their is a double standard and we all see it. it the good ole boy network in effect
Dana Jacobson (11:47 AM)
But arthur, if you find out after eating it that you do in fact like it and then you keep having it and are healthier, your mind is changed and you're better off.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Let me give you a hint Wesley, it's one less then the number of black Presidents we have.
Arnold
YEs, Terminator. Cant wait to see it.
Larry (Houston)
WOW good point umor...what is it, only 4 black coaches at DIV 1 schools?
Dana Jacobson (11:47 AM)
Larry, we've had that debate too. Far worse in college.
Andy (Nashville, TN)
Move on to the next subject. This is useless to discuss, cause you wont get both sides of this argument cause if someone liek myself disagrees with this forcing, then we must be racist.
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
Question, does it hurt or disturb these owners by taking 10 minutes of there time to interview a black coach or gm? no, but like i said there is that white guy to over see all the black people aspect but I wont go there. Its about equal rights and as we all know black people don't really have equal rights, we are all ways at a disadvantage and we always have to work harder to be what we want to be. yeah Obama is president but im sure he had to work 10 times as hard because of his race. Its a fact there will all ways be shread of Race issues so that's life.
Mike Hill (11:48 AM)
Calvin...I think it was a little of both....he obviously had the credentials TO BE INTERVIEWED but let's remember he wasn't the leading candidate in the beginning....many thought russ grim or ken whisenhunt would automatically take over or cowher when he stepped down and IF not for the Rooney rule...one of them probably would've just gotten the job. However, because of the process, the Steelers HAD to bring in a minority candidate and Tomlin was one they did.
Michael Kim (11:49 AM)
Carlo -- Steelers fly no more than eight times in the reg season and he could drive to some of the games. Don't underestimate what some of these phobias can do for anyone -- even if they are a famous football player. Having said that, if he doesn't want to go to visit the White House for whatever reason, who loses? Who cares?
Dana Jacobson (11:49 AM)
Jeremy, and women do too. Equal is a wonderful ideal. we ALL know it doesn't exist. I know i'm not treated equally to male colleagues by everyone. I've had to work harder than some. And some have had to work harder than me. BUT if we just say it should be equal, and it's not...doesn't change. If we try to do something about it - isn't it better?
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Yeah Friedgen!!! Go Terps!!!
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Jeremy....sad but very true
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Dana if what Rob says is true do you feel that MLB should have to interview more Domincans for Gm jobs?
Aaron (K.C.)
In my opinion if owners want to be ignorant enough to not interview someone because of color that is their RIGHT as an owner but, the must understand that they will suffer while the rest of corporate America (thats what they are a corperation) hires the best canadite regardless of Race, Religion, or Creed. That my friends IS THE AMERICAN WAY.
Aaron (K.C.)
He should, and thank you Michael for the exceptional represintation. As we do also respect Vandy. Though I will say I cant think of a sport they want to face us in.
Sean (TR NJ)
Is there not a screening process for these owners I mean what other orginization can survive like they do. Case in point in my company if all I did was hire White Males I would be in so deep I would not be able to see the top do they have different rules that they need a second enforcement Rooney Rule?
Michael Kim (11:50 AM)
Thx Aaron. I always thank Skip for VAndy sending us DeMarre Carroll.
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
I'm just saying Michael Kim...he's just saying his fear of flying is the reason he doesn't want to go now that I'm sure he's taking some flack from friend's, family, and media for snubbing the first black president.
david (charlotte,nc)
dana....i totally agree... get the guys in there because until you meet someone, you just never know.... columbus would never have discovered america if he didn't look.... but all i'm saying is that in the end, it's on the owners to WANT to change things... not some rule... i'm not for or against the rule... i just think that in all reality, it doesn't really serve much purpose... GOOD football coaches will be discovered, no matter what color they are...
Dana Jacobson (11:51 AM)
Race and ethnicity are a bit different. You choose to come to america to play this sport. Some who do even get dual citizenship...again it's not race. I think this is a race issue.
Rayland (Las Vegas NV)
I agree that it is ridiculous that the NFL has force teams to interview black applicants but you are still missing their point. This is a great way for black applicants to get a foot inside the door. If black applicants aren't even given an interview then there is no way whatsoever for them to get a job.
mark(manhattan ks)
Great Point Dana. Where are all the women in the NFL?
Michael Kim (11:51 AM)
Carlo - I don't doubt that either, but I don't know and I think it's his loss -- legit reason or otherwise. I agree, though, that his initial comments didn't help his cause. Or make him look terribly smart.
Luke (Auburn NY)
The NFL doesnt concern itself with fairness the way it says...example why cant the Bills ever host a superbowl..the cowboys have essentially a 10 percent chance of havin a home superbowl while other teams have ZERO..
