Hey Skip...here is what's for breakfast...nuggets and a Melo shake!
jason thomas (Huntsville AL)
even though I'd like to see Kobe win one without Shaq, I hate to say it but LA better stop playing like thier full of themselves because the way I see it, LA got lucky in game one and the score should be 2-0 Nuggies. Thier playing like thier to sexy to even dive for a ball or thier waiting on Kobe to become Macho Man Randy Savage out there.
Atlanta , Georgia
Last night on a late drive Kobe didn't get a critical foul call. He often doesn't. On the other hand Lebron gets EVERY call on both ends of the floor. To me it's seems referees swallow their whistle more often than not when Kobe is fouled.
matt st. laurent from springvale maine
i think denver and orlando will be the teams in the finals and denver will win. i dont think lakers have what it takes to make it and magic have an cavs number all year.
Modesto, CA
I'm sorry, but the refs' took the game from the Laker's and handed to the Nuggett's with so many missed calls' and we have David Stern to thank for that, as he wants this series to go 7 games. It's all about the money!!!
watervliet new york
Why is it the nba and wwe are arguing, because their doing the same thing...STAGEING COMPETION
watervliet new york
If the NBA refs had any other occupation other than theis and a weather man they would be fired for not knowing how to do there job correctly.
Moderator (9:28 AM)
anyone have a problem with the Lakers shot sequence at the end of the game last night?
James Denver
Finally a NBA Playoff game where the refs dont decide out come! They were making terrible calls against Nuggets in 1st half but at end of game the refs actually let the players decide the out come. They didnt bail out Kobe with 10 freethrows in final 3 minutes like game 1.
Moderator (9:39 AM)
interesting contrasting perspectives on the refs today...seems to depend on who you were rooting for
julius (springfield ma)
NO PROBLEM with LA shot selection they have a great all around balace scoring team any guy on the floor for the lakers can score their shots just did not fall.
JULIUS(SPRINGFIELD MA)
I think the media is to blame for alot of bad calls in all sports because if a ref makes a bad call nowadays they talk about it all DAY LONG
Moderator (9:40 AM)
original, Julius...blame the media
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Can honestly say I didn't watch a second of the NBA Playoffs. I was too busy watching the Pens taking the 'Canes out to the woodshed. Plus I couldn't care less about the NBA right now.
Umor (detroit)
Actually that was old school 80's play. good passing and shooting. trick play off kobe back. reminded me of byrd on that one.
Mike-Orlando
I have a problem with the refs taking the game into their hands by blowing a whistle EVERY TIME Chauncey/Melo decide to drive (30 of their 37 FT). It's difficult to question the lakers shot selection when it's evident the league has instructed the refs to even things up for the Nuggets. Why isn't the media talking about the NO CALL lane violation jump ball and then NO CALL foul on Ariza at the end of the game.
Moderator (9:52 AM)
Mike turn up the volume on your TV, commentaters were on the jump ball violation about :20 seconds after the fact
Adam Zynda Stevens Point WI
I am glad Peavey is staying in San Diego. His reasons were family. Yes he's on a losing team possibly going to another losing team. Its not about the money because he'll get paid on either team.
Jonah (Lexington KY)
definitely wondering if Fisher has lost a step or two, because he's had several open looks in this series, and just isn't reliable anymore. I understand going with experience, but like Jerry West said, even though Prince James is the best in the league, Kobe is still the guy who you want taking that last shot.
Will (WV)
MOD....it is sad to know that the NBA has made it clear that they want the Lakers in the finals...the refs know this and it makes the series less enjoyable.
Moderator (9:54 AM)
Will, I thought the series was tied 1-1, no? How come people are complaining at both extremes of the refs calls today? Could it be you all aren't looking at this objectively?
sean pocatello id
lakers missed free throws in fourth were bad but refs killed la on jump ball violation that was horriable how can they not see jr smith
Umor (detroit)
The scoring was there. This LA Nuggets series every game is gonna be over 100 points. It what happens in the last two minutes is gonna decides whos wins and who loses.
James Denver
Chauncey humiliated Kobe with the inbounds pass of the back. Long time Chauncey Billups fans remember he did same play in State Championship game here in Denver.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
James in Denver you have to be happy for Carmelo Anthony! He almost lost out on a championship run due to the Detroit Pistons horrible draft. He finally links up with Chauncey Billups. Imagine if the Detroit Pistons would have drafted Melo. There would have been more titles for Dana Jacobson's Pistons.
Umor (detroit)
The NBA and TV may want Kobe and Lebron in the finals. But that just makes Denver play harder,And The Magic anit scared of the CAVs. This is the finals, Nothing is given. You gotta take it. Kobe and Chaucey knows this.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Isn't objective sportsfan an oxymoron?
CULI MACC (DAYTONA)
JAMES I'M A DENVER NATIVE & I REMEMBER THAT PLAY.. HE SLAM DUNKED IT THOUGH IN HIGH SCHOOL..
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
Hasheem Thabeet will be the next Mutumbo and Dominate the inside but will not be more than a dunker at the rim. He has no real post moves and is not strong enough to overpower anyone. But over all he will be a solid pro. I wonder what skip thinks.
Moderator (10:12 AM)
Jeremy, Thabeet has a smooth jumper, makes free throws and as a native soccer player...had Olajuwon's footwork...he has potential, if he's not soft, to be something special
franklin sherrod (elkhart,Indiana)
skip, your right for the first time... kobe needs to take that last shot. he they win! just like lebron should have took that last shot.
Pat (Denver)
Mod, Melo's off ball defense on Kobe has been 2nd to none denying him the ball and making his job tough and tiring him out, does hes keep it up for the rest of the series?
