Eric (NYC)
So ready for Kobe and the Lakers to finally win this championship.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Is this chat going to start at 1?
Moderator (12:28 PM)
yes, hook
Michael (Kentucky)
WELL!!!!! My Braves got a helluva lot better last night!!!
Moderator (12:29 PM)
they sure did Michael
James Denver
Why did ESPN screw over first take and show tennis instead of it on ESPN2 today? You guys have like 10 channels now. Why couldnt Tennis be put on ESPN instead of Sports Center replaying over and over. They moved Mike and Mike to ESPN News why not First Take?
Moderator (12:30 PM)
as the French say, James...Viva la differe'nce!!!
Dana Jacobson (12:40 PM)
What's this I hear about you all being upset with the time change??? I finally got to sleep past 5!! Good AFTERNOON! Bring it.
rossy (fort worth, texas)
could you put skip's twitter username on the screen? i looked for it using first and last name, but when i tried to become a follower it said the account was suspended.
Dana Jacobson (12:42 PM)
rossy try therealskipbayless or go to our webpage on espn.com at espn.com/firstake and hi smay be listed there.
Sean ,Orlando
I love how all the "experts" are not even giving the Magic a chance in this series .That is just want Van Gundy wants to hear. That is premium fuel for his young team.
Dana Jacobson (12:44 PM)
sean, haven't been paying attention to picks. no respect really? everyones saying lakers sweep?
Jim (Daytona, Fl)
How can MLB allow a ownership group destroy a Baseball team like the Pirates. We once had one of the best outfields in Baseball Mclouth, Bay and Nady now we have no names with nothing to show for it but other teams prospects. Can the fans trade management?
Dana Jacobson (12:45 PM)
jim, it's always disappointing to see a franchise hover at the bottom. pete my coordinating producer and i both shook our heads at getting rid of mclouth. pirates had life
East Greenbush New York
What is going on with this whole Jets runningback situation, do you thing they going to get rid of one of them (Thomas Jones and Leon Washington) or are they going to keep them both?
Dana Jacobson (12:46 PM)
East greenbush NY, I dont think they'll get rid of them. Washington's deal will be reworked tho from all i've seen. Plus they've got shone greene. They're stacked. They've all gotten into OTAs all will be smoothed over by training camp during next weeks minicamp
Michael (KY)
You are now talking to the newest NATE MCLOUTH fan!! Also, on behalf of all the Braves fans out there, I just want to say one thing to Tom Glavine.... THANK YOU!! Being a lefty, and a former pitcher when I played ball, Tom Glavine is who I tried to imitate. I will NEVER forget Game 6 of the '95 WS! Truly a pleasure to watch pitch every 5th day
Dana Jacobson (12:47 PM)
michael will be interesting to see if someone picks glavine up. chris delucca says phillies/dodgers may have interest. hear more on the show
Roxette (The 80's)
Dana, listen to your heart.
Dana Jacobson (12:47 PM)
thanks for my 80s reference of teh day
Michael Corleone (Godfather)
I thought I was out, then Dana and Jay PULL ME BACK IN!
Dana Jacobson (12:47 PM)
saunday, maunday, tuesday, take the gun leave the connoli
Armando Baldwin Park, CA
If Kobe gets his fourth ring in this finals. Do you guys think he'll win a fifth or even sixth before his career comes to an end?
Dana Jacobson (12:49 PM)
armando, 4 has been so tough for him. i don't know. im sort of torn between saying yes, one more and no. hard to stay on top and lakers have been on top in the west for a couple years now. i'll say..ummm... no. 4 will be it
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Well, what do you know? The people who made the LeBron-Kobe Vitamin Water commercial had a back-up plan after all...http://bit.ly/yM5Re
Dana Jacobson (12:50 PM)
lance you're not really surprised are you??
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
Who else has seen Dwight Howard's Vitamin-Water commercial? Now that's a great way to make up for all the LeBron-Kobe talk.
Dana Jacobson (12:52 PM)
lance if they haven't they just have to click. thanks for the link b/f
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Geez if the Phils sign Glavine, he'll look like a rookie next to Jamie Moyer.
Umor (Detroit)
Becket was too wicked last night. Tigers only got ant runs after he left.
Tomwit NJ [via mobile]
Let us not weep for Tom Glavine. He left for NYM when it suited him. There is no loyalty either way in pro sports. Its all aboup money.
Umor (Detroit)
Datsyuk coming back for game four. Pens your in trouble. GO WINGS
Dana Jacobson (12:54 PM)
umor need the win tonight.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Pens win tonight and the series goes seven. They lose and this thing is done in five. LET'S GO PENS!
Selena (Louisiana)
Magic vs Lakers; Pens vs. Red Wings; First take starting at 12(in my time zone) what a day! Hey There!
John, Austin
Why didn't the Pens and Wings play last night and take tonight off? They have a hard enough time getting viewers they don't need the added distraction of the opening round of the NBA championship to draw people away.
Ryan (IL)
If Bynum, Gasol, and Odom are all able to get their boards in this NBA Finals is it possible that the Lakers can sweep the Magic?
Tomwit NJ [via mobile]
Kobe always looks like he smells a dirty diaper.
luis(houston)
please never put tennis on while 1sttake should be on ever again!!!!!
Umor (Detroit)
Magic in 6. This playoffs is superman coming out party.
Mixi (Hollywood, CA)
Magic for the win in 6. It all depends on if Dwight Howard stays out of foul trouble. If he is in foul trouble a lot, then Lakers in 6.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
John from Austin: Why didn't the NBA Finals start last night? Both the Lakers and Magic have had plenty of time off already. That's why the NBA playoffs are uninteresting to me. They drag everything out.
Juaqin (Mike and Mike)
Fight for your Dwight to Party!
Ray (Arlington, VA)
What a way to treat Tom Glavine. The Braves strung the guy along and didn't want to pay the $1M. That's a terrible way to treat somebody who helped build your franchise. Clearly Wren is no John Scheirholtz. Wonder how John S. feels about his protege? Wonder if a class act like Bobby Cox will stick around much longer.
Dana Jacobson (1:12 PM)
ray someone said it earlier....glavine had no problem heading off to the mets. works both ways doesn't it?
John, Austin
Good Afternoon Dana, I hope the weather up there is as AWESOME as it is here in the greatest city on the planet.
Dana Jacobson (1:12 PM)
john we had a little rain but i think its clearing up thanks.
Jonathan (Atlanta, GA)
Hey Dana, I haven't heard you and Jay give your picks for the NBA Finals. Who do you like?
Dana Jacobson (1:13 PM)
jonathon i did a couple days ago i said lakers in 7
Drew (Buffalo)
Need the win? Come on, Dana! This is not a must win for Detroit.
Dana Jacobson (1:14 PM)
drew for my prediction wings in 5, they need the win.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
In the middle of the Dwight I be walking in my sleep.
Tomwit Jersey Shore [via mobile]
I am sure the Braves will still have a Glavine day when he retires. Look what Chicago did for Maddox. I know he will not wear a Met jersey into HOF. Tom will be fine.
Dana Jacobson (1:15 PM)
Tomwit, or it will be a sign and retire
Moderator (1:15 PM)
got a bunch of poets out there today....
Mike (Worcster, MA)
I couldn't agree more with Skip right now. Orlando has more weapons on the outside and Dwight is a force on the inside. All the lakers really have is Kobe. Gasol is very soft and is going to be dominated by Dwight.
Johnny Los Angles, CA
Skip Uu finally said something worth listening to. i believe the magic take one game in LA and sweep at home so magic in 5. everyone has counted them out ur smarter.
Selena (Louisiana)
Skip I'm on your side. Magic is the underdog so Magic in 6. Superman!
Umor (Detroit)
No skip. magic can't win a game 7 at L.A.