Shawn (Pton, IN)
i think maybe at one time this was needed, but times are changing, slowly but still theyre changing. you can simply force things on people. and for the owners/gms that dont interview blacks arent they going to pay for it? if the african american candidate does such a great job and leads his team to a championship wont they eventually have to interview them? look at jackie robinson, no1 had black players until he came out and showed how much of an asset to a team, to a sport diversity can be.
John (Austin)
MK, you're right, its not like Obama is going to lose sleep if Harrison snubs him but my question was how is Rooney handling this, he backed Obama pretty hard and he might feel like Harrison needs to be there.
Dana Jacobson (11:52 AM)
shawn, jackie robinson was forced in....what if he hadn't been??
Moderator (11:52 AM)
can someone please tell Luke why we don't want a Super Bowl in Buffalo in February?
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Dana, you are missing the point! The problem is not that not enough blacks are getting interviewd, the problem is that not enough blacks are getting hired. An interview is an important part of the job process, but someone can practice interviewing with friends or even taking a class. You don't have to go through dog and pony shows to learn how to interview.
Dana Jacobson (11:53 AM)
calvin, i think you're mising the point. you can't force someone to hire a certain person. BUT by opening the door, their opinions may change.
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
Oh yeah don't get me wrong Michael I could care less if he goes or not it's his choice I just don't believe that when asked the first time why he was not going...the real reason was that he was scared of flying. He only later came out with that statement after his story had blown up that's all.
Aaron (Denver)
Harrison did not go back when they beat the Seahawks, he just opened his mouth to make it an issue this time around
Michael Kim (11:53 AM)
I wouldn't be surprised to hear the President made some reference to it in his comments when the team stands behind him onstage.
Kevin, Ft. Huachuca AZ
I see your point Dana but can you tell me when the last time a white RB/WR was drafted in the first round and became a #1 for that team? Yes the white guys are at the draft and get passed by every time for someone who ran a faster 40 time and jumped a little higher. I do believe everyone should be given the same chance to get the job.
Shawn (Pton, IN)
he snubbed bush too... so what if hes his same color?? obama simply wants to meet them because theyre the champs. i can understand him not wanting to meet him
Donavan (CL, MI)
Answer, only allowing 10 mintues for an interview is more of an injustice then the rule.
Mark(manhattan ks)
Carlo from San Jose is wrong...Harrison is saying he has a fear of flying because he came off as really stupid when he gave his reasoning in the first place, now he's tryin to clean it up a bit
Dana Jacobson (11:54 AM)
Kevin to be honest, i dont see players as black and white in my head...i'd have to think. and shouldnt the faster, better player get drafted?? we aren't saying hire people who aren't qualified
Hook (Southern Maryland)
The Super Bowl should be played everywhere. It would be awesome to see a Super Bowl in below zero temperatures in a blizzard.
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
Lol Michael...thanks for the good back and fourth!
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
Dana, I agree 100%. But do you think owners want to feel like "they Have to interview a minority" when their $$ is at risk? When $$ is on the table, it is always a different ball game w/ anyone involved! The steelers felt they took a risk. they never felt we wanted him!
Chad (Germantown, MD)
Minority doesn't mean "BLACK" ppl GOSH!!!
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
Dana i completely agree women share the same burden as black people and its sad to have come this far as a nation and still have sports which are DOMINATED by black people. But look at the WNBA they are in no way marketed like the NBA is just not the same, there is always that race wall that everyone knows is there. now some people have the will power to break down that wall and some fall short thats the burden we as the minority and women share.
Larry (Houston)
because its 5 to 12 feet of snow in buffalo in february
Michael Kim (11:55 AM)
Always, Carlo... We're all equals here on this chat -- well, maybe not everybody...
david (charlotte,nc)
and to go with what mark in KS said.... not necessarily where are all the women in footbal....but there is such a big mess made of rules about getting minorities in for interview....WHAT ABOUT WOMEN? why is there no big fuss about that?
Larry (Houston)
harrison shoulda jus said that he didnt wanna go...that was a stupid comment
Luke (Auburn NY)
Its about fairness!!! WHO CARES about you weaklings who are scared of the cold MANS GAME...play in the snow...you can build a team for a one year run now, why should the little guy get no shot? Cmon moderater...tell me
Will (WV)
Lebron had his "walk off moment"..too bad he needed help and got carried off!
Michael Kim (11:57 AM)
Will - funny line. But don't count him out... To be continued
Umor (detroit)
ROB SKIP are you insane. cRAMPS HURTS. HOBBLE .Your NUTS
Chad (Germantown, MD)
I've had cramps b4 myself, but Lebron really was milking it. Take the lost like a man "Prince" James
Steve (INDIANA)
You are right Michael, except maybe that Buffalo guy that nobody understood.
Will (WV)
WIFFLE BALL TIME!