James Denver
I give Skip credit he killed LBJ for not taking last shot and hes killing Kobe.
Umor (detroit)
Tom Rinaldi, Get SKIP.
James Denver
If the homer John Ireland has no complaints about refs Lakers fans you shouldnt either.
CULI MACC (DAYTONA BEACH)
KOBE SHOULDN'T BE UPSET WITH HIS TEAMMATES.. DENVER IS JUST A PHYSICAL IN YO FACE TYPE OF TEAM & DENVER IS DEEPER THAN THEM..
jason thomas (Huntsville AL)
If Denver just diciplines up they got the series in thier pocket!!! and I'm going for LA but I can't ignore what I see.
CULI MACC (DAYTONA BEACH)
J.R. SMITH IS LETTING ME DOWN!! LUCKY FOR DENVER KLEIZA STEPPED UP LAST NIGHT..
Adam G. Tampa, FL
The Cavs were down by 1, and you have the greatest driver to the basket in NBA History. Lebron has got to take the last shot with the game on the line you can't be unselfish here. Your the franchise your the reason the Cavs are this good, you've got to put the team on your back and take them to the promise land!
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
But Mod Mutumbo had a smooth jumper and is was good free throw shooter. But Thabeet will be a Dominate defensive player but will not be anywhere near a Olajuwon as far as offense
Moderator (10:16 AM)
you're probably going to be right on that...Hakeem was a Dream, after all...I was just sayin'...
Pat (Denver)
Culi Macc, thats what LA fans do, however there were 56 fouls that is a @#$^ load for a playoff game. Let them play
Brendan, St.Albans VT
The new yankee stadium is a joke.... they should make everyone switch hit when they play there to make it fair for the pitchers ERA.
julius(springfield ma)
thabeet was the best player on uconn all season and in the tournament he will be a dcent scorer in the NBA give him about 2 seasons
John, Austin
Good morning everyone, welcome to a Favre Free Friday.
Steve (Hemet, Ca)
Chauncey play was dirty and cheap. Its was more humiliating for our post defenders. Who didnt stop the lay-up. The fact of the matter is J.R. Smith step in the circle during the jump ball. Thats two game winning plays the officials gave the Nuggets. Its a joke BAD CALL AFTER BAD CALL. Giving the nuggets the game. How come Kobe doesnt get the PHANTOM call the Prince James gets. If the games where called fair the series would be over, in two more games.
Moderator (10:18 AM)
someone get a box of tissues to Steve (Hemet, CA) ASAP
jason thomas (Huntsville AL)
I see thbet doing big things if he goes to the right team, and he just might be the next Olajuwon in about 4 years!!!
Brendan, St.Albans VT
Malkin and Crosby are Jagr and Lemieux 2...its good to see Pittsburgh back on top
Umor (detroit)
Kris B Had his cheerios.LOL
Craig (Texas)
Oh Lord here we go again ref bashing I've never seen a ref miss a free throw not rebound dive for loose balls etc yes bad calls happen but blame the players not the ref
KC (Denver, CO)
Steve cry me a river. You guys got a lot of calls in that game 2 you didn't hit your FT's in the 4th Quarter Nuggets did End of Story. Stop Whining you guys are lucky you are not down 2-0.
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Skip is full of himself. Broussard is absolutely right, it was a great basketball play. I played and coached the game for 30 years, Skip, you just haven't a clue. The average fan thinks you're all that, the average player thinks you are embarrassing yourself.
Robert (St. Paul, MN)
Nobody complained about Fisher taking the shot when he won the game with .4 seconds. If Fisher hits the shot last night everyone would be talking about how smart Jackson is to use Kobe as a decoy and how great Fisher is. Skip is right, it was a free throw shooting contest and the Nuggets won.
Mike Hill (10:20 AM)
What's up people....Rob just said Magic take a 2-0 lead IN CLEVELAND.....Wow...time for a test for someone.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
The way so many people have whined about the first two games of the Nuggets/Lakers series, I'd say tied at one is about where they should be.
Tony (Raleigh
Hey Moderator, you don't think that the media plays any role in what the fans focus their attention on. I highly doubt that anybody cares very much about the Favre situation any longer yet, it continues to be covered ad nauseam.
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
NO WAY ROB! LBJ will come out and get 60! Cavs by 20.
Moderator (10:21 AM)
Favre overkill drives me nuts too, but you see the chats...half the people can't get enough, half the people are sick of it...
James Denver
Jeremy Mutumbo had a smooth jumper? Dude did you ever watch him play. I love Mt Mutumbo but he had no offensive game no shot his shot was so ugly and almost robotic elbow way out it was ugly and inafective. Thabeet is like Greg Oden but skinnier. I hope he doesnt have Odens injury problems being that skinny hes going to have tough time in NBA.
Craig (Texas)
Thabeet is just another unproven tall player he will be more Okafor then hakeem please Hakeem put Michael jackson moves on david robinson embarassing the MVP that year. No comparison
Umor (detroit)
Oh yeah that was sweet.at the end of the Howard interview at the half. He did Lebron hand slap. That man anit scared of lebron.
Pat (Denver)
Steve you are off your rocker, what was dirty or cheap about that play? it was a heads up play by a smart veteran player and perfectly legal play
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
Craig, I have always said the following, DON'T PUT YOURSELF IN A POSITION WHERE A BLOWN CALL WILL COST YOU THE GAME.
tomwit nj [via mobile]
These NBA playoff games can provide strong examples for youth if they end the way they have begun. Great TEAMS,not GREAT PLAYERS,win Championships.
sean pocatello id
skip and rob aleast brought up the blown jump ball violation because nobody else wants to say anything the lakers would had ball side out with 15 seconds kobe wins the game but they win one in denver
julius(springfield ma)
Thabeet might end up being most underated player out of the draft this year . he will be better than blake griffin
Jonathan (Atlanta, GA)
Skip's right, all the Cavs' sheannigans are over. If the Cavs come out this evening serious, they'll probably win. Welcome to the playoffs, Cleveland.
