Tony Stewart will again host the dirt Late Model race for charity on Wednesday night at Eldora Speedway, which can be seen live on HBO Pay-Per-View at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. The race includes 25 of the world's best drivers, including Stewart, Newman, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards and others. The race will benefit four charities that support the military and their families.
Newman drives the No. 39 car for Stewart's new racing team. The car is sponsored by the U.S. Army. Currently, Newman sits in fifth place in the points standings. He has seven top 10 finishes this year, including four top fives.

Ryan Newman should be here soon!
Buzzmaster (2:38 PM)
Hang on everyone, we're working on tracking down Ryan.
Eric (greencastle, IN)
Is it true you drive the World's Fastest Lawn mower, too?
Ryan Newman (2:40 PM)
Yeah, I've got four Dixie Choppers. I was on one this morning mowing at the house.
Roger (Denver)
Now that Tony is technically your boss, there's no way that you could have said no to racing in this dirt track race, was there?
Ryan Newman (2:40 PM)
I look forward to it. I feel honored to be able to be there and participate. To have Tony be there and be my boss/teammate, it's pretty cool to just be invited, especially with the waiting list of guys that want to be there.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
How are you and Tony doing this well when y'all have not been a team for over a year and y'all don't have any testing?
Ryan Newman (2:41 PM)
We've tested a little bit, but not like we used to test. I'm glad that we don't. We're doing well. We're still looking for our first points victory, but overall, it's been a good season to date.
James from Wolcott Indiana
How often do you get to come back home to relax?
Ryan Newman (2:42 PM)
Not very often to Indiana. I enjoy my time at home in North Carolina. But to my parents home in Indiana, I haven't been there in a while.
Melissa( Allentown,PA)
Hey Ryan, great job so far this season. Are you surprised at how well SHR is performing so far this season?
Ryan Newman (2:43 PM)
I think that it's been a product of the effort going into it. Everyone at the shop has done a great job. The Hendrick engines and chassis are performing well. We're in a good position. We just need to keep our noses to the grind stone and keep going.
Charlotte, NC
Who has the edge at Eldora? You or Stewart?
Ryan Newman (2:44 PM)
Tony does for sure. He's raced more laps there. He owns the place. But that doesn't mean he can't be beat.
Jeff (Clayton, NC)
Ryan, been a fan of yours for a long time now. Really glad to see you running so well this year. What's been the biggest difference from your prior team to this new one? Is Army going to be your perm sponsor? Best of luck the rest of the year!
Ryan Newman (2:44 PM)
People. People make the ultimate difference. They're the ones that weld the cars together. Have the meetings to make the organization stronger. That's the same in every organization.
Bonnie from Enfield, Connecticut
Do you have to do more sponsor work, more appearances, more interviews, now that you're with the Army, higher in points, with a high profile team? How are you handling that?
Ryan Newman (2:45 PM)
I wouldn't say I'm doing more appearances. I'm still doing them. I was racing for Roger Penske, one of the most prolific car owners. I just do what I have to do. Appearances, team meetings, functions, we do what we have to do to be successful. That's our day to day motto.
Josh(Butler,Tn)
Ryan, Great run at Dover. What makes running at Eldora speedway so much fun?
Ryan Newman (2:46 PM)
To me, it's the greatest dirt track ever. The banking. It's round. You have to man up if you're going to run up by the fence. It's a lot of fun. The atmosphere. It's close to Indiana. A lot of farm and agriculture in the area. There's a lot of dedicated fans taht will show up on a Wednesday night.
Mike(Council Bluffs, IA)
Hey Ryan, I've been a huge fan since darn near day one. You're recent success has me absolutely stoked. Enough of that though. My question is, would you ever want to be an Owner/Driver like Tony in the Cup series? Personally, I would love to see you own your own team, maybe 5 years down the road.
Ryan Newman (2:47 PM)
Thanks for the compliment. PErsonally, I don't have the aspiration to do that. I enjoy the less responsibility and therefore more time to enjoy things away from the race track.
Justin Behling (Boyceville, WI)
How do you feel about the idea of implementing double-file restarts into every NASCAR race?
Ryan Newman (2:48 PM)
I think it's a good idea. I think it will sharpen up the racing and make it more fun and enjoyable for the fans. I think it's good all around.
Joe (Fleetwood PA)
Being that you are a grad from Purdue but are from South Bend, do you route for your home team or your alum.
Ryan Newman (2:49 PM)
I really don't have a favorite team. I never root against Purdue, but I'm not very big into the stick and ball sports in general. I just like watching a good game.
Gerry, New Jersey
With running Hendrick engines, how strong do you expect to be at Pocono, which is known for its long straightaways.
Ryan Newman (2:49 PM)
The Hendrick engine department has done a really good job this year. Pocono has the longest straightaway at any racetrack. I really enjoy that racetrack.
Justin Behling (Boyceville, WI)
What are the keys to winning at Pocono?
Ryan Newman (2:50 PM)
You have to have a fast race car, obviously. But a car that can be manipulated by the driver in all three corners. Just pure straightaway speed or corner speed in one corner, that doesn't outweight being fast in the other two corners.
Shayne - NY [via mobile]
Ryan... I'm a big fan of yours, congrats on a great year so far. What is your favorite track and why?
Ryan Newman (2:51 PM)
I really enjoy Dover, Darlington, Charlotte, Atlanta, those types of race tracks are fun. Typically, the more challenging the more fun.
Bret (Kansas City)
If you could change one rule in NASCAR to improve the racing experience for fans, what would it be?
Ryan Newman (2:52 PM)
I think the double file restarts are good. Just in general to make it a little more gap in the cars, as far as speed, to make it easier to pass. People can have an advantage with a faster race car.
James from Wolcott Indiana
What differences do you see in the Hendrick motors & chassis compared to what you riding in before?
Ryan Newman (2:53 PM)
They go faster and stick better. It's their engineering that makes the difference as far as going faster and sticking better.
Woody (Denver)
How big was the fish you caught and how many did Smoke catch to take that bragging right?
Ryan Newman (2:54 PM)
I'm not sure what you're talking about, but I took my grandmother fishing at my place and she caught a 5.5 pound bass and it was the biggest fish of her life. She caught it all by herself at 82.
Ryan Newman (2:54 PM)
Thanks for all the questions. I hope you enjoy the Prelude. It's on HBO. Thanks for supporting Stewart-Haas racing.