Umor (Detroit)
Rob parker trippin' What with the cartoon voice.
Josh: (dallas): [via mobile]
Magic in 5 book it.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
I don't know who's better between Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard but I do know that Pau Gasol is the next guy after that. That will be why the Lakers, flawed as they are, will prevail.
John, Austin
Dana, today is the last day of the school year for my kids, what's the first thing we should do to celebrate?
Dana Jacobson (1:16 PM)
john, if you were in michigan or ohio i'd say go to cedar point. how about hit a river!!
Moe D
Magic did there job by taking out King James... now just be happy your there and let Kobe do his thang..
Chris, San Diego CA
kobe will win it this year regardless of what skip says.
Bisimath (Atlanta, GA)
When Jordan played their was no debate over whether or not he was the greatest -- it was understood that he was the best. However, with Kobe their is debate between him and Lebron... So wouldnt it be accurate to say that niether one is the greatest, but both are among the great?
Moderator (1:20 PM)
I hate when we get into these syntax arguments
Dan(Batavia, NY)
are they going to debate burnett getting suspended today?
Moderator (1:20 PM)
Dan its not on the docket, but fire away your thoughts
Students (Ann Arbor)
Can the Wolverines get back on track this year?
Dana Jacobson (1:23 PM)
students, be patient. I think you have one more toughie to go. Year 3 will be the turnaround.
Rasheed (Atlanta, GA)
Skip is out of his mind - a Magic Game 7 win in L.A.?!? I know memories can be awfully short, but WOW! How Kobe could suddenly go from the best closer in the game to "psychologically out of gas" is beyond me. GO LAKERS.
Viva
I honestly have no issue with the Lakers being doubted I never understood why any team wants to be the favorite.
tomwit nj [via mobile]
Poets? What would you like? A haiku, limerick or perhaps a patrarchian sonnet?
Moderator (1:27 PM)
well, we're all stocked up on things that rhyme with 'Dwight'
Selena (Louisiana)
I woke up with a Fever; Magic Fever that is. Sorry guys but I don't think its Kobe's year. Dwight has something to say about that.
Drew (Arkansas)
I cant wait for Dwight to follow the trend of great centers and go the Lakers in a couple of years.
Todd Fremont Ohio
skip and rob are way off Lakers will win this series. Not gonna be easy but they will win!!!!!
Mark Lake of the Ozarks MO
Why is Kobe considered the best closer in the game? What exactly has he "closed" in his career?
John, Austin
I know a lot of people think SVG looks like Ron Jeremy but he reminds me of Danny DeVito.
Moderator (1:28 PM)
I'll give ya that John, maybe DeVito before they put DeVito in the clothes dryer too long
John, Austin
Selena, Kobe's got the medicine for your fever.
Robert Auburn, AL
Only thing feeding off Schilling is Skip's arguement. RJ is hardly overrated!
Chris, San Diego
skip why do you have to be so mean?
Dana Jacobson (1:28 PM)
john, more cowbell??
Marcus Rochester,NY
Am i the only one sick of hearing about Brian Westbrook battling an injury?!
Dana Jacobson (1:29 PM)
marcus, i'll saythis. seems like he always is. but he battles through
ny
Hi Dana, I know that this isn't a sports question but I really love makeup and was wondering if I could please ask you about it? Do you wear it and if so do you like it? What kind do you use? Also is there a makeup artist and if so what is it like to have your makeup done? Is it ok if I continue to ask you about makeup? Please answer
Dana Jacobson (1:30 PM)
ny, i do wear it. all different kinds, lots of mac. we have makeup artists.
Zach (Florida)
The Lakers have trouble with quick point guards. Courtney Lee will have a huge impact. He can guard Kobe and make him work on both ends of the court. He will be the difference
Jay Crawford (1:30 PM)
whats up room! good afternoon and happy thursday!
Mike (Vancouver WA)
Hey Dana, tell me if you think this is true.. Just about everyone is picking the Lakers to actually winning it all, but the people that pick them wouldnt be suprised if the Magic did win.. I cant remember another series ever like that.. tell me if you think thats true
Clive - Manchester, GA
I think Rob Parker usually takes an afternoon nap. That explains a lot with this new time schedule for today. Extremely obscure baseball references on live TV? Is there a cot in the studio he can use? :) Love the show guys! Best on ESPN!
Jay Crawford (1:30 PM)
thanks clive. i'll see to it he gets some shuteye.
Dana Jacobson (1:30 PM)
mike, maybe i'm wrong but just last year i think it was pretty split between lakers-celtics. no?
rory (los angeles)
IS PAU GASOL A TOP FIVE PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE?
Jay Crawford (1:30 PM)
no way
Brandon (Groveland, MA)
So now that the finals start tonight without Lebron James can we stop calling him the King and comparing him to Kobe
Selena (Louisiana)
That's ok John. Dwight will take care of my Fever. Kobe can watch from the sidelines.
Jay Crawford (1:31 PM)
that talk has ceased
John, Austin
I can't believe my eyes, there's been a Jay sighting in the room!!!!
John, Philadelphia, PA
The Eagles have the deepest team they have had in a while and more weapons than he has ever had, and has done well with an Eagles team that had Todd Pinkston as their #1 receiver, its safe to say as long as the rest do their job the Birds are going to be ok!!!
Jay Crawford (1:31 PM)
sorry john. i do my best. i try to seperate chat from show a bit to keep my focus on the tube. but i love you guys and always try to hang here when i can.
Kevin Strafford, NH
Skip, your always right, even when your wrong.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
So Jay, are you all out of synch today with the chat being delayed three hours? At least you didn't have to wait in the Washington rain.
Dana Jacobson (1:32 PM)
John, helps that they drafted lashawn mccoy who can help at rb
Jay Crawford (1:32 PM)
yeah johnny. i got warmed up in the pen, then waited and waited til 1. i'm only good for a few segments today....get the pen ready!
alan (fairless hills pa)
Raul ibanez best mlb player
Jay Crawford (1:32 PM)
certainly most underrated player! guys a freak!
Dana Jacobson (1:33 PM)
alan can make that case right now, playing the best...chris deluca will talk about it in a moment
Clive - Manchester, GA
ok when a makeup question gets posted AND answered, we have a problem :) So, in that regard, does Skip wear eyeliner and what type of blush does he use? Love you guys! P.S. Jay, are you pitching this year? How is it goin?
Dana Jacobson (1:33 PM)
clive, in fairness. its posted every day a million times. i'm hoping an answer and that will be it. you know i love talking about all sorts of stuff but even i admit makeup is too far off course. Sorry NY (who asked teh question appreciate the interest)
Mike (Vancouver WA)
yeah half and half were picking lakers and boston, but this year everyone i hear is picking the lakers, not the magic.. but they wouldnt be suprised if the magic won even tho theyre picking lakers.. see what i mean?
Jay Crawford (1:34 PM)
ha! no eyeliner. not sure on the blush. and yes i am....11 scoreless innngs so far with a 2-0 and a save. working limited innings due to 2 tears in the mcl of my right elbow. i'll throw til it ruptures then have tommy john.
RJ ( Lemoyne, PA)
Love the show guys. Never miss a day of skips antics. Love to Watch him and stephen a smith go at it. Great TV. Keep up the good work!
Jay Crawford (1:34 PM)
thanks rj!
Mike (Vancouver WA)
Jay Crawford you are the man!!! what sports did you play in high school and/or college?
Jay Crawford (1:34 PM)
baseball's my thing. also wrestled and played hockey.
derek (iowa)
Jay what do you think of American league pitchers throwing at batters, they dont even bat, let the other guys get plunked!