Craig (Texas)
it will be a close contest tonight but the Cavs will tie the series
Arthur (Spring Valley, NY)
I would NOT be surprised if the MAGIC sweep the Cavs and the sweep comes in tight games. A taste of their own medicine, is something I would not be shocked if it happens...
Umor (detroit)
Mike Hill. I agree with Rob. The magic anit scared.
jason thomas (Huntsville AL)
Honestly I think Rob Parker is right the Magic will win tonight and possibly sweep Cleavland. Orlando has more talent then Cavs, but the question is will the discipline match thier talent tonight.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
I'm a Magic fan I agree with Rob the Magic's front line are too quick for Varejao and old Z
Craig (Texas)
Greg Oden? He is hype all hype the Bosworth of the NBA. He reminds me of Benjamin Buttton
Craig (Texas)
Kerry i couldnt agree with you more
Aaron (Denver)
I loved Kobe's body language after Chauncy punked...just classic. If that happened to a scrub Kobe would have bit his head off...
Jonathan (Atlanta, GA)
Hey Sean, here's the problem with the blown jump ball call. No body caught it (not the fans, refs, TV auidence, etc) until the replay happen. Anyone can be a genius in hindsight. So as far as I'm concerned this is not a "blown" call. Did you catch it when it happen?
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
What a game last night. Billups used a play we used to use in highschool on Kobe. Billups smart play is going to be what takes the Nuggets to the finals.
CULI MACC (DAYTONA, FL.)
THE CAVS WILL STILL WIN THE SERIES.. BECAUSE STAN VAN GUNDY IS THE TUFFEST GUY ON THE MAGIC & HE DOSEN'T EVEN PLAY.. PLUS THEY ARE UNSTABLE..
Sean (TR NJ)
Hello all! I have said it before and will say it again give me a game 2 road win anytime they seem to be momentum builders that change a series now if Denver takes care of Business at home this series will be done in 6.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Do you think the World Champions Phillies can bring the Yankees down to earth by sweeping them this weekend?
Jarad (Boston)
Anyone else getting the DAN vs. DAVE feeling with the Kobe vs. Lebron matchup? Over hyped and might not even happen...
Mike Hill (10:31 AM)
Paul...good point...as good as the Yankees have played...a sweep this weekend would do serious damage....that's how this team has been over the past few years.....they'll get just as cold as they got hot
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I can't wait to see that Phillies pitching staff in the LaGuardia Annex. Bring your helmets folks because it could be raining baseballs in the bleachers this weekend.
julius(springfield ma)
THE NBA PLAYOFFS ARE SO GOOD THIS YEAR IM NOT EVEN UPSET MY CELTICS CANT REPEAT.
jason thomas (Huntsville AL)
Hey Skip!!! If the Magic just lets Lebron get his way and shut down the rest of the Cavs overated suporting cast they can cash this series in and I think they figured that out by the second half in game 1**
Umor (detroit)
I'm a piston fan, And I love seeing what the magic doing to the CAVS. And I love denver play cause of MR.BIGSHOT.
John, Austin
I think after the first two games of the series Phil better go meditate and figure out how they are going to stop Billups the rest of the series. I know Melo is scoring like crazy but Billups has the look of a true general.
julius(springfield ma)
both east and west finals in nba will be classic. 4 of the best teams in the league going tot to toe what more could a SPORTS FAN ask for.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Billups is the best decision maker left in the playoffs (besides Lebron) he is making D Fish look over the hill for real Skip.
Jonathan (Atlanta, GA)
Craig, I agree with you completely. Remember all the hype Kwame Brown got when he entered the draft? How did that turn out?! Oden will be the same.
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
You guys picking the Cavs, I hope you are right but I am cautiously Optomistic... RED RIGHT 88, The DRIVE, THE SHOT, THE FUMBLE, The SHOT 2 (Yes, Jordan did it to Cleveland twice 2nd time over Gerald Wilkins), The squeeze in 95 vs the Braves, the 9th inning blow up by Jose Mesa in 99, 3-1 vs Boston in 07 just to have Wedge throw that lead away... Still trying to figure out what great name this possible debacle will have...
Adam G. Tampa, FL
The Magic have got the athletes to steal game 2 tonight in Cleveland. They match up better at every position (except King James') If Rafer Alston can contain Rondo a little bit I like his chances with Mo money Williams.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
LOL, Jarad, I was thinking the EXACT same thing yesterday when I was watching the ads.
James Denver
The Nuggets have won 16 straight at Pepsi Center. The Nuggets destroyed LA last time they played in Denver February 27. They held the Lakers to a season low in points and fiel goal percantage. It wasnt even a close game Denver had double digit lead entire second half. Its over Denver wins the next 2 easily in Denver and then goes to LA and wins game 5.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Stan Van Gundy missed out on his ring when that #$@%^ Pat Riley took the glory and forced him out of the door in Miami. This is Stan the Man's year!
Jonathan (Atlanta, GA)
As it looks right now, there's a good chance the neither LeBron or Kobe will make the finals. At least Dan made the Olympics!
sean pocatello id
everybody wants to talk about mellos defense on kobe i think shane battier played him much tougher last series kobe is getting good shots
Umor (detroit)
Oh wow, That was the wildest first period of hockey I ever seen. 5 goals in what seem like 5 minutes. You score I score. Then it became a blow out and I stop switching the clicker to it.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
The Yanks won't get sweept this weekend. This will be a great test for them thought. I think they'll take 2 of 3 from the Phils.
