Buzzmaster (4:33 PM)
Colt's just finishing up taping a segment for tonight's SportsCenter. Be sure to watch the show to see him on it. He'll be over to us just as soon as he's finished!
Buzzmaster (4:40 PM)
Colt is walking in right now!
Steven (NJ)
What are you doing now that school is over for summer break?
Colt McCoy (4:43 PM)
This time until June 4 is our time off. June 4, everybody reports back to Austin for summer school and summer workouts. That's in a couple of days. At that point, we start working out every day, conditioning, lifting weights, 7 on 7 and that goes through the summer until fall camp starts.
stephen, austin, tx
what part of your game have you worked on the most this offseason.
Colt McCoy (4:44 PM)
There are several things that I have worked on. One of the things is leadership. A couple of other things, learning the offense more in depth, and really working on studying defenses and coverages.
JB McCluskey, Austin Texas
Colt, here comes a very serious personal question. A question which may require a deep and perhaps uncomfortable exploration of your soul and your being. Take your time with this please. Best bbq in Lockhart: Smitty's or Krueze's? If you need a few days to decide it's understandable.
Colt McCoy (4:45 PM)
Oh, Krueze's. It's got to be Krueze's.
Trey: Dallas, Texas
Hey Colt, I have a bet with my friends: If Brian Orakpo and Sergio Kindle arm wrestled who would win?
Colt McCoy (4:45 PM)
Oh man. That would be the longest arm wrestling match in the history of arm wrestling.
Colt McCoy (4:46 PM)
I'm going to have to go with Orakpo. He's one year older. He has one more year in the weight room.
Austin Texas
How do you feel aobut the non conference schedule?
Colt McCoy (4:46 PM)
I think our non conference schedule, if we play our best, sets up really nice for us. It will be a good stretch of games leading up to conference.
Steve (Raleigh, NC)
Hi Colt, I am a big fan. Are you watching any baseball? Your Horns look great.
Colt McCoy (4:47 PM)
Yes I have. I was actually at the 25 inning game in Austin. We need to hit the ball a little better, but we'll be all right. Austin Wood is the man.
Mike(san francisco, CA)
As a Big 12 guy, what is the perception by you and your team-mates of the Pac-10? That it is a weak conference, a mediocre conference, or a pretty strong conference?
Colt McCoy (4:49 PM)
My only view of the Pac 10 is that we played Arizona State in the Holiday Bowl last year and they were the co-champs of the Pac 10. We ended up winning the Bowl. I think there is great college football players every where. Each team will have solid athletes. I think each year, each conference has the ability to be very good.

Is 'Colt' a nickname or a given name? Why not 'Mavrick' or 'Goose'?
Colt McCoy (4:50 PM)
Top Gun is one of my favorite movies. I wouldn't mind being named Maverick or Goose, but I like Colt. And yes, Colt is a given name.
Rusty Beaumont, Tx
This year the team and you by what most experts say are picked to make it to the National Championship! How will you handle the pressure? Also how will you keep the team chemistry high (Like '05) and not thrown off by all this pressure?
Colt McCoy (4:51 PM)
Our goal and expectations are set high for ourselves every year. We understand how hard we have to work and prepare. Each game is important. We're doing the things right now to put ourselves in the postion to be successful next year.
San Antonio, TX
Colt, describe what it is like to play for the University of Texas, especially being a Texas kid who had a boyhood dream come true.
Colt McCoy (4:51 PM)
It is a childhood dream. It's everything I expected it to be and more. It's tough, but very rewarding.
Justin, Lewisville, Texas
What do you think about comments from Florida players like Aaron Hernandez saying that the Big 12 isn't nearly as tough of a conference as the SEC?
Colt McCoy (4:53 PM)
Well, in the Big 12, we beat each other up every week. Defenses in the Big 12 has to face the top offenses. That's why I think the offenses in the Big 12 are so successful because they have to face different things. The SEC offenses are all the same. I feel like there are great athletes in every conference. I feel that each conference every year has a chanc eo be great.
Mike, Iraq
Colt, How is this years receiving corps coming along? Glad to have Shipley back as a go to target and help develope some of the younger guys. I'm looking forward to another great season, I'll be home for the second half.
Colt McCoy (4:54 PM)
This year's receiving corp is going to be fine. We call them young receivers, but they're having a great spring and a great summer. They're going to step up for us and be key players. Having Jordan back will help us tremendously. Our receiving corp won't miss a beat.
