NBA's 65 in 65: Devin Harris
Harris was fifth in the NBA in free throws made and attempted.
Harris was fifth in the league in free throw attempts due to his ability to get in the lane and draw contact. He has also developed a respectable mid-range jump shot and extended his range to include the 3-point shot.
In his five seasons in the NBA, Harris is averaging 12.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.4 rebounds a game while playing with the Dallas Mavericks and the New Jersey Nets. In his first full season with the Nets, Devin averaged career highs in points (21.3), assists (6.9), and free throw percentage (82%).

Devin Harris should be here shortly everyone! Keep sending in those questions!
Buzzmaster (1:01 PM)
Devin is here!
Steven (NJ)
Were you dissapointed that you were named as most improved?
Devin Harris (1:01 PM)
Yes, very disappointed. I thought I had a good enough season. But they felt Danny had a better one.
Mo (New Orleans, LA)
Devin, which point guard is the hardest to guard?
Devin Harris (1:02 PM)
I would probably have to say Steve Nash. He's an equal threat passing and shooting. And he has the ball 90% of the time.
Steven (NJ)
What was it like to be named to the all star team?
Devin Harris (1:02 PM)
It was exciting. It is what you work for in the summer time. It's a great accomplishment individually.
Bobbo
What can you do to avoid injuries. You can't stop going to the lane.
Devin Harris (1:03 PM)
Maintaining strength is the thing. Balancing exercises and believe it or not, learning how to fall is part of it and learning how to brace yourself.
Shayne (NY) [via mobile]
Devin... In your opinion, What is the best aspect of your game and which part needs the most improvement?
Devin Harris (1:04 PM)
Obviously driving to the basket is the best part. And anybody will say that you can work on being a better shooter. The shots that you get in the game. Mostly mid range pull ups.
Jake (VA Beach)
How excited are you with the way the league is turning into a PG-important style?
Devin Harris (1:05 PM)
I'm extremely excited. A lot of great point guards coming into the league. Some interesting matchups every night, but they make you play your best. It's an interesting time.
Edward, Dallas TX
If you could set one NBA record, what would it be?
Devin Harris (1:05 PM)
Most points in the paint in a season.
Hyattsville MD
What was your favorite NBA team as a child?
Devin Harris (1:05 PM)
I liked the Lakers.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Do you get mad sometimes because your former team made the playoffs and you didn't?
Devin Harris (1:06 PM)
No. I wasn't mad, just disappointed, but I think it will better prepare us for the future.
Clay (Charlotte)
How is your offseason looking? How much time do you get for some much need vacation and when do you start back training for next year?
Devin Harris (1:07 PM)
Offseason has been really nice. It's a bit longer than expected. I've had a couple of vacations already, I start one tomorrow, but then I'll start hitting it heavy when I get back.
Eric (Utica, NY)
Hey, Devin. Have you talked to any of the young players since the end of the season? If so, how are Brook, Ryan, Chris, and Yi doing? Are they working hard to improve from last season?
Devin Harris (1:07 PM)
I actually spent 7 days in China with Brook. I've been talking with CDR a little bit. I have not talked with Ryan and I have spoke with Yi.
Evan (Schnecksville, PA)
Can you describe what went through your head as you shot that game-winner against the 76ers? Keep in mind I'm still recovering from that loss as a 76ers fan...
Devin Harris (1:08 PM)
I was just thinking, when I lost the ball to just try to get it up as fast as I can. I didn't even lok at the basket. It was one of those shots that just happened. I didn't have any intention of the ball going in.
Eric (Utica, NY)
Devin, what do you think is most important to success for the Nets next season? What are you doing to try to achieve that success?
Devin Harris (1:09 PM)
I think we have to improve as a team defensively. I think we've proven that we can score points, but to win at a consistent level, you need to defend.
Justin Behling (Boyceville, WI)
What's your game 3 prediction?
Devin Harris (1:09 PM)
I have been watching the Finals. I do think Orlando will win game 3.