Aaron (Denver)
Nike better get a designer on the Melo and Howard puppets, they look like they are ready to crash the party.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Mike Hill just got out the doghouse!!
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Johnny your aren't just whistling Dixie.. There will be at least 1 game that it will take 10 runs to win.
Jimmie (Morrisville, North Carolina)
Skip Bayless is simply one of the best sport analyst I believe. Keep up the great work Skip honestly you got a fan in me.
CULI MACC (DAYTONA, FL.)
JAY CUTLER IS TALENTED BUT HE REMINDS ME OF JEFF GEORGE.. I'M A DIE HARD DENVER FAN, I DIDN'T WANT TO SEE HIM GO BUT HE MAKES THE SAME BONE HEAD PLAYS JAKE PLUMMER USE TO MAKE..
Moderator (10:45 AM)
well, Culi Macc, which one is it? Jeff George or Jake Plummer?
j(springfield ma)
moe willams is a much beter shooter than rondo so alston will have his hands plenty full.
Aaron (Denver)
Denver has to have LA shaking. No one has touched LA at home, the Nuggets stretched them to their limits twice and with the Laker road performances in these playoffs...
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Very well done BARRY!
Craig (Texas)
Peeps there is alot more basketball to play let's not get carried away
Pat (Denver)
sean, melo makes him work harder to get the ball, his off ball defense tires out kobe b4 he gets the ball in his hands and sometimes completely takes him out as an option
Kerry (Cleveland, O)
CULLI MAC, turn your caps off, why are you yelling at us this morning?
Aaron (Denver)
If anyone is interested in how far a baseball can actually fly, Ryan Howard will be on display all weekend in the New Yankee Stadium.
sean pocatello id
i hope ure wrong jonathan kobe and lebron playing in the finals would be great like bird and magic back in the day
Matt (Satellite Beach, FL)
Favre is not coming back. I was once 100% sure he would play, but as time goes by I'm not too sure anymore.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Jon I don't know if the Yanks will win 2 out of 3 or get swepted but I do know this has a great chance to be the highest scoring 3 game series of the year with all the left handed bats in the Phillies lineup hitting in that ball park.
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Maybe Brad C. should talk to the Hairclub for Men instead of Brett Favre.
Michael Kim (10:47 AM)
Good morning, everyone... Before we get started, TGIF and hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend...
KC (Denver, CO)
So is Stern going to give Orlando and Denver a call? Didn't they get the memo it's supposed to be Lebron vs. Kobe in the Finals LOL
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
C'mon Mike Hill. Let's get some lacrosse talk going. Virginia vs. Cornell, Syracuse vs. Duke. You cannot get any better than that.
Aaron (Denver)
Mike Hill, nice comeback on the "Stick" topic with Barry...hilarious.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Morning Mike Kim my Birthday is on Memorial Day chea!!
Mike Hill (10:48 AM)
Calvin....much respect for lacrosse...coverage coming strong this weekend for the final four
Sean (TR NJ)
Culi Macc so you think what you got in return will be better. Insane way to think whats next Kyle Boller your franchise player. Denver will have a serious problem without the gunslingin kid to win games for them with your horrible D. Good job in the offseason fixing that by the way dough!
j(springfield ma)
howard and king james will do what they do but THE KEY will be the role players on both teams that decide the eastern conference championship because the east is a defensive conference.
Michael Kim (10:49 AM)
Happy BDay, Adam. Enjoy. Is Tampa getting the rain Daytona is? Heard Daytona Speedway is underwater.
Matt (Satellite Beach, FL)
Howard will have 2-3 HR's this weekend.
Mike Hill (10:50 AM)
Aaron...thanks my dude
Michael Kim (10:50 AM)
Matt -- Howard, Ibanez and Utley could be worn out rounding the bases this weekend in the Bronx. This could be a real slugfest between the Yanks and Phils
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Mk, Before we get started?? We have been going for about an hour and were worried sick about you til now. Thanks for joining us :)
Mike Hill (10:51 AM)
Love Barry...one of the best personaities in this buiding...got an entertaining, light hearted dot com show coming soon...stay tuned for that
Michael Kim (10:51 AM)
Paul, appreciate the concern... somehow I think you would have made it through your day with my presence here
Aaron (Denver)
Michael Kim...you were all about your boy Linas Kleiza lighting it up last night...don't lie.
Mike Hill (10:51 AM)
What's happening Adam??
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
I mean on First and Take, Mike. At least, tell us your picks. I say Virginia and Duke in the Finals and Duke wins.
Mike Hill (10:52 AM)
Cal...ya think Duke FINALLY gets it done
Michael Kim (10:53 AM)
Happy to see a Mizzou Tiger do well... I was just telling someone here (who used to live in Denver) how he wasn't even the star of his Mizzou teams... Played out of control but he had some skills. Wasn't sure if he could put it all together. Wonder if Josh Kroenke's presence there is helping.
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Michael:Rain in Tampa Bay nine days in a row.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
If Favre isn't considering a comeback then why see Dr. James Andrews? Does he want to make sure his arm is OK to start the lawnmower?
J(springfield ma)
lol KC
SupaEd09 (Richmond, VA)
Dear Skip Bayless: U talked so negative about Lebron not taking the last shot after having such a dominant game. Why are you giving Kobe a buddy pass after Kobe score 8 pts at the beginning of the 4th quarter, but did nothing on offense & defense in the last 3 minutes of the game?
Umor (detroit)
Aaron, With that wind tunnel in yankee stadium. Ryan Howard might knock it out of the park. I'm talking World record distance.
Danny(Tonasket, Wa.)
