Hey everyone, Scott will just be a few minutes late as he is taping an interview with Tony Gwynn for tomorrow's show. In the meantime, feel free to get your questions in!
Joe (NYC)
Miami or LA, which do you prefer for vacation?
Scott Van Pelt (1:34 PM)
Miami, it's not close...South Beach is smaller, you don't need to drive anywhere once you're there. LA is too spread out for me. And I never can figure out the 3 hour time difference, I always just keep my watch on Eastern Time.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Maybe if the NHL used Crosby and Malkin puppets more people would get interested in the best spring playoffs going.
Scott Van Pelt (1:35 PM)
It's a valid point...and at least those puppets would be in the finals! That's the problem with everyone assuming they know how things will play out.
Scott Van Pelt (1:35 PM)
Okay...Tony is actually on the line now...so give me a few minutes.
J (Ohio)
SVP, Only a couple of weeks until the new Tiger Woods video game comes out. Outside of the bar down the street that has indoor video golf where you actually hit the ball into the screen, it's the best way to pass a rainy summer day...
Radio Staff (1:36 PM)
We're excited about the release of the game...Scott says he will get a whole bunch of freebies for us staff-members. But we'll see...we'll keep you updated.
john- pc bch,fl
Joe-try Panama City
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Radio Staff, now there's one I've never seen as a chat handle.
Radio Staff (1:38 PM)
It's amazing what we can do in a pinch...Scott has to stop working so many jobs and making us stall his chats.
John (Chicago)
To Joe in NYC, if you've never been to either place gotta go South Beach. So much to do, great people watching. Just better in general.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Phil Ivey and Tiger Woods: twins separated at birth?
Radio Staff (1:39 PM)
The difference is Tiger plays in a game where less luck is involved...so he has a better chance to win consistently. If he gets rivered on the 18th...that's his own fault.
Kylie (Austin)
Phil Ivey would be more fun to party with.
Cosmo (anytown, USA)
Why not laser eye surgery? Way better than trying to remember where you left your glasses the night before while in a drunken haze.
Radio Staff (1:40 PM)
Do you think anyone would recognize SVP without glasses?
Joe (Miami)
South beach has got the better, and less stuck up girls!!!
Derek (Albany, NY)
You could always get frames without the lens, like Weird Al Yankovic has to keep his image.
AMR (Cleveland)
SVP is super cute without the glasses!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I was going strictly on appearance with that comparison, RS.
Radio Staff (1:42 PM)
Phil Ivey doesn't look like Tiger IMO. image.google.
Radio Staff (1:42 PM)
Okay Scott is wrapping the interview...
AMR (Cleveland)
Do the Cavs have any chance in this series against the Magic?
Scott Van Pelt (1:45 PM)
You're talking about a team that won 66 games and you're asking them to go on a 3 game winning streak, and there's no reason they coudln't do that. But right now, it's hard to envision them doing it. It seems they have a chance, but it doesn't seem like a great chance.
Kylie (Austin)
Van Peezie... Will you be watching Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals?
Scott Van Pelt (1:46 PM)
Yes, I'm looking forward to it. These two teams were clearly better than their conference finals opposition. It was interesting to me that they each got pushed in the semi's. Sometimes that's when they face their toughest opposition. There's a ton of talent on both sides, so I am interested.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
SVP: How many titles can you see LeBron leading the Knicks to?
Scott Van Pelt (1:47 PM)
Multiple.
AMR (Cleveland)
3 questions: 1. Did you ever solve the squirrel problem at the estate, 2. Are you going to hit Dewey this year, and 3. What is your fav SC commercial?
Scott Van Pelt (1:49 PM)
1. There's no defeating squirrels, there is only co-existing with them. 2. Yes, my idiot friends and I will make our annual pilgrammage to Dewey. 3. The one where Kenny Mayne gets hired and walks in with a fur coat on and asks Bob Ley "where's the catering?"
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I like the new commercial with Joe Mauer. Well done.
Scott Van Pelt (1:50 PM)
That's actually an old one! So is the Carmelo ad. We keep these around in a vault somewhere...and when a guy goes crazy like Mauer or makes the conference finals like Melo, we dust them off and start running them again.
Marc (Malden, MA)
SVP, I know you're a fellow Skins fan. Does the thought of Michael Vick as a Redskin make you want to vomit? Not only because of what he did, but also because he's not good.
Scott Van Pelt (1:51 PM)
On the list of Redskins signees that made me want to vomit, Vick would be very low actually. It's not like some of the fantasy football-like moves that have been made in the past. I'm actually pulling for this guy to get a second chance and make it work.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
So then any SC Big Papi commercials have been permanently retired then, right?
Scott Van Pelt (1:52 PM)
They're still around...ya never know. The Large Father could get hot!
AMR (Cleveland)
Does your new show format mean that you get a new studio? Will all of the artwork make the move?
Scott Van Pelt (1:52 PM)
It's a studio you will be familiar with. We will be holding an informal survey to determine which art makes the move. Stay tuned.
Cosmo (Anytown, USA)
How crazy is it that the Cavs are a LeBron miracle 3 away from being swept by a team that is missing its starting PG?
Scott Van Pelt (1:54 PM)
I agree and at some point Stan Van Gundy needs to start getting some credit. They've done a great job. To be fair to Cleveland, the outcome has been in doubt with the ball in the air at the buzzer in three of the four games.
AMR (Cleveland)
On your path to total domination, how long before we call the network ESVPN?
Scott Van Pelt (1:55 PM)
That's right there on the Mayan Calendar...with the world ending. So let's say, 2012! Hopefully a day before the world ends.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Glad to see Ryen getting some regular air time with the new show. Jamie Quirk finally becomes an everyday player.
Scott Van Pelt (1:55 PM)
Russillo may not be a Hall of Famer like Tirico, but he may be an All-Star. It will be fun.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Five minute warning, SVP.
Jason (Kisling's)
Care to discuss the allegations against Calipari?
Scott Van Pelt (1:57 PM)
We're actually going to discuss that on the show...which starts in 3 minutes. We'll be talking about it in about 15 minutes from....NOW.
Scott Van Pelt (1:57 PM)
Thanks everyone...sorry for my tardiness. See you next week same time same place.
ESPNRadio.com (1:58 PM)
Thanks everyone. Go to ESPNRadio.com to listen to the show live. Mike & Scott will talk to Jerry West, Nicklas Lidstrom, Peter Gammons, and Hubie Brown.