Dana Jacobson (1:35 PM)
mike, i hear you. Off the top of my head I don't remember what I thought some of the years teh spurs won.. It is proof orlando has more respect than it did at the start of the playoffs, i'll say that
Ed Hochuli (chat ref)
Personal foul, Clive, whining about not getting posted. It's nobodies fault but your own. One more time and I'm ejecting you. It is now 2nd down.
Dana Jacobson (1:35 PM)
Ed, did you not take your happy pill today. I think Clive was just having fun. Rescind the foul please
Jay Crawford (1:35 PM)
yeah, i know. a bit cowardly, but in some cases i get it. beckett threw at a guy who tried to break up his no hitter with a bunt last night...he had it coming.
Wade, Baltimore
LeBron needs to come debate Skip
Jay Crawford (1:35 PM)
almost happened last year wade...could happen one day.
John (Austin)
Jay, you've almost pitched enough scoreless innings to catch what Austin Wood did in one day.
Jay Crawford (1:36 PM)
yeah but its taken me 6 weeks....
Mike (Vancouver WA)
What position in hockey?
Maurice Lloyd Key West,FL
The Rockets and the Nuggets would sweep the magic in a series and anybody who thinks they can beat the Lakers are crazy and don?t really know about basketball and stop trying to compare Lebron to Kobe he is not there yet sometimes I wonder if you guys really watch sports or just get stats and highlights..
Dana Jacobson (1:36 PM)
maurice - sweep??? i think you're wrong on that one.
Jay Crawford (1:36 PM)
center mike. havent played in 2 yrs. played in mens leagues in tama and columbus and always love to get out there and go.
Clive - Manchester, GA
Can I ask a fashion question as well since makeup is ok as well? Did Skip accidentally add a bottle of bleach into his laundry? Oh.....my...eyes.....so....bright. New name for today then Skip Johnson and Tubs Parker :) Best show on ESPN!
Matt (Nashville, TN)
I wish T.O. would debate Skip.
Jessie(Winter Park, FL)
I am a Fan of the Lakers and the Magic, But i felt like Orlando had a much easier road to the finals than the Lakers. What do you think?
Jay Crawford (1:37 PM)
you and me both matt. im told he wont.
Dana Jacobson (1:38 PM)
really jessie? i disagree. reigning champs, even minus KG and the mvp in lebron. different road but they got tested.
Clive - Manchester, GA
Yes I was absolutely just having fun Ed. I love this show and the hosts. YOU MISSED ANOTHER CALL ED!! :) :)
Dana Jacobson (1:38 PM)
ed ouch!!! clive be careful he's got guns!!!!
isaac(san jose)
every team that has won a championship has been to the war and lost before winning. what tough series has orlando been through? lakers have been there and now its time to cash in. i think experience will be the biggest factor in the series.
tomwit nj [via mobile]
There once was a Magic named Howard And over Van Gundy he towered He said Coach quit your shakin' Its the trophy we're takin' Now the Magic play like they're empowered There. No Dwight.
RJ Lemoyne, PA
First take is the best show on in the morning. Cant miss one day of skips crazy antics. Love to watch skip and stephen a smith go at it.
Phil (O.C.)
Skip is so counter-intuitive its ridiculous! He thinks the team with the most clutch player in the NBA(Kobe), the coach with the 9 rings, and 4 times the playoff experience on the roster are going to be the team to crumble under pressure?!?! I just feel bad for Rob!
Dana Jacobson (1:41 PM)
nice tomwit
Harold (Los Angeles)
So are the folks in Bristol jealous of the guys doing SC in L.A.?
Chris, San Diego CA
Selena are you sure the magic will win this series? magic hasn't won a championship? howard is a good player but i don't think they have it this year
John, Austin
Dnas, funniest skit ever on SNL!!!
Umor (Detroit)
there is no debate Randy Johnson a HOFamer. Change part of his throwing style after he 30. and got better.
John boston ma
Skip needs some serious competition on the show cuz he absolutely DESTROYS the competition on a daily basis. Bring in Prince James or is it Lebrick James? We know he's not busy.
Selena (Louisiana)
Well Maurice I must be crazy because you are not giving the Magic credit. Even when point man Jameer went down, the Magic are holding their own.
Mike (Vancouver WA)
yeah half and half were picking lakers and boston, but this year everyone i hear is picking the lakers, not the magic.. but they wouldnt be suprised if the magic won even tho theyre picking lakers.. see what i mean?
justin (sacramento, ca.)
do you think mcnabb would have been better for chicago than cutler?
Dana Jacobson (1:42 PM)
harold, not me! I've done the west coast thing, i'm an east coaster...
Zach (Florida)
Who would you rather have, Reshard Lewis or Lemar Odem
Mike (Vancouver WA)
what a beard!
Rob (Virginia)
Skip is crazy. If he goes by postseason stats then Mark Lemke should be a Hall of Famer because he was huge in the postseason. Randy Johnson wasn't over or underrated. He is what he is. A tall imposing presence on the mound that scared you to death with his lack of control sometimes. Had a 97 mile per hour fastball with a devastating slider. Ask Kruk how he can scare a person.
Patrick Longview, TX
I totally disagree with Skip and ROb. If you pay attention to the Lakers' road to the finals. Utah, Daron Williams played in China with Kobe, done in 5 games. No one on Houston played in China when Yao went down it helped Houston be more unpredictable, 7 games. Carmelo Anthony played with Kobe in China and Kopbe remembers Chauncey from the finals a few years back. Up next Dwight Howard Kobe knows what makes this guy tick and will give his tem pointers on slowing him down. Come on guys, think!! Lakers in 5 maybe 6
John, Austin
MK, give rory a cup and send him down the hall please for asking that question.
Phil (O.C.)
Courtney Lee can guard Kobe?? haha
Mike (Vancouver WA)
Dana and Jay - How bad do you guys think the Westbrook injury is going to hurt the Eagles? thats my team so im not happy to hear about that at all because Eagles fans know how important B West is to the team.. So how bad do you guys believe it will effect the Eagles?
Marcus Rochester,NY
Oh, i'm not saying Westbrook isn't a fighter, but the fact is either he needs a better team of trainers, or to start eating his Wheaties before he hits the field
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Isn't bunting a part of baseball? I hate when pitchers throw at a guy for trying to break up his no hitter with a bunt. I'd do it if I had the chance.
Dana Jacobson (1:43 PM)
mike, wait till you see the segment
Brian V (Chambersburg, PA)
Why can't I post a comment?
Dana Jacobson (1:43 PM)
brian, we have to post you. there you go
Chad (Las Vegas)
Four college alumni were climbing a mountain one day. Each was from a different Big Ten school and each proclaimed to be the most loyal of all fans at their alma mater. As they climbed higher, they argued as to which one of them was the most loyal of all. They continued to argue all the way up the mountain, and finally as they reached the top, the Boilermaker hurled himself off the mountain, shouting, "This is for Purdue!" as he fell to his doom. Not wanting to be out done, the Wildcat threw himself off the mountain proclaiming, "This is for Northwestern!" Seeing this, the Wolverine walked over and shouted, "This is for everyone!!!" and pushed the Buckeye off the side of the mountain
Moderator (1:43 PM)
Mike in Vancouver is banned till he stops sending posts 5 times over
Selena (Louisiana)
Chris in CA. I'm not 100% sure but I have watched the Magic all year. They have been my favorite and have good chemistry and play as a team. They did sweep the Lakers in the Regular season. Magic don't back down to anyone.
Dana Jacobson (1:44 PM)
chad you soooo knew that was getting posted. Seriously funny and obviously you can make it work for any rivalry
tom nj [via mobile]
Steroids aid beard growth. Check out any Russian female gymnast.
Dana Jacobson (1:44 PM)
ouch!!!
Patrick (Longview, TX)
Dang I dont get my message posted?
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
I'd rather fly to Paris to see Roger Federer play in the biggest tournament of his life.