Everyone seems to think NBA want Kobe vs LeBron but with all the talk about the superman dunk since Feb. last year and all the Melo talk, do you actually believe the NBA wouldn't be happy with a Howard vs. Melo series?
sean pocatello id
pat u need glasses he can get his shot easily against mello battier was inside kobes jersey much better defense
Jeremy (New Orleans, LA)
Congratulations to the Magic for making it to the NBA finals and I wish them the best against- what, they only won one game. Calm down people Cavs win tonight and eventually the series. its called a 7 game series for a reason.
Matt (Satellite Beach, FL)
Gotta love them 12-10 games where gonna have at Yankee stadium.
Troy (Detroit)
The Vikings should develop the young quaterbacks on there roster and forget about Brett Farve. It just a distraction for there team just let Brett stay retire and move on.
Craig (TX)
RIP to Wayman Tisdale class act will be missed.
jason thomas (Huntsville AL)
Hey CULI MACC quite as kept Jay Cutler will be playing with a vendeta next year just to prove a point and this might be exactly what Chi Town needs (a marrige mead in heaven) but i think the Broncos new head coach caused more problems in that situation more then he's precieving to everybody.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
As far as the puppet Kobe-LeBron commercials are concerned, does everyone love them but me? I don't think they are cute, I don't think they are funny, they are just annoying.
tom Rinaldi (10:59 AM)
Jared, stick around and hear what Kenyon Martin had to say about this very topic. Were you in LA and you didn't tell us? While everyone wants to see that matchup, Denver has something to say...and if it doesn't happen, well, Dan vs. Dave is the perfect lesson
Umor (detroit)
Danny, We see the ad's and the hype. They want Kobe v Lebron. get that big market money.
Steve (Chiacgo)
SupaEd- Um maybe cuz LeBrick acts like he's in the circus and doesn't respect the game. Just like Shaq said yesterday, "Duncan plays the game the right way". If Lebron would stop the side show, shut up and just play maybe he'd gat a little more respect!
CULI MACC (DAYTONA)
I WRITE IN CAPS CUZ I'M A BEAST!! & CUTLER IS BOTH.. JEFF GEORGE BECAUSE OF HIS SNOBBY LOOK AT MY ARM ATTITUDE.. & JAKE PLUMMER BECAUSE OF HIS STEVE URKLE DID I DO THAT MISTAKES ON THE FIELD.. & I KNOW THE BRONCOS WON'T BE GOOD, THEY HAVE NO QB OR D-LINE, PLUS THEY'RE SCHEDULE IS BRUTAL..
Troy Detroit
The Magic will sweep Cavs
Aaron (Denver)
Kobe is getting tired...Long Playoff run in '08, Olymipics, 13 years in the league and now this run with Melo banging on him in the block...
Craig (TX)
Memo to Brett: Retire please do your research comebacks never work out well. see ali, jordan, sugar ray leonard, etc.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
I think they better get some Howard/Anthony puppets made quickly. :)
Hook (Southern Maryland)
I think that puppet commercial is dumb. I didn't realize until the 5th time I saw them that the one was suppose to be Kobe.
Aaron (Denver)
Big difference for Cutler will be the locker room he is walking into. Da Bears have established leaders and Cutler now knows he must EARN his keep. Anyone who saw Urlacher's nonchalant..."He must be good" statement knows it.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Umor, touche.
Candace kc,mo
gasol is sooooooooooooo soft!that's y la wont beat denver.mike kim your boy was on fire! if he was in at the end of the game they would've won by 10!!!!!
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Craig, I don't want Favre back either but after Jordan's first comeback, didn't he win another 3 rings?
Moderator (11:03 AM)
this would be Favre's 2nd comeback, Danny
Umor (detroit)
I can see the nike ad, Kobe and Lebron on the playground. Kobe: I thought you were going to the finals. Lebron: Naw man I'm gonna be a knick next season and I got some mansions to look at.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
If I'm the Magic & Nuggets, I'm pissed at the Kobe v. LeBron marketing ploys. Even ESPN jumped on the bandwagon with something they did yesterday on 23 v. 24. If I'm Van Gundy or Karl, all I would do is play the Nike ad, Kobe doin' work or 23 v. 24 to get my team fired up.
Efrain (Bayonne NJ)
I think Brett Favre may be getting jealous of all the attention Mike Vike is receiving
dave (home)
favre should stay retired
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Why does everyone think since the Cavs loss game 1, that they are going to lose the series. I bet they will win by double digits tonight and then everyone will be talking about how gret they are.
dave (home)
uh troy i am a magic fan and even i know the magic wont sweep the cavs
Paul (Denver)
Is it asking too much of Espn to show a Nuggets "Where amazing happens" commercial?
Moderator (11:05 AM)
Paul...ESPN doesn't make those commercials
Paul (Denver)
To add to Aaron's comment- Cutler has been present for every workout, OTA, etc, and it's been said he's working his behind off already. So much for a character concern.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Troy: The Vikes tried developing T-Jax. It hasn't worked. Get Favre for a season then draft a QB next year. It's the best option.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Moderator, yes and Favre took his team to the playoffs after his first comeback and Minnesota is a MUCH better NFL team than the Wizards were an NBA team.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
But this ISN'T a comeback. Favre has only SAID he's retiring twice. He hasn't missed a season since he was drafted.
Moderator (11:06 AM)
maybe its a mental comeback if not a physical comeback
tc clark (chattanooga, tennessee)
who is better 3 point shooter ray allen or kobe bryant
KC (Denver, CO)
I swear what's with the Puppets anyway this isn't Sesame Street. Sure there cute I guess but it's not really a good commercial.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Cutler went to Chicago where QBs go to die.