Doron (East Brunswick, NJ)
Hey Devin, I just bought your jersey at the NBA Store, I'll be rocking it starting this season! Anyways, you took a lot of heat for your defense this season even though your scoring, assists and overall game went through the roof. Is defense in the NBA an individual approach or a team one and do you think you can regain your status as a shut-down defender? GO NETS! Thanks!
Devin Harris (1:11 PM)
It's both. It's individual and team but the way the NBA rules are structured, it's more about the team. The way the Nets defend, it's more defense as a team and then individual as far as principles.
Zack (Newark, NJ)
Do you think this nets squad can make the playoffs with a solid draft pick and the same core?
Devin Harris (1:11 PM)
I do think so. we were close this year. Another year together with the same guys and one more piece and another young guy and that could be enough to put us over the top.
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
4-5 years from now, outside of you, name the top 3 PG's in the NBA.
Devin Harris (1:12 PM)
Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derek Rose.
Dave, MN
Do you remember River Falls 3 point bomber Luke Loney? He claims he played against you!
Devin Harris (1:13 PM)
No. I don't remember.
Steve (Cleveland)
Do you think you deserve a crack at making the US team for the 2012 olympics? I feel like you are unfairly overlooked in the landscape of great American point guards.
Devin Harris (1:13 PM)
Yes, I have a lot of interest in playing in 2012. I have been invited to attend the mini camp in Vegas this July and I will be attending.
Rich King (Jersey Shore)
My brother went to your clinic last year he had a great time, and he learned alot. Do you plan on having it again next season?
Devin Harris (1:14 PM)
We are going to have two. At the end of September you can start to check the Nets website. At the end of August, you can start to sign up for it.
Justin Behling (Boyceville, WI)
How many more years do you think Kobe Bryant has left in him?
Devin Harris (1:15 PM)
At least four more years. Four or five more years.
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Outside of the usual suspects, Cavs and Celtics, what team in the East do you think will surprise people next year besides the Nets?
Devin Harris (1:15 PM)
I think the Bulls.
Omar (Evansville, In)
How do you feel being a teammate of Vince Carter? And is Coach Lawrence Frank helped become a better player?
Devin Harris (1:16 PM)
Playing for Frank has made me a better player by giving me freedom. He's put the ball in my hands and allowed me to run the team as I see fit.
Donald (Mo)
What was your reaction when you heard you got traded to the Nets?
Devin Harris (1:17 PM)
It wasn't really a big reaction. The circus kind of went on for a month. So I had ample time to prepare. When I was finally traded, I was glad it was over.
Andrea (NY)
Is there anyone past or still playing that you tried to play like and still try to?
Devin Harris (1:17 PM)
Shaq. The old Shaq. Shaq in Orlando.
Larry (WI)
Do you think the style of play at Wisconsin makes it hard for a player like you to build up their draft stock?
Devin Harris (1:18 PM)
I don't think it's a slow down style. It's what you make of it. If you can speed it up and not turn it over, Bo will giv eyou more leeway, which he did for me. It's all about the system and making it work fo ryou.
Randy, Flemington, NJ
Do you plan on adding muscle in the summer?
Devin Harris (1:19 PM)
I'll be doing drills to hlep me handle the ball better, Shooting drills. In the weight room, core strength, balance, keeping my legs strong.
Justin Behling (Boyceville, WI)
Do you have a Twitter account?
Devin Harris (1:19 PM)
No Twitter.
Ghoti, Neptune, NJ
Stay young and draft well or make a big trade?
Devin Harris (1:20 PM)
Both. I would start out as a young team, but if I saw a veteran that would help out the team, I would make the trade if I was sure he could help out.
Omar ( Evansville, Indiana)
Are you planning to go to the nba finals in Orlando for game 3?
Devin Harris (1:21 PM)
No.
Devin Harris (1:22 PM)
Thank you for all your support on and off the court. I've had great fan support in the New York/New Jersey area. You've really come out to support my foundations activities. I appreciate and look forward to next season.