Dana Jacobson (1:44 PM)
ok patrick was the last in that vain
Chester (Los Angeles, CA)
Skippy & Roberto, When Kobe and Lakers win will you finally give him his just due?
Rasheed (Atlanta, GA)
In about a week, Kobe will have closed your mouth, Mark of the Ozarks.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I hope tomwit wasn't driving when he was texting that poem.
Jay Crawford (1:45 PM)
of course it is when the situation calls for it....down 6-0 and your bunting???why??? come on johnny, you're better than that!
Matt (Nashville, TN)
They could do the debate in the front yard of his new home if he ever gets one.
Ed Hochuli (chat ref)
Dana, after reviewing the post, the call stands. Don't question me.
Chris (NJ )
What are your opinions of Bill Simmons?
Moses, San Antonio, TX
Can Lesean Mccoy be a difference as a starter?
Jay Crawford (1:46 PM)
love the sports guy! genius!
Dana Jacobson (1:49 PM)
moses, good speed and size, hard to take down. if i remember not great between tackles. i think great upside if he can't adjust to that. but you can't teach speed and size, like you can't teach height in the nba
Tom (River North)
That beard is insane. The Red Wings by far have the best beards in the series, especially the Swedes: Holmstrom, Z and Franzen in particular.
Rob (Las Vegas)
Are you-all up for some quick viewer feedback? The show is feeling very stale and the same old segments (top story, hot topic, etc?) needs to be changed or revamped. The random video collage set to music before talking about Tiger, Brady, Howard, or whomever is not entertaining and is just senseless? Especially when you pause 1st-down to do it. It would sure be nice to have live or in-person interviews and much less to none cell or phone interviews. On the positives, the 1 & 10 segment is a winner and the main reason I watch. Jay & Dana are fantastic. Of course Skip is the man and is another main reason to tune in. I hope you are interested in viewer feedback and I hope you are on another 10 years!
Dana Jacobson (1:51 PM)
Rob thanks for your input. We too would love more on camera interviews. There's a problem. Guys who had a late game, don't want to go to a studio and sending cameras and trucks to their house is very very costly. The economic times hit us all so we do what we can. We'd rather have a player on the phone than not at all. But know your desire on that end is ours as well, but we do what we can. Thanks for watching
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
That's illegal use of the hands against Rob from Vegas for posting a novel in the chat, 10 yards and it is now 3rd down
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Hey Chad, the Northwestern guy would jump but he would be smart enough to have a rope tied around him
LeBron James
I've had enough of this chat. I'm leaving and I'm not shaking anyone's hand
Chad (Las Vegas)
I think I just saw a squirrel poke its head out of that beard.
Chad (georgia): [via mobile]
Wow! Nice beard..................not
Trey
Why does Skip continue to pick the Eagles, they will NEVER win anything.
Lakewood, Calif
If Dwight Howard wins the NBA Finals will David Stern have to reverse his decision on High School athletes? Would Dwight Howard be the youngest to be Finals MVP?
dwayne,montgomery,alabma
why does kobe has to prove his self every game?
Dana Jacobson (1:52 PM)
lakewood, um kobe already did it. so no
Matt (Nashville, TN)
Every year people always overlook Westbrook. He is a top 3 runningback every year (even when he misses games), even when he misses games.
tomwit nj [via mobile]
I just saw a squirell stick its head out of Rasputins beard.
Dana Jacobson (1:52 PM)
you chatters think alike in terms of squirrels
Kenny (denver)
whats in that beard???? YIKES!!!!
Wade, Baltimore
Skip would look good with that BEARD
Wade, Baltimore
I think Westbrook is more important McNabb. Without him the Eagles wouldn't have been this successful.
mary (cascade)
Dana do you like beards on a guy? or the babyface look?
Dana Jacobson (1:53 PM)
mary i'm not a big facial hair gal. but its a not a definite no. i like a good scruff though
Brian V (Chambersburg, PA)
Another sad day to be a pirates fan. If I only had a couple of hundred million lying aroun! Bye Freddy, guess your next. Let's go Pens!
Jonathan (Atlanta, GA)
Rob, the one thing that I will disagree with you on is within the segment. I give Dana and Jay big props for asking some pretty cool questions...not just the typical interview-type questions. This is another element that keeps the show spicy.
Jay Crawford (1:54 PM)
if youre any good they ship you out!
Tom (River North)
I fear squirrels after a few years in Ann Arbor. Those things were as big as cats!
dwayne,montgomery,alabama
somebody needs to put stop to all these bandwagon fans
craig (Nevada)
Jay you should rock a beard!!!!!
Dana Jacobson (1:54 PM)
thanks jonathan, that's what we want to do. that's what makes us different, we think. no shot that last interview appears on any other show here and we like that OR the t.o. real estate segment in hour #2
Mike (iowa)
i think Jay should rock the beard!!
Rob (Las Vegas)
Dana, understood on the phone interviews... Thanks for listening and keep up the good work!
Jay Crawford (1:55 PM)
just an occasional goatee. trouble is, every 4th or 5th whisker is GRAY!
Dana Jacobson (1:55 PM)
rob, it was long but we do appreciate the feedback. thanks!
John (Austin)
You could hide a small child in that beard.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Westbrook has helped me win many a Fantasy Football League game. That said, he drops down my draft board for this year. I don't trust his health.
Clive - Manchester, GA
I bet there is a 4 course meal in that beard. YECHHHHHH!!!
tomwit nj [via mobile]
Are Italian mother in laws allowed in beard contest?
Chad (Las Vegas)
Dana's a Michigan woman. She will take what she can get:)
Jay Crawford (1:56 PM)
outstanding tom!
Dana Jacobson (1:56 PM)
chad OUCH!!!!!!!! where's ed hochuli when i need him.
Drew (Arkansas)
I dont know about Westbrook being more important. THe eagle barely functioned when McNabb was out. No defense is going to respect the Eagles offense without McNabb under center.
Dana Jacobson (1:56 PM)
drew i dont know if it's a more important they both need eachother. it's basic
Umor (Detroit)
ZZ Top in the house. Haah Haah Haah Haah.
Patrick (Longview, TX)
I dont think Dwight will play as big as everyone thinks. He didnt perform well in a large stage of the Olympics. Chris Bosh played much better on the medal games. Dont be surprised if he avgs a low double double, like 15 pts and 12 boards a game. He may be shook for the Championship series.
Jay Crawford (1:56 PM)
every girls crazy bout a sharped dress man
Dana Jacobson (1:56 PM)
patrick, olympic game is a different style not sure you can compare em
Neal (Ft. Wayne IN)
Westbrooke should be careful. If he can't stay healthy for a full season soon he will probably be getting cut after this season or next.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
How can I say anything bad about Dana and Jay? They come here just about every day to chat with us and answer some pretty personal questions. For that, I say thank you both.
Dana Jacobson (1:57 PM)
neal, was he ever healthy for a season???? : )
Jay Crawford (1:57 PM)
no prob johnny!
Chad (Las Vegas)
Dana, It's still better than being an Ohio State man and having to pay for it!
Tom (River North)
Jay, I'm surprised you haven't gone gray sooner being a Cleveland sports fan...
Dana Jacobson (1:57 PM)
chad, you're redeemed a little.
Kevin (NH)
Does the big unit get 300 today? Is he to overrated to get it in his first attempt? Remember how long it took Clemens. Thoughts?
Jay Crawford (1:57 PM)
no kidding! i have more every game!
shelly (a.z.)
Jay.. there is nothing wrong with being a "Silver Fox"
Dana Jacobson (1:58 PM)
kevin, he's facing the nationals. i actually think its going to get drawn out , the game that is...70% chance of rain is pretty high if they are at all accurate
Moses, San Antonio, TX
McNabb is an important piece but to be honest it's all about Westbrook. When McNabb isn't on target with his throws the offense lies on Westbrook. That's why I hope Mccoy is ready to fill some big shoes!!!