KC (Denver, CO)
Coming from a Denver fan I wish Cutler the best of luck but seriously he needs to stop crying if he wants to win a SB.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Ray Allen is one of the greatest 3 point shooters ever.
Craig (TX)
Danny kobe n bron are the face of the league now but lil penny ads were the best do the Beatles man let it be
Tom (River North)
I've seen Cutler at a couple bars too. He is fully enjoying the Chicago experience.
Danny (Tonasket, Wa.)
Good point J.B. and thanks for the support on the commercials guys.
Adam G. Tampa
Sanchez to Burress Kerry Rhodes Come on!
Jonathan (Atlanta)
LOL, nice KC. I think Nike is trying to revive the old Lil Penny concept.
Tom (River North)
How can the NBA have a Nuggets When Amazing Happens when they haven't won a big game until this year?
Sean (TR NJ)
Now now Paul thats not fair they haven'y had a QB in years to kill, and don't even pull the Rex card anyone with a brain knows that was all D that year.
Paul (Denver)
Paul in WPB- QBs that die in Chicago were already dead before arriving. It's where WRs go to die, just ask Moose.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
KC, I think the Puppet commercial is working as it has us all talking about it.
Steve (Chicago)
Paul, Chicago is typically where recievers go to die.... But no longer!!!!
Aaron (Denver)
Paul..I'll piggy back on your comment. Cutler was a Bear Fan growing up. Name one person who wouldn't kill to play for the childhood favorite...
dave (home)
ray allen is a better 3 pt shooter in my opinion
Paul (Denver)
Bronco fans need to stop crying about Cutler crying.
Selwyn (CT)
The Lakers are in huge trouble, right now. The Nuggets proved in Game 2 that they're not going away anytime soon, and if the Lakers couldn't win on the road against an undermanned Rockets team, what will they do in Denver against a healthier, stronger Nuggets team?
Pat (Denver)
tc, Jesus Shuttleworth takes it by 5 percentage pts over their respective careers
CULI MACC (DAYTONA BEACH)
CARMELLO LOOKS LIKE HE'S IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP FORM HE WAS AT SYRACUSE..
Demetric (Orlando)
The puppet commercials are the reason so many people are rooting for Denver/Orlando to win, they had all season for the concept, but air it doing playyoff time?
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Since the dawn of time, man has asked the question "what makes the LeBron-Kobe puppet commercials a.k.a. most valuable puppets so unstoppable?"
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Paul Denver, DaBears never have a good QB becasue they don't coach them right.
KrayzieGoosie (Las Cruces)
Hey Skip, dont worry you have one fan out here in the world. I think you are right on with your opinions on everyone from T.O to LeBron
Craig (TX)
Im dont consider the baaseball debacle for jordan a comeback im talking Wizard comeback@ Danny
KC (Northglenn, CO)
People talk about how the Lakers were the greatest Road team this year. Well that was in the Regular Season what has happend in the Playoffs? 2-3 in the Playoffs and 2 of those losses were blow out by the Rockets and the Lakers were trying to catch up the whole game.
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Ray Allen is a better 1-point shooter than a 3-point shooter.
Aaron (Denver)
Bronco fans need to look at how well Orton played pre-ankle last year and realize they have a solid QB who comes from the same system that produced Brees.
dave (home)
good point,selwyn
Craig (TX)
i actually would rather see Melo VS Lebron since that was the hype when they were drafted.
James Denver
As a Broncos fan all Ive got to say is thank god for the Nuggets!!!!!!!!
Sean (TR NJ)
Skip is the only person in the world I think that has TO down to a science. Can't wait to see this saga unfold in Buffalo.
dave (home)
would love to see orlando-denver final
Aaron (Denver)
K-Mart dropping some nice smack on the series! Love it!
Pat (Denver)
Preach KMart
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
So now that Peavy blew off the White Sox does anyone think he wil play for the Cubs or does he just not want to go to Chicago?
KC (Denver, CO)
IMO K-Mart is right call me a homer if you want but Orlando and Denver is not going to make it easy for a Lebron vs. Kobe finals. I think one team might ruin it weither it be Orlando or even Denver.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
I like Martin's comments. Skip's right. I think it will add juice to Orlando's and Denver's tank. I think they'll spoil the NBA's hidden desire to have a Lakers/Cavs final.
Ariel(New York)
We all know Kobe vs. Lebron is what the league really wants. Some people say that if its Denver/Orlando in the finals it wouldn't get a lot of ratings, but I don't see why. Don't we all love underdogs? I don't think it would be a boring series.
CULI MACC (DAYTONA)
KENYON MARTIN IS A BEAST ON & OFF THE COURT.. CLASSIC SOUND BITE..
Adam G. Tampa
Bobby Valentine should come back to the MLB and manage the Mets to the promise land.
Tom (River North)
I don't think Peavy wants to play in the AL. He'd probably go to the Cubs, but NL pitchers always have a hard time adjusting to AL hitters.
Jarvis Chicago Il
Skip you hate when Lebron does it but like that Howard mocks Lebron. you are a true hata
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Lebron is finished Howard will put the 6'8 beast in an 0-2 hole tonight.
Steve (Chiacgo)
Not a K-Mart fan, But good stuff!!
Kayson (NY)
Culi I def agree with you Melo is looking strong and unlike other players in the league he will throw the bows right back at Kobe
Eric (New York City)
What's up with all of these ESPN personalities hoping on the Nuggets bandwagon all of a something? Where were these picks at the beginning of the playoffs?
Adam G. Tampa, FL
That's right Skip Bobby V is the man very intelligent knows how to win. Bobby V just didn't have the talent back in the day, now he would take the Mets deep into October.