James Denver
Yeah Hook it would be real awesome to suffer through a 10 to 6 game in cold shi**y weather. Awesome Super Bowl with 200 total yards of offense.
Nathan (Marshall, MN)
LeBron was dehydrated too. He carried his team because none of the other Cavs decided to come out of the locker room in the second half.
Dana Jacobson (11:58 AM)
Arthur, this will sound worse than i mean it - who cares what they think. some of those owners need to open their minds. again owners didn't want jackie robinson back in the day....
Rayland (Las Vegas NV)
Kobe wouldn't have stayed on the court as long as Lebron did.
Mark(manahattan ks)
WOW! Dana how can you defend LeBron being hurt as the media's fault, but all the hype he gets from the media is ok?
aly (Miami, Fl)
if you lose the game, leave the court. did you see Melo standing around, no. He battled through, lost the game and left it on the floor.
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
They should of took a picture of his little booboo on his knee and added it to the Team Photo Album
wILL (wv)
WIFFLE BALL TIME! MK ARE YOU IN!
Adam G. Tampa
Not officially on the Skip bandwagon I live in Fl Orlando's my team
Dana Jacobson (11:58 AM)
never said the hype is ok, i'm saying if the cameras on lebron he's there no shot they are going to commercial break the media's using that for ratings
joe (florida)
i thought Sportscenter was going to blow up after Lebron lost game one!!!!
Jimmy, Long Beach Mississippi
Hey Everyone in ESPN World and Dana...Lebron lost last night...Stop not giving them credit...ESPN is so Lebron vs Kobe bias....Makes me wanna poke a ice pick in my eye...Recognize a quality Magic team as a team who could not only take out the lebrons but possibly Kobe too...GO MAGIC!!!!!
david (charlotte, nc)
FINALLY let's get on LBJ's case about being hurt....everyone talks about D-Wade isn't tough enough sometimes (SKIP).... you don't see D-Wade playing a whole game and then at the end of a loss, acting like a little wimp like LeBron did
Aaron (Denver)
Lebron...ham it up buddy. That was the equivilant of a baseball player looking at his glove post error.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
I guess Rob and Skip have never had a cramp while playing sports. When I played football my foot cramped so bad it took 5 minutes to get my toes to loosen up enough for me to hobble off the field.
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Umor, they don't play sports. I ran a marathon in 1980 without training just to show a basketball player could continue to run as needed, even if it took me 4 hours.
Umor (detroit)
I been on the football field and a cramp was way more painful than a hit.
Aaron (K.C.)
I am unsure when the Rooney rule will stop. Are teams going to be asked to interview Asians, Latinos, ect..., I say leave the rule out smart owners will interview/hire the best available.
Wyatt (Austin, TX)
Dana, how do you put up with those two?
John (Austin)
I wish Skip would get a cramp in his jaw.
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
Dana, thats why I like you. you are perfectly right with them NEEDING to open their minds. The Real question Dana, is When?
Drew T. Arkansas
I highly doubt the cavs are practicing circus shots during practice anymore.
Dana Jacobson (12:01 PM)
jimmy they played a good first half then blew it and orlando stepped i tup. we've given the magic a ton of credit. not sure what you're watching
marcus peoria,il [via mobile]
dana you are soo wrong! its obvious that lebron is a drama king who milked the cramps! he also over celebrates everything. and he makes everyone wait an extra minute for him to come onto the floor at the start of games.
Dana Jacobson (12:01 PM)
marcus i think you are so wrong. so we're even
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
The NFL should "clean house" on the owners...then perhaps things will change quicker. It seems most NFL jobs are more about WHO you know rather than WHAT you know...it's sad that's how it is, change owners...change the way things are.
Dana Jacobson (12:02 PM)
carlo, that sounds like the rest of the world sadly...who you know rather than what you know!!!
Larry (Houston)
lol good one drew
Marc: Ft. Lauderdale
Why does Dana keep saying "go to ESPN.com and click on the Your Take logo" to express your opinion? What Your Take logo? I found it really difficult to navigate to this page....when will the Your Take logo actually appear on the ESPN homepage and be functional?
Dana Jacobson (12:04 PM)
Marc apparently some days its there and others its not sorry. glad you found us
Carlo (San Jose, CA)
Agreed Dana...sadly
Dana Jacobson (12:09 PM)
folks, i'm off tomorrow. talk to you monday! yes we'll be here memorial day a special 2 and a half hour show.
Revis (Florence, KY)
Dana, what do you think about wearing a tie with a sports team on it during your wedding?
Dana Jacobson (12:10 PM)
revis, i had to weigh in on this. don't do it. sorry. i love sports, but come on. play a schools fight song ok, have a cake with school/team colors or something special paying homage to em. but no not to your wedding. unless the team is the only reason you're with your wife. even then...id still say no i think