Jay Crawford (1:58 PM)
trouble is shelly all my gray is on my temples, and i love baseball hats, and when i wear them, i look half gray!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I think you mean sharp dressed Jay but I forgive you, the whole OSU thing and all.
Jay Crawford (1:58 PM)
zaktly johnny. sharp!
Dana Jacobson (1:58 PM)
moses, a QB is the kingpin but its teh balance between them that makes it work
Umor (Detroit)
Chad a unlv grad. I'm amaze he can write is own name.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
There's only one Ricky Rubio, one Ricky Rubio, walking along, singing this song, walking in a Rubio wonderland!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I say do the interviews on the phone and have a cardboard cutout of the interviewee on the set with the First Take crew. Then again you work for Disney. Have some audioanamatronics done!
Brandon (Goldsboro N.C.)
Dana do you think Dwight will win more championships than Lebron?
Jay Crawford (2:02 PM)
i do! love the big man model
Clive - Manchester, GA
Jay or Moderator, does your team you pitch for have a website so we can follow your stats/progress etc? Whats your out pitch? I am your age and am so impressed you have kept up your game. Good luck the rest of the season! Impressive.
Jay Crawford (2:03 PM)
we do. i'll get the address for you clive. my out pitch is hard slider. also mix in a 2 seam cutter with a down and in motion to rightys
Zach (Florida)
Dwight is a class act, wonderful kid!
Jay Crawford (2:03 PM)
how can you not love the kid!
Rasheed (Atlanta, GA)
For a second I could have sworn the show was pre-taped, Dana and Jay were responding so frequently. But you just gave us Proof of Life. :)
Jay Crawford (2:04 PM)
nope. we're live rasheed
John, Austin
Batman is by far the greatest of the superheroes. Think about it, if you have to spend half the time in disguise who would you rather be, a dorky reporter or a millionaire playboy?
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
With each Dwight Howard clip, the love for his character grows. I'm so happy that the NBA has a guy like D-Ho.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
How's Skip holding up? Isn't this normally his nap time?
Zach (Florida)
How can you not like Dwight? He is a class act and a fun loving kid. Much classier then Lebron.
Jay Crawford (2:04 PM)
he's snoozing.
John, Austin
Wow, Jack Del Rio caught Randy Johnson in college, who knew Jay was going to drop that knowledge on us today!!!
Gary Scottsdale AZ
Skip what about all the 1-0 losses Johnson has suffered, the D-backs rarely gave him any run support
Jay Crawford (2:05 PM)
i know! he's coming up in a bit. i taped it at 1030 this am. he's good on it, and wait til you hear what he said about one of his veteran players!
Lumberjacks (chopping down trees)
Hey Dana, heard you like scruffy faced guys. What are your dinner plans?
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Everyone talks about Pau being soft. What other big men are "hard", Jermaine O'Neal? Yao? Bogut? Dirk? Brad Miler? Chris Kaman? Last year Pau was definitely too finesse, but this year he seems to have really picked it up and finishes with authority. Tired of the "soft" label..
Jay Crawford (2:05 PM)
funny lumber!
Chad (Las Vegas)
NO, I just live in Vegas. I am actually a UNO grad Univerity of New Orleans or University of No Opportunity as we like to call it. But a big LSU fan.
LeBron James (akron): [via mobile]
Can't wait till 2010 jay.
Jay Crawford (2:05 PM)
me neither lebron. me neither.
Mark (Cincinnati)
I think this Westbrook surgery is all a blessing in disguise. This is a players dream, now he doesn't have to go to training camp and most important the dreadful preseason. If I where Westbrook I would milk this for as long as possible. Some people may think this may make him a little rusty, and it might, but theres just some players who wake up in the morning ready to play football. Westbrook is one of those guys.
Dana Jacobson (2:08 PM)
mark, i'll be honest i haven't read full reports just skimmed the basics. is he a no for all of training camp?
Tweet from TO
I'm open! Throw me the ball!
Dana Jacobson (2:08 PM)
Tweet from TO add: And then find me a house!!
Big Z (chicago)
Hey, is this chat always gonna start at 1? If so, I'll never be able to make it since it's during lunch time.
Dana Jacobson (2:09 PM)
big z, just a rare show move. we have a few this month with tennis where we got 12-2. we'll try to post those days on our website so people know
Lakewood, Calif
Thanks Dana! Glad to see more & more female perspective on sports channels. How bad does Stern need a squeaky clean face/image for the NBA? Viewer % is up, will it go down w/o LeBron in the Finals?
Dana Jacobson (2:10 PM)
lakewood, thanks. not sure he needs a squeaky clean face/image. No one is perfect. You need personality, good intentions, and yeah overall no trouble. He's doin just fine. I think viewership will depend on game one. close game more tune in blow out you may lose fringe folks
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
If Dwight Howard is Superman and Nate Robinson is Krypto-Nate, then what will LeBron be in next year's dunk contest?
Dana Jacobson (2:11 PM)
lance, i have no idea...flash gordon
Drew (Buffalo)
my roommate is moving out, I'd welcome TO into my humble abode if he wants.
Dana Jacobson (2:11 PM)
drew get on twitter let him know!
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Rex Ryan got stones to say what he said. Good for him. I can't wait til that matchup this Fall.
Zach (Florida)
As a head coach, Rex Ryan has won as many games as I have.
Dana Jacobson (2:11 PM)
zach we all have to start somewhere
Tom (River North)
I for one am glad it's not LeBron-Kobe in the finals. Who wants to see 100 free throws in a game? In the 4th quarter it would have been all 1 on 1 basketball with multiple trips to the foul line. The games would have been 6 hours long.
Drew (Buffalo)
Dana, the whole city of Lakewood is pulling for you!
Dana Jacobson (2:12 PM)
drew, pulling for me in what???
Drew (Buffalo)
Sorry Dana, I ain't no bird... I don't tweet...
Dana Jacobson (2:12 PM)
drew thumbs up
Umor (Detroit)
Lebron is lex luthor.
John, Austin
Easy Lance, Lebron will be Robin because he'll be Dwight's sidekick.
Selena (Louisiana)
Dwight is like a mini Shaq. That is a loveable personality,
Dana Jacobson (2:13 PM)
selena, great personality. remember talking with him sitting on the floor in teh magic lockerroom when he was a rookie and i was doing sidelines. he was awesome then, better now
Zach (Florida)
I think Skip has a man-crush on TO and Lebron
Dana Jacobson (2:13 PM)
zach don't tell manu
Drew (Buffalo)
Your success? I dunno. It was just nice of the whole town to collectively tell you they appreciate you.
Dana Jacobson (2:14 PM)
got it drew thanks. short term memory. i'll take a town if i can get one. molly says hi
Matt (Nashville, TN)
TO is not stuck in Buffalo. Buffalo is stuck with TO.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
BUFFALO BILLS 4-0? HAHAHHAHA ROFL LMAO
Ohio guy ( ohio): [via mobile]
Y us when will we win something.
Dana Jacobson (2:15 PM)
ohio guy - osu has a streak gonig against um, you have cedar point and the rock n roll hall of fame. does that count for anything???
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Dwight Howard should impersonate Skip and act like a knucklehead.
Clive - Manchester, GA
Dwight Howard cried during Finding Nemo. Real men aren't afraid to show emotion! Unless you cry at an animated fish :)
AJ Outsiderville
I do Brandon!
Tom (River North)
Johnny, are you suggesting they get the heads on a stick from PTI for the phone interviews?
Adam G. Tampa, FL
2 days...thanks Jay.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Dana, I'm in the bathroom now shaving the beard!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Better a little grey on the sides than the solar panel I'm working on the back of my head.