Paul (Denver)
Paul WPB- I don't think "not coaching them right" is accurate cause Rex was the only QB they drafted in the 1st round (Mirer traded for a 1st). The Bears philosophy has always been kind of half-fast when it comes to the most important position in football.
Sylvia (Chicago)
If he doesn't coach here in the states, he should re-join Baseball Tonight. I learned so much when he was on that show.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
I don't think Peavy wants to play in Chicago. I have a gut feeling he ends up in St. Louis
Jonathan (Atlanta)
If its a Denver v. Orlando final, I'll definitely watch it. I think it would be extremely competitive and its a toss up on who would win.
rob (miami)
kg is the king of the powder celebration. had it since 1997, lebron shouldn't be mad he stole it from him
Jarvis Chicago Il
Eric have you watched the Nggets play in these playoffs they have played better than anyone. Hard not to jump on the bandwagon
Umor ((detroit))
K-Mart, Represent
Craig (TX)
Hard to call a man a beast when he has a tat of lips on his neck
Craig (TX)
jarvis I hope Cavs win the title cause I love to see what skip sayless will have to hate on bron about.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
The Nats should trade the whole bullpen for Peavy.
Craig (TX)
Rob in mia good point kg did start that. totally forgot
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
You should let Bobby V do that mustache segment.
Chet (LA)
I don't get why people want to see Kobe in the finals again. I think seeing a Melo vs LBJ final series is more intriguing. They were drafted the same year, and they play the same position. In a Lakers/Cavs series, will we ever see Kobe guard LBJ?? I doubt it, as Lebron would just push Kobe around and score at will. I'd rather see Billups go up against Mo and Melo play Lebron.
Pat (Denver)
maybe but they are Trina's lips and she coulde whoop up on some dudes
Anthony (Los Angeles)
Hasheem Thabeet. I think he'll be a lot better in the NBA than people give him credit for. He's such a defensive force.
Aaron (Denver)
Rob...Jordan is the king of the Powder...he just didn't make a huge production out of it, he just had fun with Red Kerr at the press table.
Demetric (Orlando)
I'm seriously disappointed that not only TNT, but ESPN and NBA-TV followed suit and didn't show the Coutney Lee dunk over Leborn. But all showed the blockfoul he gave Howard.
Paul (Denver)
The Cubs don't need Peavy, it's obvious they need a hitter and bullpen arm.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
All season, there's been concern over whether the Lakers and Cleveland have enough surrounding their aces to get out of their respective conferences. Let me throw this out there, does Kobe and LeBron both need to take more shots away from the likes of Derek Fisher and Mo Williams in crunch-time?
jarvis Chicago IL
If the Cavs win the titl Skip will most likely say je is not impressed and make up some excuse o why it is not legit and then say he must win another one
Aaron (Denver)
Rob and Chet...Jordan did it first...KG grew up in Chicago, wonder where he got the idea?
Sean (TR NJ)
Hook thats funny. Boy would Peavy's arm be tired lol
Louis (Waco Texas)
Didn't KG start the cloud of chalk and LaBron jaked him
Demetric (Orlando)
Hasheem Thabeet only has force when he pretends he's a Jedi Knight
Eric ((New York City))
Peavy needs to come to the Mets, and I agree with Rob about Ozzie Guillen coming to manage the Mets too.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Louis, Jordan was doing the chalk while KG was in Diapers.
Umor ((detroit))
If Lebron wins it,Skip will give him his props.
Tom (River North)
Thabeet is good defensively, but there are way too many games where he disappears on offense. How can you make the guy a top 5 pick if he never scores?
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
I thought Thabeet would say he would want to model his game off of Yinka Dare.
rob (miami)
i mean KG took it to the spotlight and it became his signature
Scott, Orange County, Ca. [via mobile]
When You use the plural of canada goose it's canada geese not canadian geese.
DJ (Minneapolis)
Maybe Peavy was really wanting to stay in Sand Diego. Or maybe seeing a 20-1 loss at The Cell changed his mind. Either way tough loss for the Sox.
Anthony (Los Angeles)
I bet Peavy is happy he didn't go to the White Sox. They lost 20-1! 20-1!!!
CULI MACC (DAYTONA FL.)
THABEET IS A NICE KID BUT I DON'T SEE HIM BEING A STAR IN THE NBA..
Eric (New York City)
Peavy supposedly wants to stay in the NL, so I think that's mainly a reason. Something is telling me he wants to come to NY and play for my Mets, PERFECT FIT!!
Craig (temple, Tx)
LOL good one calvin w that's comedy
Aaron (Denver)
Tom Defense wins championships. He's 7'3" and athletic you cannot pass that up.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Peavy to the Mets would be a good fit. The Mets need another in their rotation and the play at a pitchers park like Peavy is used to in San Diego.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Thabeet sounds like he is Dikembe Mutombos long lost son.
Umor ((detroit))
Thabeat wil be like D Howard when he first got it. defense first and slowly become an offesive threat. Maybe learn the sky hook cause with his body he anit gonna be a banger.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Chet, the drop-off in star power from Kobe Bryant to Carmelo Anthony is a free-fall off a cliff. The masses want Kobe there.
Aaron (Denver)
The kid looks more like Jack Sparrow than Rollie Fingers
Sean (TR NJ)
I want Favre to come back and go to Minny though because I want to see that tension and media circus in GB when they come to visit. If your a fan what do you do is it Benedict Arnold or still the savior hero Favre. I would tend to think a mixed bag
Craig (Temple TX)
RIP to all veterans lost and sports figures.(salute Pat Tillman, Ted Williams, and any I forgot. Happy Memorial Day everyone
Anthony (Los Angeles)
jarvis, the reason why Skip wouldn't be impressed is because its ONE TITLE! Kobe has won THREE! Jordan won SIX!
