NBA's 65 in 65: Carl Landry

Landry was drafted as the 31st overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics with the first pick in the second round but was later traded to the Houston Rockets for a future second round pick. In his two seasons with the Rockets, Carl has averaged 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Quynten (Cathedral City)
hey Carl, how is it like playing with players like Yao Ming and Ron Artest?
Carl Landry (2:02 PM)
It's amazing! I had the chance to watch them as a young player. It's cool playing with a great player in Yao and a great defensive player in Ron.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
You guys made a great run in the playoffs without T-Mac and Yao. How far could you have gone if they were healthy?
Carl Landry (2:04 PM)
We have two superstars on the team in Tracy and Yao. Tracy was leading the league in scoring a couple of years ago and Yao is the best center in the league. If we had them both healthy, we would be in the NBA Finals.
Russell Los Angeles, California
Who was your toughest player to defend in these playoffs?
Carl Landry (2:05 PM)
It would have to be LaMarcus Aldridge. He's talk, quick and a very skilled player. He's young but he's only going to get better.
byron j. (houston tx)
Hey Carl, if you were to pick a starting five team from the rockets all time roster, who would they be?
Carl Landry (2:07 PM)
That's tough! Yao Ming, Moses Malone, Clyde Drexler, Calvin Murphy and Hakeem Olajuwon.
adam(Houston)
I live in Houston and realize you're a key component to are success. What do you think we are missing to make us a legit threat to win the Championship?
Carl Landry (2:08 PM)
Just being healthy, we have to stay healthy. Ever since I've been here, somebody has been hurt.
Justin (Melbourne, Australia)
With the team showing how it can play with passion and energy. What are your expectations for the team next year and yourself?
Carl Landry (2:10 PM)
We'll have more experience and a healthy group of veterans. I see the Rockets winning a NBA Championship next season.
Joey Joe Joe (houston)
It appeared that last season you worked on your mid-range jumper. What aspect of your game are you gonna focus on this off-season?
Carl Landry (2:10 PM)
Creating for others, ball handling, and my defense.
Kevin - Orlando
Does Orlando seal the deal tonight?
Carl Landry (2:11 PM)
(Laughing) It's going to be a good game. Cleveland's back is against the wall and they will bring their A game out tonight.
Chris (NYC)
If the Lakers and Magic make it to the finals, who do you think will win and what is the key to their success?
Carl Landry (2:13 PM)
I think the Western Conference is a little stronger than the East. I think bench play and defense is the key to winning and who ever bench shows up will win.
Ellis ( Los Angeles)
Who would win in a foot race: Lebron or Aaron Brooks?
Carl Landry (2:13 PM)
(Laughing) Without a doubt Aaron Brooks, he's that fastest player that Ive ever played with.
Vince (Whitehall PA)
We all watch Kobe and Lebron on our TV's and see the greatness. How much better do they seem when you're on the same court as them?
Carl Landry (2:15 PM)
When I'm on the court I don't see it because I'm caught up in the game. When I'm on the bench, I think to myself "wow". They make incredible shots and are amazing players.
Jeff - Houston, TX
Whatup Carl! What's your favorite place to eat in Houston?
Carl Landry (2:15 PM)
Mikki's Soul Food
Sean, Houston
Carl my man, do you have a nickname that the team calls you?
Carl Landry (2:16 PM)
In college they called me C Lan but I don't really have one now. You can make one up for me.
paul (ohio)
do you think the cavs will still win that series. I'm really impressed that so many experts still pick them to win it in 7...
Carl Landry (2:17 PM)
We'll see tonight. It's hard to win three games in a row especially in the playoffs. They dug themselves into a hole and now they have to dig themselves out.
Schultz (Memphis)
Carl, I'm amazed at how good you have become in the league this quickly. What advice would you give to a player who is undrafted trying to make the league?
Carl Landry (2:18 PM)
Just don't stop working. The sky is the limit, If you have a goal work at it, anything is possible if you work hard at it.
Carl Landry (2:19 PM)
Go Rockets!