Jay Crawford (2:18 PM)
sorry johnny! work what you got tho bro
The U
Ohio= choke!!! OSU,Cavs,Indians, whatever!!
Jay Crawford (2:18 PM)
is that the same u we won a football title from....whatever!
alan
I was just at t.o. Crib in new jersey he is a clown skib is right team oblitorater
LSU
We are winning the National title this year, GEAUX TIGERS
Ray (Arlington, VA)
I'd take TO as a neighbor before Brandon Marshall, the "Baby TO".
Zach (Florida)
16 and on the cover of SI?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Uh, sure glad the didn't put a proven pro-player on it, that would have been sensical
Matt (Nashville, TN)
Jay and Dana: Is Skip that in shape? I just don't buy that he is. When do we get a photo of this machine?
Jay Crawford (2:20 PM)
he is matt. the dudes a witch in the gym!
Umor (Detroit)
Win T.O. retires. Skip is gonna weep. My meal ticket is gone.
John, Austin
I didn't know they let inmates in the chat room U.
tex
skip as a Bro-Mance on T.O.
Bills 81 (Buffalo)
Skip, I'm bored up here in Buffalo. They wont even rent me a house. Edwards is no good. I want MY quarterback back in Dallas, in a TO friendly offense.
Moses, San Antonio, TX
Skip that's exactly how EAGLE FANS feel!!
John, Austin
Skip should know something about being tired of listening to someone. Its how we all feel about him.
Matt (Nashville, TN)
TO is not stuck in Buffalo. Buffalo is stuck with TO.
Selena (Louisiana)
Tom you got a point. Seeing the puppets is enough for me.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I think First Take should go to Casual Dress Fridays too. Everyone else is doing it.
Matt (Nashville, TN)
Why is this a question about Rex Ryan? He's a defensive guy. He didn't say "I'm here to beat the Patriots!" Although, I think that they will.
tomwit nj [via mobile]
Why must people hit on Dana? It is a bit creepy. By the way, is Chip free tonight?
Jay Crawford (2:21 PM)
id vote for that in a heartbeat!!!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Dwight needs to be on the court every second or else Kobe will slither (Black Mamba) his way thru the lane.
Rasheed (Atlanta, GA)
No more 300 game winners after Unit.
John, Austin
Westbrook getting hurt is typical for the Eagles. All we heard was how good their draft and trade for Peters was but everyone should have known the Eagles were due for some sort of controversy. The off season can never be smooth for them.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Jay, I would shut up about that football title. It did come on a phantom pass interfernce call.
John, Austin
Is anyone smarter than Tim Kirkjian? I learn something from him everytime he talks baseball.
Jay Crawford (2:23 PM)
and there were bad calls the other way too! one on miamis game tying drive that ive watched on replay 10 times. on a 4th down play they got an extra yard on a play that should have turned it over on downs, game over right there. that was a bad call though. and chad, what has vegas won???
Rob (Las Vegas)
Q - T.O. what do you think bout Romo friendly offense? A - I'm not in Dallas anymore & I'm moving on so I have no more comments on Dallas... That's how you answer those Q's!
Jay Crawford (2:23 PM)
perfect rob!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Hahah TomWit
Chester (Los Angeles, CA)
Why doesn't T.O. look for a house in Canada he would have a fresh start A
The U
phantom call in the end-zone, for the title, but never the less you got me... i thought you went to Bowling Green State?
Dana Jacobson (2:24 PM)
chester i'm thinking he can find one in buffalo. and on a serious note, crossing the border now is a hit/miss process do you really want to mess with that every day?
Jay Crawford (2:24 PM)
i did. but was a buckeye fan at 5. not a bg student til 17. i root like hell for bg too, just not fun to talk about 8-3...ha!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Wow Jay stop using my swag and words man before I buzz a 92 mph fastball chin music style.
Jay Crawford (2:25 PM)
bring it adam. what words are you talking about oh webster king of the verbage
Gary Scottsdale AZ
Jay Vegas wins 98% of the time
Ohio guy ( ohio): [via mobile]
Dana osu not good enough need a pro team to win.
Jay Crawford (2:25 PM)
great line gary! great line!
derek (iowa)
Jay and Dana.. both from the Big Ten, i think the Hawkeyes are going to be a team to watch out for in the upcoming years. See you nov.14 Jay!
Dana Jacobson (2:25 PM)
sigh. i hear yah ohio guy, sorry.
Jay Crawford (2:26 PM)
thats a big one derek. i love iowas chances this year!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Right on, Jay! How you get the title doesn't matter. Look at the 1982 Penn State Nittany Lions (my favorite team). Kirk Bowman STILL hasn't gotten a foot in bounds! (Nebraska game)
Chad (Las Vegas)
Jay. Pay attention. I am an LSU fan. 1st to 2 BCS Championships and the only other school is fellow SEC UF. Baseball championships galour. Beat your OSU in 1 of those football championships. Beat OSU in this years womens golf championships. You live in Bristol does that mean you are a UConn fan? I live in Vegas, doesn't mean I am a UNLV fan.
Tomwit NJ [via mobile]
I hope America relishes Johnsons 300th win. It will never happen again. At least we know in advance and can savor it. Who knew at the time that Denny Mclain was the last 30 game winner? Or Wilt Chamberlains triple double double? Or Craig James 1000 yards season?
Phil (O.C.)
Wow I'm constantly amazed by the talent that has come out of SC
Jay Crawford (2:27 PM)
ahhh, got it chad. and no...not a uconn fan. hold fast to your teams. but i'd back off claiming the womens golf title....
Derrick (Guttenberg,Iowa)
Jay were you a pitcher? did you ever throw at a batter?
Jay Crawford (2:27 PM)
i still pitch in an 18 and up league, and yes, when ive needed to.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Jay you going through my wardrobe again
Jay Crawford (2:28 PM)
nope..all my clothes sorry...
Dana Jacobson (2:28 PM)
browns fans, mangini says he's waiting till late preseason to pick starting qb
Dana Jacobson (2:28 PM)
and the to house hunting segment is about 10 mins away i believe.
Umor (Detroit)
Canada love us brothers. windsor a fun town. Oh Canada I love ya.
Drew (Buffalo)
Dana, crossing the boarder really isn't that hard. As long as you have a passport or enhanced license, you're good to go. Heading to our neighbors up north this weekend actually for a club opening!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Wang's day is done. Only lasted 4 2/3 allowing five earned on seven hits. Sad to say we may be seeing his career taking a big slide.
Jay Crawford (2:29 PM)
yeah, he has some kind of issues going on...
Charles Dayton, Ohio
Jay Could you please advise Chad in Las Vegas that we Buckeye fans come in packs and what has LSU done lately ? Bet they miss Ryan Perilouxx.
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Jay any room on that team I'm thinking bout moving back to Jersey.
Jay Crawford (2:30 PM)
we're full now adam, but maybe next year. we come to fla for a tournament later this year, maybe you can take bp and show us what you have.
Dana Jacobson (2:30 PM)
drew ive just heard at times the lines are more of a question mark than b/f. but you're there, you'd know. also i think if he lives in canada there's a whole tax issue too
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Well sure Chad it's easy to be great at sports when you don't have to go to class.
Tom (River North)
What's the over/under on number of weeks it takes Browns' players to quit on Mangini? I'm going with 7.
Jay Crawford (2:30 PM)
we'll give him a year.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
I can see it now, tight end LeBron James on one side and wide receiver Randy Johnson on the other end. Every quarterback would be unstoppable with that...
Craig (chicago)
I think the NFC central will be a great division.. Vikings,Packers, and of course Da Bears!!!!!!!
Adam G. Tampa , FL
I'm just kidding but you said someone was a beast on the field.
Jay Crawford (2:31 PM)
i always say that...del rio was too...whoa!
