Welcome everyone. Scott will be back from the cafe with Diet Coke in hand...in just seconds. Send in those questions...
Scott Van Pelt (1:31 PM)
I'm here...I swear. I'm here.
Michael (Kentucky)
Hey Scott!! I think you are absolutely HILARIOUS!!!! You seriously need a TV show!! Are you on Twitter?
Scott Van Pelt (1:33 PM)
Funny you should mention that. Starting July 6th you can watch myself & Ryen Russillo on "The Scott Van Pelt Show" on ESPN2. (2-4 ET will be the show, 3-4 will be on ESPN 2) And yes, you can follow our show's Twitter @The_REAL_TVP
Michael (Kentucky)
Hey Scott!! Did you see KISS on the American Idol finale yesterday!?!?
Scott Van Pelt (1:34 PM)
No, but I'm sure plenty of people did. Just not me. I was watching basketball.
Michael (Kentucky)
Hey Scott! I noticed you do a lot of golf coverage. Do you golf much yourself? If so, could I beat you?
Scott Van Pelt (1:35 PM)
I don't have as much time to golf as I'd like to (working two jobs and all), but yeah, if you're any good, you could beat me.
Joe (LA)
Yo Scott, you in to video games at all? Which system would you buy right now?
Scott Van Pelt (1:36 PM)
I don't have a ton of time to play those either...but I do have an xbox 360 and I'm partial to that since it's the one that I know. But, adding Radio to my plate eliminated most of my late-night post-SportsCenter gaming.
Michael (Kentucky)
Scott, given the Magic's success against the Cavs this season, and now being up 1-0 in the series, what do you think their chances are of pulling off the upset and heading to the Finals?
Scott Van Pelt (1:37 PM)
I think it's amazing how our perception can change based on one game. I still like Cleveland but any series in any sport is about matchups. And it's clear Orlando presents some matchup problems for Cleveland.
Ashley (SLC)
Scott with you getting your show back and all, will Carl from ATHF be making any appearances?
Scott Van Pelt (1:37 PM)
Provided he can be convinced to do so...without question. I'm all about MORE Carl, not LESS Carl.
Matt
SVP, are you a KISS fan?
Scott Van Pelt (1:38 PM)
Umm................no? Detroit Rock City is fine. But I'm not in the army or anything.
Preston (Boise ID)
I was listening to you on the radio yesterday and you were talking about all the busts in the top ten of the nba draft over the last few years, and that's true. But isn't that the nature of the draft? Do the same thing w Football and you get some Cade McNowns and Andre Wadsworths ... not just the busts everyone remembers.
Scott Van Pelt (1:40 PM)
Sure there are busts in any draft. But considering there are 22 players to choose from in football, and only 5 in basketball, it seems like there are fewer in football. Also consider the NBA draft lasts only 2 rounds, and in the NFL draft, teams consistently find starters in the sixth round. More players, more depth, the busts don't seem quite as glaring...but they do happen...you are right.
Sean (TR NJ)
Hio Scott thanks for the time. With the Canes vs Pens game on tonight what chance do you give the Canes to pull out a big time win. If Ward is awsome as he has been all playoffs long they got a shot right?
Scott Van Pelt (1:42 PM)
Yes, they are the least discussed team of any in the final four of the NBA and NHL. I don't think they beat Pittsburgh...but I didn't think they'd score 2 goals on Martin Brodeur in the last 2:30 in Game 7 either.
Sean (TR NJ)
Did you see how exhausted Lebron was after that game I thought he was going to have to be carried off the court but I did notice no teammates come to help whats up with that?
Scott Van Pelt (1:42 PM)
I think that it's the typical "wander off the floor in a group" deal. I don't think they were neccesarily aware...had they been I think you would have seen the entire team there to help if he needed it. I think they just didn't know why he wasn't there.
Justin (Chicago)
The Hangover will be better than Old School. Discuss.
Scott Van Pelt (1:44 PM)
Vegas as a movie has become "cliche". It's impossible to capture what goes on with a group of guys in that God-forsaken town. The trailers of this one however, leave me inclined to agree with you. You've got the guy with the baby, Tyson, somewhere marries a wh#%, good times!!!
Zavon (Madison, WI)
Hi Scott, my name is Zavon and I am 5 years old. My aunt is helping me send youu a few questions that I have. How is your cat with the broken leg? Did you keep him or did you find him aa new home? I have Maryland Crocs, do you have any? Corcs rulee. Finally, my dad said I should ask you/....what is a lap dance? You said it yesterday aaand I thought it sounded very funny since laps can't dance.
Scott Van Pelt (1:46 PM)
Wow...no crocs. The cat with the broken leg got surgery, healed well, and was placed in a happy home (not mine). As for the lap dance, I'll suggest that your father ought to answer that for you at an appropriate time -- which probably isn't today...or tomorrow.
Rob (Atlanta)
Hey Scot, when will Brett Favre finally go away?
Scott Van Pelt (1:47 PM)
Never. That's the answer. Never, just never.
Urban Meyer
You're either for KISS or against them. If you're for them, you can buy tickets in 37F.
tom nj [via mobile]
Scott, since you are into video games I have an idea. Mike Vicks Dog Fight? A winner?
Scott Van Pelt (1:49 PM)
People are either bored and/or drunk today evidently.
Zavon (Madison, WI)
Scott, My Aunt says you are sweet but a bit of a chicken. I say she is just silly/. Are you coming to Andy Norths golf event in Madison?
Scott Van Pelt (1:52 PM)
For a 5 year old, you are a prolific question-asker. Sadly, I am over-booked and can't be at Andy's deal. And if you're Aunt's not a chicken, she could show you what a lap dance is. So there.
Kylie (Austin)
Since Favre is working out with high school kids again... If you were a HS football player, who would your dream Future Hall of Fame workout buddy be?
Scott Van Pelt (1:53 PM)
If it's in any sport, it would be Jordan. For football, probably Mark Moseley when he had the perm.
Rob (Atlanta)
Okay seriously. I am one of the 12 hockey fans in the U.S and I was wanting your take on the Pens and their chance to finish this series and beat the Red Wings?
Scott Van Pelt (1:54 PM)
I like Pittsburgh to move on for a rematch, but I've said for four months that no one is beating Detroit in the spring, and I'm not backing off that.
Sean (TR NJ)
Scott your thoughts on Denver beating LA I just don't get the feel LA is a dominant as we all thought they would be
Scott Van Pelt (1:56 PM)
I have thought for a while that Denver could be them, a lot of folks got knocked off that when they blew the first game. If they win tonight they can win the whole series.
Ashley (SLC)
If you had to work on Sportcenter with one anchor for the rest of your SC career, who would it be and why?
Scott Van Pelt (1:57 PM)
Neil Everett for a million reasons. In a nutshell, we genuinely enjoy each other's company. But mostly, because he recognizes that I'm a star. (that was a joke) Brock and Chest 4 ever!!!!
Scott Van Pelt (1:58 PM)
Time to do a Radio show. Hope the weather is as good where you are as it is here...and if it is, you are forgiven if you don't listen in order to go hit a golf ball. Mike almost blew off the show to do that today, and there's a 50/50 chance that Phil will be leaving mid-show to go to Tunxis.