Demetric (Orlando)
Its is obviously clear that both Jerry West and the Lakers are suffering from separation disorder. Just how many times, does he have to bail out his old club? He traded Casoul for nothing and now motavating Kobe. Just how many passes does the HOF and logo get?
Eric (New York City)
Absolutely Hook, especially with the rotation being such a question mark after Johan. Johan and Peavy as that 1-2 combo would definitely put the Mets over the top.
Craig (Texas)
Man never knew staches had that man nicknames

Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
If Peavy goes to the East coast he will play for the Phillies as he wants to play for a winner not the Mets...
Michael Kim (11:42 AM)
Jarvis... you mean like Dr, J... Mr. October?
rob (miami)
peavey is scared of AL wants to stay in the nl so he can face the pitcher and keep his ERA down for a future big time deal
Aaron (Denver)
Bocce Ball or Horse Shoes...Which can dominate a bbq?
Marcus (Chicago)
The only reason Peavy wants to stay in the NL is he is scared of getting shelled in the AL. Petco is not an easy place to hit and he would go from a great pitcher to a good one in the AL. No matter what team he would play for.
Craig (Texas)
Lebron has done everything he was hyped to do so far most seem to 4get he took a substandard team to a finals already
Shawn (Pton, IN)
the weathers nice in san diego too
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
The best players in the NBA ARE the best players because their impact on a team helps them win titles. Rarely do you ever see an ensemble team defeat a capable team with a true ace.
Pete (So Cal)
Sorry to say it but Peavy would get crushed in the AL. Smart move by him to stay.
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Peavy would look good in Phillies Red. Can you say REPEAT????
DJ (Minneapolis)
Aaron your missing lawn darts. Best BBQ game ever.
James Denver
Culli Macc when and i mean when the Bears make playoffs and Broncos are sitting at home will you stop using all Capital letters.
Michael Kim (11:44 AM)
Why are people bashing Peavy about not wanting to play for the White Sox? If he wanted to play for a non-playoff team, he doesn't have to leave beautiful San Diego for that.
rob (miami)
ESPN needs to stop talking about Farve, it's really annoying. DO the Jim Rome thing and don't talk about him until he signs
Craig (TX)
Michael Dr.J has a ring what you talking bout I think he means more malone stockton barkley ewing type
Eric (New York City)
I'm not going to argue about Mets and Phillies. All I'm saying is if we get him that 1-2 Combo with Johan is going to put us over the top.
Aaron (Denver)
Peavy ERA jumps by one full run on the road...which still makes him really good.
Michael Kim (11:45 AM)
Craig... So does Reggie Jackson... I think you missed my point. That's ok.
Michael Kim (11:46 AM)
Titles... get it?
Michael Kim (11:46 AM)

Getting back to Peavy... Where he wants to play and who wants him or is willing to give up the prospects to get him are two different things... Unfortunately for him.
Chet (LA)
Lebron James is 23!!!! Think about that people. To say because he hasn't won a title means he isn't great is just stupid. Give the guy a chance with a decent team, and he'll win one. Mo Williams is the missing piece, like Pippen was for Jordan. No one can win a championship by themselves. Give the KID a break......or at least time to prove himself
Michael Kim (11:51 AM)
Chet - thank you -- especially from a guy in LA. He could still miss this year but easily have 15 years to haul in the hardware.
rob (miami)
2010-lebron to the celtics

What pitcher wouldn't want to play for the Phillies?? Can you say run support.. I think Phillies have score under 5 runs in 4 games this season.

Craig (TX)
Thanks tom nj im a vet so got to give it up to those who served and those that paid the ultimate sacrifice
Michael Kim (11:52 AM)
Paul, pitchers think about ERA and giving up homers as much as wins. That's why they weren't flocking to Coors Field -- even when they had those great offenses.
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Michael: Peavy is getting a bad rap because his agent said he might change his mind tomorrow. What a joke it would be for him to accept the trade to the Sox only after pitching against the Cubs, like he is mad at the Cubs for not making an offer.
Michael Kim (11:53 AM)
I don't think it's anything against the White Sox specifically -- if they were leadng the AL Central, looking like a contender, he'd go, in my opinion.
CULI MACC (DAYTONA)

Atleast you have a sense of humor about it Michael

I believe Lebron will leave Cleveland for the Knicks when his contract is up. He still does not have the help he really wants and deserves.
Drew (Buffalo)
This should be changed from "your take" to "Lebron, Farve, and Kobe chat" SERIOUSLY. how much can you possibly say about those 3 people?
Chet (LA)
The Jake Peavy saga is just another reason why teams shouldn't give no trade clauses in contracts. You have to give it to the Red Sox, who absolutely will not give a player a no trade clause. It handicaps the team.
Michael Kim (11:55 AM)
Sean... It's all good here. I can give and take. It's sports.
White Sox Fans (Chicago)
What does a Momma Bear on birth control and the World Series have in common? NO CUBS

I do not think it is a coincedance that Peavy said NO to the Sox as the Cubs and Jim Hendry come to town...

Umor ( detroit)
Gotta go. great chat today. alot of fun. Have a great and safe weekend. And 1 more thing...GO WINGS.
Chet (LA)
The problem with Peavy going to the Mets, is that the Mets don't have a very good minor leagues system. That's the reason the Yankees can't get big trades done anymore. Teams aren't going to take your C & D prospects for a top flight player. The Mets need to draft better and get a good minor league system in place in order to make trades for the likes of Peavy (they gave up their top notch guys for Johan).
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
Skip is right about Peavy not wanting to move his kids to Chicago.. He wants to move them to St. Louis....
Paul (West Palm Beach Fl.)