FINN (BOSTON)
The reason Rex Ryan is an idiot: This isn't Matt Cassells' Patriots. And watch out for our new secondary. Big things coming.
John, Austin
Buckeye fans be careful about making fun of LSU fans, Texas fans might remind you about the Bowl game last year.
Jay Crawford (2:31 PM)
ouch!
T.O ( buffalo): [via mobile]
Skip= perfect neighbor
Rasheed (Atlanta, GA)
Glad to see Del Rio admitted his mea culpa. After dumping Stroud and letting Fred Taylor walk, he can't afford to lose the trust of many (any) more vets.
Selena (Louisiana)
Oh Yeah! Forgot about my LSU Tigers. Geaux Tigers. Thanx LSU. Where is the college talk?
Adam G. Tampa, FL
I wrote the Dictionary I'm older than Chip!
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Just tuned in for a sec...Yankee Game...Jack Del Rio caught Randy Johnson? Hunh!
Jay Crawford (2:33 PM)
yep. at usc.
Tom Hanks
There's no mullets in football!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
You know what this chat needs? Some Brett Favre talk. His next career move may mean the difference between me buying the NFL Ticket or just watching what we get locally.
Jay Crawford (2:33 PM)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Sounds good Jay too bad you Ohio guys don't "Shake" on things! (our bet)
Jay Crawford (2:34 PM)
hey, not all ohioans are bad sports.
Matt (Nashville, TN)
First Take: Any chance this chance ever becomes live posting?
Jay Crawford (2:34 PM)
its as live as its going to get. you never know what someone will post so there has to be a gatekeeper.
tomwit nj [via mobile]
Hey Jay, there was a dentist, Doc something, pitching in ECL. He must be 50 now. Do you know him?
Jay Crawford (2:35 PM)
hmmm. no. but i pitched in the golden state indy league inj cali a in 05 and for the saints in st paul as well. i'd still do it now.
Tom (River North)
Jay's right. Most people I've met from Ohio are pretty nice. Except for the ones that actually went to Ohio State.
Jay Crawford (2:35 PM)
ha! come on tom. they're not all bad.
Brandon Baker, Minnesota
I Miss Woody debating skip. When is he coming back Jay?
Jay Crawford (2:36 PM)
probably every few months or so. woodys the man
John, Austin
This isn't live posting? Wow, I guess my day is a lot longer than I thought.
Jr. (Jr.Nation)
oh "The Biff" is on... alright a little Nascar love!!!
Clive - Manchester, GA
Jay, are u allowed to post your team link in chat? I assure you tons of folks would love to follow you! If not, I understand.
Dana Jacobson (2:38 PM)
ok i promise you all, after the next commercial the TO deal. not that you're all clamornig for it, just telling ya
Lakewood, Calif
With the NBA Finals on ABC, & Disney parent co. of ESPN how wierd is it that both teams are right next door? I'm waiting for the conspiracy hounds to start baying!
Jay Crawford (2:39 PM)
i am. i'll get it and post it. im not sure what it is.. here's my minor league link http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=crawfo001jay
Dana Jacobson (2:39 PM)
i believe teh conspiracy theory was mentioned last week
Drew (Buffalo)
Jay, how do you feel about the 1pm start time? Now when you are done you won't have to wait as long for happy hour to start.
Drew (Buffalo)
The lines aren't normally that bad at the Rainbow or QEW, just Peace Bridge. And yes, the taxes are ridic. That is why a lot of hockey guys live around Buffalo.
Jay Crawford (2:39 PM)
good point drew! ha! its always happy hour in my world...
Charles Dayton, Ohio
Dana and Jay I have to call an Offensive foul on Chat to John from Austin for bringing up negativity in the Buckeye Camp. But John I guess I can ask the same of you and hmm say Texas Tech. Big Ups to Graham Harrell.
Dana Jacobson (2:39 PM)
thank you drew. when to is done with the key to the city, we'll grab it for you
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
How about the 'key shakers,' in Michigan? My parents had to sit in Ann Arbor and listen to that going on.
Dana Jacobson (2:40 PM)
johnny are you bashing the keys for key plays???
Rasheed (Atlanta, GA)
Rob is the best at debating Skip. He smacks down Skip's nonsense when need be.
Knox Worrell (Charlotte,NC)
I agree with Skip about Larry Brown. Best NBA coach ever and he might even lead these Bobcats to the playoffs next year
Drew (Buffalo)
The more TO the better. He should be covered more than Lebron. Can't get enough of the guy.
John, Austin
I hate the show Big Brother but I would watch if Skip and TO were in that house. If that girl Daisy can get a reality show, Skip and TO would get an Emmy.
Finn (BOSTON)
After reading Reillys' piece the other day I have to agree watching Papi fall is more depressing then Bambis' mother dying. Is it really possible he did HGH or lied about his age... it really is starting to look like it i.e. sammy sosa and tejada
Dana Jacobson (2:40 PM)
john, skip, TO, lebron and a few others...
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Waddup Glauber!
Anonymous (from nowhere)
Jay is a traitor not a real cleveland fan he jumps ships Dwight Howard fan all of a sudden interesting.
Manny Ramirez (Mannywood, LA)
Yo Adam just come to LA and play catch with me again? I need to start throwing July 3rd is around the corner.
Dana Jacobson (2:41 PM)
manny we've got a one hour show on july 3rd 12-1, can we book you?
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Dana and Jay, thoughts on why Tony Dungy openly questioned Jay Cutler's maturity? A little cover for his good pal Lovie? Btw, everything he said is true.
Dana Jacobson (2:41 PM)
ray, just think he's being honest. lots of folks questioned his maturity during that situation.
Tom (River North)
Larry Brown is the best coach ever? Yeah, he won one title, tore the team apart the following year, was awful as the Olympic coach, and has had minimal success everywhere else. Yeah, real great.
Jay Crawford (2:42 PM)
anonymous. a few things. how about a real name??? traitor, because i admire a guy who beat cleveland. no, that's just respect. howard has earned it. dont go lebron now and start hating because you lost. game is over, stick outr your hand, be a man, and do the right thing.
Dana Jacobson (2:42 PM)
tom ,he did win at every level
Matt (Nashville, TN)
Jay, 6'1"? This with cleats?
Jay Crawford (2:43 PM)
yep! 6 ft flat foot
Matt (Nashville, TN)
To the guy who won't give a name: I don't think Jay jumped ship. I think he has respect for a player that can get it done.
Jay Crawford (2:44 PM)
thank you matt. mad respect. he beat us, fair and square. im still a cleveland fan of course! but i respect an opponent who can do what he did.
John, Austin
I think the Cavs should switch Browns, Larry for Mike and then the Cavs migbt win a title.
Tom (River North)
He's won, but best coach ever? That's overstating it A LOT. He's always looking for the next job, and that's not what a great coach does. The only great coaches in the NBA today are Phil and Popovich.
Jay Crawford (2:45 PM)
i wish!!! title for sure.
Dana Jacobson (2:45 PM)
tom i actually agree not the best coach ever, but winning on every level is something to vault you up the ranks
Rasheed (Atlanta, GA)
Oh man, Jay you're a Cancer! You're alright in my book. Pretty good ERA too.
Jay Crawford (2:45 PM)
yep. 4th of july baby!
Manny Ramirez (Mannywood, LA)
Yes I want the fans to know I'm very sorry Miss Jacobson can we all have a big wiffle ball game together after our interview.
John, Austin
Jay may have jumped ship but at least he didn't jump ship on his own name and location!!! Anonymous is not accepted in this room.
Jay Crawford (2:46 PM)
thanks john. and i didnt jump ship. just paying respect where its owed.
Red Auerbach (in heaven lighting a stogie)
There is no debate about who the best coach ever is.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Sorry Dana but yes, I'm bashing the key plays. Of course this happened the last time PSU actually won in the Big House so they started shaking their keys when PSU was making the key plays.