Albert from AL
Its your childhood. Youre in the backyard throwing the football with your friends. What quarterback were you?
Colt McCoy (4:54 PM)
Steve Young.
Jeremy Bailey (Bristol, Connecticut)
How much of a part did missing out on the Heisman play in your return for another season?
Colt McCoy (4:55 PM)
Very little. My goal is to be the best tha tI can be for Texas and give our team the best chance to win every time I step out on the field. If we play well and we win, that means I'll be successful in the end. But my main goal is to help Texas win.
Will Wakefield: Houston, TX
Colt, What is your greatest motivation for working so hard over the summer and what does it take to be a leader of the Texas football team?
Colt McCoy (4:56 PM)
There is not much motivation needed. Every year we set our goals and expectations high. Last year, being so close, that's enough motivation to work hard and be the best that we can be.
Justin, Lewisville, Texas
If you were a superhero who would you be and why?
Colt McCoy (4:57 PM)
Batman. Superman's Tebow, I'll be Batman.
Brian (Seattle, Wa)
Colt, What is the loudest stadium you have played in? we would love to see you be drafted by Seattle! thanks
Colt McCoy (4:58 PM)
I'd probably say Texas A+M. I've been in places when i was a redshirt we played in Ohio State and the Rose Bowl and those were pretty loud. But the games that I've played in, Texas A+M.
Forest (Austin, TX)
What are your plans for Jan 7th 2010? I was thinking we could all meet up in LA with about 100,000 friends. Feel free to bring your heisman trophy with you...Should be a blast. See you there. Texas Fight!!!!!
Colt McCoy (4:58 PM)
I'm all in!
Colt McCoy (4:58 PM)
See you there!
Patrick (Houston, TX)
Do you still stay in contact with Vince Young? How does he feel about the horns championship run this year?
Colt McCoy (4:59 PM)
I do stay in touch with Vince. We have a great relationship. He keeps up with our team. We're all based on hard work and preparation, and that's what we're doing right now.
Zak (Chattanooga, TN)
How does the running game look for the 2009 season? Any 'backs seem like they're going to emerge?
Colt McCoy (5:00 PM)
It looks great. We have several guys that can play running back and fill that role. Coach Applewhite has each of them ready to go when their name is called.
dominic smith vallejo, california
is there any game you would want to start over and do again?
Colt McCoy (5:01 PM)
Actually, as a QB, being able to learn from your wins and losses really develops you and makes you who you are. All the experiences I've had made me the player I am today.
Harper, Dallas Tx
How will you help groom the freshman QB from Lake Travis, with this being your last year and IM sure you would like to focus on things you need to get better at, will you have time for him?
Colt McCoy (5:02 PM)
Yeah, that has kind of been passed down from generation to generation as far as QB's from Texas. Major did it for Vince and Vince did it for me. I'll do it for Garrett and he'll do it for someone some day.
J.C., San Antonio, TX
Hey Colt. It's about 10 minutes before you run through the tunnel to take the field. What's going through you head, what're some pre-game rituals, and do you still get chills seeing and hearing that BIG DKR crowd?
Colt McCoy (5:04 PM)
Yes, I still get chills every time I run out from the tunnel. What's going on in my mind is game planning stuff. I'm ready to get the game started. I really don't do that much pre game ritual type things before the game starts. I do read my Bible before I go out. Once I shut that and we do the Lord's Prayer, it's go time.
Justin, Durham, NC
Where do you see yourself 20 years from now, in terms of your football playing/coaching career and your ministry? What do you want to accomplish as Colt McCoy?
Colt McCoy (5:05 PM)
Once my college time is over, I hope to pursue the NFL, because I want to play football as long as I can. After that, I am graduating from UT with a degree. I'm not sure where that will lead me. I'm going to see what happens with the NFL.
Emily (Dallas, TX)
What regular season game are you looking forward to the most this year?
Colt McCoy (5:05 PM)
I think every year, I look forward to the OU game. That's always a fun game. A game with lots of tradition. I also think this year heading up to Wyoming, it should be cool.
Chris (Austin, TX)
Where's the best fishing hole around Austin?
Colt McCoy (5:06 PM)
I can't give away my secrets. But if I were going to go today, I would probably head out to Lake Bastrop.
Colt McCoy (5:07 PM)
Thanks for chatting. You all had some great questions. This year is going to be fun, I can't wait.