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
I think the best coach ever would sustain the high level for a longer time. Larry Brown's impact, great as it is, does not last.
Jay Crawford (2:46 PM)
very true lance.
Red (Boston)
I just turned over in my grave and put out my cigar... I am the greatest coach ever by a mile.
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Pitching Change!! Tex ties game with 3 run double.
Dana Jacobson (2:46 PM)
johnny, the shaking is before a key play - doesn't mean it pays off. its a good tradition.
Dana Jacobson (2:46 PM)
matt, what do you mean?
Selena (Louisiana)
Yeah John Skip needs his own reality show. I wonder what a day in Skip's life is really like.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
What TO deal? See, I don't even care.
lance iowa
omg to when will t o go away if he moved near me i would put my house up for sale or put up a sound proof wall
Dana Jacobson (2:47 PM)
lance, he's not moving to iowa! tho i'll be visiting this summer for a couple days!
Jarad (Boston)
Dontrel Willis is back to is walking ways 6-3 Red Sox he only lasted 2 1/3. How much are they paying this guy?
Umor (Detroit)
I wish the pistons would have never let larry brown go. They miss the stablity.
John, Austin
Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, what are you doing? We almost made it two entire days without BF talk.
Chad (Las Vegas)
We didn't win the golf title we just finished higher than OSU (which finished last by the way). What has LSU done lately? Won 2 NC's? Beat OSU for 1 of those. Plays in the toughest conference in all of the land. Should I geaux on?
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
What constitutes a big play in Ann Arbor these days? One where the Wolverines pick up positive yards? (Sorry. Had to be done.)
Dana Jacobson (2:48 PM)
go right ahead johnny, i can take it
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I'm not sure which I find more annoying. Buckeyes insisting people say, "THE Ohio State University," or LSU fans that spell it, "Geaux Tigers!" I need an impartial opinion here, Dana.
Jay Crawford (2:49 PM)
both!
Matt (Nashville, TN)
If TO won't debate Skip, can they have a situp competition?
Dana Jacobson (2:49 PM)
matt i like that
Larry king ( cnn): [via mobile]
What am i doing on t.v
Clive - Manchester, GA
Told ya Jay! People love ya man! We want to follow your career outside of First Take! Pulling for ya always!
Jay Crawford (2:49 PM)
thanks clive!
Manny Ramirez, (Mannywood, LA)
Rob Parker, shave immeadiately.
Tom (River North)
Umor, as a Pistons fan myself I was hoping Brown would stay too, but when he was looking at other jobs and talking about how certain jobs would be his "dream job" and it wasn't in Detroit, he lost me. It was a distraction during the Finals and I think it cost the Pistons the title.
Anonymous (from nowhere)
I dont need a real name i'm a man! Don't get offended I just notice that you flip flop a lot Jay. It is one thing to give respect but now you say Dwight is the face of the league. It sounds you are jumping LeBron's wagon to join Superman's. Lebron is still the best player in the league.
FINN (BOSTON)
How about giving wake some credit for being solid, and being successful with basically one pitch.
Dana Jacobson (2:50 PM)
finn and freakin impossible to hit some nights
Jerry from Milford, Delaware
I would like to point out that NO NBA Championship is won without another star in the lineup. Shaq also couldn't have won without Kobe, Paul Pierce need KG and Ray Allen and believe it or not Skip, Michael needed Scottie. Magic and Kareem and Worthy, Bird, McChale and Parrish.
FINN (BOSTON)
TOM! what about doc>? Took a team of scrubs to the playoffs in orlando, and then balanced 3 egos to win a championship, and the balancing act he did with hi big men this year? Phil Is over-rated.
Jonathan (Atlanta)
Maybe Skip should advise TO on what home he should rent.
tomwit nj [via mobile]
Randy Johnson reminds me of Jack Lambert. He could play MLB still as a middle linebacker.
Jay Crawford (2:51 PM)
not offended. just offering my view point. i love debate anon. doesnt mean i cant like the cavs and think lebrons not the face of the league...i never said hes not the best player in the league...
Dana Jacobson (2:51 PM)
jerry siad the exact same thing the other day on the air. it's never just one guy
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Jay knows and respects talent period.
Knox (Charlotte,NC)
I agree that Larry Brown is too itchy to leave places to coach somewhere else but the man knows the game so well and does alot more with less. Larry Brown would have won the finals if he coached Cleveland, no doubt in my mind.
Chester (Los Angeles, CA)
Kobe and the Lakers will win it all this year and atleast one more time so he will be on the MT. Rushmore of all time great NBA players
John, Austin
OOOHHHH, Jay's calling you out on tv (blank person's name).
Lance (New York, N.Y.)
That's very true, Adam G. Now, if only we can get Skip to do the same...
Mike Gundy
HEY ANONYMOUS! I'M A MAN! I'M 40!
Dana Jacobson (2:53 PM)
mike wehre have you been hiding???
Me ( me): [via mobile]
Cutler is the best Qb right now.
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Sorry John from Austin. Big Vikings fan here. The QB situation in Minnesota is as messy as it's winters.
Dana Jacobson (2:53 PM)
cutler the best qb right now? ummm no.
Jerry, Milford, DE
Thank you Dana, someone with rationale not just someone disagreeing just to disagree
Dana Jacobson (2:53 PM)
right back at yah jerry
Umor (Detroit)
Yeah it was a hassle Larry Brown looking at other jobs. But the players never turn him off when he talked. They listen cause he knows the game.
Dana Jacobson (2:53 PM)
umor good point
R Mom (Spring Valley, NY)
Tom (Rivernorth), Are you kidding? Larry Brown won with the Clippers. The CLIPPERS!!!
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
I know you can take it, Dana. You can dish it out, too.
Dana Jacobson (2:54 PM)
yes i do johnny
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
The First Take crew is like a group of buddies that you'd have over for a BBQ. Lots of good-natured ribbing going around. Of course everyone would be talking about Skip when he went to get a beer.
Dana Jacobson (2:55 PM)
skip would be too busy watching games to be at the party or to partake
Jerry Delaware
Cutler isn't even close, he went to a pro bowl, that means he is popular not that he is great. He barely has a winning record.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
How'd you like to be TO's landlord? "No, TO you can't put a mirror on every wall of the house..."
Dana Jacobson (2:56 PM)
Ray, having been a landlord, i'd love it. seriously. charge a huge security deposit. maybe he'll upgrade with some flatscreens and leave em behind!
Jonathan (Atlanta)
I feel really sorry for this kid on the cover of SI. That's absolutely crazy for him to be on the cover and called the "Chosen One".....chosen for what? How many times have we've seen this before?
Dana Jacobson (2:56 PM)
jonathan, i know i'm a part of it...but i agree. wow. why do we do this?? i know again, im part of it..but man
Adam G. Tampa, FL
Jay you da man knock em dead in 4th down killa.
Dana Jacobson (2:57 PM)
i tried adam! that kid is sick!!! ok room. peace out! live today like its the last day of school...talk tomorrow...its friday!!
Rasheed (Atlanta, GA)
Putting LeBron on the SI cover when he was in HS started the ball rolling on the MASSIVE ego he has now, and it is not a positive. Best of luck to the Vegas kid but I hope he has a healthy dose of perspective, for it will be sorely needed.
Dana Jacobson (2:58 PM)
allright folks, i'm signing off here. we're saying goodbye. talk to you tomorrow normal time. go wings!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Was Greg Biffle on there today? If he was I missed it.
Dana Jacobson (2:58 PM)
hook yes. check out our webpage or video on espn.com may be up later. we have a one hour reair, don't think he's in it
Drew (Arkansas)
This is the series where Lamar Odom's versatility really needs to show.
Umor (Detroit)
